Hi, big fan of your fics. I've just found your Tumblr and binged everything Icemav-related. When reading about Icemav's political beliefs, I've gotten curious. Does Bradley share the same political beliefs as Ice (and Mav)? Does being raised by them or them pulling his papers influence how he votes? Or there are other factors in the play (e.g. generations, social media)? How about Jake and the other Daggers? How does this young generation of the Navy perceive politics (elections, gender, etc.)? My apologies for bombarding you with questions. But as a non-American, American politics have always been something we must pay attention to. I've seen many interesting interpretations on Tumblr but it feels more or less wistful than realistic, but I might be wrong (again not an American) so I would love to see your perspective on this. Thank you.
a good politics roundup post before i leave this blog
icemav & their conservatism: here, here, here
ice’s NECESSARY conservatism as commander of the pacific fleet (i.e. officers who are most likely to get promoted to the highest ranks do NOT break the service line when it comes to domestic politics, so by necessity ice would’ve had to keep his mouth shut, he Cannot be both a four-star and a revolutionary, like he just can’t; and being a revolutionary is otherwise antithetical to his character anyway): here, here.
and the original “ice & mav politics post” which is being updated here: here
I’ve gone back and forth on everyones politics over the last year of me being involved with these characters, but let me just tell you where I’ve ended up headcanoning them politically, if ur interested
ice: reagan democrat. “educated moderate” who was more right-leaning pre-9/11. now just a regular ol liberal (did you SEE those gay little round glasses in tgm? no way this guy isn’t a straight-up lib) with absolutely no strong feelings about most domestic politics besides “fascism bad”. Has some foreign policy opinions that areeeee questionable at best, like all members of the military elite (hangman voice: DO NOT ASK ICEMAN ABOUT CHINA. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE). foreign policy neoliberal favoring the dovish side of the spectrum. A force conservator (“let’s save our military assets [read: my boyfriend maverick 🥺] for when we really need them, not for any old conflict. the deterring specter of the American war machine should outweigh the risk of underperforming”). He’s in favor of marriage equality of course, but treats it like a privilege and not a right. would be sad/upset if it got repealed but wouldn’t necessarily fight for it. “well at least my marriage will always be legal in california so i just won’t leave, problem solved.” Normie median Biden voter.
mav: political wildcard tbh. original 1986 mav is DEFINITELY right-leaning (i think i’ve written elsewhere, “he fully believes bill clinton is an affront to god”). i get young republican vibes from him. Full on patriotic (but dispassionate) 1980s reaganite anti-commie neoconservative. but after the 2010s i am very confused tbh. Tom cruise’s political aura is an insanely confusing one. idk. No matter what, Mav has some Hot Takes that a.) can immediately be shot down by ice using Facts and Logic at any time and b.) are not strictly partisan. He’s registered democrat just to support marriage equality (his marriage is his top priority but he doesn’t care about Other gays’ marriages, only his own), doesn’t care about any of the party’s other lines. Votes however ice tells him to. I get real “kind clueless libertarian” vibes from 2022 maverick tbh. Especially with the “isolating himself in a hangar in the middle of the mojave desert.” that has a political connotation to it for sure. bro just does whatever he wants out there
also, ice & mav live in San Diego, which… while in blue/democrat leaning California…is famously a bastion of right-wingers & has a hitler particle level off the charts… (sorry its not my favorite place in the world). That’s why they’re both continually so disgusted by San Francisco (a metonym for effete liberal homosexuality). Theyre from San Diego, hatred of SF & liberal SF politics is kinda par for the course down there.
Bradley: as u will see in the extras i definitely hc Bradley as an activist, but because he’s… in the navy and also like in his 30s… It’s not college campus activism, it’s just “things all of us in the left wing can agree upon” activism. so, like, BLM or pride, etc. He’s an “in this house we believe” yard sign liberal. He is 38 years old. hes a solid millennial so not politically hip with the kids (me)
Bradley & ice/mav disagree on the VISIBILITY of politics. Ice & mav, who did live through the vietnam era draft/near-dissolution of American society in the 60s and 70s, are not in favor of possibly losing their job/honor they have fought and killed for, for the sake of a political statement. And they believe their relationship IS a political statement, whereas Bradley would rather encourage them to treat their relationship like, I don’t know, a relationship that has a right to exist independent of politics!
Jake and the other daggers: idk. i don’t really give a shit about the daggers sorry. They r blank slates 2 me. jake especially is canonically frat-boy sexist in a way that gives me the heebs, much like original 1986 maverick and ice. But the navy tends to be the most left-wing (or thought of as left wing in common thought) service of the military, if that helps. But it is also the most traditional service of the military, and by traditional I mean BRITISH!!!! 🇬🇧💂there’s so much pomp and circumstance and hoity-toitiness that comes from the navy’s origins in the Royal Navy. A lot of sticking to outdated tradition in the very fabric of the navy itself, while the navy’s enlisted demographics shift younger and more left-wing/“revolutionary…” some interesting conflicts there. Like that one sailor who got blasted by multiple congressmen on social media for (with permission!) reading a poem about their queer identity on the USS Gerald ford’s intercom a few months back, if I remember correctly. Hoo boy the Takes that day were wild. Younger Americans tend to be more liberal but YMMV with officers, who are by nature trying to uphold outdated traditions of the navy for the sake of keeping the navy a unified service
i am of course writing carole as a christian republican who has gay friends and a gay kid not by choice but by the Grace of God
#i realize some terminology in this post is so hyperamericanspecific that you may need to Google it#like the in this house we believe yard sign#it’s… like… i can’t even describe it. it’s a kind of well meaning liberal who can sometimes be a little cringe.#and Reagan democrats (which ice is) are a whole political subgroup in and of themselves#maybe not Reagan democrat but like conservadem? but no that’s different too#blue dog democrat? but not sure he’s that conservative#THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY HAS BECOME SUCH A BIG TENT POST TRUMP THERE ARE 50.000 TYPES OF DEMOCRAT YOU CAN BE#san francisco as a metonym for effete liberal homosexuality of course (it’s where im from 😎😎)#it’s a ten hour drive from SF to San diego like they might as well be different countries. san diego secede from the US when 🙏🏽#pete maverick mitchell#tom iceman kazansky#top gun#icemav#top gun maverick#jake hangman seresin#bradley rooster bradshaw#normie median biden voter ice#the navy is liberalizing but veeeeery slowly#most of the conservative pressure ive seen towards the navy is external! policymakers & budget drafters etc#the navy is very liberal BUT that makes it a laughingstock among conservatives!#so a desire from higher-ups to push the Navy more conservative to be taken seriously…is kinda understandable#when being taken seriously means more ships more capability more money etc#instead of GOP culture-war-pilled pennypinchers going ‘hey why are we givin the gay service so much money’#take this post with a grain of salt. i have never been old enough to vote in a federal election.

HEARTBREAK HIGH SEASON 2 REVIEW
Likes, dislikes, and some general thoughts.
TL;DR spoiler free review: I give this season a 6.5/10. It’s not bad but compared to the previous season, it certainly felt like a downgrade. Some of the editing choices felt poor, a few characters that had felt layered and realistic had lost their substance,  a couple of interesting plot beats and character arcs were either rushed or solved with very little satisfaction and pay off, and I can’t help but feel a lot of the drama had become far too unrealistic by the end of the season. I had some fun watching the teenage hijinks, and there are stand out scenes/storylines that had me invested from start to finish, but overall I can’t say that this season lived up to its predecessor or my expectations.
Longer rant under the cut! SPOILERS AHEAD!
I’ll start with what I liked and enjoyed (in no particular order):
Cash owns my heart now and forever. Season one had already solidified him as my favourite character, and watching him go through his asexual journey, trying to navigate his relationship with Darren while setting boundaries was… Ugh, so fucking good. I’ve had my own share of relationship anxiety, fearing that because I had no interest in sexual activities that I would be hurting my future partner. Dusty’s whole talk with Cash felt so reminiscent of things people would say to me when I tried to talk to them about my own sexuality. I was so ecstatic when Cash told him to fuck off, because no, asexuals are not robbing their partners of anything. Our sexuality and boundaries in relationships are not problematic or abusive; no person should ever feel like their worth in a relationship is based on whether or not they have sex with their partner. Anyone who says otherwise can fuck right off. I was crying during Cash’s talk with his Nan. 10/10 best storyline.
Quinni not masking was so cathartic. Neurotypicals really don’t understand the stress and mental gymnastics we have to go through every fucking day just so we fit in. It’s so fucking hard and watching her be herself fully was just amazing. Slay honestly.
BI MALAKAI BI MALAKAI BI MALAKAI
All of the Australian pop culture references. So good. Chinese succulent meal. The reference to Scomo shitting himself at the McDonalds. Cash not registering to vote and his friends getting mad at him even though our voting is so shit and never taken seriously (I along with several people I know have written shit on our ballots and have never gotten in trouble ever). THE NUTBUSH. Woodsy’s little jab at Pavlova being from Aotearoa (New Zealand) and not Australia. Ugh, so good. Finally, references I understand /hj.
Amerie and Harper being best friends… Their protectiveness for each other… My heart.
The class camp made me so nostalgic. Can’t speak for every Aussie, but my camp did have the boys sneaking in beer. Although, we all got too scared so we all just had a sip before pouring it all out before we could get caught. We didn’t even get buzzed, lol. Also, the class getting high on shrooms together, oml.
Malakai and Amerie… Ugh, those two… So messy and complicated and I love them.
Props to HBH finally making an authentic (albeit toxic) love triangle. Only took a while but we got one.
Woodsy helping Harper with driving lessons… My heart.
