raising Scorpius: Draco Malfoy x reader domestic fluff
Tumblr media
request: can i request some domestic Draco fluff about Draco and MC raising Scorpius, either after Astoria's death or with MC replacing Astoria as Scorpius's mom?? thank youUuu a/n: loved this request, hope this is what you wanted!! word count: 721
Arguably, the most coveted space in the Malfoy Manor was the sun parlor. In summer, it bathed occupants in the warmth of the sun's rays, while in winter, Draco's charms ensured one could relish the beauty of snow without enduring the biting cold. It had some of the most conformable sofas, which made you feel like you were lunging on clouds.
Any time of the day, it was the best room. In the morning, you could nestle into the plush sofa with a cup of morning tea, savouring the tranquil spectacle of the sunrise. In the afternoon, the room offered a front-row seat to observe the majestic peacocks leisurely wandering the grounds. And as evening descended, after a satisfying dinner, it provided the perfect setting to lose yourself in a good book while the sun dipped below the horizon in the distance.
Its panoramic views stretched out before you, showcasing the sprawling grounds in all their splendor. Adjacent to the sun parlour lay the small Quidditch pitch that Draco had set up a couple of years back, providing the perfect spot to watch your husband—often shirtless—as he soared through the air on his broom.
Setting your book aside, you turned to gaze at the pitch, a mischievous grin tugging at your lips as you hoped to catch a glimpse of your half-naked, sweaty husband in action.
But as your eyes scanned the scene, they widened in alarm. Instead of Draco, you saw your three-year-old son precariously perched on a broom, giggling in delight as he wobbled through the air. Fear gripped your heart, you pushed the glass door open and sprinted towards your son.
You looked around, trying to find Draco but he was nowhere to be seen.
"SCORPIUS, COME BACK HERE!" you screeched, your voice trembling with fear, but your frantic calls were carried away by the wind.
The wind whipped through your hair as you reached the edge of the pitch, your heart pounding in your chest. You waved your arms frantically, trying to catch your son's attention.
Scorpius, oblivious to your frantic calls, continued to giggle as he attempted to steer the broom, his tiny hands barely able to grasp the handle. Panic surged through you as he veered dangerously close to the ground, his laughter echoing in the air. Your hands flew to your mouth, convinced you were about to see your son crash against the floor.
Suddenly, Draco appeared, laughing heartily as he swooped in on his broom, scooping Scorpius up safely in his arms at the last minute. You could hear his roaring laughter, but you didn't find it amusing.
"Draco Lucius Malfoy!" you scolded, your voice tinged with anger and relief.
Your husband turned towards you, your use of his full name wiping the grin right off of his face. You could see as he muttered "fuck" under his breath, knowing he was caught.
Placing your hands on your hips, you waited for him to approach. As Draco neared you, his demeanor shifted, his expression a mixture of sheepishness and remorse at being caught. Beside him, Scorpius bounced with excitement, oblivious to the tension between his parents.
"This is not a game! You scared me half to death! Scorpius could have been hurt!" you yelled.
"I'm sorry, my love," he said, his voice soft. "We were just having a bit of fun. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again."
You scoffed, not willing to accept his apology, and turned to look over his shoulder.
He took a step closer, setting Scorpius on the ground beside him. His eyes pleaded for forgiveness as he reached out to gently touch your arm.
Draco's warm touch on your arm sent a soothing wave through you. You turned to face him and couldn't help the smile that spread through your face. Draco saw this as a way in and pulled you against his bare chest.
"Ugh, Draco! You're all sweaty." you complained half-heartedly, but made no attempt to back away.
"Mmhm." he murmured softly as he kissed your cheek. "I'm sorry, it won't happen again."
Scorpius, who had been watching the exchange with wide eyes, piped up with a mischievous grin. "Yes it will," he declared innocently, earning a chuckle from both you and Draco.
How could you stay mad at either of your boys? It was impossible.

♥️ Ranking Richonne
#14: Soon As I Get It, You Will (S6E10)
Tumblr media
This moment will always have an extra special place in my heart. 😍 It’s when I so clearly in real-time saw that Rick and Michonne were going to perfectly transition to a romantic couple because they’d been in love a long time. I said TWD's opening minutes really used to bless us with some great Richonne content throughout the series, and this one from 6.10, their classic canon ep, is atop the list. This scene paints a clear picture that Rick and Michonne weren't just about to become a couple at the end of the episode - they were going to embrace that they already were one...
I adore domestic Richonne scenes and in this scene, they were just so comfortable and happy living what felt like such a normal morning in their home with their kids. 🥰 Moments like this are what I most want for Rick and Michonne and their children. It's the good, happy, peaceful life they deserve.
The scene starts with Rick and his belt, which I gotta say always makes me think the writers were going for a bit of an innuendo lol. Then the shot makes it a point to show that Rick has taken his ring off. That’s definitely a big indicator that he’s now in a place to more fully and healthily move into a new chapter (and to signal to Michonne 'I'm ready when you are' perhaps lol).
Rick grabs the watch but leaves the ring, and that is such an intentional shot. It symbolizes that it’s time to move forward, in love especially, and Rick is finally ready in proper ways to do that.
And he knows who he’s meant to move forward with - Cuz then she shows right up to his door looking glowy and gorgeous in a robe. 🤗
Tumblr media
I love that Michonne feels comfortable enough to approach his room in her robe and towel and ask if he has any toothpaste left and that Rick cutely teases her about using his toothpaste the last few weeks. They bring out such a playful flirty side of each other, and I love it.
Rick’s smile when he teases her and then Michonne's reaction...😊 I know that house felt like a sauna the last few weeks with all that steamy tension they’ve been trying to keep the lid on.
And I like that whatever happened in the last two weeks broke their ability to downplay their attraction - because the way Rick and Michonne are looking and reacting to each other in this scene...you know I gotta use my favorite word - the attraction is palpable.
I’ll also just always love that even when TF all moved into separate houses, Michonne stayed with her Grimes family. She’s one of them fr.
Tumblr media
Michonne sounds like such a mom when she calls for Carl, and Carl sounds like her teenage son when he responds with a low-key attitudinal “What?” This is the first we’re hearing from Carl since getting his eye shot out and it tells you he’s definitely still that same feisty-when-he-wants-to-be kid. 😂
I love the moment when Rick says he can’t hear Carl and has him come on out. And the smile Rick gives Michonne and the way she amusedly looks at him and subtly rolls her eyes when they wait for Carl to come over. 🤭
And then, after Rick smiles at her, he has this extremely telling reaction like he’s trying to play off whatever he’s so clearly feeling about her before Carl comes and catches his whipped self.
But Rick ain’t ever been slick when it comes to how he feels about Michonne, and so even in that little squint that he does, it’s clear this man has caught all the feelings there is to catch lol. This is a man in love, I tell you. And he knows it now. 🤗
Tumblr media
I adore their energy here and I repeat this is not how people who are just friends look at each other. This scene is just so fun too cuz there’s no speculation needed by this point - it is factual that Rick and Michonne are both more aware that they are attracted to and in love with this person in front of them. And it’s sweet to see them be all smiley about it in their final pre-canon scene.
Truly, the only thing they were waiting on at this point was knowing for sure the feelings they felt were mutual.
Carl gives another little attitudinal 'what?' to Rick and when Carl repeats what he said about Denise, Rick says it at the same time as him and it’s such a dad moment. Michonne laughs and I’m pretty positive Rick did this specifically knowing it would make her laugh cuz Carl is not that amused by it at all. 😂
Tumblr media
Michonne again sounds like such a mom when she tells Carl it’s time to change his bandage and she needs toothpaste. I know Rick and Michonne have to be picking up on how much they so naturally feel like a perfect little four-person family right now. Like they were giving mom and dad and they were giving husband and wife...
Tumblr media
And I love that there's always this refreshed good mood when Rick and Michonne get to just live everyday life together with their kids. 🥰
When Carl says he’s also out of toothpaste, Michonne looks over at Rick and shakes her head as they both smile, and you know Rick knew right then and there that he’s gonna find a way to get her that toothpaste today, no matter what.
Tumblr media
And then y’all, it’s Michonne’s turn to have an extremely telling reaction because she then quietly watches as Rick picks Judith up. Again, this quiet lingering look was not a platonic look from our girl Michonne. And whatever she was thinking about Rick at this moment...
Tumblr media
I was probably thinking it too. 🤭 It’s sweet seeing Michonne just quietly take this moment in, knowing that she loves and respects this man, as a father, as a fighter, and as the love of her life.
It’s also heartwarming hearing Rick be so sweet with Judith and say, "come on, sweetheart." Girl Dad Rick is always great to see for us and Michonne - because Michonne’s smile observing this is just precious. That’s a good man and she knows it. And a hot man and she knows that too. 😊
Tumblr media
It's great how Michonne doesn’t just sound like a mom in this scene, she also is such a wife, especially when she tells Rick to "be good out there." And Rick feels like such a husband saying, "yeah we’ll see."
And then you know I gotta take a moment to celebrate my favorite part of this scene - that low-five. 🙌🏽
It's so good, and I credit that low-five as the flashing light that fully let me know these two had a chemistry that was bound to turn romantic. Looking back, it's genuinely crazy it took me until their canon ep to open my eyes and know for certain that what I'd been watching all along between Rick and Michonne was a love story but hey...
Tumblr media
And ever since that low five, I have learned from my mistake and fully boarded this ship without ever looking back.
I love that true to their magnetic ways, Rick extends his hand to her, and, y’all, somehow they manage to make a freaking low-five feel romantic and so much more than just casual.
This is how you know your ship is in (no pun intended) capable hands. Because the actors knew that the next time Rick and Michonne see each other in this ep they're going to go all the way, and so this scene in the opening minutes had to really tell you their current headspace and that they were right on the brink of expressing this long-time love more physically. And of course, Andy and Danai were able to communicate that in something as simple as a low-five. Best in the biz, I'm just saying. 👏🏽💯
This touch between them is important too because their previous few and far between touches had always been one touching the other - but in this moment it was both of them engaging, hinting how they’re both finally ready to express their love a different way.
