Could you do tickle hc’s for Khonshu from moon knight please? 🌺

There's a severe lack of Khonshu tkl content out there and it simply must not do 😔

( Gonna pretend he has a physical form that Marc and the other two can interact with for the sake of these headcannons, also apologies if any of this seems OOC, I have no idea how to write for Khonshu :,] )

Khonshu had very little prior knowledge as to what tickling is

But as he's watched Marc, Steven, and Jake having tickle fights he's slowly gotten used to it and grasped it a little more

Chaotic mix of a grumpy and stubborn lee

So Khonshu's overall ticklishness is kinda low

But there's certain spots on him that just kicks in the fight-or-flight reflex

For instance, you know that funny little empty space between his neck and torso?

Just wave your hand between it like a DJ and he just starts chuckling, flinches away, and then glares at you

If you also just wiggle a finger under his chin/beak it results in low laughter and like- squawks and chitters lmao

Considering his head is just a skull, I'm assuming he's just completely bones

So now its law that his ribs are the worst

That spot results in deep, LOUD belly laughter

His spine is also slightly ticklish ( You could say it sends shivers down his spine- )

It's kind of hard to actually tickle him, because either he catches you before you do anything

or you're getting a spot that just isn't ticklish ( so you better aim for ribs, chin, or his "void neck" unless you want that quick retaliation that is in store )

Lots of empty threats when being tickled like "I will launch you into the Orion constellation, I swear to Osiris!"

He also has a tendency to call the ler "worm" as well

guess who he calls it the most

That just results in him getting wrecked twice as hard

Lots of wrestling if you manage to get him down, but it's very rewarding when you manage to get past that wall of defense and get him to laugh ( Marc and Jake usually gets that satisfaction )

Definitely holds in his laughter and then breaks a minute in

Teases aren't really the most effective thing, because Khonshu is so stubborn that he HIMSELF teases/provokes the ler

Usually it's just to get them riled up like "Bite me, Spector" or something like that lol

It usually backfires on him though because riling up any of the boys ends you up with an extra five minutes of tickles

He's most susceptible to being tickled by Marc, but he gets ganged up occasionally by all three if he's just being a straight up jerk

Khonshu's the type of person that answers the question "Are you ticklish?" with a "No.", and then when the person who initiated the question turns around, he's v a n i s h i f i e d ( literally )

DO NOT try to get him if he has his moon staff in hand

Unfortunately Steven had to learn that the hard way :(

He has accidentally clocked someone on the head with it in result of pure surprise

But beware if you do attempt to tickle him, he might forgive but he won't forget

Only tickles someone if he's provoked enough or if he's just purely annoyed

Much more of a ler than a lee

Khonshu is SCARY ler bro

Since he's been watching from afar for most of Marc, Steven, and Jake's tickle fights, he knows what makes each of them turn into a giggle puddle :,)

He sometimes sneaks up behind his lee, and lifts them up to get them

To add onto that, I feel like he'd also go "BOO!" when approaching just because he finds it funny ( meanie )

Steven is probably Khonshu's favorite of the three to tickle, partly because every time he sneaks up on him and spooks him it's the funniest sound ever, and partly because Steven is adorable when he's giggling himself silly :,)

He isn't going to admit it, of course

Prefers casual teasing to baby talk

He doesn't really start most of the tickle fights, but he WILL end it

The tickle fights Khonshu DOES start usually begins with him waiting for, let's say Steven, to stand somewhere behind, maybe Jake.

So Khonshu will just appear behind Jake when he's not looking and skitter his side. And then when he turns around, Khonshu just-

"It was Grant."

and then leave the premises 2.4 seconds later

I see Khonshu as kind of a goofy/ruthless ler

And as in goofy, I mean like little unintentional things he does like switching between tickling someone's back to their tummy every 5 seconds, which in turn gets whoever he's tickling to wiggle back and forth lmao

or like just goes into a deep pondering state wondering "Wait, Steven's worst spot is his sides, right? Wait no that's Jak- NO ITS MARC?"

and from the lee's perspective while he's thinking, it just looks really silly

But ooohhh ho ho his ruthlessness balances it out, you'd think Khonshu's the Egyptian god of vengeance if you didn't know any better

He can say "tickle" probably 26 times in a row with absolute confidence

He also might comment on embarrassing things kinda poker-face like "Hm, you're face is going a little red, Spector. Are you quite alright?"