Quinni being so hyperfixated that she survived her snakebite. She’s just like me fr. I also loved the editing changing when it was her perspective. This is her world and we’re just living in it.
Idk his name but whoever played Chook was genuinely terrifying. 10/10, I wanted to smash his face in every time he came on screen. Truly phenomenal acting.
Actually, I’ll give a round of applause to the entire cast. All of them did stella jobs.
And now… the dislikes (again, no particular order):
Spider’s arc. I know some people like him, but as someone who went to school with, and got bullied by dickheads like him, I could not get behind his whole redemption storyline. I really didn’t like how they blamed his misogyny and arrogance on his toxic mother - it felt like they were saying that men are only sexist assholes because feminists obsess over profiling them all as rapists and abusers which is so fucked on so many levels. It just felt like they were given excuses for his behaviour and how it isn’t really his fault, it’s because of his mothers abuse and I am so fucking over that theme. Abuse does not justify shitty behaviours from ANYONE. It can apply context, sure, but I am not going to excuse someone for being a fuckwit just because they have a shitty homelife. I was abused! I had hurt people around me to cope! That doesn’t make it okay!
Also… People like Spider are more likely to be misogynistic because of a sexist environment - not because of crazed misandrists believing all men are rapists. I think it would've been much more believable if instead, Spider hadn’t had a father or a close male role model to grow up with and became very insecure about his perception of masculinity and manliness, so he used society and social media as learning tools to form his personality and unfortunately internalised a lot of misogyny.
The conclusion of Spider’s redemption also felt way too rushed. He only stops joining Voss because the man slipped up while ranting and because he got slapped in the face. In season one, it really looked like they were going to explore how Spider’s insecurities around vulnerability and masculinity made him put up a front to shield himself. During his relationship with Missy, some points almost felt like they were going to full dive into exploring it but then they backed out, or they wouldn’t let the scenes room to breathe before rushing into the solution. I would’ve liked it more if Spider had time to really grapple with his worldviews and how hurtful he was being, and working on distancing himself from sexist ideals. It would’ve felt a lot more authentic imo.
And I really was not on board with Missy x Spider. I don’t know, it didn’t feel like an authentic attraction, just more like the writers somehow needed someone to jumpstart Spider’s redemption journey while also providing a convenient romantic love interest. Maybe it could have worked if they two were given more time to develop an understanding companionship and Missy wasn’t into him while he was still a fucking dickhead? Maybe they could’ve had the whole rival's sexual tension thing work if it was given way more focus instead of just “Boy see Girl doing something sexy and fall in love”? I don’t know, romance and sexual interest isn’t really my expertise, so maybe it’s just a me thing.
Rowan’s whole character was a huge miss for me, holy shit. It’s 2024, STOP MAKING MENTAL ILLNESS A FUCKING VILLAINOUS TRAIT. I don’t even know what the fuck his mental illness was supposed to be. I work in youth counseling and psychology, and none of his symptoms feel authentic. Was it psychosis?? Was he supposed to have borderline personality disorder??? Untreated PTSD with severe hallucination and dissociation symptoms??? Type 1 bipolar going through a severe mania episode?? FUCKING WHAT DID HE EVEN HAVE??? For a show that handled autism so beautifully in these seasons, they dropped the ball so horribly with Rowan. Bad character, bad execution, bad storyline, bad everything. Do your fucking research on mental disorders instead of just writing “obsessive and crazy” hbh writers, fucking hell.
Also, why did he need to have this whole dumb past connection with Amerie? Why did Amerie suddenly have a backstory of being a major cunt and bully? Why was none of her shitty behaviour talked about in season one? You’d think when her classmates were ostracizing her for the sex wall and getting everyone involuntarily sent to SLT’s, they would’ve brought up this shit. Spider and Harper had their personal reasons to dislike her but no one else brought up anything. Why not just have it that in the earlier episodes, Bird Psycho was spreading baseless rumours and misinformation? Then have people divided on whether or not they would believe Amerie when she went to disprove them? You can even have others making shit up to add to the situation for more drama.
Sasha and Zoe… Oof, bad execution all around for those two.
Sasha… Oof. Thought her storyline was going to deal with her hypocrisy around activism and being a sjw invested in identity politics. Maybe some exploration on how applying moralism to activism is never a good thing EVER and that you shouldn’t care about oppression just because it makes you look like a better person - you should care about it because oppression is fucking disgusting and needs to be eradicated. Should’ve known they would’ve just made her into a bad joke. Pouring one out for the missed opportunity.
I really thought that Zoe’s character was going to explore sexual insecurities and how everyone has a different approach to sex. Examining the difference between sexual pleasure and sexual intimacy. Maybe even some discussion on how it’s okay to have sex simply just to explore your own preferences and likes, and how no one - especially women  - should ever be slut-shamed for liking sex. But nope, she was a really bad celibacy joke and a plot point for Darren. Yikes.
Speaking of Darren, my fashionable child, look how they massacred you. What was their whole deal with Quinni this season? Did they suddenly forget about her autism? Did they suddenly stop caring about her difficulties with masking? Season 1 Darren “You’re my too much” would NEVER have fucking told Quinni that the world couldn’t play be her rules. Season 1 Quinni panicking in the bathroom at a party? Oh, no, Amerie don’t touch her, that’s not how we help Quinni. We help Quinni by providing a quiet and safe space and reminding her that she is in charge of what we do next. Season 1 Quinni becoming non-verbal due to a meltdown because Sasha was being bigoted? Nope, Sasha you don’t get to talk to Quinni, no one forces Quinni to talk, she will do it when she is ready. Wtf happened Darren? It really just felt like the writers were trying to make drama between them both and decided to butcher Darren’s character to do so. Just… oof. Very bad.
Harper’s trauma being forgotten about or developed after two episodes… What. Nothing about her relationship with her dad, nothing about her relationship with using sex as a coping mechanic, nothing about her PTSD, absolutely fucking NOTHING. Why? She just felt like she was there for other characters to develop off of.
Also, Ant and Harper felt really rushed. I would’ve liked it way more if Ant actually went and befriended some girls before he got into a relationship with Harper, or even if the both of them became friends before they developed a romantic relationship but they really weren’t given room to breathe.
Also also, Ant accomplished nothing?? I don’t remember one significant thing he did this season that gave more insight into his character or that wasn’t just to uplift other character’s developments. It sucks because last season alluded to some religious trauma that I thought we were going to get to explore more. He needs so much more substance than just “haha, funny guy” imo.
Missy and Malakai deserved more to their stories than just relationship drama. Where was their Indigenous culture? Where was Malakai’s ‘gone my country’ story element that helped him last season? We rarely ever get Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander actors able to show their culture even in Australian media, so last season when they brought it up I was so happy but now… No mention of it? Nothing? I loved their friendship and their scenes together but God, I wish they happened more outside of their romantic relationships.
Amerie’s pregnancy storyline felt super rushed. Really wish it had more time to breathe, and to stress the importance of contraception and abortion rights. It all began and ended within one episode… Really felt like it deserved just a little bit more time, y’know? Especially in this day and age. It kind of just felt like last minute drama. Maybe more will come out of it because Amerie told Quinni? I hope the fuck not though because I really do not want Quinni’s character slaughtered.
Cash… Showing Chook… Where he lived… Cash is not fucking stupid. What the fuck was that. Making drama for the sake of elevating the story I guess.
Harper’s and Amerie’s dumb fight in the last episode that was really there so Rowan could have a mental breakdown. Yikes.
Wasn’t a big fan of some of the music choices. Few great songs, few iconic songs (Untouched by the Veronicas my beloved), but overall some pretty dodgy choices. I like BLACKPINK, don’t get me wrong, but they’re not that popular in Australia? And The Cranberries are amazing but again, not really an Australian favourite? Idk, just felt like they were picking from the Top 500 Charts.
Okay, the whole fire thing was really fucking stupid. In 2019-2020, NSW had massive out-of-control bushfires that ravaged the country. We have incredibly intense fire-safety because out country is so fucking flammable. Our sprinklers don’t run on electricity - the heat melts the protective plug on the sprinkler, and then water is released from where it’s stored in the pipes. We have fire blankets and extinguishers. The school would’ve been doused. And by the way, there is no such thing as only two teachers chaperoning formal. Not for 25< kids. And the cohort teachers would’ve been invited to go anyways?? And if a crazed man with fire did appear out on the oval, the students would’ve legally had to evacuate to another safe place. Cops and the firefighters would’ve been called immediately. All of the last episode was just such unbelievable bullshit, oml.
“Oh but the school is really sketchy” Idgaf, that whole fire thing was so stupid.
The afl over nrl holy shit. Like, as a queenslander, that shit really fucking hurt to see, I am so sorry sydney goers.
Alright some general thoughts:
Much of the drama in this season just didn’t feel authentic. Most characters were forced to make stupid or unrealistic choices so that drama could happen rather than just allowing the plot to naturally allow for intriguing stories to unfold. I felt like this season was forcing everyone to be involved in something tremendous at every single point, only then to become overwhelmed with how to finish or solve the issues so it was quickly given a bandaid or ignored in favour of moving onto something else.
The first season had the main issues of separating Amerie from her classmates, of people trying to navigate relationships with all the messiness of being a teenager, and of dealing with things that you don’t know how to solve. Characters were given time to be emotional, to make mistakes but not be villainized for them. Scenes and problems were given room to breathe, there was time for all of the story beats to develop and come together.
This season felt more akin to something I’d see in Riverdale or Pretty Little Liars. Over dramatised problems and a mystery that involved pretty shitty characterisation to pull off.
I still like Heartbreak High, and if there is a third season, I’ll definitely give it a watch, but overall, I’m not very enthusiastic about season 2.