Tumblr media
And I love that as Rick so often does he accompanies the low-five with a thank you. Always so grateful for her. 😊 He can go out on these runs and trust that his kids are okay because they’re with their mom.
It just felt like such a married sendoff as he thanks her before going out for the day and she casually lets him know her favorite type of toothpaste. I love the way she tells him which toothpaste she likes best and that they're able to live a stable enough life for them to even have preferences now.
Rick says, "soon as I get it, you will" and, chile, he means that. 😋 I love that quick line and that he says this sounding like a husband yet again. He knows it’ll be a priority to get this toothpaste not just for the community but for her specifically because what Michonne wants, whether big or small, always matters to him.
And the line also just feels like a fitting sentiment to their relationship. As soon as he gets that this romance can be acted on, she will. So it’s a great line to land on in their final pre-canon moment together.
(and y'all can we just take a moment to observe the way they are looking at each other during this low-five...like the heat coming off of them is really something. it makes sense later that night would finally be 'the night' because i don't think they could resist for one more day lol ❤️‍🔥)
Tumblr media
I also never noticed that the scene ends with Rick playfully tossing the ball at her. Can they get any cuter? 😭 What Rick and Michonne bring out of each other is just the best and I adore this bright and happy scene for showing this great and lived-in layer to them and their relationship.
Whether you’d been anticipating Richonne for seasons or were new to the ship, this scene made sure there was no denying that Rick and Michonne are family and not just as parents but truly as gorgeous and natural spouses. Married before they knew they were married, y’all, and this moment made it clear.
So I really appreciate this morning scene for showing that Rick and Michonne have built a life together not just as 'team family,' not just as co-leaders, but as a mom and dad and very very soon as an officially consummated husband and wife. And y'all...
Tumblr media
We'll get there. 😉 But for now, staying focused on this absolutely delightful 14th moment on my list - I think about how Rick and Michonne always got to see the more normal and human side of each other ever since season 3. And in this 6.10 scene, you see them both not only witness that everyday side but really be attracted to that side too, in a way they can no longer hide.
So yeah, toothpaste and toothbrushes stayed giving us some great Richonne content. This 6.10 opener showed that the Richonne ship had been set sail - now it was just time to release the 'canon.' 🤗🪥

One Kid Gone, Another Up and Vanished (part 2)
Part 1 (also your responses?? I’m!!!!!so happy!!!! nvm i changed my mind imma continue this) next: Part 3
The Hawkins police station is almost empty as Wayne marches inside. At the front desk, Flo looks up with any lack of surprise.
“Your nephew isn’t in the jail cell, Wayne.” She says in her way of greeting. With the several times of bailing Eddie out of here from his mishaps, she’s practically his next-door neighbour.
“I need to speak to Hopper.” Wayne says hoarsely. After an hour of calling Eddie’s name and walking around the area in the woods, he had drove straight to the station.
Flo blinks, her gaze searching him from head to toe. “How urgent is it to see the Chief? He’s out with Powell and Cahallan for the search.”
“Family emergency-urgent.”
Flo makes him sit down at the chairs as she radioes Hopper. Waiting patiently is usually his strong suit, but Wayne’s leg bounces lightly for the first time in his life. It might have to do with this rushing river of energy that’s keeping him more awake and alert than his coffee.
He knows that he’s gonna pass out soon when the hours catch up to him, but to hell with it. He’s not having any good sleep until Eddie comes home.
The sound of doors opening perks Wayne’s attention up. Chief Jim Hopper approaches him with a nod. “Wayne. What’s the issue here?” Direct as always. Wayne has a little good faith in the chief for that reason.
“Jim.” He stands up. “It’s about my boy Eddie-” he tries not to notice on how Hopper’s shoulders seem to deflate and how his expression hardens to irritation. “-he’s gone missing.”
“You don’t mean run off?”
“Strong word to use when I found his van crashed with blood on the wheel and my nephew nowhere in sight.”
That catches Hopper’s full attention. “Show me.”
Wayne drives back to Eddie’s van, Hopper’s police car right behind him. Predictably, the van remains as it is when Wayne had left it. He watches as the chief and two officers closely inspect the vehicle, inside and out, making comments.
“Keys still in the ignition. Engine’s juiced out.”
“Definitely a bloodstain on that wheel. Nothing else on the seats or dashboard though.”
“How fast was this kid driving?” “It’s Eddie Munson.” “Statement withdrawn.”
“Front’s not completely crumbled than I imagined.”
Wayne doesn’t tell them how loud they’re talking. Keeps his hands gripped tightly around his forearms. He knows police work is a long process, but he does want them to look up at him with an Eureka! and say, “We know where your nephew is.”
Wishful thinking is something new to him too.
“There’s blood on the headlights.”
“What?” Hopper walks over to officer Cahallan squatting at the front. Wayne does the same because he never saw any blood there. Only laser-focused on the wheel.
He still doesn’t see any until Cahallan points them out. Along the damaged hood and headlights are speckles of blood so dark it’s black.
A chill runs down Wayne spine. His first thought is that Eddie hit a deer. Those bastards know nothing about safe road crossing. But… that doesn’t make sense. If it’s a deer, then it could’ve been lying on the road or nearby where he could see it.
“The hell?” Hopper mutters, wiping a hand over his face. He stands up and faces Wayne, leading him away from the van.
“Well?” Wayne asks because he doesn’t want to ask the real question yet.
Hopper sighs. “I’m not entirely sure, Wayne. But with the scene here, I feel like Eddie just ran off, hid somewhere, and probably on his way home.”
“He didn’t come home last night, Chief.”
“Did you check other places where you know he likes to be? Like the high school?”
“No,” Wayne shakes his head, “I was on my way there but I saw the van- Jim, you know it doesn’t look-”
“It could be a hit and run.”
They both whip their heads towards Powell’s voice. He’s standing next to the half-open driver’s door, holding a small white bag with his fingers.
“I mean, van damaged at the front with dry blood on it? The tire marks on the road? Missing driver? This bag of pot I found in the back?” He sniffs, making a face. “It’s a hit and run, Mr. Munson. Textbook. And there’s no body because your nephew might’ve dragged the poor bastard out into the woods somewhere.”
The woods become so quiet that Wayne could probably hear the birds over at the Appalachians. He tries to imagine it. But he can’t because he knows Eddie is too kind, too gentle, too scared to even think of harming another person. Even it’s something by accident, Eddie would just run.
Eddie wouldn’t even do this.
Before he thinks twice, Wayne walks back to his car and restarts the engine.
“Wait, hold on! Wayne!” Hopper grabs the frame of the open car window. “Wayne, I have to take your statement at the station. We’ll still help look for Eddie, alright?”
Wayne glares at him. Without a word, he reverses his truck back to the road and drives off.
He silently prays that Eddie is at the high school so he can ground the boy for the rest of his life.
Jim watches Wayne Munson’s truck driving off before he turns around and stares a hot-metal glare at Powell. Cahallan has been muttering curses and pinching the bridge of his nose ever since Powell explained his hit and run theory.
“You,” he growls, making the officer shrink down, “are a fucking idiot. Who the hell gave you the right to sprout that bullshit in right of Wayne Munson?”
“I- well, I just thought-”
“Can I radio Morgan to tow the van?” Cahallan asks, sending his own glare at his coworker.
Jim nods, not moving his glare. “After we find Will Byers and Eddie Munson, you’re fired, Powell.”
Small hands are shaking Eddie by the shoulder as he slowly wakes up. He absentmindedly slaps them away as he gets up. “Yeah, yeah, Wayne, I’m up.”
But instead of his bedroom, he blinks his eyes open to a natural hollow of overgrown roots with a nightly blue light, weird floating snowflakes, and Will Byers’ face.
“Oh good, you’re finally awake!” Little Byers the Vanished smiles, relief clear on his face.
Eddie greets him with, “What the fuck.”
Little Byers blinks at him owlishly and shakes his head. He tugged on Eddie’s arm. “We gotta run. The demogorgon might come back to find us.”
“What the fuck.”
“The demogorgon? That’s what I call the monster. You know, from Dungeons-”
“What the fuck.”
Little Byers stops tugging and stares at him. Eddie’s never seen a twelve year look so judgemental of him. “You swear more than my dad.” The kid says in a tone that reminds him of Wayne and, shit, does that make him hurry to his feet.
He lets Little Byers grab his mostly uninjured hand and damn, the kid has some arm strength. Eddie lets him to do that because his legs feel a bit numb and he’s shaking badly as he gawks around the surroundings.
This is still the woods in Hawkins, he knows that. But at the same time, it’s not. He can’t stop staring at the snowflakes and vines, tripping over a few.
Fuck, he wants to go home and hug Wayne and never walk into the woods ever again.
“Hey, uh, where are we going?” It’s hard to ask when his teeth are chattering for some reason. Even though it’s November, the weather is warm enough to allow a light sweater and jacket. But here, whatever and wherever here is, it’s so cold that it easily seeps through his flannel and denim vest and below his entire skin.
“My house!” Little Byers says as they come across the road. There are more vines everywhere on the asphalt. And why the hell is everything so blue? “I’ve been trying to talk to my mom and I know she can hear me, but we-”
“Yeah, nope.” Eddie tries to yank his hand out but this kid has a strong grip. “I need to go to my place.”
Little Byers stops and looks at him. “Why?”
“Why? Well, Little Byers,” he runs his other hand through his hair, getting out some dead leaves and the snowflakes, “because I just got dragged into this weird place in the middle of the night after crashing my van and my uncle is coming back from his shift by now, so it would be a relief if I could just go home so he doesn’t freak out!” His voice pitches higher by the end of the sentence.
The boy stares at him with wide eyes. He looks over his shoulder for a moment - presumably to the direction of his house - and back at Eddie.
“Not saying that you should go with me! I mean, you said about trying to get to your mom, right? Like, maybe go to your house and I’ll go to mine and…” Eddie trails off when Little Byer’s expression changes to that judgemental look again. It makes Eddie’s insides shrivel up in shame because he’s finally registering too late the words coming out of his mouth and wow.
Solid plan, Munson. Just leave the missing kid you just found all by himself in this weird Hawkins nightscape and run off alone while a monster is running around wanting to kill you.
