#witcherweekly: as is 1267, as is 2022

it will be the first of august tomorrow, the month in which baptism of fire takes place.

you've likely heard of dracula daily and the community it developed on tumblr... now get ready for...! witcher weekly!

because many of the events and scenes of the last three books in the witcher saga, baptism of fire, tower of the swallow, and lady of the lake either:

outright state a date (e.g., “… that was the twenty-eighth of august”)

a seasonal day (e.g., the september equinox)

a holiday (e.g., yule)

a moon phase (e.g., new moon (which is the first of every human month), full moon (which consistently occurs around the 17th to the 20th of each month))

or their date can be traced by statements from other scenes (e.g., “two weeks ago,” “twelve days have passed…”)

i’ve created a working calendar of the events of the latter half of the saga, from july 1267 to june 1268, from time of contempt (roughly, since i didn’t count may) to lady of the lake.

what will this look like?

until june 2023, i'll be posting excerpts from the books on the in-universe days they occur. i’ll tag these posts #witcherweekly (as a parody of “dracula daily”) so if you would like to tag filter or follow the tag, you can. (you can also turn on blog notifications, but i post things other than this series of posts of course, so it’s up to you 😅)

since i missed july, i suspect i’ll have to make a catch-up or summary post for the month… edit: here it is

i hope this will be something to connect on, something to unite fans and look forward to each week. i would encourage anyone who wants to use the tag to post about the ‘recent’ events of the books!

my considerations and limitations

i won’t post about every scene, because not every scene is given a specific date or can at least be reckoned or assumed to a specific date. i generally won’t post about events or scenes that have little basis for dates, included in this statement are scenes which occur in other places, in other times…

there are some months which are much less specific than others, for example, october has many relative dates (e.g., “since they had arrived in beauclair two weeks prior”) than september (e.g., “we haven’t even noticed it’s the twenty-fifth of september.”) i suspect when i get to these months i’ll begin to post approximations of dates rather than specific dates, and i will note this in the post.

i’ll post mostly about scenes from geralt’s company’s journey, yennefer’s dealings and individual search, and ciri’s trials. my calendar of events was born out of my own need to get organized and take note of where geralt’s hansa is when, for personal purposes — meaning i generally won’t post scenes that weren’t part of this. this is not a comprehensive list of everything that happens in these books, but rather my calendar of notes that i just wanted to share because i think it would be interesting to read chronologically.

i also won’t post the entirety of scenes, i will not be posting entire chapters. because primo, the witcher (unlike dracula) is not public domain and posting an entire scene would likely be grounds to get my blog terminated. secundo, it would be asides the point of trying to stir conversation about the books. i plan to abide by fair use, and post only as much of the scene as is necessary to communicate its general purview or ‘vibe,’ to get people excited about it. and tertio, each tumblr post is limited to 10 images.

i expect that if anyone actually is excited enough to follow along, they’ll have their own copies of the books to read — (and remember, the translations on archive.org exist…!)

i'll include chapter numbers, as the chapters are short enough to be considered a "weekly reading." i won’t include page numbers, since across translations and editions, page numbers are meaningless.

i’ll use the official english translations (boo!) ... because it’s what is available and consistent in quality, for better or for worse — i know there are so many issues with them. i’ll be trying to note mistakes in translation when i’m aware of them and the mistake is relevant to comprehension. for example, “nów księżyca” being translated to “full moon” instead of “new moon”… now, that is more significant to timing and events than something like the vocabulary being fantasy-british with “wench” or “maiden,” or jaskier being called dandelion but spelt like "dandilion," all which is rather annoying but rather inconsequential in the broader view of things.

i’m not the best at math, so i wouldn’t be surprised if i have made a mistake in my reckoning somewhere here or there. additionally, sapkowski contradicts himself on occassion (and i don’t mean with ciri’s travels explained in tower of the swallow, which intentionally mess with time, i mean actual contradictions or confusions). i'll try to note this when it comes up.

i also might miss a day or two. i have a life :^). but hopefully i won't fall off entirely! i'll try to schedule posts ahead of time so i don't miss days.

overall, this isn’t to be an end-all-be-all summary of the books, it’s just to prompt the fandom to consider baptism of fire, tower of the swallow, and lady of the lake as a chronological journey… and hopefully inspire some fun.

musings on why i’m doing this

i think it would be a good or at least interesting idea to post events from the witcher books in a chronological format. this is, yes of course, inspired by the success of ‘dracula daily’ and the various tumblr posts and thought that project stirred up. i saw many congratulate its success in uniting people around a written media and liken it to a book club.

my anecdotal experience in the fandom is that there tends to be less discussion, fancontent, and ‘buzz’ around the latter half of the saga (except for the fish soup scene). which seems unfortunate to me, because the latter books are very good and meaningful to the overall series, like, i can’t imagine ciri’s character without the tower of the swallow and her time spent with vysogota, yennefer’s search for ciri in skellige is fundamental to her character in terms of what she faces and endures at the hands of vilgefortz, and geralt’s company covers much more ground than the marshes of the yaruga: riverdell and the beekeepers?! the north case and its weird little mines?! caed myrkvid?! beauclair?! facing white death on malheur, mortblanc, and the sansmerci passes? the downpours of the sudduth valley?! the little town of caravista?! i'm very partial to their journey...

but i rarely see discussion and content about these parts of the books in comparison to the earlier parts of the books (the short stories, blood of elves, and time of contempt). i don’t know what it is, i suspect n*tflix’s interference has something to do with it, but the ‘why’ does not matter so much as knowing that it’s a problem i seek to help solve.

i hope this project could help build community around the latter half of the saga and appreciate the writing & the events of books in general.

