first name basis - jim kirk
Request: nope Pairing: jim kirk (snw) x reader Summary:  jim insists you call him by his first name, but you're not sure about it Warnings:  bit of language but thats it Word count:  539 A/N: saw that episode with la'an and jim and got this idea :) enjoy reading!
you hear kirk let out another sigh across from you. for the past hour you've tried to ignore him. you know it's late, and you're both tired. but this report couldn't wait and it had an annoyingly long list of demands.
captain pike had apologised to you both when he assigned you the task, and he had asked the two of you to get it done as quickly as possible. so here you are, on the third night in a row, working on a report on the latest away mission and your findings.
because captain pike was needed aboard during the away mission, he had assigned spock to lead the mission. spock had beamed down to the surface of the planet along with la'an, kirk and yourself.
and because both spock and la'an were busy with their other duties, you and kirk had been assigned the boring - and time consuming - task of putting together the detailed report.
you hadn't really worked with kirk often. your paths didn't cross that much aboard enterprise. the only times you'd see him would be in the cafeteria, sometimes on the bridge or on an away mission.
a part of you actually thinks the most time you've spent with him is in your lab, working on the report.
at the end of the day, or rather, somewhere in the night, kirk would start sighing a lot to signal he was about down with it for the day. as he was doing now.
'you alright there, lieutenant?' you say.
he sighs again.
'we've been working on this report for the past three nights and you still call me lieutenant.' he says.
you don't look up from your work, even though you can feel his eyes on you.
'so? you are a lieutenant. as am I.'
'don't you think we're past ranks at this point? I've seen you trip over a fallen log and nearly break your nose during the away mission. also, the other day I saw you chug three coffees in a row.'
'fine.' you say, still looking at your work. 'but I'm not calling you james.'
'why not?' says kirk.
'it sounds too formal and I don't feel like it suits you. plus there was a james at the academy same time I was there and he was a real asshole. fucked me over a couple of times.'
'really?'
'yeah. got a middle name?'
'tiberius.'
you're silent as you finally lift your gaze to look him in the eye. he's got bags under his eyes, and his hair is slightly disheveled but he's still got a twinkle in his eyes. you're sure you look as tired as he does. except maybe without the twinkle in your eyes.
'you're serious? your middle name is tiberius?'
'yes, it was my grandfather's.'
'I am not calling you tiberius.'
you see how he frowns slightly.
'then what?' he says.
'you got any nicknames?' you ask.
'not really.'
'how about jim? short for james.'
'jim...' he says, contemplating it. 'yeah, sure. I actually like that.'
you smile at him. 'alright, jim.' you say. 'I want to finish this section of the report tonight, so I'm getting another coffee, want one as well?'
'yes, please. thanks, y/n.'

Jim Kirk x Reader: Racing
Word Count: 857 Warnings/Notes: A little bit of angst, given that the Reader is a little stressed and overworked (implied). Summary: The Reader is still anxious from the previous red alert and seeks out Jim who wants to make sure that they are well and comfortable.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~
Making your way through the lit white hall, you let out a hefty sigh. The steady lights were a welcoming sight. The usual foot traffic helped to ease your racing mind. The sliding doors to the bridge were open and oddly inviting. As you passed through the threshold, you could see the activity lessening gradually. Multiple divisions still had a job to do. Their hands moved across the screens in front of them, checking and maintaining functions on and around the starship. It was as if you could still feel the tension ebbing. No one had noticed you walk through the entryway. If they did, it was only a glance.
From the only chair without a center console or screen in front of them, sat the one person of your focus. The command yellow shirt of their uniform made him stand out. Even if there were at least two others in the room bearing the same color. Captain Jim Kirk turned his head at the sound of your approaching steps. His vibrant blue eyes held a smile within them before one had the chance to appear on his face. “Lieutenant,” he nodded as you stepped over to the side of his chair. “What brings you to the bridge? Do you need anything?” A frown sank on your face as you looked at him. “My heart is racing, and it’s all your fault,” you said, your voice hardly above a whisper. Though you were minutely serious, you hoped he caught on to your intended humor. His brows rose, taking the corner of his lips with them. “Oh?” “Not like that!” You kept yourself from swatting a hand at his shoulder. “We were on a red alert.” “Right.” His words fell with his facial features at the memory. “But you’re all right…aren’t you?” You sighed lightly at his concern. It was genuine of course and you knew that. You just wished that the pair of you had a moment without the rest of the crew in earshot. “A little…off kilter, so to speak. Nothing broken or spun out into space on my end, so…doable, I suppose?” “Doable?” “Decent?” Jim gave a humorless laugh. “Who’s trying to reassure who?” Movement from the edges of your vision snapped you back to attention. “Everything is in working order and functioning correctly.” Faster than the Enterprise’s current speed, Jim’s eyebrows bundled together. He knew exactly which pointy eared, blue shirt wearing officer’s presence had created that reaction from you.