“Actually, you know what? I’ll just take you with me! Yeah, solid plan. Watcha think?”
Little Byers breaks into a smile, nodding vigorously. “Yes, that sounds good! We can try contacting your uncle too!”
Oh thank god I didn’t actually leave this kid behind like a fucking idiot. Eddie tugs the boy along by the hand this time to where the trailer park is. He hopes.
Because he gets lost again, he’s probably just going to curl up into a ball and cry like he should’ve done minutes ago.

For You
Casanova!Kenny McCormick x Reader | High School AU
"Stop staring at him, you look like a stalker."
Nicole rolled her eyes at your fascination to the musty blonde haired man. You're looking at him like a hopeless romantic that fantasizes scenarios on her bed. It's the fourth time of the week that you invited her out to come watch the football practice. It's getting out of hand.
She knows that Kenny isn't for you, with that womanizer persona that gets his fans drop to their knees and he looks like he doesn't take a bath. He would clearly play with your heart.
"Girl, get a grip, you know he's up to no good."
"I can't help it."
Nicole furrowed her eyebrows at you in disbelief, what do you mean you can't help it? You are aware what this man is capable of and you decided to ignore it? Nicole's thoughts of objections to your infatuation was set aside when she saw how you look at Kenny. You're completely whipped for the guy.
She just sighed and pat your back.
You waited for Kenny outside the showers right after their practice. You prepared a love letter and sweets that conveys how you felt about him. Surely, you know that he'll appreciate the treat you have, because you saw how he treat his fangirls, he accommodates them.
Kenny was in surprise to find you handing out the letter you wrote for him right after he went out. You look nervous yet has that lovestruck look in your eyes. Great, another one.
"Just what are you doing here, babe?" He smirked at you giving his signature look for his fans. He towers over you and looking at you intently. His actions made you flustered and couldn't form the words you want to say, so you ended up pushing the letter and sweets to him and hurriedly left the scene.
Kenny sighed, that was so cringy like straight out of a cringy something movie. He just wasted his breath for a runner. He scanned the envelope of the letter you gave him and straight away knew it was a confession one, it made him chuckle.
"What a kid."
He crumpled the letter and it went straight to the bin. He popped one candy and gave the rest to the gang.
-
Kenny furrowed his eyebrows at you when he saw you entered the cafeteria holding a bag of cookies. He knows you'll go his way if you ever spot him, so he prepared himself on how he's going to talk to you. When you finally noticed where he was, your eyes lit up and happily approached him.
You caught the other boys' attention when you stood near their table and their eyes are just glued to you. You felt alienated by their stares but tried to pay no mind to it. But, when you finally said your greetings to Kenny, they went back to what they're doing. Like, it's expected or something.
"You finally have the courage, doll?" He once again gave you his smirk that all the ladies receive from him, and it doesn't differs to you.
"I just wanna give this to you." You nervously handed him the bag of cookies you baked last night, with a tag that wrote "I like you". He smiled at you and said his thanks.
After you left their table, he gave the sweets to Cartman. "What, you don't like food anymore?"
"Not really, I just get more than enough of these."
-
"Come on, let's go home!" Nicole called for you from the door of the room.
"I can't! I have to give this to Kenny!" You fixed your things and fetched another set of snacks you brought for Kenny. You've been giving him snacks for a few days now. Your hopes are building up for him as he's been nice during your interactions to each other.
"What, you think he likes you or something? I am telling you, he's only playing with you." Nicole crossed her arms as she leaned into the door frame of the classroom.
"Don't be like that, then I just have to work hard."
"What? Be for real." She rolled her eyes at you and you just nudged her side and giggled.
You bid your goodbyes to Nicole and went straight to the lockers. You waited for Kenny next to his locker as their would be just getting ready for practice.
You spot him walking to his locker while his eyes are glued to his phone. You called for him which broke his contact to the screen and search for the source of his name and saw you. His gaze slightly shift into a blank stare which confused you.
"Uhm... I brought you snacks for later." You gave him the bag you have for him.
Kenny scanned the bag of cookies and saw the tag that wrote "I like you" once again. He internally sighed and didn't take the bag that you were offering for him.
You were just standing there, I bit confused of the situation. It made you look at what you brought, checking if there's something wrong with it, but there was none.
"I don't like you, you're starting to annoy me." He smiled without his eyes, it sheds no emotion of some sort, a pretend one.
"I just want to give you these cookies..." You just smiled at him.
"You think, I didn't know what you're up to? Just get lost." He slightly pushed the bag of cookies back to your direction indicating a clear rejection.
"I'm sorry." You covered you face as tears welled up, and you could feel your throat closing up. You quietly left the scene, not wanting to catch the stares of the students around the two of you.
Nicole's really gonna scold you tonight.
To be continued...

NO REGRETS FOR BEING THIS EARLY-
But I am intrigued on how the fight between naga Volo and naga Warden Ingo would go- a continuation of a prompt I saw you write for here a while ago-
GIRLS THE NOODLES ARE FIGHTING-
-Zorua anon ❤️🖤🦊
I hope you like this! ^^ (I apologize I’m not very good at fighting scenes.)
Based off this
-
-
“Ingo please, let’s just go home.” The tension is thick, almost suffocating.
You know Ingo is strong, but Volo is venomous, and in a time without anti-venom one bite could mean death. But the fierce look on Ingo’s face tells you he’s already thought of that, yet he won’t back down.
“If he wants to try and lay a claim on you, then he already knows he must get through me first. I’m not going to turn away a challenger.”
The viper before you two smirks, showing off the very long fangs you’re worried about. The two snake men stare at each other, glaring, and waiting for the other to make the first move.
Ingo was never one for violence, but he can’t shake the feeling this was much needed and a long time coming.
But he knows he must be careful, Volo will not go down easy nor fight fair.
And he was right, the moment his eyes flickered behind him to make sure you were out of the way, Volo lunged.
Ingo barely dodges the attack, ducking under to slam into Volo’s chest and tossing him to a spot further away from you. The blonde rag dolls for a moment before righting himself and doing it again.
This time the golden snake goes low to the ground, and while Ingo dodges, Volo is quick to slam his tail into his chest, knocking the air from the warden.
Yet Ingo sinks his claws into Volo’s tail, taking him with him. The yellow snake hybrid whips around just as the warden grabs a stick near him and lifts it between them, making Volo bite the stick instead of Ingo.
Venom leaking and glistening in the light.
It doesn’t last long as the merchant is grabbed and lifted by a wave of psychic energy, one which he struggles against. Your Alakazam holding him in place and further away from him, as you rush over to Ingo making sure he’s okay.
“Did he bite you? Are you okay!?”
Ingo grunts, sitting up and coiling the end of his tail around your waist, before swiftly moving you behind him.
“I’m fine, dear. Please, let me handle this.”
“Ingo….fine.”
In a flash of a pokeball, the constrictor hybrid is lifted by his own Tangrowth.
“W-what!?”
“I’m sick and tired of this, I don’t want anyone hurt. So stop this useless fighting, we are going home.”
You ask Tangrowth to start the trek to the highlands, and once it does you’re left with a still floating Volo.
As Ingo's shouts start growing fainter, you stare at the blonde.
“Anything to say for yourself?” You figured you’d be polite.
But he huffs.
“He’s a useless mate, he can’t even fight for your hand properly.”
“I don’t want or need that, it’s pointless to fight. I can make my own choices, what makes you so sure I would’ve picked you anyway?”
Your words cut through him like a dagger.
He’s speechless, for once he can’t think of anything to say. He can only watch as you toss the scarf he made and scented in front of him.
“I’m taking my leave, if you try anything again you’ll be answering to me.”
He can only stare at your retreating form, calling for Braviary to catch up with your lover.
Alakazam drops him once you’re out of sight, and teleports back to you.
Leaving the hybrid alone.
Just as he has always been.

it was hard, being a vigilante. for diego, it was a thankless job, but then again, he couldn’t remember the last time he stuck around long enough to maybe hear a thank you. he was a lone wolf, with the last person he dared to get close to ending up dead in a motel room, and the guilt ate him alive. maybe that was why he was in and out as fast as he was. it was too much of a risk, especially if he had the cops called on him again.
but one cold winter night, something felt different. it was the holidays, and around this time, crime always seemed to pick up. there had been a break in nearby, and as far as he knew, the authorities hadn’t been alerted. and that wasn’t a good sign. so, donning his mask and knives, he hurried to the scene of the crime. it was in a town house complex, full of single family units. the usual targets for these late night crimes. he crept over to the home and peered in through the smashed window, but he didn’t see much. before he pulled away, however, there was a muffled scream, and the sound of more glass smashing. without a second thought, diego climbed through the broken window and landed on the ground, wincing as a few shards of glass pricked at his skin. but there was no time to waste.
he was silent as he inched up the stairs, and he could hear stifled cries coming from behind a shut bedroom door. faint pleas could be heard on the other side, and he gripped the hilt of one of his knives tightly. he had to come up with a plan, and fast. simply opening the door could get the hostage killed, so he would have to lure the burglars out into the hall. he slipped into the hall bathroom and whistled, a sharp, high pitched sound, and then it was quiet. aside from the creaking of the shut bedroom door.
“who the fuck?” a gruff voice asked, but diego remained silent
“seeing anything?” a second person asked.
“nah, think our host is just trying to play some games with us. and i’m not the playful type,” the first man said. they both chuckled, but then, there was a whipping sound in the air, and the first man barely had time to register what had happened before he dropped to the ground, blood spilling from his neck.
“what the fuck?!” the second man yelled, and he looked to the wall to see a single knife sticking out of it. then, he felt a sharp piercing feeling in his chest, and he dropped. the blade of a second knife was lodged in his chest, right where his heart was. both men were lifeless on the ground, and inside the bedroom, you were terrified.
you could only stare at the bodies, watching as the blood stained the carpeting in the hall, and you didn’t move. you only looked up when you saw your savior in the hall, the mask obscuring the area around his eyes. he looked at you, and decided to leave the knives where they were. they would prove your innocence when you called the police, and that was the most he could offer at that moment. he turned to leave, but then you were on your feet, moving on autopilot.
