MERCELOT/MERLANCE LINE ANALYSIS

"Your destinies were Entwined/Intertwined (not much difference)" -> Canon statement from Gaius

Meaning: When two people get entwined, they see every aspect of each other. Which makes sense because Lancelot and Merlin knew EVERYTHING about each other. They saw each other's true selves and loved each other regardless.

"Bregdan Anweald"

Meaning : "Bregdan Anweald" is equivalent to "to make more powerful" or "to draw power". Lancelot's is Merlin's POWER! He is the one that encourages Merlin to be more confident and himself. He is the one who found out about Merlin and accepted him without question (even if he could have gained Uther's trust by outing him). He is Merlin's pillar/support/source for solace. And these are things that give Merlin strength/power.

"Your secret is safe with me" -> Canon statement from Lancelot

Meaning: Lancelot wanted to be a knight of Camelot. That was his ambition. Once he found out about Merlin's magic, he could have told Uther and be a full knight, since Uther would appreciate a knight against magic. But he CHOOSES NOT TO! He chooses Merlin OVER pleasing the king! Let's also not forget that this is Season 1. Merlin and Lancelot knew each other for about a week, yet Lancelot chooses to keep Merlin's magic a secret. This is the start of a true friendship.

"Lancelot needed you and you needed Lancelot" -> Canon statement from Gaius

Meaning: They needed each other. Lancelot became a Knight/fulfilled his dream thanks to Merlin and Merlin could be himself with Lancelot. Also, had Lancelot lived in season 5, Merlin wouldn't have been so paranoid and magic would have been legalized earlier. And more trouble would have been solved.

About the Germany - Turkiye friendly match on 18th

It will certainly be a special match for me. Playing against Türkiye for the first time will probably be a bit weird. After all, it's my home country, my family's home country. It's our country my grandma, my grandpa lives in. Of course, there's still a strong connection (between me and Türkiye). There always was, and will be, with Türkiye. I try to visit at least once a year. I like spending the holidays in Türkiye.

Me, as well as my family, we are very happy that Türkiye is qualified for the EURO championship. Especially since there are millions of Turks living in Germany, in Europe. I think it will be great for Türkiye, for the Turkish people. After all, except for my team (Germany), the only team I support is, of course, Türkiye.

I hope (Türkiye and Germany) won't draw the same group. (laughs) Of course, I'm not sure if that's a possibility but inşallah that won't happen. Maybe… I think a semi-final, or a final (against each other) could be nice actually.

Who do you have in mind in the finals?

Actually, I would want to say Germany and Türkiye but for me… I mean, this time it's just a friendly. But if it was a final match, one between my friends, that would have been an entirely different situation for me. It would have been a lot more difficult and more awkward, weirder. That's why, I'd be happy to see either Germany or Türkiye in the semi finals. I'd be happy to see them both at once too.

About Galatasaray's performance in UEFA Champions League

I've seen a Galatasaray better than Bayern München, better at finding more positions, at ball possession. It was very good football. I saw a Galatasaray that deserved 3 points at the very least. (But) Champions League is a completely different competition. That's why you have to seize every opportunity you get there, unfortunately Galatasaray couldn't make that happen in the first match. I think they deserved the 3 points (there). But I guess it wasn't meant to be. İnşallah they could at least rank 2nd or 3rd and continue in Europa. Their chances are almost the same right now, (only the) Copenhag and Man. Utd. matches at home are left. I see a Galatasaray team that can win them both. İnşallah they do and finish the group ranking 2nd.

Kerem is very good, I love watching Kerem. Icardi, of course, he's a player that have showed himself in Europe, either in PSG or Inter Milan. Wilfried Zaha - a footballer I know very well from Premier League. He's a football player that spent a great time in PL. Individual duels, shots, assists, goals… He's a footballer I really like.

Apart from them… Lucas Torreira - very hard-working in midfield, he controls the ball very, very well. Muslera - he's been the goalkeeper for so many years, he's a very experienced keeper. I think he's also very important for the team. I mean, there are so many players to mention actually… Hakim Ziyech, Sergio Oliviera at midfield… Sacha Boey at right back. There are actually a lot to mention but… I mean Galatasaray has a very good squad. Actually, (we talk) with the Bayern München players we have here (German NT); they really find the (Galatasaray) players quite well, they say they play really good football. I hope for the best*, inşallah they can qualify.

About Arda Güler

Arda Güler went to Real Madrid. He's a really talented football player. Actually we talk with Antonio Rüdiger here sometimes, he too finds him well a lot. Of course, he's a bit behind physically. And with two injuries, he didn't have a great start for his Real Madrid career of course but I think he's very talented. Mesut Özil also said the same for him back then. If there's any Turkish player that's like him, the first one to name is Arda Güler. I think he's got a very bright future.

that's right, i'm back with more merlin gif thoughts

today: mithian

more specifically: why she chooses to cling to merlin.

