Enough time has passed to where I think we can openly admit how WK has gone through seasonal rot within its previous 2 seasons and how the hype of Season 7 along with the generally positive reception is a really green flag for the show's quality.

#wild kratts #pbs kids #kratt brothers #martin kratt #chris kratt #pbs kids go #2d kratt brothers #2d martin kratt #2d chris kratt #because season 5 and 6 were.... not good to say the least #S5 took a hard plummet in quality after the Alaska special #Idk how to describe it but episodes felt more flat and basic more often than not despite there being several good ones in the mix too #S6 was slightly better but still felt more two-dimensional and basic and oddly oversaturated (and I don't just mean in the color palate) #I know Season 7's only been out for barely a year and we've only had 8-10 episodes released #But I do think that this season is substantially different than the previous two. #It feels a lot more experimental in its concepts whilst utilizing the show's strengths #Sometimes it works like with Clever the Raven or the Blue and Green special #Sometimes it doesn't like with the Mudskipper episode #But you can tell that they've some ideas in mind that you definitely wouldn't find in other seasons. #It genuinely makes me both curious and optimistic. Bc again it took 2 years to film this season. #There's definitely more time put into the writing process as earlier seasons. #I'm gonna hold some reservations until the season ends but it's shaping up to be pretty good so far.

Fionna & cake’s very interesting interpersonal conflict is just kind of Over. the cause (fionna worrying about cake’s safety because that’s her CAT vs cake being excited about her independence and feeling like she can take care of herself) is not mentioned again, and the most recent direct subject (making the world magical and changing everyone vs keeping it as it is but cake is either out of place or has to lose her independence) turns out to be kind of a moot point. Everyone just,. Gets what they want. There’s not any like. Emotionally resounding resolution to Fionna’s arc of trying to be a hero, being a hero wrong, being upset that she’s doing it wrong, feeling like she messes everything up, it’s just not. like. revisited. properly.

im sure when luz has her inevitable mental breakdown in the next two episodes it will be her mom or eda and king who comforts her and helps her complete her character arc where she realizes Not Everything Is Her Fault, Actually. either that or the entire main cast is going to somehow show luz that she’s been a positive influence in their lives. and luz will be inspired to defeat belos with the power of friendship or whatnot. or amity or hunter will have something to do with it, though if they’re a part of it, the rest of the main cast probably will too bc i don’t see why they would be the only ppl there at the climax of luz’s character arc and not eda, king, and camila.

but what i would have really liked would be if when luz is at her lowest point the person to encourage and inspire her was willow. they haven’t touched on these two’s relationship since season 2 so they probably won’t go this direction but i think narratively it would come circle. willow was the first friend luz ever made. she introduced her to other kids their age and basically kickstarted luz’s relationships with her other peers. without willow, luz never would have gone to hexside and learned about witch society and magic. or at least, she wouldn’t have gotten as much experience with it if she just stayed with eda all the time. without willow, luz definitely wouldn’t have met amity, gus, or even hunter probably. from their adventures with their friends, luz and willow have both matured. and while willow is doing a lot better than how she was at the start of the show (though there are still parts of her character i think they should have explored more in s2), luz is suddenly doing a lot worse.

at the start of the show, luz helped willow gain confidence in herself and discover who she wanted to be. i think at the end of the show, it would be nice if willow helped luz do the same

reminder for gang's bay fans, if you wanna watch something that's similar in tone and premise consider watching Corner Gas. it's the show that inspired gang's bay, however it is purely a sitcom. no romantic or intense arcs, just purely a bunch of weirdo adults in a small town who often manage to blow mundane situations way out of proportion. and if you like screwball, there's hank yarbo.