“wait!” you called, and he paused. no one ever asked him to wait.
“yeah? what is it?” he asked, glancing at you over his shoulder.
“you … you saved my life,” you said softly, carefully stepping over the bodies and blood to meet him in the hall.
“just doing my job,” he replied with a shrug.
“well, i … thank you,” you whispered, tugging at the ends of your sleeves. “i don’t want to imagine what they would have taken from me if you hadn’t been here. i … here, come with me.”
you motioned for him to follow you, and to his surprise, you led him down into the kitchen. he was cautious, but watched as you took two mugs down from the cupboard, then grabbed cocoa powder, milk, whipped cream, and a larger pot from around your kitchen.
“uh … what are you doing?” he asked, his head tilting slightly.
“i, well, it’s gonna sound silly but i — it’s cold out, and i know you have to go back out there, so … i thought i’d make you a mug of hot cocoa before i have to … take care of everything,” you said, and you felt your face warm up.
diego was taken aback. no one had ever really thanked him before, let alone offered to make him something. he was never encouraged to stay long. most of the time, people didn’t want his help anyways.
“oh, that’s … that’s really nice. thank you,” he replied, and you nodded. quietly, you set to work making the drinks. you added milk to the pot and let it boil, then added the cocoa powder to it. you mixed it for a bit, then turned off the heat and gently poured it into the mugs. you added whipped cream, then handed him one of the mugs with a small smile.
“hope you like it,” you said quietly, then sipped at your own. he did the same, and it was unlike anything he had ever tasted before. this whole moment was unlike anything he had ever experience before. this was what it felt like to be … appreciated. it was quiet as you both enjoyed your drinks, and then, in the distance, you could hear sirens.
“shit,” he mumbled, setting his now empty mug down. “i need to go.”
“guess the neighbors called someone. better late than never. but really, thank you. thank you so much. if you hadn’t gotten here when you did —”
“good thing you don’t need to worry about that. it was … nice meeting you. i’m … i’m diego,” he said, the words out of his mouth faster than he could stop them.
“diego. it’s nice to meet you. i’m —”
the sirens were getting louder, cutting you off, and you looked at him with an apologetic gaze. you were quick to snatch his mug and wash it, then set it back in the cupboard, trying to erase any sign of him being there.
“will i see you again?” you asked, watching out the window as flashing lights began to brighten your kitchen.
“i’d like to. and, uh, i know your address …” he mumbled, and you chuckled.
“you sure do. now go, before they catch you here!”
diego nodded and headed for the back door, glancing at you as he felt a smile on his lips. you … you were someone special. and he wanted to see you again. and your kindness, and hot cocoa, kept him warm the whole way home.

Doctor Who, but Chronologically: 42
It's 1967! Doctor Who has started on the telly, look.
But! We are jumping in with our... second? third? episode of the Flux, so Whittaker, Yaz and Dan are trying to deal with a universe that just got munched while dog people save Earth and Division are being shadowy paymasters. Last time we saw this, we saw the Doctor be delivered by weeping angels and then met her breathtakingly well-acted adopted Mam, and it turned out she runs Division and also was the one who actually triggered the Flux ready to move to another universe, while Yaz and Dan ran around in the 1910s with a fabulous professor called Eustacius Jericho.
This episode, we meet Jericho seemingly for the first time with an angel-possessed psychic called Claire, in a 1967 village. What an odd choice. Almost as though we are watching this in a very stupid order.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS EPISODE THOUGH
It's an angel episode!!! And a good one!!! The last one we saw was the Angels Take Manhattan, which is contemptible shite that makes zero sense. But this one! It's fucking fantastic. It's proper creepy horror from start to finish - in spite of being in the middle of a six-part story, there's little arc plot beyond a very small handful of scenes. Otherwise, after an unexplained start where a weeping angel is somehow in the TARDIS and hijacking it, we are treated to the tale of a village called St Hilary in Cowbridge Medderton in Devon the night its inhabitants all mysteriously vanish without trace, leaving it to be taken over by the military as a locked camp in the future. One woman in the village knows it's coming, and is desperately trying to warn people, but no one is listening; but, it emerges that this also happened to the village in 1901.
Why? Because angels send the inhabitants back to 1901.
And then back in 1901, do the same thing there, too; and anyone who is sent back more than once dies.
WHICH IS INTERESTING GIVEN THAT THEY SUPPOSEDLY COULD SET UP A "BATTERY FARM" IN MANHATTAN AND SEND PEOPLE BACK REPEATEDLY NO I WILL NEVER BE OVER THE LORE BREAKING OF THAT EPISODE-
Anyway, this one's great. Tonnes of tense, creepy horror, and trying to run away while yelling "DON'T BLINK", although they could all do with working on their teamwork in this field, to be honest. Like, if there are two of you, maybe one of you do the angel observing and not blinking and the other do the looking where you're both fucking going and guiding? Maybe? Maybe that's a good idea? Maybe trade off who's doing which job? Maybe don't all try staring and walking backwards at the same time, thus stumbling into each other/more angels? Really atmospheric, though, proper tense. Also, new lore introduced! Whatever holds the image of an angel can itself become an angel, with a lot of energy on their part. This makes The Angels Take Manhattan even more deeply stupid, since the Statue of Liberty is possibly the most photographed statue in the world, but okay.
Anyway. Claire the psychic is from the present day, but is possessed by a fugitive angel that's on the run from Division. The others are trying to capture it. She gets sent to 1967 by one, but the one possessing her is hiding inside her. Yaz and Dan get whipped back to 1901 while looking for a lost 10 year old called Peggy, who it emerges has been angelled, and also becomes the old woman who knew this was coming in 1967. The whole village, it seems, has been "quantum extracted" - pulled out of space/time to extract the fugitive. While fleeing, Jericho gets angelled and lands with Yaz and Dan, which explains why he was running around the 1910s with them before.
But, the angels take the Doctor instead of the rogue one. We know that bit! We saw that last time.
Meanwhile, some minor arc - Vinder the beautiful man is still searching for Bel. Bel, though, finds her way to a planet that supposedly offers 'salvation', a woman who arrives to take survivors away to a safe haven from the Flux. Turns out it's the beautiful geode lady though. She takes the survivors into Passenger, which is an endless prison. Bel saves an ungrateful man from this, and then swans off into the universe to stop it, so well done her.
LET'S TALK ABOUT JERICHO THOUGH I love him. I love him very much. Kevin McNally plays a fucking blinder with him. Oddly, watching the show in this order really made us feel the horror and impact of the First World War, but not so much WW2 - I think the forays into it were mostly either played for laughs (punching Hitler) or jingoistic tedium about sucking off Churchill, with no real sense of the impact at all. But Jericho has a great little monologue at one point, after the Doctor admires how his scientist mind wants to understand things, and so doesn't stop to be scared. "I was one of the first British soldiers into Belsen after the War," he says. "If you think a few stone statues will destroy my equilibrium, you are mistaken." He also has a spectacular moment where multiple angels suddenly break into the room, and he squares the fuck up to them with all the gravitas and power and titanium-spined energy of David before Goliath and commands them "You stop right there. You are observed, and that is my power over you."
God fucking damn it. Incredible. What a character, what an actor, what lines. Ugh. Perfect.
Anyway, plot threads! Let's see. I mean we have LOTS of planets that have disappeared. Maybe that's the Flux? That seems logical; when Bel reaches the ungrateful man, he tells her that the planet they're on is the last, most intact one in the sector ("A third of a sun, quarter of a moon, half a planet"). Um, the TARDIS is sort of broken/not working again, but then we start the episode with an angel piloting it somehow, so... is that why? And, why is the beautiful geode woman stealing people into a Passenger form?
Fortunately, we don't need to add any plot threads about Division, because that's already been resolved. This watch order is stupid.
“She” (an unknown person) is returning (perhaps River returned as Missy. Maybe Me? Maybe Clara???!)
There is something on Donna’s back
An entire planet, Pyrovilia, just… disappeared, somehow. (Maybe because the TARDIS is exploding??? Saturnine was also lost, and that WAS because of the TARDIS exploding. The lion man’s planet was also lost but he was a bit of a knob about it if I’m honest. The Thijarian planet was destroyed by some sort of impact). NEW INFO: is this the Flux?
Amy is maybe dead (she’s not)
The Doctor has been cubed (he’s out, but how?)
River is possibly blown up  (unless she’s Missy. Nope: she is definitely not blown up)
The TARDIS has blown up  (It’s fine now. Except it’s sort of melting now because it’s corrupted, but it’s fine again. NEW INFO: NOPE, back to not working.)
The universe appears to have ended  (the universe is back again)
The Doctor has employed(?) Nardole
(And Nardole was “reassembled???” Nardole had glass nipples and invisible hair?? WHAT THE FUCK IS HE)
There’s a vault in the TARDIS and it contains Missy but we don’t know why (sometimes she knocks for the bants)
There’s an immortal Viking girl now. Her name is Me and she’s now looking after the people the Doctor abandons
Why was Rory entirely unconcerned by the entire world suddenly going silent when that is Not Normal and should have been, at the very least, extremely disconcerting?
What did the Doctor do to Queen Lizzie One?
Why is Amy seeing a one-eyed woman in a vanishing window? (She’s with the Silents, but we don’t know why Amy saw her)
Why is Amy’s pregnancy inconclusive? (Maybe because the baby had Time Lord DNA?)
Who is Sarah-Jane Smith?
How is the Doctor Bill’s teacher and why/where does he have an office?
What is going on with the Cyber War and the Cyberium???
What happened with the Other Cyber War?
What happened with the Third War that deleted the void?
Why does Rose seem particularly important?
What order do these Doctors go in? (Eccleston, Tennant, uncertain, Smith, Capaldi, Whittaker)
Which companion just… forgot the Doctor, and how?
Yaz and Vinder are about to die as Mori/Mwri/Muuri (NEW INFO: not anymore, somehow)
There is a Lupari shield around Earth.
What’s a Time War?
What’s the Rift?
What’s Bad Wolf?
In which war did the Doctor become a war criminal, and how?
Who is the Master?
Why has Amy forgotten Rory? How did she forget a Dalek invasion?
