WHAT A RIDE!! I loved this drama so much ❤ and I'm a little sad it ended. I'll do a reflection about this drama final episode and a little background story time on how I have found my love for Kdramas again because of Tomorrow.

(My reflection on the final episode and drama as a whole is at the second part with RED words if you only want to read that. 😁)

Now, I want to laugh a bit because I was not aware of the terminology "kdrama" and the Korean entertainment world in general and how popular kdramas are, until this drama showed up in my IG feed because I liked the song in that video and IG started to bombard me with more videos that used that song. Now, I was unconsciously introduced to kdramas back in 2000 and I didn't know it was called like that 😅

Last time I saw a kdrama was probably back in 2005. I was a kid, watching dramas for adults, don't blame my mom. I was very mature for my age even though I was not allowed to see kissing/sex scenes 😅 and back then and kdramas barely had any kissing, IF ANY. So they became my favorite thing to watch.

I used to watch Mexican dramas that in Spanish we call "Novelas" wich usually have about 100 episodes, more or less, and they have kissing in every episode and passionate sex scenes very frequently as well. It's the norm in most Hispanic/Latino TV romance dramas but nothing explicit, as it's broadcasted on regular TV channels.

I loved Kdramas back then, my first love was a drama in 2003/2004 called "Stairway to Heaven" which I saw probably more than 10 times. And I would highly recommend it!

I was infatuated with the main male lead. I mean, how could I not? Look at that...

The funny thing about this, is that this drama made me cry so much every time I watched it, even when I knew the story while re-watching it. And so did Tomorrow as well, I cried 😅, some episodes were a lot.

The one with the dog hit me hard because I lost a dog that I mourned more than I had for a person and even though for some people that episode was irrelevant, for others like me, it was a lovely one.

Well, for some reason I grew up and I started to get busy with school and I wasn't watching dramas anymore and instead I would watch movies when I had the chance. So I forgot my love for Kdramas. And the reason I loved Kdramas so much was because it showed me that I really didn't need that much kissing or sex scenes in order to see the romance between two people and their love story. Although a little hug between Ryeon and Park wouldn't have hurt. That was cruel for us the viewers🙄

I never came across any kdrama content on Instagram, Netflix or anywhere really because that was not in my content search so I guess the algorithm wasn't showing me anything and I wasn't aware that kdramas were a thing, but man!! Thank the lord for showing that video to me because now I'm watching dramas again and I found my love back for them. Quite addictive honestly, I have to be careful binge watching them now 😅

So I started watching Tomorrow without knowing what it was really about, just because I liked that 20secs video and was excited about Ryeon and Park's love story, I assumed it was about them.

Now if someone read this, yes you can laugh at this because you already know I got played with the amount of screen time they got 🤡 that was brutal.

However, I did love the theme of the show, and it's importance and even appreciated many things that were said that will stick with me for the long run.

NOW, THE FINAL EPISODE:

Oh wow, I must say it was better than I expected. Thank you writers 😅

Could it have been better? Sure.

Nonetheless, it didn't leave me unsatisfied as I thought it would, since a lot had to be covered in one hour episode, I was scared it would leave me empty. So in my opinion, they did well.

I binged "Twenty Five, Twenty One" yesterday, that end left me with no hopes for Park and Ryeon at all today. I liked 25-21 ending because it shows reality, but you know, I was too invested into Tomorrow's story that it would have been depressing to watch another end like that two days in a row.

Plus, I have been watching this show as an ongoing show for the past 3 or 4 weeks, and I never do that on Netflix, I didn't even know that was a thing there, I thought they always dropped the whole season at once 😅

I watch things after the season ends because I don't have the patience to deal with the wait. So I guess waiting every week for an episode gave me time to think about theories, read people's opinions in Twitter and here as well, and all of that made me be more invested in the story than when I binge watch a show because that doesn't let me have too much time to be thinking about possibilities.

I don't want a Season 2, because I don't see the point, but I do wish it had at least two more episodes to have more development between Ryeon and Park healing conversation, and Choi's life after waking up. I've read some viewers complain that Lim got almost 3 episodes to cover his story and that the others should have too, but honestly I think they all got about the same amount, the difference for me is that Lim had his story show consecutively and the others stories were more spread out into different episodes. Such as Choi's father story, the mom and sister hardships after he went on a coma, etc.

After all, Lim was part of the main cast and he didn't get as much time talking to the people they were saving, so for me it was a balance.

Now, I do think Ryeon and Park needed a longer conversation at the end, I loved that they were together for the final scene and they looked at each other in a way that it felt like an open ending was up to the viewer to interpret what happened in those 6 months and what would continue to happen after that final episode.

I don't want to read the Webtoon because I read it's different from the series so I just want to keep it for my interpretation of their future relationship. (But if the end is better in the Webtoon, then please someone tell me 😅)

For me I'd like to believe that they are never going to choose to reincarnate because they know that their fate is broken in the land of the living and they won't find each other there. But as reapers they get to see each other, work together, heal together and love each other again. I do think that love between them will happen because now that Park knows his past we saw in their conversation that he realized his mistakes towards Ryeon and the RM team purpose, and he acknowledged that his pride made him misunderstand Ryeon's opinion of suicide and that made him do foolish things as he said. That he realized he went to rescue her from being taken to hell again because of his pride not because of his feelings. And for me that shows growth, and healing overall.

