The celebration is going well, she really must say.

It is the night of her coronation, the first hours of her time as queen, and the first celebration the North has had since the destruction of King’s Landing. There’s been little to celebrate, what with Arya’s departure, and though Bran writes, it isn’t the same as having him there. And then… She swallows, forcing away the thoughts of Jon, lost to her on the orders of someone who didn’t have the right to even make them. In the several months since his punishment began, Sansa has heard nothing from him, though knowing Jon, he likely thinks himself to be deserving of the punishment. Sometimes she even wonders if it’s more self imposed than forced upon him by anyone else. 

She sighs, one hand pressing against her cheek, the other holding tight to a wine goblet she’s not touched. It’s her own coronation but she really doesn’t feel much like celebrating, though from a quick glance across the great hall, it would certainly seem like her guests are enjoying themselves. There were even visitors from as far as Dorne, though she imagines the Prince simply has come to decide if both a marriage and an alliance are worth his time. She entertained him well enough and she supposed he was handsome, but… No, thinking of a wedding alliance on the night of her coronation was simply too soon. 

“May I have this dance, your grace?” 

The voice surprises her and she nearly leaps from her skin, the jolt sending a wave of red wine over the edge of the goblet she holds. Looking up, she’s shocked at the face staring back at her, one she’s certainly not anticipated seeing on this night. “I… Yes…” She fumbles, rising up and just like that, Shae is there to take her wine, a secret smile curving on her lips. “Yes, you may,” she finds her voice and the man sweeps her a dashing bow before he offers her his arm, which she accepts without hesitation, allowing him to sweep her off the dias and out into the center of the hall. 

Jon has rehearsed this moment in his mind for many weeks. 

Truth was, he wasn’t even certain that Sansa would want to see him, considering all that’s happened. But, from the way she’s looking at him, he has to wonder if she’s even remembered that it’s been nearly seven months since their last meeting. He’s not forgotten- not the way she’d held him that day, or the warmth of her skin as she sank against him. He’s not forgotten a thing, for she was always there in the back of his mind, in everything he was, in everything that he did, she was always there. 

There at the center of the room, they take their places- his hand slips into place against the small of her back and he swallows, for in such close proximity, he can smell her rose-scented hair, the very same as always. Many pairs of eyes are watching their queen and him fall into step, every Northern born man and woman well aware of just who he is. It’s only the Dornish prince that leans over to the nearest lord, Lord Royce, to quietly ask who he is. “Why, that’s Jim Frost,” the lord chuckles, watching intently as his queen grows a smile she’s not had in many months.

“I’ve wondered when you might appear again,” she says as they fall into perfect rhythm, as if they’ve never once been apart. “I thought it would take less time, admittedly,” she says with a good natured smile that brings a chuckle from his lips. He swings her out and back in, the rush of the moment making his heart skip a beat. “But I’m glad you’re here.” 

“I wouldn’t miss it,” he replies back and she sinks in closer, head to his shoulder, remaining there until the music swells and fades, another song beginning just after it. “Walk with me…” He murmurs softly and she nods, of course she does, once again placing her hand to his elbow, allowing him to sweep her from the hall and out into the nearly empty corridor. But still, they do not stop, rather he takes her out the double doors and into the chilly evening air. Winter was quickly fading, but it was not yet gone, and so when they fell into place on the old, familiar tree trunk in the godswood, he swung his furs from his own shoulders to hers. “I thought you might not want to see me,” he admits after a few beats of silence. “I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t.” 

A soft sigh escapes her and she reaches for his hand, taking it without a single word. “I’ve missed you,” is all she says, all that she can think of in a moment such as this one. Gone was the anger she once might have felt, faded from her heart now that he stands there before her. All she feels now is peace. He was home, he was right where he was always meant to be. 

Something like relief softens his features and he leans in, forehead to forehead, one hand sliding gently into the soft length of her hair. “I’ve missed you, too,” he whispers back, a single tear escaping his eyes, though she’s already catching it with the softest of kisses. One so soft he’s not certain if he’s only just imagined it. When she pulls back, it’s those blue eyes he’s staring into, the eyes he’s missed the most- eyes he might drown within, if only she would allow it. “Let me serve you, my queen,” he would get down on bended knee if she required it, he would happily even clean the horse stalls, if only to be back at Winterfell. 