Is Rory plastic or not?
Why is the Doctor sulking on a cloud?
How exactly does the Doctor have a cloud?
What exactly happened with Strax to, uh, tame him?
Which friend killed Strax?
Which friend brought Strax back?
Where did this lesbian lizard and human couple come from?
What happened with Clara as Souffle Girl and the Daleks?
How does Clara actually join?
Why so many Claras?
Why is Missy apparently in robo-heaven?
Why is probably!Missy pushing Clara and the Doctor together?
What is Trensilor and what happened there?
Who is Handles?
The Doctor is about to be dissolved by a beautiful geode man
The universe is being crushed by the Flux
Will the Doctor open the fobwatch?
Sontarans are invading Earth again
Who is Kate?
Who is Osgood? Another name of Clara’s again?
The fuck is the deal with the Grand Serpent
Does Martha get to go to an ice cream planet with 12-fingered massage aliens?
How did the Doctor forget Clara?
Who is Bill’s puddle girlfriend Heather?
How did Nardole die?
When does Bill get Cyberman-ed and die?
When does the Doctor shrink and enter a Dalek called Rusty?
Whittaker is falling to her death rn
Was that ring relevant?
Does anyone know the Doctor’s name?
When did Yaz talk to Dan about fancying the Doctor?
When did Dan talk to the Doctor about fancying Yaz?
What’s happening with the bees?
What happened with Donna’s ex and a giant spider?
What war wiped out the Daleks, and is it one of the ones already mentioned?
What did the Doctor mean when he said “The (Daleks) always live, while I lose everything?”
If Dalek Caan is the last Dalek left why are there more now?
How did the rest of the Time Lords die?
How and why did Amy melt?
What’s the question that will make silence fall?
Why do the Silents… want silence to fall?
How and why are Silents at war with the Doctor when he… hasn’t even heard of them?
How does Hitler get out of the cupboard?
What’s the significance of fish fingers and custard?
Why does the Doctor feel guilt about Rose, Martha and Donna?
What happened with the space whale?
When does Rory defend Amy for 2000 years?
How does the Doctor survive River
How does he erase himself from history
Did Captain Jack lose his memories to the same people as the Doctor? What did he lose?
When did the Doctor send the Daleks into a void to save the universe?
What’s with the weird crack in the wall and is it affecting memories?
Why do Amy and Rory think the Doctor is dead?
Is Matt Smith’s Doctor a tree racist?
Why is the beautiful geode woman stealing people into a Passenger form?

Whenever Raspberry and her husband experienced conflict, it was rarely just a simple disagreement. She was quick to get hurt over even the littlest things, so each argument felt like the end of the world to her. But Black Boysenberry really knew how to push her buttons in a way that even from an unemotional, objective view, their disputes were pretty terrible.
“You don’t discipline Fizzle enough, she’s not going to learn anything if you keep coddling her like this. For Gaia’s sake Raz, you’re her parent, not her friend. The real world isn’t nice and she needs to know that.”
Raspberry felt like she’d been stabbed when he said this. She tried so hard to be a good mom, to keep her own trauma away from her Fizzy, and that wasn’t enough? What did he want from her? She was enraged and hurt when she spoke up to defend herself.
“You think I don’t know that? Just because I don’t believe in bruising my foal as punishment doesn’t mean I’m coddling her! Parents are supposed to make their kids feel loved-“
She began to tear up as memories of her own fillyhood rose to the surface.
“-Something my parents never did!”
“Will you stop getting hung up on your parents!?”
Boysen shouted back.
“I saved you from them! They don’t matter anymore! You need to stop digging up your past and getting emotional like this! How can you expect to be a better parent when you can’t even handle yourself?”
“SHUT UP!”
CRASH!
Raspberry wasn’t even thinking as she smashed her hoof right through the lamp in a fit of anger. All she was thinking about was what he said. How dare he tell her she’s a bad parent? That her trauma made her a bad pony?
But when she opened her eyes and saw the shattered ceramic on the floor, she suddenly believed it was true.
“Sweet Gaia, what have you done!?”
Boysen cowered in the corner like a foal, looking almost battered as he stared at the mess in horror.
“I...I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean...”
“Mommy?”
Both ponies whipped their heads around to see their daughter Fizzlepop Berrytwist gazing upon the scene, her expression one of worried curiosity.
“Fizzy, I-“
“Fizzlepop Berrytwist, go to your room!”
Boysen barked.
“But what happened?”
“No buts!”
He commanded over her questioning.
“Go and don’t come out until the morning or you’re grounded!”
With that threat, Fizzy raced up the stairs as fast as she could, heeding her father’s orders.
Raspberry watched her go, her heart breaking at how scared her daughter looked.
“You...you didn’t need to yell at her like that-“
“You have no right to tell me how to manage my daughter when you can’t even manage yourself! Look at what you’ve done!”
He gestured towards the shattered ceramic on the floor.
“She will be scarred for life knowing her mother is capable of so much damage! That she could easily hurt a PONY because she can’t control her emotions!”
Raspberry wanted to defend herself, but she couldn’t bring herself to as she crumpled to the floor sobbing, making a futile effort to pick up the pieces of what she’d broken.
“I’m better than this. I HAVE to be better than this. I WILL be better than this.”
*****
Fizzlepop Berrytwist had spent the whole night in her room, listening to her parents fight until she eventually fell asleep. Mommy was crying a lot and she felt super bad for her, so when she woke up in the morning she rushed down the stairs, anxious to see if she was okay.
“Mommy?”
She called out, hearing no answer at all until she found her father in the kitchen. He was alone, looking oddly peaceful as he read the morning paper and sipped his black coffee.
“Daddy? Where’s Mommy?”
“Don’t worry Fizzle, that isn’t going to happen again.”
He said in a calm tone, referring to the events of last night.
“Is she okay? Where is she?”
Fizzy pressed on, not having received an answer the first time.
“Her emotions were out of control so I did what I had to do to protect us. There’s nothing to worry about anymore, Fizzle. We’re safe now.”

Welcome to Lon Lon Ranch (LU in Healthcare)
(@hermitdrabbles56) Plot chapter! :D Time breaks the ice a little with Twilight.
(Click here to read on AO3)
Twilight shifted awkwardly in the back seat of the car. He’d already told the pair that he had no ride and usually took the bus to work, so they’d offered to give him a ride to their home and back to his residence. Twilight had vehemently argued that he could just get a ride on the bus from the hospital if they’d be so kind as to take him back there.
The whole thing made Time even more suspicious.
Either way, the drive itself was fairly uneventful. Malon threw out the occasional kind remark or gentle question, and Twilight would always give a soft, polite reply. He seemed fairly shy of the entire situation, and Time supposed, given the circumstances, that was understandable.
He still didn’t like how cagey he was, though.
When they arrived at the ranch, the most they’d learned was that Twilight liked his new job and was settling into Castle Town fairly well. Malon headed inside first and went straight for the kitchen, where she had some food prepped from the night before that just needed to be cooked.
Which left Time and Twilight to settle in the living room.
Well, from what little he had spoken in the drive over, Time knew that Twilight had moved into town four days ago, and he liked his job. He supposed he could work with that much to make conversation. The surgeon himself was a quiet man, but sitting here beside the boy as he fidgeted nervously was nearly unbearable.
“What made you choose pediatrics?” Time asked curiously. “You could have been a tech anywhere.”
For the first time, Twilight gave a small, genuine smile. “I like working with kids.”
Time was going to comment when he saw Twilight’s eyes start to wander around the room, catching sight of different decorations and pictures. His face lit up, and suddenly the quiet, shy, cagey, skin-and-bones young man was filled with life. “You—do you have animals here?”
Time followed his gaze and saw the picture of Malon beside Epona, as well as horse shoes hanging on the wall. He smiled in return. “This is a ranch, Twilight. We have all kinds of animals. Do you want to meet them?”
Twilight whipped his head around to look at Time. He seemed completely at a loss for words and instead nodded vigorously, his face glowing. The display made him look like a child, and Time had to laugh at it. “All right, then, let’s go.”
The pair exited the house and took a left, heading farther into the property where the fields for the horses and cows were. Twilight practically gasped with delight upon catching sight of the animals and quickened his pace. When he reached the fence, the horses watched him curiously. Twilight whistled out a tune that made Time freeze in his steps, and some of the horses nickered excitedly, strolling towards him.
“You know that song?” Time questioned.
Twilight turned sightly, and Epona approached and nibbled his hair, making him laugh before he had a chance to answer.
Time watched the scene and felt his heart warm. It was good to see the kid smile. Instead of pursuing the question, he went to the house and grabbed his ocarina, coming back outside to play the same tune, exciting the horses and attracting all of them to him.
Twilight looked at him in wonder. “Wait… how do you…?”
“Malon taught me,” Time answered with a smile. “Must be a family song.”
“It is,” Twilight remarked quietly, his gaze distant as his face softened.
Time reached out and pet Epona as she nuzzled between the two. “You miss home?”
Twilight sighed, his polite veneer attempting to return before the tiredness in his eyes won out. “A little.”
When he didn’t elaborate, Time felt it prudent to leave the subject alone for now. Malon called that dinner was ready, and the pair headed indoors, though not before Epona played with Twilight’s hair one last time, making him giggle.
Later that evening, Twilight hopped off at the bus stop two blocks from his motel, his belly and heart full of warmth. He made it to his room and smiled cheerily at Wild as he entered.
“Looks like things went pretty well,” Wild noted.
“Yeah,” Twilight answered simply, lying down in bed and staring off into space with a dreamy smile. “Yeah, it did.”

How do you get to JFK?
Tumblr media
My take on how this airport scene is going to go. Read on AO3.
As her parents bicker about their delayed flight ahead of her, she feels her eyes being drawn to the rapid movement of a crumpled black suit moving briskly through the crowd below the walkway. Midge falls behind as she follows the figure trying to get a better look, It can’t be. It’s been a month since she last saw him, since he had yelled at her about tanking her career. Though it was a thoroughly embarrassing dressing down, she can now admit she needed it.