That experience changed him for the better. And I really loved that for them.

I know many complaint about his behavior towards suicide and his hate towards people that think of this as a choice to end their sadness being part of the story line. And I will say, that is a real thing, and I am glad it was part of the show, I have known people like that in the past with that mentality, and although Park changed his view on the show, some people never do, even nowadays when mental health is more prioritized. There are still people like him out there.

Also, others complain about the show not having mental health professionals to be part of the show, I do think it should have been part of it as well indeed. However, the show did have Ryeon as one in the episode with the singer whose wife died. Of course more than that would have been ideal, but nonetheless, it did shine light into it.

Also, many say that the people changing their mind in the last minute by talking at the end was too rushed and simple. Yes, it seems so, but:

One, it's a show with an average of 50min per episode and writers are limited by the channels they broadcast in.

Two, they are grim reapers who's job is to save those that are in their last moments of committing the act. By that time, imagine a friend saving another in their last moment just by talking to them. That happens a lot, not only health professionals are part of that moment when it happens. Also, many can't even afford one at all, or don't want one. Etc.

So my point is that all ways here are valid. Could they have shown more of a mental health professional approach. Yes, indeed.

However, that doesn't make their way in the show wrong either. I mean, Ryeon could have been less aggressive like Choi, but again, is a show, and this world is full of different types of people with their own personality, nobody can judge someone else by their own standard of how someone should be like. And more specifically, is a Korean show, so according to what I have read so far about Korea when it comes to mental health, I think that the show did a good job in addressing the issue of suicide there and the need the country has as a whole.

I heard/read many times how people have killed themselves even after years of therapy. I personally know two people, one unfortunately did die, and the other one survived after the act because the hospital was quick enough. Both had mental health professionals helping them, and both committed the act anyways. Unfortunately this topic is not black and white, there's a lot of shades of grey in between.

I didn't mean for this post to be this long 🤯 I started to write something in specific and now I got a whole essay. 😅 The fact that when I have to do one at college I can't even write a page properly and for things like this I find my ways is just a joke 🤣

And that walk, I got in every episode for a bare minimum of 5 seconds per episode made me excited each time. 😅

I repeated each episode throughout the weeks many times just to see scenes between you and anybody else in the show. That's how much I had to compensate for the fact that you were almost non existent in it sir. 😅

I have to say that Lee Soo-hyuk just added another follower in his career because I'm about to watch anything this man has been on now. 😍 I mean, that man is stunning to watch talk, walk, and see how he looks at things with those eyes. 🤭

Like look at this...

I am very interested in learning Korean because I saw a few episodes in Spanish voice translation, and things were said differently than the English subtitles in many occasions, which I understand since the voice needs to be in synced with the mouth of the actor. However, I have read people say that the English subtitles many times are not as accurate either, so I hate not having the actual thing said translated properly 😅 I like watching shows in their original language because I feel like the tone of the words said are never translated with the same emotions into another language. How difficult is Korean? Asking for a friend 🤣🤣🤣

really proud of where i am mentally & emotionally right now after years of healing & growing. i worked so hard for my peace & enjoy my solitude. yes it gets a little boring sometimes & i wish i had someone to share moments with but my luck with women is terrible.

Hisoka as your best friend headcanons

I had a flurry of these all at once and just HAD to get them all down because I was enjoying them so much! I was mostly picturing myself as Hisoka’s friend in these scenarios. For reference I am a 5′4″ bi woman who is not remotely threatening in any way. If any authors find these then feel free to use them for fanfics also feel free to alter any of the “you” parts to fit more  to yourselves/your OCs. The rest is under a cut because I have no self-control and wrote far too much!

- YOU may think your best friend is that person you’ve known since you were 5 and spend every weekend with. Hisoka however, has decided HE is your best friend, and no, you do not get a say in this. (He also thinks of you as HIS best friend but will never actually admit that!)

- He will randomly appear in your house with no prior warning and just stay with you for up to several days at a time.

- The first time this happened it scared the life out of you and you hired a security firm to make your house burglar proof. Two weeks later you came home from work and he was on your couch. You hired another firm, the most expensive this time, and invested in a military grade security system. You ended up accidentally locking yourself out for 3 whole days while you got to grips with it. He STILL found a way in a month later. You’ve now given up and leave the windows open whenever you go out.

- When he does come for an impromptu stay, he’s a pest. He’ll use your make up, your toothbrush (even if you leave a spare out), eat all your food (forget any kind of meal planning) and uses all the hot water when he showers.

- When he leaves, you know he’ll return at some point because he ALWAYS leaves something of his behind usually playing cards, or jewellery.

- One time he left his shoes. That one was confusing, until you realised a pair of your own heeled boots were missing. His feet are a good 4 sizes bigger than yours. When he returned wearing them (and looking better in them than you) you asked HOW that was even possible. He just smiled and said “a magician never reveals his tricks.”

- You do kind of enjoy his visits though.

- He always brings wine, the good stuff not the cheap box stuff you usually buy, and you both drink A LOT of it.

