So... I've decided to share an unfinished project I started a few years ago out of boredom.

This is a deck of playing cards based off of my Star Wars AU story "Justice! Excellence! Defense! Intelligence! (J.E.D.I.)". It's mainly finished; the only cards that I haven't done are the kings, queens, and jacks of each suit.

Hopefully I can return to this project someday.

rev19 ocposting again! we have six fanunits, three 5☆ and three 6☆, and that's ideal for three banners. maybe that's the ideal way to present our OCs? i dunno, it's worth a shot.

K: 6☆ Intellect | Support, Debuff Inheritance: Sham Battle Buff: Calculation | Debuff: Broken Intervals | Ultimate: Stacked Deck

A hypersupport Counter unit that can apply the effect to the entire party. Deals in debuffs/buffs that drastically increase damage output, but has no damage-dealing abilities of its own.

Mixed, it/its, portrayed in the 1980s.

Iconoclast and rabble-rouser with a grudge against the Foundation and Manus. Cheerfully ruthless and absolutely not above blackmail (or worse), but has its soft spots here and there. (Vertin is one.)

Is gay, does crime. While it's very much a chessmaster archetype, it chooses to represent itself as a card shark instead -- a ruthless dealer against which no hands can be won.

Pinion: 5☆ Star | Support, Taunt, Heal Inheritance: Antipathy Attack->Counter: Angel of... | Heal: Saint, Denier | Ultimate: Icarian Vengeance

A hybrid healer and tank unit that deals decent damage and dishes out excellent single-target healing that deals a tiny bit of self-damage in the process. When entering Taunt, they're able to effectively spike their defense into the stratosphere by accumulating status effects.

Beyond, they/them, time of portrayal unknown.

Escaped biotech experiment that looks like if a marble statue could hate. Views kindness as dehumanization and wants to be seen as a person by making people hate them. Actually very articulate and intelligent, mostly uses this to creep people out.

They're doing the "body horror Icarus" thing on purpose -- they genuinely want to do good, they just also don't ever want to be thanked for it. Tends to gravitate towards people that are up-front about how creepy they come off to others.

Returning 5☆: Dikke

Thematically, she's here to round out the tertiary fire theming that both K and Pinion have on display, as well as having that similar throughline of nontraditional, "unacceptable" justice. She also has that teetering-on-the-edge-of-religious-theming vibe that characterizes the connection between Pinion and K here.

Mechanically, she would work as a decent healer/DPS hybrid for K to synergize with on the off chance someone's unable to pick up Pinion during the banner. (Also... I like her.)

I don't think she'd get along with either of them very well. Pinion might like her, but Pinion tends to like people that hate them, so that's going to end with someone getting stabbed. As for K... eh, most people are assets to it, she's probably not different. It'd respect her as much as it does most other people.

EARTH CHARACTERS Vice Admiral Juzo Okita (沖田十三) M61 Famed hero of the 2nd Battle over Mars. A stern, fearless stoic. Captain of the Yamato (UNS BBY-001) and formerly captain of the battleship Kirishima (UNS BBS-555). His battle strategies are nearly always high risk, high reward, and it miraculously always seems to work out perfectly.

Commander Mamoru Kodai (古代守) M27 Elder brother of Susumu and captain of UNS DDS-117 (JSS Yukikaze). His family was wiped out by an interplanetary bomb that struck the Miura Peninsula. Only he and his brother Susumu survived. He is shot down by the Gamilons while drawing their fire during Operation M so Okita could return home.

Commander-in-Chief Heikuro Todo (藤堂平九郎) M59 CinC of the Earth Defense Force. A calm, collected, reasonable man. Believes in the prioritization of morals over orders.

Admiral Kotetsu Serizawa (芹沢虎鉄) M55 Todo's right hand. A stern, angry, stubborn man. Harsh, immovable, but well intentioned. Reasonably disliked by the general public. Foil to Field Marshal Zöllick.

Lieutenant Commander Yuki Mori (森雪) F21 First mate aboard the Yamato, formerly a staff officer at EDF central command. Highly intelligent. A woman of great forethought and consideration. Kindhearted, consistently collected, fiercely believes in legitimate justice & the invalidity of sheer revenge, no matter how heinous the crime. Closely resembles the beautiful Sasha of Iscändar, who crashed on Mars.

Lieutenant Susumu Kodai (古代進) M19 Chief of the Tactical department. Hotheaded, righteous, brooding when upset. Mamoru's only surviving relative. Main protagonist of this story.

