I need to talk about Belle (2021) because it emotionally destroyed me. Spoilers abound.

I love that Suzu and Kei are kind of two sides of the same coin. They both lost their moms and are having to deal with their respective traumas. For Suzu, Belle is a means to an end. She’s a way to break back in to her real life. Her purpose for Belle is not to live a different life as an impossibly beautiful, popular singer. She doesn’t buy into any of the fame or adoration because it’s not about that for her. Belle was just a way for her to finally sing and fully live her real life again. For Kei, on the other hand, Ryu is fully an escape. It’s a way to be anywhere but his real life. It’s everything he wishes he could do in the real world to protect himself. Suzu is running from her past, and Kei is running from his present. Suzu has a circle of protectors in her real life (Shinobu, her dad, her mom’s choir friends), while Kei created his AI guardians for Ryu because he doesn’t have any in real life.

I love that they mirror each other, and that it’s because Suzu has experienced trauma that Belle’s able to empathize with Ryu. Her initial reaction to him is just curiosity. She just wants to know who and why. She doesn’t immediately assume he’s a monster like everyone else does because she knows what it’s like to be a news headline. She saw a bunch of strangers on the internet talk about her mom like she was a monster so she gets it. She knows it’s bullshit. She just wants the truth, wants to know why he’s bruised, why he’s in pain. And that connection was so powerful to me.

And then to have her run to save Kei and Tomo, and do exactly what her mom did in saving that kid, and for her to fully understand her mom’s choice in that moment. It absolutely destroyed me.

I like that they took the romance out of Beauty and the Beast, and made their connection a deeper one about empathy and trauma and recognizing people in pain. I love that by saving Ryu, she also healed her own inner child. I love that Shinobu and Hiro are just there being good supportive friends the entire time continuously reminding her that someone cares, and it isn’t until she’s ready to talk that they actually do. And I love that we still got a mini-romantic storyline with Kamishin and Ruka, and I love that Ruka wasn’t a mean popular girl.

I love so much about this movie. It was also visually stunning and the music was amazing. The whale imagery was so beautiful. The visual interpretation of the internet and the "U" metaverse was so cool. And the movie was funny!! I laughed out loud multiple times.

I could go on and on about this film. It truly killed me. It devastated me but also left me hopeful and heart-warmed and inspired. It’s ultimately about the power of empathy and love and human connection, and I think it’s one of my favorite animated films of all time.

“No way. APES.” As Ashido shakes her head, her earrings catch the pink neon light of the wall behind her. It looks like a little swarm of fireflies is caught in her hair. “Soooo much cooler. Our final exam was camping.”

“Oh, sick,” Jirou says.

“Well. Camping while digging up a lot of worms.” Ashido wrinkles her nose. Tomo must have been in the same class as her. In the few months after that exam, he remembers hearing a lot more about worms than a high school guy normally would put into a conversation. Maybe Tomo was doing it on purpose, to freak him out. It kinda worked on Tanaka. Tomo must've forgotten how many worms Eijirou moved back to the grass with his bare hands when they were kids.

On the lowest string of her guitar, Jirou plays a waaah waaah waaah sound. “See, Kirishima. It could be worse. You could be digging up worms right now.”

With his bare hands. “Nothing is worse than physics.”

In which Kirishima does no physics, works his way through all three floors of he and his friends' college house, and accidentally solves a problem that has nothing to do with the lab he has due tomorrow.

Not sure if this is something anyone would be interested in, but I was thinking of writing fanfiction collaboratively with someone, maybe where we just collaboratively write chapters together, maybe where we switch perspectives back and forth and each write a characters perspective, maybe where one of us mainly writes one fic and the other edits and then do that the opposite way on a separate fic.

A Couple Of My Hard No's

I don't write noncon or underage unless it's specifically addressing a character's trauma or abuse, and even then I prefer less show more tell. If you want to explore a character's trauma dealing with experiencing and healing from either of those, I'm ok with that, but I won't ever write it in a positive manner.