- You tend to binge-watch awful TV shows together, usually Spanish tele-novelas (neither of you understand a word being said, but enjoy making up your own scripts and live for the DRAMA). Also some version of The Bachelor.

- Since meeting him your rent has mysteriously dropped to a quarter of what it once was... Hisoka won’t say what he did but promises your landlord is still alive.

- You’re both banned from the local casinos after he taught you how to cheat at various card games and you both went on a cheating spree together earning a sizeable fortune.

- You’ve gained some impressive first aid skills  - Hisoka doesn’t trust many people to patch him up after a fight, but you “have a gentle touch.”

- You both just... Throw things at each other. All the time (gently, not in Hisoka’s signature murder by playing card way).

- Sometimes he’ll text you at 3am. No words, just a silly cat video.

- Everything you do is a competition... One time, after making a New Years Resolution to get fit, you decided to go to the gym together... NEVER AGAIN! That man makes the gym instructors look like slobs.

- “Bungee gum” is officially a banned word in your house. You made a sign and everything.

- Hisoka is simultaneously the BEST wing-man you’ve ever had and the ULTIMATE cock-block. He set you up on tinder and manages to arrange dates with THE hottest people on there and if you’re out together at a bar he’ll somehow manage to set you up with anyone you show an interest in. BUT he also has a knack for either phoning you, or just strolling into your house at the exact moment things start to get spicy with whoever you’ve brought back. He claims it’s not deliberate, but his smirk and the sheer number of times it’s happened makes you suspect otherwise.

-  For all the meddling he does in your love life, you know relatively little about his. You do suspect there’s more to his “alliance” with Illumi than he lets on though, you’ve seen that little spark in his eyes whenever he mentions the assassin. You never push him for details though, you figure if you do he’ll either overshare to a sickening degree or he’ll get defensive and offended. You decide it’s safest to just leave it alone.

Yo Soy Betty, la Fea

So about a month ago I started watching this show as a form to entertain myself, in other words, ironically.

I was introduced to this novela by the Mexican version of it. I grew up with La Fea Mas Bella and during my depressive episodes that was my go to binge show. One day I was sitting on the couch, as one does, and Betty La Fea was on. I laughed for like a solid minute because I thought that acting was so serious that it was hilarious. See I was so used to the dramatics and comedy effects of the Mexican version that I thought the original was just too serious. So as a form to mock myself and the original novela I went on a search for it. Sadly here in the states the only way to watch this show is through NBC/Telemundo and the ads are just so long and it's not even the complete, all 335 aired episodes. Also for me the NBC website crashed to frequent it just made me miserable BUT that's not the point of this.

Hey, hi, I'm a writer.

I feel the need to say this because this show has... I am extremely fascinated by the writer Fernando Gaitan. I haven't seen any of his other works but this show alone is a masterpiece and I don't mean to say this because of the tropes, the moral, or the characters themselves but the mastermind to create so much detail into three minute scenes, the directing and the acting as well just add such a lovely splash of color, of life to this already beautifully written story.

I'm new to this already well established fandom and while I have read many breakdowns of characters, mainly Marcela, I haven't seen much regarding the story itself and many things said and done that foreshadow certain events.

For example, (I'm not sure what episode I'm on because I accidently bought the bootleg version of this novela so chapters aren't titled) This episode is the one when they offer Betty a 10% commission so that she can get Armando to do business with RagTela. The scene in particular however is when Armando is laying in bed with his fiancé, Marcela.

Now this becomes almost a regular thing that I noticed between the lives out of the office between Armando and Betty. We get back to back scenes of Armando with Marcela and then scenes of Betty at home with family or her friends that it becomes almost a way for the viewer, or if this were a book, the reader, to distinguish the difference of lives these two characters have. Though one could assume one is lonely because they don't go out or have a S.O and only work or count numbers is shown in a home with loving parents that are always worried about their child and present in her life and a loving best friend that shares the burden of being outcaste by society and finding the humor in it then we get scenes of a couple always arguing and then jumping into bed. Of a man that while his S.O sleeps lays awake with unheard questions, whose best friend is constantly placing temptations and pushing him to do wrong by his S.O, and whose parents aren't really present and ever only talk about the company or his relationship with Marcela to then again Betty. However in this part of the episode it's Armando awake while Marcela is asleep while Betty writes in her diary and we hear her monologue and then they both drift into sleep.

This becomes a ritual where the viewer can tell the clear line between these two characters and their own worlds.

Why do I mention this?

Because dreams are often, in the literary world, seen as prophecies or for the reader to interpret the future or the secret desires of the character. In other words, a form of foreshadowing.

Now in this episode Armando is laying in bed with Marcela, Betty is writing in her diary and the scenes switch between the both of them until we are taken to a dream. In the dream Betty is wearing a bright red dress with long sleeves, and a red hat with Armando in a black suit(I have theories based on the clothing they wear lol) . They're both dancing to tango. While Betty isn't watching him much, more concentrated in her movements, Armando is busy watching her. We then see him dip her, where she finally stares at him and they near for a kiss, just as they are about to kiss we hear Betty's name echo and she straightens up and walks away, while Armando is left there confused and alone.

Why do I think the mention of this dream is important?