One other thing is more related to the backlash I’ve seen from two of the main characters, Malakai and Missy. Some people are infuriated that these two bisexuals have ended the season in a straight-passing relationship and… Okay. I’m not going to sugarcoat any of this; stop being biphobic cunts. You complaining about these two characters ending up with an opposite-sex partner is biphobic. Bisexuals aren’t limited to only ever being in same-sex relationships, fuck off.
Okay, now I’m done.

♡ Idk what to title this I'm sleepy ♡
( Re2r!Leon x GN!reader || teaching him about sanrio characters ♡ voted for by pookies like you w/ this poll !! )
Tumblr media
“...huh.” Leon slowly nods his head as he stares at the small collection of figurines in front of him. Tuxedo Sam, Keropi, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamonroll, Marroncream. You say their names like you knew them from the heart, and you did.
And there was, of course, the star of the show, Hello Kitty. Hello Kitty was the only one he knew, Sherry told him about her before. Compared to the rest
“You really planned this out..” He can feel the corners of his mouth tugging into a soft smile as he looks at the small, almost thumb sized collectibles in front of him. Seeing how excited you were, as you explained, each character was cute. The little glint of excitement in your eyes made Leon smile even more.
Who knew something as small as a thimble would cost so much? Leon did. He couldn't say no to the way you clung to his arm at the register when you said you forgot your wallet at home. His wallet was still weeping from how much those little things cost. You didn't even buy the entire collection.
Thank God you didn't, Leon didn't know if he'd be able to financially recover if you bought the entire series of these pint-sized plastic toys. He's still trying to remember the name of the black hooded bunny looking thing next to the pink hooded bunny looking thing.
Leon probably was overanalyzing it. As soon as you shove a yellow dog in his face, he snapped out of his own head.
“This one reminds me of you!” You exclaim, smiling even more as you show him a small yellow dog figurine. Leon's cheeks were probably going to hurt after smiling so hard, but he does it anyway. How could he not smile? Hearing you ramble on and on with him just nodding along and listening was sweetly teeth rotting to him. You were so cute he'd probably buy you more of those little things if you asked nicely. “Aww really? That's cute.” He comments, tilting his head as he looks at the figurine in your hand.
“Mhm I know, right? His name's Pompompurin, and he's a golden retriever puppy! He's five puddings tall!” he chuckles hearing you mention Pompompurin's height. Five puddings tall? How cute.

I looked up my crush online and found out that he was registered Republican. Normally I would be indifferent but in today's political climate i gotta tell you I breathed an audible sigh of relief when i read that. Not long before I met him I had my heart broken by someone (vote blue no matter who type but i didn't know that til it was too late) who went from talking to me everyday to I can't stand to acknowledge your existence, and it was explicitly stated the reason for it was because I did not want to get involved in political discourse. The fact that it's a source of heavy trauma for me he felt was not adequate reason to stay out of the discussion. I told my crush about this and he didn't really respond, he just got quiet for about five seconds, rolled over, grabbed my hand and told me to spoon him. I took it as him accepting my boundaries because he never brought it up again. Our interpersonal relationship is still fairly new so who knows where it will go.
And it's just making me think how incredibly out of control the Dems have gotten. That something i normally would rather not be involved in like that made me breathe a sigh of relief cause it's like good he's not crazy, he's not gonna push me into conversations that are damaging to my mental health. It's amazing how dems don't notice (or care) that so many people are not only jumping ship, but going so far as to go to the opposing side, and all because they can't (or refuse to) get themselves under control.
Idk i was just curious what you thought of that.
My first thought is I'm glad you have that first toxic person out of your life. Too often people like that find excuses to stick around, get their claws in deeper, and can really fuck you up. So as much as that must have hurt, you'll be much better off in the long run. Both for having them out of your life, and for the lesson in what kind of toxic personalities to watch out for.
Your crush seems like a better person, though of course, as you said, your relationship is new and there is probably a lot you still have left to discover about each other.
As for the craziness of the left, yeah it's getting to the point where even the "normal" ones are going off the deep end. They buy into media fearmongering about nazis and climate change and every election being the "last chance for democracy to survive" so they're constantly on edge about things that just aren't happening. It makes it very easy to manipulate them and turn them against anyone who doesn't toe the line. It also gives bullies and sadists cover for treating other people like sub-human garbage, so it naturally attracts a lot of those kinds of personalities. I won't ever claim the right is perfect, but when the left is becoming the safe harbor for abusers, pedophiles, groomers, bullies, and gaslighters, it's best to just distance yourself from them and surround yourself with people from other points on the political compass.

tw: abusive parent mention, politics mention (well more like voting mention), controlling parent, i think that's all?
looking for: advice
Hi! Thank you so much for all you do, and I hope one of you can help me? To clarify, I'm in the U.S.
So I'm a closeted queer liberal kid living with my abusive mother who is extremely conservative.
I'm seventeen, turning eighteen this fall. I just registered to vote for the first time (not actually voting). I registered myself as unaffiliated.
However, I'd like to be registered as a democrat. My mom was with me when I registered, and not only did they ask her permission for me to register, she did it with me sort of? Like they didn't say I had to get her approval, but they did tell her to make sure I was doing it right? I was confused, but I knew I couldn't register as a democrat in front of her.
I'd like to be able to change to a democrat for my first elections coming up, but I also can't do it in front of her or tell her. Should I wait it out as unaffiliated until I'm on my own (hopefully summer of 2023 but idk)?
And how would I go about changing it on my own? I hope this makes sense!
Hey there nonny!
Registering to vote can be tricky when with parents, but the good news is that it's very easy to change your voter registration on your own! You should be able to change your registration via online, mail, or over the phone. It's up to you if you'd like to change it now or when you move out, but it should be a fairly simple process that your mother shouldn't be involved in at all.
This is the link to get that started online if you please. Registration changes will have a deadline prior to elections if you'd like to have those changes for the election, so make sure to check out what your state's deadline is and get it submitted by then if that's what you want!
Now, in terms of actual voting, your party preference means almost nothing. It doesn't limit or prohibit you from voting in anything except primaries, and even that is state-based. Some states have "closed" primaries, which means they will only let you vote for a candidate of your party preference. If your state is closed, you as an unaffiliated voter will not be able to vote in primaries at all.
There are also "partially closed" primaries, which means that each election cycle, political parties can choose whether or not to allow unaffiliated voters to vote. If your state is a partially closed state, be sure to see if you would be allowed to vote in the upcoming cycle! If you can, you may be asked (depending on state) to declare which party you will be voting towards in order to receive your ballot, and that choice will be public record, so watch out for that!
Other states are "Open to Unaffiliated Voter" states, which means that unaffiliated voters can always vote for either party, but may be asked to declare which party in order to receive the ballot (depending on state) which once again will be public record.
The rest of the states are "partially open" or "open" states.* You would be able to vote in either, but in partially open, if you choose to vote for a party, you will become registered under that party. (So if your state is partially open you may be able to just vote and change your status that way). In open states, who you vote for is totally up to you every time and there's no "catches." Keep in mind that all of these types are only for primary elections, and that you will be allowed to vote for whomever in the actual elections regardless of party affiliation. (If you don't know what primaries are, it's basically voting to see who will be official candidates in the general election. Think of it like people applying for jobs where 50 people apply, but only 10 are allowed to be shown to management. Primaries will whittle that 50 to the 10 that can be considered for the position. A large portion of people choose to skip primaries entirely).
This is a link that will tell you which category your state falls under, and explain what that means as well.
Once again, you can vote for anyone in any party during the actual elections, regardless of your registered party affiliation.
So really, it won't affect your actual voting much at all if you decide to wait, which means it's mostly a personal preference to you. If you feel like you can safely change it now online or over the phone or whatnot and you'd like to do that, then that's great! If you don't know that you can do that, or aren't comfortable with that idea, then leaving it the way it is for now won't really affect your ability to vote democratic at all.
*With the exception of California, Washington, Nebraska, Louisiana, and Alaska. However, if you live in one of these states, you will be allowed to vote in primaries, and vote for whoever, regardless of political affiliation.
I hope this helps you out, nonny, and just remember to do whatever you feel safe doing! Your safety is the priority for sure!

as someone who's not only from the US but also from a red state, i'm pretty sure the OP of that post about trump wasn't talking about people who have trouble getting out to vote or are affected by things such as gerrymandering. recently on tumblr there have been a lot of people talking about deliberately not voting even though they could, or going on about how horrible it is to tell people they need to vote for biden, because they're (understandably, but still) mad at biden for funding israel and don't realize that letting trump win over him would only make things worse for people in palestine, as well as for people in the US and in many other places in the world. i've been seeing so many posts going around where people say they're going to purposely not vote for biden and encouraging others to also not vote for him, that it's been making me utterly terrified that we're about to face another trump presidency. i think that's what that post was addressing.
I agree another four years of Trump would be catastrophic. I am also terrified anon. Thank you for reaching out and being respectful,
How is tumblr a reflection of the american population as a whole? and like There is NO context on OP's post, just generalizations. MY FEEDS haven't had people saying shit like that. There's been outrage over palestine, over US involvement, I've seen posts Promoting voting especially in states that have been criminalizing queer citizens, I've seen posts begging people to register, providing links to help do that. If OP wanted to increase Voter Turnout they maybe would've looked into those organizations in the states and promoted it too, I guess they can be doing that too right now. That is IF it's so important to THEM, those who don't have to live in it. It's easy to criticize. I'm not over here making posts about England and Ireland's relationship for example, I dont create my own content to speak on shit I don't have enough info for. I share and promote those who do, well when I'm not shitposting cuz I can't be serious all the time. Respectfully, we curate our own internet experience based on how we interact. Maybe that's the algorithm providing content for OP and you to see more often?
