Our February series is underway! We invited Maso Perez to join us to learn about the official Boyfriend Dungeon TTRPG, Life on the Edge!
We were thrilled to learn about this unique game where you play as people who can turn into weapons, and it's as much about your relationships with one another as it is about fighting through some very personal dungeons where you wield one another in battle.
If you like what you hear on this episode, the rest of this month's series is up on our patreon! Check out episode 2 and 3 right here:

Just a quick one shot of Rory's character in Right At Your Door. Highly recommend!
Warning: Mentions bombs, hints at death, some minor swearing.
****
You'd been caught in the crossfire of one of those bombs. Or at least you'd thought so anyways. You cough, staggering to your feet, quickly checking for blood. You don't see any.
Hurrying towards the street, you see a car approaching and you run towards it, waving your arms to get the driver's attention. He slams on the brakes, as the car screeches to a halt only inches from where you're standing.
The driver leans out the window, swearing at you. You ignore this, rushing over to climb into his car.
"What the hell are you doing?" The guy shouts. "Get the hell outta my car!"
"I'm sorry! Please help me! I don't have anywhere else to go!" You burst into tears and the guy sighs heavily, putting his foot on the gas and roaring off towards his house.
***
You're helping him with sealing up every window in his house. You keep sneaking peeks at him. Damn. He's very handsome. Curly dark hair and dark brown eyes. You feel something stir inside you.
"You almost finished there?" He startles you and you jump, spinning to face him. His eyes look downcast and red rimmed. Obviously he's been crying. You nod.
"Yeah. Uh by the way, I'm Y/N."
"Brad," he offers. You smile, stepping closer to him, aching to touch his face.
"Thanks for letting me come here," you say softly, suddenly realizing that Brad has stepped closer to you. He sets down the roll of duct tape he'd been holding and stares at you, the vulnerability plain on his face.
You set down your roll of tape and open your arms. Brad immediately moves into them, clinging desperately to you. You gently wrap your arms around him, as his head falls into the crook of your neck.
He begins to cry softly as you hold him, stroking his disheveled hair and murmuring softly in his ear. After a few minutes, he pulls away, roughly wiping at his face, looking embarrassed and uncomfortable.
"I, uh, didn't mean to do..that," Brad mumbles, his head hanging. You touch his arm and his eyes lock on to yours.
"No harm done."
"Thanks."
***
You've fallen asleep on the couch and can't remember a thing when you first awakened. Then you saw Brad standing by the window, looking pensive. You struggle up, yawning and calling out to Brad, who immediately turns, looking at you.
"Hey. You doing all right?"
"Yeah." You stretch out your arm to Brad, who comes to you, sitting down and leaning against your body. You smile, reaching out for his hand.
"I know this crap is super scary and we have no idea what's going to happen," Brad murmurs. "But I'm glad that I have you here beside me."
"Ditto." Brad grabs your face, passionately kissing you and you grab his arms, returning the kiss.
"It could get worse before it gets better," you say, stroking his beard. Brad nods, holding you in his arms as you nestle against his chest.
"That's why we have to make every minute count," you whisper, pressing your lips to his. Brad actually smiles, gently squeezing your hand.
"I couldn't agree more, Y/N."

At the 183rd ASA Meeting, Brendan Smith will describe how hydrophones can listen to the sounds of deep-sea hydrothermal vents, informing the environmental impacts of deep-sea mining and assisting with interplanetary exploration. He and his supervisor David Barclay have developed noninvasive ways to study the vents that are sustainable in the long term because they work from a safe distance. Understanding the acoustics in the vicinity could help predict and prevent environmental impacts.

This week I have been mostly …
Running around like a blue-arsed fly.
No change there then.
Even so, I am going to write a blog post because I am beginning to understand that writing reasonably regular blogs is actually part of my self-care regimen. Yes. This is where I vent, and if I don’t, I start venting to actual Real Humans. The joy of a blog is that, if you don’t want to read this, you can just not read it, but Real Live…