Permanent main character death unless already such in canon (I can write hurt/no comfort but at the end of the day they're my blorbos and I just need them to live)

Permanent amnesia trope (same deal as above, I need my blorbos to be happy or at the very least to have them at least remember each other even if they're in pain)

I think that sums it up. These are relatively generalized guidelines, my main goal here is honestly to work with someone else creating a collaborative work together. hi hi so i like many others have headcanons for next gen kids and i wanted to share my kamishin kid bc i LOVE him and have so many headcanons for him. he's very fleshed out so click that mf keep reading 😤😤🔥✨-> ->

so this all started with my quirk fusion idea — This boy is an instance of quirk singularity combining quirks to a dangerous degree. His quirk is that he can manipulate the electricy in someone else's brain— so essentially “fuck up your brain” The Quirk. this can range short circuiting other people to straight up, on the spot murdering someone with 0 fight at all. Just. Insta-kill. its very dangerous and since it’s sort of impossible for him to train without risk, he is essentially quirkless.

Its hard for him though, to live in this superpowered world where he’s powerless but also secretly incredible powerful? not many people know the truth about his quirk

this is one part anxiety but also a conscious decision on him and his dads’ parts. while prohero kids are out of the spotlight, kamishin is quirkless as far as the public knows, for his own protection bc of the fear that villains would try to take advantage of him/any negative attention he recieve

while all of this definitely gives him angst and issues, it helps that he has two really great and loving dads <3 (and pro hero aunts and uncles 🥺)

he takes after shinsou a lot with the quirk angst. he's feared turning villainous or hurting people and stuff 🥺. but it helps a lot to have a dad who Gets it and bc shinsou understands him he definitely has an easier time with his issues <3

the first time his quirk manifested was luckily on denki and everyone was very confused. like, is denki bceoming so talented he can short circuit without activating his powers? ehh... nope 🙃 the second time it happened was against his kindergarten teacher — he put her in a coma for like three days and thats when things got serious. i know this is effed up but im sorry that's like his whole deal :/ :/

The other more fun stuff!

deku is his favorite uncle :) between the relatability of growing up quirkless and the positive vibes he just loves him. also deku has brainstormed positive ways to use his quirk but its still too risky to try but kamishin appreciates ☺

he's also really close with eri! she's a very cool younger aunt and their quirk manifestation origins are kind of similar in the hurting people department so she's VERY protective of him. if theres anyone he could train with itd be her, but he doesn't want to risk it. and despite deku's encouragement, his quirk is dangerous

personality wise he takes after shinsou more, but not entirely! he’s definitely more energetic and spunky

oh he’s a bitch in the best of ways

he has Kaminaris pick up line tendencies but it fucking WORKS??? yeah he's a bastard and a flirt

childhood friends with the kiribaku kid but lately there’s definitely been something more between them??? sparks are flying 👀👀

being a hero's not really an option for him but he’s cool with that. he has a pretty deep seeded fear of his own power. i have to make a separate Krbk kid post but kiribakus son is also not interested! they kind of bond over it. they both love their dads but think they’re kind of lame lol

His favorite pro hero is dynamite ☺️ like it says in the pic this is one part to piss of his dads and the kiribaku kid lol but also he loves how headstrong bakugou is

Mha/Case closedVerse AU. Either everyone from the case closed universe gets a quirk or a ship of my choosing takes the place of shinichi and kaito cuz I am a kaishin shipper first, person second.

Now for the first idea, the CCverse getting quirks:

shinichi quirk is either, detection which let's him know if a person is good or bad, or shinichi quirk is holmes, the quirk allows shinichi to see a list beside a person giving him a basic summary of them, personality, likes and dislikes, name, gender, height, weight and so on. (Holmes cannot give names to people who are wearing masks or purposely obscuring their face and or eyes)

Ran's quirk, maybe minor strength boost? Idk much about ran to give her a quirk that would fit (as I'm actually not really a case closed fan but a magic kaito fan)

Sonoko is quirkless maybe? Or maybe a minor quirk like hoover (she can hoover like a couple inches off the ground)

Makoto's quirk is called iron body (think tetsu tetsu and kiriahima), this quirk allows makoto to harden his body into iron, which gives him a sturdier body, stronger punches and kicks.

Hattori quirk is called hindsight, hattori's quirk allows him to see his future for a few seconds or when he touches someone for five seconds, he can see the person's future/past for a minute. This helps with cases with cases (hindsight doesn't work for dead bodies)

Haibara is quirkless but did testing when in the black organization to give quirkless people quirks.

The detective boys, Idk what quirks to give them.