The sight of his teary eyes as he told her that she would break his fucking heart had lit a fire within her and she had been working and hustling like a madman ever since. She’d still been working at the Wolford; it was a stage where she was free to speak her truth and people came to see her, but she was also paying her dues like every other comic trying to make it. Working shitty gigs surrounded by male comics and asshole bookers who just didn’t get it. And by some mad stroke of luck of Ford himself seeing her act at the Wolford and Susie’s hard work, she was joining the writing team at the Gordon Ford show come next week. Without his kick up the ass she wouldn’t have this, she’d still be hiding. The problem was that he had disappeared after Carnegie so she couldn’t even thank him. She’d heard no word of gigs, or tv appearances, he wasn’t even in the press all that much, besides the reviews of the Carnegie performance and a couple mentions of arrests. She had hoped that he would have sought her out by now, maybe even called asking for her to bail him out - and god did it hurt that he hadn’t.
Fate however, as it is wont to do when it concerns them, deemed it necessary to intervene because how else do you explain both she and Lenny being at JFK on the same day at the same time? She reckons it’s her turn for a sneak attack, she can’t let this opportunity pass her by not knowing when she’ll catch him next.  “Hey I’ll catch up with you at the gate, I’m going to go ask the information desk for an update on our flight.” She calls to her parents, turning on her heel and heading towards the stairs after him. God, why does he always walk so fast? She's talented in heels but even she has her limits. She sees him head for the tunnel and decides to try and cut him off by entering from the side nearer to her. When she gets there she looks to the right, spotting him emerging into the corridor. He looks a bit out of it, dark bags under his eyes, his suit wrinkled like he slept in it. She notices he’s wearing the same tie as he did in Miami. Does he only own like three ties? One of them is still at her apartment so maybe two now.
“We’ve got to stop meeting like this” she calls out and watches in amusement as his head whips round to find her and his eyes blow wide a little at the unexpected sight of her.
“The universe seems to keep throwing us together. Guess that’s what happens when you don’t call..” she trails off a little accusatory as she walks up slowly to him. She stops a few feet away, suddenly unsure of an appropriate distance.
“Midge? What are you doing here?”
“Headed to a funeral in Oklahoma with my parents.” Waving her hand as she speaks
“Oh shit, I’m sorry”, tilting his head in concern.
“It’s okay, thank you, it's a distant family on my mothers side.”
He nods at that. “Oh Hey congratulations on booking the Ford gig by the way, you’ll be running the place in no time” he says, so surely that even she believes it a little. “Hell, play your cards right, you might even become his in-house comic.” Wagging his finger at her with a smirk.
“Yeah maybe” she smiles, feeling suddenly shy under his praise.“It feels good to be working again. Plus it comes with the added bonus of not breaking your heart.”
He smirks up at that and tilts his head slightly, in a way that is so Lenny, “Ah yes thank you for that. Us Jewish men don’t have the best track record when it comes to heart conditions so we need all the help we can get.”
She lets out a chuckle, before getting serious, “Really Lenny, thank you for what you said at Carnegie. You were right, I was hiding, I was afraid of getting burned again. I’m sorry that I turned down the Bennett gig, and I’m sorry for any damage it caused on your end sticking your neck out for me like that. I don’t know what the hell I was thinking.” She can feel herself starting to ramble but she needs to get this out “I wasn’t thinking, that’s the truth of it. I thought I had missed my shot with getting kicked off Shy's tour and I just wanted a steady gig, one that paid, one I didn’t have to censor myself for. I thought I was being smart, protecting myself, but you were right. I was giving up. I could no longer see myself making it big anymore, I thought, this is all I get” gesturing her hands to the side and letting them fall to her side.
Lenny pauses, and smirks, “And now?”
She smiles at him softly “Now I can see it again, the vision I had when I started this mad career choice. I can see myself headlining the Copa, wearing a beaded white cocktail dress. I can see me on the stage of Carnegie, pink dress this time.”
Lenny snorts at her inclusion of what she’s wearing in her fantasies.
“You’ll get there Midge, you’re destined for it, you’re just too damn good, sometimes I forget that you’ve only been at this for a couple years.”
Midge feels herself tearing up a little at his words
“I’m sorry I yelled by the way, got a little carried away.” he adds.
Midge shifts awkwardly, unsure of what to say to that. Their silence is broken by the laughter of a passing couple, as the voice over the tannoy announces the next flight to board.
“So, you heading out of town for some gigs?” Taking note of the bag clutched under his arm.
Lenny scratches his ear a little nervously, a look she hasn’t seen on him before “Er I’m actually moving out of town for a little while, to LA.”
“Oh-” she breathes, a silence passing between them as she lets the news sink in, her brow scrunching in confusion. “How long will you be gone?”
“I’m not sure” Lenny admits, almost sheepishly. Another drawn out silence passes between them.
“Wait so you were just going to leave without saying goodbye?” That comes out shakier then she intended.
“Midge-”
“You could have called for Christ’s sake”
He doesn’t have an answer to that.
“So that’s it? That's all we get? One incredible night and a fight on the stage of Carnegie Hall?”
Midge feels like the ground is opening up beneath her, “Tell me, have I been reading things wrong?” Gesturing her hand between them. Lenny takes a step towards her, shaking his head. “This feels like the goddamn Sadie Hawkins dance all over again.” She mutters, more to herself than him.
She looks back up at him, stepping into his space “That night we shared felt like it was a long time coming. It felt like it might have been the start of something. Was I wrong?” her voice rising.
Fuck why are her eyes welling again, she doesn’t want to cry in front of him.
“Hell, maybe I should have realised I was reading into things when you didn’t contact me for a month, Christ I’m an idiot.”
“You’re not an idiot midge-” to his credit he looks just as pained as she feels.
“Tell me something, what was that night to you? Because all the flirting, the favours, the sneak attacks - fuck Lenny was that all just in effort to fucking sleep with me?!”
“Jesus Christ, of course not Midge!” He says, stepping away gesturing a little wildly. A passing mother shields her child's ears, ushering them through the tunnel quickly. “I was telling the truth - I did not plan that night. I didn’t expect it either.”
“So what, it was just a spur of the moment kind of thing to you?”
“No midge. It was-” he exhales, deflated, and looks skyward ‘fuck, I mean - Midge it was more than I could have ever dreamt.”
She stops at that, her eyes locking onto his.
“Look, I didn’t dare to hope I got more than just that one night with you.”
“Why the hell would you think that?”
“Because I’m a fucking mess Midge, it would never work out between us. I can’t give you what you deserve and I would only end up hurting you.”
She scoffs at his reply, crossing her arms, “And you get to decide that all on your own and leave me high and dry. Fucking hell Lenny I thought we were friends. First and foremost. I felt like I finally got onto the same page with you and now you’re fucking off to LA?”
He stops at this, tears in his eyes.
“I’m sorry Midge. I just - I can’t be here anymore. My kid is in LA, the state of New York is gunning for me, the arrests are getting more serious and frequent, and - to be honest - nothing good can come of you being seen with me.”
“You saw what was in the bag Midge” he adds quieter sounding ashamed and not meeting her eyes.
Midge is at a loss of what to say, her mouth opening and closing multiple times trying to reply - she feels the fight leave her.
“Please don’t leave Lenny.” She says in a quiet and teary voice, “What am I supposed to do without you? You’re my only friend in this goddamn industry. Who’s going to bring their umbrella to my shows? Who’s going to be there to pull my head out of my ass?”
He gives her a sad smile.
“You don’t need me, Midge. You never did.”
She feels a tear escape and roll down her cheek as he turns to leave.
“Knock ‘em dead” he adds before he heads out through the tunnel towards his gate.
___________________________________
He’s a goddamn coward is all he can think as he joins the line to board his flight.
He turns when he hears his name shouted from behind him, suddenly a blurry pink figure is rushing towards him. He drops his suitcase and coat on instinct as Midge launches herself at him and kisses him. Lenny’s arms wrap around her instantly gathering her close, unable to resist as she devours him. It’s a kiss that verges on indecent especially given they are surrounded by people waiting to board the plane. She pulls back for a moment, their foreheads pressed together.
“I may not need you, but I want you Lenny Bruce”
She kisses him again softer this time drawing out the taste - it feels like goodbye.
She takes his hand and places a crumpled piece of paper into it
“For when you’re ready” as she closes his fingers over it.
She kisses him once more briefly then parting, missing her soft lips already “Look after yourself Lenny” she whispers and with that she turns and walks away not looking back. He finds himself stuck, feet routed to the floor as he watches her leave. He unfolds the note she handed him revealing her address and phone number along with a note scrawled in a rush:
Someday we’ll stop walking away from one another.
He feels the tears build in his eyes as he watches her disappear into the crowd and he tucks the note into his pocket turning to board the plane. Someday he thinks to himself. Someday.

Indy's Greatest Adventures
Tumblr media
I rewatched all of the Indiana Jones movies lately, coincidentally just in time for the trailer of the new one, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. After I replayed Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis last year and realized that Indy was way more of a tomb raider than I remembered him to be, I was a little nervous about revisiting these films. I needn't have worried too much - wonky portrayal of India aside, the movies still hold up well. There are colonial overtones if you bother to analyze things with a 2022 mindset, sure, but the truck chase scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark still has to be one of the best sequences I've ever seen on film. The same goes for the mine carts in Temple of Doom and the tank scene in Last Crusade. Even Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which I tolerate more than most, has a few moments of pulpy goodness, nuclear fridges aside.
Tumblr media
This brings me to Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures for the Super Nintendo, one of the few video games that decided to capture the magic of all of Dr. Jones' then-current films. I first saw a screenshot of it as a kid in Issue #9 of The Adventurer, a magazine that LucasArts put out to advertise their products, and I thought it looked neat as hell. A game full of levels inspired by all three Indy movies?! Genius! I never actually played it as a child, since I didn't have a SNES growing up, but the concept stuck with me. And so after I finished watching the films I decided to give Greatest Adventures a whirl, since it's easily accessible by emulation these days.