Nothing about these comments' you have told me about surprises me though, it's happened Every Election, as far back as I can remember. Because of our two-party system its almost expected that we go to or talk in extremes. That's tied to values and identity since our political parties love to promote and link their parties to moral and values. and honestly IDK why everyone is so surprised and worked up because it happens every election. Since 2004 we've had about the same 60% turn out, with a small dip to 58.6% in 2012. Tough divisive topics seem to get more voters out and more people want their vote to be heard, generally because they can't stand the other candidate. Even if every eligable citizen did vote, Trump could still win. Then what? That's why it comes down to the context and all those extra things like finances, education, demographic, area of the US ect. those things set trends for voters. We influence that we influence voting.
I can see why you want to keep these topics kinda separate. Unfortunately, everything is political and also interconnected. I can understand Why people are frustrated and wanting to throw in the towel. I don't agree with it but I understand.
Do you know a lot of our citizens aren't even registered? I was providing insight to why that could be. Ya'll seem to think what? Based on social media you know what's up? News flash theres people who never vote. There always has been. It's why education is important, it's why being involved in your community and local government is important. It's why paying attention to what happens around a election is important, as well as looking at the past. It's why talking to each other and encouraging people to go be heard, instead of ripping them a new one. (If eventually we can push for voters to go to local elections we can start taking away the political base for people like Trump. Also if we stop reelecting people over and over, oh and no lifetime appointments to the SC but those are for another time.)
The last two presidential elections had more turnout than before. This is why it's important to have context.
"Voter turnout in the United States fluctuates in national elections. In recent decades, about 60% of the voting eligible population votes during presidential election years and about 40% votes during midterm elections, with 2020 and 2018 marking the highest presidential and midterm turnout in over a century." -FairVote
Voter Turnout - FairVote
"The elections of 2018, 2020 and 2022 were three of the highest-turnout U.S. elections of their respective types in decades. About two-thirds (66%) of the voting-eligible population turned out for the 2020 presidential election – the highest rate for any national election since 1900. The 2018 election (49% turnout) had the highest rate for a midterm since 1914. Even the 2022 election’s turnout, with a slightly lower rate of 46%, exceeded that of all midterm elections since 1970." - Pew Research Center
Voter turnout in US elections, 2018-2022 | Pew Research Center
This second Article goes into depth about how and why people vote, education is a top factor, wealth is a top factor. Americans aren't known to be consistent voters in general, or we decide to pick and chose at which level we vote. BUT that doesn't negate what I said on OP's post.
You know my anon red state friend, we had two major divisive elections in 2016 and 2020, yet we had record turnout, we hadn't seen anything like it since about 1900s. Based strictly on the numbers? I predict about the same for this year. Now I can be wrong, and I will be the first to recognize it if this is the case with this election. Stay with me for a second.
Now lets look at that 40%, no one can possibly believe 40% of Americans just don't care and won't vote or add in a candidate. That number is the total who didn't vote, there are MANY factors to why people don't or can't vote. so a percentage of that 40% of Americans just say fuck you, but not EVERYONE in the 40% THATS WHY I GAVE CONTEXT ON OP'S POST, let me be generous and say half of that 40% are people who do that BS, CONDEMNING ALL AMERICANS FOR SUCH AN ABYSMAL NUMBER IS WRONG. I stand by that Anon.
It took me two minutes to do some research to share with you all. Anyone can look it up.
We DONT have mandatory voting or a national holiday to free up citizens to vote. The government actively works to make it harder. Many of us are paycheck to paycheck and have been for generations. So taking off work is virtually impossible. Most voting centers are open for normal business hours or just a little more than that.
We all got blamed for Trump yet Hilary won the popular vote.
If the Electoral College can completely change the winner of the election and go against the popular vote of the people, how can OP or anyone else really point the finger at everyday citizens? I'm genuinely curious. Enlighten me. Because change in law and or government organization in this country is slow going. Getting politicians with modern nonreligious ideas and policies is hard. Politicians who won't be bought is even rarer. Good luck getting rid of the electoral college, it'll be a hellva fight. It's slow going but we are going. Hell we've never changed the bulk of our constitution only really amending it, when France has had 14 constitutions.
At the end of the day my point? Shit is complex and people painting it in ultimatums is shitty. Americans actually have very little control, less than we realize, has been happening since 9/11 at an alarming rate. If this election gets declared as fraudulent, they could put whomever they want in the WH anyways.
Picking and choosing what plays into American voting and politics gives the wrong impression. Context is everything and we all know it. It's like getting a text that says "We need to talk" without context that can be a paralyzing statement. "We need to talk about our schedule next month" is completely different with just 5 words.
Honestly anon I probably would've scrolled on OP's post but the absolute? Oh I hate those.
Again I don't mind discussing these topics, and anon if you see this and wanna send another one I'm open to continuing the dialog, with anyone else too!

i went to two house parties today and uhh only in the last one is where i actually talked about politics and the guy DID NOT like that. i feel bad for making a few folks in the room feel uncomfortable (to the point where they physically moved away) but i can’t help it!!!!! i truly think what hes saying is bullshit and he might actually be committing fraud i think i should report it?? but ive always used the unspoken rule of not reporting things and like not blowing things out of proportion.
it started because idk why he popped into our circle where we were discussing DATING and ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS to ask if we were going to vote in the elections on Tuesday. A few wanted to talk about the billions of props that are being proposed on  the ballot this year but the guy ended up talking about affirmative action. the thing is that its a us supreme court decision, also he is canadian and whole heartedly identifies as chinese and when asked if hes register to vote in this state he said they dont check that. and i was annoyed with that but i got angry and just asked him point blank questions about  why its so important for him to participate in OUR election that DOESNT effect him in the slightest (not mention what he is saying is ILLEGAL and a point of tension in our current political climate). he says he has “brothers and sisters” in the US and he will make sure they get rid of race based admissions for colleges.
he tried to tell us facts but people  started looking  up their phones and says hes wrong and hes like no trust me. its there and everyone’s like ...literally google says no... but he was so insistent. i was quite annoyed and was just like you think race is the biggest deciding factor in school adminissions?? and pointed out  how long our applications are -- gpa, test scores, essays, extracurriculars, etc and also admission officers are looking at it wholistically and they are creating a culture too so it makes sense. esp since these are private entities so they can technically do whatever. but  anyways i said that the application process is already a lot that race wouldn’t be placed high on the list and he just left. like he just left the group and hung out with another group of people.  and everyone was like SHRUG. the other ppl returned to the group and we just talked about something  else.
i felt like i made a good point and it really punched the hole into his arguments but it did not sit right with me that he’s trying to illegally vote... theres a 50/50 chance he can be turned away or he can get away with it because of how he looks and maybe acts. election officials are nice and want to make sure everyone can vote. he’s abusing this system or at least what he’s proposing and alluding to is abusing the system and i hate him for that. for a stupid reason also. i dont feel as hot headed about politics anymore. i think im just really tired and i think theres so much at play on how tech and the circles you  run in shapes  your politics.
the first house party i went to, my roommate briefed me on the fact that these people are wealthy and they have another idea about politics. i didn’t say much of anything while with them and just let them chatter away on what they think. i dont think i really want to know what they think about anything at all and it’s like they live in a completely different reality so they can’t hold the same perspectives i hold so i’ve just backed off from that.
i’ve been taking that route for the most part. this is the first time i really confronted the guy and said what i needed to say. i think i won because he just abruptly left. i think i made a good point and he refuse to acknowledge it. i also dont like him -- like i absolutely will not associate with him ever again. which is probably why i stopped asking and talking about politics now. i think in this city, everyone is wealthly and wants to be wealthy and wanted to take advantage of it when they can. i think its a lot of fluff and most are full of shit. pride and pro abortions and all but they are all veryy rich and have very privileged backgrounds and i hardly think they participate nor think about how the city at large functions which is why i dont want to talk to them about it and i really dont want to know too much because i will always have a sour taste with them.

Idk I don't think miss americana or lover era whole plot was about politics, it's the first album she owned and she got away from bmr and standing on her own and she wanted do own up to things she couldn't do was held back from because of her previous image and the constraints of the industry especially with country artists and girls not being spoken about issues, so miss americana the doc was about lover era as a whole and when creating the album and releasing it it was all at the time of the election and that influenced a lot of stuff for her because she knows people thought she was republican and she wanted to declare it no I've always been democrat and that's why that stuff is in the doc because the doc is her journey to creating lover and coming back in the public eye after rep, and I do think it is taken out of context her saying she wants to speak up because in one post I've seen circling Tumblr that part is highlighted but the next part isn't which was I want to speak up and do everything I can for the election and find ways to be effective and yeah she got people to register (hopefully meaning they've gone through that step so will continue to vote) but the candidate she endorsed didn't win and the equality act they're not doing anything about it yet in the supreme court like these idk if she sees them as setbacks or what, but I do think if you look into the context of when she wanted to speak up about politics she never once said or implied that she was going to do it all the time, or even that she wanted to be more of an activist, and this is coming from someone who wants her to speak up about stuff because some things especially would change if I want to engage with her as a fan, and also I do think with roe v wade the most the public or a public figure can do is vote because if you think about it these are stuff that's been in motion away from the public eye who knows what else is in motion and we don't know about, sorry for this long post I'm not someone who will defend her when I know she's done wrong but I do think that people saying she put this expectation on herself is wrong because I don't think in the context of what she said about politics did she imply that she'd speak out on all issues (including issues affecting her)
anon ty for sending this it makes so much sense!! i agree with everything you said! at secret sessions she did talk abt how long she has been waiting to create songs abt important issues (the man and yntcd) and posting abt important issues on social media cause she was never allowed to and had to keep this good girl quiet image. so i’m so proud of her for finally getting out of that horrible bubble with big machine records and was happy to finally create these songs and to release the documentary. and yes the lover era was not just abt politics and it was abt her being able to own her music finally!!! and ur 100% right she didn’t say she would speak up all the time but it’s been so long since she has that’s why i’m confused. i love her so much and i’m incredibly proud of the things she’s done after her contract ended with bmr!!! i just hope she doesn’t stop entirely speaking up in things she’s believes in. and i’m proud that she stood up to the world saying she’s not a republican because i remember people thought she was. i also understand there is a lot of pressure to speak up when you have a huge platform.