You stared at his thoughtful expression until you felt the need to dismiss yourself. But he spoke again before your legs could move. “Hold the lift for me?” He asked in a soft whisper.
With a nod, you spun on your heel and exited the bridge entirely. Carrying you through the hall, your legs moved briskly to your next destination. And as the door to the lift came into sight, you tuned into the nearing footsteps. Pressing the button, the lift door opened. Just as you took a step inside, Jim caught up to you. “Captain,” you gave a single nod when you turned in the empty compartment. “Lieutenant,” he replied, pressing another button to close the lift and determine a location in the ship. Closing your eyes, you took a long steadying breath. When you next opened them, he was standing in front of you. “What do you need?” He asked, eyes earnest and searching. Without an innate answer, you swooped into his embrace. You clung onto the first fabric layer of his shirt, and hoped that the tears would not break free. Not yet. Not in what you still considered a public space. “Hey, you’re alright,” he kissed the top of your head. “I got you. I got you and I won’t let go until you tell me to.” Burying your face deeper into his chest, you knew this was bound to happen. There had been two other red alerts in the past week. And it was not even the weekend yet. Not that it meant a day off for you. “Should I ask Doctor McCoy for some anti-stress meds or something?” You sniffled. “I will leave that up to you to decide. But I think there’s a shore leave coming up.” “There’s not,” you leaned back to look at him curiously, “believe me, I’ve double checked.” A smile peeked out as he gazed at you. “I think I can arrange something.” “Really?” “Yes, really,” he gave a quiet laugh at the hope sparkling in your eyes. The lift slowed to a stop and you retracted yourself from him. However, the sight outside was not where you needed to be. “Jim, this isn’t the deck I work on. This is the living quarters.” “I know,” he turned and gently ushered you out. “But my work—” “Can continue without you for the time being. I’ll sort things out for you. I give you my word.” “Thank you, Jim,” you smiled gratefully. “You’re welcome,” he said, reaching for the panel. “Who’s your favorite?” “Scotty,” you said, finally laughing when his jaw dropped at your answer, the lift door shutting completely.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~
Thank you for reading!
This came about because I felt like I give more attention to McCoy than Kirk (I totally do. Sorry Jim.) Also, Happy Star Trek day!!

Cheap, Plastic Stars - Leonard McCoy
Tumblr media
A/N: Happy Star Trek Day! I wrote this in a sleep-deprived fugue the other night, but knew that I needed to post something for today. I hope you all enjoy!
Pairing: Leonard McCoy x Reader Word Count: 963 Synopsis: Leonard comes home to find that Jim and the reader have taken over his bedroom.
When Leonard comes home, the lights are off in the apartment. This isn’t entirely unexpected, it’s nearly 1:00 a.m., and any sane person would be asleep. Unfortunately, Leonard doesn’t know any sane people. Other than himself. Although the more time he spend with his friends, the closer he feels to insanity.
It had been a long night. Although he’s on leave, he was still keeping busy. He assisted at the nearby hospital whenever he could, and tonight he got called in for an emergency C-section. Both mom and baby were fine, and resting, and now, Leonard wanted to be resting, too.
But as he approached his bedroom, and heard the giggling coming from inside, he knew that would not be the case.
When he pushed open the door to his bedroom, it was as dark as the living room, except for a very dim glow from little plastic stars on his ceiling. Laying in his bed was his best friend and his girlfriend.
You and Jim both had the blankets pulled up to your chin and were chuckling under the covers until you spotted Leonard. When you saw him, the chuckle became a howl.
“Do I even want to know?” Leonard asked with a sigh. You grinned at him from the bed and wiggled over, elbowing Jim to do the same.
“Come here,” you said, patting the bed. Leonard groaned and kicked off his shoes and his jacket before lying down next to you.
“Hi,” you said, giggling as you did.