Lieutenant Daisuke Shima (島大介) M19 Friend and compatriot of Susumu. Yamato's Helmsman and Navigation department Chief. An expert navigator with an interest in astronomy. Calmer, more proper and more level-headed than Kodai. The exception being when Kodai is actually around, in which case Shima is even more rash and foolish than he.

Lieutenant JG Hajime Hirata (平田一) M21 An older fellow student at the Space Force academy when Kodai and Shima attended. A sort of "older brother" type friend to them.

Dr. Sakezo Sado (佐渡酒造) M54 A brilliant physician and a confidant of the Captain. Appointed as the ship's Medical department Chief despite no prior astronaval experience. A widely beloved drunkard. Cat person.

Makoto Harada (原田真琴) F21 Field medic, officially a civilian.

Analyzer (AU09-Q1309) X3 AI companion of Dr. Sado and improvised autonomous subframe of the Yamato after the original was destroyed. Prefers to be called "Analyzer", as opposed to AU09 or Q1309.

Lieutenant Shiro Sanada (真田志郎) M28 Science and Technologies department Chief. A highly analytical and intellectually gifted man. His mind was designed to create machines. Highly emotionally intelligent, though bad at reading and expressing emotions. The Wave-Motion Gun is his brainchild.

Lieutenant JG Saburo Kato (加藤三郎) M23 Captain of the Yamato's Air Corps. Damn well coulda been born and raised in a cockpit, for the way he flies. Righteous, a little bit of a control freak. Close with Yamamoto.

Lieutenant JG Yasuo "Dash" Nanbu (南部"DASH"康雄) M20 Chief of Gunnery subdepartment of Tactial. Very much envies Kodai's position. About twice as hotheaded as Kodai, and 10 times as pigheaded. Excellent, loyal soldier, even if he disagrees with is commanding officers.

Ensign Yoshikazu Aihara (相原義一) M21 Operations department Chief and Comms officer. Reports to XO Mori. Sort of on-edge a lot of the time. Often overshadowed by those around him.

Ensign Kenjiro Ohta (太田健二郎) M24 Radar officer and Chief of the Space Weather Prediction subdepartment under Navigation. Eager and enthusiastically helpful. Bit of a mild Osaka hillbilly stereotype.

SP3 Haruki Ando (安藤春樹) M18 Wave-Motion Ballast & Shield technician. Brilliant kid, rushed through school with the goal of helping the cause against the Gamilons. Did not intend to be a soldier, merely a scientist, but is overjoyed nonetheless. Follows Kodai around like a duckling.

Kaoru Shintani (新谷かおる) M43 Chief OMCS technician. AKA, shipboard cook.

Lieutenant Commander Hikozaemon Tokugawa (徳川彦左衛門) M62 Chief engineer. Like Sado and Okita, quite brilliant, though quite odd. Former Chief engineer of the Kirishima. Very warm & paternal to all, considered the nice grandpa of the crew.

PO1 Sukeji Yabu (藪助治) M31 Tokugawa's favorite student. Cautious, introverted, kinda weird. Extremely intelligent. Refers to Starsha of Iscändar as a goddess.

Lieutenant JG Sho Yamazaki (山崎奨) M45 Tokugawa's official right hand.

Ensign Akira Yamamoto (山本明) F20 Another prodigy seemingly born to fly. Similarly to Kodai, she and her elder brother Akio were the only survivors of the early planet bombings by the Gamilons. ALSO similarly to Kodai, said elder brother died in Operation M. She and Kodai seem to keep ending up in bleak situations and having to save each other.

Ensign Hiroki Shinohara (篠原弘樹) M24 Deputy Captain of the ship's Air Corps. Quite unserious and smug in general. Very mature and insightful when the time calls for it. Never angry, and excellent mediator.

Lieutenant Akira Nemoto (根本明) M31 Captain of the Yamato's Marine Corps. Cold, quiet. Foolhardy, but a quick learner. Eager to kill Gamilons.

Corporal Kazuhiko Sugiyama (杉山和彦) M18 Deputy Captain of the ship's space Marines. Smug asshole most of the time, but humbles up quick when he deems it necessary. Doesn't like to take things too far. An EXCELLENT shot.

MCPO Isami Enomoto (榎本勇) M36 Boatswain's Mate. Kodai, Shima, and Hirata's former Practical Skills instructor. Simultaneously bubbly and friendly & strict and unforgiving.