If Khonshu's feeling a lot more mischievous, he might sneak in a few pokes or nuzzles from his beak

Definitely an anticipation and surprise tickler, like hovering his hands over a spot, and then changing to a different spot last second when you least expect it

She suddenly started scribbling his sides , and he started giggling like crazy " Sahahahtop ahahahaha " . "Hey you know about my tickle kink right, so let me tickle you ". She said like nothing is happening ." Aahahre yhohou crazy "

Steven said between laughing .

That time Marc and Jake refuse to take control .

" We will take control and gonna get your revenge but right now let her have fun" Marc said enjoying that how ticklish Steven is .

"Oh god ah stop " She said regretting her decision on trusting Steven. "Said that you will regret it "Marc said teasing her .

"OHOHKAY STOHOHOP PLEAHEEHSE"Roshni trying to say but her laughter betray her "I am not even started yet " he said ready to give raspberries .

"Don't NOHOHOHOHOHOH HAHAHAHAHAHA" she laughed because of raspberries Marc is giving . Soon he starts nibbling in her ribs ."Oh god Marc , please " she is so done .

She has no energy left for protesting ,how can even she protested she is the one who allow Steven to tie her up . She can't bear Marc , now how is she gonna bear Jake .

Soon when Marc feel little tired he stops "now you can breath " Marc said to Roshni teasingly "thank you "she said with sarcasm in her tone .

"Oh , so you want more tickles , mi amor " Said the spanish man spidering his fingers in her belly " Oh dear lord , no-STAHAHAHAHP ".

Some days were harder than others.

Khonshu had long since grown accustomed to his present state—malnourished, most definitely, and somewhat inhibited by old wounds on top of it—but the length of time under which he’d had no choice but to suffer did not make the affair any easier with which to deal. The constant nagging ache deep in the core of his wellspring—what he could only suspect was the closest equivalent to hunger in mortals, as he didn’t quite experience the same sensations—was an ignorable, background sensation at this point. Any bit of a boon he was granted by his few remaining followers soothed the worst of that acute, piercing emptiness, but given the fact that his avatars required continual support via the maintenance of the magical integrity of his ceremonial armor, oftentimes the energy would instead be passed right along to them instead of being kept for himself.

Such was the explanation behind Khonshu’s ghastly appearance—how could he sustain his physical manifestations when the continuation of his duties sapped what little energy he had from his own shallow wellspring to start with?

He never spent very much time taking in his own visage, whether it be in reflections provided by glass or by water. Even still, however—after over two thousand years of being trapped in the unrelentingly vicious reality of scrounging around for any scraps of divine energy he could come across for the sake of alleviating the hollowness resounding within himself—he would catch himself expecting to see glimpses of his old silhouette in his periphery, but was always met with the skeletal remains of the glory long ripped from him by his fellow deities.

He tried not to dwell on it too much, and it usually never came up naturally—most of his avatars through time assumed, given their ignorance towards the culture from which he’d originated and had nurtured, that it was how he had always appeared. Languishing in the negative feelings and memories that particular line of thought always drudged back to the surface only debilitated him. Righteous anger was easier to deal with than the repressed wounds still weeping from betrayal and despair. Those feelings never went away, really, given that his ‘hunger’ was a near-constant reminder of that single life-altering event over two millennia prior, but…most of the time he was able to shove them to the back of his mind.

You certainly helped him to do so.

An inexplicable balm to his soul, Khonshu found relief and refuge in the unshakeable lee you formed against the rest of the mortal world entombing him. Your steadfast dedication and devotion fed him, little by little, just enough to ease the ache. Perhaps it was irrational to rely upon that mutual symbiosis, a feedback loop doomed to fail eventually, since he was forced to channel that energy right back into the armor to keep you from harm, but he’d be damned with assurity if he was forced to forfeit you now.

You, mercifully, didn’t comment upon the…unfettered touchiness…that he displayed when the weariness that always followed a night out executing his justice superceded his finer mental factulties.

Your bed was much too small to fit the both of you comfortably, but you’d insisted that it would work if you sat up against the headboard and he pulled his legs up onto the mattress. Your fingers were light against the sweep of his shoulder, tracing the stark line of wiry muscle that conjoined at the scapulae. You’d already explored much of his back this way, reading the topography of him with your palm. Your other hand rested upon the curve of his head, thumb rubbing small circles that metronomed your steady, slow breaths and your occasional quiet humming.

