Today is episode 1 for @a-mag-a-day! To be honest I don’t relisten to this episode much as when I do relisten I tend to skip to past Trevor and Julia’s statements, whichever number those are. But this episode is so good!

The first time we hear Jon’s true statement voice, and the theater kid that Jon Sims, head archivist is, comes out in full glory.

A few things about this episode I wanna talk about.

1: Gertrude’s filing system. She had one. We know she did, she wanted the archives in chaos but she also had her own research she had to do. I wish we had some insight to this, what does G/H mean?? As much as this blog is a Gertrude hate blog, I want to know more.

2: Jon talks about martin for the first time. He’s mean (its fine) but like heheheh. (Sorry I’m a teaholding simp)

3: Sarah Baldwin was actually the first connection I ever made in this show. When Melanie gave her statement i remembered the name and it was so fun to make those connections

4: Jon’s l-o-l is so damn funny to me. And i don’t know why. How else is he supposed to say it?

5: something I’ve seen brought up a few times today was “real statements cant be recorded digitally because of corruption but yet photoshop?” And this is actually such a good point and combined with binary is really is the first hint that the whole “digital cant handle the real” is bs. Because it is. Real statements don’t record on Jon’s laptop because of the web. It never had to do with digital vs analog.

Anyways here’s my annotated versions of statement #0122204. The first would be Jon as he looks over the statement and follow ups before sitting down to recording. The second is the culmination of all seasons, in this AU (I guess) Jon just had all the statements as they walked around the eyepocalypse and people made notes occasionally. Idk it’s more about the fun than the logic.

For Tiave & Orion's faces I used their correct and fixed adult face templates (21 & 25) and mixed them with Jon Smith’s face.

Installation

The subhood folder is named TEEN. Put it in C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Open For Business\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate

Add Jon Smith Tricou's descendants as a shopping district. You can delete the subhood right after adding it and the sims will have been added to the hood!

It’s been 84 years and I’m finally listening to season 5 of The Magnus Archives (I wasn’t ready for it to end before okay?) and it’s all So Much all the time? I have been wanting another Eldritch-horror dating sim ever since the completion of Sucker For Love. Though, I will say, something with with more overall monstrous/canon interpretations of Eldritch horrors and the Lovecraft mythos complete with sexy-times is what I'm hoping for.

Just give me a game where I can get dicked down by Cthulhu so hard that I start reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in R'lyehian, is that so much to ask?

I... Like TMA by proxy?? My roommate is a huge fan (like listened to the whole show through multiple times fan) and I know many things about it because of it.

I did listen to the first season. But I also skipped episodes - did some episodes where I only read the transcript, and had some episodes that I started and never finished because they scared me.

I am NOT big on horror, so after carefully tiptoeing through the first season I decided not to finish the show 😅 it was just a bit too much for me.

If you are squeamish about it but still want to listen I will say- the transcripts have CWs for each episode so I read those before I listened (or decided not to listen) to each episode, and for me, reading the transcripts did help for episodes that would have scared or grossed me out too much.

But I did like the show's concept even though the horror elements were a bit much for me, and there's mysterys and things that connect between episodes that you never expect to come back up so I did love that, and the characters are great

That's all to say, if you like the characters then you should give it a try. Maybe read the CWs for each episode if you're a bit squeamish with horror

Anyway this was very long I'm sorry I'm incapable of being straight to the point lol
