Pokemon x DP
This idea just won't leave me alone for some reason.
So yeah, it's been a millenia and Danny has been the ghost king for a very long time.
Probably longer since time flows inconsistently and in a nonlinear fashion in the infinite realms.
He just finished all of Pariah's Neglected paper works and messed up and he's Stressed and Dead Tired™ that he needs to relax.
He completely skim through every media entertainment he could get his ghostly hands in to, managing to finish One Piece, Detective conan, MCU, DC, Spongebob, the entire pokemon franchise (games, manga, anime, movies included), complete slew of movies of different genres, games and many, many more.
He's still stressed though…
So Vacation it is!
He had a hard time deciding where he would go before someone joked about going to another multiverse just for a vacatiin and you know what? Danny like that.
(Tucker wasn't serious obviously, he was just kidding!
"Danny! Wait—! Aaaaaan he's gone."
Sam entered the office with a bunch of ghost behind her carrying ghostly paper works and request from multiple Gods, Death Gods, and Eldritch entities.
She take one glance to the office and to tuckers sheepish expression and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Okay spill, where's Danny?"
"Funny, you see—"
After the explanation, Sam sighed.
"You do the paperworks then."
"What?!"
"You dig your own grave and your own coffin, you sleep on it."
"Excuse you! I'm not Vlad! And FYI! I sleep on my Sarcophagus!"
"Don't care, what ever.")
Danny then remembered pokedex entries:
[Phantump–the Stump pokemon]
[These Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died in the forest. Their cries sound like eerie screams.]
Just like the kind of universe he belongs to!
Ignoring Tucker's voice, he opened up a portal and immediately dive in.
(He could sense the presence of the dreadfull paperworks getting closer, better skedaddle before he got caught)
He grinned and transform himself into human before shifting his age to that of a teenager, this is gonna be fun.
___
If you tell Paul previously that he would end up travelling sinnoh again with a fresh team and a traveling companion like a certain World Champion from Pallet town does all the time, then he would have scoffed or sneer at you before insulting youe intelligence.
"GET DOWN HERE YOU MENACE!!!"
Paul screamed at the tooof his lungs towardshus travelling comoanion. The said menace just grin before—
"WAIT—STOP!!!"
The menace jumped off the fucking cliff.
Paul almost have an heart attack before his companion harmlessly lands on the ground with both of his feet.
There was a big explosion of dust and dirt that Paul had to cover his eyes. The ground gave in and he could see the dark haired teen standing on the crater unharmed.
He gawked, before sighing in resignation.
Of course, he just have to get a super human, just like a certain boy from Pallet, for a travelling companion.
"Come—on Paul! Live a little would ya? Look at me, I'm half dead yet I'm having more fun than you! Give it a try for a yourself!"
Its official, this is karma for being awful and for all the things he did and said before.

THANK U FRIENDO
Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
tons of stuff in DTE honestly. the way evolutionary stones work, esp in pokemon with split evolutions. how trainers can tell which pokemon are in which pokeballs. little subtleties in certain pokemon of the same species (jessie's seviper having a ton of distinctive scars that ash can recognize and id as hers, jessebelle's vileplume being purebred and having distinct petals and plumage from james'), the way wobbuffet work as two pokemon in one body, PIKACHU'S WHOLE BACKSTORY BEFORE JOURNEYS RUINED IT, names for groups of pokemon (wibble of wobbuffet, bubble of koffing, knot of ekans/arbok)
you can just tell, reading dte, that it was living in my head forever.
Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?
SWALLOWTAIL
swallowtail is a fixit fic i wrote about sm131 which was the lowest point of the alola league for me. jessie and james, musashi and kojiro in japanese, are two characters who were originally named after two legendary samurai who had a legendary duel. when the time came for them to finally have a serious battle with stakes in the anime, the writers chose to completely ignore the origin of their names and put absolutely NONE of it, not even the smallest reference, into the battle.
they also wrote musashi horribly out of character and then the battle itself was utter shit! i hated every second of this episode, so i made it better.
i must've read and re-read the book of five rings a million times in preparation for this fic. it was a very scary fic for me, because i have only ever written the dub version of team rocket, and they are pretty different in the sub in terms of character voice. but i did a great job and i'm proud of what i did.
this was also my first time writing a pokemon battle without my co-author ven, who literally kept me sane throughout every battle we wrote in DTE. the thought of ever writing a battle without him (i hate writing pokemon battles.) was so scary. but i did it.
this fic is nothing but a lack of my comfort zone. this fic is me diving headfirst into so many things that scared me. and it fucking ROCKS. i can't believe how much it rocks.
sadly, it did not get any attention. but i think you guys should give it a chance.
can't answer 4 because you didnt send me a fic title bestie but ilu thank you <3

Day 3 of My Pokémon Yellow Nuzlocke Challenge!
Today will be a bit shorter than others since I do the church thing and then use Sunday as a calm, lazy napping day. Still, I can see where the day gets me.
First up will be finishing up these trainers and then getting my encounter for the route.
Route 3 Encounter—Spearow/AngryBoi
Hp: 30
Attack: 18
Defense: 12
Speed: 22
Special: 13
You know, that’s not a bad Pokémon to have. Actually, in Gen 1 games, Spearow has better moves overall than the moves the Pidgey line gets. At least in the early game. And having another flying type for a while will be useful.
And now I’ve made it to the Pokémon Center just outside Mt. Moon. Here I have a conundrum. You see, inside the Pokémon Center is a man who offers to sell you a Magikarp. I did state that Pokémon offered as gifts are on the table but this isn’t a gift, I guess. Okay. No longer confused. Buyable Pokémon are off the table. Sorry Game Corner! (Not sorry.) But we may have to try something that requires an Abra that I may have to purchase from the Game Corner. However this would be just for fun though and not part of the challenge.
So…I took a few steps into Mt. Moon and what do I encounter? This freaking pest meme of a Pokémon:
Mt. Moon Encounter—Zubat/BlindBart
Lv. 9
Hp: 27
Attack: 15
Defense: 12
Speed: 15
Special: 13
Ah well, at least I have another battle fodder option, I guess? Hello, Geodude and Paras. Where were you two when I needed you? And hey! I found an HP Up item to use so that’s great. And hello Clefairy…you could’ve been a fantastic catch so I could trade you for a Mr. Mime later. Oy vey…
I’m close to running out of MtnDew Spark. Dang. Tonight really isn’t going my way so far. And I’ve got a lot, and I mean A LOT, of cave to cover. For the most part it’s just trying to get out without being too fatigued and run out of health before the end. I’ll see if I can do it. I’m already on healing run 3 and I’ve barely made it through floor 1.