PO3 Shinpei Iwata (岩田新平) and SP1 Kiyoshi Toyama (遠山清) M27 and M26 3rd deck operators. Inseparable. Idiots. Simultaneously fully competent and woefully incompetent. Often subjected to Enomoto's wrath.

WO2 Yuria Misaki (岬百合亜) F19 Member of the Supply department and self-proclaimed ESP haver.

WO2 Shigeru Hayashi (林繁) M18 Member of the Navigation department, plagued by visions (suffering from nightmares).

Lieutenant Kaoru Niimi (新見薫) F37 Chief of the Security department. Friend of Serizawa.

Lieutenant JG Shinya Itou (伊東真也) M21 Chief of the Armed Security department. Eerily friendly. Unnervingly polite. Gives of bad vibes.

Mission Briefing:

Task Force 141, codename "Bravo", has been deployed to undertake Operation Midnight Vengeance. Our target is an enemy general, known for his role in orchestrating terrorist attacks and trafficking illicit weapons. Intelligence suggests that he is currently holed up in a heavily guarded compound in the remote mountains of Eastern Europe.

The team will be inserted stealthily via helicopter near a pre-designated location overlooking the target's compound. Ghost will lead the recon, using his unmatched expertise to gather intel on the enemy's defenses, patrol patterns, and potential VIP hostages. Female Agent Y/N will provide support to Ghost as an intelligence analyst, utilizing their advanced electronic surveillance skills.

Once the team's information is compiled, Soap will lead the assault team, accompanied by Gaz and Price. Their objective will be to infiltrate the compound silently and eliminate any resistance encountered, securing the target with lethal precision. maia of manwë and the strategist of valinor's army/valinor politics in general ( serving primarily ilmarin ). he is a maia of ice aura that allows him to create projections and manifestations of a light blue tint. these manifestations are cold to the touch and do have the ability to freeze should he deem

long, light blue hair and sapphire blue eyes. he's tall, around 8'3" and of pale complexion.

he is cunning and criminally intelligent. one might not expect him to be the observant type because of his arrogant and bold attitude. he's rather sarcastic and might come off as standoffish if caught on the wrong day due to him having a bit of a temper. honestly a little shit because he always loves to playfully taunt and get on people's nerves. he is very confident in his abilities and thus a risk taker

has a very strong sense of justice and grows outraged by what he sees as injustices. so much so that he has a more vengeful outlook on things. he wishes for those who did evil to pay tenfold for the pain that they have caused

as a strategist he ensures that the armies are keeping to the plan whilst also acting as a support on the battlefield. he is centered around defense and thus also protects whoever he can on the battlefield

excellent at picking up on fighting styles and thus adapting his own defensive fighting style to counter them

he had a lover in the early days but unfortunately lost them to corruption, which ended in something tragic. which is what kicked off his more vengeful attitude. watched the same happen to others he was close to and it just made things worse

slowly developed a hatred and vendetta against melkor that grew worse, spiralling him further into his madness of . it's almost poetic, considering melkor had attempted to tempt him over to his side upon identifying those venemous emotions within him, and while lúilírë denied him, it is ultimately his vengeful feelings towards melkor and evil in general that leads him into a way of thinking that is not righteous

the loss of his ex lover to evil still plagues his mind. they are the one person that he cannot bring himself to hurt, even during the war

Navëquen means he who/person who judges in Quenya

Appearance-wise, his accustomed fána is humanoid and tall (8’3’’/~2.52m) with long black hair that he pretty much always braids, dark eyes with a slight emerald hue and a pale complexion

For animal fánar, he prefers corvids, mostly ravens, crows and magpies

Navëquen is a Maia of Námo and focuses mostly on the justice side of things. He serves as a prosecutor and later Námo's personal attendant as well, taking care of him whenever he's experiencing his future visions

Unlike his lord and his counterpart Vanimóre however, Navëquen doesn't possess any future sight. Other Maiar of Mandos sometimes say he's "blind to the future"

While Vanimóre's right eye sees the future, Navëquen's left eye sees the past, in particular past evil deeds

Aside from this, he also learned spirit magic and sword fighting from Námo, including his patient, defensive and precise style

Navëquen is very intelligent and observant and has an excellent memory, even by Ainur standards

He has a strong sense of justice and does his best to achieve it via the law, though at times he gets frustrated by its shortcomings. Additionally, he doesn't like making exceptions

Navëquen mostly appears to be calm and collected, even seeming cold and aloof to others; this is due to him trying to follow Námo's example and practice neutrality