Up until this we've seen Armando go from feeling indifferent about Betty. He is a terrible boss and constantly yells and mistreats her to then being fazed by her tears, to having moments of being a good boss and defending her. We begin to see a pattern of Armando's change towards her. Even before the terrible plan to use her is set and I believe that Fernando Gaitan used these dreams to not only give a break of humor and show Betty's crush towards Armando but to give the viewers a look into an otherwise unbothered, unfazed, and mysterious character's mind. AKA Armando Mendoza's own personal feelings towards Betty.

This is solidify by the dream they both share the night that Mario tells Armando about the plan to win Betty's heart to secure the company.

When we're learning to be good story tellers we're told that when writing you writer for yourself. The first draft is a huge info dump. While editing you take out all the unimportant factors and scenes, no matter how much you love that scene if it doesn't help with the plot, character development, or pushing the story forward, it's to be taken out of the story. Therefore most things are written with the intention to mean something. The cuts between Armando and Betty before we see this dream signify that it was both of them having the same dream.

I believe that this was the moment we start seeing the bend between their own worlds outside of the office.

Now, I'd love to have more cohesive analyses of the episodes because this is as if a book came to life. A lot of people in the fandom believe that Armando wouldn't had ever fallen in love with Betty had it not been for Mario who told Armando to make Betty fall in love with him to secure the company, a lot of small details in the character development and the story say otherwise and I have no one to talk to about these small details so maybe this blog might change from being a writers blog to the occasional fandom reblog to now being an analytical commenter of Yo Soy Betty, La Fea.

Even if no one ends up reading this, I need to get it out of my system so until next time.

I have come to confirm that I am completely and honestly depressed so I decided that I was going back to my roots, so I started by watching La Fea Más Bella.

It's a Mexican rendition of the original one that was made in Columbia until later on it was made into the US version.

I've watched both the Columbian and Mexican version and they are both memorable.

But I am biased to my roots and I wholeheartedly believe that the Mexican version is better.

I just love this show its so good and so bad and just watching this makes me feel like a child again.

My mama and I just binge watching these novelas together just makes tears spring up.

So I'm just going to say that Fernando was so dumb like he trusted Letty so much it was crazy like sir you dumb slut you can't give her the company like that.

It just makes me think that Fernando always liked Letty from the very beginning but joked around about how ugly she was because he didn't want to say anything about it.

Also the Columbian opening slaps so hard a whole bop, but both opening and ending song slapped as well.

The fact that he's letting her sit in meetings and especially those he's having with his vice president just shows that this man was too dumb to be made the companies president but also the best thing that happens to it as well.

This show is consisted of 301 episodes so I am in for the dramatic Mexican plot ride.

Seriously give it a try.

Also when I was young I had such a huge crush on Jaime Camil and now that I'm older I'm salivating at this man being 10 times hotter.

Like damn this man makes me feel things I swear.

Also can I just say that the Columbian versions went all out making Thomas a snack, and Mexico made him into every girls living incel nightmare.

Teresa VS Rubi

I haven't watched a telenovela since like 2007. I feel like Rebelde was the last one I saw. However, I hold on to a couple of novelas that I thought were outstanding, such as Rubi. With the years, I've come across a lot of talk about 'Teresa' and I wondered why it had the same premise as Rubi. I was slightly intrigued. I learned that the story of Teresa came first back in the day, then Rubi. On social media such as tiktok and youtube, people are always comparing both. I kept saying that obviously Rubi was better because it was the one i watched. So in order to not be THAT biased, i decided to give Teresa a shot. So i just binged the entire novela in a couple of weeks. So here are my 2 cents.

Intro:

Song: Esa hembra es mala- Gloria Trevi

With the songs alone, I will still have to give it to Rubi's intro song. I feel like it was more seductive and more true to what the novela was going to be about. On the other hand, Teresa's theme song felt like it would be more appropriate for Rubi. Because it was sang from the point of view of the 'betrayed friend'. Although you can argue that the betrayed friend was Luisa and that it would be from her point of view, but that only happened towards the very last episodes, so it wouldn't really make sense for it to summarize the entire novela as Reyli's song did.

Furthermore, I enjoy Rubi's intro more, especially the beginning were is says 'Una obra de ..." it makes it seem fancy and like I'm in for a special treat.

The actress

Barbara Mori vs Angelique Boyer

I know I'm going to sound like a jerk by comparing their physical appearance, but I'm going to do it anyway.

Face

They are obviously both beautiful women, but in MY opinion, Barbara Mori's face is more seductive without even trying. She reminds me so much of Megan Fox. On the other hand, Angelique's face is so youthful that she has to work extra hard and make over the top gestures to act out the seductress role.

Body

Although they both have fantastic bodies, they are very different from each other. Once again, Barbara's body gives off a more sensual and natural look. Even the way she moves is a perfect embodiment of Rubi. Angelique once more has a more youthful small body, and the main thing that makes her 'hot' is her boobs, which look really fake and it doesn't play into the story since she's suppose to be poor. Rubi didn't have much of a chest, but she still managed to appear more naturally seductive. Teresa was just constantly exposing her chest to appear seductive.