Building my Liturgical Calendar 2023-2024

Sat in the sun for solstice yesterday. Didn't have a lot to do for it, but I was able to take a nap on the porch with the sun at my back and warm on my skin.

I think I've decided on some points/activities of my liturgical year. Here's my thoughts for the next calendar year. This is not 100% finished, as I want to incorporate more gods into my worship calendar, but this is a helluva start. My practice is pretty lax, and I want to tighten that up nowadays.

My baby boy Saga will have been with me for two years! I don't remember if this is specifically the exact day, but after checking my texts about getting him, I've decided on this date. He's such a good kitty cat. Ritual to Freyja. Get him treats and new cat toys.

Lokabrenna: August 20th, 2023. I used this In-The-Sky calendar calculator to find when Sirius would first be visible at my latitude. Here's some tips from the Reddit user I got the link from.

Not sure what I'll do, but I'll probably not be able to actually see Sirius in the sky. Maybe some like. fox shaped cookies or otherwise themed food and some cinnamon tea out on the porch? Maybe I'll write something and offer it to Loki. I don't have an altar, so since everyone will be asleep then (it'll be "visible" from 06:14 to 06:17 local time), I can use the table outside for some private time with Him. At any other time: bonfires are good, anything to do with flames.

Second full moon in a single month, also super moon. Ritual for Mani.

Gotcha day for Ríma: September 1, 2023

My baby girl Reems will have been with me for two years! Much like with Saga, I don't remember the exact date, but it was approximately a month after he came home. Ritual to Freya. Get her treats and new cat toys.

Dating Anniversary: September 15, 2023

The start of Beloved and I's official relationship. Ritual of thanksgiving to Frigg. Celebration of Beloved. Maybe do something with Loki and/or Sigyn, too? I read about a ritual of 'holding the bowl' for Sigyn that really resonated with me. What an act of devotion.

Birthday: Mid-September

Can I make something witchy here? I'm sure I can.

Autumnal Equinox: September 23, 2023.

Probably something food related? Something sun and moon or fall related. Apples, harvest, wheat, corn. Maybe dedicate a harvest food to Yngvi-Freyr. Hang out in the garden. Ponder the natural balancing/opposing forces: night/dark, summer/winter, spring/fall, etc. Joint ritual for Mani and Sól.

I've read that it's on the first full moon after the first new moon after the fall equinox. Something dedicated to Yngvi-Freyr, as thanks for the last of the harvest. More food. Something disir related? I've just read this article in Patheos's Happily Heathen column about the holiday. Definitely more research to be done. New year? Need more research.

Thanksgiving (USA): November 23, 2023

Secular "holiday", but still important to my family. Participate in prep for celebration, make something for dinner. Quality family time.

Geminids Meteor Shower: Estimated duration: November 19-December 24, predicted peak December 13-14

Do something witchy or just go stargazing and enjoy the beauty that is space.

Winter Solstice/Yule: December 21, 2023.

Ideas: Stay up all night to witness the coming of the dawn, stay up rest of day. Drink cocoa with marshmallows and cinnamon to stay warm through the night, moon/winter themed foods. A ritual to Mani and Odin. In the weeks leading up to Yule, make little gifts for friends and family. I made a handful of these felt goats last year!

Research more heavily into Yule being on the full moon after solstice. If that is the case, Yule will be on the 26th.

Christmas: December 25th, 2023

Not heathen, and basically secular in my family, but important to my people. Gifts, tree, sweets/food, etc. Quality family time. Maybe find a way to go volunteer somewhere. Lord knows my fam makes me crazy.

Vernal Equinox: March 19, 2024.

It's too early for the garden, so I'm not sure what. Maybe go buy some flowers for Grandma? Try to get out in the sun, if it's not too cold. Ponder the natural balancing/opposing forces: night/dark, summer/winter, spring/fall, etc. Joint ritual for Mani and Sól.

April Fool's Day: April 1, 2024.

Trickster and well-meaning pranks day. I'm not really one for pranks, so I'll probably just read some stories of about Loki. The story of Thor's wedding, anyone?

Sigrblót: April 23, 2024

Fourth full moon after the first new moon after the winter solstice, as calculated by using timeanddate.com. Three day-three night festival marking the beginning of summer. Food and celebration, for sure. Source some mead? Probably able to work in the garden.

Mother's Day: May 12, 2024

I kinda want to do some genealogy work with mom. Maybe make a list of my ancestral mothers and reflect on their lives a bit, think about how their lives went to make it possible for me to be born. Celebrate mom. Well. She doesn't much care for celebration, but I'll try to do something more than "here's some money for buying books".