Oh, Lily tried evolving but I denied it for now because she’ll learn Poison Sting next level instead of in like 2-3 more levels. While I’m in Mt. Moon, I’m going to look for a Moon Stone to evolve her further soon. Oop! I immediately found one. Perfect! Having her as a Nidoqueen so soon will make her a super useful member for quite a bit longer.
I guess I was closer to the end than I thought so I’ll just grab my Fossil and beat up Jessie&James. This time I’m grabbing the Dome Fossil. I know, I know praise Helix. (For those who don’t know, that is a reference to a Twitch Plays Pokémon run many years ago which had a very useful Omastar that was originally the other fossil I’m not taking this time.)
Dang it you Team Rocket goobers! You’re not supposed to Poison poor Stinky! It’s just trying its best to beat your Ekans up. Good thing I have a couple Antidotes. Also, let Lily Double Kick your Meowth’s teeth in; she’s so close to learning Poison Sting and then evolving. And knock it off with the Smog attacks! Zippy doesn’t need to be poisoned too…oh. Too late. Dang it, Jessie&James!
Now that that’s over, Lily has evolved and we need to heal up a bit before exiting. And now that we’ve exited, let’s grab the couple items out here and catch our Route 4 encounter!
Route 4 Encounter—Rattata/Goober
Lv. 12
Hp: 31
Attack: 21
Defense: 16
Speed: 23
Special: 11
Not really what I was hoping for, but rules are rules. At least I don’t have to really grind to get it up to a better level.
Before I turn in for the night, I’m going to take out the two Gym Trainers in preparation for beating Misty tomorrow and then receiving the Bulbasaur in Cerulean. Plenty to do tomorrow and I’ll have to start out by getting all prepped for the battles to come. Love ya’! -Emily

Team Rocket Headcanons
Headcanons for Jessie, James, Cassidy, Butch, Attila and Hun! Wanted to type something like this up for my own reference and future drawing ideas! This might be something i continually add to and update as well :)
Jessie
Miyamoto, Jessie’s mother, put Jessie in foster care when she was a year old and would visit her regularly until she went MIA looking for Mew
Jessie remembers very little about her mother
Jessie moved around to a lot of different foster homes and thus grew up around a lot of other kids and had several foster siblings. She was usually the youngest.
Jessie has always been a morning person and is usually up and about at 6am. She checks out at about 10pm and has a hard time functioning any time after that. It often interferes with her work
Despite being a bit of a troublemaker as a kid, Jessie genuinely did well in school. Those smarts didn’t really carry over into adulthood though
Jessie was very extroverted and friendly. She’d get a little too comfy with people (which some, sadly, found to be a bit overbearing).
Jessie was obsessed with the idea of marriage and dated a lot of men in her past. They unfortunately all treated her poorly or left. She gave up on love and decided to look out for herself and pursue her own dreams. However, this longing for domesticity came back when she got older.
Jessie was born in Kanto but spent her teenage years in Hoenn, trying to become a coordinator/performer. She went back to Kanto to pursue a more viable career
Jessie is not tech savvy in the slightest
Silly faces and puns are peak comedy for Jessie
Jessie, in actuality, has a gorgeous singing voice, but doesn’t ever sing for realsies in order to protect her ego
Jessie joined Team Rocket after a bump in with Cassidy (a Team Rocket grunt at the time) and recognizing the big red “R” on her uniform. It brought back very vague memories of her mother.
Jessie and Cassidy began dating when she joined Team Rocket. This was her first healthy relationship in a long time. It unfortunately became more and more toxic over time when her ego started getting bigger and she and Cassidy started becoming too competitive with one another.
While they were dating, Cassidy gave Jessie Ekans
Jessie learned a lot about her mother when she met Madame Boss during her training days. The two of them became close before Madame Boss passed away.
She has a soft spot for little kids (particularly ones she’s not trying to steal Pokémon from)
Jessie is a lightweight when it comes to drinking
Jessie loves spicy food
Jessie finds a lot of comfort in holding and petting Meowth but she’ll never admit it
Jessie is no good at budgeting whatsoever. She usually leaves money matters to James and Meowth.
She has a fondness for fashion and sewing. She’d often make a lot of her own clothes when she was younger. Now, she uses her talents for making all of their disguises.
James
James is non binary and uses he/they pronouns
Growlie was given to him by Nanny and Pop-Pop on his birthday, despite his parents’ objections
James is incredibly musically talented, and able to play a number of different instruments
James can also speak a few different languages. Not very well anymore just because he’s gone years without practice, but he’s still able to hold a conversation. Jessie is a fan of when he speaks French.
James was a very awkward kid growing up. He was great at talking to adults but had a hard time socializing with other kids
James ran away from home before he was 9 years old so he was in hiding for a little bit before he was able to legally travel alone. When he was 10 he was able to get his trainers license and stay at Pokémon Centers
He’d occasionally stop by his families’ different vacation homes to crash when he knew his parents weren’t there. He’d never stay too long.
James does not like physical touch that much (Jessie is the exception)
James mostly collects bottle caps and Pokéballs but in general he just likes finding stuff on the ground and keeping it.
Prior to joining Team Rocket, James just traveled all over the Kanto region, enjoying his freedom. He mostly indulged in his different hobbies, Pokéringer Competitions being one of them.
James befriended a lot of Pokémon while he was traveling, but he’d never catch them. He never felt the need to until he joined Team Rocket. The Pokémon he befriended would often follow him around for a while until he’d get to the next town, then they’d part ways.
While he traveled, he also took up painting. He had a lot of art classes as a child but found that he enjoyed painting when someone wasn’t constantly telling him how to do it.
James has a fascination with cars and racing despite not having a license. Driving without one was his first taste of the crime life
Despite not looking it, he’s an adrenaline junky. He enjoys watching sports and taking part in them.
James is an intelligent man, but lacks street smarts. He is very trusting and has a long history of getting scammed
He was recruited by Team Rocket after being scammed. He was able to track them down and steal back what he was scammed for. Impressed by the fact that he was able to do so, they asked if he’d be interested in joining the organization.
