this is wholeheartedly inspired by sunnyian's post from a few days ago, so all inspiration goes straight to them <3

there are a few specific joints of mickey's that ian particularly enjoys, and mickey secretly enjoys it, too:

mickey likes to lie down on their bed with one leg bent and ian will cup his hand over his knee while they're both scrolling on their phones, just enjoying each other's presence

when they're both in the kitchen making breakfast, ian grabs mickey's neck and lightly caresses the hair at the nape of his neck and tells him, "good morning"

this is canon, but i just need to mention ian grabbing mickey's wrist when his hand is on his bicep while they're sleeping because, oh my god, it deserves to be talked about 24/7

and, as a little bonus reversal of roles if you will, when ian and mickey are both getting ready in the bathroom together, mickey will walk past ian and lightly squeeze his hips with his fingertips while he's brushing his teeth at their mirror

i haven't written for carl before, so i pulled this out of my ass... hopefully it ain't too terrible, LMAO. also, i have no idea if carl is drinking a beer, but he is now if he wasn't before!

"oh, yeah," kev remembers, "everyone should come to the alibi later, drinks are gonna be half off; it's a special thank you to our customers for their years of loyal alcoholism."

carl takes a swig of his beer. he raises the can, and pokes mickey in the back with the fist he has wrapped around it. "'ey, don't we have that thing there tonight?"

mickey's eyes widen in panic. "no, i think you're confused," his gaze darts between carl and kev who's hands are now up in defence, "that's, uh, tomorrow."

"shit, cool, so i ain't gotta be anywhere?"

"no—" mickey smooths out the crease above his eyebrow, "yes? fuck, i don't know man, just come."

"wait," kev chimes in, "it isn't until tomorrow?"

ian perks up, his right hand lifting up instinctively. "hold on, what's happening tomorrow?"

mickey ruffles carl's hair, whispering something inaudible in his ear as he crushes the now empty can of beer. mickey steps back, narrowing his eyebrows at the younger boy. "thought it was the 20th, must be all fucked up from daylight savings."

"daylight savings isn't for another four months."

"would you shut the fuck up, V?! all of you, actually, jesus christ."

Gallavich and mundane

i don't know why this one was so hard for me to answer, but ive thinking about it since it was sent, and the best i can come with are a few examples of daily mundane interactions, for lack of a better word, they have in their apartment, so hopefully that's good enough, AHHH, i'm so sorry

every morning, mickey sits on his phone at their island checking his texts while ian makes them pancakes

they often end their nights with the two of them on the couch watching reruns of some 80's game show, mickey's head on ian's shoulder while he aimlessly rubs his fingertips against mickey's ribs

mickey squeezes ian's hips on his way out of the shower and, if he's feeling lucky, sometimes he'll give the crook of his neck a peck, too

the two of them have created a chore system: ian does the dishes and takes care of the plants while mickey makes the bed and sweeps

speaking of dishes, ian always collects the plates/bowls after dinner and gives mickey's hair a quick ruffle just because he's allowed to

once ian falls asleep, mickey sneaks out of bed and puts his meds next to him on his nightstand for when he wakes up

i know these were more, like, soft and domestic, but, you know what, i hope you still like what i've come up with anyway, HAHA

i typed my entire answer out, but it deleted, so now i have to rewrite it. i love tumblr, but, god, it sucks sometimes.

i refuse to believe that 7x11 was the first time they stargazed. like, there had to be an instance before following mickey's, "you wanna spread out a blanket and look for shooting stars next?" comment where they tried, so this is a bit about that:

because of chicago's closeness to lake michigan, there are a surprising number of stargazing spots, but the most infamous in the city is northernly island near the shedd aquarium off south michigan avenue. so, sometime during s5 after ian's discharged from inpatient, mickey takes him down to the lake and they sit on the graze right on the lake front during a night where he can't sleep. eventually, the lie down, and ian can't help falling sleep in mickey's arms right next to the water, the white noise lulling him to rest.

mickey stays awake and just... watches ian, brushing his fingers through his hair. there were a lot of things mickey missed when ian was locked away, but one of the things he missed the most was being able to just... hold him because he wants to, because he's allowed to do that now.

Okay so I always hesitate to answer your calls for prompts and such only because I'd feel like a compete idiot if you'd already done it. But here's a combo prompt/mini self-fill since I see you're in need of Mickey x Tami sustenance.