Deep down, he does have strong opinions on many things, but won't voice them unless prompted. His statements may at times come off as odd or cold because of his tendency to approach matters from the pragmatic perspective of the law, sometimes also with a hint of cynicism

Navëquen isn't very good at recognizing and expressing emotions. His coping mechanism is his journal, in which he writes down his thoughts, feelings, observations, and he likes to draw as well

It takes him a while to warm up to people, but once he does, he can be quite sweet, caring and protective and grows very attached to them. His trust is not easily earned

Vanimóre is - or was, after his fall - his closest friend and Navëquen continues to have strong feelings for him. Yes, they're essentially soulmates <3

Because of this, he agreed to go to Middle-earth and attempt to save Vanimóre when Námo asked him to, but unfortunately ended up being captured and held in Angband for a while

Navëquen also has a bit of a crush on Námo, which is one of the reasons he's very loyal to him; the other main reason being that serving his lord gives him a sense of purpose and belonging

Now for a bit of fun trivia~

Navëquen is ambidextrous, which he uses to complete several tasks at once. When he has a lot of work to do, he may temporarily grow additional arms

He likes to braid ribbons, charms and other fun accessories into his hair

Those close to him call him Navë for short. Vanimóre also likes to call him Quenquen or Creeps

Over the ages, he has already filled several journals and sketch books

As some of you may have noticed, Navëquen has a bit of a type (pretty, dark-haired men). If you are one or can at least assume such a form, you have his attention

Sasha is an eighteen year old exchange student hailing from Moscow, Russia. She is the President of the Student Council as well as the heiress to Ivanov Corp, the most powerful business in Russia. She is impossibly wealthy, a certified genius, has extensive self-defense training, has excelled at everything she has ever attempted to do in her life, and has been trained to possess all of the qualities of a perfect leader in order to prepare herself for the day when she will inherit her father's business. She is also the most beautiful girl in school AND the most popular girl in school.

Sasha has been absent from school for twelve weeks under mysterious circumstances that she refuses to disclose to anyone. Unlike the rest of the rivals, she is fully aware of the fact that there is a dangerous person on school grounds. Once she arrives at school, she will do absolutely everything in her power to protect the school population such as doing background checks on every student's mental health, installing security cameras, hiring security guards, and even instating a zero-tolerance policy for any suspicious behavior.

Lots of guys have developed crushes on her while the girls admire her to no end. Beautiful…intelligent…brave…graceful… It's not hard to see why she is admired throughout Edinburgh Secondary School. Trump admits guilt. ::  September 1, 2022

         It is becoming increasingly likely that Donald Trump will be indicted for espionage and obstruction of justice—largely because Trump continues to incriminate himself on his vanity media platform. Former Fox “news” commentator Judge Andrew Napolitano made that point in an op-ed in the Washington Times—which is traditionally a Trump-friendly source. (Don’t confuse the Washington Times with the Washington Post.) Napolitano wrote the following:

It gives me no joy to write this piece.

Even a cursory review of the redacted version of the [FBI] affidavit . . .  reveals that he will soon be indicted by a federal grand jury for three crimes.

[By] misreading and underestimating the feds, Mr. Trump actually did them a favor. One of the elements that they must prove for any of the three crimes is that Mr. Trump knew that he had the documents. The favor he did was admit to that when he boasted that they were no longer classified.

         Trump repeated that self-incriminating “favor” by complaining about the photo of documents seized at Mar-a-Lago, which were photographed on the carpeted floor in the room where they were seized. Trump whined that the FBI “took them out of cartons and spread them around on the carpet.” The statement admitted that he was aware that top secret documents remained at Mar-a-Lago “in cartons” after his lawyers certified that all such documents had been returned to the National Archives.

         Before turning to legal developments, it is helpful to put Trump’s “de-classification” defense in perspective. Trump’s constitutional obligation as president was to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed” (Art 2, Sec. 3) and to “faithfully execute the Office of President,” (Art 2, Sec. 1). Thus, Trump’s obligation as president was to act in the interest of the United States in all things. The Constitution says so.

         In deciding whether to declassify documents, Trump’s obligation to “faithfully execute” the laws regarding classification required him to provide notice to and seek input from the relevant intelligence agencies (to protect the national security of the U.S.). Trump did not have the power to declassify documents on a whim. Nor could he do so out of prurient interest or to protect himself from criminal prosecution or to make it easier for him to read the documents in the residential quarters of the White House.