Given that they actually have food and ingredients, James usually finds himself being the chef of the TRio. Especially early on. He even taught Meowth how to cook!
Jessie and James
James is younger than Jessie
They do their makeup together in the morning. James is better at makeup than Jessie is and often helps her apply it (especially with fake lashes bc she can never get them evenly)
Jessie and James have gotten to the point where they have a hard time sleeping without one another
Jessie gave James his Koffing
While Jessie thrives in the cold, James thrives in sunny weather
Cassidy
Cassidy grew up on a Pokémon ranch
As a child, she was a huge troublemaker
Cassidy came from a goody-goody family and was very close to her parents.
She’s related to the Hales. She is Molly’s aunt and the younger sister of Molly’s mother.
Her cousin is Attila. They’d butt heads as kids but they get along just fine now.
Attila was the one that recommended she join Team Rocket
The reason she joined Team Rocket was to get money to help her parents. She still sends a lot of money straight to them. She doesn’t have the heart to tell them what she does for a living and has limited contact despite her parents trying to reach out
She joined Team Rocket with the intention of eventually leaving and going back home but never did (because she ended up actually liking the job)
She has an affinity for dog Pokémon
She has a country accent but disguises it. It still comes out sometimes (particularly when she has moments of softness). This is also why she uses a lot of pet names like “hun”, “darling” and “sug”
She used to date Jessie when Jessie first joined Team Rocket
She never really liked makeup and feminine clothing until she met Jessie. She developed an appreciation for it (especially makeup) but she’d still chose some joggers over a skirt any day.
She is extremely low maintenance
Cassidy has a very warm, trustworthy presence (great for conning people)
She is the queen of passive aggression and sarcasm
Cassidy is too competitive for her own good.
Butch
He is trans
His twin is Rico (from A Poached Ego) and they have another older brother
Butch comes from a family of Pokémon poachers
He has a much kinder heart than the rest of his family. He’d often secretly take care of the Pokémon his parents would poach before they sold them
He joined Team Rocket because of family ties (his family often sells Pokémon to Team Rocket) and stuck around after being partnered up with and quickly falling for Cassidy
Butch is sucker for romance
Butch has insomnia and is usually running on 4 hours of sleep per day
Despite being the quieter one of the duo, Butch really enjoys karaoke. Cassidy gets shy when performing but Butch helped her come out of her shell
He cares a lot about his appearance. He works out a lot, and has a very thorough skincare/haircare routine
Butch has a tattoo but no one knows where it is or what it is other than Cassidy
Butch is extremely smart. He can be found reading random textbooks in his free time.
Butch and Cassidy
They are both already dating but keep it on the down low
Despite having their own Pokémon they usually share them and use/train them interchangeably
They both very much enjoy playing with each other’s hair. Cassidy’s always in awe of how silky Butch’s hair is and Butch is just impressed by the sheer amount of hair she has.
They do couples yoga together every morning
Attila
Attila was a very loud and rowdy child. Not much has changed.
His parents traveled a lot for business so they’d have him stay at his Uncle’s ranch fairly often. This uncle just so happens to be Cassidy’s father, making them cousins.
On the ranch, he’d play with all the Pokémon and liked helping his uncle herd and wrangle them.
As much as he loves big, strong Pokémon, he has the biggest soft spot for really small, baby Pokémon. Caterpie in particular.
Attila joined Team Rocket just because the idea of catching powerful Pokémon really appealed to him. He is a simple man.
He was a normal field agent for Team Rocket at first. He proved to be too skilled for that position and was promoted to an high ranking officer where he was teamed up with Hun
Hun
Hun is nonbinary, specifically gender fluid. They use all pronouns.
Hun is the child of Professor Lund and older sibling of Tory
They were born in Hoenn
Hun pretty much grew up in their father’s lab and thus took an interest in researching Pokémon
While they get along with their father fairly well, they have different views when it comes to conducting research. Hun’s ideals leaning to the more unethical side.
They joined Team Rocket as a scientist initially
For larger missions, Team Rocket usually sends a few grunts, some field agents and a scientist. Hun was the scientists for one of these missions and Attila and his parter at the time were assigned as the field agents. There was some interference (probably some 10 year old). Attila and Hun ended up carrying the mission. Hun was offered the chance to be an high ranking officer and agreed so long as Attila was their partner.
Attila and Hun
Attila and Hun haven’t been partners for too long but they work together extremely well
They are the highest ranking officers under Domino and Tyson.
They are the most well known and liked agents in Team Rocket. They’re pretty much treated as celebrities within the organization.

Chapter 3: The Last Midnight
We left off last time with Ash and the gang in a strange land named Halloweenia, accompanied by their mostly helpful aid, Mantar. And Team Rocket was…Oh yes, this is a familiar sight.
Screams echoed as Team Rocket seemed to tumble through space, unable to see where they were going. Before too long, though, James landed face-first on the ground with his limbs all akimbo. Without so much as a second to right himself, Jessie landed squarely on his back, and Meowth straight on top of her.
“Ugh,” James groaned into the floor, “why do I always have to be the fall guy?”
“It was the chivalrous thing to do, James; it puts your childhood to good use,” Jessie grunted as she heaved Meowth off of her.
After Meowth finished seeing stars, he looked around in wonderment. “Whoa, where are we?”
They were in a cavernous room, or possibly a hallway, with strange plants of various sizes and the same kinds of Halloween relics as had been in the strange house, some floating in midair, some seeming to be almost alive.
Spotting a strange Ekans figure spiraling around a tree jutting out sideways from the stony wall, Jessie moved to get a closer look. But before she could get too close, the whole room started shaking beneath her feet.
“Oh no, what now?” James whimpered as he covered his head for safety.
Suddenly, the floor beneath them opened up; the ground simply vanished as it was replaced with a black pit. Jessie, James, and Meowth were suspended in the air for a moment of panic as they looked at each other before they shot their arms up and yet again began to scream.
“Team Rocket’s falling down again, again!”
Tumblr media
Sounds of Halloweenia’s great party were reverberating throughout the land to the point that it almost seemed like the moss on the trees was bumping up and down to the beat. The music combined with the chatter and general merriment created a pervasive din and a quite happy atmosphere. Everywhere except for around Mantar and our friends.