Prompt if you feel so inclined: Mickey needs a haircut

Me avoiding my responsibilities and the 9 fics I'm in the middle of by writing more random shit:

"Fuck," Mickey mutters to himself in front of the bathroom mirror. He'd been trying to get his hair to stay put for like ten minutes, but the floppy bit at the top just refused to see reason. Even gelled to hell and back, it kept flipping down into his face as soon as he moved his head.

He grabs for the gel again anyway, determined to make it behave. As he gets another good handful of it, grimacing at the noise it makes exiting the tube, he's interrupted by a choked-off laugh coming from the open door.

"Fuck off, Gallagher," he yells, not looking.

"Not a Gallagher, Milkovich," comes back from the doorway, and he whips around to see Tami leaning against the wall and smirking at him.

"What are you lookin' at?" Mickey asks roughly, and she giggles.

Fucking giggles.

"What the fuck are you doing to your hair?" she asks in return. "You look like one of those 'self-styles gone wrong' posters we have up at the salon."

Mickey looks at Tami, and then looks back at himself in the mirror, and blows out a breath.

Well.

She ain't wrong.

He says as much, and she takes it as her cue to enter the bathroom, getting all up in his personal space.

"The fuck are you doin'?" he grouses, but she ignores him to tug at his hair with one hand, wrinkling her nose at the texture of all the product in it.

"I could help with this, you know," she offers suddenly. Mickey eyes her, suspicious, and she shrugs. "Perks of your brother-in-law dating a hairstylist."

Mickey scoffs. "No thank," he replied. "Don't need any favors from your baby-daddy."

That earns him a smack on the head.

"Hey," Tami says firmly. "I don't do things for him, I do things for me. And right now," she adds, scanning Mickey from head to toe and back, "what I want to do is make you look less pathetic."

She raises an eyebrow at him, and he capitulates surprisingly quickly in the face of her confidence.

"Yeah, all right," he mutters. She grins.

"Be right back, then," she tells him, backing away. "Just sit on the toilet there or something, I'll grab my bag."

"Hey," Mickey calls after her as she leaves, and she pokes her head around the door again with a curious look. "Ian likes it longer on top, think you can do that?"

Her resulting beam is blinding.

"He needs something to grab, huh?" she muses, and Mickey tries and fails not to flush. "Yeah, I can do that. Be right back."

Mickey stares at the open doorway once she's gone, wondering what the hell had just happened. Then he sits his ass down as instructed and waits for Tami to come save his hair and his sanity.

i am always in need of more tami and mickey sustenance. like, i'm convinced there is never too much, and this goes for everyone 👀

okay, but the perks of having a hairstylist in the family are greater than one may assume, and i'm glad mickey gets the experience the wonders of such. also, i can confirm "self-styles gone wrong" posters do exist and they are hung up in salons. granted, my mom's salon keeps it in the back and i'm pretty sure it's just for their own amusement... hey, whatever brings them joy!

anyway, this part was so in character:

i love that tami is apart of the gallagher family enough for her to be able to make shitty remarks about mickey and ian's sex life because, boy, have they all said way too much. even though tami says, "not a gallagher, milkovich," i feel like, deep down, she know she's apart of their family, though whether or not she wants to accept that is up for debate.

also, tami giggling at mickey, HAHA, i totally imagined that as her laughing at ian's, "i don't need your disgusting ass dick" comment.

SIDE NOTE: she's so cute with her little tank top and glass of orange juice <3 that's the love of my life, right there! thank you for the gif, too, kait; your TTIEE series is one of the best things that's happened to me on this app, and i wish that was dramatic...

i don't know where the fuck it went, but i made a similar comment about ian liking mickey's hair long in a prompt fill a few weeks (? maybe, i don't know) ago, so i'm glad we're on the same wavelength there.

if anyone knows what i'm referencing please link me because i could not for the life of me find it

regardless, this was an absolute treat to see in my inbox. you're a gem for taking the time to write this out for me <3 maybe i'll write my own take soon 😉

and i love you, anon! i had such a fun time putting this one together, and i hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed writing it <3 also, their child is michaela, and i don't know where the name came from it just sort of... came out the first time i needed a gallagher-milkovich OC, and i guess it stuck. i imagine her to be around two here and franny to be six or seven years old!

mickey feels a tug at the base of his jeans and looks down to see franny frantically pulling at the denim fabric. "uncle mickey?" she asks, her best puppy dog eyes on display, "can we see the monkeys?"