Memorial Day: May 31, 2024.

My grandpa was a vet, so if next year is like this year, I'll go with mom and grandma to the cemetery to visit and clean/beautify the graves of him and grandma's side of the family. Doing this is about as close as I get to ancestor veneration. My family is Mormon, so reciting a prayer to Hel over their graves isn't super appropriate, but I have Her in my thoughts as I spend time amongst the headstones.

Pride: June 2024 (various)

Joint ritual to Fenrir as wrongfully oppressed and Loki as breaker of chains. Volunteer in the community for events and build frith.

Father's Day: June 16, 2024

Similar to Mother's Day. I want to do some genealogy work with mom. Maybe take him out for a movie and dinner. (This year's FD (2023) was pretty meh since I'm broke. I'm going in on a gift with my brother, and hopefully it'll arrive next week-ish.)

Stay up all day to witness the coming of the night, stay up rest of night. Eat/drink something seasonal (lemonade of whatever variety?), maybe fruity popsicles to stay cool through the day. Sun/summer-themed foods. A ritual to Sól.

Other non-calendar thoughts:

I want to start a formal reading and reflection of the Hávamál. Like... I don't know. The thing that immediately comes to mind is the practice of reading Bible verses and reflecting in a special journal. Maybe it's my cultural xtianity speaking, but something like that appeals to my desire for structure.

Likewise, do a formal reading of the sagas/eddas.

Do more research into holy days and occasions for Odin, Hel, Fenrir, Loki, Sigyn, Jormungandr, and maybe Bragi.

Dedicated magical creativity sessions, maybe?

Monthly offerings to gods.

Something for landvættr.

Do more space witchery! It's good for the soul!

Build frith through the community using regularly scheduled volunteer activities.

AITA for wanting my son for my bday wknd?

Background: I split custody 50/50 of my 11M son with my ex 34M. My 30th birthday is coming up on the 20th of May.

My ex texted me tonight and asked if he can take my son to FL with his GF for my sons Bday (which is in august btw) may 18-21. I reminded him that that’s actually MY birthday weekend so we are picking him up early on the 19th to have him for my real birthday on the 20th. All of which is shown on our parenting schedule that we both have. He then asks if he can have the next weekend instead. I sent him a screenshot of our parenting schedule and said no that we have him for Memorial Day as well. I ask if there’s really no other weekend in the entirety of the summer he can take him. He responds a little while later saying his GF has already booked a condo starting on the 18th and they’d loose that money and the only other weekend for the summer they could make work is in July but is double the price. He acknowledges that he fucked op because he has all the same access to our parenting schedule as I do (not mentioning the fact that we were married for 7 years and have only been divorced for 3 so I feel like my birthday should still be a little bit of a memorized date but whatever). He offers to trade me his birthday and another holiday to make up for it. But I REALLY want to say no because I feel like I shouldn’t have to sacrifice time with my son on my birthday because he can’t get his shit together and look at a calendar! We coparent great together and have minimal issues but this is really getting under my skin.

EDIT TO ADD: my birthday weekend we have a cabin booked for a fishing trip which me, my son, and my current husband all enjoy. We did it last year and our plan is to do it yearly. Def should have added that to the original post. On Memorial Day we also have our extended family camping trip with pretty much all my family. Aunts, uncles, cousins. We plan it each year based off mine and my cousins parenting schedule either on Memorial Day or 4th of july and this year we both have our kids on Memorial Day. I don’t think my ex’s GF is being intentional. She is very kind and genuine and wouldn’t have any idea what my birthday was unless my ex told her.

Plans for My 2022 Summer Solstice

Hello there! It's that time of year again. That's right. We're coming up on the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, aka Litha, aka Midsummer, aka one of my favorite natural phenomena that I've come to love celebrating.

Seriously, I enjoy it far more than Yule or Christmas or [insert other holiday normal folks love more than I do]. If I had to rank my favorite days of the calendar in relation to my spiritual journey, it would go Halloween, the Summer Solstice and the Fall Equinox.

Anyway, because work has been especially busy for me this past few months and I'm well overdue for a mental timeout, but can't take one until July, I'm trying to make this a bit more reasonable and relaxed compared to the last 2 Midsummers I celebrated in 2020 and 2021.

Famous last words, right?

This year's solstice weekend also falls on the same weekend as Juneteenth and Father's Day here in the US. And I'll be visiting my folks that Sunday before Litha to enjoy some good food, games and movie watching. (As well as sneak in a load of laundry.)

But when I return home, I hope to spend as much of the next 2 days as digital free as I can. I mean, I'll need my DVD player to run my Pilates workout, and I'll probably listen to music or a podcast while I cook dinner.

But I really want to try to detox a little bit and focus on simple joyful activities that don't involve a TV, computer, or the internet. So below you'll see me list things like: read my book (printed, not digital); listen to vinyl records; paint; ride my bike in the park; etc.

It's a way to fill the day with joyful experiences while also allowing my senses to connect with what truly moves me in the analog world. And hopefully with fewer EM field emissions.

