Yay.

I am quitting on a high note, which is always good.

Though I suspect I will never be able to capture on paper what I feel in my brainy-pan when I have Joshua Ferris (unfortunately a very bit character) on the page.

Just him screaming,

“I am Joshua, son of Joshua, Knight of the realm! My sister’s champion!”

as he punt kicks a deity down a hall and a bunch of the rest of them scatter because holy fuck we did not sign up to fight a goddamn hero.

Built like Arnie playing Conan but bigger.

He’s one of those characters that should do more than a page can easily convey because he is a lot of man.

He’s a Ren-Faire, D&D geek who works as a bouncer... whose first love actually is one of the Great Queens of the Fae, and is just tootling around modern day California with powers like Hercules.

And he is his little sister’s hero... which is an issue for her because no one can ever measure up to her mental image of her big brother.

is all hyper like an excited child. when you tell him you have something special planned for his birthday, his eyes light up brighter than anything else in the world. is rlly confused when you tell him to dress comfortably, n is pestering you to give him a clue of where you're going the entire ride to the destination. almost drops to one knee right then and there when you guys get to the adult soft play you booked for him and yourself. has the time of his life, gets drunk and gives you sloppy kisses everywhere he can reach

eyes go as round as saucers and he starts beaming rlly adorably when you wake him up with breakfast in bed on his birthday. jokingly asks what the special occasion is, and eats everything with gusto. you take him to a big cat sanctuary, and he is in awe of all the different wild cats you see. it's a quiet birthday, but he's so touched that you went out of your way to do this for him and honestly, he thinks getting to spend the day with you is the best birthday event ever

has the most dramatic reaction ever. your surprise could have been handing him a burnt cake you'd made and he'd be sobbing all over it. as it were, however, you'd planned a whole spread of food for him while he'd gone to the cinema with some of his friends, and so he ends up being an inconsolable mess at your feet because it all smells so good and why didn't you tell him you knew how to cook??? you can't finish everything, but you two try your best, and he's grinning dopily bc he's all happy-full and it's all because of your wonderful cooking

dokyeom:

another person who genuinely had no idea you were planning something for him. when you wake him up with breakfast in bed, he thinks it's going to be a quiet day, but oh boy is he wrong. finds himself absolutely loving it as you rattle off all the plans you have for the day while he's stuffing his face with pancakes. takes pictures of everywhere you go and everything you present to him. kisses you softly under the night sky as you're sitting on the roof of your house, telling you quietly and sincerely that this was the best birthday event he's ever had

when you wake him up with a simple "happy birthday" in the morning, he can't lie that he's a little disappointed. he thought you'd do something a little bigger for him. but when it's nearing the evening, you tell him to get dressed into something warmer and he visibly lights up. is in absolute awe when the two of you drive to a stargazing sight in the middle of the countryside. gets all hyper, tells you all the weird facts he knows. you two end up leaving after a few hours bc it's cold, but he's beaming and he's so happy that you did this for him

Joshua x reader. Synopsis: He's just so pretty. Warnings: Fluff, kisses and Ferris wheel (?) A/n: I just had to write for him.

The Ferris Wheel carried them steadily upwards, the amusement park sprawled out beneath them like a miniature world of flashing lights and joyful screams. Joshua, usually a whirlwind of energy on stage, leaned back against the plush seat, a rare moment of peace washing over him. His eyes were closed, a content sigh escaping his lips as he basked in the quiet hum of the machinery and the gentle swaying of the pod.

You watched him, a soft smile gracing your lips. He looked so different, so serene, without the usual stage makeup and the carefully styled hair.

The sunlight filtering through the leaves cast a warm glow on his features, highlighting the sharp angles of his jawline and the way his eyelashes fanned out against his cheek. He was breathtakingly beautiful. In that moment, something tugged at your heartstrings.

The silence stretched between them, a comfortable quiet that spoke volumes. Suddenly, an irresistible urge overwhelmed you. Leaning closer, you brushed a stray strand of hair from his forehead, your touch sending shivers down his spine. His eyes fluttered open, meeting yours with a jolt of surprise.

Before he could speak, you surprised him by leaning in and planting a quick kiss on his lips. It was a fleeting touch, a feather-soft whisper against his skin.