She laughs, a soft and lyrical sound he’s only heard in his dreams. “You don’t even have to ask,” she says, their hands a tangled web, neither one ready to let the other one go. “I have the perfect task for you, after all. A spot I’ve yet to fill.” Jon arches a brow, surprised, head tilting as he wonders what she could mean. “The spot beside me.” She speaks softly, but intently. “I have waited long enough, don’t you think?” 

Jon smiles, his only response was to lean in and kiss her; she’s waited long enough, after all.

Dan Wootton sacked by MailOnline a day after GB News suspension

Journalist’s column and contract terminated after comments made by Laurence Fox on his GB News show

Dan Wootton has been sacked by MailOnline the day after he was suspended by GB News for his part in an on-air discussion with actor Laurence Fox about a female journalist.

The TV anchor has been suspended from his lucrative MailOnline column since the summer over accusations he used the pseudonym “Martin Branning” to send sexually explicit messages to former colleagues. GB News declined to investigate these claims of inappropriate sexual behaviour against one of their star presenters, arguing they were alleged to have happened at a former employer.

As a result Wootton continued presenting his primetime nightly show on GB News until this week, when he was suspended over his role in a discussion with Fox about the appearance of a female journalist.

MailOnline has now ended Wootton’s contract, which was understood to give the journalist a six-figure salary in return for two columns a week.

A spokesperson for DMG Media, the parent company of MailOnline, said: “Following events this week, DMG Media can confirm that Dan Wootton’s freelance column with MailOnline – which had already been paused – has now been terminated, along with his contract.”

The media regulator Ofcom has also opened an investigation into Wootton’s exchange with Fox, after receiving more than 7,000 complaints in 24 hours that the channel may have breached the broadcasting code.

Wootton is still facing another investigation by his former employers at News UK, the parent company of the Sun, over claims he pretended to be a person called “Martin Branning” in order to solicit sexual images from his then-colleagues. The company has called in an external legal firm, Kingsley Napley, to investigate allegations against Wootton, who was one of the country’s most powerful celebrity journalists for much of the 2010s.

That investigation is ongoing, with lawyers interviewing Wootton’s current and former colleagues.

Wootton has continually denied sending sexual messages to his former colleagues, responding to the allegations on his GB News show by saying “dark forces” were trying to bring him down with a “smear campaign”.

He admitted making unspecified mistakes in the past but denied any criminal wrongdoing and has since claimed he is being unfairly targeted for having “political views that challenge the orthodoxy”.

He told GB News viewers he would “like nothing more than to address those spurious claims” but “on the advice of my lawyers I cannot comment further”.

Despite Wootton’s denials that he was Martin Branning, a number of people who knew him have come forward to accuse him including his former boyfriend Alex Truby and a model called Andy Lee.

Lee, a performer on the subscriber website OnlyFans, told the Guardian he met “Branning” in person in 2013 – and later realised he had actually met Wootton.

At first Lee did not think there was anything odd about the encounter, saying: “I was always under the impression he was Martin Branning.”

This apparently changed soon afterwards, when Lee claimed he was followed on Twitter by a journalist called Dan Wootton. Lee said he was shocked because the profile picture on Wootton’s account was the face of the “Martin Branning” he met.

There's nothing particularly wrong with wanting very simple stories where the people who are good, deserved more, or act impressively will win. 

But, anon, when did I say that these struggles of power will always end up with the right person/people winning and winning absolutely? 

A)

Rhaenyra is a tragic figure for the sake of Daenerys being the one to “fix” Westeros, as Rhaegar tried himself. Rhaenyra’s loss and death sets us up for the ultra violent and patriarchal world that Arya, Sansa, Dany, Jon, Tyrion, etc. must confront and understand. We trace the Targ’s loss of dragons and desperation to gain them back to Rhaenyra’s loss.

Have you read the brideoffire post that I put into the post you are referring to? You should go back and take a reread and sit and think about the implications of Rhaenyra and the Targ dynasty. 

*EDIT* Rhaenyra's story is a part of a larger story. The Dance is also, then, part of a larger story, and it comes from a specific history.

But I also wouldn't say that she was a "martyr" since her intentions were never to make life better for all women in Westeros, or all classes, etc. Rhaenyra's story matters because it shows, in real-time, what a patriarchal society and those with misogyny/internalized misogyny do to maintain and gain power, how we define "stealing" power, how we and those in Westeros think who deserves power and why, reveal hypocrisies, show us what biased writing looks like, invites us to look past the surface to weight context vs text vs subtext, etc.