Without further ado, here's the plan so far ...

The calendar as we know it today is wrong, and stupid, and I fixed it.

To start with, the months now go as follows: January, February, March, April, May, June, September, October, November, December, July, August. I am willing to entertain proposals for renaming the last two, who gives a shit about Julius or Augustus. Fuck those old Roman assholes.

Next, A week is now 5 days long. The days of the week are, in order: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Tuesday was always the weakest name, and while I like Thursday (and did in fact consider giving it Monday’s slot), Monday and the others all have cultural connotations that I think a make them worthwhile. Saturday and Sunday are still the weekend, Friday is still the pre-weekend day people (apparently) thank god for, Wednesday is still in the middle, and that one cat can still hate Mondays. A stereotypical work week will be 3 days.

Furthermore, a month is now exactly 30 days long. Every month from here on will consist of 6 5-day weeks, which is very satisfying, and an incredible improvement over the dogshit ‘four and a bit and the bit is inconsistently long’ thing we have going on right now. God I hate the current calendar.

Most years are 365 days. With 12, 30-day months, there are 5 days left over, a neat week. This week, which will come at the end of August, shall be referred to as X-tra Week. X-tra week is a chill time. Just relax. Responsibilities should be placed on hold. Anyone expected to work during X-tra week should receive significantly increased compensation.

What about leap years? I’ll tell you about leap years, give me a second. Okay, so, every 4 years, a day will be placed between the Monday and Wednesday of X-tra Week. This day may be referred to as X-tra Day or Radical Tuesday, depending on your preference. Unlike the rest of X-tra week, X-tra day should be considered an opportunity to have a wild time. Leave your comfort zone. If you want. I’m not a cop.

Holidays will be placed on the day that is the same number of days from the beginning of the year. Shit like Easter is the pope’s problem not mine. Thanksgiving is abolished. (I should note that I am only fixing the gregorian or whatever calendar here). I know this may require some adjustment (i.e., it’s weird that Halloween is July 3 now) but I earnestly believe that it’s worth it for my personal appeasement.

I refer to this as the X-tra Week System, and expect it to be adopted shortly. Today is Sunday, January 20th. Thank you for your time

Figured I'd get a head start on this since I'm taking tonight's full moon as an opportunity to clean/cleanse my apartment, have a little wine, and update my calendar with witchy events through the end of next year. :>

As always when I make these kinds of posts, if the peak of the full or new moon is in the wee hours of the morning on one day, I enter it into my calendar as the day before, since that is the night I will be celebrating even though it technically falls on the next day.

If you could design a Pokemon Game, what major things would you implement?

I’d take all the time usually spent animating story cutscenes and writing a JRPG plot and add a real-time calendar with yearly events. Here’s just a few ideas off the top of my head.

Your Birthday, Set During New Game - A party is held at the player’s house, with the player’s mother, rival, friend, and Ace Pokemon (Ace can be marked with a special flag).

Every Two Weeks - A single route in the game has it’s Wild Pokemon randomized for one day.

Every Month - Fishing Contest in a coastal city. Chance to find extremely rare Water Pokemon.

New Year’s Eve - New Year’s Festival. Fireworks and a base 15% chance to encounter Shiny Pokemon during the night. Find your Ace Pokemon during the festival to acquire the Shiny Charm (1st Time), or a free Hyper Training bottlecap (After acquiring Shiny Charm). Dream and Cherish Balls can be bought during this festival.

Valentine’s Day - Love Festival. Different events based on who you decide to go with, celebrating platonic, familial or romantic love. In the case of the Rivals/Friends you get to choose which of these it will be. Find your Ace Pokemon during the festival to acquire the Oval Charm (First Time), the Destiny Knot (2nd Time) or a free Hyper Training bottlecap (after acquiring first two). Love and Friend Balls can be bought during this festival.

February (Entire Month) - Iris can be battled, with a team that is scaled to the level of your Ace Pokemon. If you win, you’re given a free Dragon Type Pokemon.

March 8th - If your character is female, you can battle Cynthia and Diantha in a city. Beating them will give a female Gible and Ralts respectively.

March 21st - Spring Festival. Bulbasaur, Floette and other flower-based Pokemon are more common in the area and Pokemon can be taught their Egg Moves from a special tutor found in the festival. You can put a flower crown on your Ace Pokemon.

March 31st - Bring a Gardevoir or Hatterene to a small festival in the player’s home town. You can also buy Dawn and Dusk Stones here.

April 2nd - Attend a festival in the 2nd Badge city. Team Plasma can be found here telling random people they need medicine. Make them leave.

June (Entire Month) - Catch rates for Pokemon of the same gender as the one you use in battle is increased to 8x regardless of Ball. Love Ball increases this to 16x. A festival for Ho-Oh will be in one of the cities, where you can go to buy unique and rare items. Ho-Oh will arrive on the 30th to give a Sacred Ash to the player.

July 1st - A festival full of Bidoof, Oshawatt, Sawsbuck and Stantler.

October 31st - Spooky Festival! Bring an Amorphous Pokemon to dress them up in a costume and enjoy all the Ghost Pokemon coming out to play.

