Platonic! Voltron x Tiktok Obsessed Reader

Just another silly headcanon I thought of, i kinda get lost in the sauce when I’m scrolling through tiktok so i was inspired to do this😍🙏 enjoy my guys xoxo💋

Let’s imagine that tiktok is still a relevant thing during this time since this show is set in the future😻

Even before leaving Earth, Reader was very obsessed with tiktok. Phone opened on the app already, you probably had like a couple hours stacked on it. It was the only thing that kept you from dying of boredom

So when leaving the planet, you were DEVASTATED to see that your phone was quite literally useless in space

No charger, no wifi, and no more silly videos to entertain you

The most you had was your camera but the battery was a major problem

The team notices your more dazed-off look during meetings and on missions, often seeing you fiddle with your phone and just swiping through all your apps

That's until you go to Pidge to see if she can work some magic which SHE IS ABLE TO DO (so slay of her tbh)

She explains that she was able to route the phones connection to the electric waves from nearby planets but you stopped listening at that point

You’re both amazed when you reboot the app to see it completely different, yet similar to what it was before, only now it was filled with many different kinds aliens and their own videos

You are able to see the different environments and types of aliens that are scattered across the universe which was super cool to you!!!!

Cue you literally recording EVERYTHING the team does, let it be missions, meetings, or even fights which starts pissing Keith off a bit (bro feels like you’re not taking the whole voltron thing seriously💀💀)

It doesn’t bother you though since now you’re able to drag Lance and Hunk to do different kinds of trends that are popular on the new app

You manage to build up a small fan base because of the videos on your account, many people loving seeing the life of a paladin of Voltron😻‼️‼️

At one point you manage to get all of the paladins and Coran to do mini “get to know the team” videos (which I imagine are like the short videos on YouTube if you know which ones I mean)

Keith thinks the readers whole tiktok account is dumb and ‘useless’ in his words but is completely in shock when you get recognized by many people when visiting new planets because of your popularity

Shiro I think might find the whole thing a bit strange but he definitely entertains your ideas and involves himself with your account. You make him feel young when you force him to do one of the trends that is popular during that time

Allura doesn’t fully understand what the app is used for and see no real use for it until she realizes that your spreading the word of Voltron around. Then she does start forcing herself into your videos, which you don’t really mind (she loves being in your videos but is really awkward💔)

Lance is the one who is with you in most of your videos, often doing dance trends or mini vlogs with you. He loves how people also know him and enjoys the popularity he has with your followers😜 Has stolen your phone just to have Lance one on ones with your followers

Hunk is another one who usually is dragged into any shenanigans you and Lance are up to, whether it’s pranking one of the paladins or teaching your followers how to cook meals (he loves the compliments people give him when they try his recipes out)

Pidge RARELY is in any of your videos, mostly because she doesn’t like having a camera shoved up her face randomly. But she sometimes does do one of your dumb videos when she’s bored and has nothing to do, which leads to you featuring her more often

Keith is a fan favorite honestly, the people love his sarcastic and brooding attitude, which he claims he doesn’t have. He doesn’t mind being in your videos but he’s most of the time standing like a wall not knowing what to do with himself💀💀 (he enjoys being included with you guys though💔)

Coran LOVES being in your videos since he feels like the main character in them! He’s actually stolen your phone multiple times just so he could post some videos of himself, he loves the attention he gets by being Voltrons secondhand man hehe

Overall, the team grew to enjoy your funny and inclusive videos, it helps them break out of the serious routine they’ve gotten used to while in space :D

Am I the only one who sees Keith as like a super smiley person post s7-8? Like, seeing him s1 vs s8 is crazy and so sweet bc he went from an incredibly angry and closed off person to someone who's able to let people in and comfort others and control his temper better. Like when I picture Keith in later seasons, especially if he's dating Lance, as a super smiley person. Also, Klance and Broppy are the same thing. So. Yeah. I love thinking about how far the paladins have come, especially Keith, and that one scene between Keith and Hunk on Earth is SO SWEET!! Keith, imo is someone who, after having learned that there are more people than just Shiro who wants to make an effort to get to know him, and letting people in isn't the end of the world, and having friends is an actually attainable idea, is someone who enjoys laughing and smiling and being open towards people. It's not necessarily that he didn't want to get to know people, it's that people didn't want to get to know him. He said in his vlog that he pushed people away before they got the chance to reject him. I could only imagine how proud Shiro would be about the fact that Keith has a whole friend group now (same with pidge but I can make a separate post about them if anyone wants me to!), and even if he still isn't the most approachable person ever, he has a whole group of people who understand him and are willing to defend him for it. I imagine that Keith is someone who has that rough exterior and looks mean and yeah he's not very good at talking, but like he's so sweet and people should make an effort to get to know him.