Kaito Kuroba (aka Kaitou Kid), kaito is quirkless

Aoko Nakamori quirk is summon, she can summon something from her pocket dimension to herself (she can only have three things in this pocket dimension though, a mop, phone and wallet usually)

Hakuba quirk is honing, this quirk is passive and basically gives hakuba tunnel vision if he really focuses on something which really helps on cases.

Akako quirk is curse, she can curse someone like a witch, curses can range from bad luck to a full on death curse (usually death curses and powerful curses take like actually life energy from Akako so she doesn't do them unless it absolutely necessary)

Well that's all i got for quirk ideas.

Now for the other idea! My ship of choosing is shinkami! Kaminari is kaito and shinsou is shinichi, that's it tho. They still go to UA and still train to be heros but the only difference is kaminari is phantom Thief: Raikou and shinsou is the great detective of saitama. Shinsou easily figures out denki is Raikou and immediately goes to confront him about it which snowballs into late night talks, helping with heists and falling in love.

Oh and midoriya is konosuke and makes kaminari his devices for heists, midoriya is also a vigilante known for helping Raikou, his vigilante name is Glitcher (as he usually the one to hack and such). Izuku is also not in 1-A as he choose to go into the support course to build things for his and denki night time activities. Well that's it. Enjoy whatever this mess it.

From left to right: Iida Tenri (Iichako kid) Kirishima Eimi (Kiribaku kid) Tetsutetsu Tetora (Tetsukendo kid) and Kaminari Kirari (Shinkami kid) 

Character dynamics will be under the cut!

Kirari, Tenri, and Eimi: These three girls have been close friends since they were little kids. With Kirari being one year older than Tenri and Eimi, she’s seen as the “big sister” of the group. Eimi is passionate and thinks with her heart while Tenri is logical and looks to facts for solutions, so Kirari tries her best to find the middle ground between the two. But because she can’t help herself, Kirari also tends to rope her besties into her troublesome pranks (especially aimed at her parents) Conversations between them last way too long and not a single hour of sleep will ever be slept at their sleepovers. 

Eimi and Tetora: Due to the brotherly connection between Kirishima and Testutetsu, Eimi and Tetora are basically cousins. Tetora is quite shy, so being around the boisterous Eimi can sometimes be overwhelming for him. Eimi tries to rope him into her obsessions of vampires and brooding anime characters, to which he will politely follow along, knowing he won’t have much of a choice anyways. Being the romantic she is, Eimi does everything in her power to be the best wingman possible for him. Despite Tetora’s inability to relate to Eimi, he is grateful to have her as his friend and wouldn’t change her for the world. 

Kirari and Tetora: Tetora knew about Kirari from his cousin’s close relationship with her, but he wasn’t formally introduced to her until they were put in the same class their first year of high school. Tetora’s quirk is “Iron Fist”, so his hands can harden into steel. He always gets comments on how he’d be a great fighter, but he’s actually quite passive, and wants nothing to do with fighting. When sharing off their quirks on the first day of class, Kirari told Tetora that his quirk would be “great for kneading the shit outta some dough.” It was the first non-fighting related comment he’d ever been told about his quirk. At this, he immediately fell in love. Kirari’s feeling for Tetora started off platonic, but overtime, she found his gentle nature to be reassuring, and she wanted to spend more and more time with him (though she’s still more subtle about her feelings than he is) Besides, she always found him to be kinda cute...

Eimi and Tenri: Though they’re usually in their classic trio, Eimi and Tenri have spent plenty of time with just the two of them. Being in the same class, they spend all their school time together. Most of that time is spent getting into heated debates over which select love triangle romance options are compatible for the heroine of whatever media obsession Eimi has to bring to the table. Since they tend to approach their outlooks from completely different sides, these debates hardly ever get solved without a third party opinion. However, Tenri often lends a hand to Eimi for emotional support. Whenever Eimi gets discouraged by an unsuccessful romantic endeavor, she always offers to take the place of her date, saying “you can do all those things with a friend too!” Because of this, Eimi can always depend on Tenri, and always goes to her first for anything.

After a decade and a half I have finally given these kiddies names.

Such a headache to come up with super simple names...but I came up with kanji for their names too so that took up most of my energy.

