hi, planning a trip to LA this fall for my wife and I and was wondering if you had any recs/must dos? Going to stay around Universal and spend 1 day there but still have 3 more days to fill. Hikes for sure but still trying to figure out which trails and of course there is the typical stuff (Santa Monica Pier, In n Out, etc.) but from what I read online from locals it's like, stay *away* from the tourist traps and Chinatown isn't worth it... IDK we aren't post for the gram people, but it seems like walking down the Hollywood Walk of Fame would just be a nice stop?
tldr: trying to figure out what tourists traps are worth it and which hidden gems there are 😅
This is actually a great list because I've done some of these things when in LA, and it explains it better and provides additional recs that even I'd love to do next time I'm there but haven't had time yet:
I'd also like to add El Matador in Malibu as a beautiful beach spot to visit.
Cha Cha Chicken in Santa Monica is a fave food spot I like to hit when I'm in town for Caribbean food (it's own by a friend of a friend). It's near the pier so check it out if you get a chance. I've not been there in a couple years so hopefully it hasn't fallen off, haha...
Petit Ermitage is a hotel in West Hollywood that has the most amazing rooftop areas with amazing views. Not sure if it costs to get up there if you aren't staying there... I know they have a membership fee but people take meetings up there, so... maybe you can get it/up there if you call ahead to find out.
Los Angeles County Museum of Art is fun to just go stroll around, touristy or not.
I think mostly just anything in downtown Hollywood is gonna feel super touristy and like the Times Square equivalent of LA, haha. So.
Anyway, either way I hope you find lots to do and have fun!!!
P.S. Any permanent LA residents feel free to chime in!

Where else but in Los Angeles can you find yourself in traffic behind, not a food truck or a taco truck, but a headshot truck. I suppose when an actor has an emergency need for a new headshot they don't have time to waste looking for a photographer. (From 2016)
