Warning for vomit and light alcohol drinking
-
-
Read the Warning!
-
I did this post-time skip, I hope you don’t mind!  Also, this has been in my inbox for the LONGEST time, I’m sorry about that
Steam danced in the air as Keiji slid a platter of various foods onto the table between the three. Kodzuken, Kenma’s channel, recently hit five million subscribers, and to celebrate Tetsurou invited Keiji and Koutarou over.  However, despite the celebration being for Kenma, Tetsurou and Koutarou seemed to be enjoying themselves far more.
A loud crack reached Kenma’s ears as Koutarou twisted open one of the two bottles of Sake he and Keiji brought over.  In response to the newly opened bottle, Tetsurou gave a wide grin and pushed over the small glass placed next to his plate.
“Don’t drink too much,” Keiji advised as Koutarou poured the smooth liquid into four small cups, his tone holding a combination of warning and pleading.
“Ah, Keiji!  Don’t worry, we’ll be fine,” Koutarou sang, wrapping his arm around Tetsurou and pulling him close. The two giving wide smiles which poorly hid their devious intent
Kenma rolled his eyes at the antics of the two, knowing full well just how unbearable the two can get while intoxicated.
“No thanks, I have a stream in a couple hours and I like being sober for those,” Kenma informed as Tetsurou pushed a glass in his direction.
Mumbling something about being a party pooper, Tetsurou grabbed his glass and lifted it to his own lips.
And at that, the night began.
He flavourful smell of the food platter caused everyone's mouth to water, and food was quickly disappearing from the plate.  Kenma had only grabbed a couple forkfuls of food, he didn’t eat a lot most nights and he didn’t want to start now, especially right before a stream.  As it turned out, Tetsurou had other plans.  Perhaps the mild intoxication had triggered a parental instinct in him, or maybe he was just tired of seeing Kenma eat so little- regardless of the reason, Tetsurou wanted his husband to eat.
“C’mon, the plates gonna be gone in a couple minutes, and you need to eat!  ‘Kaashi made this whole nice thing all for you, you can’t let it go to waste~  Or do you just not like his cooking?”
Kenma looked up at Keiji guiltily.  The food was good, the manga editor really knew what he was doing when it came to food.  In fact, every so often Keiji would leave little plates of food on their doorstep, something Kenma greatly looked forward to.  It was convenient considering how most night Tetsurou makes Kenma cook.  So- as to not lose this pleasantry- Kenma ate some more.  A choice which was already proving itself to be a bad one.
After he had eaten far more than usual, his phones unbearably loud alarm rang out.
“Shit.  The stream.  I gotta go, thanks for the food.”  At that, he excused himself from the scene and walked into his gaming room.
It was dimly lit, the only current source of light being various buttons on his computer and the glow of random gadgets on his wall.  The room was kept tidy, his leather chair was in pristine shape and the carpet decorating the floor didn’t have a spot of dirt.  Kenma prided himself in this fact, this room was his sanctuary and he’d be damned if he let it get dirty.  Just as he was admiring room, a sharp cramp jabbed at his midsection.  Letting out a groan, he cursed under his breath and sat down with a plop in his chair.
Leaning forward, he pressed the square button on his computer tower and relaxed in his chair as it powered on.  A soft chime emitted from the speakers and with a sigh, Knema leaned forward to set up for the stream.  It was far more difficult than usual, the screen’s light was harsh on his eyes and the twisting in his gut caused his movements to be slow.  Eventually, he was ready.  The webcam screen was small and in the bottom left of the screen, and Minecraft occupied the rest.  He had never played the game before, but he promised to begin once his channel reached 5 million.
With a sigh and groan, Kenma began the stream and uploaded onto his Instagram story.  Almost immediately people began flooding in.
“Hey guys,” Kenma greeted to the early arrivers, “So today’s the day I start Minecraft.  My username is Kodzukenn with two n’s because someone took my name, not cool.”
The chat exploded with sad pepe emotes at this.  On a normal day, this reaction would make Kenma smile- but he felt far from normal right now and the most he could muster was a small smirk.
“So I’m gonna start making the world right now while people are still coming in.”
Soft music began coming in through his headphones once he clicked the singleplayer button.  It was pleasant, and the calm notes began pulling Kenma to sleep.  Just as his eyes were about to close though, the streamer pulled himself out of the trance and muted the Minecraft music.
“I’m gonna quickly pull up some background music, then I’ll make the world.”
By now, people were beginning to notice just how run down Kenma was.  His chat began flooding with messages of concern and others telling him to take a break and stream some other time.  Kenma was to occupied with turning on music to notice them though.