The game, published by LucasArts but developed by Factor 5 and JVC Musical Industries, runs on the same engine as JVC's three Super Star Wars titles. I haven't played those, but a quick look online shows that they're renowned for being hard as hell and featuring levels that take quite a few liberties from what was in the movies. (Remember how Luke had to go toe-to-toe against a Sarlacc pit monster in the beginning of A New Hope?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Greatest Adventures doesn't stray quite as far from the source material, though the last boss of the game is a goofy skeleton version of Donovan after he drinks from the wrong Holy Grail. For the most part, though, you've got traditional platforming stages inspired by most of the major moments in each film, like Indy exploring the Well of Souls, beating up Thuggees in the tunnels beneath Pankot Palace, and facing the traps leading up to the resting place of the Holy Grail. Every now and then you'll get a level that expands upon something not really seen in the films - for instance, a snow section that shows Indy in Nepal trying to reach Marion's bar. Then there are what I like to call "gimmick" levels that present you with a key moment from the movies, like Indy running from a giant boulder at the beginning of Raiders or avoiding gunshots in a nightclub in Temple of Doom, and these break up the standard platforming by forcing you to run forward to survive or duck behind cover. Finally, there are three levels that take advantage of the SNES' fancy Mode 7 chip, placing you in a 3D perspective. Temple of Doom gets two of these, mimicking the life raft plane jump in the Himalayas and the mine cart chase. Last Crusade gets the final one, presenting the moment when Indy and his dad escaped a zeppelin via biplane and had to shoot down some Nazis.
Tumblr media
It's all standard SNES platforming goodness, though the game is pretty darn hard. Indy controls well (though for some reason his whip is a far better weapon than his gun) but as the game ramps up you can expect to find a lot of inconveniently placed enemies (like birds, a la Ninja Gaiden) designed to trip up your jumps and bleed your health meter. The latter Last Crusade levels in particular start putting you up against Nazi mechanics and guys from the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword who can throw wrenches and knives in a perfect arc that always seems to hit you, and it's a fine recipe for frustration. There's also one level where you've got to swing from your whip between the windows of Castle Brunwald, and man is it kind of impossible.
I also wish there was more of an equal distribution of levels between the three movies, since Raiders gets 12 stages while Temple of Doom and Last Crusade only get 8. Also, I would've liked to see Indy's sidekicks present. Greatest Adventures depicts the story of each film as kind of a streamlined alternate take where Indy's alone all the time, and while Marion and Professor Jones Sr. show up in cutscenes (and notably the Game Over screen), others like Short Round and Willie Scott are nowhere to be seen. Willie, I guess I can do without, but not including Short Round is a crime, especially when they could've easily designed a Mode 7 chase scene with him driving a car as Indy escapes Shanghai.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These quibbles aside, playing Greatest Adventures with save states neutralizes a lot of the frustration, and for an Indy fan, there's much to like here - from the lovingly-recreated John Williams score to the occasional stage that really rewards fans of the movies. For instance, Raiders' infamous swordsman in black shows up at the end of the game's Cairo levels, and instead of proving to be a major boss encounter, all you've got to do is shoot him once to move on, just like in the film. There's also a Last Crusade boss battle aboard a tank where you can't use any other weapons but your fists to punch Colonel Ernst Vogel into submission, and you've got to do it before the tank rolls off a cliff, too. Good attention to film detail there!
The era of licensed video game tie-ins for films is more or less over, so I doubt we'll see anything in the form of electronic entertainment when Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny comes out. (Bethesda does have the Indy license and is supposed to deliver an original game that might coincide with the movie's release, but they've been silent on that front for a year, so we'll see what happens.) With this in mind, I do recommend giving Greatest Adventures a run-through if you've got a high tolerance for old-school platforming or at least want to relive Indy's glory days before the new movie releases. Along with Fate of Atlantis, it's probably the only 2D Indy game worth replaying by today's standards.

okay okay, my aftersun thoughts. going to do some spoiler free ones and then some more spoiler-y ones below a read more line. overall i really liked it and will probably watch a second time eventually just to see if i catch anything i didn’t the first round. 4.5 stars from me (-:
- if you like the musical fun home you would love this i think. i saw a lot of bruce and alison in calum and sophie.
- the editing at the beginning was a bit headache inducing, and same for the strobe light moments that pop up throughout the movie. totally understand the purpose/symbolism, just not my personal vibe.
- i think i love kid/childhood centered movies so much bc it blows my mind when kids are like- really good actors. this little ‘poppet’ as she’s called in the film was incredible. i want to see her in more things.
- there were a few things that felt vaguely confusing/plot holey which i’ll get more into under the cut but it was nothing bad enough to fully take away from how much i enjoyed the film!
- the directing/cinematography was beautiful. there’s one moment esp where you can only see them in the reflection of a tv that really got me.
- this was my first paul mescal film and i thought he was great! divorced dad trying to dad™️ is one of my favorite tropes of all time and he didn’t let me down.
SPOILER-Y THOUGHTS UNDER THE CUT
- i’m glad they didn’t go in a more sinister direction with the teenage (young adult?) boys. i was worried they might and definitely saw an opportunity for it but was grateful they didn’t.
- i fully thought the girl in the club was sophie’s mom, not sophie, until like an hour ago and thought it was flashing between them bc calum was seeing her turn into her mother and it scared him. i was, apparently, wildly incorrect in that interpretation LOL. but the last dance scene is still beautiful nonetheless, even if a bit too heavy on the strobe lights for my taste.
- the first time i cried was when the resort singer whipped out unchained melody…hi e!
- was digging around film twitter and apparently ppl are pretty split on if calum is gay but personally i did get that vibe.
- the fun home ring of keys vibe with sophie seeing the two guys kissing and the scene almost right after of her as an adult waking up next to a woman got me down baddd. my favorite moment right under the final dance scene. and the happy birthday scene. and the phone booth and the- okay i’ll stop now i liked this movie if you couldn’t tell.
- re plot holes i just felt like we never got a full picture of what was going on with calum that was making him spiral? i feel like more context as to why things didn’t work out with sophie’s mom would’ve fixed that. back to the gay!calum theories.
- i went in completely blind except for the synopsis bc i didn’t want any spoilers and there were multiple times throughout the film where i thought calum was going to die or kill himself. but maybe that’s just my anxiety!
- sophie reminded me sooo much of little me. the wearing a bikini under your clothes to feel like you’re wearing a bra. starting to see your dad as infallible. being enamoured with older kids. the scene where the older girl gave sophie her resort bracelet made me so (,: another one of my favorites.

If I wrote Scene 2 of Act 2 of Wicked...
I’ve wanted to do this ever since I saw Wicked for the first time as an adult back in 2019 and realized there was this odiously ableist scene.  I was watching a bootleg with SJB the other day and had to stop watching because that scene upset me so much, so I wrote this instead (I do want to see Stephanie’s No Good Deed, though, I’ll probably double back).  Act II is so incoherent, the scene could be changed to literally anything and it would be an improvement.  I earnestly believe Winnie and Stephen should quietly replace that scene with more respectful material, because Wicked is going to run forever and disabled audiences deserve better.  Here’s my attempt at the rewrite.  I wrote it like a screenplay because sorry that’s all I know how to do, I’m a big dumb playwriting baby!
Lights up on a bedroom chamber. Nessa, dressed in ornate robes, addresses Boq, just as put-upon as ever.
BOQ Nessa, you can’t keep letting the Animals into Munchkinland, the Munchkins don’t have enough as it is.
NESSAROSE Since when did Munchkinland have closed borders?
BOQ Since the Emerald City closed theirs.
NESSAROSE I won’t hear this.
BOQ Being a leader means making hard choices—
NESSAROSE Boq! I won’t hear it.
Boq recoils, head down.
BOQ Sorry, madam.
NESSAROSE I’ve asked you to call me Nessa, my love.
BOQ Yes, madam.
That stings. He bows and takes his leave. As he disappears, a light flicks above Nessa’s wardrobe:
ELPHABA Well it seems the beautiful only get more beautiful…
Nessa whips around—
NESSAROSE AhhHH!
She sees her sister illuminated from within the glass of her wardrobe mirror.
ELPHABA While the green just get greener.
NESSAROSE Oh, Elphaba, I’m so happy to see you!
Nessa rolls over to the wardrobe as Elphaba clambers out through the mirror. She takes her sister’s hands.
NESSAROSE I was so worried— it can’t be true, what they’re saying about you, I know it—
ELPHABA I don’t have much time, Nessa. I never thought I'd say this but I need father's help. I need him to stand with me.
NESSAROSE Elphaba, that's impossible.
ELPHABA No, no it's not. Not if you ask him. You know he'll listen to you, you just have to ask him—
NESSAROSE Elphaba. Father's dead.
ELPHABA What?
NESSAROSE He's dead. I'm the governor. When he heard what you’d done… he… they said he died of the shame.
ELPHABA Well good. I’m glad.
NESSAROSE That’s a wicked thing to say.
ELPHABA He wasn’t going to help me anyway. It was stupid to come.
NESSAROSE He was our father.
An uncomfortable silence passes between them.
ELPHABA I should be going.
NESSAROSE I could stand with you. If you tell me what happened. I am the governor, it would mean something—
ELPHABA No, Nessa, I can’t let you harbor a fugitive, I’ll only put you in danger.
NESSAROSE Elphaba, you don’t need to protect me.
ELPHABA I killed father, it’s the least I can do.
NESSAROSE No! You’re just like him. ALL OF MY LIFE, I’VE BEEN PUSHED THE SIDE BY PEOPLE WHO TELL ME THEY CARE ALL OF MY LIFE, I’VE BEEN SHELTERED IN PLACE BECAUSE SOMEBODY ELSE WANTS ME THERE ASKING STAND ON MY OWN FOR JUST ONCE BUT ALL THEY CAN SEE IS THIS CHAIR
ELPHABA Wait. I can… Nessa, I can fix this. I can do what I should’ve done long ago.
NESSAROSE What’s that?
Elphaba takes out the Grimmerie and begins chanting.
ELPHABA Ambulahn Dare Pahto Pahpoot
Nessa’s shoes begin to glow red.
NESSAROSE Oh, ow— ow, it burns!
ELPHABA Ambulahn Dasca Caldapess Lahfenahto Lahfenahtum
NESSAROSE What is that? Ah! My shoes! It feels like... like they're on fire! What have you done to my shoes???