         Trump’s claim that he declassified documents simply because he felt like doing so is a damnable lie. But if he recklessly declassified documents, Trump was not acting as a president “taking care to faithfully execute the laws,” but as a rogue actor violating the spirit and the letter of the law to advance his personal interests. That is no defense to the three crimes being investigated by the DOJ. Indeed, his invocation of de-classification superpowers only proves his awareness of guilt and intent to violate the law.  

The DOJ’s response to Trump’s request for appointment of a special master.

         With the benefit of 24 hours to analyze the DOJ’s response to Trump’s request to appoint a special master, it is clear that Trump’s motion was a blunder of the highest order. For an excellent and detailed analysis of why that is so, I highly recommend Joyce Vance’s discussion on her Substack blog, Civil Discourse, “Trump in Trouble. As Vance explains, the DOJ lawyers are “glad Trump gave them the opportunity to set the record straight.”

         Vance notes that the DOJ raised a serious obstacle to Trump’s request for relief: lack of standing:

         [The] DOJ says Trump doesn’t have legal standing to ask the court to act because the documents aren’t his in the first place; they are presidential records that belong to the United States. “Because these records do not belong to Plaintiff, Rule 41(g) gives him no right to have them returned.”

         And most damning, the DOJ response asserted that Trump actively concealed defense secrets after his lawyer certified that all such documents had been returned. Vance highlights the following statement in the DOJ’s response:

“The government also developed evidence that government records were likely concealed and removed from the Storage Room and that efforts were likely taken to obstruct the government’s investigation.”

         Finally, Vance notes that the location of Trump’s passports in the same desk drawer that contained classified material “rather neatly link[s] the former president to that material.”

         Trump is in trouble, indeed. Republicans are scrambling for talking points to defend Trump—but he keeps undermining their defenses. Some of Trump’s most ardent defenders suggested that the FBI planted the documents in the photo filed with its response. But Trump disproved that defense by asserting on his vanity media platform that he kept the stolen defense documents neatly packed in cartons!          What does this mean for Democrats? First, it provides a reasonable basis to believe that the DOJ will indict Trump. Andrew Napolitano believes an indictment is inevitable, and he is one of Trump’s most loyal supporters. Holding Trump accountable for any of his crimes will be a victory for the rule of law.

         Second, it will keep Trump and the GOP off-balance during the run-up to the midterms—which can only be good for Democratic prospects.

         Third, it may force a weakened Trump to declare for the presidency as a possible defense to conviction (via self-pardon). If that occurs, it will either clear the field of wannabe GOP contenders leaving a weakened Trump as the presumptive nominee, or flood the field with contenders who believe they can take down a weakened Trump. From a purely partisan standpoint, that can only be good for Democrats.

         Trump’s potential indictment on espionage and obstruction of justice is a self-inflicted injury of monumental proportions. And if Trump’s public defense to this point is any indication, he will only make it worse for himself and his defenders as he desperately grasps for a defense that does not exist. As Dahlia Lithwick asks in Slate, Have the facts finally caught up to Donald Trump? In a memorable turn of phrase, Lithwick writes,

         We’ve become so accustomed to the great greased watermelon that is the former president it’s impossible to imagine that, after escaping the clutches of the Mueller probe, two impeachment efforts, and a hailstorm of prosecutions in New York, he might finally be good and caught.

         Trump is in trouble, indeed—and his inability to shut up is making life worse for himself and the GOP.

"The Senator Blooms as a Lotus in a Pond"

For good reason, Senator Patrice Amaretti is often compared to a lotus flower; specifically, Nelumbo nucifera. It is said that the lotus grows in murky and impure waters, and when it grows above the water, it blooms very bright, clean, and pristine. Likewise, although surrounded by the corruption of the bureaucrats, Senator Amaretti also manages to rise and bloom above it all. So whenever Anatole Spacewalker sees a lotus, he thinks of his dear "Patty Cakes", as he calls her. Sadly, the lotus is also known for a notoriously short lifespan--the blooming period is only around 3-4 days. Once its seed pod grows enough, it loses its bright pink petals, but it drops the seeds into the water, ready to start the cycle anew; it's as a mother that never gets to see her children grow, but they carry on her legacy nonetheless. Though Patty blooms like a lotus above the murky waters of Senate corruption, let's hope she is not meant to suffer the same floral fate.