Once a rather upbeat instrumental was going in the background, Kenma continued the creation of his very first Minecraft world.  Ignoring his chats pleads for creative mode, he decided to go make the world hardcore mode.  What was gaming without the constant fear of losing everything anyway?
Bright greens filled his screen and slapped Kenma across the face as the world loaded in.  Animal noises sounded out loudly all around him and suddenly everything became too much.  The game’s virtual sky was far too bright, the blue shade intertwining with the green grass and stabbing behind his eyes.  Pressing escape on the keyboard, Kenma dug his hands into his eyes in an attempt to rub away the pain.
‘Kodzuwu_ donated 5 dollars:  u don’t look gud, u can take a break if u need’ The computer’s voice rang out.
“No, no I’m good.  I’m fine,” Kenma assured, putting his hands back on the glowing keyboard.
The stream continued.  Kenma went through the various stages of Minecraft, ignoring the growing pain in his gut.
Unfortunately, just as he was putting his first but of iron in the furnace, the feeling became overwhelming.  Nausea hit him like a slap across the face, sweat beaded above his brow and his large headset suddenly became 10 times heavier.  Metallic saliva pooled in his mouth as hot liquid rushed up his throat.  Taking one last regretful look into his webcam, the Kodzuken experienced the lowest point in his career and vomited down his front.  On his screen, a skeleton shot him into a nearby pool of lava.  Before he could even get upset about the loss of his world, another wave pushed itself out of his throat.  This time he was able to grab the bin to the left of his desk.
‘Frooped donated 10 dollars: holy cow, why didnt u log off earlier?’
Kenma grimaced into the bucket as the computer voice reached his ears.  His ears were red hot with embarrassment and frustration, setting the bucket on his lap he quickly ended the stream.
“Fuck!” He screamed out, not caring if his friends were still over.
“Hey Kenma, you alright?” Tetsurou asked from the door.
In response, Kenma swirled around in his office chair to reveal his current state to his husband.
“This is your fault, I hope you know.”

Oooh would you possibly consider writing a fic about that scenario you mentioned of Kenma getting sick during a livestream?
Heyy I was wondering if you could do one where Kenma and Kuroo are just playing games then kenma feels sick and pukes and Kuroo takes care of him🥺🥺
“Hey, everyone. It’s Kodzuken here.”
Kenma waves to his online audience, booting up his game and adjusting his headset. He’s getting ready to play the latest open-world RPG, recommended to him by his viewers and the most voted on his Twitter poll by a landslide.
The chat is immediately filled with supportive messages, most asking him who he plans to main, and some asking him where his roommate is. The roommate in question, Kuroo, is currently cooking up healthier versions of Kenma’s favourite snacks.
Kenma watches the opening cutscene of the game, blinking slowly to adjust himself to the bright light. There’s an ache building up behind his eye, reminding him of the time he’d deprived himself of sleep and tried to fill in the gaps with energy drinks. Kuroo had really gotten annoyed that one time.
“Right. I’m going to walk around and see what I can do.”
As soon as he’s placed into the fantasy world, he begins to walk around as the default character. He swings his weapon around and breaks a few crates, obtaining ore and food items. After dashing for some time, he finds himself at the edge of a cliff.
“Wait, do I take fall damage?”
Before anyone can answer his question, Kenma walks right off the edge of the cliff, watching his character flail around and the chat explode.
riri_ka: KODZUKEN NO---
pedrosenpai: you really just killed him like that…
“...Oh. He died.” Kenma chuckles, as his character respawns. He’s known to be merciless with in-game characters, sacrificing them without a second thought if it helps him win. The chat spams a bunch of crying emojis and comments, and Kenma climbs back up the cliff after some struggle with getting stuck.
He eventually gets around to reaching a village, talking to the NPCs and piecing together what the game’s objective is. As he takes in the storyline and comments on everything he does, he starts to feel a tug at his stomach.
It doesn’t bother Kenma all that much. He manages to forget about it as he’s practicing the combat mechanics, getting stuck into making combos and figuring out enemy weaknesses. “I think I’m going to main her for the time being.” He chooses a female character wielding a claymore sword, and the chat erupts once again. The general consensus is that he’s made a good choice.
He picks up his water bottle, taking a sip as he closes the character screen. His body seems to warn him that he’s done something wrong. His lunch seems to sit heavy in his stomach, all of a sudden. He takes a deep breath, believing that it’s just a wave of something mild. It doesn’t go away.
“I’m gonna try and fight one of the area bosses.” Kenma warps to an area full of enemies, dashing towards a ferocious-looking plant with teeth around the corolla. It’s good practice for reading attacks, even if it decimates his party.
amphibiansoul: uh you’re getting beat up pretty badly…
darknighthero: and there goes hot sword lady
As expected, his first attempt leaves his party resting at the nearest inn. He lets out a sigh, glad that he doesn’t need to pay any in-game currency to heal. He watches the health bars refill, and in that moment, he’s jealous of video game characters.