Acting

Barbara Mori's acting was excellent. She made me feel like thats how she was in real life. Everything came natural to her. Angelique's acting was all over the place. She really had to OVERACT to put her point across. Everything about the novela in general was overacted actually. Angelique had to do over the top facial expressions to show when she was scheming, when she was talking down to people or when she was in love. She came out looking like a cartoon character as opposed to Barbara that made her character seem like a real person.

Story

I've already made this post way longer than i expected and there's so much more that I want to talk about out so I'm just gonna have to shoot out random points:

Evil

I feel like they were both equally evil. They both were horrible to their families, to the men they loved and to their friends. I can't really make my decision on who was worse. I will hand it to Teresa though that she worked and studied hard to have a degree and was an excellent lawyer. However, I've seen arguments that mention that she was smarter that Rubi and relied on her brains instead of her body to get ahead. But thats not true. Sure she had a degree but she didn't get far because of it at all. She did the EXACT same thing that Rubi did, got ahead with her body provoking a rich guy. Sure she played the long game but at then end she did the same thing, not just with Arturo but with Fernando as well. She seduced him, nothing to do with her brain.

Ending

Rubi's ending was EXCELLENT. It has stayed with me for a long time because we finally have a main character that didn't win at the end. She got what she deserved. She lost the man she loved, she lost all her money which is what she fought the most, she lost her beauty, and she lost her beautiful body. EVERYTHING, and it was just excellent.

Teresa's ending left me baffled. She ended up with the man she loved after everything that she did. People may argue that she changed and felt remorse for what she did, but come on. She didn't even suffer for that long. She only regretted things because she was caught and exposed, otherwise she would've never changed. Also the fact that Arturo came to her after what she did to his sister is disgusting. Sure forgive her for what she did to him, but to his innocent sister? Seriously??? I get it, that they wanted for them to have a happy ending since the actors were dating in real life, but that just makes bad story telling.

Plot

It kind of gave me the impression that Teresa was going to follow a similar plot to Rubi's in the sense that Teresa was going to stay in love with Mariano all the way til the end, and that at some point when Teresa was not going to have any more money, that Mariano would now be super rich and prestigious but would want nothing to do with her like in Rubi. Although that would've been a Rubi copy, it would've been a better route to take. Because then other elements seem pointless. Something that I do admire more from Teresa was the fact that Mariano fell in love with Aurora, because in Rubi, it felt like Alejandro, although he married Maribel, it never seemed like he truly loved her. It was more like he cared for her. So i was so ready for an awesome ending to where Teresa was trying to stop the wedding and be suffering because the love of her life no longer loves her. That would've been so satisfying to watch and Mariano's wedding would also be triumphant because he overcame his temptation....however, that didn't happen. Teresa didn't even care, so it makes the wedding kind of pointless to the story. It really felt like 3 quarters of the novela they were building it up that triumph moment, but instead it felt like they changed the direction of story to fit in the real romance between Angelique and Sebastian. To be honest, Arturo's ending should've been the same as his counterpart role in Rubi.

In Summary. I have a lot more bones to pick with Teresa, but the ones that come to mind, are probably mostly the acting, not just of Angelique but of the cast. I think many of them were new actors or something, but their acting was horrible. I can really tell who was new and who was a veteran. Having said all of this, I DID enjoy watching Teresa. I know it may seem like I'm just hating on it and like I didn't enjoy it, but I really did. The first few episodes were really boring but after a while it was hard for me to stop. In one day I would go through 10 episdoes.....bruh, those are like 10 hours a day dedicated to Teresa. It was intriguing and interesting, especially many of the elements that were different from Rubi, such as her becoming a lawyer and her ways that she helped unmask Ruben.

In conclusion though, I do see Rubi as superior. A superior actress, a superior story and superior ending. Maybe a bit is from nostalgia but I did give Teresa a fair chance. Although entertaining, it was not what I would consider a good novela.

Oh boyyyyyy. GoT and Rise of Skywalker always make me realize that frankly we got off okay with Endgame. 

“The enjoyment of experiencing a story should not be ruined by knowing how it ends” and I can safely say that I can still watch almost all of the marvel movies and totally have a good time even tho I know how fucked up endgame was. Even Endgame has some *chef’s kiss* moments.

Tony collapsing like he’s in a novela after LITERALLY shoving his heart into Steve’s hand. Tony and Steve in general were just wow. Wow we waited 10 years and finally. Loki making fun of Steve yet again. Always fun. Always great. Thor using Mjolnir as electrical paddles. We stan a doctor. The Hulk being like “This is so humiliating” or whatever I’ve only seen it twice. The love hate relationship with the big GIRL POWER moment. Carol’s butch haircut. Valkyrie having a flying horse for some reason even tho that is the one fact I cannot get past in the movie like how?? HOW??? The horses would have to have been from a different planet bc they didn’t have them on Asgard anymore or at least they weren’t carted away in the ship in Ragnarok and as far as we saw all the Valkyrie were murdered and she wouldn’t have had one on Sakaar bc it would have been eaten by the Garbage-Sakaarians and there certainly aren’t flying horses on earth. Bitch where did you get YOUR RIDE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So it still has really great moments but the shitty parts really outweigh it. 

BUUUUUUTTTT. I can still go back to Iron Man 1/Iron Man 3 or TWS or Civil War even or Ragnarok and go yes. YESSSSSS.