"no!" michaela chimes in, "i want giraffes!"

franny crosses her arms over her chest, "the giraffes are outside and we're inside," she reasons, still tugging relentlessly at mickey's pants.

ian sighs, looking up at his husband from behind michaela's stroller, "we'll get to both," he nods towards mickey, "we promise, right?" franny lets go of mickey and stomps her way towards ian.

"you're my favourite uncle," franny moves so her hands are clasped together underneath her chin, standing as high as she can on her tip-toes.

"bullshit!" mickey throws up a middle finger at ian.

franny grabs onto the stroller's handlebar for support, but ian quickly shoos her away. "only adults can touch the stroller, remember?" he says sternly, yet still with soft eyes as not to scare his cousin away. she pouts, though she gives in to his wishes.

"giraffes! giraffes! giraffes!" michaela chants, the two men rubbing their eyebrow creases while exhaling; this is way more stressful than they thought.

Who in the (Shameless) family pays for the Netflix subscription? What do you think everyone's favorite shows are?

I watch maybe two (2) shows on Netflix and one of them is Shameless, so I can't give too much input there, but I think Lip pays and Carl chips in when he has an extra few bucks from his paycheck. That being said, Debbie is totally one of those true crime bitches who live and breathe in documentaries. Sometimes, when she's downstairs watching them alone, Mickey'll join her as he finds that shit fascinating, too. Ian and Tami both strike me as religious watchers of The Great British Bake-Off, but that's about all I have, and anyone who wants to is free to chime in, of course, maybe someone who's more skilled at binge watching than I am and, therefore, has a larger pallet.

mickey didn't use all of their wedding money for himself. one of the items on their registry any of their guests failed to purchase was a coffee maker, and he surprised ian with it after their anniversary party. so, now, every morning ian wakes up early to make mickey a cup as thanks, but, on occasion, mickey will bring ian a cup in bed if he's had a rough evening or isn't feeling up for waking up at the ass crack of dawn to work a keurig.

also, i looked to make sure there wasn't a coffee maker visible on their wedding gift table and that they didn't have one in their apartment in 11x11 so, in the event that i missed one somewhere... no i didn't. okay? okay.

it's all good, i won't hold you accountable 😉 and i desperately wanted to continue this, but i thought i would stick to the number promised... perhaps i'll pick it up another day 👀 i have about a 100 ideas of where this conversation could lead; however, i think it's kind of fun (at least for now) to keep it up for interpretation 🥰

tami was reluctant to let mickey into her life, into fred's life—meeting someone on parole for attempted murder isn't exactly a sweet first impression—but watching him cradle fred in his arms like it's his calling overwhelms tami with a myriad of questions:

am i not a good enough mother?

what does mickey have that i don't?

is he a better parent than i am?

how is he so happy? i wish i was as happy as him. is it ian? i bet it's ian.

"fuck you say?" mickey teases, setting fred down in his bassinet and taking a seat next to tami on her bed. he lightly punches her shoulder, though she doesn't react.

tami didn't realise the said the last one aloud, but she decides now is good of a time as ever to ask it: "how are you so happy? you know, with ian? lip and i are always at each other's throats, it's like we never get a moment of peace."

mickey shrugs, "we love each other, man."

"but you guys fight, like, all of the time."

"so? don't you and cami get at it, and you still love her? it's because she's family; ian's family."

i haven't been able to come up with a name for their groupchat, but this is wonderful and i will be stealing it from you. seriously, i'm already changing their groupchat's name on social dummy to "gallagher-in-law support group" as we speak.

also, they definitely have this groupchat regardless of if debbie is with sandy or not, though i believe it started while they were together, 100%, they just became so close it was impossible for them to break up the ban against the gallagher's after their split.

honesty hour: unpopular shameless opinion? 😈

i really like karen, and i don't know how unpopular of an opinion this is on tumblr, but it's definitely not favoured on other platforms. i just think the potential she had was completely wasted by the writers, and i hate them for throwing away all she could've been. i fell in love with her in the pilot, and it makes me very disappointed to see how the writers treated her. i'm a firm believer that she deserved better and i will defend that statement until the day i die. i guess i wish we got to see her for all of the greatness i know she's more than capable of achieving if she was given the chance to do so. also, look how cute her smile is 😕 she is adorable