Kenma’s stomach grumbles, loud enough for only him to hear. He brushes it off as much as his body will allow him to, pushing the nagging ache to the back of his mind. He hasn’t even gotten two hours into the game yet. He still wants to explore a little.
He recognizes nausea sitting in his chest, enough to be annoying. “I guess I should do one of the lower rank quests.” He keeps talking, so as not to rouse needless concern. He’s going to be just fine.
Kenma is used to having stomach aches and feeling nauseous, especially after sleeping too little or eating junk to keep him going. And he’s used to riding it out, until he feels the feeling slowly ebb away. But at the back of his mind, something tells him that he’s starting to feel worse.
He momentarily looks away from the monitor, sipping some water to try and calm down his stomach. It doesn’t work, and he can feel exactly where the water is sitting. He considers quitting the stream, but he’s close to finishing his quest. He hopes his body will hang on for a little longer.
“You’re going down.”
Kenma swallows, using up his willpower to go against the end-of-quest boss. As he heals and buffs his party, he’s slowly becoming aware of the sloshing in his stomach. The bright screen doesn’t help the queasiness becoming more apparent.
walkingturtle: hey is it just me or does kodzuken look pale today?
wadacchi: kodzuken are you okay?
mustardnwasabi: you can rest if you need to, don’t feel pressured
With a groan, Kenma clutches his aching stomach. The chat is filled with worried listeners voicing out their concerns, and he realizes that faking it is only getting him so far. He attempts to address them before turning off the stream, but a sick feeling in his throat makes him freeze.
He’s going to throw up. Whether he’d suddenly gotten worse or he’d powered through it for too long, he doesn’t know. Nor does he really care. His only concern is cutting the stream and grabbing a receptacle closest to him.
Kenma feels something surge up his throat, and instinctively reaches for the trash can next to his chair. He rolls his chair out of view, hastily bending down onto the floor. No matter how sick he is, he’s not broadcasting it in full view. Warm spit pools in his mouth, dripping into the trash can. He places a hand on his stomach, feeling it grumble against his touch.
A silent gag forces up his stomach’s contents. He’s relieved he’s not a loud puker, but he’s sure that everyone has heard the splatter of vomit against the trash can. Tears prickle at his eyes from the force, and he feels his cheeks redden. He hopes he doesn’t have a fever in addition to everything.
Kenma hurriedly mutes the stream, the closest button he had managed to reach. The sense of relief is quickly painted over by another intense wave of nausea. His stomach squeezes painfully, and a buzz in his ears mutes his surroundings.
He doesn’t notice a presence beside him, until a hand begins to pat his back gently. His head snaps up, only to sink back down after another round of vomiting hits him. “Breathe, Kenma. It’s okay, I turned off the stream for you.”
Kenma wants to thank Kuroo, but he instead grimaces at the pain of his stomach having emptied itself. He nods instead, rinsing his mouth and leaning his head against Kuroo’s flank. He sees the look of surprise on Kuroo’s face, but says nothing.
He crawls over to his bed, picking up his phone and seeing countless mentions of his name on Twitter. “I didn’t cut the stream fast enough,” he sighs, letting out a breath through his nose. His mouth doesn’t taste disgusting when he breathes, at least.
“I’m sure they’re all just worried about you.” Kuroo says, attempting to be reassuring. It reminds Kenma that he’s in front of a wider audience now, that could potentially see him in less than ideal moments. He lets out another groan, squinting at Kuroo.
“What if I don’t want to be fussed about?” Kenma’s mouth forms a pout. “This is what I don’t like about being a Youtuber. I want to be sick in peace. Nobody wants to hear what their favourite YouTuber sounds like when they vomit.”
Kuroo lets out a hearty laugh, pulling the covers up for Kenma. He’s one of the few constants in his life. He cares for Kenma, and Kenma does the same. Having him is a comfort, and almost feels like a luxury.
“Well, don’t concern yourself too much.” Kuroo gives Kenma a gentle pat. He doesn’t say anything to worsen his dampened mood. He knows how Kenma neglects himself when he’s focused, and that lecturing him while he’s sick won’t help. He understands, without Kenma having to tell him.
Kenma tugs at his hoodie, before he can leave to bring him something. His eyes plead him to stay, and Kuroo responds with a loose smile. It’s the expression he uses to tell Kenma that he’s hopeless, and so is he for being utterly in love with him.