-the other paladins make accounts around the rebrand time as well

-pidge shows off their new tech and gives advice to young people interested in tech but also decided to start doing conspiracy videos

-hunk does cooking and partners with pidge on their tech as well shows mini day vlogs

-adam and shiro share an account and are a well known couple who act as everyones dads and shows off their days interior design and their attempts to figure out social media

-allura does makeup and fashion videos and is a literal goddess with her daily mini vlogs

-lance does dancing, skin care, and make up tutorials, mini vlogs and really anything its why his account does so well.

- he finally convinces keith to make an account and teaches him how to do all the transitions, save sounds and the bassics

-keith gets the hang of it, given he has "the best teacher" aka lance

-keith get huge on alternative tiktok partially for lance telling all his followers about keith but also for his makeup and fashion and some unintentional thirst traps (he's just hot).

-pidge and keith often feature on eachothers tiktoks to talk about conspiracies and cryptid hunting

-Keith also appears as lances model in alot of videos and lance appears in a lot of Keiths videos about his day (he spends a lot of time with lance)

-unintentionally lance ends up catching lots of cute moments of them falling in love, although keith has loved him for a while.

-lance doesnt relize it at first but after rewatching all his videos with keith he starts to realize he likes this boy so much

-the entire group watches this unravel

-eventually their audiences catch on quickly to what's happening and ships them

-keith gets caught staring at lance with obvious heart eyes in the background of one of lances videos

-lance calls keith beautiful in a video on allura's page

-after a video of lance and keith sharing drinks on a roof top at night gets posted all of the fans go crazy because keith is not being subtle

-lance is always the first to comment on keiths videos and everyone alwayscomments the " 😏" under his comments

-keith finally posts a video of him and lance in keiths apartment cooking dinner when keith finally kisses him with a confirmation that they are together.

-they continue to post as they normally would but now there are sweet moments they share with everyone and sappy post

Lance’s Paladin Vlog (hc idk??)

Okay so we’re all thinking he’s gonna do I video on skin care or personal hygiene right?

but

may I propose...

A really heartfelt message to his family back home?  

Him showing them his cool armor and bayard?  

Introducing them to blue?  

Showing off his sharpshooting skills?  

Asking his mom if she kept watering his house plants for him?  

Realizing that they all probably think he’s dead?  getting a little sad, then reassuring them he’s alive; “I’m alive and still as handsome as ever” *finger guns then sad little chuckle*  

Maybe venting about his self-worth issues.  

Talking about each of the paladins.  Getting his little sappy smile when talking about keith lol.  

Then telling them all about the space mall and kaltenecker and the game system he and Pidge bought.  

And then finally wrapping it up by saying that he feel so honored fighting in this space war and protecting the innocent and saving the universe and he sorta stares off with a really content smile, and then shakes his head and says bye and that he loves them and misses them every single day.  And that he’ll be home soon.

Thoughts on Lance’s vlog:

So, admittedly I don’t pay as much attention to Lance as I do to Keith or Allura. With Keith’s vlog, I’d pretty much figured out 99% of what was said about his character by myself already; the only real revelation I got from it was that his mother left.

Whereas with Lance, who I don’t think about as much, his vlog had some stuff in it that gave me a slightly better understanding of some aspects of his character? I know there’s some people who are disappointed it was so girl-centric (for lack of a better term?), but I actually really loved it and found it cute as hell, and I think I walked away from it with a little bit more love for Lance than I what had before.

First and foremost, this is just a personal-opinion post, not a rebuttle or anything. But if anyone has their own thoughts, I’d still love to hear them!!

First of all, about the difference between vlogs: Lance isn’t as introspective a person as Keith is. There’s no way he’d sit in front of a camera and start self-reflecting and unloading all his insecurities. Obviously Keith didn’t even mean to start doing that himself, but Keith overthinks things and is very self-aware & existential, and one thing just led to another. Lance is different; Lance postures. He puts on a show. He doubts himself sometimes, but doesn’t really internalise his insecurities the way Keith, Allura or Shiro do. He doesn’t dwell over it outside of his lowest moments. Maybe in comparison to Keith’s vlog, Lance’s felt underwhelming to some; I didn’t feel that way, I loved it a lot! The difference felt in character to me, and I still came away from it feeling like I learnt something new about him. It made me want to pay attention to him more, I guess.