November 19th - There must be a festival somewhere. I mean you did tell Blue, Silver, N and Hau what today was, surely they must have actually cared...

December 20th - 30th - Holiday Festival. Light the Litwick, get a present from Delibird, and various other events based on all the different holidays found during this time of year. Do all of them, some of them, or none of them.

*arrives a month late*... Happy 2021 to all of you, my dear followers! *raises a glass* It seems that my tendency to finish my artwork or personal posts on time has only gotten worse over time (I blame work *lol*). Oh well, better late than never, since there are things I would still like to take with me from this extraordinary year of 2020.

It is cringeworthy that I have two huge red X-s this year. But after I'd put these puzzle pieces together, I remembered far too well what was going on in my (work) life at the time, so it's completely understandable why I didn't have the time nor the energy to draw at all during those two months.

What were those typical statistics that I wrote about again to compare the years? *goes to read last year's post*.. Oh, right! In 2020, I managed to finish 3 full digital drawings (from the months of April, July and December) as well as work on several sketches. I wrote 28,154 words worth of fanfiction (oohh, that's a lot better than previous year), plus 3,126 words in English (I dare say I wrote an equal amount in Estonian) for the prompts I got during UYLD (making the total 31,280 words, which is quite impressive!).

I finished reading the 1st Kyoshi novel in the evening of the 20th and slightly past midnight on the 21st December (barely before the holidays, but I set this goal for myself and I did it!). Am already looking forward to starting with the 2nd part some time this year. Besides that, I ordered and received all the other new Avatar books that came out (3rd part of "Ruins of the Empire", "Katara and the Pirate's Silver", "Legacy of the Fire Nation") as well as BOTH Avatar series DVD sets (I still can't believe I found these on sale on some random online store in Estonia, but these are now among my most prized possessions!).

I finally started my Avatar rewatch last January, but merely got to the Ba Sing Se episodes in Book 2 (I need to continue with "The Earth King") and now it's been 5 YEARS since I last saw Korra. Reading through my journal personal posts from last year, I know far too well that it's not about rushing through it as fast as possible. Instead, I should enjoy the ride and continue watching the episodes when I'm well rested and in the right mood. That way I'll end up feeling much more at peace.

As for the entire year as a whole? I don't think anyone in this world of ours was prepared for the way this decade would begin - with an uncontrollable pandemic, the virus of which is randomly attacking and threatening to wipe out the weakest amongst us. If any of you (or even if you know someone who) have lost a loved one to this plague, there is not much else I can offer but my sincerest condolences! Me, my family, friends and colleagues seem to have managed to avoid catching it so far. *spits 3 x over her shoulder*

I had such high hopes for this year in so many ways. Event-wise I was looking forward to watching the Eurovision Song Contest in May (where Uku Suviste was supposed to represent Estonia for the 1st time ever after so many unfortunate failures to get selected as the winner of our local competition), the European Football Championships in June (asking my colleagues which countries they support, perhaps make fun bets / guesses with them to see whose team would win the matches), the Tokyo Olympic Games in July-August, the President of Estonia (Mrs. Kersti Kaljulaid) coming to visit my hometown to celebrate our Victory Day by taking part in the parade together with the Defence Forces (after 15 years *sigh*)...

I will always remember my last big event, which took place when life used to be "normal", so to say. It was the 102nd anniversary of Estonia on the 24th of February, when I took part of all the most important celebrations in Tallinn on our Independence Day, FULL-TIME (whenever I scroll through my Facebook timeline, I see the photos I uploaded of that day, my heart melts and I smile fondly). But the day after that.. utter hell broke loose. We had our first infected person in the country.

I will also remember the last day I went to work in "normal" conditions. Friday, the 13th of March (typically my lucky day-number combination): I missed the tram I wanted to get on in the morning, at work my team received great news that one of our colleague's family had grown bigger by a new tiny member the day before, we had our last team lunch together, we discussed the safety measures that we should take and joked about what might happen next week, I took the bus home instead of the tram (as the tram's route came from the airport and that place was considered to be more dangerous and with a higher risk of catching this virus).. It was another 2.5 weeks later by then (since the 25th of February) - Estonia (along with the rest of Europe) went into full lockdown.

The beginning was frightening and people were on edge, nobody really knew what to do nor what was gonna happen next. But in time, things began to shake into place and everybody developed a comfortable routine for remote work, including figuring out how to get everyday things done (such as grocery shopping). I found solace in taking photographs of various beautiful bird species, who began to fly around and serenaded me during spring, visiting the trees around my "nest" i.e. rented apartment (with a pair of them ACTUALLY building a nest in the chestnut tree right beside my window, thus turning me into a protective godmother of their chicks).

To be honest, I was awestruck by the positive / surprising aftermath of this lockdown: how the world / environment began to heal itself from the pollution that was normally caused by humans. I was taken aback by how dead silent our usually loud capital became in my neighbourhood (I could only hear trams passing by my house according to their schedules, practically no cars whatsoever, streets were empty of people.. absolute silence).