Emergency Contact
Bokuto was rarely sick. He may have caught coughs and colds a few times a year, but he only needed his allergy medication, some sleep, and he’s good to go. But he was rarely sick, his immune system was forged since he was born and was given a gift of naturally having a strong immune system. For he only got sick once or twice a year, whenever he got stubborn or over fatigued. On top of that, there is no indication that he would be sick beforehand. It’s like yesterday he’s feeling well and energetic, then the next day Akaashi’s already notifying Meian that Bokuto would be resting for 3 days to a week.
It was in the middle of V-league season, on a busy Monday afternoon in Tokyo when Bokuto suddenly felt sick at 4 PM after their warm-up. He doesn’t want to admit it, but he knows that Meian and Sakusa already sensed it and were just waiting for him to give a signal or come clean. He was contemplating on continuing, hanging by a thread until they finish the match, but he couldn’t help the worry and guilt if ever one of them got infected because of him and probably their connection would be unstable because of Sakusa’s tendencies.
Bokuto walks towards Meian, he’s decided to get out of their match line-up, and doesn't want to get in their way of winning matches this season by infecting them.
“Ya cannot call Akaashi or Kuroo about this, to pick me up or anything.”
“But Bokuto, you’re not fit to go home alone, let alone wait for the match to finish. You have to go home and rest.”
“It’s Monday, Kuroo’s usually working overtime on Mondays, and I don’t wanna bother him. Akaashi’s out of town in a seminar, he’s not able to rush in and pick me up.”
“Well, do you have someone in mind? I mean I could drive you to your apartment, but someone has to take care of you.”
“I think I do, but I doubt he would be able to squeeze me in his work from home.”
“Well, you at least have to try.” Meian reassures before giving Bokuto their team phone, used as a contact to their families when they needed a time off.
Bokuto dials a number, unregistered under his list of emergency contacts. Two rings were all it took before the other line picked up.
“Hello? How may I be of help...?” the man speaks softly.
“Kenma? Hey bun, are ya busy today?”
“Koutaro? Hmm, let me check…”
There was the sound of papers flipping, keyboards clacking, and mouse clicking. Then silence, just filled with steady breaths.
“Taro, you still there?”
“Yeah, yep, still here.”
“I just have a zoom meeting by 6 in the evening with the JVA Collaboration, then I’m free before and after that.”
“Uhm...”
“Why’d you ask?”
“Can you please come get me? I don’t feel well today, Keiji and Kuroo are busy today then I thought of you- Kenma?” He asks as he hears loud rustling in the line.
“Get your stuff, I’m on my way there. Stay inside your locker room and wear your jacket, alright? See you in 10.” Then the call ended, leaving a taken aback Bokuto, before snapping out of it and starts collecting his stuff.
Kenma came fetching him exactly 10 minutes later, drove them back to his and Kuroo’s apartment, already deciding that he would spend his time taking care of his close friend rather than dropping him off at Keiji’s and driving away. It may not be obvious, but Kenma has been the silent caring and worrying friend out of them four. He’s also the best at taking care of someone sick, and mastered the way of taking care of someone through the years of Kuroo getting sick because of overfatigue. He was so worried and dedicated that he nearly canceled the meeting with JVA if not for Bokuto convincing him that he would sleep once Kenma’s in the meeting, but it didn’t stop Kenma from setting up his portable work area by the corner of their guest room where Bokuto’s resting in just to keep watch on him.
Bokuto never knew this side of Kenma and seeing this firsthand, he silently ranks Kenma one of the best nurses he ever had, second to Keiji of course. Bokuto was back in the games after 3 days, just in time for MSBY’s match against the Adlers, and ever since then Kenma’s name was registered under Bokuto’s emergency contacts in the MSBY phone and has been a speed dial in his phone.