time to have hairbrained thoughts on “better call saul�� time

ok so here’s my giant brain take but seriously, and i think it’s honestly the intent of the show as well, but jimmy isn’t actually that good a conman. like in that he isn’t actually very slick or particularly smart, because if he were actually taking the premise of his becoming “a lawyer guilty people hire” he’d do way better. and i think we’re meant to see that in kim’s parallel path to success and professional fulfillment. i see her story as one of pragmatic self actualization. (currently at s5e3) she’s developed the ability to prioritize and not overwork herself without giving up on her dedication. her car crash in part made her realize that what she thought she was - and excellent dedicated intelligent lawyer - wasn’t true. she had run herself ragged working too fast and too hard on a project she wasn’t that actually invested in, she could’ve died over banking law, like how tragic would that be if her epic talent and life ended over something so small? so she woke up.

she goes to a firm, creates a department she can delegate to, stops being their superhero lawyer magician and becomes a real heroic defense lawyer. i think it’s very intentional we’re never presented with kim defending straight up wrongfully accused had literally nothing to do with it innocent people, but she’s defending people who need help navigating a justice system that wants to reduce them to the one mistake they made. these are real people who don’t need to be deemed guilty, and who definitely do not deserve prison.

i mean actually no one deserves prison because prison doesn’t actually do anything good and is literally the last legal form of enslavement in the united states of america.

but you know in the context of the real world these people are in, jail is real and it is a super fucked up place to go especially if you’re not prepared for that environment. which is, honestly, most people who go to jail.

but literally yes, “guilty” people are the people who need lawyers the actual most. cops have doubled down on emphasizing the idea that having a lawyer makes you look guilty. it doesn’t. it’s the only way to interact with the legal system, which so much more complex than any random person could reasonably know that people get degrees in the law. people spend years specializing in different types of legal practices because that is how complicated the law is.

you should never talk to cops without a lawyer because they understand the complexities of your situation far more than you do and it would be an inherent disadvantage to say anything to them without proper understanding of the legal situation. that’s not guilt, that’s not disrespect, it’s practical.

so, yeah i feel confident saying that jimmy did earnestly stop trying, or really never felt like trying that hard to be a lawyer all the way. he wanted excitement, that’s part of his deepest character flaw, he wants to be on the edge, likes the adrenaline rush, and will actively sabotage banal things because he can’t stand to be bored or, for that matter, boring.

honestly jimmy messing up his cell phone job was one of the last dominoes in my opinion that he knocked over himself. as usual it was a combination of active decision making and all his past experiences that made him start selling as saul goodman. like, i feel confident and not boots-strappy in saying as much as that cell phone store job would’ve been boring or sucked, there are way worse things out there than having to sit and be bored all day. a lot of jobs are bullshit jobs like that where you just sit in a room and do nothing much and that’s kind of your job, that’s like 90% of basic administration work. they just need a cog there to make the whole machine run, and it sucks and i hate it but also have you worked the night shift at a mcdonald’s? talk about hell on earth. and absolute dog shit pay.

but jimmy couldn’t handle it. i thought for a moment that the montage of him waiting around had represented maybe a couple weeks at each attempt, first trying to really just figure out the boring cell store job, and then waiting for cooks to come by “privacy” phones but we learn later it was less than one full week and i’m just like jimmy i will gladly take your job for you and i too have adhd and would fight for my life out of boredom but oh my god in what world is it a good idea to leave a yuppy boring job to sell phones on the street to low level drug dealers?

and that’s just what i love about this show honestly, it is all about mercurial morality and justification and self deluding behavior. chuck was technically a “better” person than jimmy

like, let’s just be real that for as horrible and cruel and fucked up that chuck is and was, jimmy had already done a lot of pretty screwed up shit, and continued to do seriously screwed up shit, and actively hurt multiple people, jimmy, in the eyes of the world, would be the “worse” person

but by fucking god do i hate chuck because i saw everything he did to jimmy and what it did to him and how much pain he intentionally caused and jimmy just can’t see his own harm in the way that we see chuck’s. so we understand jimmy better and we feel toward chuck some of what jimmy feels. and it becomes easier to forgive jimmy’s flaws.

so yeah, if jimmy were smart, if he had made better choices, he could have done really well. kim did, and she’s no perfect moral paragon either and doesn’t pretend to be. guilty people do need lawyers, because most people involved in the law are guilty of something. otherwise they wouldn’t be there.

but guilt has nothing to do with it.

because guilt is just what the system calls it, and guilt has nothing to do with actual morality. people are not good or bad, they make choices, they have histories, they get hurt, they fuck up. and so we can’t use such a simple metric when it actually comes to people and helping people and stopping the kind of shit happening in this show.