Emmet and Jasper in: Food Shopping for Bella
Jasper: Ok Emmett, we're here, we have a goal, did you ask Bella what she needed?
Emmett: Was I... supposed to?
Jasper: Emmett, that was your one s i n g l e job, asking the human what she needed to eat
---
Emmett: Ok so... like meat, right? I used to eat that shit a ton as a human. They dont sell deer, thats stupid, guess we'll go with chicken.
Jasper: Em, she doesnt need 8 packs of chicken.
Emmett: Bro have you seen chickens, theyre so small, I could put an entire chicken in my mouth. Y'know what, I've seen a chicken near home. When we get home im showing you that I can put an entire chicken in my mouth-
Jasper: Emmett please god stop, I don't doubt you can fit a chicken in your mouth, people are staring.
---
Jasper: Ok, Edward said Bella likes salad. Do you know anything about salad.
Emmett: Do I LOOK like I have ever eaten a salad Jaz.
Jasper: Yeah fair honestly I dont even know why I asked.
---
Emmett: Ok, we have a bunch of leaves, we have... vegetables of some description. What else did Eddie say she liked?
Jasper: Something about mushrooms, like a pasta, he said they had it in a resteraunt in Port Angeles. Lets go to the pasta section then.
Emmett: I am not entirely positive what a pasta is but when I find out, hooooo boy.
---
Jasper: Ok so I'm not seeing any mushroom flavoured pasta, Em what do we do thats like... the only thing I can think of that it could be.
Emmett: *looking at a box with a triumphant look* Well, queue the hoooo boy because Jaz, I have found what we have been searching for.
Jasper: Wait, you did? What is it?
Emmett: *holding up box for Jasper to see* It says right here "mushroom shaped pasta" thats like, the same thing right?
Jasper: You are an absolute genuis.
---
Emmett: OK, chicken?
Jasper: Check.
Emmett: Mushroom shapes?
Jasper: Check.
Emmett: Leaves?
Jasper: Check.
Emmett: Thats all I can think of, humans just need water and sun then they'll get big and strong, right?
Jasper: Em, thats a plant, youre thinking of photosynthesis. Humans need food and sleep and warmth and happiness and stuff.
Emmett: Ok, I vote that I just improvise a bit and see what happens. Whats the biggest potential issue?
Jasper: Fair honestly, go wild I'll meet you at the register.
---
---
BONUS:
Emmett: Cullens, we have been hunting and we have RETURNED
Jasper: We did great, obviously
Alice, to Edward: Spoiler Alert; they didn't do great
Emmett: Hush Alice, let me show our bounty. Mortal, come to us.
Bella: *wearily walking over* uh.. sure
Alice, mouthing to Bella: Be nice, they did their best.
Jasper: Firstly, we have, drumroll please... chicken.
Bella: Mmm
Jasper: And chicken
Bella: Oh
Jasper: And chicken
Bella: ..
Jasper: And chicken, and some more chicken, and finally, a bit more chicken.
Bella: Ok, awesome, thanks.
Emmett: Please Bella, save your praise for when we're finished.
Bella: Y'know what, sure Emmett, please show me what else you have there, I would personally love to see it.
Emmet: Of course you would. Next up we have... salad!
Bella: Em, that just lea-
Emmett: Bella please, I know youre insanely greatful but as I said, save the praise for once we're finished. I will only accept drumrolling at appropriate intervals. Jasper, next item please.
Jasper: We have mushroom pasta
Edward: Oh, thats actually a good one. Wait, Jasper, what is this?
Jasper: Its mushroom pasta..? Duh
Edward: Did you hear me talking about the thing from Port Angeles?
Jasper: Mhm, we thought we'd suprise her with her favourite.
Edward: Jasper, it's called mushroom ravioli, and she's only ever eaten it once, and I'm like 90% sure it was sub-par at best. Also, this is just mushroom SHAPED, it doesnt have any mushroom in it what-so-ever. I don't even thi-
Alice, smacking edward over the head: Jasper its great, lets just move on to the next thing.
Emmett: Ok, speedround, you ready?
Bella: Absolutely not
Emmett: Cool, 1. Frozen corn 2. thin potatoes in a very large bag 3. An entire bag of B+ blood, no you may not ask where I found it 4. Tiny edible pillow things. 5. Finally... Tampons, idk it felt like a good idea.
Bella: Honestly thank you
Emmett: Also I need to show you something with a chicken I found, wanna see
Bella: Absolutely

wah wah uni/modern AU headcanons/word vomit underneath bc i’m bored
sfw stuff for once; probably a lot of projecting my uni experience on to characters lmao, a sprinkle of slander (a whole serving for naoya)
gojo, geto, nanami, haibara, naoya under the cut
gojo
double majoring in physics + mathematics. survives off of sugar/sweets to get him through all nighters. lives in the physics department building.
comes off as the kinda student who ALWAYS has to have something going on because they don’t want to be alone in their thoughts.
TAs for introductory courses and is the worst kind of TA; not that he’s an ass or anything. he’s really into the topic and that’s great! but explains things like “so you go like this, and like zoom here? but also there’s a whoosh that kinda changes things.” like sir? i just asked what newton’s third law was.
will try to haze underclassmen into doing stupid things. (jumping in a nearby lake, running naked across the football field, stuff like that)
still a pretty good student; does make some dumb decisions (has definitely taken an exam high on some type of illicit drug just to see what happens)
heckles conspiracy theorists/animal rights activists when they’re on campus.
steals plates/utensils from campus dining, has amassed a giant pile of utensils by the end of the year.
bonus text message bc i felt like it:
Tumblr media
geto
philosophy major + animal bio/zoology major(? or minor)
not related to his major but he also comes off as the type that would read horror fiction in his spare time (idk lovecraftian fiction in particular feels like it would ring with him)
is an RA. he didn’t want to live off campus because it’s too expensive but didn’t want to have roommates in a campus dorm either. best of both worlds.
when introducing himself to his floor/residents during the first meeting, he just makes up random lies about campus/university. (the bathroom in room 323? haunted. don’t eat the cafeteria pasta; you’ll have terrible shits. intro math is the EASIEST class ever! (he almost failed intro math in his first quarter.)) aka just causes problems on purpose just to see what happens.
stellar student and (generally) all around swell guy; is always the first one to speak up if you’re assigned in a group project and takes the lead. very charismatic (in a good way!)
has a well-organized planner/google calendar. if you make plans w/ him he says shit like “ok, so i’ll pen you in for 2pm on thursday?”
if you get into an argument w/ him he’ll probably point out that something you said is technically a logical fallacy and then goes off on a tangent about said fallacy.
when approached by petitioners on campus, lies to them that he’s not local to the area, or that he’s not registered to vote.
starts small talk w/ you not out of romantic or even platonic interest, but because he wants you to join his student club
nanami
business/econ major. but he’s cool! responsible! and ~not like other business majors~ (aka he’s nice and not a drunken asshat)
doesn’t do much outside of school; holes himself in his room to study or occasionally goes to a library/cafe on campus for a change of pace.
turns in assignments days before the deadline. never does anything last minute if he can help it.
wears a leather messenger bag. has been mistaken for the professor on a couple of occasions.
lives on caffeine; his 32 oz hydroflask? yea that’s filled to the brim w/ coffee.
part of model UN
has a lot of spare time since he doesn’t work or do many extracurricular activities; main hobby is reading, and occasionally baking.
if he has a class in a large lecture hall he puts his bag on the seat next to him and says he’s saving it for someone if anybody asks. he is indeed, not saving that spot for anyone and just doesn’t want people sitting next to him.
haibara
pre-med or veterinary science major.
plays ultimate frisbee on the school lawn.
if you sit next to him on the first day of class, he’ll make small talk + ask you for your number so that you two can study together for the rest of the quarter. (in a platonic way, not necessarily romantic!)
type of person that likes to draw on the whiteboard outside of their dorm door as the seasons change; things like “good luck on finals!”, “happy holidays!” w/ smiley faces and cute doodles
is part of a cooking club on campus; likes to bring whatever he makes to nanami. (also bc he’s worried nanami isn’t taking care of himself; who the hell drinks 32oz.+ of coffee everyday?)
keeps a hamster in his dorm even thought he’s not supposed to; has to hide the hamster cage/supplies ahead of time for room inspections.
has accidentally fucked up a lab once and had to use the emergency lab shower.
naoya
compsci techbro. like the worst kind of techbro you’ll ever find. elon musk worshipper and crypto enthusiast.
has a stacked resume w/ internships and whatnot bc his family has connections. legacy kid.
pays people to do his homework.
subscribes to rise and grind mentality, believes in alpha male ideology
is always dripped out in luxury/designer brand outfits.
if you ever ask him for help w/ something he’d either say “figure it out yourself” or repeat the spec word for word to you as if he actually did something.
thinks weed ~elevates his state of mind.~ it doesn’t.