Haikyuu Sickfic - KuroKen
Sickie-Kenma Caretaker-Kuroo What seemed like a normal Saturday one person wasn't a happy camper and that person was none other than Nekoma's Setter Kenma Kozume. The day had just begun Kenma woke up after having a weird feeling in his stomach but he shook it off until the inevitable happened, the feeling of something coming back up got worse that was when he knew "I'm going to be sick" he proceeds to walk to the bathroom and kneel in front of the toilet and just his luck a hot stream of stomach acid escape his throat "this day couldn't possibly get any worse" he thought to himself "KENMA" a voice yelled from downstairs, realisation washed over kenma he had completely forgotten his plans with his childhood best friend/boyfriend the Captain of Nekoma Kuroo Tetsuro as he planned on yelling out another wave of nausea hit him. -KUROO'S POV- I walked into kenma's expecting him to play games but that was until I heard a liquid? hitting something and kenma coughed, when I put the puzzle together I headed straight to the bathroom, when I walked into the bathroom I saw my lover heaving his guts up with tears streaming down his face `oh darling... it's okay take deep breaths` reassuring kenma while rubbing his back. -NO ONE'S POV- Once Kenma was finished kuroo carefully held him close he proceeded to place the sick boy down, kenma moaned at the sudden loss of warmth `hold on baby I'm getting medicine` 5 minutes later kuroo came back and sat on the bed near kenma while he helps kenma sit up, kenma took the medicine gagged a little `do you want to eat?` kenma shook his head `too tired... wanna sleep cuddle me` kenma opened his arms and rubbed his eyes while Kuroo snuggled up next to next thing he knew he was asleep. `Sleep well kitten` kuroo said while kissing kenma's forehead Kuroo and Kenma fell asleep and after two days kenma was back in good shape thanks to kuroo. Hey Guys! Volt here this by first-ever sickfic so its kinda rusty

Sick-fic headcanons
idk if this appropriate for this time but...
Kuroo X Kenma
- Kuroo is surprisingly whiny when he’s sick and absolutely despises getting sick.
- He’d be the type of person to ignore it until he has like a raging 103° F (39° C) fever and someone forces him to go home.
- “i promise i’m not sick it’s just a head ache”
- insists on working through a fever and Kenma has to be like “get into bed idiot”
- “if you wanted to get me into bed all you had to do was ask kitten”
- “I will let you die”
- Secretly enjoys getting parts of sick because he can get Kenma to dote on him.
- Kenma has gotten better at taking care of himself but still has a relatively weak immune system
- has headaches because he’s super busy and almost always looks at the screen
- wears a-lot of masks because he coughs a lot but has the added bonus of pretty good at hiding his identity
- when they first start dating he kinda has to fight Kuroo off and Kuroo eventually gets it and understands when it’s not that bad.
- But when it does get really bad Kuroo is the best at making him feel better
Bokuto x Akaashi
- Bokuto Has like one errant sniffle or cough and Akaashi is like “Bokuto-san, you are a professional and you have practice tomorrow you cannot afford to get sick. Wear your scarf, take my hat, are you going to take your thick jacket? here are some hand-warmers.” and Bokuto thinks this is adorable.
- This is because Boktuo doesn’t really get sick
- When he does get sick it’s annoying to others because he seems to get better over night.
- “It’s because of my great sleep regimen and great metabolism”
- “i’m too annoyed to tell you that’s not how it works Kou-chan”
- Whenever Bokuto gets really sick everyone panics and Akaashi is always this close to calling Urgent Care
- “Keji, i promise you don’t need to call the hospital”
-  Akaashi literally stops being able to function, sleeps for like twenty hours straight
- Bokuto is a very doting boyfriend he brings Akaashi soup and masked cheek kisses until Akaashi feels better.
- all Akaashi wants to do is cuddle until he feels better and bokuto is only too happy to oblige
- Usually takes a long time to get better but doesn’t get sick often either.
- Like with a cold it can take him weeks to stop coughing.
Iwaizumi x Oikawa
- another one of those “lol what, i’m not sick, its only allergies”
- “iwachan, you’re pale and wobbled as you got out of bed this morning”
- hates being sick
- Oikawa dosen’t really know how to take care of sick person so he just buys like eight types of medicine and a bunch of things he hopes will make a person feel better
-  Has to fight Oikawa off because the idiot is always insisting on kisses “ Oi, i don’t want you getting sick”
_ functions surprisingly well when sick
- Oikawa is the whiny, demanding sick person
- Iwaizumi grumbles the entire time taking care of him but obviously he loves the attention
- like many, he enjoys cuddles
- his voice gets more nasally than usual when he’s congested and Iwaizumi thinks its the funniest things in the world.
Daichi X Suga
- Suga does not like getting sick so he will legit do anything to avoid it.
- like you get sick and he’s like “nope get you and your pathogens the fuck away from me”
- “you’s sick, you’s on your own honey”
- eats a lot of oranges
- Daichi takes care of himself like a good person
- Daichi makes great chicken soup because his little siblings get sick all the time.
- They don’t really have cold medication in their house so when they have to go and buy some they always overbuy and it expires.
Also, Send Prompts and Ships i wanna see what my Haikyuu brain is made of

5. Mad | Kuroo Tetsurō
Disclaimer: All of the characters belongs to Haruichi Furudate, they’re not mine.
Warnings: description of vomit, phlegm and mucus.
Name: Mad.
I tried to do something different, so hope you like it💘.
“Stupid and damned goblet cells.”
Kuroo’s voice sounded frustrated, but at the same time it felt like he had been drowning on his own mucus and phlegms. However, he just stared at the ground and blew his nose after sneezing on a piece of toilet paper. It was the million time since he had woken up.