“Hi,” he said, smiling despite his better judgement.
“Hi,” Jim chimed in, making you both burst out laughing again.
“Did you two go through my medicine cabinet again?” Leonard asked.
“No,” you said, bumping your shoulder against his, “But we did get into some delicious wine from the grocery store.”
“Makes sense,” Leonard said, relaxing against his pillow. “What are those stupid stars doing up there?”
“We also got those from the grocery store,” Jim said. You nodded proudly.
“Why?”
“Because you’re scared of space,” you said, yawning loudly. You snuggled in a bit closer to his side, and Leonard put his arm around you.
“And why would I wanted to be reminded of that every night?”
“We thought the stars might make you get used to it, so you wouldn’t be as scared.”
“It didn’t really work though,” Jim said. “Most of them fell onto the floor or under your bed.”
“We were gonna make constellations!” you said, whisper-shouting into Leonard’s ear. He pulled back a little, but kept you still in his arms. The idea was stupid, a fact he would be sure to tell the both of you, but he knew it came from the right place.
“There are only two stars up there,” he said plainly. You snorted and tucked your face into his shoulder, laughing as Jim did next to you, nearly shaking the bed with his laughter.
“Constellations can have two stars,” Jim said, looking up smugly at your work.
“Okay, so what constellation is that?”
“That’s a new one we came up with,” you said, excitedly pulling away from his arms and looking up. “We call it the Leonard.”
“The Bones,” Jim corrected.
“We could not decide on a name,” you said, smiling as you looked at him. “But we dedicated our constellation to you.”
Leonard smiled at you and gripped your shoulder a little tighter. You wrapped your arm around his chest and let out another big yawn. Leonard thought he heard some snoring coming from Jim’s side, but when he looked at his friend, he was all grins.
“Aren’t you wondering why we’re in the bed?” he asked, smirking at him.
“The thought crossed my mind, yeah,” Leonard said, sighing.
“We were testing out the stars. We wanted to see if they would lull you to sleep, so we tried to fall asleep, too.”
“It didn’t work,” you said.
“You two are idiots,” Leonard said. You both laughed, and then, Leonard did, too. “But because you are idiots who are also drunk, I will give you a pass. Jim, it is one in the morning, please get out of my bed.”
“I’m not sure I can walk,” he said, grinning as he sat up.
“Don’t worry,” you whispered, “We’ve got a doctor here.” For some reason, that made Jim laugh even more, and it was another five minutes before he left the room. Once the door had shut behind him, Leonard pulled you closer into his arms.
“How did the surgery go?” you asked, your voice thick with sleep.
“Good,” he said, kissing the top of your head. “I guess I still don’t understand why the two of you had to lay in bed.”
“I think we just got sleepy. It’s hard work sticking stars to the ceiling,” you said, smiling against his chest. Leonard smiled too as he ran his hand through your hair. “Do you like your stars?”
“I do.”
“Do they make you feel less afraid?”
“Sure.”
“Good,” you said dreamily. “We worry about you, you know? We want you to be happy.”
“I am happy.”
“Good. Me too.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
“Goodnight, Leonard.”
Leonard looked at the ceiling for a while after you had fallen asleep. One look at the end of his bed proved that there had been more plastic stars, but he was particularly fond of the two that had clung on. Two stars to watch over him, from the two people closest to him.
His friends were idiots. They were insane idiots who got too drunk on cheap, peach wine, who impulsively bought glow-in-the-dark stars, who decorated their friends room without asking, and who laid in his bed for some godforsaken reason. They were idiots.
His friends were insane, but he wouldn’t trade them for anyone better.

I still remember the day I first watched Star Trek and I thought, "Wow, Kirk and Spock would make a really good couple, I wonder if there's anyone who ships them," and then I looked up 'Kirk and Spock' on the Internet and the first thing that came up was the fucking Wikipedia article about the history of slash fiction and that it was Kirk and Spock who invented modern fandom.

