Made to Last || Tyler Seguin/Jamie Benn Pt. 22
A/N: I'm thinking there's going to be just 1 or 2 more parts to this story unless y'all want more. I definitely cried writing this.
Song Inspo: Made to Last by Issues & You're Not Sorry Taylor Swift
Paring: Tyler x Reader Jamie x Reader
Warnings: Cussing, angst
Word Count: 1216
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N's P.O.V.
Last night you cried yourself to sleep, mourning the relationship you and Tyler once had. You came to a conclusion, whether you and Jamie work out or not, you still have to have this conversation with Tyler. Just the thought of what you're about to tell the man you used to think you were going to spend the rest of your life with guts you. Part of you wishes you could be a chicken shit and do this over the phone. As you wait for the door to open you try to collect your thoughts.
"Y/N now's not really a good time." Tyler's greeting is laced with annoyance. Not exactly the greeting you were hoping for. Though you can't really say you're surprised.
"Tell Nessa to put some clothes on, or tell her to wait. We need to have this conversation, and we need to have it now. I also need to get the rest of my things." Maybe this conversation will be easier than you thought. Rolling his eyes, Tyler steps to the side inviting you in.
"So this is it?" He asks.
"Tyler, I've wasted all this time waiting and hoping you'd come around. I've been giving out chances and every time all you do is let me down. And it's taken me this long to figure it out. You're thinking we'll be fine, because every time you fuck up I come running back, but not this time around. Could've loved you all my life if you hadn't left me waiting in the cold. You had me crawling for your love, and it never would've gone away. You used to shine so bright, but I watched all of it fade You can tell me you're sorry, but I don't believe you like I did before.  I don't want to hurt anymore. It's not just me I have to look out for anymore. Part of me was hoping we'd work out for our child, but you accusing me of cheating, and you running back to the arms of Nessa the second something seemed off between us is the last straw. So you don't have to worry about the 2 of us anymore. I'm done, we're done. The baby and I deserve so much better and more than you could ever give." You were proud of yourself, not a single tear was shed.
"I'm sorry." That's all he had to say. After 2 and a half years, all he had to say was he was sorry.  You had hoped that maybe he would've shown that he still cared, but he didn't.
"You're not, but that's okay. I'm really sorry. I'll grab my things and be out of your hair." You reach in your back pocket and grab the ring he gave you, "give this to someone you really want forever with, not because you feel guilty." With that, you go collect your things.
"What are you doing here?" Nessa hisses. Lovely.
"Don't worry you dumb bitch I'm just here to get my shit and go." You can't see what Tyler sees in her, maybe she's got a pussy of gold. That's the only thing that would be appealing about her.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tyler's P.O.V.
"Y/N, before you go I feel like I need to give my side." Right now seemed like the best time to come clean. She's already leaving me, not that I blame her.
"It's not going to change anything Ty, I've made my mind up, and seeing Nessa here just cemented my choice."
"What I have to say is only going to make things worse." I take a deep breath, " I can't tell you why or when but I lost feelings for you, and around that time I started seeing Nessa again. I know it was wrong, but I just didn't see a way out. I figured if I was a big enough dick eventually you would've left me like you're doing now. I really am sorry I thought hurting you was the best option. That being said, you can drop the whole pregnancy facade." The look on Y/N's face tells me I struck a nerve.
"You're a fucking idiot." Is all she had to say before slamming my door in my face. We hadn't been having a lot of sex in the first place with her being stabbed and all, so there was no way she is pregnant with my child. There was a small voice in the back of my head telling me she wouldn't lie about something like that, but I refused to believe her. If I believed her, that makes me an even bigger asshole than I intended to be.
A knock on the door pulls me out of my thoughts. Maybe Y/N forgot something? She's about the only person I could think of that would knock. To my surprise it's Jamie.
"Why the hell are you knocking?" I ask.
"We need to have a little chat." Something is off in his tone. My gut tells me whatever he's about to say isn't going to be something I like. Stepping to the side I let him in. "I've done a lot of thinking and I feel it's best that I tell you how I'm feeling." What the hell is he talking about?
"Okay? If you're about to tell me what a shitty person I am, Y/N did a pretty good job of that already, and sadly I don't give a shit." There is a small part of me that does feel bad for the shit I've done, but I don't really care.
"I'm glad she did. Tyler you fucked up, bad. But I'm not here to yell at you. I've already told Y/N, but I feel like you deserve to know that I'm in love with her." What. The. Fuck. "I don't know why or when but I'm in love with her. Like I said I already told her, and if she decided to have me, I'm going to treat her right."
"How long have you 2 been fucking?" Logically I know Jamie wouldn't do that to me, but right now I'm not thinking logically. Of all the people I could see Y/N moving on with, I never would've thought it'd be my best friend. I thought she'd leave Texas and I'd never see her again. That's what made this so easy. Seeing her happy and thriving is something I don't know if I can handle.
"You're a fucking idiot. You know better than that. She was or is madly in love with you, she would've never done you dirty the way you've done her dirty. I was happy to sit back and let you two be happy, but you went a fucked up again. So now if she'll let me, I'm going to step up to the plate and treat her the way you should've from the start."
"So you're just going to throw away our friendship over a little bit of pus-," before I could finish my sentence his fist connected with my jaw.
"You are the only person to blame for our friendship being what it is now. And don't you ever talk about Y/N that way. We both know she's more than that." I haven't seen Jamie this pissed since the morning Y/N left the first time.

Three's Company
Warnings: mfm poly relationship, it's filthy.... I don't know. Also I wrote it as snippets along the relationship timeline so that's a thing.
---------------------------------------------------------
There had always been drawbacks to 'dating' Tyler. You'd followed him from Toronto to Boston looking for a change of scenery, and eventually the two of you started hooking up. It was a completely casual, and you'd take little breaks here and there to see other people. Initially though it just made sense. You cooked together, hung out together, and occasionally slept together. You felt like amplified best friends, and it worked for where you were in life.
Of course his trade to the Stars was a little unexpected, but it brought you two a little bit closer. Another move, and the decision to get a dog settled you both down and made you start thinking about maybe making a serious go of your relationship. Then he'd brought Jamie over, and you were done. He was like the opposite of Tyler and you loved it. Shy, and sweet but the ability to be ferocious bordering on animalistic.
Tyler was more goofy and fun, with a passion that left you feeling weak, but overall he was way more high energy than Jamie. You'd gotten close to Jamie as he and Tyler built a relationship, and you didn't know how to broach the subject with either man. You wanted them both, and it was so obvious to you that if you could make it happen for the three of you that was ideal situation.
Of course being as, while you and Jamie both had a shy side, Tyler did not and he full on approached the subject over dinner one night. You'd nearly swallowed your chicken whole, and Jamie choked on his beer at Tyler's proclamation that the two of them should share you.
"Tyler," you hissed.
"What? Come on babe, we both know you'd be into it," he grinned. "I've seen you check Chubbs out."
You couldn't deny it, so you acted maturely and stuck your tongue out at him, while Jamie stared in between the two of you.
"I'd be willing to try it," Jamie offered after a moment. Tyler lit up like Christmas then.
"Yes! I knew this would work out," he beamed wrapping his arms around your shoulders.
That first night was awkward and it took a while to feel completely comfortable. It seemed no matter what you did someone was being left out, and you weren't used to splitting your focus in bed. It seemed as though when Tyler would thrust Jamie would pull, or vice versa, and you quickly felt overwhelmed by the amount of hands on your body. Finally though as you laid in-between the two men you realize just how perfect it all felt.
-------------------------------
After that first time it seemed like none of you could stay away. Jamie had tried to back off, not wanting to overstep, but you'd shown up at his door with Tyler in tow and the three of you had set up ground rules. You'd be free to sleep with either or both of them, whenever or however no hold barred. You threw out that they could sleep with one another if they wanted to, and then laughed as they both looked at you completely unamused. Of course as time went on you almost became convinced that the were, even if neither mentioned it to you. You had set up a limitation that if they wanted to sleep with other women you did prefer that they used protection. Both of them thought about and decided that they didn't want to do that. You knew it wasn't exactly fair, but you weren't going to argue either.
You'd gone back and forth on living arrangements for months after that. Transferring between Tyler's and Jamie's, before deciding that you should probably get a place all together. You'd make sure each of the boys had their own space, but you couldn't keep track of where any of your stuff was and it was driving you crazy.
As you moved in though you realized your one mistake, it seemed these two were completing constantly.
Who loaded more boxes? Tyler claimed it, but you'd noted Jamie taking a couple more than him. Not that you would tell anyone. You just laughed and shook your head.
Who brought in more boxes? Definitely Jamie, Tyler was outside showing the dogs their new yard.
Who put more boxes away? That was you, but then again you didn't really want them touching your clothes or trying to put dishes away.
Who set up more electronics? Tyler, hands down. Jamie had a hard time managing his own spotify account, and Tyler would be pissed if he missed any golf.
All day it went like that. You couldn't help but laugh at their pitiful faces when they lost one of their challenges either. You'd just pull them into a hug, and stroke their hair while high fiving the winner.
You'd thought through all the different options for bedrooms, and eventually decided that your room would be the common room. If the three of you decided to spend the night together, which you often did, you'd do that in your room. Jamie and Tyler each had their own rooms, so that they could decompress or be separated if the need arose.
That first night though, you felt completely relaxed. Both men had followed you up to bed and before you'd even finished your nighttime routine Tyler was behind you, lips on your neck. He walked to towards the bed with his hands guiding your hips. Once you were in-between Jamie' thighs he pulled you into himself, and pulled your chin up. He trapped your lips in a searing kiss, before his hands began to wander.
Tyler moved to cup your breasts, while Jamie palmed your ass, and they seemed to work in sync at trying to turn you into jello. They'd rotate between your lips and neck, and as soon as one broke for air the other was pulling your face back towards them. Teasing hands, gentle lips, co-mingled with the scratch of facial hair on your skin, and you'd never been so happy that most of the time all three of you slept in the nude. Jamie eventually moved back onto the bed pulling you with him, and resting you over his hardness. Instinctively you ground down on him, causing him to groan out.
Tyler walked around the bed, and Jamie flipped you over and started preparing to enter you from behind. Meanwhile Tyler nudged your lips with his cock, instinctively you opened up letting him enter your mouth. He and Jamie both groaned over you as they slid home, and you felt deliciously full. At this point the three of you knew your dance well, so as Jamie started moving so did Tyler. Jamie usually took the lead, so he would thrust and Tyler would follow, keeping you in a perfect rhythm. The ebb and flow of them worked your body into a state of utter bliss, and before you knew it you were spasming around Jamie. You vaguely heard him swear as you fell under the waves of your own orgasm.
"FUCK," Jamie yelled as he sent ropes of hot cum into your pussy. Before you could react, or even fully recover you felt Tyler (who'd pulled out of your mouth when you'd orgasmed) pull you onto his own cock. If Jamie was rough, and feral with his thrusts Tyler was meticulous and operated with precision. Jamie wanted to throw you into an orgasm, thriving off of the intensity. Tyler want to draw them out of you, wanting to be in control.
Tyler worked your clit as his slowly thrust towards his own completion, you felt yourself quivering within minutes. Jamie leaned forward catching your lips in his, as Tyler worked your neck again. Finally you cried out as you clenched around Tyler. Satisfied he allowed himself to release deep inside of you, he held your hips as you slumped forward into Jamie.
You were aware of Tyler whispering praise to you as Jamie grabbed a towel to clean you up. Tyler got the covers pulled back and after you were cleaned up Jamie slid in on the other side of you. Your head on Tyler's shoulder, as Jamie wrapped his tattooed arm around you. You fell asleep completely warm and comfortable.
-------------------------
The downside to your relationship was easily that you could only publicly lay claim to one of the guys at a time, and it had just been easier to stay Tyler's girlfriend. As you stood outside the locker room waiting for the guys to come out you noticed the crowd of girls gathered around by the barricade in their Benn jerseys and it made you see red. You tried really hard to hide your jealousy, but it wasn't always do-able. Tyler came out first wrapping you in his arms, excited after a win.
"Ugh, I wish they all went like that!" He exclaimed, spinning you around. It took him a moment to realize your excitement was a little faked. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, it's stupid," you mumbled. Jamie probably would've left it alone, but Tyler liked to pick. He thought exposing where your weaknesses were made you stronger as a unit.
"Nope, gotta talk about it," he sing songed as you waited for Jamie.
"Ugh, fine," you huffed. "It's just hard knowing we're going to walk by those girls over there and there's nothing I can do. At least people know we're together. Jamie's like this free man, you know? I feel like I have no public claim and it sucks."
Tyler looked like he wanted to laugh, which caused you to roll your eyes, "It's not funny Ty."
"What's not funny?" Jamie asked as he walked out of the locker room. You couldn't help but appraise how good he looked too. You wanted to kiss him... But you knew that wouldn't happen until you were in the car. Meaning first you had to brave the throngs.
"Someone's jealous," Tyler answered, as you blushed.
"Oh, really?" Jamie laughed.
"You guys both suck," you said as you stomped away.
They laughed as the followed you, as Tyler shouted, "You're hot when you're mad,"Causing the girls you were passing to go crazy.
You turned around and flipped them both off, before resuming your march back to the car. Surprisingly Jamie showed up before Tyler, and you quirked an eyebrow.
"He's signing jerseys," Jamie explained.
"You know it's just as strange for me too," Jamie said after a long moment. You turned and looked at him, confused. "I have to give vague answers about who I'm seeing, or make sure if I post a picture of us together Tyler is there.... It's not any easier just because some girls think I'm single. I don't feel single. I'm so crazy in love with you it blows me away, I don't want to hide or pretend that this isn't real. It is, and I need to know that you know that."
You launched yourself at him then, fusing your lips to his as you leaned over the console, "I love you too, Jamie," you said. "I don't question your love. I just wish I could express it more publicly."
You settled back into your seat, and you noticed Tyler walking towards the car. He pouted as he got in the backseat.