I’ve had this story in my head for a little over a year and it was literally in my drafts titled “She’s Like the Wind”, so when I saw your challenge, I knew I had to participate!!! 

I’m so sorry it’s late!!! I really struggled in deciding whether or not to make it a WOC!Reader fic. And then it turned into an OC fic. And then went back Latina!Reader. And then it turned into a vague Reader fic, but my brain just wouldn’t let me write it that way. 

This quarantine has given me a lot of time to binge Spanish novelas on Netflix. So I finally settled on making a Mexican!Reader fic. You can totally use the QUEEN Selena Quintanilla as the face claim. It’s how my brain pictured the Reader. But you do you!!! I’ve got a little bit of everything planned for this story. It will definitely read like a Spanish novela!!!

Bucky looked at himself in the mirror. The bags under his eyes were a dead giveaway of the sleep that eluded him for the past two weeks. His hair was dirty and haphazardly thrown into a bun. He sighed as he walked away from his reflection and made his way down to the training room.

Steve eyed Bucky as he made his way to a punching bag.

How could he have been so stupid?

Punch.

He remembered fawning over every dame that crossed his line of sight. But this was different. She was so different.

Punch.

And he had to go and fuck it all up!

Bucky swung at the bag ferociously until it split open and sand spilled onto the floor.

“Buck, that’s the fourth bag this week!”

“I can’t stop thinking about her!” Bucky paced in front of the broken bag. His hands fisting in his hair. “Steve, I told Y/N I was in love with her. I put myself out there and she left!”

“You did what?! Bucky, she was in New York on temporary assignment! You knew this!”

“I didn’t plan on falling in love with her!!!” Bucky snapped at Steve.

“Buck,” Steve pulled his best friend into a hug. “What happened?”

“I freaked out when she said she was leaving and it all came out.”

“What’d she say?”

“What do you think she said? She’s gone back to California to her fiance!”

“So she’s still in love with him?”

“No, I don’t think so.” Bucky whispered under his breath. He felt defeated.

“Huh? Whaddya mean?” Steve asked incredulously.

“You remember the night we all went out for drinks and I brought her home early after she twisted her ankle dancing on the bar counter?” Bucky began to tell the account of that night, “God, I was already in love with her then.”

Y/N was snuggled against Bucky’s chest as he carried her up to her room. Bucky laid her gently on the bed. He looked down at her and his chest tightened.

“Bucky, what’s wrong with me?” She sat up with tears in her eyes.

“Nothing’s wrong with you doll. You just twisted your ankle. You’ll be good as new in a couple of days.” Bucky reassured her.

She started sobbing, “No no no no. What’s wrong with me Bucky? Why can’t I bring myself to marry Mateo?”

“Y/N, you guys are engaged. You’re getting married soon.” He sat on the edge of the bed.

“No. I postponed the wedding again!” Y/N blubbered.

“That’s ok. Why’d you postpone? What’s going on?” Bucky asked. Y/N shook her head.

“He is so good. He’s kind and sweet. He comes from a good family. But God, I am so unhappy!”

“Then why stay with him? Why are you going to marry him if you’re not happy?”

“I have to marry him. I promised them.” Y/N sank back down into the mattress and curled to her side away from Bucky.

“Doll, you don’t have to marry him. Who did you-” Bucky was met with Y/N’s quiet snores. He got up from the bed and covered her with a blanket. Bucky took one last look at the woman in front of him and left quietly.

“Buck, she was drunk.” Steve argued.

“I know, but you should’ve seen her. She’s not in love with him.” Bucky rested his head against the wall and sighed.

Y/N wrapped herself in a warm blanket and sat on the windowsill watching the wind blow through the trees.

Y/N had isolated herself for the past two weeks. She kept replaying her last night with Bucky over and over in her head. The feel of his lips. The way her body responded to his kiss. The desperate way he told her he loved her. The way he yelled at her.

“Tell me that you love me too!”

“He doesn’t make you happy. I do! I know I do.”

“Am I a fool to believe that I have anything you need?”

Y/N curled the blanket around her tighter and cried. After a few minutes she let out a frustrated yell. She had cried so much for the last two weeks during her self imposed isolation. She was tired of crying. Y/N stood up and paced around her living room. She was going crazy alone with her thoughts in the small apartment. She knew she couldn’t hide from the world forever.

Y/N stopped and entertained the idea of running away and starting fresh with a new life and new identity. She could do it. She knew people. You didn’t become a computer scientist as good as she was without knowing people. Hell, she had been sought out by Tony Stark for her skills. She would be free.

Y/N started pacing again. She couldn’t do that. She had to go back home. She had responsibilities and duty. The perfect Mexican daughter lived at home until marriage. But what if she didn’t want to be that anymore?

Now there was so much more to consider. The conversation she had with Tony had left her unsure of what she wanted.

“Hey Baby Houseman? Friday said you were in the lab.”

Her hair was up in a messy ponytail and her eyeliner was smudged.

“Are you ok? Were you crying?” Tony kneeled down by her side.

Y/N shook her head. “I’m fine. I’m good. What’s up Tony?”

“Are you sure everything is ok?”

“I’m good Tony.” Y/N snapped.

Tony nodded, “I have a business proposition for you.” He sat on the lab desk in front of her.