Ash observed a Girafarig whose black half had almost entirely taken over its yellow half, leaving nothing but yellow dots up its neck to hint at its prior color.
“So that’s what’s gonna happen to Pikachu?” Ash asked cooly, stroking Pika-boo’s now luscious brown fur.
“It’s likely to some degree, yes,” Mantar answered. “But fear not, once you return to your world the effects should reverse just as they came on.”
“You mean it’s not permanent?”
“No, it’s not.”
“Oh, thank goodness!”
Ash took Pika-boo in his arms and cheered as Pika-boo quietly cooed, knowing that his still-Pikachu voice would be the only thing to give him away. Misty and Brock likewise smiled, looking at Pika-boo with abundant relief.
“It’s a shame there aren’t any Water Pokémon around,” Misty observed. “I’d like to see what changes they’d go through.”
“You’d just like to see any Water Pokémon,” Ash joshed. He turned to Mantar. “Water Pokémon are her favorites.”
As he spoke, Ash began reaching for a piece of carnival food that he and Pikachu had been eyeing. It was shaped like a Hoothoot, which would have been fun enough, but more than that, it was doughy and it smelled salty and fatty and divine. With a flash of his eyes, Mantar froze Ash and Pikachu, then turned them around so they couldn’t even look at the food anymore. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you. You have no idea what effect objects from this world can have on you.”
Ash whimpered a little bit. “So we don’t get to eat the whole time that we’re here?”
“I wouldn’t try i—”
“Wait, I still have my Halloween candy!”
Ash tore out his bag of tasty treats and began digging into it, only pausing to stop to give Pika-boo a piece. Pika-boo struggled to work out eating with his new fangs and his teeny mouth, but neither he nor Ash seemed to have too much trouble with shoveling away their snacks.
With a roll of his eyes, Mantar turned back to Misty. “I’m sure you could find a Seismitoad around here eventually if you keep your eyes peeled.”
Misty’s face faltered. “A Seismitoad. Oh, goodie.”
“What’s that?” Ash mumbled to Brock, his words hardly coherent through all the chocolate, nuts, and caramel.
“Let’s just say it’s not pretty,” Brock whispered back. “Like, worse than a Tentacruel not pretty.”
Misty suddenly popped up and pulled Brock by the ear. She scowled at him. “I heard that.”
“Ow, not the ear! I didn’t even do anything!”
“Let’s move along, children,” Mantar suggested.
Eager to get away from Misty’s cruel fingers, Brock hopped at the opportunity to follow Mantar, and Ash and Misty were quick to follow. Mantar explained things as he led the group further into the fray.
“Halloween is the biggest celebration of the year here, because it’s the day that our world was created. So, just like you, every year we dress up and have a festival in commemoration.”
Sure enough, everyone seemed to be dressed in outlandish costumes imitating various people, Pokémon, and other creatures, but they hardly seemed necessary. There was a man, entirely red with horns emerging from his face, dressed up like a Bisharp, a Bisharp dressed like a zombie, and that zombie girl from before was dressed in an all red evening gown like a lounge singer from back in their world.
“Mantar, can I ask you something?” Misty started.
“Of course.”
“Why aren’t you wearing a costume, then?”
Mantar frowned, his moustache twitching a little. “The gate between your world and our world must be guarded at all times. But nobody ever wants to work it on Halloween. So I volunteered for it. There was no party for me, so I didn’t bother dressing up.”
“Well, that’s no problem!” Ash grinned. “You can just enjoy the party now!”
Suddenly, Ash was wearing an frilly orange suit and bowler hat that looked like a pumpkin as he jumped into the midst of the party with Pika-boo. They danced away up against a Honchcrow dressed as a gangster, who was doing a pro body wave.
Everyone else sweat-dropped as they looked on, stealthily scooting away.
“We’ll just pretend we don’t k know them,” Brock whispered.
Misty nodded, looking off to the side and whistling nonchalantly.
“I appreciate the offer,” Mantar called out to Ash after letting out a nervous cough, “but I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
Suddenly, Ash and Pikachu were back, breathing heavily from their mediocre dancing skills.
“Because it is my current duty as gatekeeper to get you all home safely. After that, I must immediately return to the gate; it’s bad enough as it is that I’m not there right now as I’m helping you.”
“That doesn’t matter,” Ash stated firmly. “You said that Pikachu will be able to go back to normal when we get back to Johto, so there’s no rush.”
“I’m afraid that it’s not that simple. You have to leave by midnight, or else you won’t be able to return.”
Ash started. “Y-You mean we’ll be stuck here forever?”
“Yes. And when I say forever, I mean it truly, because people here don’t die.”
Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu all looked at each other with wide eyes, gulping nervously, with nothing else to say, but:
“Uh-oh.”
Tumblr media
“Run for your life!”
“I am, Jessie! I am!”
“Well, I’m running for all nine of my lives, ‘cause I was nevah meant to run dis fast!”
Jessie and Meowth had their eyes squeezed shut as they sprinted through the night. Only James dared a look back at their fiery pursuer. There behind them, but still far too close, was a full-grown Rapidash, flames ablaze. However, unlike an ordinary Rapidash, with a creamy, white coat, this one was that of a dark charcoal, blending in with the night so that the licking flames burned your eyes against all the dark.
That wasn’t the worst part, though. James let out a girly scream as he got another good look at the man riding the dark Rapidash.
A headless horseman.
James picked up the pace, as did Jessie and Meowth. The countryside flew by as the horseman continued to gain on them until he was nigh on their heels. With a flying leap, the Rapidash cleared their heads, landing on their other side and causing the trio to come to a screeching halt. Inches away from the horseman, Jessie, James, and Meowth held onto each other, barely holding back their whimpers.
Then, before they could even give a cry, the horseman cracked his whip of bones and the Rapidash spun around, kicking Team Rocket into the night with its mighty hind-haunches.
Still holding onto each other as they flew through the air, screeches being ripped from their bodies, they arched over the countryside, over the neighborhoods, and over the buzzing city until they crashed straight into the tallest building around.
Fortunately, the window was nothing but an empty rectangle in the gothic stone frame of what truly amounted to a castle. So, with limited crashing, Team Rocket tumbled onto a stone floor, a tangle of limbs and groans.
“Ugh, I feel like we’re being abused more this episode than usual,” James whined as he stood up, dusting himself off.
“New author,” Meowth commented, touching his charm to make sure that it hadn’t been broken in the crash landing.