By May-June, things started to look up in Estonia (as well as the rest of Europe) and people were allowed to start travelling / moving around more freely. During my vacation in July, I managed to go to my last (open air) event (for the rest of the year) under these new "corona" conditions and ended up having a blast at the Open Farm Days in my home county for the first time.

Our country's shining moment came during the first week of September, when we hosted the first ever Rally Estonia of the World Rally Championship (WRC), where our very own Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja won. The event was so well organized and successful that nobody caught the virus nor did the spectators / participants spread it to others, which surely must've helped in ensuring us a spot in the WRC calendar for 2021 as well.

The remainder of the year was rather dull, with the exception of the US Presidential elections in November, when we were all holding our breaths that Joe Biden would win (congratulations, my American friends!). This eventually led to the painful downfall of THE WORST government the Republic of Estonia has ever had, and to the rise of our first female Prime Minister, Kaja Kallas (both happening in January 2021, I couldn't believe it all spiralled so soon, ha-ha!).

Anyways, during the last 4 months, work was very stressful and driving me nuts, so badly that when I eventually went on vacation before Christmas, I had a slight anxiety disorder that wouldn't let me relax for several days (luckily it went away just as quickly once I began to take it easy and managed to get some proper rest / sleep).

In hindsight, I kind of get this weird feeling as if I saw this whole thing coming, given how actively I was living my life throughout 2019. My final year of the 2010's was so full of important events and personal achievements. It's almost as if something mysterious inside was driving me, telling me to visit all the places and do all the things I wanted to do, cause I wouldn't have this sort of a chance again for a very long time.

This must be the main reason why I am thankful for 2020 for going the way it did. Sure, I'm disappointed that a lot of events were cancelled, that so many people have had to leave this world so soon due to this unpredictable disease.. But I think there are so many lessons to take from what came out of all of this. I believe the world needed some sort of a restart or break, given in what direction we were headed (politically, economically, environmentally, socially etc.). I'm just sorry it's had to come with such a high price of innocent lives.

I have even higher hopes for 2021, given how amazingly January has already passed for me and my country, and what is to come in my hometown in February. Let's take the lessons learned from 2020 with us and keep on heading back towards the "normal" lifestyle we used to know. Except this time, let's improve our ways, put all the hatred behind us, be more considerate, keep a distance, stay safe, but still try to make the world a better place for everyone. Thank you so much for reading, for remaining by my side, and for your support and love throughout the years, my friends! I hope to see you all alive and healthy at the end of the white metal ox year of 2021! *virtual hugs*

MLB Dupain-Cheng Wedding and Marinette’s Birthday theory!!

An updated version of this theory can be found here. Some new info was revealed and I decided to talk about it.

Here I have developed two theories; when Sabine and Tom got married and Marinette’s Birthday. I have finalised two dates as to when they got married and when Marinette was born. This is pure speculation by the way, so take what I say with a grain of salt!!!

The Dupain-Chengs Wedding Date THEORY:

To figure out when they were married I gathered clues from all available episodes.

Lets start with “Timebreaker”! In this episode Sabine says they are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary with a special dinner. And since “Timebreaker” was in season 1, this episode is speculated to have occurred sometime sometime in February-April.

I have theorised that “Backwarder” is set in either April of 2011 or May of 2018 This is because Adrien, Gabriel, Kagami and her mother are going to attend a Royal Wedding in England. And Thomas Astruc must have been inspired by a royal wedding and since this episode aired in 2016, Astruc would not have known about Harry and Meghan meaning that Kate and William was probably his source of inspiration.

So if Tom and Sabine are celebrating their twentieth wedding anniversary in February-April 2011 or 2018, that means they were married in 1991 or 1998.

However in consideration to the style of Sabine’s dress, it is more likely to be in 1998. 1991 Wedding dresses were extremely puffy, most likely due to the after effects of the 80s fashion. Sabine’s wedding dress actually closely resembles the wedding dresses of the 2000s. Meaning that it is highly likely the wedding happened in 1998, here’s a photo comparison.

Basically since Sabine doesn’t look like any of the snow beast brides of 1991 and closer to 1998 wedding dresses, I think it’s a safe bet that it was set in 1998. FYI: I did loads of wedding dress research and her dress is closest to the 2002 bridal styles, especially with the BOHO-chic fashion trend.

Now fun fact, this means we actually know when the exact date they were married because of Marinette’s calendar (which is basically Adrien’s Schedule) back in “Timebreaker”. The episode as we know starts off with Sabine talking about their 20th wedding anniversary. However in this episode, Alix and Kim have their rollerblade race, This is the only episode we know of to have rollerskating in it, and in Marinette’s calendar April 6th is marked as “Roller Time”.

This means that April 6th is the day that Tom and Sabine were married!! (And Alix’s birthday lol)

So this concludes that…

Tom and Sabine were married on April 6th of 1998.

Also this means that Tom married Sabine when he was twenty!!! Because he turned 40 in Bakerix which is set in 2018, we knows this because the events in “Bakerix” happen before "Backwarder", as the inauguration of Startrain is shown. And we know “Backwarder” is set in May of 2018, meaniNG BAKERIX IS HAPPENING IN EARLY 2018!!!!