If you look at the shots before and after the attacker in the first gif, you can see that she changes from being in front of Rodor to jumping behind Merlin (she also looks like she's been running from a different direction but we'll gloss over that). Now, Mithian is more than capable of handling herself, but she has been exhausted by the ordeal Morgana has put her through and doesn't have a weapon on her, so it's understandable that she wants to have a bit of security by back-hugging someone else. It also makes more sense that she'd go for Merlin, who is probably not going to actively engage with the enemy, to be more out of harm's way but, at the point of the first gif, Rodor is also a viable option. After all, both he and Merlin have a sword, and both are just as likely not to use it (of course, Rodor does, but Mithian doesn't necessarily know that).

So why does she choose Merlin?

Merlin has miraculously recovered from a serious head injury and has sprinted all the way there. By all accounts, he should also be exhausted. And look at the way he's carrying his sword. It's fwubwubwubwubing all over the place, especially if you compare it to how Rodor holds his. It's pretty clear that Merlim hasn't had much experience in using a sword, even if he did just use one to save Arthur. Merlin, by all accounts, is still recovering, and cannot fight with a sword in combat to save his life. Yet Mithian grabs him and nearly pulls off his jacket in her desperation.

Neither of them are stood in the best position, either. Sure, they're away from close combat, but the way that they're angled (and the way Merlin is holding that sword, it's not a stick) means that they could very easily be caught unaware by a blow on their side. Yet Mithian isn't angling Merlin in a more offensive position, which makes me think that she trusts him, despite never seeing him in combat. And whilst he has been close with her in this episode (very interesting, given their somewhat rocky start in 4×11), trusting someone in most areas doesn't necessarily mean that you trust them in combat.

Does Mithian know that Merlin has magic?

Mithian is shrewd. Extremely shrewd. She manages to pick up that Merlin doesn't particularly like her in 4×11, that Arthur values Merlin's input, and that there is someone else Arthur loves all during her first meeting with them. I don’t think it's much of a stretch to say that, knowing about Merlin's magic or not, she knows that he is her best shot at not getting injured.

Mithian has (presumably) lived in Nemeth all her life. She knows the land, the climate...and earthquakes are not going to be common, not on that scale. So when there's an earthquake and Merlin suddenly appears and Morgana doesn't follow them (Mithian is well aware of how powerful she is and she could probably avoid all of the debris -- I mean, she somehow avoids being crushed to death, so), Mithian is going to be putting some figures together. And even if she doesn't come to the conclusion of magic, she comes to the conclusion of Merlin seemingly has nine lives and some ethereal shit going on.

It's highly likely that the knights were trying to distract her by telling stories on the way and I can guarantee that there is an entire list of dangerous situations they've landed themselves in where Merlin has miraculously escaped unscathed, despite them all losing sight of him at one point and him having no weapon to speak of. Mystical servant who can repel death? I would also be clinging to that like a cliff edge if I was terrified and had no weapon.

Whether Mithian does think Merlin has magic or not, I think the key reason she clings to him is because of that blind trust. Mithian metaphorically clings to Merlim throughout the episode: she directs him to the rock with Morgana's name, constantly tries to tell him things through her face alone, and clearly feels she can lean on him (he helps her sit down when she has an audience with Arthur). There is no given reason for this extent of trust, but that Mithian can be so physically intimate with him after being constantly injured by Morgana definitely shows just how much she does put her faith in him. And that level of trust would definitely bleed into every element, including combat. Her father, Percival, and Arthur are all experienced fighters. But her father is weakened and she doesn't want to add to his load. Arthur and Percival were unable to notice that anything was wrong (aside from her father being missing), whereas Merlin immediately noticed her burn and was very quick to question it (and here I could go into a whole thing where Merlin notices when other people are acting off but nobody notices when he does, thanks @little-ligi for putting that in my head). So not only is Merlin able to repel death, but he is also incredibly perceptive. He is going to notice as soon as an attacker enters his peripheral vision. Mithian trusts him to keep them both safe.

So whilst Mithian may or may not know about Merlin's magic, she definitely knows that he is her best bet of staying alive. And the fact that she pins her life on his back is one of the reasons why I absolutely love them. There are three knights there, yet she chooses Merlin. Because something draws her to him, perhaps she sees a part of herself in him, and she knows that he is significantly more valuable than anyone gives him credit for.

“I made this film for a number of reasons, among them is to respond to the Indian film Fire. I enjoyed that film, but found the idea of the women choosing to be with each other because they weren’t satisfied with their male relationships, unconvincing. There appears to be a common misconception that women become gay because of a lack of suitable men. My personal belief is that homosexuality has little to do with either the actions or inactions of the opposite gender. In addition, Fire is an English language film in an urban setting. I made my film to reflect the more traditional gay experience in India. My characters are unapologetically gay and speak a regional South Indian language.