Kenma sighed.
“Kuroo, don’t blame your cells. It’s weird.”
The dark haired boy gave him an annoyed look from above with his toilet paper in hand, even if Kenma wasn’t actually looking at him. He wanted to say something about it, since he was being a dick just for woking him up early knowing that Kenma hated that. That wasn’t Kuroo’s fault either because they had planned this before but hey... Kenma was in bad mood and he was sick like a dog.
What a compelling combination.
Kuroo started blowing his nose again after hearing by the speakers of the airport that his flight was about to take off in ten minutes. It was like he has mucus forever, they won’t stop running from his nose even if he wanted to. And hell, he could bet that he looked like Rodolfo the reindeer.
He was very congested, like really. And that made him feel a headache too, he was sure about that.
“You sure you have to go visit your grandma today? You could have waited till next week.”
Kuroo putted the dirty toilet paper in his pocket and then looked at Kenma again with a bit of watery eyes, the typical of a cold. But this seemed quite different, Kenma thought.
“Her birthday is today, not tomorrow or next week. Don’t be so dick now Kenma, please.”
“You’re sick.”
“I’m not.” He lied, even if Kenma wouldn’t believe him. “It’s just a cold, when the mucus are gone... this is over.”
Kenma sighed again, still walking to the plane beside Kuroo.
“If your grandma dies from a cold I guess we’ll know who killer her.”
Kuroo rolled his eyes with annoyance.
“Ha ha, how funny.”
The sarcastic laugh didn’t last long, because Kuroo started to cough wetly on his elbow. Kenma just stared at him with disgust before they landed on the plane.
Why does Kuroo never admit things?
It was something Kenma never understood of him.
The setter knew for sure that Kuroo had something more than a simple cold and that he wasn’t totally fine. His bags under his watery eyes, the red nose and his blushing face revealed it, but the stupid decided to go and visit his grandmother anyways.
And there he was, accompanying the stupid in that stupid decision. Not that he really wanted to, but it was Kuroo, he owed It to him.
Kenma were stuck in bed a week before Kuroo started sneezing, and he was there for him all the time. He couldn’t let him all alone in this trip now that he was fine. That wouldn’t be fair.
BUT, Kenma didn’t went off his bed in all week and this was the third day that Kuroo was outside his own house. Responsability, he had said.
What a bullshit.
That wasn’t responsability, it was stupidity and stubbornness.
“Kenma, put on your headphones.” Said Kuroo, after a while sipping water from his bottle.
“Hm.”
“And put-cough your belt on.”
“Okay, mom.”
Kenma sounded more annonyed than he really was, because of his lack of sleep and the stubbornness of Kuroo. However, he putted on his headphones anyway to play a videogame on his phone while Kuroo just stared outside the window.
The flight would not last more than two hours, so they weren’t much worried about it. It was an express trip, not a big deal.
The problem was the coughing or sneezing of Kuroo. Because even if he was with headphones on, Kenma could hear the coughing fits that left his boyfriend breathless. He was quite worried, but when Kuroo sipped water and calmed down, Kenma thought that he would be fine the next hours.
That was until he heard a retch after a wet coughing fit. In that moment, Kenma took off his headphones and looked at the feverish and blushed captain of Nekoma.
“Kuroo, stop.” He said, with a serious look. “Drink some water or whatever, you’re distracting me”.
“Well, thanks for caring.” Kuroo responded, after another hard and wet coughing fit on his elbow.
Kenma hit him on the shoulder.
“Seriously, stop.”
“I can’t.” Kuroo’s voice was raspy and his eyes were more watery than before, Kenma just noticed. “I’m d-cough doing the best I can.”
At that moment, Kuroo showed the water bottle he was carrying and Kenma looked at him with disapproval. But at the same time, he tried to help by rubbing circles on his back.
“Kuroo, do you wan’t me to turn on the air conditioned? I think you need some air.”
Kuroo’s warm, Kenma thought. But he didn’t say anything about it.
“I’m fine.”
The dark haired boy wasn’t fine, actually he was feeling like shit. His nose was stuck with a lot of mucus and at the same time his throat burned like hell, and he could bet that he had a lot of phlegm too. That made him feel sick inside his throat.
“Kuroo, try to breath slowly. Not so fast.”
His head was pounding more than before and his chest felt heavy. However, the worst par of it were the coughing fits. Because he couldn’t stop even drinking water. And the movement made his lungs, nose, chest and throat hurt. His gag reflex was acting because of it too. Everything felt bad inside of him.
Maybe he should have heard Kenma, he thought. But now it was too late. He wouldn’t admit his defeat.