The citizens, mainly Delta Minus, Gammas, Betas, and Omegas, have limited freedoms, such as speech, press, religion, education, association, information, petition, protest, thought, reproductive rights, movement, suffrage, internet access, and privacy. Suspended DCP Abba Kyari, on Wednesday, July 20, approached the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to grant him bail following the July 5th&nbsp;attack on Kuje custodial center by Boko Haram terrorists who freed scores of their members. Reports has it that Kyari and other officers of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT), through their counsel, told Justice Emeka Nwite that their lives are in danger in the custodial facility. Moving the motion for bail, their counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, who appeared for 1st (Kyari), 4th and 5th defendants, said granting his clients bail was a necessity because their lives are no longer safe where they are currently detained. He said the officers who had performed excellently well in their profession by apprehending dangerous and high-profile criminals, most of who are in the same prison with them, should not be kept in the facility. Ikpeazu urged the court to admit them to bail on liberal terms. Also, Gboyega Oyewole, counsel for the 2nd defendant, spoke in the same vein. However counsel to&nbsp;the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Sunday Joseph, disagreed with the defence counsel. He urged the court to dismiss the bail application. Justice Nwite adjourned the matter until Aug. 30 for a ruling. Earlier in the trial, NDLEA’s lawyer, Joseph, tendered the sum of 61, 400 dollars allegedly used by suspended DCP Abba Kyari to bribe the agency’s officer in the drug trafficking suit preferred against him and four other police officers. Joseph tendered the cash in the open court before the judge when the third prosecution witness, Peter Joshua, was being led in evidence in the trial of the suspended IRT members. At the resumed trial, Joshua, who works at the NDLEA, FCT Command as an Exhibit Officer, testified against Kyari and his men. Justice Nwite admitted the cash in evidence as Exhibit 11 after the defense counsel did not oppose to the application.

Justice, Excellence, Defense, Intelligence (J.E.D.I.) Finale a.k.a. the SW Prequel Happy Ending AU

Since I see some people are interested, I’ll share what I’ve got. I’m working on the fanfic, but it’s stuck in the prologue.

First of all, I’ll have you know that this is a real world AU with several key differences. Most of the alien characters are human (except the Wookiees, who are Bigfeet in this version), everyone has more realistic-sounding names, and Palpatine is female in this version. Here’s a guide to the main cast:

There’s a ton of other characters but I won’t list them here; some will probably be in the description. It’s also a pretty lengthy idea; I don’t really know how to condense it anymore than what I’ve written here without just writing the whole fanfic already.

The plot of this AU begins in Spring 2057, with Alexis in Hungary with Jetpack Bo, planning their mission to capture the Mauling Mauler and free Satinka (Satine) from prison (she’s alive in this AU). The first half of this story is pretty much the same as ROTS with the added context of the Siege of Mandalore, and goes up to the Sunset Scene™/Ahsoka and Rex on the bridge of the star destroyer before Order 66 happens. There are some added elements, however, in the first half:

Alexis, Anatole, Obadiah, and Patrice all happen to have dreams that seem to symbolize either the good or bad ending of the narrative. The strangest of these is Patrice, since she’s the only one of the main four who isn’t Force-sensitive (or so we think; spoilers under the cut), and she shares dreams with Anatole.

Minor characters such as Bail Organic and Moira Morgan have actually seen the SW Prequels and TCW, and are aware that the events are unfolding like the movies. Unfortunately, they have no idea how to stop it. However, one character does succeed in changing the narrative, and it’s Sheila Ti (Shaak Ti).

It’s at the Sunset Scene where the story changes completely. Actually, a bit before that; Sidonia reveals that she is the “Insidious One” to Anatole, and also reveals that she’s known about his marriage to Patrice. Anatole gets furious and wants to kill Sidonia, but doesn’t as she tells him “Isn’t killing against the J.E.D.I. way?”, to which he replies, “How would you know anything about the J.E.D.I. way if you’re a S.I.T.H. Lady?”, and decides to turn her over to Mace.