I do not prefer Rhaenyra over Alicent because I never thought she herself was a feminist or even a proto-feminist. I prefer her because her becoming a Queen Regnant rather be a Dowager/Regent or a mere princess shows us what could have been (if not for the misogyny) AND even without her efforts, it would set a precedent that allows other women to easier fight for their own inheritances and rise to power. Mentioning Rosby and Stokeworth and what Rhaenyra did with them, this both shows what I already said about her--her herself--not being a feminist or having those interests....even though Rhaenyra did this, this is one incident and she had many more years to rule if she had won, during which other women woukd still be able to refer to her or use her rule to make their own rule have more legitimacy. Say you were a girl about to gain an inheritance or became lady. Rhaegar Targaryen wanted to depose his father and begin fixing the wrongs done in Westerosi history while fulfilling the prophecy, but he was flouted by the evil, self-centered, rapist, abusive, etc. Robert Baratheon. In real life, slavery existed in the U.S. since its inception (around 400 years) and then we had Jim’s Crow laws, segregation, and lynchings for another century. And in the meantime, many enslaved tried to fight back against theie enslavers and other enforcers of slavery through violent and nonviolent means and they did always suceed.

Therefore, you’re going to have figures who should have won but didn’t because of circumstance, “bad luck”, paranoia (from terrible, traumatic events in their life while they were trying to gain back rights, protect loved ones, get back power, etc.), lack of resources, poor decisions, etc. What’s assured in the series is that there will be a supernatural confrontation that needs Targ dragons and good leadership that you see in Arya, Daenerys, Jon Snow, Bran, Tyrion.

GRRM is interested in wars and revolutions in the realistic/historical sense while showing how humans think and behave during those major shifts of societal change.

ASoIaF/GRRM is trying to impart a more (not totally verastic since we have no dragons or magic or people who can wield either) realistic approach to revolution and psychology. Revolutions both need to happen to overthrow terrible systems but they also sometimes kill good or necessary people or they do not succeed.

- the farmer jim in the lyrics is corfo cepolla to me (he is a farmer who link comes back to several times across timelines for advice and help raising ganondorf as a baby. hes cool guy).

- "he may imagine you heard and he knew... you wouldnt hear what he might have known" <- despite it all link really fails to take to heart what needs to be learned from the cepollas. HES A VERY ONE TRACK MIND GUY... like a scarecrow!

- song is about an enigma of a guy right. why does he do what he does. is he even aware. only the wind knows... its very him.

- also the birds the crows. they are fate somewhat. he drives them away by nature of what he does but the line "igniting a spark in [the crows'] minds so they circle and fly" feels like they are driven to return anyway. very much a theme in the story, like evil still arises whether in ganondorf or not. you cant save everyone always

9. BIXBY CANYON BRIDGE (DEATH CAB)

- in the silence it became so very clear that you had long since disappeared...i cursed myself at bring suprised that it didnt play like it did in my mind

- the uh. hair length thing is actually pretty important because 1. its a cultural thing to have gans hair long. 2. rajo cut off all his hair before he killed himself in fear no more (momentous Fucking occasion). and link feels ratherrr responsible for that. the hair cutting is a betrayal. and in the times where link raises him in the hylian fashion and cuts his hair its like. uprooting his whole life and for what? Which actress, known for her role in 'EastEnders', died in 2022 at the age of 95?

June Brown (1927-2022) was an English actress known for her role as Dot Cotton in the long-running BBC soap opera 'EastEnders'. She starred in the soap from 1985 to 1993, and again from 1997 to 2020.

'EastEnders' has been running since February 1985, and has had over 5,700 episodes. Set in Walford, a fictional area of East London, the show contains many storylines, including arguments between the various families living in the area.

Dot Cotton, later Dot Branning, was a heavy-smoking, deeply religious woman who worked in the laundrette. She was the mother of the criminal Nick Cotton, and later the wife of pensioner Jim Branning. Dot was generally considered a tragicomic character. As well as her devout Christian faith and chain smoking, she was known for gossiping, hypochondria, and a motherly attitude to those in need.

In February 2015, Dot began appearing less frequently due to Brown gradually losing her eyesight. This aspect was later written into her character.

In 2005, Brown won Best Actress at the 'Inside Soap Awards' and received the Lifetime Achievement award at the 'British Soap Awards'. Brown was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2008 and promoted to OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2022 New Year Honours.

June Brown died on 3rd April 2022, at the age of 95. The following day, the BBC resurrected the documentary 'June Brown: A Walford Legend', which originally aired in 2017 for Brown's 90th birthday.