Dream said he never voted for Trump and isn't republican, but didn't that reddit account in question say they didn't register to vote because they didn't want to get doxxed? Also, betting on Trump's tweets doesn't prove his stance on real issues either? It actually makes light of what trump was doing. It feels idk that his statements do not prove much of anything. Has anything new come out? The accounts I was looking at either stopped talking about it or went private
Oh, so we’re discussing whether or not we think he’s lying, now? Frankly, the main reason I am inclined not to believe him is the fact that he’s using the same strategy he did during the cheating scandal - first, putting out vague tweets that outright deny any involvement or truth to the accusations on his private; second, putting out a more thought-out thread soon thereafter that appeals to his audience and the victimhood argument; and third, putting out a longer response that comes up with a seemingly plausible explanation for everything, without actually, explicitly deny the accusations.
First, he outright denied the accusations at first. He said it wasn’t him, he denied that the Reddit account was even in his ownership, and then flipped the narrative when evidence came up that makes it seem like yes, it was his, or at least partially his. That is just... very untrustworthy, imo.
Second, and I know this is circumstantial and disputable, but the Redditor’s writing style screams Dream. He writes like that in his many Twitter threads, twitlongers; he even speaks like that in his serious streams and videos. I’m sure someone on Reddit or kiwifarms or the like will come up with a better analysis of the parallels in writing style, but anyone who was a fan of his - as I was - cannot deny the similarities, right?
Third, he immediately started deleting posts from the Discord he was in that was mentioned in the slideshow. Please tell me how an innocent person’s immediate reaction, before even posting a reply on your private, is to start deleting all your publicly available posts from the same time frame as the accused Reddit posts? What? He did this immediately after- like, within half an hour of the slideshow being posted to Reddit, for fuck’s sake.
Fourth, and most importantly, let’s dissect the absurdity of what exactly he is claiming. He is saying that he shared a Reddit account in 2017 with an irl work friend, and that none of the political posts besides perhaps the kneeling for the anthem one were his, and that even if they were posted by his friend, they were likely troll posts. I just... what? How in the world does anyone believe this? That is the furthest reach I have ever seen someone claim in a public “apology.” First, who shares Reddit accounts when they post personal things, like pictures of your cat and political ramblings? What in the world? Would you really share that kind of account just to play in a fake football league? Why wouldn’t his friend create his own, separate account, for his political ramblings? Second, the post to r/politics describes Dream’s biographical information perfectly. So tell me, why post just that one post to r/politics, but then supposedly not post other posts to other, relevant political subreddits? Third, he lies about the Kaepernick timeline in the damn pastebin “apology,” making it so suspicious as to why he would try to distance himself as much as possible, timewise, to the rest of the posts that were made within the same time period.
These are just the reasons I see for why I distrust Dream on this. And for people to claim that he has changed for the better and that his political views have become more progressive seems disingenous when we’re talking about someone who cannot admit the truth, and reconcile with his past political beliefs. Like, how can we believe that he changed, if he can’t even fess up to the past? I don’t know about y’all, but every single person I know who has been able to change their political views, through education and empathy - including myself - acknowledges and constantly brings up their past, because of the shame and disgust they feel for that past. The few people I know who do not acknowledge that they used to be bigoted or lean right or support Republican policies are the people who, to this day, simply convince themselves of their left-leaningness, while still peddling in whatever backwards beliefs they claim to have learned from and moved past.
Here are more compelling reasons and evidence as to why he is likely lying about sharing the account: https://twitter.com/jessislive_/status/1379958002501963778
Trigger warning for the above thread’s posts for typical right-leaning views that deal with racism and sexual assault victims (dismissing them).

voting rights: ok this mostly us-centric, but i’ll be referencing several other countries’ policies. obviously voting rights in the us are kind of a hot mess. from voter suppression to gerrymandering to the actual counting system to felons’ lack of rights. so here’s a couple priorities, not in any particular order: 1) popular vote national elections. none of this electoral college bullshit. the idea that a state is a fundamental unit that needs rights in a national election is bullshit. it drowns out minorities in each state (california conservatives, wyoming democrats, etc). 2) limits of voter purges. this one is kinda obvious, but states use really fucked mechanisms for voter roll purges as a form of voter suppression. 3) automatic voter registration + same day voting registration. the fact is that the system is designed to be as inconvenient as possible on purpose. we need to make it way easier to register + vote 4) some sort of geographic / population requirement for polls + ballot dropboxes. again, one i haven’t fully hammered out in my head, but we need to actually put numbers into the law wrt to how much time and effort a state can legally make a voter put in to vote. 5) universal mail in voting w/ the deadline according to the date of post-marking, not the date of arrival. this is obvious. for people in rural areas, disabled people, people who are simply too busy. 6) make election day a national holiday + make it a saturday + make it illegal for employers to give any less than 6 hours off. most laws are state based, and some don’t even have laws forcing employers to give any time off. obviously, this affects the working class the most. frankly, one of the most common reasons cited for not voting is that people were simply too busy. 7) ranked voting. this is the one where you rank n candidates from 1st choice to nth choice. it would stop people from strategically voting one of the 2 parties’ candidates because independents can’t break through. would also probably decrease polarization, and takes into account the people you really don’t want in power. another option is ranking each candidate from 1-5 or smth. 8) independent districting. a few states have this, but it needs to be national policy for independent committees w/ equal republicans, equal democrats, and equal independents. here’s an example of what some states do. in many states, the politicians currently in power draw the redistricting map for the next election. gerrymander away i guess. an interesting tidbit: iirc HR1 proposes this + has some actual numbers like “if a candidate can win with x% of the vote or less your districting isn’t allowed” and those could have real power. 9) dc statehood + puerto rico statehood + some form of congressional representation for all the us territiories.
parenting culture: ok so i have lots of opinions on this like i know i’ve never been a parent obv, but i’ve been doing tutoring and daycare work for kids ranged 6 from 8th grade to high schoolers more recently. first of all, grounding is like such a fucked concept in general, especially as a punishment for bad grades. like it makes total sense to be like “hey you gotta time block x hours for homework, put ur phone away during hw, and check in with us every day until shit gets back on track” or something like that. but i’ve seen parents (not often luckily) be like “you’re grounded so you can’t go out with friends, do fun extracurriculars, or have the internet or read books for fun (<- that last one is less common but my parents did it 💀)” which in general is like wtf. that’s basically an exhaustive list of all the things a kid uses for relaxation. taking all of that away and only allowing a kid to do work is the fastest recipe for a kid that’s burnt out, unable to focus, and frustrated. you need to link the consequences to the problem, and the consequences should also be remedial in some form. that often does mean added supervision, but some of this is just like detrimental and damaging. also, if schoolwork, if scheduled and time managed properly, is taking so much time a kid has no time for fun, there’s a bigger problem that’s either a) the school is teaching your kid poorly / assigning too much work or b) your kid genuinely needs extra help and accommodations in the classroom. outside of more supervision during hw time, there’s no reason to like ban socialization + activities, all of which are essential to a child’s growth and mental health. your child needs to unwind after a school day and homework, which might i remind you, is a lot of work for children!!! also, this is kind of a pet peeve, but the entire you can’t have the opposite sex in ur room with the door closed is just so funny like it doesn’t even inspire rage in me just mocking laughter wow the heteronormativity really jumped out lol. also, this is kind of weird again, but you should probably have a conversation with your children about religion + religious freedom at some point, especially if they grow up in a household that practices religion actively. like at some point if your child is like “i don’t want to go to church / the kovil / other religious house of worship” or expresses desire to drop other religious practices like prayer, or fasting, or something of the like, you should let them. like i am a very big believer in children’s religious freedom lol. uhhh finally this one is more geared towards parenting culture around teenagers + high schoolers, but i generally feel like the correlation of grades with how “good” your child is is really fucked. like i’m sorry if you raised a kind, polite, honest child and you made them think they were “a bad kid” or deserved to be punished for bad grades get out. like obv encourage academic growth if your child is into that, but don’t punish a lack of academic success. a few positive things tho: you should teach your child how to do chores and also cook food. like when hammering out a chores schedule, i’d suggest allowing them some freedom in what time of day they do the chores, but they’re life skills that need to be taught, even if kids complain (i certainly did). another strange one: uhhh immigrant parents from outside the anglosphere please take care to pass on your mother tongue to your child. like this is one of those things where it’s better to teach them now than later. growing up bilingual is a lot easier than relearning a mother tongue. speak your mother tongue at home. if you’re worried about your child learning english properly for school, most public schools have language remedial courses or something of the like. also your cuisine if possible. a final one: your high schooler is probably stressed the fuck out. studies show that the increasing amount of homework, the increased competitiveness of college, and the fact that the school start time is way too early for teens’ sleep schedules. like we know there are pervasive mental health and depression problems linked directly to how much work and stress high schoolers have to deal with, which leads to poorer sleeping habits, poorer mental health, and increased substance use as a coping mechanism. before you add more stress to their lives by “pushing” them towards more competitive colleges, maybe take this into consideration. also maybe consider if this is why you feel like your kid went through the stereotypical teenage phase. was it hormones making them cranky or was it sleep depression and stress? just try to avoid adding pressure onto them, especially in junior year and the first half of senior year. finally, there’s no need to make your teenage daughter shave. period. also, liberal families please maybe check yourselves on this one. maybe think about why you pressure your daughters to shave your legs but not your sons, and then go on to talk about gender equality. stop pretending it’s “a part of hygiene” or “basic grooming and self care”.
cereal brands: ok this is the most light hearted one 😊. ranked in order of acceptably health to wtf, i like a few cereal brands, specifically raisin bran (unpopular opinion i know 🙄), honey bunches of oats, and if i feel like a treat, cinnamon crunch toast :)

You need an ID to get a hotel room, purchase alcohol, drive a car, get a mortgage, open a bank account, get on an airplane… but somehow needing an ID to vote is racist? Isn’t it racist to assume that those of us who are POC are too poor and stupid to figure out how to get an ID? That’s what you’re saying. I agree with Ashlee on this one. Sorry not sorry. Hate to burst your bubble but us POC’s are capable of getting our own ID. We know where the DMV is. Thanks for confirming you’re a racist though.