Our bakery boi snatched his wife with that broom-stache at 20 holy moly. I wondered how old Sabine was, I think she might have been 19, making her 39 in “Bakerix”. Love to hear anyone’s theory on Sabine’s age.

This means that Tom and Sabine totally dated in high school. oMG SO CUTE!! Can’t wait to draw the art for that one!

The Date of Marinette’s birthday THEORY:

This theory isn’t as concrete as the previous but I had to do some hard core predications and assumptions!! So don’t take my word for it!

It took Tom and Sabine a couple of years before they had Marinette. Because we know she is 14 in “Befana”, that means she was born in 2003 or 2004 if this episode took place in 2017 or 2018. And according to the MLB wiki timeline, Befana takes place in July, meaning Marinette is born in July. No joke the wiki has a timeline.

If we look at her personality we can actually determine what part of July her birthday is on with zodiac signs!! July 1st to July 22nd are members of the Cancer zodiac sign, and July 22nd to July 31st, are a part of the Leo zodiac sign.

I did a little research for Cancer because as a Leo myself, I know that sign pretty well. And guys, “Cancers are born people-pleasers and emotional caretakers.” and not just that but “You’ll often see Cancer women busting their butts behind the scenes building props on theatre or movie sets, or as head chefs making magic in the kitchens of busy restaurants. These women prefer to work with their hands, and do work that they feel emotionally connected to, rather than spending hours staring at spreadsheets or mathematical abstractions.” (source:https://www.astrology.com/cancer-woman.html)

MARINETTE IS A MEMBER OF THE CANCER ZODIAC SIGN CONFIRMED SHE IS A CRAB!!!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE HER LIKE THAT I CAN

So we can confidently say her birthday is between July 1st and 22nd, we just gotta find the specific date!! Here’s another clue I found thanks to another birthday theory on Amino; In the Webisode "My Birthday Party", Marinette's voice over says "It's my birthday on Saturday". (In the English Dub)

Now the webisode was released in 2016, while “Befana” was released in 2017. In 2016 would have been 12 if Marinette was born in 2004, which is inaccurate as she was 13 when she received the miraculous. Meaning she is born in 2003 making her thirteen in 2016 the year of the webisode aired!!

Now if her birthday in that webisode was set in 2016, the Saturday’s between between July 1st and 22nd land on three dates. The 2nd, 9th and the 16th of July.

How do we narrow the three dates down to one I hear you ask? Well Kung Food is set sometime after July 14th according to this tumblr user, meaning we can eliminate the 16th because her Great Uncle would have mentioned her birthday but he didn’t.

Now that means it’s either the 2nd or the 9th. I think if we look at the school dates when the year “Befana” takes place we may determine her birthday.

So if Marinette is turning 14 in “Befana” and if she is born in 2003, that means “Befana” occurs in 2017. In the episode she talked about being at school that week, and “yesterday” she caught Nino listening to her fav song at school , however she did not mention being at school on her actual birthday. Which in 2017, Mari’s birthday is on a Sunday and I had to check but France does have Middle and High schools that choose to have courses on Saturdays. So we are deficiently in the right timeframe!

It occurred to me that July is when Summer Holidays begin for France. And according to this website, France’s summer holidays begun on July 8th in 2017.

Now if we rewatch “Befana”, we can see that the classroom is bare of any school work or posters. Now everyone who has been to middle or high school knows there are big clean ups that happen the day Summer Holidays begin. And that’s what I think we are seeing here. A completely clean classroom ready for a new year.

I can conclude then that Marinette’s Birthday is on the 9th of July, and she was born in 2003!! THE PROOF IS IN DA PUDDIN THAT IS ADRIEN LOL!

So to quickly resummarise this double theory of mine:

Tom and Sabine were married on April 6th of 1998.

and

Marinette’s Birthday is on the 9th of July, and she was born in 2003.

Wow I spent six hours researching all this and now I’m super tired, I’m posting these theories because I will be MIA during May and possibly June because of Exams and Assignments for Uni. Enjoy reading this and I hope to hear your opinions and thoughts!!

You guys...

I'm at a loss for words and I desperately need advice. I work at a company, (well worked) called White House Black Market. I was a sales lead and I loved every minute of that job. The people, the employees. That place became my second home and my family. (Not even just the generic way people say that, I come from a really dysfunctional home and I latched onto them like family because they treated me nicely.)

I was only part-time and needed full-time hours to move out, so I figured- I love the job, I love this store and what I do.. let me shoot for assistant store manager, which was one position above me. These past few months I've worked so hard. I worked hard to prove to my boss I could do it and that she could trust me. Yeah, I had a few setbacks, the pressure and stress of making and doing everything 100% perfect was alot, but I managed to get a 30 day trial period.

I believe that I worked myself to above and beyond the roles I needed for the position, as did everyone else. However, my boss didn't notice any of my accomplishments while they were so great. She noticed the small things I missed, or the things that could use a one time correction or guidance like setting up floorset. So, despite everyone else in the company believing in me, the one person I needed did not believe in me. Therefore, I did not get it.