spirk fics i've read in the last two-ish months and loved
I will have you (if you let me) by ros3bud009 @roseymoseyberry (TOS) - starting out this list with a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ fic. i loved everything about this fic - the premise (k&s know they're t'hy'la from the second they meet), the yearning, the journey, the love. i could live in this fic
Spock 🖖 by vaksur, WerewolvesAreReal (TOS) - need a laugh? this one is it. spock decides to use emojis in his comms. shenanigans ensue
A Friend Like You by kierawrites (TAS, yes you read that right an animated series fic!) - pre-slash, a glimpse into their lives after the episode "mudd's passion." this one is short and yet is packed with *them*
A Different Perspective by Maeko (AOS, SNW) - transporter malfunction fic, and this time it brings AOS Spirk to SNW verse. loved this one for the AOS Spirk dynamics, but mostly the SNW Spock and AOS Spock interactions and Maeko's perspective of Vulcan telepathy. it's a fascinating character study!
in the dying of the light by scar_a_mouche (zanni_scaramouche) @zanniscaramouche (AOS) - i'm not sure how to categorize this one, other than to say that i had this *ache* in my chest through every sentence and it just felt so AOS Spirk that i wanted to drown in it. one of my faves over the last few months
Personal Personnel Protocol by dothedeux (TOS) - another comedy entry for the list. this time it's not just the bridge crew that knows what's up, it's the computer. such a fun read and so sweet too
Professor Kirk by TonightNoPoetryWillServe (AOS) - cadet spock, professor kirk, and all kinds of fluff with only a touch of angst. perfect bedtime reading
Let Forever Be by gunstreet @gunstreet (TOS) - listen. i need everyone to drop what they're doing and read this fic. it's a city on the edge of forever fic that is mostly a jim character study but pulls in queer history. it breathes compassion and humanity, and is stocked with OCs you'll fall in love with. another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read
Shall We? by Jenna Hilary Sinclair (JennaHilary) (TOS) - yet another comedy entry? what has the world come to? i love my angst just as much as the next spirk truther, but when comedic spirk is done right it hits perfectly and this one is definitely done right
And When the Bond Breaks by LadyRa (TOS) - finishing this spirk list with a final ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read. this became easily one of my favorite TOS fics of all time. it's from 2003 and deserves WAY MORE hits, kudos, and comments than it has!
for the non-spirk entries this time around:
StarDate.org by Exxact (TOS/AOS fusion) - christine/t'pring and online dating. fluff and friendship. perfect
The Time of Neither by gunstreet (SNW) - spoimler nation rise! your definitive fic has arrived!
My World Is No Longer Hollow by existentialcrisistime @existentialcrisistime (TOS) - a mcspirk fic about finding where you belong. so beautiful
and two recs for WIPs for you to read and subscribe to:
Place Your Hand In Mine by remylebae @twinkboimler (AOS) - a super sweet mckirk fic about leonard having a secret admirer (who could it possibly be??)
It's Not An Illusion by Borealisblue @thetimetostrikeislater (AOS) - gorgeous story about healing and gorgeous artwork? i'm sold!
please do send me recs, and don't be afraid to self-promo! you can find all my recs here

you know what I WANNA READ
we've collectively decided that jim reads like. jane austen and other such authors religiously
i want to see a fic where he's reading acd sherlock and he's like annotating the book (because it's not a valuable copy he obviously has more valuable copies that he keeps in pristine condition) with a bunch of johnlock moments
and spock asks to borrow a book and jim's like "have at it" and leaves. so spock picks one of his ANNOTATED copies of sherlock holmes.
and he's reading thru and taking notes of these markings and highlights and he realizes they're supposed to be romantic moments
SO THEN spock starts trying to court jim IN THE STYLE OF JOHNLOCK
and jim is so confused like wtf is happening and then he realizes one of his annotated copies is GONE
and he FREAKS THE FUCK OUT because he thinks spock is just experimenting
someone write this pls i'll pay you (i'm a minor and i have no money)

The concept of Jim Kirk as science officer and Spock as captain cracks me up. There’s Spock trying to run a smooth logical operation and then there’s Jim “hold my beer” kirk in science running outlandish experiments just cause and driving Spock nuts.

scars - jim kirk
Request: yes! "Hi I just discovered your blog and binge read everything. I’m watching Star Trek strange new worlds and it made me want to do a one word blurb request for Jim kirk with the word scars. Idk if I’m supposed to give an idea for it. If so maybe him and reader bonding over telling stories about what caused the scars. If we’re not supposed to do ideas I’m sure you’ll come up with singing brilliant. Either way continue the amazing writing !🫶🏻" Pairing:  jim kirk x reader Summary:  you and jim tell each other about your scars Warnings:  mentions of scars, mentions of blood, like one swear wordWord count:  780 A/N: thank you so much for this request!! <3 I've yet to watch last weeks snw episode bc I was on holiday and me and my dad have a tradition to watch it on Friday but I miss my silly little space people so I'm gonna ask if we can watch it sooner 💅🏻 enjoy reading!