“Both of you be quiet!” Jessie snapped. “What’s that sound?”
“It sounds as though it’s coming from downstairs.”
“It sounds like quite da party.”
Suddenly, the trio’s eyes lit up and triplet grins spread wide on their faces.
“A party!”
The stone room at the top of the tower gave way to a spiral staircase that the Team Rocket trio ran down, sounds of the party growing louder and louder with every footfall. They passed by many floors, all seemingly themed with some Halloween element or another, but the gang hardly stopped for a breath in their mission to find whichever floor was housing the party.
Eventually they stumbled upon a large banquet hall, and it was immediately obvious that it was party central. The room was decorated with rich harvest golds and metallic oranges, deeply opulent as well as all-encompassing of fall. And in the enormous room were hundreds and hundreds of people as well as Pokémon, not to mention games, food, drinks, decorations—all the trappings of a well-planned party.
“People certainly go all out with their costumes here,” Jessie observed as she spotted a mummy, completely wrapped in dusty bandages, save for his nearly invisible eyes. He was even carting a sarcophagus similar to that of a Cofagrigus behind him.
“Can I interest you in a drink?”
A Gothorita was standing beside them, holding a golden tray of variously colored drinks, far above her head so that it was on level with Jessie and James. She was dressed as a bat, wearing very angular wings out of her back and pointed ears on her pigtails.
“Wait, are you a person or a Pokémon?” James asked, pointing at her face.
The Gothorita laughed. “I’m a Pokémon, silly! Now, how about that drink?”
“Oh, well, don’t mind if I do,” James said politely, taking an orange drink.
Gothorita went off to continue milling about the party as James began to sip on his drink.
“Well, that’s strange;” Jessie observed. “I didn’t think that any Pokémon could speak except for you, Meowth.”
“I know,” Meowth said with a pout. “I don’t feel so special here.”
“Oh, like you feeling special is the biggest of our worries.”
“Uh, guys?”
“Well, I happen to tink dat one’s opinion of themselves is one of the most important tings to concern themselves wit.”
“Especially if they’re a walking, talking cat Pokémon, right?”
“That’s right!”
“Guys!”
Jessie and Meowth turned to look at James, only to find that he wasn’t where they last saw him. Or, rather, he was, but they just had to look a little lower.
“James! You’re a Raticate!”
“I know!”
“I hate rats!”
“I know!”
“Well, what are we going to do?”
“I don’t know!”
James looked pathetic. He was trying to hold his head in his hands, but they could barely reach. His body was shaking and his eyes were becoming more tear-filled by the second.
“I think that drink I had was some kind of a potion!”
Jessie growled. “Well, then let’s find that dumb waiter girl and give her a piece of my mind! Right, Meowth? Meowth?”
Immediately assuming the worst, Jessie’s eyes darted around, looking for Meowth and whatever terrible thing could have happened to him. But lo and behold, he was still right where he had been, just thoroughly ignoring the both of them.
“Meowth! What’s the big idea?” James demanded.
One look at Meowth’s face, however, told the whole story. His mouth was drooling just a bit, but more dramatic than that, his eyes had turned to large, pink hearts that were beating quite fast.
“Me-yowza!”
Jessie and James-Raticate turned to follow Meowth’s gaze and saw a sassy Meowth with a blue-gray coat. She was twirling a curled whisker in her paw and batting her curled eyelashes and not one second later, Meowth was out of there, thoughts of helping his friend James left in his dust.
“Well, Meowth is nothing if not reliable,” Jessie grumbled.
Suddenly, someone dressed as a scarecrow came over to Jessie, black eyes wide as he zoomed in with no regard for personal space.
“Wow, your costume is so realistic!” he complimented as he poked and prodded her face. “What is it made out of?”
One good pinch to her cheeks was enough to send scarecrow boy flying away with a bright red hand print on his face.
A vein on Jessie’s temple was pulsing as she clenched her fists tightly. “I do not need to stand here and be insulted! Come on, James, we’ll figure out how to change you back somewhere else.”
Jessie dove into the party for just a moment to grab Meowth by the tail, away from the female Dark Meowth, leaving him kicking the air in protest before she too grabbed James-Raticate and booked it out of the banquet hall.
The stone staircase continued further down, even though they must have traversed dozens of flights by that point. But Jessie figured that eventually they had to reach the ground floor and, therefore, the exit to the forsaken castle.
Predictably, the stairs did run out eventually. But they didn’t leave off at an obvious front door. Rather, they opened up to a stone room, much like the one they had fallen into on the top floor, though this one was much larger.
And much spookier.
It was completely empty, save for some suits of armor lining the walls and some sconces lighting the way. The sounds of the party were completely mute from down there, even though they had been so roaring within the room that it seemed like you’d have to be miles away before the sound was drowned out. The only sound was that of their echoing footsteps upon the hard stone floor and the flickering of flames in the sconces. There were a few doors instantly visible in the large room. All were made of wood with thick, iron slabs screwed into them, and all were tall and formidable enough to be the front door.
Jessie sighed. “I guess we’ll just have to start trying doors.”
“Dats gonna have to be all you, Jess. Jimmy and I ain’t tall enough to reach any of the knobs.”
“Fine, fine, just choose one.”
“Um, how about that one?”
James pointed with his stubby paw to one that had gold plating rather than iron that shimmered in the dim light of the room. Hesitantly, Jessie reached for the gleaming knob and turned it, almost surprised when it was unlocked.
“For a castle, this place doesn’t have very good security,” she murmured.
Unfortunately, the door opened to reveal another room, rather than the out of doors. But this room wasn’t flaunting any great opulence, like the golden door suggested. Rather, in this room, the gray stone floor gave way to packed dirt, uneven with tree roots that dotted the floor. As the trio stepped in, they saw that the roots were all coming from one tree in the center of the room that was nearly seven feet tall. Not very large for a tree, but, at second glance, this was no ordinary tree.
The tree’s bark was ragged, even completely torn in places, giving way to a deep, black interior. And there were only a few tufts of leaves where the tree even seemed alive anymore. Despite the season, they were still bright green, and by far the most verdant part of the tree.
That wasn’t what the Team Rocket trio was looking at, though.