"Just get my number tattooed on you," Jamie joked, winking at you as Tyler got settled.
"Well you are my favorite," you played along.
"Excuse me," Tyler interjected. "If you're getting anyone's number it should be mine! I like tattoos more," he proclaimed. "Besides I thought you were mad at Jamie, now you're ganging up on me!"
"What can we say Tyler, we're just emotionally healthy," Jamie joked. "You're the one who decided to hand out and flirt."
You laughed as Tyler grumbled in the backseat.
----------------------
Fifteen days. The words felt like an echo in your mind, resonating with self pity. Jamie and Tyler would be gone for fifteen miserable days, and someone had to stay home with the dogs. Gerry laid his head in your lap as you sat on the couch, and both boys were packing.
"I'm mad at you," you whispered to him. He looked at you, before deciding to kiss your cheek. "Yeah yeah, you're forgiven," you sighed getting up off the couch.
"Jamie!" You called out, walking up stairs.
"What?" He yelled from his closet, you went in search of him.
"What are you doing?" You whined.
"I'm packing baby," he said gently. Kind of confused.
"You're supposed to be the responsible one, why'd you wait until the last minute?" You groaned flopping on his bed. It had been almost a year in this house and you could count on one hand the number of times he'd slept in here. Tyler got banished more to his room than Jamie ever did.
"Because you insisted that it was more important that we play Mario last night," he reminded you.
Tyler came wandering down the hall just then, "Hey Jamie, do you have any..." He laughed when he saw you. "Someone's feeling whiny huh?"
"You have no idea," you pouted. "If I kneecap you can you stay home?" You asked sitting up.
"They'd sideline me, I'd still have to go," he reminded you.
"Jamie," you pouted. "You're the captain, can't you do anything?"
"Sure," he lied, wanting to antagonize you. "But I won't." He grinned.
"You're both awful," you grumped. "I'm going to spend so much money while you're gone."
That one got Jamie to laugh, "And that's different... how?"
You sighed dramatically, as you headed for the door, "I don't like either of you anymore."
You heard their laughter as you went in search of something to keep you distracted. You wound up just cleaning the kitchen, and when you did you found a business card for the tattoo artist that the guys used. You'd never gotten one, but you did want one. It gave you an idea, and you tucked the card into your back pocket as you heard the guys coming downstairs.
Tyler kissed you first, a playful nip on your lips followed by a slow dance with his tongue. Jamie was more forceful, crushing your body into his as he cupped your face. They really were two halves that made you feel whole, and you felt so overwhelmed by how much you simply just felt for them.
-------
When the guys got home, they were surprised you weren't at the door waiting like normal. Instead you were out in the pool with the dogs. You smiled brightly as they came out to greet you.
"The fearsome warriors return," you giggled.
"Ah, mi'lady twas a long journey. We have returned more victorious than not," Tyler played along, while Jamie shook his head chuckling.
"Well, I got you a present," you smiled, getting out and walking towards them.
"And here we just brought laundry," Jamie grinned catching you by the waist and kissing you deeply.
You moaned at the taste of his lips, trying to deepen it, before you heard Tyler clear his throat, "What about me." You laughed at his playful pout. Extracting yourself from Jamie and kissing Tyler. There was more playfulness there. Little nips and he drew your bottom lip between his teeth before releasing you.
"Now what about our present," Tyler wiggled his eyebrows.
"Not that you perv," you playfully slapped at him. Then appraising the two of them you added, "Well not yet anyway."
You undid the leather cuff on your left wrist and proudly showed off your new tattoo, "Look!"
You had a small heart inked on your skin with the numbers 914 in the center. You grinned broadly as they took it in, Tyler as usual reacted first. Kissing you deeply, while Jamie grabbed your wrist and kissed the mark on your flesh.
"Absolutely perfect," he grinned.
Tyler nodded his agreement, "Yep, I agree."

What could go wrong? Pt. 1

What could go wrong? Pt 1
(Photo isn’t mine)
AN: So this is it, the Tyler Seguin/Jamie Benn fic I’ve been considering. Had to start writing it because election stress has been wild and who doesn’t need a distraction? I haven’t written in forever, so be kind to me! This is part one of a multi-part story....definitely will get smuttier in later chapters!
Hope you all enjoy! Let me know what you think and if you want to read more!
Pt.2
What could go wrong? Pt. 1
You sighed as you walked out of the backroom and onto the floor of the Starbucks you worked at part time as a supervisor while finishing your degree. The café was fairly empty, there were two men at the till being helped by one of your baristas. You glanced at both of them before moving past the tills. They weren’t bad looking; tall, muscular, great beards…sadly you looked fairly ordinary in your uniform. They both seemed oddly familiar, but you just couldn’t place them.
You overheard one of them mutter “oh maybe she knows,” as you walked past. Feeling bold you quickly turned around and looked at them before making your way back to the till area.
“Oh no, I wouldn’t count on that, I don’t even work here,” you joked as one of them laughed and the other blushed. They were both so attractive in their own ways, you couldn’t decide who you liked more. “I’ll be in the back, call me if you need me,” you said to your barista before quickly scurrying off from the intense gaze of both men. When you reached the backroom, you glanced over your shoulder again and they were both still staring at you and whispering.
A short time later you came out of the back room again holding the binder that the supervisors communicated in, you glanced towards the hand off area at the end of the café and happily smiled when you noticed the two guys had left. You stepped out from behind the counter and made your way to lean on the bar at the other end of the store, so you could observe the store and make some notes. You were lost in your writing when you heard a voice right in your ear causing you to jump.
“Looks a lot like you do work here!”
You glanced over your shoulder to see one of the guys from the till standing right behind you. You glanced behind him and noticed his friend sitting in the corner of the café. You threw up your hands in defeat, “Guess you caught me,” you said while jokingly sighing. He chuckled at your response, you admired his deep laugh. Definitely hot, you decided in your head.
“Seems like you’re not very good at keeping a secret.”
“Little do you know,” you said while chuckling.
“I’d like to,” he quipped back, the intense gaze returning. You felt your cheeks get warm instantly while you glanced away for a second. You noticed a few of your baristas had stopped working and were staring at the interaction before quickly getting back to work when they noticed you were looking. They seemed shocked to see you talking to this attractive man, to be fair, you rarely ever engaged in flirtations at work. Glancing back at the man, you realized his hand was outstretched to shake yours. You took his hand in yours and instantly, it was like fireworks. You glanced up into his piercing brown eyes and couldn’t look away. “I’m Tyler and that’s Jamie.” He said while nodding to the table his friend was at. You nodded at his friend.
“Y/N,” you said while still shaking his hand.
“Nice to meet you Y/N. What’s a pretty girl like you doing at Starbucks in Dallas?”
“Well, I mean, I work here,” you said while gently dropping his hand.
“I figured,” he chuckled. “I meant why are you in Dallas, you don’t sound like you’re from around here?”
“Trying to learn my whole life story? We just met Tyler.” You truthfully weren’t from Texas at all, you were Canadian and had only moved to the state because they had a good Master’s program that you got into.
“What can I say, I’m a sucker for a girl with a great laugh.”
You felt your cheeks get warm again, very clearly blushing now. You tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear, “What’s a guy like you doing at a Starbucks in Dallas?”
“It’s on our way to work,” Tyler said while gesturing at his friend who waved shyly from the table.
 “What do you do?”
“Would you believe me if I said we played hockey?” he asked skeptically. Your eyebrows shot up, that’s where you knew them from. They played for the Dallas Stars. You were a huge hockey fan, but the Stars weren’t necessarily your main team, you had only moved here for school, so you hadn’t followed them for long. Your Starbucks was 5 minutes from the American Airlines Center, so you were honestly surprised you hadn’t noticed more hockey players in your store from time to time.
“No shit!” You exclaimed before realizing you must seem extremely excited.
 “Hockey fan?”
“Can you be Canadian without being a hockey fan? That’s like a crime.”
 “Very true. Where in Canada?”
“Tyler, you’re gonna have to work harder than that to get my life story.”
He laughed and nodded his head. “I respect that….you ever interested in heading to a Stars game?”
Your eyes almost popped out of your head, was he offering to give you tickets to a game? I mean it was a dream, but you doubted it. “Oh, I don’t really have time for that,” you said quickly while moving to go around him. Tyler was way too hot and you didn’t want to continue making a fool of yourself at work.
“I thought you liked hockey?” he called after you. You stopped and turned back around to look at him.
Before you could respond you heard one of the baristas calling over the counter, “She’s obsessed with hockey!” You looked over to see your best friend Emma smirking at you from behind the counter. Emma had always encouraged you to put yourself out there more, and not focus as much time on work and school. But you’d dated some crappy guys, so you put more of your attention into school anyways. I mean you were 27, and you just needed to finish this degree.
“Oh really?” Tyler said while smirking at you. That damn smirk was deadly.
“Yeah, we bought her tickets to the next home game for her birthday,” Emma called back. You whipped your head around to glare at her, she continued to smirk back at you over her glasses.
“You were going to a Stars game tomorrow and you weren’t going to tell me?” he said while putting his hand to his chest, clearly faking being hurt by this.
“We just met Tyler,” you said while laughing at his goofy gesture.
“Ty, we gotta head out. We’re going to be late for practice!” Jamie called while standing from the table. You smiled at him while he made his way to the door. He shot you a signature Jamie Benn smile back, and you swear you could’ve melted right there.
“Come down to the locker room after the game,” Tyler said while stepping closer to you. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and held it out to you. “Say you will, give me your number and I’ll tell you how to get there.
“Ty!” Jamie called again from the door. Captain didn’t want to be late.
“I don’t know…” you said while still not taking the phone.
“Please!” he gave you puppy dog eyes, so you held out your hand to take his phone. He smiled when you gave in and handed the phone to you. You added your number and name before handing the phone back to him.
“Now get to practice, don’t want to upset the Captain.”
Tyler laughed while starting to walk towards the door, “I’ll text you!” he called as he left.
“Yeah right,” you muttered as your turned and made your way back behind the counter. You made a beeline to Emma who was still standing by the counter she was eavesdropping over. “What the fuck was that?!” you whisper shouted at her.
“That was you getting a hot guys phone number!” she shrugged.
“Em, you know he isn’t actually going to text.”
“I wouldn’t be so skeptical, he seemed pretty into you. They both did.”
“They’re hockey players, they don’t want anything to do with a barista,” you rolled your eyes while crossing your arms.
“Girl, you’re clearly a 10, of course they would.”
 “Whatever! He won’t text though.”
“Who knows? If he does we get to go down to the locker room and meet the team, if he doesn’t we still have an awesome time at the game!”
“I guess….” You trailed off while your mind wandered to the two beautiful hockey players you had just met.
“You’re blushing!” Emma exclaimed excitedly. It was very rare you ever blushed over a guy, let alone two guys.
“Get back to work!” you shouted before quickly walking away from her. You still couldn’t get them out of your head. Had they really both seemed into you? You shook your head, there was no way. They could have any girl they wanted, there’s no way you caught both their eyes. You shrugged off the interaction and tried to move on with your day. Despite trying your hardest, Jamie and Tyler were still on your mind.
  --------------------------
 Tyler’s POV
I could feel myself smiling as we made your way out to your car, but I didn’t care. Y/N was funny, hot, and into hockey. You couldn’t ask for a better girl to run into at a Starbucks.
“Dude, I think you freaked her out,” Jamie said as you both reached the car. You shrugged your shoulders while opening the passenger side door.
“I can talk to girls Chubb’s.”
“Clearly Tyler, I just don’t think she was expecting that today.”
You raised your eyes, Jamie was blushing. Why would he care so much? “Jamie are you jealous?” I said through a smirk as you slid into his car.
“I mean, she was pretty,” Jamie shrugged as his cheeks turned red. I smacked his arm across the console.
 “You are jealous!”
“Shut up! I need a drink after practice,” Jamie said while shaking his head and driving away from the coffee shop.
 (end of Tyler’s POV)
----------------------------
“I got you tequila!” You glanced up to see Emma passing you a shot glass. You rolled your eyes, taking the shot from her.
“It’s funny, I thought I asked for a beer,” you said while setting the shot down on the table.
“But you’re more fun on tequila,” Emma whined as she downed her shot like a pro.
“Tequila makes me do stupid things,” you said while downing the shot as well.
“Exactly! See anyone you want to do stupid things with here?”
 “Em!”
“Hey! We came here to have fun!” Emma shouted while looking around the crowded bar. It was unusually busy in one of your favorite, and usually quiet bars. You glanced around and noticed a huge group of guys on the other side of the bar. Looking around more, your eyes locked with a very familiar brunette’s. Shit! That was Jamie fucking Benn standing right beside Tyler.
“Oh shit!” you exclaimed while looking away and trying to hide your face.
“What?” Emma asked looking over in the direction you were just looking. She loudly gasped, clearly noticing the same person you did. “Isn’t that the hot hockey boy you were flirting with this morning?”
“His friend flirted with me! And don’t be so loud!”
 “Why?”
“Cause they’ll see us you boob!” you whisper shouted at her and she continued to be as loud as ever. You glanced back up from the table to see Jamie looking over at your table still. He raised his eyebrows at you. You smiled in his direction and quickly glanced away again. “Shit, I need another drink,” you said as you quickly got up from the table.
“They’re coming over here Y/N!” Emma called after you as you made your way towards the bar. You ordered two more tequila shots from the bartender and took a deep breath. You glanced back over your shoulder and noticed Emma was indeed chatting with Jamie and Tyler back at your table. You were here to have fun, let loose. What’s the worst that could happen? You downed the two shots before making your way back to your table.
“Fancy seeing you here!” Tyler said as he held his arms out for a hug. You stared at him for a moment before leaning in to return the hug. He smelled amazing, you couldn’t explain it, but like that distinct hot boy smell….he had it.
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were stalking me Tyler,” you joked while stepping away from the hug.
“Am I? Or is the hockey obsessed girl stalking me?” Tyler quipped back.