A blush crept up his neck, dusting his cheeks with a rosy hue. He looked adorable, caught off guard by your spontaneous gesture.

"Y/n," he stammered, his voice barely a whisper.

A giggle escaped your lips. "Sorry." you said, though there was no apology in your voice. "You were just so… pretty. I couldn't help myself."

Joshua chuckled, shaking his head but unable to hide the smile tugging at his lips. "Pretty?" he echoed, a playful grin tugging at his lips.

You met his gaze, your own sparkling with mischief. "Unbelievably pretty." you confirmed, leaning in closer. Before he could react, you pressed another quick, chaste kiss on his lips.

Joshua's breath hitched, his heart hammering a frantic rhythm against his ribs. He stared at you, mesmerized, the world outside a hazy blur.

A blush bloomed on your cheeks, but your eyes held a newfound confidence. "There." you said, a triumphant note in your voice. "See? I couldn't resist."

Joshua chuckled, a low, rumbling sound that sent shivers down your spine. "Well," he began, his voice husky, "that changes things a bit, doesn't it?"

He leaned closer, his breath warm against your ear. "Maybe I should show you something even prettier then." he murmured, his voice laced with a hint of amusement.

Your heart sped up. "Oh yeah? And what might that be?"

He leaned back slightly, a slow, playful smile spreading across his face. As the Ferris wheel reached its peak, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the city glittering below.

Joshua tilted his head and captured your lips in a kiss. It was a soft kiss, filled with a tenderness that sent a jolt of electricity through you. In that moment, suspended high above the world, the noise and chaos faded away, leaving only the warmth of his touch and the silent promise of a love that bloomed amidst the bright lights and screaming fans.

the last person you expected to see at your parents’ anniversary dinner was your ex-boyfriend, his seat readily propped up next to yours at the dining table. it was the celebration of love for another couple that painfully reminds you of how bittersweet the love you had with someone you thought to be the love of your life once upon a time reminiscent in live time. you’re certain of who sent the invite when you meet with your mother’s gaze from the kitchen as she eyes you from the living room with joshua next to her, innocently preparing the food with her but you don’t say a word or question why he was here.

then, you brush past him to get to the sink where you let the running water wash away a couple droplets of blood. you hear rummaging from opposite you before a hand grips your other hand that remains uninjured, dragging you to take a seat by one of the chairs by the island counter. you try not to make too much noise to disrupt the couple of guests leaving with the sound of your parents’ voice being a louder distraction to the sound of distaste that leaves your lips.

you can’t fight it when joshua exerts a bit more strength to hold your hand in place, using a tissue to wipe your finger dry before he peels a bandaid (that he unsurprisingly remembers where to get it from) and puts it over the small cut. you keep your eyes lowered for the most part, refusing to look up to him. what he does next makes your heart swell, hammering in your chest when he cocoons your hand with both of his. giving it a gentle squeeze as he holds onto your hand, beckoning you to look up to meet with his gaze.

“but i wanna work through it with you,” he says, voice getting softer and softer and it takes you a second to realise he’s close to crying with the way his voice trembles. you lean into his touch, eyes fluttering shut. “we can work things out, i know we can,” he continues, moving closer towards you until you feel the way his breath hits your lips, forehead lightly hovering by yours.

“why?” your reply is near silent; a plea that snaps his heartstrings.

he chuckles and it makes you open your eyes to see what’s so funny. but it seems like you’ve bitten the bait when he smiles at you almost immediately when your eyes meet in close proximity.

“because you’re still looking at me like that,” he answers; unwavering. “and i don’t want you to look at someone else like that,”

you heave out a deep sigh as your eyes close once more. joshua feels a little uncertain of what your answer might be but his heart begins to swell with the warmth bursting in his chest when he realises how you’re leaning forward to rest your forehead against his.

“we have so much to talk about...”

at the lack of response from him, you peel your eyes open to see how wide he’s smiling. the excitement that bubbles from his irises before it drives his entire being to move. he nudges you to lean away just so he can walk around to pull you up from your seat and pulls you into his arms. the familiarity that washes over you is enough to make you speechless, only desperately clutching onto him as you circle your arms around his waist to keep him near. your eyes close just as his; both halves returning as a whole, lingering smiles, steady heartbeats.