“Hey, you two okay there? Needing some help?”
The both of them turned to face the stewardess worried look. Instinctively, Kuroo nodded with his head, while he was still trying to catch his breath.
“It’s just-cough a cold, don’t worry.” He said, knowing that Kenma wouldn’t talk to that beautiful woman. “I’ll be-cough fine, thank you.”
“Ok, if you need anything just call me.”
“K’ay.”
The girl left them with a soft smile and Kuroo tried to breath slowly, while Kenma was starting to feel anxious. His boyfriend really looked like a dead body right there.
“Kenma, I’m-cough not dying.”
“I know.” He said. “Take deep breaths.”
Kuroo wanted to say something more or just stop coughing so Kenma could be calm. However, he couldn’t do it because his throat itched like hell and he started to cough again.
Kenma patted his back slowly and rubbed it too, with an anxious and a worried look. At the same time, Kuroo opened his legs urgently and bended with his face facing the ground when his gag reflex did a jump and he gagged hard.
Kenma almost freaked out.
“Kuroo, don’t you dare.”
The dark haired boy didn’t listen clearly to Kenma, he just coughed hard again and again between his legs. He couldn’t breath and every coughs ended with painful and wet gags. Now he could even feel something hot rising up his throat.
Oh no.
With extreme urgency he grabbed the first thing he had in sight, which was a lot of toilet paper from his pocket and putted it in his mouth right before retching a lot of phlegms on it. It was disgusting, but Kuroo should’ve sighed in relief if he could.
He really thought that would be vomit.
Kenma wrinkled his nose and stared at him with a worried look. At least he had stopped coughing, but now he was dry heaving. He didn’t know what to say now.
“Kuroo, drink some wat-”
“Kenma, could you pass me the-cough air vomit bag.” Kuroo coughed again and gagged on the piece of toilet paper, releasing a bit of saliva and phlegm.
“Why?”
Kuroo retched more phlegms on the toilet paper and Kenma passed him the bag anyway. He couldn’t deal with vomit and Kuroo knew that. Why was he doing this to him? It wasn’t fair. He told him he was fine, It was just a cold. He...
Kuroo felt something hot rising up his chest again and he inhaled hard before starting to cough hard again. He was losing this fight.
“Kuroo, please try to breath.” Kenma said, still patting on his back while the passengers were looking at him. That made him more anxious than before.
Kuroo just wanted all that cough and feeling of sickness to go away. He really felt sick as a dog, his ears were pounding after every coughing fit and he could feel his breakfast coming up even if he wasn’t nauseous. Maybe he had a fever too, he didn’t know.
Stupid goblet cells.
“Kuroo don’t-”
Even if Kenma wanted to stop it, Kuroo couldn’t. He retched without advice and a pale brown liquid poured from his throat, ending on the plastic bag with a sickening sound. He coughed hard at the end.
Then he tried to say something but more warm liquid poured out from his mouth and nose, making the feeling more hard for him. It hurted like hell and his ears were still pounding.
And Kenma, oh wait.
“I told you. I fucking told you.” Now Kenma was in totally panic but tried to stay calm since they were in a plane with more people. But he was mad. “Why don’t you ever listen to me? Don’t fucking push yourself to this point, your grandmother would have understood. You know that.”
Yes. He knew that.
Kuroo burped and coughed a bit more of his breakfast and phlegms inside the soiled plastic bag, before he was left dry heaving and gagging.
“Stupid Kuroo.”
He felt too gross to respond that. The phlegms were too disgusting and so was vomiting. But he has to admit that he felt a little bit relieved, because all that mucus and phlegms were gone in that disgusting bag. Now he could breath a little more.
“You disgusting and stubborn animal.”
The captain of Nekoma gagged again at the taste, but nothing came up. Just saliva and mucus. Then he spitted on it and wiped his nose with toilet paper. After that, when he felt sure to let the bag away, the girl from before took it for him with a sad smile.
Kuroo felt asshamed. But now he could breath and wasn’t coughing, even if his throat was hurting like hell it was better than cough every damn second. The headache was another thing.
Hell, he was really sick.
“Where did you put my water?” Kuroo asked, and Kenma passed it to him saying nothing. His face was a totally bad mood. “Don’t be mad, Kenma. Now I can breath. You should be happy for me.”
After saying that, Kuroo started drinking sips of his water bottle, so Kenma pressed the bottle hard so Kuroo would drown. The dark haired boy coughed again, but it wasn’t a coughing fit.
“You wanna kill me?!” Kuroo stared at him with shock.
“That’s for being a stubborn.” Kenma said. “And for scaring me.”
“Kenma...”