He should have felt foolish, contorted not unlike a child with his head resting on your lap. Throughout the lengthy span of his life, he’d never stooped so low to demean himself in such a manner. The rest of the Ennead would make him the laughing stock of all pantheons if they knew of his particular…weakness for you. Although the Grecians often intermingled with man, the Ennead had long since forbidden it…but he couldn’t help but wonder. If it was so wrong, why did it make him feel the way that it did?

Even still, it would not be a good thing for them to discover. He didn’t fear himself much anymore, but if anything ever happened to you or Badru…

“You okay?” you asked softly, smoothing your hand up between his shoulders to cup the nape of his neck, rousing him from the light, dozing trance into which you’d unwittingly induced him. “You went all stiff on me.”

Khonshu grumbled. I am fine.

You let out a noncommital, if skeptical, sound and shifted a little to press the heels of both your hands into the meat of his shoulders. He winced as you dug in, working some of the tension free from his physical form. “Just got you relaxed and then you went and started overthinking again,” you tutted. “What goes on in that big noggin of yours, I wonder?”

Nothing good, he mumbled.

“I already knew that much,” you huffed. You found a particularly sore place below his scapula and his fingers knotted into the material of your t-shirt tighter as he smothered a grunt. “You’re just as bad as I am.”

You couldn’t fathom the heaviness of all that weighs on my mind, he pointed out sourly.

“Mmhmm.” You leaned forward and reached down to press at the base of his spine. His hiss was muffled by your thigh. “And you fuss at me for not keeping the armor as long as I need it,” you sighed. “Why don’t you use your abilities on yourself, too?”

Because he would bear it if it meant harm wouldn’t befall you. Because he would starve himself until he withered to dust if you had another chance to retain the breath in your lungs. Because you could bleed him dry and he would give you the knife with which to tap the celestiality that coursed through his arteries.

Heliopolitan maladies differ from that of humanity’s, he said instead.

“That seems a little counterintuitive,” you remarked, dragging up his sides to rid his ribs of their tension.

I require a greater expenditure of energy due to the nature of my body being primarily incorporeal and thus sustained only on my magic. It is much easier to heal tangible tissue. Khonshu tilted his head to peer up at your face, creased with determination and focused on the length of his back sprawling away from you. The material of your duvet was soft and warm against the bare skin of his torso, a balm against the perpetual chill that clung to his bones. The natural, thriving heat that emanated from your body certainly helped. What I consume is sufficient.

You frowned, eyes traveling over the gaunt press of his skeleton against his ashen, tawny flesh, barely hidden by the leanness of what muscle he’d retained in this form. “Somehow I doubt that.”

It was enough to sustain him and little else, but you didn’t need to know that.

You are fretting over nothing. Although that is nothing new, he jibed, hoping to redirect you.

He could sense your dubiety, but you thankfully dropped the subject. “...Do you sleep?”

Rarely. Allowing himself to slip into dormancy in his present state for any considerable length of time was a dangerous game he only dared to play when his wellspring was at its lowest tolerable level. He had also always preferred to remain vigilant in order to watch over the earth for any outstanding threats that may crop up on the misfortune-prone planet. Now that he had you and Ru under his protection, he especially resisted the urge that tugged at him at his weakest points. But I am capable of it, if that is what you mean.

“I had wondered. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you with your guard down.”

There were reasons for that, too, ones that he’d prefer that you never learned.

I must never set down my creed for even a moment, he said, else the world fall to shambles in my absence.

“That’s called catastrophizing, in my realm of expertise,” you pointed out gently, forfeiting your inspection of his throbbing (but less achey) back and instead scratching your fingernails feather-light over his scalp. Frissons broke out over his skin and skittered down the length of his spine. “Thinking about worst case scenarios doesn’t give you any more control over what could or will happen. Plus, I think we’ve got a sufficient number of guardians all over the world to help give you a break.”

You are aware that those merchandised puppets are not even aware of the realm in which I dwell and deal, aren’t you?

“I’m pretty sure I’ve heard stories about sorcerers or something, but that’s besides the point. You need to let yourself rest occasionally. I don’t even want to imagine what several thousands of years’ worth of burnout looks like.”

You were looking directly at it, frankly. Khonshu readjusted his arms to wrap around your back, hands overlapping your waist as he buried his face into the crease of your thighs once more. I am resting.