Let me guess you think our ideal meal is fried chicken and watermelon too 🙄
How dare Ashlee think that BIPOC’s re capable of getting their own form of identification 🙄
So you think that BIPOC are too incompetent to get their own form of identification? I’ve seen plenty in hotels and on airplanes so idk why you think they can’t find out how to get to the DMV. Plus, states where you need an ID to vote, like Georgia, give them out for free. I’m sorry but that was a really bad take on your part. You just look so ignorant it’s unreal.
You also seemed to have a huge problem with Paige dating a black guy so sadly it’s not surprising you think us POC needing an ID to vote is racist. SMH. This is why I hate the “woke”.
I like. genuinely don't know how to respond to this. but I do hope you got as assblasted in the inboxes of the other people who posted/reblogged that screenshot as you did in mine.
anyway. here's an article that talks about the potential impact of georgia's voter id law. to pull out some important info, it says that 56% of the voters who lack an ID in georgia are black, and over half of that 56% live in metro areas that lean heavily democrat. one of the big criticisms of the bill is that this new ID requirement will make it harder to vote by mail and is aimed at reducing a level of fraud that simply doesn't exist. despite what the lunatics at fox news would have you and ashlee believe, the 2020 election was not stolen, and these bills are being passed in a direct attempt to make it harder for people to vote, especially for people who are likely to vote democrat, and those people tend to be black/brown and live in metro areas. it's not about fully stripping away the right to vote, but about making it harder so that people get discouraged from voting. voter id laws would be less controversial if they 1) weren't such a blatant response by republicans to the possibility of losing power (it's not like georgia is being targeted after the democratic victories over two republican incumbents in the senate run-off elections) and 2) provided for everybody to be immediately registered and issued some kind of id as soon as they turned 18. the article does point out, as you said, that free voter IDs will be available through county election offices and the department of driver services. that's a good thing. I won't criticize that part. but I will criticize the thrust of these laws, which is meant to make it an absolute assache to vote because low voter turnout typically benefits republicans.
also ashlee is arguing in bad faith from the start because she thinks covid is hoax and the vaccine will make you bill gates's magnetic slave and it has the blood of trafficked babies from the basement of the comet pingpong pizza as the main ingredient. so she can go fuck herself, and so can you if you seriously think she gives two shits about politics beyond whatever sewage spews from the mouth of q.
also also I didn't have a problem with paige dating a black guy. I said paige dating a black guy doesn't mean she's never been racist or that her family isn't racist. I wish paige and her boyfriend nothing but happiness.
also also also you could just like.......block me if you find me so horrifically offensive. we have the technology.

Survey #479
“war sends our sons to slaughter  /  another failed attack; there is no turning back”
Have you ever boycotted something? Yes: Chick-fil-A. Homophobic, transphobic pieces of shit. Has anyone ever borrowed something from you, and not returned it? Yes, a video game when I was little. I was so mad, lol. Do you vent a lot on social media? No. I don't want people to get annoyed with me. What was your first bill you started paying on your own? I haven't been responsible for any bills yet. What is your favorite charitable cause to donate to or volunteer for? I can't/don't do either really, but if I could, I'd probably donate to uhhhh... suicide prevention organizations. As for volunteering, definitely something with animals. Have you ever dated someone who wasn’t at all your usual type? No. What is something you have no patience for? Waiting at the doctor's office. Have you ever received a misdiagnosis? Yes. What’s that you’re listening to? I'm watching Gab play The Evil Within 2. What kind of relationship do you have with the last person you kissed? We're a couple. What is your biggest accomplishment in life? Still being alive. What is one thing that you really wish you could understand, but don’t? Political stuff. Economics. Have you ever been tutored or tutored someone yourself? I had an Algebra tutor the last time I was in college, and I had to strangle an anxiety attack down because I wasn't understanding the material AT ALL and felt so dumb and annoying. I never did it again. What was the last thing you said out loud (singing doesn’t count)? "It's really embarrassing," to Mom. It really is fucking humiliating that my ankles are swollen from walking/standing more and pushing my desk chair back against the resistance of the carpet. That's pathetic. I'm trying to focus on the fact it's good my body is even reacting to moving more, though. Is everything you have on actually yours? Yep. Do you ever just randomly drive around when you’re upset about something? I don't drive, but if I did, that would NOT be my method of de-stressing. What was the last act of creativity you displayed? Writing an RP post. What’s your favorite department in Wal-Mart? Uh, I guess where you can go see the plants and flowers. Do you find kite flying boring? I LOVED it as a kid. I'd still probably find it kinda fun. Do you have any interest in visiting Japan? Yes, but it's not a massive interest. I've heard the humidity can kill a bitch, and I am NOT into that. Have you ever run a cash register? Yes. I sucked. Have you ever worked as a server? No. Have you ever done the Bratz challenge on YouTube? No, but I saw James Charles do it and it was v unnerving, holy shit. Would you rather paint or carve a pumpkin? Carve. What was your worst experience in high school? My depression as a whole. How much did your senior prom dress cost you? I don't remember. Have you ever been in a serious romantic relationship? Three, if you include my current one. Which part of your body is the most muscular? Uh, nothing? What is the first site you check when you get online, generally? KM. Are you good at creative writing assignments? That's my forte. In elementary school, I actually won a I think county-wide creative writing short story assignment. Not to brag, but I've always been very proud of that, ha ha. Or would you rather just do an informative essay? That's easy for me too, but I prefer writing creatively. Are you more attracted to the badasses, or the goody-goody types? Definitely the goody-goodies. The "bad guys" have never appealed to me romantically. Do you raise your hand or participate in class? I did if I really wanted to ask something or was confident in an answer. What is something BIG you want to do with your life? Make a difference, somehow. What do you think of people who own wild animals? Do NOT just casually take in animals from the wild. That's selfish and just generally disgusting. If you're going to keep an animal generally described as wild and undomesticated, you'd better have a license and deserve that license. Know what you're doing and be certain that keeping the animal in captivity is in the animal's best interest for its unique case. Are you good at explaining things, in general? NOOOOOOOOO, I suck at that. Do you like visiting the mall? Why or why not? Not our mall, no. Its stores suck/are extremely limited, and SO much crime has happened there. Do you like window shopping? Why or why not? YESSSSSSS, mostly on Morph Market, a mostly reptile selling hub online. You can browse TONS of breeders and literally thousands of reptiles, especially ball pythons. They even have a tarantula section I like to look at sometimes. If you lost your job/home/etc., who would likely help you? If I'm losing my home, I'm assuming my mom is gone, so my dad. Why did you first kiss the last person you kissed? We were a couple and I felt like I was supposed to. At that time I didn't see him romantically, but I desperately wanted to. Funny how we're back together and I've no reservations against kissing him now. Feelings change, for sure. Plans for tonight? Girt and I will probably play some WoW Classic together. We've started playing that together, and it's lots of fun with him. :') Has anyone seen you kiss the last person you kissed? Actually, no. Have you ever been kissed in a car? Yeah. Do you think anyone has feelings for you? I know Girt does. Is there anyone in your life that knows right away something’s wrong with you? My mom. Who last made you smile? Girt, 'cuz he's a sweetheart. Where is your mother? She's in bed in her room. She feels like shit. Like, you would think she WASN'T vaccinated, though her long-time doctor has said she'd probably be dead without it while having Covid. Would you rather look at clouds or stars? Stars. Think about your biggest mistake, would you go back and change it? I absolutely would. Are you dating the person you last kissed? Yeup. What is the most immature item you own and actually use? Um. Idk. Do you always take a shower after you have sex? I... didn't know people did this? Like I know women are advised to pee after sex, but full-on showering? No. Do you like chocolate popsicles? Oh hell yeah. Are your parents proud of you? They claim to be. I don't see how. Are you interested in the ocean? Yeah; it's inarguably so fascinating. Hot dogs or hamburgers? I prefer burgers. Have you ever been to a Chinatown in any of the cities you’ve been to? No. Have you ever been to couple’s counseling? No. Do you have any dietary restrictions? No. Have you ever turned down a job offer? No. What’s the largest animal you’ve ever had as a pet? A dog named Cali that was a boxer mix. Do you ever pray, even if you don't believe in God? What exactly is the point if you don't believe in God...? Anyway, I don't. Have you ever been to Mexico? No. Have you ever gotten stuck in quicksand before? No. What's the shortest or longest length you've ever had your hair grow? To around the small of my back. The last nest you saw - was it a bird nest or a hornet's nest? I think a bird's? Do you enjoy Jeff Dunham? I don't know if I'd like him as a person, but I do think he's a funny comedian. Who is your favorite character from Frozen? I was never into the movies. I do think Elsa is kinda cool (no pun intended, lol), though. I like that she has her flaws. Did you finish high school? If not, do you plan on doing so? I did. Have you been in a simulator that mimicked a submarine or rollercoaster? A rollercoaster, yes. How often do you go out to eat instead of cooking for yourself? Mom and I try to avoid fast food for our health. We do a pretty good job at it, but sometimes for convenience's sake, we do eat it. What is the largest family of siblings that you know of? This is probably gonna come across as very judgmental, but... it really bothers me. I don't know how many kids she has now, but one of the dance moms from the studio has SO many children; I've completely lost count. Now if you want that many kids and can provide for them, that's cool. But that's not the case. She uses the "if God wants me to have a baby, then it will happen" mentality, and I'm just like... um, no hunny. Poor choices are leading to kids you're not adequately providing for. She uses no methods of protection and literally has twins whose room is a fucking closet. Ugh it just really bothers me. What foreign languages were offered to you at school? A whole lot. Only Spanish and I believe French were offered as in-school courses, but there were lots of online classes. If you were required to take a course right now, what would you choose? Photography. Team Biden or Team Trump? Over my dead body would I have voted for Trump. My vote went with Biden. What is an animal native to your country that may not exist in others? Bison are factually exclusive to North America. Note that bison and buffalo are different. What are some of your favorite autumn activities? Taking pictures of fall scenery. <3 What are some of your favorite winter activities? Going out in the snow. :') Especially with a camera. Do you eat a shit-ton the week before your period? uuugggghhHHHHHH yes Wendy's, McDonalds, or Burger King? Wendy's. What's the weirdest question you've ever asked Alexa? I've never asked Alexa anything. Do you prefer your apple cider to be warm or cold? I've actually never had it. Do you prefer your coffee hot or iced? Y'all know the story of me and coffee. Can you sing the alphabet backwards? I can't. Have you ever sent flowers or chocolates to yourself before? Ha ha, no. Is there any meat that you won't eat? Yeah, fish and ANYTHING that comes from a wild animal. Does your cat use anything other than it's scratching post as a scratcher? When we got him a scratcher WITH CATNIP, the lil butthead ignored it. -_- He scratches the carpet instead. Did you go through a vampire craze before? Are you still going through it? Nah. Have you ever forged your parents' signature on a poor test paper, etc? No. Has a bird ever pooped on you before? Omg, no. I'd die. Have you ever been sprayed by a skunk before? No. Are black jellybeans delicious or disgusting? I HATE them. Have you ever rolled down a grassy hill before? I have! I miss that.