“You wish,” I smiled while nudging him. I turned to Jamie who was leaning back laughing at his friend. “Hey, I’m Y/N. Tyler didn’t actually introduce us this morning.”
“How rude of him, nice to meet you!” Jamie said while Tyler smacked him on the chest. You laughed at Tyler getting a little embarrassed by his friend.
“I know, so rude. That’s why I like you more already,” you smirked in Jamie’s direction. Damn, he sure was cuter in person than you’d ever imagined he would be. Everyone laughed at Tyler’s expense before Emma suggested ordering more shots. Hey, what could go wrong? You were just out for a fun night.
 -------------------------------
You woke up to the soft buzzing of your phone. You pried open your eyes and slightly grimaced at the bright light on your screen. You glanced at the time on your screen, 7am shined back at you. You noticed a text from a number you didn’t recognize.
‘Hey, great to see you again last night. Let me know what section you’re sitting in tonight, and I’ll have someone come grab you after the game-Ty’
“Who is texting you so early?” you heard softly behind you. You almost jumped out of your skin as you scrambled and rolled over in your bed.
“Jesus!” you shouted as you turned over to see the tired eyes of the one and only Jamie Benn. You glanced down at his bare chest and then at your own before yanking your sheet up higher.
“Forget I was here?” he laughed. Suddenly, the memories of last night came flooding back to you. The 6 extra tequila shots, the beer, the jokes at Tyler’s expense, the hand on your knee under the table, the intense stares. Oh god, the kissing in the hallway by the bathroom at the bar, the hand way too far up your thigh on the cab ride home, fumbling for your keys as you were pressed against the door in more kissing. The sex, oh god, the incredibly amazing, hot sex. You remembered everything clearly now. Your hand came up to rub your eyes.
“No, no I’m just tired. That’s all,” you said while Jamie grabbed the hand that was covering your eyes and pressed a kiss to your palm. “Honestly I don’t usually do this type of thing after just meeting someone….but tequila.”
“Oh I know, tequila though,” he said while shifting his weight, so he was hovering over top of you. His breath ghosting against your skin, sending shivers down your spine. “How do we feel about round 2 without tequila?” he asked while settling himself between your thighs and nipping at your neck. Your phone buzzed again as you glanced at the screen out of the corner of your eye, heavily distracted by Jamie’s antics.
‘Hope I didn’t wake you, you had a pretty wild night!-Ty’
You looked back up at the gorgeous captain, feeling the intense gaze on you again. Shoving your phone off to the side while nodding your head. “Yeah why not,” you whispered before leaning up to kiss Jamie again.

It feels so good to update! I hope you enjoy this and thank you to all who were so patient-💕
Tumblr media
Much to Ava’s dismay Tyler turned out to not be so bad. It would have been so much easier to put distance between them if he hadn’t been so damn likeable but he was.
He made her laugh, and while her guard was still up, he had made a dent in her life. She was comfortable now with his flirting but she never returned it. It almost made him a little sad because he knew deep down there was a whole side of her he might never see. She was so closed off from him and he started to notice little things about her the more he spent time with her.
She hardly wore any makeup, and while she didn’t need it he suspected that that was not the reason she didn’t wear it. She wore a lot of loose clothing, and very rarely showed much skin unless she was wearing shorts. She never did much with her hair, and he couldn’t figure out why. It’s was thick and long but it hung there, straight every day or in a ponytail. She wasn’t overly social, she didn’t make eye contact, and the only time she ever lit up was when you was talking about her students or when she was with the dogs.
It was sad, heartbreaking even to see this girl, not only beautiful outside but beautiful inside, which he could see even from the small glimpses he got.
“ I just don’t get it. I’ve tried everything.” Tyler said to Jamie during golfing one day. While the other guys ragged on him about girls, Jamie took a more philosophical approach. He’s had his own share of relationship struggles and was able to give him an unbiased view point.
“Maybe your going about it the wrong way Seggs.”
“What other way is there?”
“Well.” He leaned on his club “It sounds like she was burned pretty badly. I don’t know her, but that messes people up. Maybe she needs you to show her that your not going to do it. Reassurance, affirmation, and words can show that more than flirting.”
“I’m better at flirting.”
Jamie pulled a face at him “Have you asked her about it? The guy?”
“I’m almost afraid to, but she just said he ruined her life. She didn’t say how.”
“Maybe it’s time you find out. The worst she can do is not tell you, right?”
“No the worst she can do is tell me to fuck off.”
Jamie pursed his lips and shrugged “True. Only one way to find out.”
“I was thinking of having a get together. Asking her to come.”
“If she’s okay with hanging out with you alone I don’t see why not, but if she says no you have to respect that.”
“I will, just hoping she says yes.”
“You must be pretty hung up on the girl.”
“Is it that obvious?”
“Yeah. I’m kicking your ass in golf and that never happens.”
“Shut up.”
*************
“A party?”
“A get together.” He corrected her, lobbing the hall for Molly. Molly was in way better shape than all three of his put together and since they’d been hanging out all of his dogs had dropped some weight. They never gave up though, and huffed and puffed as they chased after her. When he turned back to her, Ava’s face was solid as steel.
“Tyler-“
“Before you say no. Just think about it.”
“I don’t do the party thing.”
“Bring a friend, if you don’t wanna come you don’t have to. Either way, I’m coming to your school tomorrow. So think about it and give me an answer then.No pressure.”
No pressure from Tyler really meant that he wanted her to come really bad, but he would act like it was fine if she didn’t. She watched as Molly rolled around on the grass with Cash, and bit her lip.
She enjoyed hanging out with Tyler one on one, more than she ever thought she would have, but a party was so.
Public
She thought back to what Mila and Pierre said.
Deep down, they were right. Pierre, who barely knew her, was telling her from an unbiased 3rd party that she was being down right ridiculous for hiding from a guy she hadn’t seen or spoken to in years, and that was controlling her life from wherever he was. It wasn’t fair to her or anyone, and it wasn’t fair to Tyler. Brandon was holding her back from so much, but even as she realized it she could feel his invisible grip tighten on her subconscious.
She felt a tear come to her eye and she wiped at it, sniffling and drawing in a shuddering breath. Molly laid her head on her knee and whined softly.
“Oh Moll. What am I gonna do.” A tear ran down her cheek and dripped on to her arm followed by several more. She tilted her head towards the ceiling, blinking but she just couldn’t stop it. She had been on this path of self destruction for a while, holding everything in and burying it so deep, it had kindled and caught fire and had been smoldering for so long it was raging and she just couldn’t stop it. Waves of heat crept up her chest and neck as she heaved in a breath and choked out more sobs.
She was crying so hard she didn’t even hear her phone buzzing. It buzzed for a while as she sobbed, and shuddered and cried so hard she felt like she was going to throw up. A knock on her front door startled her and she stood quickly and hurried forward forgetting that she probably looked like a drowned rat.
She was more than surprised to come face to face with Tyler who looked alarmed when he saw her.
“What are you doing here?” She rasped at him, quickly wiping her cheeks.
“I called you like 10 times, and when you didn’t answer I got worried. Are you okay.” He reached an arm out, and though it normally would have made her recoil she let him rest a hand on her shoulder.
“No. I’m not.”
“Okay. Well we don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to, but I’m not leaving you here alone.”
He brushed past her and closed the door, before steering her to her sofa, giving Molly a pat on the head and raiding her cabinets till he found some alcohol. After a few moments of being seated across from her, he finally spoke.
“Ava.” He said gently “What happened to you? You don’t have to tell me, but it might help me understand if you did.”
Her lower lip trembled a little and she sniffed loudly.
“You wouldn’t understand.”
“No probably not. But I do understand that whatever it is has a pretty strong grip on you, and that your my friend and I’m worried about you.”
“Why? You barely know me Tyler.”
“I’m trying to. But you just never put down this wall and I don’t get why. I don’t understand, but maybe you can help me.”
She looked like a caged animal, shrunken down as far in her seat as she could, eyes red and cheeks tear stained. It broke Tyler’s heart.
“Do you-“ she started shakily “Do you remember when you asked me what guy ruined my life? The first time at the airport?” He nodded and she continued “He didn’t just ruin my life. He killed my brother.”
Tyler felt his blood run cold and the blood drain from his face. Ava was looking at her knees as a fresh trail of tears fell down, soaking into her jeans.
“Brandon was my first boyfriend, and also the last I ever had. He was what I thought love was supposed to be. But he was a fucking cancer and he poisoned every aspect of my life. The cheating, the drugs, the alcohol. And then he started hitting me. We got in this fight one night and I said I was done with him for good after I caught him with another girl. He got pissed off at me and he left me in a parking lot at 2 am.” She closed her eyes and swallowed hard, letting out a breath through her nose “I called my brother to come get me. Brandon was mad and not paying attention and hit my brother head on. He died a week later. And it’s all my fault.”
“Ava. You can’t blame yourself for that.”
“Why not?” She asked, voice cracking “If I hadn’t been so stupid he might still be alive. If I had just listened-“ she choked, losing it before she could finish the sentence. Tyler couldn’t take it anymore.
He scooted forward and pulled her into a hug, her face coming to rest against his shoulder. She cried silently, until the tears dissolved into hiccups and then he felt her stiffen.
“Thanks.” She said leaning up and moving away from him “Sorry for acting like a crazy person. Just lost it there.”
“Ava don’t-don’t do this.”
“Do what?”
“The ice queen act. You just opened up to me for the first time and just like that, you slammed the door again. Don’t.”
She looked dumbfounded, but he stood his ground and didn’t apologize. The only way to get through to her was to he honest.
“I’m trying really fucking hard here okay? And you just never let me all the way in, but I think you want to? I get that he messed you up, but Ava.” He very slowly reached for her hand “I would never do that to you.”
She was staring at his hand holding her own. Her cheeks were still red and her eyes were puffy but she wasn’t shuddering and heaving anymore. She just looked tired and moderately confused.
“I-I know. I know you wouldn’t. I’m just all over the place.” She let out a small chuckle and tucked her hair behind her ears “I’ll be okay.”
“Are you sure? I can stay for a while…but if not I’ll see you tomorrow yeah? At school?”
“I’m alright. Thanks for coming over, and yes I will see you tomorrow.”
Ava wasn’t a big hugger, but when Tyler reached for her she didn’t get stiff, or awkward or even pull away. She didn’t exactly grip him back the way he wanted her to but she did melt against him for the smallest fraction of a second but he felt it.
As he drove home he felt triumphant. He had worked hard, harder than he ever had and he had made a very small hole in the wall she had spent so many years building. It was minuscule, but it was definitely there. He smiled softly as he went about the rest of his night.
He wasn’t going to stop. He had seen a glimpse of the real Ava for the first time. A raw look at her, and it cemented his feelings even further. He would prove to her that one way or another she was worth it. And he was too.
**********
Ava was a bouncing ball of stress and vomit the next morning. She had fallen asleep thinking about Tyler and woken up thinking about Tyler and she was walking into school now…thinking about Tyler.
Brandon was vaguely in there somewhere, but her feelings were twisted and tangled and forming a very tight knot that was giving her a headache. She smiled absently at other teachers as she made her way into school and to her classroom.
The Dallas Stars would be at school in a little less than an hour. Her kids would be filing into her classroom in about 30 minutes, after which she would take attendance and they would bring the kids to the gym. The stars would not only be doing activities with the kids in the gym, but would be coming into the classroom also to do a project with the students and answer all their burning questions.
Ava hadn’t spoken to anyone besides Mila and Pierre about her encounter, and new found friendship with Tyler and she just knew that she would be bombarded by questions from her fellow staff members when they found out. She had always been friendly and polite, but she never indulged in gossip or talk about her personal life with anyone but Marcy. But not even she knew about Tyler.
Her kids filed in the room chattering excitedly, more than one of them dressed in victory green or sporting stars jerseys. There would be no point in trying to wrangle them so she busied herself with checking her emails and organizing her papers to grade while they hung out and waited for the principals morning announcements.
“Are you excited Miss A?”
Ava smiled tightly and nodded “Me? Are you guys excited?”
“So excited. So many cute guys!” The girls in her room dissolved into giggles and started whispering about the guys on the team. She could hear them say “Tyler Seguin” loud and clear more than once. She sighed and swallowed thickly.
It was going to be a very long day.
************
“So where’s this hot teacher-“
Tyler sent a flying elbow into Roope’s side causing him to yelp.
“We are in a school! And shut up. Your being so obvious.”
Jamie was giggling away from his other side as they watched the PR team talking with several of the school administrators. It looked like a pretty fun event. The gym was huge, and had different activities set up in different sections for the kids to try. While Tyler liked kids and enjoyed these types of trips he really just wanted to see Ava.
Teachers we’re beginning to bring groups into the gym, but so far he didn’t see anyone he recognized until he felt a presence at his shoulder.
“Who are you looking for?”
He turned to find Ava herself, standing slightly awkwardly next to him, but smiling all the same. He grinned and felt his ears get hot.
“Hey! I was looking for you. Figured you might have taken a sick day cuz you knew I was coming.”
She shrugged “I thought about it, but hanging out with you isn’t so bad, so I figured I’d suffer through it.” He rolled his eyes and gave her a nudge. “Which kids are yours?”
She held up a finger and pointed “Group 8.”
Fuck
He had group 6, but he was definitely switching with whoever had group 8. He chatted with her for another moment before they parted ways and she went to join her students.
“Who has group 8!” He whispered hurriedly. Esa held up his paper and had began to speak when Tyler ripped it from his hand and shoved his own Group 6 paper at him. He looked around seeing that Jamie, thank god, had the other group 8 paper.
“You weren’t kidding. She’s a fox.”
“Yeah Yeah I know.” He grumbled. He’d only ever seen her in gym clothing or leggings but seeing her dressed for school was like seeing a whole new Ava. She wore a long sleeve burgundy shirt, dark jeans, and a pair of boots. She still had her long hair pulled straight and very little makeup on, but she carried herself different today. Maybe it was the influence of work, but he also wondered if maybe she felt better. She had opened up to him a little about her past and he knew that if he was her, it would have made him feel better. He was jarred from his thoughts when he heard a microphone squeal and the principle clear his throat.