Nestled atop the small tuft of green at the tip of the tree was a magnificent crown. It was a pale, golden color, though it didn’t appear to be made of metal. The frame was nearly branch-like itself, with irregular golden sticks weaving together in zig-zags to form the cylindrical shape. Then, dotting the gold were colorful gemstones, glowing seemingly from the inside out. It was absolutely captivating to look at.
Jessie, James, and Meowth could barely tear themselves away from the object in order to look at each other. With the single glance, they knew they were all thinking the same thing.
They had to steal that crown.
“Now, it’s just a matter of how we’re gonna do it,” Meowth mused with a paw to his mouth. He knew he was the brains behind the operation and that Jessie and James were going to need him to think of a plan.
The last thing he expected was Jessie coming up with a plan first. She picked him up by the scruff of his neck, and heaved him in the direction of the crown.
With only a moment to gather his wits, Meowth reached his arms out for the crown. He only had once chance to grab it, and he had to get it right.
Fortunately, Jessie was a good throw. Meowth landed flawlessly right on the top of the tree and plucked the crown up into his paws. It was heavy, but not as heavy as if it had been pure gold or any other metal. For Meowth’s size, it was cumbersome more than anything; his arms had to be nearly completely outstretched just to hold on to it. Once he had a good grasp, he leapt off of the tree, and back beside Jessie and James-Raticate.
Standing on the same plane as Meowth, James ogled the crown. He reached his tiny hands to the crown, just touching it, since he couldn’t really manage holding it. Then, after a moment, James-Raticate disappeared into a puff of smoke. When the smoke cleared, James stood in his full height, good as new.
“James, you’re back!” Jessie exclaimed.
“Oh, thank goodness.” James’s voice was thick with relief as he patted his own body to make sure that he was, in fact, human again.
“Then why is da Pokémon the one stuck carrying da heavy crown?”
Jessie didn’t need any more convincing. She snatched the beautiful crown out of Meowth’s hands, marveling at it for a moment. Then, a rustling came from the tree in the center of the room and Team Rocket’s hearts dropped. They couldn’t risk anyone trying to take away the dear prize of this exquisite crown!
“We gotta get outta here!”
“Right!”
“Right!”
And, just like that, they absconded out of the castle, crown in hand.

Ash, Misty, and Brock were all talking over each other, all but yelling in each other’s faces. Maybe they were trying to figure out a plan, maybe they were talking about the dinner plans they were missing. Who could tell over all that yelling? Pika-boo and Mantar just looked at each other, sighing as they waiting for it to come to an end.
It didn’t.
Eventually, it all became too much and Pika-boo began charging up to use a Thundershock on the whole group. Eyes wide, Mantar clenched his spoons, and crossed them, letting them glow red before Pika-boo’s sparks winked out.
“Disable; temporary Attack,” he clarified when Pika-boo looked at him questioningly. “You can’t use an Electric Attack while in this form, Pikachu. People will ask questions. As for these clowns…”
Mantar shifted towards the still-squabbling kids and simply wacked them each on the head with his spoons.
“Ugh, I guess we needed that,” Brock groaned.
“You sure did.”
“Pikaa.”
“Thanks, Pikachu,” Ash said sarcastically, rubbing the growing lump on his head. “So then what is this portal thing?”
Mantar sighed. “That’s the hard part. Any object artifact from your world will do, but they’re rare. Furthermore, a spell is needed to go along with them, as far as I know. It’s not legal to pass through worlds, so the details are shrouded in mystery. But there are peddlers that do it, but I, personally, have never done it.”
“So, basically, we don’t know,” Brock surmised.
“Essentially,” Mantar answered regretfully.
“So,” Misty started, hope trying with all its might to remain in her voice, “do you have any idea where we should start?”
The gang was left hanging as Mantar’s eyes suddenly went blank. He was unmoving to the point that he looked more like a statue than a living, breathing Alakazam. Ash snapped in front of his eyes as Pika-boo waved his wing-like fluff, but to no avail.
“Nobody’s home,” Ash said as he put his face right up to Mantar’s, squinting into his eyes.
A moment later, Mantar blinked out of it, then glared at Ash, who quickly retreated.
“What happened, Mantar?” Misty asked.
“I received a telepathic message,” he explained, his voice grave. “There’s been a situation.”
“What kind of situation?” Brock asked as everyone looked at each other with concern.
“An object central to Halloweenia has been stolen. The king’s crown.”
“Do they have any idea who stole it?” Ash asked.
Mantar shook his head. “It couldn’t have been a Halloweenia resident. No one in their right mind would steal the crown. So there’s every reason for me to believe that someone came through the gate after you all. And, without me to guard it, they landed in Halloweenia without anyone knowing.”
Misty gasped. “You think another human stole it?”
“I’m afraid so. I need to return to the gate to see if it’s been compromised.”
“Wait!” Ash called out. “We need your help to find a portal!”
With a heavy breath, Mantar turned to Ash. “The truth is, I don’t know any more about portals in Halloweenia than I’ve already told you. The best advice I can give you is to get out of town. Tower guards are bound to be looking for humans all around the city.”
“But then how are we supposed to find a portal?” Misty asked, worry seeping into her tone.
“I’ll try and help you if I can,” Mantar said. “Just remember what I said and if you can ask for help without gaining any suspicion, then do it. That’s all I can tell you.”
“That’s all?” Ash asked.
“Oh, and this.” Mantar psychically projected a grainy image of the stolen crown. “This is King Trevenant’s crown, and that,” he pointed into the distance at the tallest building bursting through Halloweenia’s skyline, “is his tower. Don’t go there for any reason, whatsoever.”
“Okay,” Ash agreed.
“I have to go now.”
And before anyone could even say goodbye, Mantar teleported away. Then, in the distance, there was the sound of many gongs ringing out.
“What’s that?” Misty asked.
“It sounds like a clock tower,” Brock observed. “Ten rings.”
“Uh, Brock, that means it’s 10 o’clock,” Misty said with a gulp.
Ash’s eyes grew wide.
“We have two hours.”
As the clock strikes ten, things are looking worse and worse for Ash and co. Will they make it out before they’re stuck in Halloweenia forever? And what of Team Rocket? Is there more to that crown than meets the eye? All this and more in the next installment of Lost in Halloweenia!

Wouldn’t it be so cool if all of Team Rocket’s previous pokemon got to meet each other? i mean, they’re not even all in one place like with ash’s previous pokemon. We kinda don’t know where a lot of them even are. i wish they’d at least explain it a little when everyone switches pokemon in every region :P
RANDOM THOUGHTS!
