Black Femme Flag and Femme Symbol by thegenderthieves

Continuing to repost some of my friends' stuff from their terminated accounts so that it's more easily findable (with their permission ofc) All text is pasted straight from the original coining!

The femme version of the black butch flag is out! It’s inclusive of all black femmes

The colours are inspired by the femme flag and the dyke flag (you don’t need to have reclaimed dyke to use this flag ofc!)

Meaning:

Black - black history and black sapphic history

Purple - lesbian and sapphic history, love of women and non-men, sapphic power

Lavender - femininity

Light pink - femmeness, gender expression and/or gender non-conformity, unity

Pink - inclusivity of all sapphics, including trans, non-binary, mspec, aroacespec, and other sapphics

Magenta - breaking sapphic stereotpes

Lotus and labrys axe - femininity, strength, rebellion, and liberation

My Femme Symbol (not black-exclusive):

My femme symbol is free to use on other flags (with credit). Both the symbol and flag can be made into emojis and used elsewhere without credit as long as you’re not claiming them as your own!

I was watching video on the history of the lesbian pride flag by @strange-aeons. This image came to mind as a sign from god that I must make. It was originally supposed to be trans men and women are real men and women but my mind went else where. This is dedicated to all lesbians, lipstick lesbians, butch lesbians, nonbinary lesbians, trans women, trans women who are also lesbians, trans men and everyone who terfs discriminates against.

Also the characters name is MENACE. All caps. It came to me when I was walking my dogs. They were speaking to me.

I am also tagging some terf tags so this cause some stir. 💕💕💕💕 you aren’t a real feminist if you don’t believe in equal rights for ALL women.

I wouldn't call it lesbophobic at all. I like that it takes note of every demographic that identifies as femme, not just lesbians. I think you can love being a lesbian and femme without acting like we're the only femmes out there; that doesn't make you internally lesbophobic.

Hey, tumblr, it’s been a while…

I’ve been wanting to come back for a while, but it’s been pretty difficult in a lot of ways. In April, a (now former) mutual accused me of some pretty egregious things that I had absolutely no part in. With these accusations, they let me know that they had essentially been surveilling me and my blog for months with an excuse of “wanting it not to be [me]” while I spent those months trying to be their friend and get to know them better.

After they accused me of these things, following threats to block me if I didn’t respond to their messages on time (I was working 40+ hours a week at the time), I felt so unsafe here in this space that was meant to be my own. All those months, I’d been assuming this was a safe person while they’d spent that time harboring unspoken suspicions, collecting “evidence” instead of communicating with me. So I went ghost mode on here… I asked them to give me space, they agreed, and then they blocked me everywhere— even Pokémon Go.

Even now, I’m nervous to come back. This person has since been terminated, but I know that they’ve remade, and I know that some of my beloved mutuals are also mutuals with them, so actually coming back and posting is nerve-wracking.

I’ve been here, though, lurking, saving drafts (so many drafts, oh my god), sending anons, and checking in on y’all. I’ve missed my mutuals and followers so much. I know this is “just a blog,” but I really care about y’all and am so grateful to those who have stuck around all these years.

So much has gone down in the past five months, and I’ll update y’all, trust. But for now, I’m gonna ease back into it all. Gonna queue up what I’ve saved to my drafts so if you see me reblogging a million posts from you from four months ago, just know it’s been a long time coming lol.

God, reading about and listening to podcasts about queer history it's disappointing to see that people have been infighting about the same shit for years

#Harry Hay and the others had the right idea when they formed the Mattachine Society #but of course the conservative assimilation gays got into and drove him out #beacause Hay was trying to spread the word about queer history and the very real culture that was there #and the conservatives were saying 'oh no we're just like straight people! we have to dress and act straight!'#'also we can't have any communist links cus the lavender scare! even though the communist party doesn’t like gays either!'#anyways Harry eventually embraced his femme side and founded the radical faeries #(Michael and Emmet attend a gathering in queer as folk and it's cool af)#but yeah Mattachine was cool but it died for a reason #and got all but replaced by the Gay Liberation Front post Stonewall #the podcast is Queer Serial btw #there was a really fascinating episode with a radio interview of three self described transexual women and a cop #who was actually trying to help and promote their cause #(very rare)#but my god it's sad how relevant it still is today #queer history #lgbtqia+ history #queer

“Lavender Menace” was an action led by Radicalesbians, with women from the Gay Liberation Front and several feminist organizations, at the National Organization for Women’s (NOW) Second Congress to Unite Women in May 1970 to protest the rejection of lesbians in the second-wave women’s liberation movement.

This action largely led to NOW’s resolution to support lesbians in 1971 and increased visibility for and awareness of lesbian issues nationwide.