He welcomed the team and explained how the day was going to go, the schedule and who would be assigned to which groups.
Ava felt a small pang in her stomach when she heard ‘Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin will be assigned to Group 8 today.’ And wondered if he planned that. Tyler wandered over with a very tall, pleasantly handsome dark haired teammate, who smiled and extended a hand.
“You must be Ava. I’m Jamie.” Normally Ava would have politely smiled back and stiffly shook his hand, but something about his big eyes and warm smile didn’t set off sirens in her head, but rather made her give a genuine smile back.
“It’s nice to meet you Jamie.”
“I’ve heard a lot about you.” He gave Tyler a small glance and then smiled wider when Tyler glared at him.
“Oh yeah?”
Tyler smiled nervously and cleared his throat “Anyways. Where are we heading first?” he moved past her to introduce himself and Jamie to the kids and then led them to the first activity of the day, leaving her at the back of the group with Jamie.
“He likes you, you know.” Jamie said quietly. His voice was soft, like his eyes and he sounded genuine.
“He thinks he likes me. But I’m not his type.”
Jamie rolled his eyes and chuckled “No your not, and believe me when I tell you that’s a good thing.”
“How so?”
“Seggs is my best buddy, and I know when he’s being serious about something. These other girls that throw themselves at him don’t really catch his attention anymore. But you have.”
“But I didn’t do anything.”
“On the contrary, you have done more by not doing anything than you ever could have if you did something.” He furrowed his eyebrows “Did that make sense?”
“Not at all.”
He smiled and chuckled and she did too before he spoke “Really though, he’s a good guy. Just give him a chance to prove it to you.”
“I’ll-I’ll keep it in mind.”
He smiled and walked forward to help Tyler hand the kids their stuff. Tyler sent him a look and gave her a tight smile before he turned to Jamie.
“What was that about?”
“We we’re talking about you. Don’t worry.” He said when Tyler opened his mouth to speak “I said all good things. And I only lied a little.”
“Great.”
**********
Ava smiled in spite of herself as she watched the kids goof around across the gym.
“Tyler Seguin is staring at you.”
She turned to find Marcy at her elbow and followed her gaze to find that Tyler was in fact looking.
“Uh yeah I know. I know him.”
“You what?” She hissed “How?”
“We had the same flight on the way back here. He’s from Brampton.” She explained the encounter and the flight and then the park a few days later.
“Don’t we have some kind of communication system for ‘I met a hot guy who’s a superstar’ and other important events?”
“Stop. He’s a hockey player not Jesus. We’re friends.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Positive. Now go away.”
Marcy gave her a nudge and went back to her group. Tyler had now appeared on her other side and smiled.
“Having fun?” She asked.
“Tons. I love this kind of stuff, and kids. This is a great group.”
“They are. This is really good for them.”
“Plus I get to see you again….”
“That reminds me…I wanted to say thanks. For not thinking I’m a total basket case after yesterday. I lost my mind for a little while there.”
He frowned and his eyes softened. He reached one hand forward and gripped her wrist softly “Your not a basket case, and you don’t have to thank me. I should be thanking you.”
“For what?”
“For telling me all that. Your so closed off. It felt good to know you trusted me enough to tell me. Did it make you fee better?”
She thought for a moment “It did actually.”
“Good. Then that’s what’s important.”
The rest of the morning passed by and then the kids had lunch with the players before they sat down for the Q&A part of the day. Ava was standing at the back of the room listening as different kids asked different players questions, until Rachel one of her boy crazy girls raised her hand.
“My question is for Tyler? Do you have a girlfriend?” The group of girls she was sitting with giggled at her question and for the briefest of seconds Tyler and Ava made eye contact. Her breath hitched in her throat and she stiffened as he began to answer.
“Not right now.”
He continued to stare at her for a minute until another student asked him a question. Her heart was beating entirely too loud and she was sure everyone in the room could hear it. She didn’t hear anything past that, but she couldn’t stop the deep blush that had spread across her cheeks.
“Are you okay?” She jumped and turned to find Principle Phillips staring at her “Your very flushed.”
“Oh I’m okay. Just a bit warm is all.”
The Stars left shortly after, and Ava took her kids back to the room. There was an hour of school left, and she gave them a free period. She was exhausted and she needed time to think. Tyler was waiting on an answer about the party he wanted her to come to. She let her fingers hover over the keyboard for a minute before she typed out a message.
Okay. I’ll come to this party. What time ?
T: really? Hell yeah you can come whenever, Just as long as your coming.
A:I’ll be there.
************
“She’s coming don’t worry.” Jamie said chuckling into his drink. Jamie O was chuckling “Seggs are you nervous?”
“What?” He scoffed “I don’t get nervous okay.”
“Well if you aren’t nervous then trust me when I say she’s coming.”
“How do you know? Maybe she changed her mind.”
“She didn’t.”
“How do you know that though?”
“Because she’s right there.”
Tyler followed Jamie’s pointed finger and sucked in a deep breath. Ava was walking apprehensively towards them in a dark grey tank top that showed an inch or so, of flat stomach and blue jeans with holes in the knees. Her hair fell down in sleek strands to her elbows and her smile was nervous as she looked around.
“ Hey Ty?”
“Hmmmmmm?”
“Could you close your mouth? Your drool is getting my feet wet.” Jamie O laughed loudly and soon Jamie joined in and then even Tyler smiled in spite of himself as she finally reached him.
“Hi.” She said giving him a big smile
“Hi.” He reached for her awkwardly and gave her a hug that made her want to melt into his big chest but she restrained herself and let go after a few moments.
“ Wow I’m really underdressed.” She said looking around at the other partygoers and then down at herself.
“Nah. Trust me you don’t want to look like them.”Jamie said waving a hand “You look hot. Right Ty?”
Jamie and Jamie wore identical evil grins “Yeah you do. I didn’t mean that. I mean I did but I mean-your beautiful-I just- I need to stop talking.”
“I’ve never seen him this way. Who is this guy?” Jamie O whispered.
“Our boy is in love.” While Ava didn’t hear them Tyler did and he aimed a backhanded punch at whoever was closest before he spoke again “Can I get you a drink? The bar is in here.” He glared at them before he set off across the yard leading her inside.
He introduced her to his friends, and stayed close through the night.
“I thought you were gonna stand me up.” He admitted as they stood talking by the pool.
“Why?”
“Just had a feeling. But I’m really glad you came.”
“Me too. I’m having a good time.”
He smiled and she felt her resolve cracking underneath it. The alcohol mixed with his presence was absolutely intoxicating. She just wanted to kiss the socks off the guy. But while her brain was screaming “run for the hills” her heart was still insisting there would be kissing.
The alcohol was pounding in her ears as people began to filter out of Tyler’s yard, and her inner body parts continued to fight with one another. He yawned and turned to find her standing there. She smiled uncertainly.
“Do you-do you need help cleaning up?”
He smiled and shook his head “No. I usually hire like a crew to clean, but if you wanna hang out for a while that’d be cool.”
“Uh. Sure.”
She followed Tyler to the back porch when she felt woozy and stumbled.
“You okay?”
“I’m fine I just don’t drink very often oh-“ her flip flop caught on the pavement and she fell forward. He caught her, his big hands coming to grip her waist. She looked up in surprise and realized their faces were less than 6 inches apart. The air around them froze, and she felt a tightness in her chest as he looked at her eyes and then her mouth. She wanted to kiss him so damn bad but she was so petrified she couldn’t move, only watch as he leaned forward slightly and stopped as if asking for permission. She felt her heart rate pick up and she stiffened. This was too real and too scary. Her brain was screaming at the top of its lungs to stop and it was drowning out the words in her heart.
“Tyler.” She said softly. Everything about her eyes was saying kiss me but she was stiff in his arms and he could hear her heart beating. He had gotten to this point with her and as much as it pained him to do it, he slowly moved his hands from her arms and took a small step back.
“I’m sorry.” She said looking at her feet “I’m just-sorry.”
“Why won’t you let me in?” Tyler looked hurt and confused and it broke her heart to know it was because of her. He deserved so much, and she could never give that to him. She sputtered for a moment and then her eyes got glassy.
“I’m sorry I have to go.” He watched as she turned on her heel and disappeared from his sight as she called for an Uber. He sighed frustratedly and sat down on his back steps, head in his hands. Ava climbed into the backseat of the Uber and held it in until it dropped her off and she made it inside her house. And then she slid to the floor.
And cried.

Need You Part 3: Tyler Seguin
Hey guys, sorry for the long wait. Those of you who are still reading I hope you enjoy. This is a filler chapter if you will, but there’s some fun stuff in here so feel free to read and leave feedback. Love you all!
Prt 1.
Prt2.
Prt4.
x-x
“Okay, sign here and here and you guys will get the test results in 72 hours.” You signed the paper in front of you and watched Tyler hand his copy to the receptionist as well.
The two of you had decided  to get the test done, so with Ava in one arm and your purse and diaper bag in the other you put down your copy of the paperwork and walked out of the AAC’s medical center.
Of course they couldn’t go to a regular medical center, they couldn’t risk the news that if Ava was in fact Tyler’s kid then someone would spill it. It was a risk too high so when Tyler called you saying he had made a couple of phone calls and they could get the test done privately, you jumped at the opportunity
You didn’t wait for him, you just signed and left the center heading toward the parking structure without looking back. You still hadn’t given Tyler the chance to meet her and today wasn’t going to be that day at least that’s what you thought. You opened the back seat of your car and put Ava in her car seat.
“There you go baby,” You gave her her binky which she happily took and you watched as her eyes slowly fluttered closed. Getting into the car you nearly screamed when someone cleared their throat behind you.
“I’m sorry Y/n!” You turned around and saw Jamie standing there with a sheepish smile on his face.
“Hey, Jamie. You scared the crap out of me.” He laughed a bit and shook his head.
“Tyler told me you guys would be here.’ You nodded unsure of what he really wanted.
“Yeah, uh I figure you know?” Jamie nodded sadly.
“Yeah, well I was just going to head home. It’s been a long morning and Ava is finally down for her nap-”
“He deserves to see her.” You froze and glared at the hockey player in front of you.
“Hear me out, I know he fucked up. He has a lot to make up for but there’s a reason why you took the test and you know he wouldn’t lie about it, Whether or not you two work things out at least let Ava know her father. Tyler has already missed so much, which I will agree is his fault. But he’s offering to help and do you really want to raise her alone?” You were speechless,  was this real?
“Jamie with all due respect-”
“I know I’m overstepping boundaries but just let him meet her, if it doesn't go smoothly you can leave or kick him out or whatever. But just give him one shot to meet her, even if it’s for an hour. Start slowly. “ You stared at Jamie, unsure of all of it. You knew if the test results came back positive you would technically let him see her anyways this would just be a head start.
“Just think about it, okay?” You nodded at Jamie but didn’t say anything else as you got in the car. The whole 20 minute ride home all you kept thinking about was if it was the right decision or if it was going to be another mistake. Then again your most recent mistake got you your daughter, so how bad could it be?
X-x
You sat on your couch, reruns of modern family in the background. Ava was on the floor on her tummy grabbing at random toys happily. Your phone was in your lap and your leg was shaking up and down; you were trying to call Tyler but you were being too much of a chicken to actually pick up the phone and call him.
The two of you hadn’t talked much this morning and you barely gave him any time to look at Ava. You went in, signed the papers did the test, signed some more papers and then left. Tyler was in fact there but the two of you didn’t say anything to each other but you could see him eyeing the little girl you had covered with the blanket on your shoulder.
You were a mix of emotions but you knew you had to give Tyler a chance with her especially if you guys were going to try to work things out, which you had decided was going to be one of the criterias upon meeting Ava. You two had to work through this, whether you thought he was ready to be a father or not. The only way you were going to find out was if he proved it.
‘Fuck it,” You sighed out and unlocked your phone, finding his contact and pressing call. You waited as it rang twice, the nerves in your stomach tightening. It was only 4, he shouldn’t be out in the clubs yet, unless he was having a party then that would mean-
“Tyler’s phone how could I help you?” You cringed at the high pitch voice answering his phone.
“Oh, uh...can I talk to Tyler?” The girl mumbled a ‘hold on.’ Then proceeded to yell for Tyler. You wanted to hang up and pretend you never called, but it was too late as Tyler breathlessly answered the phone.
He could have been working out but with the girl who answered his phone you knew that’s probably not what was happening. You may have been angry with him but that doesn’t mean it didn’t sting hearing him out of breath.
“Y/n?” You cleared your throat, it was now or never.
“Hey Tyler, I just, sorry if you’re busy I just-” He cleared his throat.
“No, uh sorry about her. I’m good though, what’s up, everything go okay?” You nodded knowing he probably couldn’t see you.
“Yeah I just, uh. Well I was thinking if you weren’t busy maybe tonight or maybe whenever, if you’d stop by and maybe meet Ava.” You were nervous and you could hear how shaky your voice was. It’s not like he was going to say no and even if he did it didn’t mean anything he was the one who begged to see her.
Your thoughts were cut short when you heard shuffling around.
“I can be over in 45 minutes. Do you need anything?” You were taken back at how fast he was willing to come over.
“Uh, no. I just, you sure right now Tyler? You clearly have company.”
“No, it’s okay. I’ll be over soon. Bye Y/n.” He hung up the phone and now you were sitting speechless on your couch. Maybe he wasn’t going to make you regret your decision.
You decided to clean up a bit before he came over, picking up random toys off the living room floor and picking Ava up. You headed toward your room where you went to change her into a cute little pink and white dino onesie. You checked her diaper to make sure she wasn’t wet and then picked her back up and laid her on your bed as you decided to change. As much as you wanted to stay in your sports bra and leggings you changed into a v neck and jeans to look more presentable.
Ava cooed from the spot on your bed making you smile and lean down on the bed. She used her legs to kick toward you making you grab a hold of her feet.