Haven't done this in a while but I had the time so why not?
1.- Pizza Girl by Kyoung Jean Frazier
🌟🌟🌟🌟
I really did like it, reminded me a lot of "Convinience store woman". Like clearly our protagonist needed thrapy ASAP to help her deal with her dad's death, her pregnancy, her attraction to women and hell just for existing as an Asian woman in the USA, but I liked how messy and obsesive she was and how the author allowed her to be fucked up and take bad decisions, I love to see female characters simply exist, it's also a pretty short read so I definitely recommend it.
2.-The Authentics by Abdi Nazemian
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Daría is a persian teen who is really involved in her cultural background and feels that the most important thing one can be is authentic, so that's the name she and her friends take for their clique. But everything comes crashing down on her when she discovers she is adopted, and soon follows an identity crisis. I loved it so much, it felt pretty realistic, like Daría could be self absorbed and unlikeable at times, but who wasn't as a teen? And we get such beautiful heartwarming moments between Daría and her family and friends. Totally recommend it.
3.- The Mall by Megan McCafferty
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Cassie has her life completely mapped out but nothing goes quite as planned, first she gets mononucleosis and after she gets better gets dumped and fired almost simultaneously. Determined not to let it get the best of her, Cassie gets a brand new job, reconnects with an old friend and even finds a hidden treasure. This one is so much fun, all the 90s references and the growth Cassie goes through is amazing, honeslty i would love to see this as a Netflix movie.
4.- Luster by Raven Leilani
🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book was hard, Edie is a very raw character, at first she seems flippant even when describing disturbing facts about her past or details about her relationship with a much older man she seems to be talking about something that happened to someone else all this to cope dealing with her solitude, her trauma, her self hate. And gosh it was so intresting to see her interact with Rebecca and Akila, especially Akila as Edie finds kinship in this young girl not only cuz they are both black but because they are both lost and afraid.
5.- Lakewood by Megan Giddings
🌟🌟🌟
Lena decides to participate on a financially compensated medical experiment so her mom can get proper medical care and to lessen their debts after her Grandmother's death.
So I had many mixed feelings about this, on one hand I liked that we are adressing how sistematical racism has permited experiments on black people with no consequences at all and how it has been happening for decades, but there were certain parts of the book that I couldn't enjoy as much because they were very trippy like I get we are on Lena's mind as things are becoming muddled up because of the medications and all those mind games and the words they have her memorize and repeat but all of it took me a bit away from the story. Still I do recommend it just be aware there is quite a bit of body horror in this so if you are sqeamish better skip it.
6.-The Voting Booth - Brandy Colbert
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Marva and Duke meet on election day as she helps him find the precint he is registered on.
This is very enjoyable, the story is very straightforward, and it insists on our right and responsability to vote even if we feel our vote alone can't possibly change all the injustice we see in the world. And also the romance was cute and developed slowly as Marva and Duke are just knowing each other. Really cute and quick read.
7.- Such a fun age - Kiley Reid
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Emira works as a babysitter for the Chamberleins' . She loves her little charge Briar, although she feels preassured to seek a 'real job' by her friends and by her own economic troubles. Emira soon finds herself in the middle of a tug of war between her boss Alix who tries to befriend her, and Kelley the guy she is dating.
So much drama. This is a great example of what performative activism looks like, first Alix is completely nuts, from her obsession to be seen as this wonderful understanding girl boss activist and the down right creepy sense of entitlement to Emira's friendship and intimacy. Like it doesn't surprise me she chose to victimize herself instead of recognizing it had all been a misunderstanding. And even then she still wants to seem atractive to the man she feels victimized by. Girl no.
Kelley is the ultimate fake woke ally. Dude Robbie was wrong period, he had no business inviting people over to someone else's house no matter the color of his skin. You don't get to talk over Emira on matters of what a person of color should do or feel on certain situations. That said it was so funny when he and Alix called each other out for their fetishization of people of color and yet none of them actually gave a damn about what Emira thought/felt/percieved. They just wanted her stamp of approval so they could pat themselves in the back for being such good allies.
8.- The Life and (Medieval) times of Kit Sweetly by Jamie Pacton
🌟🌟
Kit is working as a serving wench at the Castle, medieval themed restaurant run by her uncle, though she really wants to be a Knight, not only cuz the better pay would help around the house but because she really admires Joan of Arc, problem is the Castle management doesn't allow for anyone who is not a cis male to be a knight. Kit is set on changing that.
Ok so I feel a bit lukewarm toward this. Kit in my opinion doesn't get much growth, it seems she just can do whatever and her friends have to be ok w it, her romance w her friend feels pulled out of nowhere like Jett at one point tells her he is not intrested in dating her and then he is ???, those GoT references killed me, I get it I watched the show and sometimes even enjoyed it but it's not representative of anything medieval and Kit was always talking about how much she liked the actual history of the medieval times so...
Also as much as this book was about feminism and how we should fight for equal job oportunities, it feels as though Kit only cared about medieval woman who fought physically and not on the badass medieval woman, like idk it feels as a rejection of tradicional feminity like even the girl playing the Princess is a jerk. But I did like some parts, like her decision to confront her asshole dad to help her mom and the girls training together.
9.-Cien años de soledad de Gabriel Garcia Marquez
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
10.-The Monsters of music by Rebecca F. Kenney
🌟🌟🌟
This is a gender-swaped modern retelling of the Phantom of the Opera.
It was creative to make Mel, our Phantom, a true magical creature, and the singing contest was also cool. Like don't get me wrong I did have fun reading this but it also felt pretty unpolished like most characters were teens on the contest and that kinda made me roll my eyes a bit, like unless it's the Voice Kids age ranges are quite ample on this kind of shows, also kinda clumsy the addition of the magical elements with the modern setting, Kiyo didn't make much of an impression with me even when Christine is my fave on the original book. Still if you are a Phan like me you might wanna check this one out.
11.- Anna K by Jenny Lee
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is a modern americanized ya retelling of Anna Karenina.
Not gonna lie this made me cry so much at the end. I really liked Anna and Vronski together so much, and I don't like the love at first sight trope, but here it felt so inevitable. Anna was so self contained until she met him and could truly explore being herself and they really loved each other so much. Also I liked the treatment of the side characters Kimmie and Dustin were well developed and I really enjoyed this one can't wait to get to the second book.
12.- Wonderland by Zoje Stage
🌟🌟🌟
It was ok, but I was actually a bit disappointed cuz I had such high expectations for it. Like for about half the book I was really into the atmospheric vibe the book pulls you into, but as we get the reveal it started to go down hill for me, and the ending left me feeling meh. But maybe it was just not my cup of tea.
13.-Home Before Dark by Riley Sager
🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book is so well crafted!!! I love how it goes back and forth between past and present , first it feels as if history is repeating itself, then as both narratives unfold we start to question and discovering things and the twist at the end was chillin and masterful, I truly and wholeheartedly recommend it.
14.- The Girl with the louding voice by Abi Daré
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Adunni, a teenage girl, flees from her husband to work as a maid in Lagos, though everything she has ever wanted is to study.
This broke my heart, as it reflects how people coming from rural backgrounds get taken advantage of in the City, like similar things happen here in Mexico, but also it made me glad to see Adunni fight and keep her spirit so no one could ever silence her.
15.- The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Immanuel does her very best to fit in Bethel, follow the scriptures and the Prophets words, but nothing seems to be enough to erase her mother's sin especially when the Darkwood seems to pull her in. As a plague starts to ravage Bethel, Immanuel has to face her past to save her people.
So frickin' good !!!! This story is great, mainly about the explotation of woman and young girls by people in power (in this case a church), the atmosphere is always tense, Ezra and Immanuel 's relationship is very well developed and one can really see how loyal they are to each other. A great option for horror fans.