* Imagine all of Jessie’s various Contest pokemon getting to meet each other and become best friends! They could team up to join game-style Sinnoh contests as a dance troupe~
* Imagine maybe some of the mons over the years were released into the wild instead of sent back to rocket HQ or anything. Like, jessie and james go back to visit Arbok and Weezing and they trust them to look after their new friends too. It would be a sad ending if all their old pokemon were left at rocket HQ, cos I mean i DO NOT TRUST giovanni to be a good boss! He probably would have just given all those pokemon to other grunts, and not even cared whether they were taken care of... Also its cute to imagine there’s just a random forest full of an eclectic family of former rocket pokemon. Some guy comes along to poach the ekans and koffing and gets their ass kicked by a shitstorm of every other pokemon ever XD
* Imagine if james’s cacnea is still with anime!Gardenia, and it’s grown up to be a big ol super strong Cacturne that’s super famous now. And maybe James is really awkward going back to visit it, thinking that it wouldn’t even remember him now it’s famous. But then as soon as it sees him it gives him a big ol spiky hug! And I think Cacturne would probably wanna rejoin his team again and go home, seriously. It never felt like with its personality it ever actually WANTED to become famous and strong at battling. Thats why that episode was such a wallbanger to me! Like THE ONE TIME they actually explained why someone left behind last region’s pokemon, and it was such a shoddy explanation seriously. James giving his adorable lil friend to a COMPLETE STRANGER just because it can’t learn ONE SINGLE MOVE, and he worries that it can’t be strong with him as a trainer. So he trusts that a COMPLETE STRANGER would be better at it, and doesnt even friggin ask Cacnea if it actually DOES care about being strong more than being with a trainer it loves... :( So yeah headcanoning that someday James goes back and trades back for Cacnea/Cacturne, and then it becomes like a cool big sibling figure to his newer pokemon. ^_^
* Also its dumb but I always kinda wanted James to find his Magikarp/Gyarados again someday and apologise. I mean he became pretty much constantly characterized as the one who pampers his pokemon in later seasons, it seemed like such a big contrast that he would have actually kicked that magikarp and abandoned it. I know its cos he was pushed to the limit by being ripped off by the magikarp salesman and dying of starvation on a raft in the middle of the ocean and all, I think anyone could have made bad decisions in that situation. And yeah it was funny that he got immediate karma by it evolving into gyarados and calling a swarm of other gyarados to attack everyone, and if it hadnt have happened then everyone wouldnt have been able to find land, and yeah.. BUT STILL I’d like to hope maybe someday he just randomly bumps into that gyarados again while the trio are travelling some random ocean, and he gets a chance to apologise. Maybe he’s able to recognise it, and he still has its pokeball, as a sign he never truly forgot it and his apology really is genuine. And then it could join the team and they could finally ride around on a real gyarados! Woo! Also it’d be cute if it was actually still comically weak and dopey, even as a gyarados. We don’t really get to see that cos it teamed up with those other gyarados to get revenge on james in the original episode.
* I just imagine it’d be really cute if Mime Jr, Chimecho, Inkay and Yamask ever met, cos they were all kinda like James’s lil babbus. KITTEN PILE! UNUSUAL KITTEN PILE! Also lol didnt james say he was only leaving chimecho there so it could get medical care, and they’d be back for it soon? WHY DID THAT NEVER HAPPEN
* Also it would be nice if team rocket took a tour to visit all the various pokemon they did actually get shown leaving behind with a particular person. Like, have an episode where they win the lottery or something and its all ‘WOO WE’RE FINALLY RICH!’ and then they spend most of the episode arguing over what to spend it on, with ridiculous meowth fantasies. But then in the ending you just see them flying first class on a plane and its like ‘oh i guess they went on holiday’, but then you get a heartwarming montage of them visiting all their past pokemon and bringing them loads of gifts ^_^ And then after the credits we see them like ‘oh no we’re broke again.. but it was worth it!’
* Also can we see James’s two Victreebel again? I MISS THEM! It was such a unique plot, honestly. I think James is the only character in the anime who ever caught two of the same pokemon. Also he kinda lost them both through no fault of his own. It was kinda sad! Much as it was also adorable and hilarious that they found each other and fell in love ^_^ srsly imagine james visiting them and they have a lil nest of baby bellsprouts imagine james buried in baby bellsprouts IMAGINE
* Oh and imagine what if jessie’s dustox and ash’s butterfree got to meet each other! Maybe they go double dating, lol. Maybe the dustox family babysits for the butterfrees. maybe they just hang out and discuss how they had weirdly similar episodes XD
* Also why exactly is Wobuffet the only pokemon that gets to remain in every region, along with meowth? Was it just that popular with audiences? I wanna know what happened to that Lickitung. That was the other one that the trio accidentally lost. At least we know it was traded to a lil kid who probably took good care of it, at least. i always felt sorry for Lickitung cos jessie was really mean to it compared to her previous pokemon. i mean, it was really disobedient and all, but still! I hope its happy with random npc kid #156. Nobody ever remembers poor lickitung...
* Also I kinda wonder about all the various pokemon the trio only used once, and borrowed from various people or were given by team rocket HQ and stuff. Its hard to even remember them all! I’d like to think that maybe the rocket HQ ones all remember the trio fondly, cos I mean.. we dont tend to see many other rockets that’re remotely nice to their pokemon. (Also I kinda like that that’s been a subtle character development? jessie used to be a huge jerk to most of her pokemon before the Contest era started)

Reply to BringsYouWings
Responding to BringsYouWings regarding her reply to my reblog on Together Forever.
Did you see how massive her gym got? She’s doing a great job as Gym Leader with lots of Water Types to train– being a Pokemon Master is a very undefined goal! But getting close enough to a Water Type to Mega Evolve has gotta be bringing her closer to that.
Yeah, I saw that, and I also knew about her mega-evolving her Gyarados before that as well thanks to the Televi-Kun bit. Heck, part of the reason I'm really looking forward to her gym battle with Ash is because hopefully she'll restore honor to herself and to all Gym Leaders as well especially after what the idiot writers did with them in AG.