“Look at you, using your leggies. Ready? Right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot.” You watched as your daughter smiled up at you and wiggled her hands toward you. You jumped when your doorbell went off, Ava’s smile dropping and looking around confused. You did your best to calm the butterflies in your stomach and picked up Ava.
“Alright baby girl, here goes nothing.” You walked toward the front door and took a deep breath before opening it. You felt your chest tighten as you saw Tyler standing on your doorstep a plastic bag in his hand and a sheepish smile on his face.
“Hi, uhm. Come in.” He didn’t say anything as you opened the door a bit wider and watched him walk in. He placed the plastic bag on the floor near the couch and then turned to watch you close the door. His eyes were wide and you could proudly say you’ve never seen Tyler look this...scared...if that was even the right word for it.
He cleared his throat as you looked down at Ava who now had her head on your shoulder. She wasn’t moving much just grabbing at the loose strands of hair falling in your face.
“Tyler, this is Ava. Ava this is Tyler. Tyler...meet your daughter.” You moved her around so she was now facing Tyler in your arms. Her eyes trailed up to his face and studied him for a minute, she made a gurgling noise and reached up to grab more of your hair.
You weren’t too surprised at her actions considering she probably had no idea what was going on, it was Tyler’s that took you by surprise. He sniffled a bit and you watched his eyes water, he was crying.
“I just, she beautiful. And I’m not just saying that because a lot of babies are ugly when they’re little but shes gorgeous Y/n.” You nodded and bit your lip.
“Would you like to hold her?” Tyler’s eyes darted up in surprise.
“You’d let me hold her?” You scoffed.
“Yeah, I didn’t invite you over here to just stare at her?” Tyler shrugged.
“Is it okay if I sit down?” You nodded and followed him over to the couch, you waited till he got comfortable to make sure he was ready. He adjusted himself and looked up at you, nodding.
“You just have to support her head a bit, but other than that you can just hold her like I was.” Tyler nodded as you handed her over to him, he adjusted her in his arms to where she was facing him and you swear you could cry yourself at the look on his face. His eyes were wide, his complete attention on her.
“Hey ava, I’m Tyler. Yeah, I play hockey and have three dogs. What do you do?” Your heart melted at the baby voice he had already picked up for her.
“Oh you suck on mommys boob, I used to do that too. That’s how you got here.” You screeched and if he wasn’t holding your daughter you’d smack him. He let out a laugh and glanced up at you.
“Thank you, for this. It means a lot Y/n.” You nodded at him.
“I’m still angry with you but your captain made a couple good points today.”
“You spoke to chubbs?” You arched an eyebrow.
“Jamie and I talk a lot more than you think.” Tyler didn’t say anything as Ava whined and pushed against his chest and then settled back into gripping onto his t-shirt.
“I know we have our...stuff to work out. I know we need to talk, but can today just be about her.” You stared at the two on your couch, he was looking at you with such hopefulness that you couldn’t deny him, even when your gut told you you needed to talk this out.
“Yeah that’s fine, I’m pretty sure you have questions. But before you start asking do you want some pizza? I was going to order some.” He nodded.
“Yeah, I’ll probably be here for as long as you’ll have me.” He sent you a scrunched up smile and you had to turn away before the butterflies in your stomach came alive.
“Oh wait before you order, can you hand me the plastic bag.” You walked over to it and handed it to him.
“I was hoping she could have his…” He used one hand to pull out the stuffed animal from the bag. It was a white lab with a cute little red collar around its neck.
“I bought it for her after I realized she was mine. I was at the mall and it stood out to me. Can she have it?” You felt your heart ache.
“Yeah. that’s fine.” He smiled at you and ripped the tag off with his teeth and then pretended to make noises with the dog against Ava’s tummy which she happily giggled and reached out for. This was a lot, and you didn’t know how to handle it so you walked into the kitchen to order the pizza.
You tried not to eavesdrop but you could hear Tyler whispering in a baby voice.
“Mommas done a good job with you huh? You love her? I bet you do. I can’t wait for you to know me, you can meet the boys. You have three dogs, did you know what?” This all was becoming too real but as you could hear the promise in Tyler’s voice of Ava meeting the boys you felt a sense of reassurance fall over you and maybe everything was going to be okay whether or not you two fixed things; that is until you two went public with the news if the test results were what Tyler said they were. You weren’t just going to be facing Tyler, you'd be facing the whole NHL and all their fans and somewhere inside of you, you didn’t think you’d ever be ready for that.

Dating seguin and being insecure and trying to push him away and break up with him but he won’t let you
oh anon... how you know me so well
Tumblr media
Okay so Im pretty sure you just wanted thoughts on this, but i had this idea and it just took form into a full imagine... SO ENJOY!
You Can’t Get Rid of me | Tyler Seguin |
Pairing: Tyler x Reader
Dating someone in the spotlight was never easy. Whether it be the constant comparisons between exes or self-doubts in general- often times You found yourself searching for reasons that explained why someone like Him, could like someone like you.
In your eyes, Tyler was everything- How could he not be? He was kind, funny, honest, loyal- not to mention his rockin bod- everything about him made you feel small in comparison.
It had been one of the main sources of your fights.
Another night of loud voices and slamming doors had ended with you sleeping in the guest room- Not because Tyler had asked you to, but because you were too stubborn to join him, Cash, Marshall and Gerry in the bedroom.
Tonight, the fight had been caused by Tyler asking you to go with him to a banquet- It was more or so a dinner with a few awards being handed out to players across the league, and as his girlfriend, he was expecting you to be in attendance.
In your mind, attending meant that you had to get dressed up in a fancy dress and heels- hair done and makeup perfect as you walked with Tyler as his arm candy for the night.
It wasn't that you didn’t want to go, It was just that you felt as though you didn’t belong. You were never apart of his world, Hell you had met him at the gas station- the most average and mundane of places.
One of your biggest fears was making Tyler look bad, or him finally realizing that you just weren't the effort or that you weren't his type. You weren't rich, you weren't a model or the housewife type.
You hadn’t spoken to Tyler since the fight. The two of you were going on 7 days of not interacting and if you were being honest- you didn’t know where your relationship stood.
Had you two broken up?
Were you on a break?
Was this the end?
Swallowing your pride, you had gotten into contact with Katie- Jamie’s girlfriend and asked her to help you out. The two of you spent the entire day getting ready for the banquet, you were going to do this for Tyler, even if it meant bruising your ego.
As you stood at the entrance of the banquet hall, your whole body was tense- you hair was styled just the way you liked it and a red satin dress covered your every curve- perfectly complimenting you figure. Nude heels carried you towards the area where Jamie and The rest of the team was standing-
You had on a gold necklace and bracelet, both of which had been anniversary gifts from Tyler- holding your clutch against your stomach- you spotted him, His hair was slicked back and he was wearing a beautiful suit- It was grey and had soft intricate detailing along the sleeves- his dress shirt hugged his chest perfectly, but you could see the stress he was under-
From the furrow of his brows to the clenched strain against his jaw, his hands were typing furiously at his phone- his chest heaving from heavy breaths. As your own phone dinged- He looked up and spotted you.
Seeing you standing there, Tyler felt his heart clench. He got those sam butterflies that he first had that afternoon at the gas station and he sweared that you looked just as beautiful pumping gas as you did right now- dolled up for him.
“Tyler...” You breathed out heavily as you finally walked towards him. he hand immediately found your waist and he brought you close- kissing the top of your head and his free hand pressing against the side of your head.
“You came...” he spoke softly, his tone was drenched with an emotion you couldn’t quite place- it was somewhere between gratitude and shock.
Through the night, you had done your best to keep up with the mingling, talking to people Tyler introduced you to, and sticking rather close to him the entire night- his hand barely leaving your waist.
As you took a quick break from Katie and the other girlfriends to head to the ladies room, your eyes landed on Tyler and his teammates. He looked so happy and pleased, he fit in perfectly and as you looked around the room- you realized how out of place you were.
You were wearing a costume, but these women and men- this was their life, their environment. You were thriving. feeling yourself starting to become anxious and choked up, you snuck down a hallway and grabbed your phone.
“I need to go- I’m sorry, I cant do this.” You quickly texted Tyler.
As you tried to make your escape, Tyler quickly caught up to you- you were barely halfway down the street when the backdoor of the banquet hall opened and Tyler was jogging out.
“Y/N!” he called after you, quickly jogging to you and grasping your arm delicately, he noticed the tears in your eyes and the redness spreading across your face.
As you raised your hands and tried to step away from him, he placed his hands on your forearms- keeping you from taking off. “Tyler please let go- I can’t do this right now.” You spoke weakly.
Shaking his head, Tyler clenched his jaw. “No- you’re not doing this to me again- Why can’t you just come in and pretend that you’re enjoying the night?” he asked frustratedly.
your bottom lip trembled and instantly you felt all your emotions boil over. “Because thats what i’m doing Tyler! I am pretending!” You snapped.
“This is not my life! This is yours! I love you so much,,, But i cant do this- its over... You deserve so much more than me!” You protested. As Tyler stood there taking in your every word, you found yourself finally cracking.
“I can’t keep acting like somehow this all makes sense! I’m nothing Tyler- in comparison to all those other women in there, to everyone on your team with their fancy cars and their fancy clothes- in comparison to you...”
Your voice broke as he pulled you close- refusing to let you go as his arms wrapped around your waist. “I am nothing...” you breathed out.
Tyler gulped, you could feel him letting out a sigh- and it was in this moment that you thought everything had finally ended. He had finally given up and let you go. “Y/N... I don’t care if you’re rich or if you’re a model-” his own voice started to break and you cursed yourself for causing him so much pain.
“Hell... I would take you in sweatpants and in a grease stained shirt any day over someone so fake that I cant tell the difference between them and plastic.” he reassured you.
Pulling away just enough to cup your cheeks and look you in the eyes, Tyler smiled sadly. “I am nothing without you Y/N... and that might sound cliche- but i am tired of you pushing me away because you think you’re not good enough.” he spoke firmly.
“Y/N, You make me wanna be a better man- and i am so in love with you... So you can yell at me that you wanna break up and stomp away- but just know that tomorrow I will be at your front door- begging you to take me back until you finally do.” he chuckled softly.
You could help but lean into his touch as he wiped one of your stray tears- the two of you must have looked like a mess- standing on the street and pouring your hearts out to each other- but neither of you cared.
“You really mean that?” you asked him, a soft smile finally making It’s way onto your lips.
Tyler laughed and hugged you tightly, his head resting upon yours as he had you smothered into his chest. “Baby... You couldn’t get rid of me if you tried.”

You Need Me Like a Bad Habit
I'm working on a prequel which I'll publish late October for all my fellow misunderstood Scorpios. I guess this goes along with the Tyler-Jamie headcanons I had written earlier. I skipped the actual smut because your girl is tired and lazy.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
You were trying to be patient, you really were. You were sitting on the couch in your silk camisole and shorts, watching Netflix.
Jamie was out running errands but as always, Tyler was the devil on your shoulder. He was shirtless and his grey sweatpants were low on his hip. For some reason, he couldn't sit still on the couch like a normal person. He was always walking around and stretching, showing off the intricate ink decorating his muscles. As part of the rules the three of you established when you first got into this relationship, you were free to hook up with either of them whenever you wanted. But you wanted to wait until Jamie got back.
He promised if you were good he'd let you pick where to order dinner from tonight. Plus you wanted to prove to yourself that Tyler didn't have as much influence over you as he thought.
Your mind was elsewhere and you yelped when you felt Tyler's foot brush against the crotch of your silk shorts
"Babygirl, you're wet" Tyler stated matter of factly. He didn’t need to touch you to know, he could see the your wetness seeping through the crotch of your shorts.
You squirmed as Tyler’s foot continued moving, it did feel nice there but you knew other parts of him would feel better. "I wanna be ready for Daddy Jamie when he gets back." "C'mon baby, we can have some fun and you'll be ready to go again when he gets back." You frowned, considering it. Jamie was probably doing something boring like renewing his license and registration at the DMV, and he hadn't really been gone that long, had he?
Tyler could tell you were mulling it over. "You know I'm right."
You scowled at Tyler and he returned with his signature smirk.
“Daddy wouldn’t lie to his babygirl.” Tyler said as you let him pull you onto his lap.
Tumblr media
You were laying on the couch as Tyler watched some travel food show. You wanted to wipe that stupid, smug smile off of his face but you were absolutely exhausted. Your lack of energy meant you couldn’t be bothered to care about your modesty. Your camisole had been pulled so Tyler could mouth and grab at your tits and your shorts had been tossed somewhere behind the tv stand, leaving your pussy completely exposed.
You heard Jamie’s car in the driveway and if you hadn’t been fucked out of your mind, you might have tried to look presentable. "Did someone have too much fun while I was gone?" Jamie asked, taking in the scene in front of him.
“Daddy Jamie.” You croaked, you weren’t sure if your throat was sore from all the times Tyler made you scream or when he fucked your mouth. You made grabby hands at Jamie and he lifted you into his arms. He sat down on the couch across from Tyler and you buried your face in his shirt. He smelled like laundry.
“Missed you.“ You told Jamie, leaning up to kiss his bearded neck.
"You just can't resist your daddies, can you babygirl?” Jamie asked, cuddling you further into his solid torso, stroking your hair.
You whimpered when you felt Jamie, palm your overstimulated mound. "Segs, you think she's got any orgasms left for me?"
“I'd say she has a couple more." Tyler smiles, pausing the TV. “I’m gonna order some Dominos.“

Made to Last || Tyler Seguin/Jamie Benn Pt. 21
A/N: Since I didn’t get much feedback, I let my 2 proofreaders made the call, and they said switch to Jamie. That being said, I think I’m going to wrap up made to last in the next 2 parts, unless you guys want more.

Jamie's P.O.V.