ELPHABA Pede Pede Caldapess.
Nessa’s feet move from under her. She lifts her dress… revealing THE RUBY SLIPPERS.
Nessa stands, but falls. Elphaba goes to help her up—
NESSAROSE No, don't help me.
She stands.
ELPHABA Oh, Nessa, at last... I'VE DONE WHAT LONG AGO I SHOULD AND FINALLY FROM THESE POWERS SOMETHING GOOD FINALLY SOMETHING GOOD...
NESSAROSE Elphaba, I…
ELPHABA I should be going.
She approaches the mirror and begins rifling through the Grimmerie, but Nessa SNATCHES it from her hands.
NESSAROSE No, wait. Boq! Boq, come see!
ELPHABA Nessa, nobody can know I'm here!
Elphaba tries to grab back the book. Nessa darts around, book held above her head, grinning at her new ability to evade her sister. She ducks behind a table just as Boq enters and sees Elphaba:
BOQ What is it madaaAAAH! What are you doing here? You stay back!
He grabs a metal poker (or maybe it’s a gun? The bootleg I’m watching is low quality) and brandishes it at her.
ELPHABA Boq, it's just me, I'm not going to hurt you!
NESSAROSE It’s true. Boq, you can trust her—
He turns towards Nessa and sees: she’s standing. He drops the poker.
BOQ (to Elphaba) You… did this for her?
ELPHABA For both of you. Nessa, I really need to go.
BOQ Elphaba, this changes everything.
NESSAROSE It does?
BOQ LISTEN NESSA...
NESSAROSE What?
BOQ UH NESSA, SURELY NOW I'LL MATTER LESS TO YOU AND YOU WON'T MIND MY LEAVING HERE TONIGHT...
NESSAROSE Leaving?
BOQ Yes... THAT BALL THAT'S BEING STAGED ANNOUNCING GLINDA IS ENGAGED TO FIYERO...
NESSAROSE Glinda?
BOQ YES NESSA THAT'S RIGHT! AND I'VE GOT TO GO APPEAL TO HER EXPRESS THE WAY I FEEL TO HER Oh, Nessa, I’ve been in love with Glinda since before she dropped the “Ga.”
NESSAROSE But I thought… I thought you loved me.
BOQ I only did this for her. To prove my love, but... I need to go before it’s too late.
Nessa whips around towards Elphaba.
NESSAROSE Did you do this?
ELPHABA No, Nessa, I had no idea.
NESSAROSE You asked her to do this to me.
ELPHABA I didn’t, I swear.
NESSAROSE You’re both just leaving me!
BOQ Nessa, I lost my heart to Glinda from the moment I first saw her.
NESSAROSE Lost your heart? Well, we'll see about that...
ELPHABA Nessa, what are you doing?
Ness flips through the Grimmerie, squinting at the pages.
NESSAROSE DID YOU THINK I'D LET YOU LEAVE ME HERE FLAT?
BOQ Don't come any closer!
NESSAROSE YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE YOUR HEART TO ME, I TELL YOU! IF I HAVE TO... I HAVE TO... (She finds the page she’s looking for…) MAGIC SPELL YOU...
ELPHABA Nessa, let him go.
NESSAROSE Ah... Tum... Tah... Tae...
ELPHABA Stop, Nessa, it’s dangerous.
BOQ What is she doing?!
ELPHABA You're pronouncing the words all wrong! That’s enough!
Elphaba wrestles the Grimmerie away from her…
But Boq clutches his chest and staggers back.
NESSAROSE Boq! What is it?
BOQ My heart feels like it's... shrinking.
NESSAROSE Elphaba, do something!
ELPHABA I can't! You can't reverse a spell once it's been cast!
NESSAROSE So what do we do?
ELPHABA Let me think.
Boq stumbles into Nessa’s empty wheelchair and falls back. Elphaba rummages desperately through the Grimmerie while Nessa watches.
NESSAROSE No, no, no. This is all your fault. If you hadn’t used that book in the first place—
ELPHABA Nessa, please, I have to find another spell... it's the only thing that might work.
Elphaba pulls the wheelchair towards the wardrobe and starts casting another spell.
NESSAROSE Save him, please! THEY PROTECTED THE BURDEN BUT LEAVE ME HERE HURTING THE PRICE I PAY FOR COMPANY’S INCREASED I WON’T BE ALONE AND LOVELESS HERE JUST THE GIRL IN THE MIRROR JUST HER AND ME! THE WICKED WITCH OF THE EAST! WE DESERVE EACH OTHER...
Elphaba comes out from behind the chair.
NESSAROSE Well... what about his heart?
ELPHABA It's all right. He won't need one now.
NESSAROSE Will he… love me?
ELPHABA I have to go.
NESSAROSE You’ve taken everything from me. Boq. Father. I bet you embarrassed him on purpose.
ELPHABA Nessa.
NESSAROSE You pretend to care about Animals, about father, about me. You don’t care about anyone but yourself, I bet you’re just going back to the Emerald City to find Fiyero and take him from Glinda—
ELPHABA Nessa! Please. I have done everything I could for you… it has never been enough, and it never will be. But what happened to those monkeys is my fault. I have to set them free.
Elphaba turns to go.
NESSAROSE Wait, Elphaba. Please don’t go.
ELPHABA Goodbye, Nessa.
She leaves. Nessa crumples just as Boq stirs.
BOQ Where am I? What happened?
NESSAROSE Nothing, Boq, you just fell asleep... and...
As he rises from the wheelchair, Nessa sees…
He’s made of tin. She yelps.
BOQ What is it, what's wrong?
NESSAROSE Boq, it wasn't me it was her! I— I tried to stop her, but—
Boy sees himself and SCREAMS.
NESSAROSE Boq, please, I still— It was Elphaba! Boq! It was Elphaba!!!
He runs off, leaving her alone…
BLACKOUT.

ive decided to just make a giant meta ab the ending episodes of assclass and why it really punches in the whole series
tw // murder, abuse, suicide, domestic abuse, child abuse, spoilers ahead for season 1 and 2
honestly, yanagisawa really dug in the truth to all the kids, rubbing it in their faces that they were koro’s weakness all along. that while he was shiro and itona was attacking, koro had to stop saving himself all along to save the kids first.
they witnessed more murders and attacks than they signed up for. they rub it in their faces that takaoka tried to take them out twice, that itona was weak and the tentacles would have killed him, that kayano was destined to die by the lab’s doings just like his sister.
he even made a sick joke about having kayano as a backup wife while she laid dead on the floor. they sat there and helplessly watched their best friend get murdered as their own parental figure was getting beaten down as well ???
nagisa picked up his friend, who LOVED HIM to death in all ways, DEAD body and held her dripping with blood through out the fight. the one person that didn’t bully him for looking more feminine, who got him chocolates but was too afraid to deliver them. that gave nagisa his ponytails at the beginning of class and gave him his confidence over his gender presentation that his mom took away from him ????
she’s dead, just like her sister, because of yanagisawa. who is the reason why koro’s a monster, who is the reason why kayano and itona had tentacles as well. they thought it was their only way to power, to revenge, to take back over their lives, that singlehandedly was all yanagisawa’s fault ????
during that last scene, reaper 2.0 attempts to murder them over 10 times, not counting all the times yanagisawa tried before, with itona. trying to drown them, getting the kid stuck in the crossfire, starting all of this to begin with?? takaoka and his little minions through out that few episodes, nagisa himself with the assassin with the whip in that one off trying to kill him and his mom ????
yanagisawa knows himself just how badly these children are mortified and traumatized and comments on it, and how he wants to make them suffer even more. theyre sitting there watching reaper get killed, and literally holding a dead body of their classmate, sobbing because they thought she was a goner for the time being.
and he had to tell them to take him out after the fight because the space station was going to take him out anyway. they wanted a way out... but there wasn’t one.
they had 28 minutes to kill their teacher. and took a vote, no one wanted to actually murder him, but they didn’t want the government to put the whole class to waste, their whole year and every lesson just... bullshit.
some of them crying while holding him down, no one really wanted to do it. nagisa started screaming once he tried to deliver the blow he was so emotional during it. that’s the one person who saw him, help him stand up to his mother, stop getting abused and tossed around. stood up to karma who kept dragging him down and belittling him at times, stopped his suicide attempt at the very first episode. not to mention talking to nagisa’s dad to try and get him to be more apart of his life down the road.
as of now they’re down 20 minutes already, the conversations and speech he gives, the vote, the talking to irina and karasuma, the role call, and some can’t even answer they’re crying so much. 10 minutes.
he has to calm nagisa back down to not kill him with regret and anger in his heart. to take a deep breath and remember the good and be happy with what he’s doing. he just shakes, and shakes, and shakes until after he’s calmed down, accepting the reality of it all.
but it’s so hard to be happy murdering someone who’s given you self worth, who might have been a bad person before but showed up for these students who were kicked in the dirt. he knows he gave their life meaning and even said it out loud.
and then they all just sob, sob, and sob over what was where his body was after nagisa finally stabs him, little lights and particles floating into the air and slipping through their hands literally. screaming, crying, denying, some refusing to open their eyes and just holding each other. the only thing they were left to cry over was his gown. irina and karasuma just watching them and failing to not cry themselves.
14-15 year old kids. they’ve just murdered someone against their will after trying so hard to prevent it, even risking him blowing up as a possibility.
they went back to the classroom looking for anything left of their teacher, and found year books, and a book of advice, and diplomas. they knocked out at their desks on top of the books left for them and didn’t wake till morning.
they get stuck being watched by the government and slapped with gag orders, adding insult to damn injury by the people who caused this in the first place. the media told the world that they were brainwashed, abused, had stockholm syndrome, that they were being held captive. it got broadcasted to the world to see and they couldn’t really hide from it anymore.
only for media to stalk them to their graduation they begged karasuma to let them actually go to despite them knowing at the end that it was going to happen, that the world wouldn’t let them live. insult to injury.
we’re left for the last scene of the anime being nagisa crying before they explain what happened after their class left.
nagisa never went back unlike everyone 7 years later, he didn’t keep up with anyone except karma so it seems from the movie.