'that was the most intense day ever.' you say as you roll your shoulders and then take off your boots.
behind you, jim chuckles as he enters his quarters as well.
'you stayed in you lab all day, how intense could it have been?' he says.
you give him a look over your shoulder. 'why don't you spend an entire day in a lab with spock telling you what to do and then see if you're still your happy energetic self.'
jim laughs and pulls you in for a hug. 'alright I'll give you that.' he says, kissing the top of your head. 'why don't you take a shower and then we go to bed early?'
'sounds like a great plan.' you say.
jim was right, a warm shower helps. you close your eyes as you soak up the feeling of peace. after a while, you leave the shower, walking toward jim's closet to get a shirt to sleep in.
you get out the first one you see and pull it on before walking toward the bed.
'you know I don't mind, right?' says jim as you lay down next to him.
you frown. 'don't mind what?'
'your scars. there's no need to hide them from me.'
'oh... I just don't like them, that's all.' you say quietly. 'they remind me of times when I wasn't strong enough. like that time during an away mission when half of us didn't make it back to the ship.'
now it's jim's turn to frown. 'not strong enough?' he says.
you shrug. 'if I was stronger I wouldn't have scars.'
'baby, you've got scars because you fought. you're still here. that doesn't make you weak.'
'thanks.' you say softly.
jim reaches out as if to pull you closer, but instead holds his arm in the air.
'what?' you say.
instead of saying something, he points to a thin line on the inside of his upper arm.
you reach out and trace one of your fingers along the thin scar.
'didn't know you had that.' you say softly.
'well that's because you hardly notice my inner arm when I'm not wearing a shirt.' says jim, earning a chuckle from you.
'when did you get it?' you ask.
'three years ago. I thought it would be cool to be able to fight with knives. you know, old school.'
'and?'
'and I lasted precisely one training sessions. sliced open my own arm. lost quite a lot of blood even though it was a shallow cut. never tried fighting with knives again. I'll stick to a phaser or my fists.'
you laugh at his story, tracing the scar once more.
'I don't just have bad ones, you know.' you say. 'I've got one on my nose as well.'
'no you don't.'
'yes I do.'
you lean in closer to jim's face and watch his eyes as he studies your nose.
'it's very faint.' you say.
jim narrows his eyes as he looks closer. you can see the moment in his eyes when he sees it, a twinkle appearing in his eyes.
'it's tiny.' he says, pressing a kiss to the bridge of your nose where the scar is.
you smile at him.
'I swear I've never seen it before, though.' he says. 'how did you-' 'walked into a broken door.'
jim laughs out loud. you smile and shake your head, thinking back to the memory.
next to you jim is still laughing as you tell the story. about how you were working a double shift and were totally focused on the padd in your hands. how you didn't see or hear someone warning you the sensor of the automatic door needed fixing. and how it resulted into you walking face first into the door.
jim wipes away a tear that escaped his eye, still chuckling at the story.
'christine was in a state when I entered medbay that day.' you say. 'there was blood all over my face. I had a swollen nose and a black eye for two weeks.'
jim pulls you in closer and kisses your nose again.
'still think scars make me strong?' you say.
'oh, yeah, definitely.' says jim. 'next time watch out for broken doors, though.'
you playfully shove him. 'oh fuck off, you.' you say, but there's a smile on your lips. 'thank you.'
'for what?'
'just... thanks. night jim.'
'goodnight baby, don't dream of broken doors.'
jim inhales sharply as you firmly press your cold feet against his legs underneath the covers.
'mean.' he says.
'deserved.' you say.
jim laughs softly as he pulls you closer. you lay your head on your chest and fall asleep listening to his heartbeat.

I need more fanfiction where T'Pring isnt reduced to bitchy villian who gets in the way of spirk.
T'Pring is the ultimate girlboss in the original series. My girl was put into an arranged marriage to a man she didnt want in a patriarchial society where she would as i quote, 'become the property of the victor'. Instead of just conceeding to this, she girlbossed her logical self into a win-win situation. She literally to Spocks face says, "either you reject me or i'm just going to be chilling on Vulcan with my side-piece."
I will not stand for anymore T'Pring slander!