Things I don't recommend doing:
1. Falling in love with your best friend's fiancé.
2. Telling said fiancé that you love her, especially on the phone after he fucked up.. Again.
It's not like I had planned to fall in love with her. And I'm not sure when I fell in love with Y/N, it kinda just happened. I never planned to tell her either. I wholeheartedly planned on cheering her and Tyler on. Maybe it makes me a shitty person, but when she told me what Tyler did this time around, I felt like maybe I had a chance. I guess that's why I let those little words slip.
Hearing the knock on the door has a tornado of butterflies attacking my stomach. This conversation is really about to happen. As I walk towards my front door several emotions run through my head. Excitement, fear, anxiety, hope. Opening the door there stands Y/N. Even with a tear-stained face, she's the prettiest girl I've ever seen. I step to the side, silently inviting her in. Y/N follows me into my living room where we both sit in awkward silence.
"Jamie are you sure you want to have this conversation?" She looks over at me, worry etched in her features.
"Honestly, I don't know. I've already told you I love you, so we might as well have it." The truth is if this goes wrong, I'll be losing 2 of my closest friends. That being said, I can't just let my confession hang between us.
"When you said you loved me, did you mean as in a sister?" She asks, this time her focus is in her lap.
"No. I'm in love with you. I don't exactly know when this happened, I just know it did. I know Tyler is still in the picture, and I'm not asking you to leave him for me, especially when you're having his baby. But I want you to know how I really truly feel, and from there you can make your decision."
"Okay," I noticed a sense of hesitance in her tone. I take a deep breath before I continue.
"I don't wanna play games. I know you're tired of the same damn thing. I'd fuck around and give you my last name. You're the only one I wanna make love to. You're the only one I wanna pick and choose."
"Jamie I-"
"Hold on, I'm not done. I'm the one you call when shit hits the fan. I'm the one you go to for help with Tyler. I'm the one you call when he's made you cry. Every single time. And please don't take that wrong. I'm more than happy to be the one you come to. I don't make you cry. I would never pull half the shit Tyler has. I'd never run to some skank because we're having issues. I'd do everything and anything I could to make you happy. I'd raise my best friend's kid, if it meant I got to have you."
"Are you done yet?" There was a slight hint of impatience in Y/N's tone. Lovely. Did I already fuck this up?
"Yeah I'm done." I sigh, scared of what she is going to say next.
"I think I need a little time to think about everything you've said. I just have one question."
"That's understandable. Ask me anything you want." I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. Maybe I didn't lay it on too heavy.
"If you're in love with me, why did you push me into Tyler's arms?" It's the same question I've asked myself several times.
"I didn't know I loved you then. I thought I was happy to make you and him both happy. It wasn't until recently, that I realized I was in love with you Y/N. If I knew earlier, I could've saved you a lot of hurt, and I would've."
"I believe you, I just wish I would've known sooner. I need a few days. I'm going to get a room for a few days so I can sort my head out, then I'll let you know where we go from here. One thing I want you to know, is you're never going to lose me, no matter what." That I can live with.
"Are you sure? You can stay here, I'll get a room or I can go stay with Rads." Something about her staying in a hotel just doesn't sit right with me.
"Yes I'm sure, it'll be okay." Y/N tries to reassure me, but it's not working. I have a bad feeling and I don't know why.
"Fine. At least let me pay for it." I offer, trying to ease the bad feeling.
"Okay, you can pay for it. But please give me the space I'm asking for." She pleaded.
"I can do that." I agree.
"Thank you, I appreciate you." With a hug, she walked right out the front door.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N's P.O.V.
After hearing Jamie's confession, you're more confused than ever.  There's a part of you that knows deep down you deserve someone like Jamie in your life. You know he'd treat you right, the proof is in the pudding. He's continuously been your shoulder to cry on, no matter what. Logically he's your best option. You know without a shadow of a doubt that he'd take care of you and the baby without hesitation. The only thing you can think of that's holding you back is Tyler. No matter what bullshit he's put you through, you still love him. Feelings don't just go away overnight.
Sitting alone in your hotel room, you're thinking about who to call to sort your head out and your first choice is Jamie. That's when it hits you. If you were to take Tyler out of the situation, you could really see yourself with Jamie.  Is your decision that easy? It could be if you'd let it. But the stupid voices in your head won't let anything be that easy. You keep circling back to the good times with Tyler. Because face it, there were a lot of good times, but there are a lot of bad times as well. At what point does the bad outweigh the good?
You knew you needed to talk to someone, you just didn't know who would be unbiased in the situation. Your next option was to write everything down. So you did, you wrote down the pros and cons of each man. You wrote down how you were feeling, you wrote down every single thought you were having. After writing everything down, the answer you were looking for was still the same. Jamie would be your best bet. Tyler has shown you time and time again that he really doesn't care. You know the relationship you once had with Tyler was a thing of the past. That thought alone has a fresh wave of sadness washing over you.

If Only You Knew
Jamie Benn friends to lovers story featuring: angst, fluff, and a whole lot of miscommunication.
When you'd first accepted a job as the Stars PR assistant you figured you'd stay a few months, boost your resume, and move on. Quickly though you found yourself falling in love with the guys, and the job. It was fun to just be able to interact with them on a human level, and the fact that you knew the sport helped. They trusted you, so when your boss couldn't handle something you were called in. Especially if it was something pitiful. A guy wanted to do dinner and talk about getting his face out there more, or dealing with a girlfriend fall out. It usually fell on you.
The best part about the job was the friends you'd made, and for the first time in your life you had a beat friend. You and Jamie had instantly bonded, both being the ones who preferred sitting off by yourselves during events and parties. Of course the addition of Boston's resident playboy had originally put a damper on things, but they'd found a balance. Each bringing out the best in the other. It was endearing really, and you found yourself enjoying a different side of your best friend.
Gone was the shy behavior replaced by a new confidence and a desire to just be as good as he could. You found this new side of Jamie more and more attractive. At the same time it seemed all of a sudden the guy who'd schedule meetings when Tom, your boss, was busy so you'd have a built in excuse to have a mid-week hang out day was gone and all of a sudden he started dating like crazy. You'd spent so long taking for granted that Jamie was just as much of a workoholic as you, it was a shock to the system when he started bailing on your biweekly movies and junk food sessions. He wasn't able to eat crap that often, and you tried to eat right typically so it was a fun night, and one you both looked forward to.
Now here you stood in his dining room for the first time in months, after a decent but ultimately disappointing season, setting out a spread. Wings, pizza, beer, every kind of chip Jamie had in his pantry, with ice cream in the freezer for later. Your own growing interest in him romantically was under control at the idea of just spending quality time with your best friend.
"Hey!" Jamie greeted walking downstairs. "That smells amazing, but I've got to bail tonight. Jordie is on his way with crappy movies though so you and him can definitely hang out."
"Oh," was all you could think to say, trying to hide the disappointment on your face. "That's okay I'll just head home then."
"Come on, don't be like that. Jordie loves your company," Jamie tried.
"I like his too, but I kinda thought it would be nice to spend time with you," you tried to cover. "Don't worry about it. Another time."
"Come on, just hang out with Jordie. It's not like you have other plans," Jamie said walking to the living room.
You followed him, anger bubbling up, "I'm sorry?"
"Look you're here, right? So you didn't make plans, so hang out with Jordie, so you aren't alone," Jamie shrugged.
"I didn't make plans, because I thought you were making time for me for once." You muttered.
"What was that?" Jamie asked, you could sense his frustration mounting too.
"Jamie," you started, pausing to control your anger. "If you don't want to spend time with me that's fine. But don't pretend okay? I'm a big girl. I can find someone else to spend time with, you don't need to pawn me off on your brother."
"I'm not pawning you off," Jamie tried to placate you. "I just forgot Segs set up a double date, and I promised I'd come."
"Jamie, you don't have to do this," you sighed rubbing your fingers over your face.
"Obviously I do," he retorted.
"Jamie, just be honest!" You said exasperated.
"Honest about what, exactly?"
"You make time for the things you care about," you felt the break in your voice. "Don't pretend to care about me if you can't be damned to show it."
"Can we try irrational for $1000," Jamie snarked.
"I just can't do this anymore!" You yelled, furious. His mocking was the end of your rope.
"Really?" Jamie shouted back, sarcastically, "I thought you were being a bitch for no reason."
"You know what Jamie," you fumed. "Fuck you. I'm leaving." You went to grab your purse off the dining room table, where dinner sat getting cold.
"Fine," came his cold reply. "Lose my fucking number while you're at it."
"Bye Jamie," you said shutting his front door behind you.
You felt yourself fighting tears wondering how it came to this. Two hours ago you were excited, looking forward to a nice relaxing evening. Now it seemed everything was falling apart.
You made it into your car, and halfway to your apartment before the tears fell. You sucked it up long enough to get home, and before you'd even made it to you room your heart shattered. You laid in the hallway for an undeterminable amount of time, before the tears stopped. Your eyes hurt from crying so hard, and it felt like your heart had been removed from your body. You felt like you should call someone, anyone really, but the only voice you wanted to hear was the one who left you this sobbing waif.
It wasn't fair to expect Jamie to act any different really. You were the idiot who caught feelings, not him. He was free to date or spend his time however he wanted to. You just wanted the courtesy of him saying it, instead you lashed out and watched the friendship you'd built crumble.
That caused a new round of sobs as you thought you heard something in your hallway. You wrote it off as you focused on trying to calm your breathing. As you finally started to feel calm you heard a distinctive thump against your door. You slowly got up, wiping your face as best you could, thinking that there was a chance your elderly, Mr. Barnes, had fallen. You looked out your peephole and saw nothing. So you opened the door and before you could react you had a very drunk 6'2, 207 pound hockey player at your feet.
"It's you!" He exclaimed.
"Jamie?" You questioned. He nodded excitedly, "What are you doing here."
"I was drunk," he explained.
"I know that," you replied. "Why are you at my apartment instead of your house?"
"You've been crying," he announced finally getting up. You closed the door as he wandered to your couch, throwing himself on it. You hated how at home he looked here.
"Jamie, it's late I don't want to fight anymore. I'm going to get you a blanket," you said walking to your linen closet.
When you returned he looked at you with sad eyes, "I never want to fight with you."
"Jamie, I'm sorry about what I said okay. My feelings were hurt," you tried to soothe. He wasn't in a place to have a real conversation, but you knew he wouldn't sleep without something.
"You hurt mine first," he mumbled. His voice sounding much more sober suddenly.
"What?"
"You went out with Ben what's-his-face. I wanted to punch his face, but noooo. Tyler said I had to just let you realize we were perfect together, but you never did," he sounded so sad and broken.
"Jamie," you sighed out. But before you could say anything he was asleep.
You eventually made your own way to bed, determined to talk to Jamie tomorrow.
------------------------
The next morning you greeted Jamie with a bottle of water and Tylenol, "Here." You felt suddenly very shy with him, not knowing how today would go.
"Thanks," he mumbled downing all of it in one go. "How'd I get here?"
"I was hoping you knew."
"All I know is we fought, I went to my stupid dinner and I think I drank the place," he said rubbing his head. "Oh God, what did I say to you?" He suddenly jerked his head up.
"A lot actually. Apparently I hurt your feelings?" You said, not wanting to have this conversation, and also desperately wanting to have it.
"Look, I had feelings for you, but your my best friend. I shouldn't lash out like that, I'm sorry," Jamie apologized.
"What if I have feelings for you?" You asked, shyly meeting his brown eyes.
"Then, we have a new conversation to have," he said gulping slightly.
"I don't think so," you said, sliding your leg over his seating yourself on his leg. His hands immediately wrapping around your waist. "I think it's best if we just start right here." You kissed him softly.
"Now," you said, getting off him and taking his hand. "Neither of us got any sleep, so come with me." You pulled him back to your bed room onto your bed. As you both got situated his arms wrapped around you and your head rested on his shoulder. "We can't figure everything else out after we sleep," you whispered as you felt his lips against your head.
@captainbenn sorry it took so long. I already started a part two!

AN: Here is part 8! I can’t believe this story has become what it is, and I’m truly grateful for all of the love, support, and kind words I’ve received about it! I wanted to get this up because I start the last term of my degree tomorrow, so I won’t be able to post as often (I’ll still be here writing, just not as often as I have over the holidays). Feel free to pop into my inbox or asks anytime if you want to chat! Enjoy! Also shout out to @thatflyersfan who helped me with ideas for this part!

What could go wrong? Pt.8
It was the Friday night of the following week, you found yourself out with Jamie and the guys after a big win against Nashville. You had no intention of going out after the game, not when you had your last final of the semester the next afternoon. But when Klinger practically begged you and Jamie to come out, you reluctantly agreed. Jamie was surprisingly more hesitant than you were to go out, he was content to spend a quiet night in with you while you studied. You eventually convinced him that it would be fine to go out for a drink or two, you’d already put in countless hours of studying and you’d be fine for the exam tomorrow. Plus it would be nice to get out to unwind after a long week of packing, moving, unpacking, and exams on top of all of that. Jamie eventually agreed, and that’s how you found yourself leaning against the bar trying to get the bartenders attention, so you could grab another beer for you and Jamie. Jamie was sitting down at the table, in deep conversation with Big Rig and Klinger about something. You weren’t having any luck getting the attention of the bartender as you felt your frustration building. Suddenly you felt a hand on your lower back, in fact the hand was basically on your ass and not your back. You turned to your right, assuming the hand belonged to Jamie, your eyes widened to see the hand belonged to Tyler. You let out a small gasp and stepped to the left to get away from Tyler’s touch.
“Tyler, what are you doing?” you asked while you pushed his arm further away from your body. He quickly removed his arm from your body while his cheeks turned pink, his eyes darting everywhere but to meet your own.
“Sorry, I just didn’t want to startle you when I came up behind you,” Tyler replied timidly, as he waved the bartender down.
“You could gotten my attention with my name,” you quipped back, your voice harsher than you intended.