Here are a couple of things I personally found pretty interesting about the vlog itself:

Lance likes Allura. He’s genuine in his affection and admiration for her, more so than I’d originally assumed; it’s not just a flimsy crush and him flirting with her just because she’s a pretty girl, anymore. And no, I’m not looking at this through shipping goggles, because I really don’t care about shipping.

Maybe he does find flirting fun- but to me, the difference between what was showcased in the vlog being something that “reduces Lance to a stereotype” and it being something genuinely interesting that adds to his character, is that Lance is looking for an honest connection with the girls he’s flirted with. He’s not just messing around; he values love! He values finding those connections! He’s in love with love and wants to find someone special, and maybe he can get distracted by that sometimes but like... he’s a teenager lmao. The point I’m trying to make is that his intentions to me don’t read as frivolous. It’s important to him; it might not be his biggest priority, but finding love is something Lance values.

Also regarding that last point, it’s worth mentioning that seasons 3+4 did see Lance mature on the flirting front- he’s reeled back a lot, and to me he seems a lot more focused on what’s important in the bigger-picture sense. Others have pointed out that he’s the only one of the lionswap trio that introduced himself as the Paladin of the lion he’s currently flying, and some people have read that as him being “desperate to feel like he has a place on the team”. I’m... a little dubious about that, tbh. Y’all are obviously free to interpret it as you want, but personally I felt like it was actually an indication of how his confidence has grown. Obviously, insecurities don’t disappear overnight, and his talk with Keith wouldn’t have magically solved every issue with self-doubt Lance has. But I honestly believe that becoming the Red Paladin has been really good for Lance, and he’s become more self assured and confident about what he has to offer to the team. Even in the show’s canon, he’s been voicing his opinion more readily, calling shots more often (whether or not they’re listened to by Shiro is another discussion entirely hmmm). I think he did walk away from that talk with Keith with some sense of validation and assurance. To me, him calling himself the Red Paladin felt like him owning that. It made me really proud of him?? He’s doing so well. It’s positive character growth, and I’m sure that it’ll be touched on more thoroughly in upcoming seasons. For now, it’s still definitely happening in the background.

And my favourite thing about the vlog; Lance can get really embarrassed about admitting his affection for people out loud, even just to himself. I’ve always thought that’s kinda why he claimed he didn’t remember the “bonding moment” with Keith in season one; that was a really touching moment the two of them shared, and he was embarrassed about it, so he treated it flippantly. At the time, I was a little miffed by it; It was something that was important to Keith, and in dismissing it so casually he unintentionally hurt Keith’s feelings. I never held a grudge against Lance for it, but I also wasn’t really thinking about Lance at the time (I was too preoccupied about what the situation meant for Keith lmao). Seeing that trait of Lance’s come up again similarly in the vlog under a different, softer context- him saying “Yeah Allura’s pretty great” and immediately getting all blushy and flustered and backtracking like “NO WAIT I MEAN I’m pretty great and she’s obviously totally into me hahaha oh god how do I delete this” was.... so goddamn endearing. He uses flirtatious posturing and sarcasm and pretending to be some kind of smooth-talking ladies’ man to hide how genuine his feelings are. He pretends he’s totally confident about Allura’s feelings for him being reciprocated because he’s embarrassed about how much he cares about her. I’m not even sure if I care all that much about Allurance as a pairing, or if I’d be all that invested in seeing any kinda of romance subplot being played out in canon; romance just isn’t my jam. Their steadily growing friendship is much more important to me, personally. But , just as a character trait in general, just seeing how flustered Lance can get openly admitting that he has any kind of genuine feelings for someone was hhhh so real- and seeing him immediately try and cover it up with his usual posturing, going back to that whole “putting on a show” deal, was very in-character and just.... idk man, it just kinda bugs me that it’s being dismissed by the fandom as “stereotyping/not giving us any insight to his character” when personally it was something that really endeared him to me.

Seriously I know it wasn’t what people were hoping for, but I really loved the vlog guys. I can’t pinpoint exactly what it was about it, but it made me love Lance just a little bit more than I did.
