Lap of Legends seems like a big event. They spent millions of dollars designing this technology, they reserved Silverstone, they invited all these legends out, they even had Crofty and Karun commentate.
But they only aired it live in the US late at night on channels that aren’t very common. They’re going to “distribute” it in other countries, but have not mentioned how or when. They made a few articles and videos about it on their website/app, but they only made one Instagram post about it.
And then, to top it off, they announce Alex’s contract extension 6 hours later, which obviously is very exciting, but we already knew his contract was until 2025.
It just seems like such a big deal for Williams and motorsport (and Logan) but they kind of buried it under the rug?
Idk, I was very excited for Lap of Legends and I loved it a lot, so I want it to get the attention it deserves.
Guess who is sobbing watching lap of legends, logan sargeant is a stronger man than i am because if the biggest project i have ever been on got overshadowed by my teammate resigning i would die, how can you disrespect someone so much i am not okay
I’m kind of obsessed with this. This is something that has never been done before. I wonder if other teams will do similar things? Imagine Charles racing historical Ferrari drivers
not only did williams horribly mistime alex albon's re-signing announcement, grossly overshadowing logan sargeant's lap of legends event (and in some way, intentional or not snubbing their sponsors too i believe ? could be wrong), the one thing he had going for him, but they're now going into imola with upgrades for alex's car and not his ? and they have james vowles on air saying logan's at risk and they're talking to other drivers ?
logan may very well be the shittiest driver on the grid, but i still don't think that's any way to treat a driver you have onboard with more than half a season left. but again, this is formula 1, where not much else comes before money and victory.