“You’re right, I’m sorry,” Tyler mumbled as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck while the two of you waited in silence for the bartender, still not making any eye contact. After two minutes of silence the bartender came over, saying he would be back with your round of beers right away. You glanced over at Tyler whose eyes kept darting away from you, he couldn’t even meet your gaze now. You sighed and tapped your fingers on the bar, growing more impatient as the seconds passed. Suddenly you heard yelling and smashing glass to the left of you. You glanced over to see two guys shoving each other back and forth, fists flying viciously. You glanced back at Tyler, eyebrows raised. Just as he was finally meeting your gaze for the first time of the night you felt a firm body collide with yours and shove you backwards into Tyler. You stumbled back into Tyler, who quickly caught you before you stumbled further. Tyler wrapped his arms around your waist to steady your balance. “You okay?” Tyler asked, voice filled with concern.
“Yeah, thank you,” you said while nodding. Before you could even regain your bearings you felt yourself being hoisted out of Tyler’s arms and spun around. You glanced up to see Jamie’s dark eyes, filled with rage as he set you down behind him and got right into Tyler’s face.
“Dude why are your hands all over my girl?” Jamie shouted, hand shoving Tyler’s shoulder causing Tyler to stumbled back into the bar.
“I wasn’t doing anything! I caught her because some guy shoved her,” Tyler explained, hands coming up in defence. But Jamie wasn’t buying Tyler’s response as he stepped even closer to Tyler, grabbing Tyler’s t-shirt in his fist while his other hand jabbed into Tyler’s chest.
“Bullshit, you’ve been staring at her the whole night. Did you wait for her to be alone, so you could come make another slimy move?” Jamie yelled into Tyler’s face, their noses practically touching now.
“Jamie, stop!” you tried to yell to get his attention, only to be waved off by the frustrated captain. Suddenly, Klinger was moving you away from Jamie and Tyler, so you didn’t get shoved again. He kept gently telling you that it would be alright. You glanced over your shoulder as Klinger led you back to your table to see that Big Rig has separated Tyler and Jamie, and Jamie was making his way back to your table. Tyler was also slowly making his way back to the table behind Jamie. When they were both close enough, Jamie leaned into the booth and grabbed your purse.
“Let’s go Y/N,” Jamie said firmly as he took your hand, attempting to lead you away from the table.
“Wait! What the hell was that?” you asked, dropping his hand and placing your hands on your hips as you waited for his response. He knew he was in shit now, you could see it in his eyes; your hands only ever made their way to your hips if you were pissed.
“His hands were all over you, I’m not going to stand by while he makes you uncomfortable,” Jamie said as he gestured to Tyler, who had taken a seat on the edge of the booth.
“That’s very chivalrous, but someone did shove me, he wasn’t lying. Jesus, you two are supposed be best friends!” you exclaimed, your frustrations bubbling.
“He got up in my face first!” Tyler yelled from the table.
“Zip it!” you shouted at Tyler who quickly averted his gaze. “No more fighting in bars, or on our driveway or at the arena. You two need to start getting along, I’m with Jamie now!” you felt Jamie’s arm on your shoulder as you glanced up to meet his eyes, his features instantly softening when you met his gaze. “I want to fucking enjoy my relationship, no more of this tense bullshit!” you let out an exasperated sigh as you leaned back into Jamie’s arms. Tyler muttered a very quiet “sorry” and abruptly got up from the table.
“Sorry babe didn’t mean to upset you,” Jamie whispered in your ear as you leaned back into his touch. He wrapped his arms around your waist and held you close. “I love you,” he added before gently pressing a kiss into your temple.
“Love you too,” you whispered back, giving his arm a gentle squeeze. “Take me home captain.”
With that Jamie and you said your goodbyes to the remaining guys and walked out of the bar hand in hand. Jamie flagged down a cab for the two of you, the journey home was filled with comfortable silence as Jamie held you in his arms and you stared out the window at the city lights of Dallas. Once you were home and inside the house Jamie began apologizing profusely for upsetting you.
“Jam, it’s okay! I’m fine,” you said as Jamie held you in his arms in the hallway. Your hands trailed down his chest as you smirked up at him. “I love when you defend me, it makes me love you even more, but I just don’t want any fighting.”
“I’m sorry that I got so upset, I just thought he was making you uncomfortable again and I needed to protect you.”
“Thank you for always protecting me and making sure I’m comfortable,” you said as you pressed a kiss to his cheek. “You know, I don’t mind if you fight on the ice…it’s actually pretty hot.”
“Oh yeah?’ Jamie asked with an eyebrow raised, a smile gracing his face.
“It’s pretty hot when you’re defending me,” you said as you traced circles on his chest through his shirt. “No more bar fights though,” you added with a serious look.
“Deal, no more bar fights,” he happily agreed as he leaned down to gently kiss the top of your head.
“You know, it’s not that late and I’m not very tired,” you said, another smirk gracing your face.
“What do you have in mind?” Jamie asked, eyes burning holes in your skin as he stared down at you.
“Why don’t you go make yourself comfortable on the bed, I have an outfit I think you’ll like,” you instructed him as you pulled away from his grasp. You smiled as you remembered the silver lace lingerie with diamond chains that you got as a surprise for Jamie for your first official night living together. Unfortunately, the two of you were too exhausted and upset after the run in with Tyler during the move that the mood wasn’t right for the little outfit you picked out for Jamie, but tonight the mood was definitely right for a sexy surprise for the captain.
“You’re going to bed the death of me,” he muttered as he watched you walk into the walk-in closet and out of sight.
 ------------------------------------
“Babe,” Jamie’s voice called softly as you felt a hand on your shoulder gently shaking you from your slumber.
“Go away,” you whined softly as you tried to swat his hand away from your shoulder. You heard him chuckle softly as the bed dipped from his weight. You felt his hand stroking your hair gently causing your eyes to slowly flutter open.
“There she is,” Jamie smiled from his spot on the edge of the bed. “Your coffee is ready on the nightstand, you have to leave for your exam in an hour,” Jamie’s hand brushed softly against your skin as it ran up your arm and rested on your cheek gently. You turned your face slightly to nuzzle his hand, smiling softly as you slowly woke up.
“You’re the best, thank you,” you replied quietly as you sat up in the bed. Jamie stood up and headed into the closet, presumably to get ready for practice. You threw back the covers on the bed and turned to dangle your feet off the mattress. You smiled as you reached for your coffee and took a sip, reveling in the taste of your favorite morning beverage. Jamie had quickly learned how you take your coffee when you started spending the night, because he learned that you weren’t a morning person in the least. You took a few more sips of your coffee before head into the closet that connected to the bathroom, you glanced to the right where there were hanging clothes and drawers when something caught your eye. You popped your head into the bathroom where Jamie was trimming his beard, “Did you hang up my lingerie?” you asked with a smirk.
Jamie glanced at you through the mirror and shrugged, “Yeah, so?”
“That’s just very domestic and I love that. You take good care of me,” you walked closer to the tall brunette and wrapped your arms around his waist, pressing your chest against his back.
“Gotta take care of that outfit, I want to see you in it again,” he responded as he concentrated on his beard grooming.
“You liked that did ya?” you peaked your head around his shoulder to see the wide grin on his face, confirming that he indeed did like the lingerie.
“Might be my favorite outfit of yours so far.”
“Even over your jersey? You seem to like it when I wear that,” you raised an eyebrow knowingly, Jamie’s weakness was seeing you in his jersey.
“Very true, but I think I like taking my jersey off you more.” You let out a loud laugh, as you felt Jamie’s body rumble with laughter as well.
“Where’s Molly? Usually she wakes me up with a wet nose in my face.”
“She’s in the backyard laying in the sun,” Jamie smiled at you as he set down the scissors and leaned back into your arms.
“I’m pretty sure she’d live in that backyard if we didn’t make her come inside,” you chuckled before stepping away from Jamie and over to the counter to grab your toothbrush, so you could start getting ready. The two of you chatted as you got ready, making plans for later in the day to go Christmas shopping. You rushed out the door 40 minutes later, Jamie ran into the garage with a granola bar for you to eat before your exam, saying something about needing to feed your brain.
Your exam went perfectly, it took around 2 hours from start to finish. You were finally done for the holidays, and you only had one more term left in your master’s degree. You had to admit that having a granola before definitely didn’t hurt your focus while you were writing. As soon as you got to your car your phone rang, you slid to unlock your phone and noticed your mom was calling you, which was odd because she hardly ever called you due to your unpredictable schedule, she usually waited for you to call her.
 “Hi mom,” you answered.
“Y/N, why did I hear from your older brother that you and Jamie moved in together,” her tone stern on the other end.
“Well that’s odd, since I also told you that two weeks ago.”
“When?” she questioned. You rolled your eyes, she had a tendency to not listen closely during conversations and then pretend that people never told her whatever she missed.
“Mom, I told you when you and dad were Facetiming with Jamie and I,” you replied calmly, taking a deep breath after. This was probably one of your moms most annoying habits, if you had to choose one.
“I think I would remember you telling me that you’re moving in with a boyfriend I’ve never met,” she practically yelled.
You let out a sigh and rubbed your temples, “Mom, what are you calling about? I just had an exam and I don’t want to argue about this.”
“Well I’m upset! It would’ve been nice to have met Jamie before you moved into his home, what if your father and I don’t like him?”
“Well, I like him and that’s what matters right?”
“Why wouldn’t you invite us down to meet him?” her voice was getting louder and shriller with each word as she completely brushed off everything you were saying.
“You never come whenever I invite you, I’ve lived here for 3 years and you’ve turned down every single invitation to visit that I’ve extended!” you shouted back, drifting further and further from calm than you were before.
“Well it’s so far us to come,” she brushes off.
“But it’s not far for me to travel to come see you?” you queried.
“That’s beyond the point. I just wish we could’ve met Jamie before you moved in with him, it feels like you’re hiding him from us.”
“You have met him, we’ve Facetimed with you multiple times mom. I don’t know what you expect from me if you won’t come down to visit us.”
“Oh, so this all falls back on me does it?”
“Mom, that’s not what I’m saying. But you know that Jamie and I don’t have flexible travel schedules, so if you wanted to meet him, you should’ve made the trip.”
“Yes Y/N, I’m well are of how inflexible your schedule is, it’s why we never see you anymore,” her tone laced with blame.
“Alright mom, that’s enough! So far, you’ve trash me for not having you down to meet Jamie, you’ve accused me of hiding him from you, and you’ve blamed me for never coming home. Not to mention the fact that you’ve met Jamie, and you know he’s an amazing man. You know how happy I am, so what’s your concern? I’m not continuing this conversation if you’re not going to say anything productive,” you let out an exasperated sigh.
“Honey, you know I’m always going to worry about you and that I only want what’s best for you. I just wish you wanted us in your life more, I’m sure you’ve met his parents.”
“I haven’t met his parents yet, they’re coming down after Christmas to visit. You know I love you and I want you in my life, which includes my life with Jamie. I’m not going to argue with you about anything else though,” you gulped and tried to fight back tears. Today was supposed to be fun and happy; as much as you loved your mother, conversations with her could be grueling at the least.
“Well are you going to invite us down?”
“Will you come?” your voice was monotone, knowing you’d get the same response as every time.
“Well, we’ll have to see if we can make it down sometime. It would really be easier if you lived close, like your brothers.”
“Okay mom, I have to go. Have fun on your trip, I love you,” a warm tear slipped down your cheek as you heard your mom give you the same excuse as every other time you’ve asked her to visit. Part of you knows it’s because she never fully forgave you for moving so far, but it’s not like you moved to hurt her. This move was for you, your education, your life.
“Bye honey love you.” With that the line went dead, your head fell back on against the headrest as tears fell freely from your eyes. You glanced at the clock on your phone, wondering if Jamie would be out of practice and able to take your call. You dialed his number anyways and waited anxiously as the phone rang.
“Hey babe, how was the exam?” Jamie’s voice graced your ears, his tone excited and eager to hear about your exam.
“Why do mom’s suck sometimes?” you asked as you started crying harder at the sound of his voice.
“Oh babe, what happened?” his tone instantly changed from excitement to concern. Jamie hated hearing you cry; he once told you that when you were sad, he was sad.
“She’s mad that she hasn’t met you, but still won’t come down here,” you choked out between sobs.
 “Where are you?”
“Still in the parking lot at the school, why?”
“I’m coming to get you, you can’t drive home this upset babe.”
“But you’ll have to leave your car here,” you whined, tears continuing to fall. Your mascara was running, and your eyes were puffy, you were in no state to drive home. You heard rustling in the background as Jamie muttered something to someone on the other end.
“Riggy is going to come with me and take my car back to the house, Sophie will come and pick him up from there. Give us 15 minutes babe, we’re coming.”
“I love you so much,” you replied as you wiped tears from your cheeks, calming slightly knowing that soon you would be in Jamie’s arms.
 ----------------------------------------------
True to his word, Jamie was there in 15 minutes to take you home. He held you in the parking lot for another 5 minutes as you sobbed silently into his arms. He knew you wouldn’t want to talk more about your mom now, exhausted from the fight that already happened, but he still told you that whenever you were ready, he’d be there for you. When you arrived home, he ushered you into bed for a nap, calling Molly to join you on the bed. He assured you that he would wake you up so that you could go Christmas shopping, but to get some rest because he had a surprise planned for you that evening.
You woke up to Jamie’s soft touch 3 hours later; another coffee ready for you on your bedside table, this time in a travel mug so you could take it on the road. You changed out of your cozy clothes, which in reality were sweats and one of Jamie’s Stars t-shirts, and headed out of the bedroom. Before you made it to the end of the hall and into the living room, Jamie was in front of you blocking your view of the room behind him.
“Close your eyes,” he smirked as he moved from side to side to stop you from peaking around him.
“Why would I close my eyes?” you asked, tone laced with sarcasm.
“So you don’t ruin the surprise,” he shrugged his shoulders, as if walking through your house with your eyes closed made all the sense in the world.
“Give me the surprise now,” you countered, quickly trying to sneak a peek behind Jamie’s large frame. You loved surprises, but you didn’t like having to wait too long to figure out what they were. Jamie was enjoying this, his face painted with a smirk.
