Rise From The Grave

It had been a violent death, which absolutely no one would be surprised by. Bullets to the chest, trying to make use of their shield and themself to save someone else. Too many rounds too fast and the electrical snap of their shield failing had been drowned by the sound of bullets in flesh and Zer0's cut-off shriek of pain as they fell. It had been too chaotic to get to them immediately and by the time Nick had made it to the downed assassin there had been too much blood, no breath, no heartbeat, no flicker of awareness when he clung to them. Nothing. Just like that, Zer0 had been gone.

They wouldn't have wanted to be left buried in the desert but that was their only option. A hole dug deep enough that their body wouldn't be disturbed, a simple marker left behind. No one expected anyone to find the alien buried in the middle of nowhere.

Its a couple of days later that Zer0 wakes up, groggy and in pain, half suffocated by the slow crush of dirt piled on them. It takes several moments for the situation to dawn on them as they stare blankly at the earth covering their visor. Then panic rises, makes them shake as they try to wiggle free, shift enough to reach upward.

It feels like hours before they can claw and wriggle and drag themself free, choking on blood from barely healed wounds and the lack of oxygen in the dirt. One arm claws free, then another, desperately grasping the first solid object they find - their own gravestone. Then the rest of them drags painfully free, gasping slow, deep lungfulls of air as they shake from adrenaline and pain.

They're alive. They're still here. Maybe not for long if Gunsmoke has anything to say about it but here they are, clinging to their own grave marker, giggling hysterically at the mess they've found themself in now.

Fuck Nick was going to murder them.

Also depends on what "worth it" (emphasis on the it) means to you prompting this question. Money? Pain? Certain risks you heard of? In the end, it's a very personal choice to make for everyone individually.

Sexuality Headcanon: I actually like a lot of different reads for Miu's sexuality. She's yet another DR lesbian who needs to be freed from comphet. She's pansexual who'd go for anything that moves. She's asexual and all her sex talk is a clumsy effort at blending in with a society that expects girls to make babies. Take your pick!

Gender Headcanon: Miu is transhumanist and not that attached to her fleshy form. She loves her boobs, but she'd be down with exchanging them for spherical cannons. She brags about having a bombass vajayjay, but she'd totally install a robot dick that shoots lazers.

A ship I have with said character: You already know, I'm irumatsu all the way. Just at a glance, Kaede is a fun foil for Miu: a friendly yet stern prep who dresses conservatively for a rude and goofy punk who casually wears BDSM gear. But Kaede's no meek square for Miu to pick on. She's got dignity, and she'll fight back. Thing is, Miu crumbles easily under the slightest pushback. Kaede understands that, but she'd never use it to get a permanent edge over Miu. Instead, she makes sure to be the one person who actually tries to understand the human being beneath the gorgeous girl genius. And that, in turn, encourages Miu to drop her defensiveness and open up for once in her life. It's really healthy for Miu ... and it'd keep things interesting for Kaede. This dynamic spins in my head like a dynamo. It's dynamite!

A BROTP I have with said character: Maybe you don't always need to have heart-to-hearts with someone. Maybe a relationship can just be two people dissing each other every day forever, and that's enough. Maybe Miu enjoys verbally sparring with Kokichi because he's the one guy who can actually keep up with her (he'd say it's more like she tries to keep up with him). A friendship of dueling wits, two people who spend their free time coming up with clever insults, trading them with each other at school, then ending it by asking, "Same time tomorrow?" In a way, they might need each other ... so they don't terrorize the rest of the world.

A NOTP I have with said character: Eh, I don't really have one? None that I feel too strongly about, anyway.

A random headcanon: Miu has very strong opinions on cartoons intended for small children. The kind of person who vehemently tweets that animation is cinema but only watches franchise movies from big studios. The kind of person who would tell kids they deserve to die for not caring about the original Teen Titans series. The kind of person who's ranked every episode of a show they barely even like ... Dang, I'd watch Miu's YouTube channel.

General Opinion over said character: One of my top three Danganronpa characters. Hell, top two. I love the huge personalities in these games, and few are bigger than the self-proclaimed gorgeous girl genius. Bombastic yet secretly meek, generous yet condescending, socially clueless yet sharp-witted, beautiful yet devoid of rizz, the worst person you'd ever know yet a person I'd like to have a non-alcoholic beverage with. She's awful because she thinks she's the best, and the worst part is that she's right. Miu fuckin rulez.

She sat straight, with a smile in her sky-blue eyes so sweet and hopeful it made his heart melt. She was beautiful, clear sandy skin frosted with light freckles, and long glossy ginger hair twisted back into perfect braids.

Her thin cherry-red lips curved in a soft smile that almost made the deep wine color of her dress shine in the candle light. Her petite hands trailed gracefully along the table as she caught his eye and nodded once. Her small figure would be the perfect shape and size to scoop into his arms if he needed to, smooth black heels peeking from beneath the ruffled skirts of her dress and the woven silk trailing like waves of deep crimson blood down her arms, though they were much more beautiful, almost like her.

Sweet on the eyes and sweeter on the lips as he remembered their exchange the previous night. It felt like a million years ago. Far in the distance, but somehow all too close.

So sleepy tired so snoozy honk shoo time but thinking of ppl whos lives r forever gonna b entangled in mine even tho we barely even make eye contact when we see each other anymore, or if we havent heard from the other in years, or if we can only ever have about 4 message long "catch up" text conversations every 6 months or so, or if we make plans weeks in advance that we both end up forgetting, and slowly drift apart. But like. Still these r ppl that r just fuckin parts of me now. The person i sat with at the local park after both recently figuring out gender and picking out names for each other, and how we havent spoken in like 2 years but their name is still the same one i suggested, and how i do use a different name now that they knew me by, but i still walk by the bridge going over the train tracks and think of them, and think of them everytime i walk into a corner store with a whole aisle of energy drinks, or think of them everytime i pass the laundromat, or think of them everytime i go up the street that shared their name or go the street they lived on that shared mine. And like. Or like, the person i fuckin grew up alongside, to only drift apart after about a decade of being joint at the hip, but still waving when we see each other in the park, asking how each others pets are, and making general small talk. And how i see her in every friend i make, just in small ways, because she was my first friend and its almost like i just find people who remind me of her. Or how theres an entire kind of flower that just always makes me smile because its her name, even if she never liked them all too much. Or the ppl who r constantly coming in and out of my life, and who we both know can never be what we were before, because everything was seemingly so perfect and now we can barely stay friends instead of acquaintances for more than a month, but summer golden hour always feels like them, even if i was the only one who loved it. And just. Idk man. People who r like. Definitely gone now. But also r just. Not. If i was more poetic, i could write smth abt this. But instead i can just say like. Shit man. Nostalgias a bitch but also its like. Its who We are bc like w/o nostalgia who tf am i.