Unfortunately, after how Hoenn and Unova's Gym Leaders got the whole reputation of Gym Leaders being skilled trainers irreparably tarnished, and how even Sinnoh's Gym Leaders, who definitely were somewhat competent, only got to be competent by a downgrade in Pikachu and Ash's competency where they lost to them despite their having beating a freaking Regice beforehand, I'm very cynical about the Gym Leader profession in the Anime as a result, and especially regarding how Misty's Water Pokémon Master goal most likely won't be fulfilled while she's Gym Leader.
To explain exactly what's driving me to think that, let me bring in an anecdote regarding, say, Team Rocket. In particular episode 3, the second episode they were in. Jessie, James, and Meowth managed to defeat Ash's Pidgeotto, blindsided Pikachu, and they had the advantage in EVERYTHING, even if they didn't resort to two-against-one in a cheap match against Ash. The only Pokémon he has left is Caterpie, which aside from being completely inexperienced, but was also weak enough to be captured without even a fight, and more importantly was near-DEAD thanks to earlier events (it had only one battle under its belt, the aforementioned Pidgeotto which nearly got it killed and eaten for breakfast due to Ash's complete idiocy). By contrast, Ekans, Koffing, and Meowth were a LOT more experienced than Caterpie (at least in the dub of Island of the Giant Pokémon, they were under Jessie and James' team for a whole year before the events of the anime), had the type advantage, and even managed to take out the pokemon that gave it trouble earlier. And in Meowth's case, he was probably with them for even longer than that. Despite all of that, Caterpie not only beat them, it utterly, completely humiliated them easily. Thanks to that loss, Team Rocket got a reputation of being grossly incompetent trainers not only among the fanbase, but based on some barbs by Misty and some other characters, even in-universe, and this was despite their first appearance having them be formidable enough to actually have wanted signs requesting their capture.
You might be wondering, okay, what does that have to do with the Gym Leaders, and by extension Misty? Well, thanks to that so-called Fresh Start for AG, Ash started using completely rookie-based teams against the Gym Leaders of each region after Johto, exempting Pikachu (which is a whole other issue in itself thanks to the writers loving to do pointless level resets on him, with BW being the worst of them). It initially started out a bit well, as Roxanne at least lost to Pikachu, a confirmed veteran, and Brawley managed to completely beat Ash and Ash winning on a retry (the only Gym Leader in Hoenn to ever do so if I might add. I'm not counting Norman, because they needed an excuse to force Ash to go the route of the games, especially when he obviously isn't Ash's father unlike Brendan/May). As soon as they got to Flannery, however, it completely fell apart as each and every single one of the Gym Leaders started losing far too easily to his rookie team (and in the case of Wattson, both Ash and Wattson seemed to outright cheat during the fight, the former with Pikachu being supercharged, and the latter with his using a robotic Raikou.). That reminds me far too much of what happened to Team Rocket in Episode 3. I could tolerate it with Team Rocket, since I am sort of expecting that bit even if I don't like it. I CANNOT tolerate it with Gym Leaders, however, since they're supposed to be leagues above that kind of mockery. DP does slightly better, where Ash actually DOES have to work on actually beating the Gym Leaders with various retries, and tying in one case, with his rookie team. Unfortunately, while it does allow for good development for his Sinnoh-Mons, it came at the cost of shafting Ash and especially Pikachu themselves, considering Pikachu ends up losing to the gym leaders considering that same Pikachu managed to completely wipe the floor with Brandon's Regice, so, while a slight improvement, it's not enough to truly redeem them. Then BW came along and proceeded to turn Ash into a huge-scale idiot that even made OS Ash seem like a bona-fide genius by comparison. That bit, alongside them redoing the whole "let's have the rookies trash most of the Gym Leaders like they were tissue paper" plotline for all of them, save for the infamous Palpitoad gym match, made the Unova Gym Leaders out as being even WORSE than the Hoenn Gym Leaders. And the Hoenn Gym Leaders and how they were depicted was an ESPECIALLY sore point for me because of the fact that this was right after the writers callously forced Misty to abandon her goal by having her sisters completely irresponsibly leave the gym to her while they went on a cruise, since it seemed to imply that they are thinking, "Misty's so weak we should make her a gym leader and be a punching bag to a bunch of rookies! Ha ha ha!" This is a really disgusting treatment for even a decent trainer, much less one who explicitly wanted to be a Water Pokémon Master in the OS.
This is in direct contrast to the Original Series Gym Leaders where, Misty's sisters aside, the gym leaders (even Team Rocket in their brief stint as Gym Leaders) were complete and utter beasts on the battlefield (Brock was formidable enough that Ash had to supercharge Pikachu just to even have a shot at winning after beating him with minimum effort. Lt. Surge managed to wipe the floor with at least sixteen trainers prior to Ash in a month, and did so with such viciousness that many of his opponents had to be sent to the Emergency Room afterwards. Sabrina's psychic powers, let alone her skills, were such was that even challenging her is essentially commiting suicide, and Blane, a trainer who was largely apathetic, actually managed to completely trounce Ash with his Magmar, and overall ALL of them gave Ash a complete run for his money. Heck, even Team Rocket, who ordinarily are joke characters since Episode 3, managed to take a level in badass when they became Gym Leaders temporarily. Even in Johto, Ash mainly got his easier wins via veterans such as Charizard, Bulbasaur, and Pikachu, showing them to still be very proficient at battling.). In fact, of all the series after the Original Series, the only one that actually comes close to restoring a Gym Leader's honor was in XY, where many of them managed to trounce Ash without Ash or Pikachu looking bad as a result, and even the one who did lose on the first try against his Kalos Pokemon had an explicit handicap.
So yeah, now you know EXACTLY why I'm not happy with how Misty's a gym leader, and why I want her to pursue her goal again. And even ignoring that, let me point out that there's a whole argument made by DBZ Fan on how, even ignoring all of the above, being a Gym Leader won't get her far in her Water Pokemon Master goal in the long run, as you can read here: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=336960 Long story short, you'd need to be an Elite 4 member or even Champion level before you can come close to becoming a Pokemon Master, or even a Water Pokemon Master (and we know that's the level since Misty fangirled Lorelei, an Elite 4 member, in the Orange Islands). Besides, did Ash become a Battle Frontier brain? No he didn't, and he certainly never settled down to become a Gym Leader either.
Hopefully, I've made things far more clear this time around, at least enough to not question why I think she shouldn't be held up in the gym anymore.