(some things in the show may not have aged well but there's quite a bit of body type diversity in the main cast and at least a few of them seem neurodivergent if that further piques your interest)

#when i write gang's bay i write it with basically the exact same style/sense of humor as this show #another point i really like about it is that every main character is accounted for in every episode. all 8. #and if they're not there they have a reason for it. which is very rare if it even happens more than once #every episode has at least 2 plots that are often connected somehow and the cast is split up between those #the writing of this show is just SO GOOD. it's a really really well-written show genuinely #i havent even watched it in a while

My Hot-Take/Controversial Ranking of Doctor Who Seasons (excluding specials bc my special order is really unhinged)

3 > 1 > 10 > 4 > 5 > 8 > 11 > 12 > 9 > 7b > 2 > 6 > 13 = 7a

Disclaimer: I have favorite episodes that come from every single season on this list, including 7a. For example, even though Season 6 is low on the list, the God Complex, Almost People/Rebel Flesh, and Impossible Astronaut are some of my favorite of the show. I do really love the Power of Three. These are based on season arc/average feeling per episode/rewatchability on a subjective level.

#doctor who #listen seasons 1 and three are basically perfect television for me #season 10 is one of the most fun of the show and bill is my second favorite companion and I love the twelve/missy arc #season 4 is full of banger after banger and journey's end slaps it just doesn't quite hit for me personally like seasons 1 3 and 10 do #season 5 has some episodes i don't like (victory of the daleks for example) but the fairytale vibes/beast below/amy's choice/big bang SLAP #Season 8 has some great episodes/good arc but i just really don't vibe with how cruel the Doctor is sometimes/Danny deserved better #Season 11 (other than fucking kerblam) i really enjoy! it has some weak writing in places but i love graham&ryan's arc & the smaller vibes #Season 12 is objectively better than season 11 but has weaker character arcs and some weaker episodes so eh #season 9 has one of the best finales in the show/some fun two-parters (i adore under the lake/before the flood) but the arcs feel off #7b is...fun & i like a lot of the episodes but i don't like the name/day/time of the doctor & it drags it down + clara's not fleshed out #season 2 is so good in places (cybermen 2-parter/school reunion/new earth) but has so many weak episodes & not as much character developmen #season 6...I love some episodes but I DESPISE the pregnancy arc/let's kill hitler/wedding of river song & how little agency Amy & river hav #season 13 is just...FINE. I enjoy some of the side characters (vinder bel karvanista) but the flux itself felt weirdly...boring? no emotion #(Jodie was SO GOOD in this season though btw) #and season 7a...asylum of the daleks dinosaurs on a spaceship & angels take manhattan are on my least favorite episodes list. like bottom 1 #and I'm sorry but a town called mercy and power of three can't save that #amy and rory should have left with the god complex/christmas special and popped back like martha did in season 4 #i said what i said #wow i really went off in the tags on this one #meta #rankings

The only thing I’ll say about hazbin hotel is that the pacing from what I’ve seen is absolutely horrendous. It never takes a moment to slow down, it’s trying to throw everything at you at once and expecting you to follow along.

Why is the audience supposed to care about these characters when we’re barely given time to know them? If you were just a random person tuning in without any prior knowledge of the pilot or anything, you’d be lost.

#like ive been in a lot of fandoms for a long time #but not like.. taking in content daily and just generally being hyperfixated #i think my second longest fandom qas the Beatles #which i was absolutely brain fogged for about 8 months before it began to fade #fnaf was kinda on and off #i was there since the beginning for maybe a few months #maybe like 2 or 3 #and then when sister location came out i was in for about 4 months maybe #and then for a little bit when security breach came out maybe a month or so #so i dont like counting that one #other longer ones were Undertale (base game) which was for about 4 months #Everymanhybrid although that was like the entire summer of 2021 #and then about an entire month in 2022 right before i got into dsmp #Gorillaz for about 3 months in 2019 (good god it was that long ago) #Sanders Sides was super split up #maybe like 2 weeks after a new episode came our since 2018 #so a decent amount of time #Dan and Phil a little bit in like 2016-2017 #probably like a month or so #full swing after their coming out like maybe 4 months #and then the entirety of April and May in 2021 #Squid game about 2 or 3 months #Good Omens took over my Gorillaz hyperfix in November 2019 to about January 2020 when the Beatles took over #OFMD and Heartstopper were congruent for like 2 months #Moon Knight for about a month #yeah theres a lot #anyway most dont make it past 4 months until either taking a break or just stopping completely #so this is a bit wild for me #and its strange cause this is one of the more.... stressful fandoms ive been in 💀 #anyway YIPPEE anniversary coming up