You went silent at that, movements stilling for a long moment. Then you shifted, hunched over him, and placed a chaste, lingering kiss on the crown of his head. “Well, then I’ll leave you alone.” You returned to your position against the headboard, pillows cushioning your back, and resumed your soothing touches along his scalp, neck, and shoulders. “...If you wanted to sleep, I can stay up for you for a while. If the world starts ending, I’ll be sure to wake you up.”

It was far more tempting an offer than Khonshu could resist, given your attentiveness had coaxed that old exhaustion to the surface like the tide. He wondered if you possessed any supernatural abilities of your own, or if it was because that was the same tone his mother had always used to convince him to sleep when he was young. You wouldn’t know if there was a disturbance in the astral plane if it struck you by the back of your head, he murmured, sagging into you steadily.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” you returned quietly, thumb tracing the impression of a scar along his temple. “Just let me take care of you, Khonshu.”

He was trying his best, truly. It was certainly difficult to protest such a precious gift offered with no malicious intents underlying its tender promises.

BOY DID YOU ASK A QUESTION!!!!!!!

I’ve waxed on and on about the writers of Moon Knight. The best ones, the worst ones, a few mediocre ones that got the job done…. 

But what about the art? 

Each artist has their own style, their own ideas, and their own grasp of Moon Knight. 

When you get very lucky, you get a writer and artist dream team that create something beautiful. 

Let’s start with Bill Sienkiewicz. 

(THIS WASN'T EVEN FOR A COMIC. HE JUST FUCKING DREW THIS FOR FUNZIES)

He was not the first to draw Moon Knight. THAT was Don Perlin!  Look at this cape design! 

He was relatively new to the comic scene, but quickly a very sought after man. New Mutants, Electra, and many others for many different publishers. 

And even after he left us he still pops in now and then to remind us that no one…NO ONE can draw Moon Knight like he can.  Look at Sienkiewicz JUST FLEXING. 

(2014 people!!) Someone came to him and went, "Hey we could use a Moon Knight Variant. Do you wanna dip back in and hand us a little ol' Moony?"

And he gave them this and I'm sure they went "...WTF we didn't even ask for this. We thought he'd just do him perched on a building or something in the distance. What do we do with this? It's too good holy crap."

But he gave us more than the cowl. He gave us the men who wear it. 

And as amazing as his art was:

I could wax on and on about Bill all day… But let’s take a look at some other artists. 

Kevin Nowlan Kept the dark parts of the suit and the billowing cape. 

Bo Hampton is the one that teamed up with Zelenetz to give us a fantastic sleek and angry design. Here's MK punching some Neo-Nazi in the face! 

Chris Warner came later in "First of Khonshu" run and started with a very classic 1990s muscle bound and glitzy design. A design that might start to look familiar to those of you with a sharp eye (look at that belt. We're approaching the BLING age of Moon Knight.) 

This was a weird time in comics for Moon Knight. We were switching out writers a lot and he suddenly had a much more Egyptian style theme. 

Moon Knight art goes on a WILD ride after this. We get the "Marc Spector" run that spans late 80s and early 80s and the art gets very 90s. Solid, Dark, and BUSY.

Sal Velluto (With the Punisher! This was a fantastic pair up!) 

Ron Garney Plays with the sharp edges of the cloak and that’s nice. Also gives his mask a bit more of a definition. 

Gary Kwapisz comes in with a BOLD metallic Moon Knight. Just look at those fists! Time time in MK was just wild you guys. 

James Fry flies in and tries to make sense of those MUSCLES. 

1993 arrived and the 90s hit HARD. 

Stephen Platt deep in that 90s style. 

What’s happening here? I don’t know. You don’t know. No one knows. But man does it look ACTION COOL. 

Muscles got BIG in this period in the 90s. Anatomy got weird and chest size had no limits. 

Tommy Lee Edwards steps in and slims our pal Moon Knight back down.

Now THAT is a breath of fresh air. I love this. 

Look at the use of that cape! And the hood? The subtle mask outline… Yes please. 

Mark Texeira steps in after this. Let me tell you guys about this art. This is the start of the modern age. 2008! 

(Look at the little Moon Knight design in the upper right near the signature! OMG little cutie!) Also the details in that rugged face and wet hair. 

But how does the suit look?

Nice.