“I’m listening.”

“Come work for me. I want you to be Stark Industries’ computer network architect. You’d make communication and use of technology easier for the company to use.”

“Tony, you have your AI system, what do you need me for?” Y/N was confused.

“I want to put you in charge of Friday’s operational system.”

“Tony! I can’t take over control of Friday. Friday is your brainchild! Your baby!” Y/N gasped.

“That’s why I need you. I’m not getting any younger Y/N. Pepper and I want a family. I’m ready, but I can’t make the same mistakes as my father. In order to do that, I need to delegate responsibilities. I can’t let the company take priority over my family. That’s why I need you. You’re the only one I trust for the position. What do you say?”

Y/N stayed quiet in disbelief. “Can I think about it? I need to go home and talk to my family about it. My fiance is in California.”

Tony nodded, “Sure, take the time that you need. We’ll talk when you’re ready..”

Y/N sighed. When had her life become such a mess? The weight of her responsibility and duty and honor was steadily crushing the levity of independence and her dreams.

Lost in her thoughts, she hadn’t noticed her phone buzzing.

Shit.

10 missed calls from “Madre Mia”.

Shit.

Another call came in.

“Hello?” She knew she was in trouble the second she answered.

“Y/N L/N! I have been calling you! Porque tienes un pinche telefono si no lo contestas?!”

“I’m sorry Mami. I was busy.”

“Oh too busy for your own mother?”

“No Mami. I’m here. We’re talking now. What’s up?” Y/N sighed pinching the bridge of her nose.

“You need to come home. Now.”

“Mami, I’m still working-”

“Don’t lie to me Y/N! Que crees, que tengo cara de estupida? I know you’ve been done for two weeks!”

Shit. Y/N was really in trouble. How did they find out?

“Mami-”

“You need to get home now! Estoy harta! You’ve pushed your wedding back too many times. You’re getting married in two weeks.” There was no room for negotiation in her voice. Y/N knew her mother had been pushed beyond her limit.

“Mom, I can’t. Tony offered me a job! It’s a really good job and I want to take it!” Her voice went a little high. The same way it always did when Y/N tried to get her mom to understand.

“No me importa. We’re done playing your games! Your father and I let you postpone because you wanted to go off to school. Ok. We indulged you when you postponed because you said you wanted a doctorate. Fine. We even let you go to New York to help The Avengers. You’re done. You have things to take care of here at home.”

“Mami, please! I promise-” Y/N was not done trying to bargain for her freedom.

“No Y/N! You are marrying Mateo in two weeks. Todo ya esta listo.”

Y/N was old enough to make her own decisions. She was accomplished. She could handle her own! “Mom, I am 26 years old! I have a doctorate! You can’t-”

“Y qué? Crees que tu te mandas sola? No. You are a L/N. You will do as I say as long as I run this family.”

Fine. That’s how she wanted to play? Y/N was done being nice. Now she was going to be heard. “I thought it was Papi that ran things.”

Y/N wiped away her tears. The severity of her situation made its home in her chest.

It was her freedom or her sisters. She had to choose between her dream job or family duty. She had to choose between herself or Luisa and Blanca.

The decision wasn’t an arduous one. She knew what she had to choose. Y/N made her way to her room to start packing her bags.

Tbh I’ve become also a fan not too long ago so I’m not as detailed as the others but I can say that I’m pretty much catching up with the old stuffs and current ones so I know things at a decent level.

I feel like the majority of the FF7 fandom supports Cloti and Zerith so you’re not the only one who feels that way. So back to your question. I’m not sure what and where did Nojima said that but I’m guessing you’re referring to the matter about Maiden

Let’s be clear. Nojima NEVER said or confirmed they were lovers. Why would Nojima even bother confirming them as lovers when in the first place they’ve never had any romantic relationship. That’s a fact btw 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s just the cult extremists misinterpretation. The Novela wasn’t even written by Nojima or the others. What people should also know is that it is written from Aerith’s point of view, not Nojima. So all the things that those haters say about their bible is like 95% not accurate, no offence lol. Why is that? It’s because they always try to find a way to twist something just to suit their narrative and for ship purpose, especially, use their lies to show as evidence at how canon their ship are. But anyways, Maiden is based on Aerith’s thoughts and feelings, not Nojimas. He even confirmed that he won’t let his personal opinions come through in a novela.

So here’s the thing, in the Novela it says that initially Cloud caught Aerith’s attention because he was too similar to Zack’s appearance, personality, and gesture wise. So let’s say she liked Cloud because she saw Zack in him. Eventually, over time she grew closer to Cloud and knew what was going on so at a certain point she internally realized her own feelings and that she liked Zack but she had grown to love Cloud even more for who he was. But personally, I don’t think what she feels is really romantic, by that I mean she is very attracted to Cloud and also has feelings for him but she ain’t gonna act on those feelings because it’s not what she prioritize and knows she has a bigger responsibility. She even admits that she was jealous of Tifa because she’s the only who can help and bring back Cloud. Some extremists even say that hopefully in the remake Aerith would be the one to save Cloud 🤦🏻‍♀️ That can’t happen first of all and second, why is Tifa the only one who can help Cloud? Because she’s the only one who has real connection between real Cloud and ‘fake’ Cloud! I don’t exactly remember who (Nojima, Nomura, or Kitase) said it that Cloud MIGHT have been better off with Aerith if all the chaos hadn’t happened, but that’s not the case at all, it’s just a mere supposition.