...I made this film in Kerala in the Malayalam language because it is very much a Kerala story. Circumstances, like the one described in the story have happened time and time again in Kerala. In another such story, two young women tied themselves together with a dupatta and threw themselves, together, into a rock quarry. These desperate stories are frighteningly abundant in Kerala. The stories are sometimes reported in newspapers, but most go unreported, as the surviving family members have an interest in keeping the shame and scandal fallout to a minimum. There is a watchdog organization in Kerala keeping track of the incidents, they are that frequent.” [x]

“There are other [differences]. For instance, it doesn’t hit anybody over the head, but the two women in the film are different religions. Delilah’s Catholic and Kiran’s Hindu, but a secular Hindu, which is very common in Kerala, where people are Hindu, but it’s very much a lifestyle. It’s not something that’s advertised but they’re actually two different faiths. The thing is, in India people can find the little things that draw that distinction. One girl wears a cross all the time; you can tell from her jewelry, from her house, from the fact that she prays with her grandmother–things like that. But Kiran you can really tell from the family names, like Priya and Narayanan, that her name is Kiran, that the house is a Hindu architecture, that there’s a basil plant growing in the front yard, which is part of the Hindu faith in Kerala–these types of things. These are two people of different faiths, but at no point is the issue ever about a clash of faith. You don’t really notice that.” [x]

Undo 2 - MCU x DCAU - DC

It has been years since the heroes and villains teamed up against Darkseid when people around the world randomly turned to dust, including Billy Batson’s twin sister and best friend. He’s summoned by the Wizard Shazam to undo this phenomenon.

"Captain Marvel." Doctor Fate announced as an ankh appeared beside Shazam's throne. "Make haste, the phenomenon is spreading at a faster rate." He added as he appeared

Captain Marvel simply nodded and stood in front of the Lord of Order.

Zatanna and Stargirl stepped out of the Ankh.

"Stargirl!" Captain Marvel exclaimed. "What are you doing here?"

"Stargirl has volunteered to be your anchor Billy." Zatanna explained.

"I see." The hero in red nodded. "It's nice to see you again." He smiled as he hugged the small heroine.

"Nice to see you again Bill." Stargirl returned the hug. "Although, I would love to hug you as yourself." She added.

"You can transform Billy." Zatanna nodded. "We need both of your forms to have Stargirl's sigil written on your person." She explained. "She'd also need your sigil written on her person."

"Shazam!" Captain Marvel yelled then lightning struck him and transformed him back to his disheveled mortal form.

Billy and Stargirl hugged once more, this time savoring the time they had together, however short it was.

"Roll up your right sleeve please and hold it out." Zatanna instructed. "Courtney, place your hand on top of my wand." She continued.

Both teenaged heroes complied with the sorceress' instruction.

"Niargni slrigrats ligis no niks" Zatanna recited

White beam erupted from the wand and began drawing the design of Stargirl's weapon, the cosmic staff, and the capital letter A, in the shape of a star, on Billy's forearm.

"How do you feel Billy?" Zatanna asked.

"It kinda stings." Billy admitted. "Although I've felt worse."

"Should I transform to Captain Marvel now?" Billy asked. "You did say both my forms needed to have Stargirl's sigil."

"Yes please." Zatanna nodded.

"Shazam!"

Billy complied with the request and transformed back into his champion form with a lightning strike. He wordlessly rolled his sleeve and prompted Zatanna to repeat the process, to which the sorceress did.

Zatanna repeated the process once more, this time engraving Captain Marvel's sigil, the lightning bolt on the hero's chest, on Stargirl's skin.

Zatanna also wanted Billy to think up his own emblem to draw its design unto the young heroine.

"That is not necessary young sorceress." The Wizard spoke once more. "While in theory Billy should need to have his own emblem to be ingrained unto young Stargirl, the lightning bolt ingrained on her skin suffices." He added as he gestured towards Star spangled heroine. "Captain Marvel and Billy Bitson are one and the same." He continued. "The sigil on both forms is enough contingency to ensure the champion's return." He finished.

Zatanna nodded as Doctor Fate stepped beside the Wizard's throne.

"Captain Marvel, stand at the center." Doctor Fate ordered as an Ankh appeared right behind the red clad hero.

"Tcetorp illyb nostab, tcetorp illyb nostab, tcetorp illyb nostab" Zatanna chanted as violet light shot out of her wand.

The violet light in question immediately encased Captain Marvel and covered him in violet hue which showed the silhouette of Billy Batson projected unto the hero's body. The spell also caused the color of the ankh to change from golden yellow to violet.

The lightning bolt on Stargirl's arms also glowed violet as soon as the spell started.

Soon after, he disappeared and the violet ankh following soon after. As did the glow on the sigil drawn on Stargirl's skin.