Sheila Ti is watching the ROTS Sunset Scene on her laptop, when she senses a disaster about to happen. She goes up to the seemingly vacant Council Room and finds Anatole on his iPhone. She asks him if he misses Alexis and Obadiah, and he replies that he has forgotten about them until she mentioned them. Sheila discusses with Anatole that it’s not good to be sad or afraid, and cites them as the reason that Darth Vader fell in Star Wars (Anatole has never seen the prequels, only the originals). Anatole also mentions that he cut off his toxic friendship with Sidonia. After their conversation, Sheila advises Anatole to leave the Council room and go either supervise some younglings or see some friends and get dinner with them; she’ll cover for him for when Mace returns. Anatole heeds Sheila’s advice and leaves to buy takeout for Patrice, spending the rest of the night with his beloved wife. Meanwhile, Mace and his J.E.D.I. backup assassinate Sidonia, but it appears all too easy. Alexis captures the Mauling Mauler, and she and Regis are on a one-way flight back to NYC after bidding farewell to Jetpack Bo.

Now here’s where it gets interesting. Sidonia has been assassinated, but her spirit goes on to make one final attempt to turn Anatole to the Dark Side--by possessing Patrice and threatening to kill her if he doesn’t turn. Anatole sees right through Sidonia’s scheme--she was going to kill Patrice all along for being a roadblock to world domination. Anatole brings Patrice before Mace and Yo Fu to help expel the Insidious One. At the same time, all the J.E.D.I. have returned with their troops since the war is over. Sheila comes to tell Alexis of the terrible tragedy involving Patrice, and rushes to Patrice’s aid at the Academy. Surprisingly, Alexis is strong enough to expel the Insidious One due to her strong light power, but senses an energy in Patrice’s belly assisting her.

Defeated, Sidonia’s spirit influences her Personal Guard Troops to take her body from it’s autopsy room and fly it to Mount Agung, where she zaps the life force of the remaining Separatist leaders to revive herself. And it’s here that she also commands her troops to Execute Order 150: the Final Contingency Order that states that in the event of the Supreme Chancellor’s death, a Giant Mecha shall be deployed over NYC to enforce order.

Meanwhile in New York, everyone lives life as normal. Alexis gets adopted by Anatole and Patrice and is told that she is to become a big sister. Also, Satinka gets married to Obadiah, while Anatole and Patrice renew their vows. Everything is fine in New York, until the Giant Mecha arrives, piloted by the Insidious One and zombified versions of the Separatist leaders. The J.E.D.I. apparently have to deploy their experimental Mecha to combat with the S.I.T.H. Mecha. Patrice apparently remains at the infirmary at the J.E.D.I. Academy (this part is really important!). For the most part, the J.E.D.I. appear to win the battle until the Insidious Mecha finds a weak spot in the J.E.D.I. Mecha. Alexis and several other female J.E.D.I. activate their magical girl transformations to continue fighting, but are barely able to weaken the Insidious Mecha. And that’s when the deus ex machina of the story finally activates.

Back at the Academy, Patrice starts sensing Anatole in danger, and electrical appliances start exploding around her. A J.E.D.I. nurse tells her that she has Gestational ESP; a condition in which a non-Esper mother that is pregnant with an Esper child develops temporary powers of her own, losing them when her child(ren) is born. Most mothers with this condition have low-level powers, but Patrice’s power level is unusually high due to 1) having two buns in the oven, and 2) the paternal DNA being that of the Chosen One. Patrice uses her newfound powers of expectant motherhood to undergo a magical fashion change and creates a flowy, water-themed dress and adorns her hair with flowers. She chooses to manifest her powers as lotus flowers, specifically Nelumbo nucifera lotuses (her favorite flower).

The J.E.D.I. are overlooking the Upper New York Bay, when what appears to be a shooting star falls into the bay, causing a garden of giant lotuses to bloom and a glowing floral design to appear in the water, shooting a beam of light into the sky to finally reveal the super-powered Patrice, who has also gained glowing wings that appear to be resemble lotus petals. She attacks the Insidious Mecha with two glowing lotuses; one blue and one pink (her children are providing her the power), destroying it in the process. However, the Insidious One transforms into a terrifying final form with fire, lightning, and wind storms surrounding her. The J.E.D.I. realize that although Anatole is the Chosen One, he has only half the power required to defeat the Insidious One; the other half of the power is in Patrice. The two, the “Hero with No Fear” and the “Lotus of Florence”, must combine their powers to ultimately defeat the S.I.T.H. Lady forever.

The story ends with many J.E.D.I. and Republic Senators summoned to a hospital, where Alexis is throwing a party to celebrate becoming a big sister.  Anatole is with Patrice in the delivery room. A while later, Alexis, Obadiah, and Regis are called by Anatole to the room Patrice is resting in, where Alexis is introduced to her baby brother and sister. They all take a commemorative photo.

BONUS: Moira Morgan becomes Supreme Chancellor.