If you notice in the devs interviews, they always say or mention like “Cloud was a friend of hers” “A Important friend”, there’s always the friend word. This whole entire thingy could also be seen as like a one sided love but hey.. there will always be people saying “But he had feelings for her” WELL let’s say he was confused at some point. Aerith even says in the remake that even if Cloud thinks (confusion) he has fallen in love with her it’s NOT REAL (she’s talking about what he feels), which is a foreshadowing. After Cloud made it back from the lifestream and he is himself, he said that it was ALL AN ILLUSION. So we can say that what he felt for her was all an illusion. I’m not tryna undermine what bond Cloud and Aerith have but if I have to be honest I don’t sense any romantic relationship but more like a SPIRITUAL connection. So in conclusion, NO, Cloud and Aerith were and are not lovers. It’s all an exaggeration and desperation coming from the other side for Cloud x Aerith to be recognized as lovers and not Cloud x Tifa 😙🍵

“Nena, no,” he huffed, and Cesar let out a scandalized gasp. 

“I don’t get why you’re so mad,” Ximena went on. “You haven’t watched that novela in a month-”

“I was going to binge it when it was over!” Cesar said, and went on, his voice bordering a wail, “and now it’s gone!”

“Can’t you do the… the…” Bucky struggled to recall the word he needed. “Netthing.”

“Netflix?” Ximena supplied helpfully, and he nodded.

“Netflix.”

Cesar made a face, as though he couldn’t believe Bucky could be so slow about things, despite the whole barely existing for seventy years thing. “No, you can’t. I’m gonna have to wait for reruns. Like a peasant.”

“Maybe you should have thought about that before you let the DVR fill up, you dumbo,” Ximena said, and again Bucky huffed.

“You, stop being a brat,” he told her, and she gasped. “You, stop complaining. It’s just a show.”

That, as it turned out, was not the appropriate thing to say, and this time he didn’t stop Ximena from calming the room.

Do you remember the feeling you had when we watch juliantina for the first time? Their first kiss? Waiting for Mondays for the novela?

I do! I actually do vividly remember, probably in far more detail than you care to know, when I tried it for the first time–both times. Yepppp. Twice! The first time I got an ask about it, I did actually try it and at the time, it was just the not great wlext subs and it was of course the opening scene where Juls and Lupe walked past Val and Lucho arguing and I was like, hmm, maybe not.

It was a couple of WEEKS later that I tried again and I remember that day perfectly. It was at the very end of December, when a bunch of holidays string together and work is slow because so many people are out. And around this time every year, I binge through something I’ve been saving. In previous years it’d been Heartless and then Crownies + Janet King (the first season) and then Los Vecinos en Guerra. It’d just become something of a tradition to watch these very canon very satisfying f/f stories during that break.

This year, since New Year’s fell on a Tuesday, we didn’t get Monday off. So I was sitting there the Sunday before, trying to find something to do that wouldn’t take that long and then got the second ask about trying Juliantina and was like you know what, this actually could be perfect. I started the clips again, still wlext, though i would discover some hours later that zeroty had started their subbing, but by that point I’d already passed what they’d done.

I had no idea what those two were going to mean to me. I hadn’t seen any gifs, at the time it hadn’t really caught on in SM so I went in completely blind and god, how they gripped me! I was swept AWAY by the chemistry, by how natural their dynamic was, how romantic the slow burn ended up being. I remember wanting to gif so many things, millions of tiny little things as well as all the epic moments, but I just kept on watching. And then it was Monday and the show was back on again. I still would have started giffing from the beginning, but it was the Monday of the 41st ep, which as you might remember, hit a pretty significant milestone in their relationship.

Obviously I didn’t understand the dialogue, but immediately I knew the significance of them returning to the pool. You don’t do thematic callbacks for no reason. And then they stopped floating and stood up again, laughing and I was just soooo….aahhhhhhh. 

Do you remember how long the buildup for that kiss was? How the laughter slowly drained away?

And it just went on forever 

and ever! I didn’t even know if it’d happen or not, what with censorship at all. Would they get interrupted again? 

Nope! This happened.

I wish I’d started watching earlier so I could have enjoyed the slow burn live, but I can’t help but love that was my intro to live viewing. Could you imagine not knowing this was coming?

The kind of blog I am now, this is far more representative of how I usually am, flitting from one show to the next, with perhaps Harlots, Killjoys, The Expanse, Killing Eve, and at one time, Corrie, The Rich Man’s Daughter, and, lol, The Mentalist, being the few exceptions. But Juliantina was in a class of its own. And I know it feels right now as if I’ve moved on, and I definitely don’t want to let down the people who’re still heavily invested and who send me asks and would still like gifs, I just…tend to focus on the most recent thing. With the most genuine of intentions, I’ll sit down to do something for Juliantina and wind up doing something else completely. At this point, I don’t want to make promises I can’t keep, but I really, really do hope to get through as many of the Juliantina asks and gifsets as I can, alternating them with newer media. So bear with me on that, guys. :)