I know, like, next to nothing about the Japanese language so Im probably gonna fuck this up but Tenshi is 電使 and Denji is 電磁. Since they’re shinkami kids I thought it would be cute to use a character or two from Denki and Hitoshi’s names. They’ll all take Shinsou’s name because I thought Kaminari Denji is way to close to Denki...

So I was trying to see if I could imitate bnha’s art style for fun so here’s my little attempt.

dumping my belle thoughts here, gonna be all over the place

ok ok ok so belle? belle

honestly the beginning was pretty hard to follow. between the opening scene where she's already a u-user and the part where her mom dies and she joins u, it's hard to decipher when everything takes place. there's no like explicit "4 months ago" or timeskip to show the timeline so i was a bit confused for the first like 20 minutes

god, the lack of logic is only coming to me now. i was so caught up in the initial euphoria of finishing it and the "separating reality from the universe of the movie/show you just watched" stage. like realistically, how on earth would shinobu have known that suzu was belle? in the scene where she gets unveiled and everyone is in the old elementary school, he isn't seen wearing the u-headphones. he's just looking off of the screen. so from that, there's no way he could've really known, unless he has a pair and wasn't wearing that but that's unlikely. i don't even know if it was that useful for the plot? i don't know. i get it was interesting for the story but come on :/ also for some reason, i didn't really think it fit for kamishin and luka to be in the classroom, but that's just me

ok the animation? the regular anime-style animation was fine. subpar, definitely, but it didn't take away much. the 3d-style animation is where this movie really shines for me though. the scene where everyone sings together after belle is unveiled was so beautiful though. like all those lights (hearts?)? god, i got genuine chills. reminded me a lot of the lantern rite scene in genshin. but anyway, yes i loved the 3d-animation.

the music? best part, i'd argue. maybe. absolutely beautiful composition and choice of singing voice for suzu/belle. definitely will be adding a few of the main songs to my jpn playlist.

ok another part that iffed me was the various age gaps? for example, hiroka and mr terada (?), one of the choir ladies in high school and that 8th grade boy, and suzu and kei. now suzu is in high school, obviously. seems like a senior? judging by familiarity w kamishin, and he was revealed to be a senior. kei seems to be on the younger side, middle school or first year at most. it obviously wasn't explicitly revealed that suzu and kei got together at the end of the movie, but judging by the "i love you"'s said, you can infer from that. overall, age gaps iffy but eh, i can deal with it

what else what else

oh! tropes. ok so for the beginning half of the movie i really thought it was going to be one of those "unknown world beauty and the beast type of trope but it turns into childhood friends" trope but i was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't. am i upset? meh, not really. i wouldn't have minded suzu and shinobu together, is all.

for a while i really thought he was beast. i thought he had this whole emotional complex and dead mom, and he loved suzu but couldn't reveal it, that stuff. i'm probably wrong, but i think that the production team was initially like "oh let's make shinobu the beast" for the first half of the movie, but then thought that was too cliche so they made it the kid only seen in one or two scenes. completely out of left field

god it's really hard to get my thoughts down my mind is going a million miles a minute, i'm overstimulated, listening to music, really itchy, and there's a bug in my room

ok i do appreciate the touch on child abuse though. and the autistic representation with tomo but that is completely my opinion and most likely wrong.

ok i know it's only a movie, but i really wish they could've given us more. i want to know what happened after belle was unveiled. did suzu blow up on the internet? was she still able to use belle as her AS? what was the story with kei and tomo's mom? was tomo the small child suzu's mom rescued years ago? did suzu and kei get together? what happened to them after that? did they stay in contact? or did suzu and shinobu get together? did they just stay friends? what's the deal with shinobu?? does he have a dead parent? was he a u-user and just isn't seen in-world? so many questions, but no answers :(

i can say that i want a sequel, but i'm not sure if it would enhance it or take away from the special feelings of a stand-alone movie.

that sun image at the end that was so obviously taken in real life and not drawn/rendered. like i think that ruined the ending a lot. it's one image. not even animated or anything, just slapped on there. it would've been so much better if it was at least drawn/rendered out and not taken in real life.

hmm, what else. i am still very much overstimulated. listening to the soundtrack rn and it's nice

i think i might change my rating from a 4.5/5 to a 4.

it's very much like a barbie/disney movie in that you know it's not objectively the best movie ever. considering the animation, storyline, plot, logic, and everything. but it still brings about so much joy and happiness that you can't help but love it
