I love writing my musical because I can just like ADD things that make me happy. Feeling like there isn’t enough sapphic representation on Broadway? My Mc now falls in love with her best friend. Don’t see anyone with chronic conditions in musical theatre? I Spread out my lived experience with chronic illness and invisible disability with canonical mobility aid use as well. We as a community are finally moving towards showing representation, and I’m so excited to be a part of the generation that makes it so a character being ace and nonbinary is no longer just a head cannon and a kid with crutches or a wheelchair can go and see themselves on the stages we idolize.

So every year my mom and I like to watch all the best picture Oscar nominees and we just watched Tár, which is about a lesbian female composer who also is an abusive piece of shit. Anyway, Marian Alsop is a real lesbian female composer (and is a very nice person btw) and is namedropped in the movie. She HATED the movie. Hated how it presented women, lesbians, composers, and music. Marian Alsop and her wife also happen to be family friends to the point where I often played with their son when we were kids. This is because my dad has spent the last 30 years of his life, longer than I have been alive, working at a symphony. He spent the entire movie just roasting it for both what Marian Alsop said about it AND how much stuff it got wrong about how symphonies are run ESPECIALLY everything to do with auditions

The point is I don't think I'll ever have a movie-viewing experience like this again in my life

i didn't decide to be an atheist kinda like i didn't decide to be a lesbian. like. i just find the whole concept of god fundamentally unbelievable. i tried rlly hard/faked it when i was a kid living with my evangelical parents. but like. idk it never took and it just made me feel like there was something wrong with me. then when i was an adult i just decided to stop trying to believe in god and i felt so much better.