We leave behind the glorious Tex and head to David Finch! You might recognize some of these motiffs as we get to some more popular runs. 

Hello there fist spikes! This is when Moon Knight starts to get his reputation as being a bit…punchy… 

The point in his cowl gets defined in this style too. 

Mico Suayan takes on this hard hitting run too. 

Clean lines, dark darks and white whites and that cape! The spikes are gone but the muscles are coming back.

This was a big action packed run and numerous artists got a chance. 

Now… This is about where I stop listing every single artist because it gets too fast pace with single issues, annuals, events, and all that fun business. SO here are some highlights. Also I have an upload limit so I'm sorry I can't show you all the beautiful art styles that branched off at this time.

Bong Dazo  gave us that little sad startled cat. 

Jerome Opeña Had such AMAZING action picks. I’ve never seen action done so well. And that outfit! 

I…I could go on forever about this artist and the run he did. But that’s for another day… Just know that I think about it all the time and it lives in my head rent free. 

I’m going to skip a lot here and jump to the BIG GUNS. 

Hate the run, LOVE the art. 

My dear Alex Maleev makes it worth it. 

The absolute SLAYING of the white in every image kills me. LOOK. LOOOK AT THE USE OF NEGATIVE SPACE.

It honestly brings me back to Sienkiewicz. 

I’m screaming inside holding this up to the moon. 

From there we slide SO easily into Declan Shalvey my precious. 

You know what I’m talking about. 

Ron Ackins Took over from there and it was stellar.

I am going to skip over THREE artists on purpose because not only was the RUN bad (the worst) but also the ART was just the worst. (See BEMIS run. Ugh. Nothing was good in that run.) 

Do I need to talk about Greg Smallwood? 

Do I really need to post anything about Greg? 

Or Cappuccio who works with MacKay's current run? 

Or Federico Sabbatini who also fills in with MacKay?

So who is my favorite? 

Hard to say… I’m caught up in the colors and designs of some, the action styles of others. Sometimes the raw power of MK’s fighting or just in how clever his cape and cowl are done. 

And sometimes I crave that amazing 1980s Sienkiewicz designs of Moon Knight in the rain, Stained Glass Scarlet’s everything, and the shape of Moon Knight (or shapelessness of him). 

I could argue that ANY artist that draws Moon Knight during a good run is my favorite. I could forgive most any style if the story is right and the style will weave into the words and the flow of his cape will settle into my heart once again. 

And sometimes….

Barring very specific circumstances/verses, immortality would be a Curse. What would they do with all that time? Endless nights of the same thing.

'Powers' doesn't interest the system. It definitely doesn't interest Marc.

We've had two 'tests' in 616 in the past 4 years.

One is a really lousy Avengers event Aaron slapped MK with. Basically, Khonshu takes over the world, convinces Marc to steal the Avengers' powers, and Marc summons the Phoenix to make it stop. Which fixes the Khonshu thing. Marc lets the Phoenix go because it's trying to get him to reduce Earth to ash.

Y'know. The usual. I'm summarizing it badly because I Don't Like It but it is why the cooler stuff happens. This is why Khonshu is in Asgardian prison, why Marc is in Avengers-Mandated Therapy, and why he started the Midnight Mission.

This is a summer event, where MK and Taegukgi square off and are effected by the chaos magic crystals (narrated by weirdly hot Agatha). We get some silly, some Cool moments, and then a wham speech.

Power and bargains are why the system's in this whole MK situation to begin with. Marc accepted the deal with Khonshu because he didn't want to die. Since then, he's grappled with being dormant, feeling he's a walking corpse, and hurting those he's close to. The longer he was MK, the more losses he took, the harder he gripped onto what he could control.

Therapist: "Hm. A wise answer. Well-considered and compassionate. And wholly out of character. I hope you'll understand if I discount it."

While Marc was totally trying to get a registration card after the superhero civil war and was also full-tilt in his most violent 'era,' he still cared.

"Fists of Khonshu don't die" is Marc's unofficial defiant motto. Badr said Khonshu can't raise them anymore from being in bad god prison and...Marc didn't really change anything about his behavior after learning it.

In a way, they are immortal. Just not in a good way. The body is always restored after resurrections. Their minds, souls, what have you, begin to fade. After they wear out, they are brought to Khonshu's side.

(And yes, 'feels like a corpse, dresses in dead man's clothing' and 'can't die' are both experienced/not completely contradicting)