"Chápeš to? Oni mají prostě předvolbu +1. Ne +10, ne +420, ale +1," říká mi šokovaně Novinářka. Je z toho tak fascinovaná, že mi to v průběhu týdne zopakuje ještě třikrát.

USA - a řízením osudu i Kanada a oblíbené karibské destinace - mají mezinárodní předvolbu +1. Dekonstruktivním čtením lze samozřejmě rychle dospět k tomu, že to je symptom amerického imperialismu a znak jejich mezinárodní nadřazenosti. Tak se to může jevit cizincům, ale pro Američany věc stojí jinak: jednička je něco jako šedá barva nebo jako vzduch, který dýchají. Je to číslo ne-číslo, neviditelná, nezřetelná cifra. Je to znak neutrality, bezbarvosti, bezobsažnosti - normálnosti. Teprve když se vyrazí z domoviny, ze země, která je jim světem a důvěrně známým prostorem, začínají před telefonními čísly vyskakovat jiné, prapodivné cifry. Už ne +1, ale cosi vyššího, cosi navíc. Tato čísla jsou aditivní, ornamentem nebo výrůstkem na jedničce, která je normální, je výchozím stavem, nereflektovaná, stejně jako žluté dopravní značky, zelené názvy ulic na sloupcích, všudypřítomné elektrické vedení, zvuky hasičských sirén, suburbie, ksichty lidí nebo krabice Taco Bellu.

Nejbližší dosažitelná země s předvolbou je Mexiko (+52). Amerika je normálnost, je nereflektovaná. Co se dá dělat, Američani můžou jet hodiny a hodiny autem jakýmkoliv směrem a najdou stejnou zemi se stejným jazykem. To platí i pro Kanadu, která je jen takovou zbytnělou Montanou, případně Novou Anglií, na jihu Arizona a Texas ruty šuty plynule přecházejí v Mexiko, Havaj v Pacifik a floridské Keys v Karibik. Portoriko vypadá jak portorikánské čtvrti a Kuba jak čtvrti kubánské.

Sedím v kině na AquaManovi (BonAquaManovi; MattoniManovi, KokakolaManovi), promítání ve 12, potřeboval jsem vypadnout z bytu, kde nejsem vítaným hostem, potřebuju zabít čas, bavím se tou imaginací podmořských světů, rozpoznávám, co kde vykradli, nicméně po chvíli to přijde, hrdina je vládcem vodního podsvětí, ale ve skutečnosti touží po životě v majáku, který je však vprostřed americké suburbie, jezdí se do ní zpíčeným autem, děcko vychovává po vzoru permisivní a liberální americké výchovy, "hey, buddy", fuj, už to dorazilo i do Čech, u bran Atlantidy se štosuje zácpa, i pod vodou jsou totiž dálnice se zácpami, v podmořských městech jsou samozřejmě mrakodrapy, v nepřátelské ponorce na sebe posádka štěká jak marines ve válečném filmu, sir yes sir, nepřátelskou pevnost všude střeží hlídky a pochůzky, to je taková americká paranoia, kterou se navzájem ujišťují, že jsou věci pod kontrolou, že je možné mít věci pod kontrolou, přitom já jsem tuhle přeletěl půlku země jen na český řidičák, celník nemohl najít nadřízeného a za mnou se štosovala fronta, byly 4 ráno, tak mě se skřípáním zubů nechal projít, no co, letadlo jsem neunesl ani neodpálil.

Ale ještě perverznější jsou superhrdinské imaginace vesmíru, v celém vesmíru najdeme suburbie a mrakodrapy, štěkající vojáky (sir! ye!s s!i!r!), bytosti, které se právě dostaly na exkluzivní vejšku nebo proklouzly se sociálním stipendiem; Adam Driver letí před 65 miliony let vesmírem na planetu Zemi v období pozdní křídy, protože na jeho exotické a dávné planetě je americké zdravotnictví a on vydělává na léčbu dcerce.

Amerika je +1, není první ani nejlepsí, kdepak, je normální, je jediná myslitelná, v hlubinách oceánů i v dálkách vesmírů a času všichni bydlí na předměstích a touží po sentimentu nukleární rodinky, pohybují se v zácpách po dálnicích, platí školné a za nemocnice, ve vojskách na sebe štěkají jak v paranoidní imaginaci americké armády. Američané nemají naději, žijí v jediném z možných světů a jsou odsouzeni k tomu být sami sebou tak, jak historicky mometnálně dopadli, protože dnešek je navždy.