I began looking for something full-time, as Chico's FAS as a company does not allow full-time for individuals not in the assistant manager position at least. (whbm is part of Chico's, as is Soma.) I had no intentions of leaving this job. I couldn't. I loved it too much.

On June 20th, I got a call from another store offering me full-time hours and great package to come on board. It was at a bridal store. I accepted the offer and immediately called my boss. I was off that day and would be in tomorrow with her. I told her I had something to talk about with her tomorrow that is important, knowing that it's Saturday and one of out busiest days would she rather talk before my shift starts or before she leaves for the day. She said she would rather hear it now rather than go into the back room on a Saturday. I hesitated, but told her regardless.

She asked me if I wanted to drop down to a sales associate, as I was in the sales lead position. I could only give her two days availability, which others have done before, and I told her I wouldn't mind being a sales associate. I said "I just know I don't want to leave, because I love it here and I love who I work with." I remember it very clearly.

Our other two sales leads would be on vacation the day I started the new job, so of course the timing was terrible. But I couldn't control that. That's just how the stars aligned...

The next day, she would not talk to me. We had a big promo setup coming up and all three sales leads were on that day. She talked to them about the promo change, but not me. She did not go outside with me for a smoke like we always did. (Saturday we actually we're extremely quiet.) She said a couple passing words, throughout the day but that was it. It crushed me. I looked up to her not only as a boss, but a role model, a motherly figure, a friend, a mentor. Because of my attachment and abandonment issues, I latched onto her the hardest, because she gave that tough love like a mother, but also gave me advice on life. I fell in love with the people there and assigned them titles in my heart as "sister", "mother", "aunt", "cousin".. and felt comforted by that. Unfortunately my boss became mother, so being rejected by her like that crushed me.

It crushed me so much so that I flipped from idolizing her, to hating her— as most borderlines do. She abandoned me and rejected me, I hated her guts. I couldnt stand to look at her. She was going to replace me. I didn't want to be there that following Monday. I was in a mindset of "fuck this, fuck you, fuck being here." This sanctuary I had was completely destroyed.

Yesterday, (Tuesda, June 25th) I came into my shift at 4pm. I clocked in and read mail on the company computer, like usual. I came out to the floor and asked to be paced in with what was going on for the day. My boss pulled the calendar and said to me "let's go finish up our conversation from the other day." Since she was pulling the calendar, I didn't think anything negative. I figured we were going to discuss what day's I could give her. I perked up a little bit.

We get into the backroom and sit down and she tells me she needs me to write out my notice to her just so she has it in writing. I knew this was standard, but figured because I was dropping in position and not leaving the company, I didn't need to write a two weeks. I asked her what to write. I've never had to drop down in position before, so I was unsure. She told me all I had to do was write that I was giving my notice and sign it. I asked her, AGAIN, because I didn't know BECAUSE IVE NEVER DONE THIS... Should I write that I'm dropping down to a sales associate and she said "no, you just write that you gave two weeks like we spoke on the phone." I say to her as I'm writing that my start date for the new job got moved to July 6th (one day later) so I had still had that Friday I could give her, making my availability two weeks and and extra day or two. She said my last day would be Friday July 5th.

I signed the paper and handed it to her and as soon as she took it she told me that today was my last day and I could go home.

I looked at her confused, my heart in my chest. Asking her what? What do you mean? Tears already welling in my eyes and my hands shaking. She said she thought I should focus on my full time job and that they were competitors. I said that I hadn't even started yet so time to focus on what? And competitors? I sell wedding dresses..? She quickly snapped back at me saying that I would also be selling shoes and accessories, like WHBM sells. I asked her why it was okay for me to work at another clothing store during the holidays and nothing was ever said then? She had no response. I asked her if I did something wrong. She said, no not at all I just think this is the best thing for you. I gave her my keys, crying and shaking, holding back anxiety because now at this point, I had alot to say but couldn't because of how hard I was holding back a full blown panic attack. I emptied my drawer and left out the back door. I kept my composure until I pulled away from the store and then broke down, screaming, crying, wailing. She knew how much I loved it here and knew I was going to drop down.

I spoke to the DSM (her boss) yesterday, after a chain of phone calls to all of the girls who had become my family. Most of them are older than me by 20 years and it was hard because I knew the age difference was so great that keeping in touch wasn't going to be likely. The DSM had no idea this happened, despite her and my boss talking about things regarding me a few days ago. She didn't know my boss was letting me go. She knew we would be needing someone to help fill in since I would be a sales associate starting July 5th and her other two sales leads would be on vacation.

Is this wrongful termination? Was this decision made out of anger because of me getting a new job? If offered to finish out the two weeks (since I had only worked 4 days out of the 14 before getting shooed out the door.) Should I decline? I'm afraid to go back into the store because of my boss. I realistically could finish it out in another store, but what if it follows me. My boss is constantly in touch with the surrounding stores. I'm scared. My next pay date would have been my last day as a sales lead. But now I'm out of two weeks of pay. I should have opened the store this morning, but here I am.

I'm shattered.