“And you smell like vomit, disgusting.”
Kuroo sighed.
“Kenma, you can’t be mad at me for throwing up. You’re the one who gave me this germ in first place.” He said, closing the bottle of water.
Kenma gave him a look of bad mood.
“I’m sorry, I should have listened to you. I know.” Kuroo took Kenma’s hand and sighed again. “I won’t worry you again, I promise.”
“Promise me you’ll rest when we arrive, because If you didn't know, you have a fever.”
Oh, that makes sense. How did Kenma knew that?
Kuroo sighed shakily, still with watery eyes and the blushed face because of the fever.
“I promise.” He said, still holding Kenma’s hand. “But don’t be mad at me. I felt relieved because now I can breath but I still don’t feel too good, you know.”
Kenma looked at his blushing face and sighed too, because the truth was that he was never really mad at him. Kenma was just worried because he loved him, more than anything.
And yes, Kuroo was a stubborn but was HIS stubborn. And he was going to take care of him.

73. “You don’t have to stay.” + kuroken?
73. “You don’t have to stay.”
Kuroo is barely visible under the pile of blankets. Only his hair pokes out the top, and even that looks limp and miserable. Kenma places the glass of water on the desk and settles onto the carpet floor.
“Kenma?” Kuroo sniffs, his voice muffled and barely coming out as a croak.
“Mm,” Kenma replies. He’s already pulling out his game, leaning his back against the side of Kuroo’s bed. “Get some rest. I’ll wake you up later to take more medicine.”
There’s some shuffling above the bed. Kuroo peeks out at him. His eyes are squinty and red and tired. He looks horrible, and Kenma has an urge to reach out and pat his head.
“You don’t have to stay, you know.”
“I know,” Kenma says. He puts down his game and threads his fingers through Kuroo’s messy hair, slightly damp with sweat. Kuroo’s eyes slip closed, face tilted towards Kenma.
“I’m going to get you sick.”
“It’s fine.”
“It’s not, Kenma—” Kuroo breaks off into a weak cough. Kenma watches his brow crease, his lips quirk into a childish pout. Kuroo only ever allowed himself to appear so vulnerable when it’s just the two of them.
Brushing his hand over Kuroo’s warm skin, Kenma shushes him. “Go to sleep, Kuro. Just focus on getting better soon, okay?”
Hazy hazel eyes blink up at him. Kuroo sighs. He gives him a small smile. “Does this mean you’re going to make me soup and everything?”
Kenma rolls his eyes. “Shut up, Kuro.”
“Okay, okay…” Kuroo coughs again, and then falls silent. It’s another few minutes before his breathing evens out, his expression loosening just a little. Only when he’s sure that Kuroo is asleep and well does Kenma turn back to his game.
He stays.

Thinking of post-timeskip Kuroo overworking and puking the moment he gets home, but doesn't have the energy to take care of it. He ends up phoning Kenma before passing out in his work suit. Kenma heads to Kuroo's house and cleans him up gently, while Kuroo groans and clings to him. "Stomach hurts..." he whimpers, shivering with a sickly pallor.
"You should have just come home." Kenma sighs, knowing Kuroo had probably spent the day taking care of other people's messes. And now he's become a mess of tears and drool.
But he can't really say anything harsh. Not when Kuroo is throwing up violently into the basin. "We're going to the hospital if this gets bad," is what he says instead. And they always do, when Kuroo gets sick. Because he pushes himself so much that his body lets everything go at once.
"Don't leave." Kuroo becomes needy when he's like this. He doesn't have the energy to put up a front. "Everything hurts bad..."
Kuroo rarely admits his pain. He once powered through an appendix inflammation and almost had it burst. Kenma knows the kind of dumbass he is. "Come on, let's get into the car."
"Don't wanna puke in your car."
"I borrowed a bunch of towels from your bathroom. It's fine." Kenma insists, predicting this outcome. He sits Kuroo down in the back seat, handing him a plastic bag and some water. Luckily, Kenma is a gentle driver.
Kuroo still does get sick, though. He ends up skipping reception and running into the bathrooms. Kenma has to awkwardly explain instead. Kuroo is too exhausted to apologize. He's brought to a room and rehydrated through an intravenous drip. He's finally asleep, peacefully. Kenma passes out beside him.

by just_a_hungry_author
When Kenma wakes up feeling sick, he’s more reserved and avoidant than usual at school and Kuroo picks up on it.
Kenma starts feeling worse as the day goes on, and though he’s too shy to go to the nurse, decides that he’ll tell Kuroo he isn’t feeling well if he asks.
Kuroo, however, isn’t talking to Kenma, trying to respect his need for space.
Oh what a disaster this will turn out to be.