“Nope, close your eyes,” Jamie laughed, knowing that you hated not knowing what was behind him in the living room. You huffed like a whiny small child who wasn’t getting their way, but closed your eyes as instructed. Jamie took your hand and led you to the garage where he told you that you could open your eyes again. You both hopped in his car and set off for the mall in search of a few final Christmas gifts. The two of you had done most of your Christmas shopping already, but you were helping him pick out a gift from his brothers girlfriend, whereas you still had to find a gift for Kat. You had Jamie’s gift wrapped in the living room for a few days now, sitting under the undecorated tree. Kat was the last gift on your list; normally your friends spent Christmas morning together but this year they were all coming over to your place for Christmas dinner and you had the morning alone with Jamie.
Once you arrived at the mall, you dragged Jamie into Bath and Body Works, so you could pick up some candles. Jamie assumed some candles meant 1 or 2, but to you it meant at least 6. Luckily you had a strong hockey player to help you carry the heavy bags around the mall. After buying some candles, you stopped to pick up some chocolates for your friends, knowing each of them had a sweet tooth. From there, you helped Jamie pick out some jewelry for Jordie’s girlfriend that she had mentioned she really liked. You also forced Jamie to pick out a few candles for her when you were picking some before. Shopping with Jamie was just as nice as you hoped it would be; walking hand in hand through the mall that was decorated to the nine’s for Christmas, smiling as you passed the line of excited children waiting to see Santa, and having someone to share a Cinnabon with as a little holiday treat. Your shopping was almost complete when you found yourself in a bookstore looking for a book Kat had included on her Christmas list. Jamie was scouring the mystery section with you, trying to find what Kat wanted.
“Y/N is that you?” you heard behind you. You turned to your left, your eyes widening when you saw who had been calling your name. “I thought that was you, good to see you,” your ex Travis said as he opened his arms for a hug. You stuck out your hand instead, opting not to hug one of your garbage exes.
“Nice to see you Travis, this is my boyfriend Jamie,” you smiled begrudgingly at Travis as Jamie came up next to you and wrapped an arm around your waist. It was more of a sign of comfort, and less about jealously protecting his girlfriend.
“Nice to meet you man,” Jamie said as he shook hands with Travis. Jamie glanced down and noticed you squirming uncomfortably beside him. “Y/N, I found the book, but we should probably head out. We have to get to that Christmas party,” Jamie said as he held up the book we had been looking for. You smiled graciously at him as you nodded, wrapping your arm around his waist as you started walking away from Travis.
“Nice to see you Y/N, we should have coffee sometime!” Travis called as you waved and continued walking further away from him, not giving him a second glance.
“That’s not likely,” you muttered, shuttering at the thought of having coffee with him. You were exes for a reason.
“Isn’t that the asshole who cheated on you?” Jamie asked as the two of you were standing at the register paying. You laughed and nodded your head; remembering how good Travis thought he was at keeping secrets, yet you quite easily found out he was cheating.
“Yeah, he was the absolute worst, thank god I got rid of him,” you shuddered remembering all the bad times and heartache he had caused you. You shook your head and brought yourself back into the moment with Jamie, not wanting to ruin the wonderful night the two of you had just spending time together. You happily handed the cashier money and took your book as she wished you happy holidays. You and Jamie walked out of the store, hands intertwined as you started the trek back to his car.
“What an idiot. I don’t know how anyone would ever cheat on you, but it’s his loss because you’re all mine now and I’ll never do anything to hurt you,” Jamie gave your hand a reassuring squeeze as you smiled up at him.
“I love you Jam,” you smiled as you leaned up to press your lips against his cheek.
“Love you too babe,” his lips softly pressed to your forehead, you closed your eyes to revel in the feeling for a second. After another minute or two of walking, you stopped in front of Jamie’s vehicle and helped him load your shopping bags into the car. “Alright, it’s surprise time!” Jamie clapped his hands together as he shut the trunk. You squealed excitedly as you went to your side of the car, your body practically vibrating with glee at the thought of what the surprise would be.
 -----------------------------------
“Okay, just a couple more steps,” Jamie said as he was guiding you to the surprise, hands on your shoulders, as yours covered your eyes. Your excitement was bubbling over as the seconds passed, Jamie giving you no inclination about what the surprise could be. “Okay, stop here and open your eyes.” You took your hands off your eyes and slowly opened them, a gasp falling from your lips as you did. Immediately tears started pooling in your eyes as your hand flew to your mouth in shock. You looked around and noticed boxes of decorations for the tree, Christmas movies fanned out over the coffee table, and a pillow fort on the floor in front of the TV with cozy looking cushions so you could curl up together and watch a movie. Molly was sleeping happily in the fort of cushions and blankets, probably thinking it was all for her. You looked to your right to see Jamie carrying a tray with Christmas cookies and ingredients for hot chocolate over to the coffee table.
“You did all this for me?” you asked as you wiped the tears on your cheeks. He nodded as he set down the tray of goodies and walked over to you to wrap you in a big bear hug.
“You deserve it,” he whispered into your hair as you buried your head in his chest, trying to get your tears under control. Your tears flowed for a few more minutes as Jamie held you, stroking your hair as your wet tears stained his shirt.
“How did you know this was all of my favorite things for the holidays?” you asked, leaning back and sniffling as you looked into Jamie’s eyes.
“I just listen when you’ve spoken about the holidays. I asked Sophie what your favorite Christmas movies were, so I could pick up a few of them and I’ve watched you drool over these cookies in the grocery store a time or two,” Jamie tucked a piece of stray hair behind your ear as he stared into your eyes sweetly.
“I don’t deserve you,” you whispered as he wiped a stray tear from your eyes.
“Babe, you deserve the whole damn world and I’m going to do my best to give it to you always. You’ve had a stressful few weeks of moves and exams. I just want to make you happy,” he whispered before leaning down to softly press his lips to yours. You smiled into the kiss as you slowly made out for a few minutes. You slowly pulled away from Jamie’s lips as he mumbled “I love you,” against yours.
“I love you too Jam,” you pressed another soft kiss to his lips before pulling away from his embrace to make your way over to the coffee table to grab a cookie. You smiled as the sugar cookie practically melted in your mouth, happily munching away on the cookie as Jamie moved over to start unpacking Christmas ornaments. “I’ll make the hot chocolate while you unpack,” you said as you grabbed the chocolate and headed to the kitchen.
“Oh I got the oat milk you like, and some coconut whipped cream,” Jamie called as you opened the fridge door. You smiled back at him, truly amazed by how thoughtful he was. He listened to everything you said, even the small things and remembered so many important details about you. You started making the hot chocolate on the stove, like your grandma had taught you, as you smiled. You were truly happy for the first time in a really long time; you’d spent many nights worried you’d never find someone who would love you the way Jamie does, and you never wanted to let him go now that you had him.
After about 5 minutes you were walking over to Jamie with steaming mugs of hot chocolate. He smiled as he accepted his mug and took a big sip of the warm drink. “You know, oat milk isn’t bad,” he commented as he took another sip of his hot chocolate before setting the mug down to pick up some ornaments. You let out a soft chuckle and shook your head, you’d been telling him how amazing oat milk was for weeks now. “I’m so glad your tree already has lights on it, last year I spent like an hour untangling lights for my mom,” he said, carefully placing a few ornaments on branches.
“That’s exactly why I bought this, I think we both know I don’t have the patience to untangle lights,” you joked as you started looking through boxes. You stopped after a moment and stared at Jamie who was happily placing ornaments on the tree, “Thank you for always taking such good care of me,” you smiled as you continued to stare at him.
Jamie paused for a moment and sent you a smile, “Thanks for making me so happy,” he said before turning back to the tree. You smiled to yourself as you turned back to the ornaments in front of you. You picked up a one and smiled, it was an ornament with a baby in a bassinet and a stork flying above holding the baby, with babies first Christmas painted on a ribbon.
“Jam look at this,” you said as you stood up to show him the ornament. “This is the first ornament I ever got.”
“Jeez, 1991? You’re old babe,” he joked as you gently smacked his stomach.
“I’m two years younger than you are old guy,” you smirked as you stared at the tree looking for the right branch. You smiled and placed the ornament in the middle of the tree, ensuring it was secure on its branch.
“It would be so cool to get ornaments like that for our kids someday, I wonder if they still make them,” Jamie said absentmindedly as he went to grab a few more ornaments. You whipped around from the tree to look at him.
“Our kids? So you’ve been thinking of having kids with me Jam?”
“Of course I have,” he said softly as he came to stand back in front of you. “Have you been thinking of having kids with me?” he asked, eyebrow raised.
“I wouldn’t mind having a few little Jamie’s running around here in a few years,” you smiled as you took an ornament from his hand to hang.
“Let’s hope our kids get their mom’s beauty,” he commented as his hand brushed yours while he reached for a branch near where you were hanging the ornament.
“And their dad’s hockey talent,” you countered.
“And their mom’s brains,” he quickly added with a wink before turning back to the tree.
“Someday Jam!” you softly brushed past him to grab a few more ornaments, trying to focus on decorating the tree. You were beaming at the thought of having Jamie’s children, and could barely contain your excitement over the fact that he wanted to have kids with you too.
 ----------------------------------------
The rest of the week leading up to Christmas passed quickly, with Jamie busy with hockey games and the two of you preparing your home for your friends to come over on Christmas. Christmas eve found the two of you on the couch watching more Christmas movies, eating pizza, and drinking spiked apple cider. Christmas morning was peaceful and serene as you and Jamie slept in until 10am, and opened gifts in the matching Christmas pajamas you surprised him with the night before.
You were a nervous wreck as Jamie opened his gift, but your nerves were calmed when he instantly wrapped his arms around you and told you he loved it. You got him a fancy beard grooming kit, with beard ornaments included, though you doubted he would ever wear those. You also got him a few framed photos of the two of you for the house; one of the two of you after one of his home games, and the other of the two of you on moving day hugging outside of your first home together. You also framed a photo of his family at one of his games in Vancouver, that he mentioned in passing he always wanted to frame.
Jamie gave you a gorgeous picture frame, that happened to be left empty. There was a note taped to the glass that read ‘Please fill me with one master’s degree, achieved by a brilliant social worker’. Jamie also got you a gorgeous rose gold chain with a ‘J’ pendant on it, so he can always be with you even while he’s away; you almost cried when he told you that and demanded that helped you put it on right away. Lastly, he also surprised you with a gift certificate for you and your friends to go have a spa day and relax.
After gifts, you both facetimed with your families and chatted for a while. The two of you made pancakes together for breakfast and then started on the food for the Christmas dinner you were hosting. Jamie was surprisingly into cooking the meal with you, and spent the whole day in the kitchen by your side. He was extremely excited to put his new meat thermometer, a gift from Jordie, into the turkey so he could monitor the temperature from his phone. You made stuffing, pea casserole, and mashed potatoes, all with Jamie’s help. Jamie even made the salad by himself while you were cutting up veggies to roast. The two of you spent the whole day laughing and sharing memories from past Christmases with each other. You smiled brightly the whole day, and counted it as one of the best Christmases you’ve had.
Around 5, your friends showed up just as Jamie was carving the turkey. Sophie brought Jamie O., Emma brought her boyfriend James, while Kat and Miles came together. Molly excitedly greeted Kat and Sophie, almost knocking Kat down as she kneeled down to pet the dog. You showed your friends around Jamie’s place now that all of your furniture was moved in and unpacked. Kat marveled at the size of Jamie’s closet, and mentioned she was considering turning the spare room into your old apartment into her walk-in closet because she was jealous of yours.
A short while later, you were all settled in at the table with glasses of wine, as your friends toasted to your new home and wished you many more happy years there together. Everyone loved the food you and Jamie prepared; Jamie proudly discussed his new meat thermometer with Big Rig and told him about how it helped you cook the perfect turkey. You rated your first Christmas dinner and first attempt at turkey as a success; Molly would happily agree, as Jamie snuck her a few small pieces of turkey. Once you were stuffed from all the food you ate, the guys all cleaned up the meal as you sat down and relaxed. They did a surprisingly good job and had the meal cleaned up in no time.
Gifts were exchanged between your friends before moving on to play some Cards Against Humanity, which was an interesting way to have Jamie get to know your friends better. You heart was full as you sat on the couch wrapped in Jamie’s arms, snacking on some of the baking Sophie brought over with her. You were all chatting casually, feeling tired from the food coma you would all fall into that evening.
Around 9, Jamie was practically lulling you to sleep as he stroked your hair while your head rested on your shoulder, watching Kat expressively tell a story of the last awful date she had been on. Suddenly there was a loud knock on your door, your head lifted off of Jamie’s shoulder as you stared at him with a confused expression, it’s not like either of you were expecting anyone at this time of night. You got up off the couch to go answer the door and Jamie followed closely behind you. You turned the lock and hesitated on the door knob for a moment before turning it and slowly opening the door. When you caught a glimpse of who it was you let out an inadvertent gasp and swung the door open widely.
“Tyler, what are you doing here?” you asked, shock filling your voice as you took in Tyler’s disheveled appearance. He looked upset about something, not angry but definitely sad.
“I’m sorry to interrupt your night, but uh…could I talk to Jamie? I just really need someone right now,” his voice shook as he spoke, as tears filled his eyes. You turned around to stare at Jamie with wide eyes, both of you not knowing what to do with this unexpected visit.

Planning on Rebranding One of my Stories
Hi Guys!  I’m planning on rebranding my ‘Stars Above You’ story because for the longest I’ve struggled to write it for months because I went in it figuring out what I wanted but didn’t know how to write it. It is gonna be a love triangle between Tyler and Jamie, and I felt like I was just writing tons of filler and I was getting frustrated. So I’m gonna go back to step one and actually outline the stories because mostly it was me writing and trying to get them out for you quickly.  I do wanna still use my OC Rose but if you guys want it to be a reader insert I would be totally okay with it too!
