As ardent fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we were overjoyed when we learned about the release of Slayers: A Buffyverse Story. This wasn't just another offshoot for us; it was a chance to reconnect with characters that had become like family, brought back to life by many of the original artists who made them so beloved in the first place. These characters, many of whom were taken from us in the original run of the show, were given new stories, and their voices were empowered and strong, it was the story we needed and wanted. And the fans responded, making Slayers a huge success!
However, our joy turned into disappointment when we learned that a second season for Slayers has been blocked by Disney. We believe this would be an immense loss not only for us fans but also for the creators, and those who could potentially discover this universe through this series.
Disney holds the power to greenlight another season (or more) of Slayers: A Buffyverse Story. By doing so they would honor the legacy of one television’s most influential shows, and artists who were part of its creation, while giving voice once again to characters who have meant so much to countless viewers around the world.
We urge Disney not only as fans but as individuals whose lives have been touched by these stories – please give Slayers another season! With Benson and Golden as writers and producers, as it is their vision and voices we want to follow.
Sign this petition if you too want Disney to allow them to continue telling these empowering stories in our beloved Buffyverse!

Im going to add to and edit this post later. This is something I'm working on on my family tree. This is from my family tree and a section I'm researching right now. Some of the Bennett siblings and some of the Lord siblings ended up as couples. I also grew up in the the church of Christ and I was looking to see if I had a family history of this way back in my family. There isn't much and I'm grasping at straws with this. Sarah Bagby and Joseph Noah Cantrell were my great grandparents. Here is Sarah Bagby's parents and grandparents. I've been to the graves of Joe and Sarah and Bill and Nancy and Nancy parents Bill and Sarah. Sou great grandmother was named after both of her grandmas I was told.

Note from Stacie: some of these names are wrong. For instance the name is Yandle and not Yandles for the names directly above. Perhaps the transcribers could read the notes or maybe they were not right in the notes. I copied and pasted them from the website where the transcription was.
"Webster county state of Missouri. I, William W. Shaver a legal minister of the gospel, did solemnize the rites of matrimony between William S. Bagby and Nancy C. Lord on the 8th day of August 1872.
William W. Shaver
A Minister of the Gospel"
In red is from the real written copy that I saw in online archives but it was blurry when I did a screen shot or the other option made it to small to read so I wrote it out.
You may notice Ws Bagby and Nancy C. Bagby in the church list. They were my 2x great grandparents. I looked at some info for William Wilson Shaver. He was also a minister in the Christian church and a part of the Stone-Campbell/Restoration Movement. My most immediate family subscribes to the church of Christ which is part of the same movement. I never knew where it started. I think this might be a coincidence. This is on my dad's side and actually on his father's side. I never met my grandfather because he passed away before I was born. It was my understanding that he didn't go to church. I know my granny did with us. I know my grandfather's father was a bad person and very mean. It was his wife who was the daughter of Ws Bagby and Nancy Lord.
Also Nancy Lord Bagby's Parents were William (bill) Lord and Sarah J. Bennett. Nancy was the only child ever listed on census records with her parents. I don't have any indication that there were ever more. This feels really unusual for the time but perhaps they couldn't have more.
I noticed that Sarah Lord is in the church list. Bill Lord was also still alive and I don't see him in the church member list. Ws Bagby's Parents were John Bagby and Sarah. I believe that Sarah's Maiden name was Todd and that she was the sister of Thomas Todd...he was the minister of the church members listed above. John and Sarah (Todd) Bagby moved to Texas and we're not here to be in this church. In fact I'm unsure of when they passed away and they may not have been alive at this time... I do not know what church they went to if any. I also can't prove that Sarah was one of the Todds but a lot of the family researchers believe this.
Here is another side note. This appears to be a very tight knit group. I wouldn't expect any less. Below is something on the find a grave site. This is the grave for the daughter of William Shaver who married my 2x great grandparents. You might notice her married name is Isabell Yandle. You might notice this name on the church list of Thomas Todd's church members. Her husband was John W. Yandle according to this site and the photo of the tombstone. I haven't looked for documents to prove this. I don't have any reason to think they are related to me but honestly anyone In this church list could be as tight knit as they were. I'm still looking at the members. I will say a lot of my ancestors and related people are in the New Grove Cemetery.

I will give updates as I have them.

As Thomas Johnson notes in this July 16, 1780 letter, Mr. Cock requested to a captain in the regiment in July. Also see the pensions of Robert Green, Solomon Turner, Aquilla Smith, Wilson Moore, William Nick, John Ferguson, and Patrick Connolly for other mentions of Mr. Bayley, who has a service card on Fold3, but apparently no pension. He would later be listed as living in Frederick County, just like the rest of the Bayley/Bailey family in Maryland, and lived a total of 81 years.

Specifically, the Fold3 muster rolls, not the serve cards, show that John Clare "deserted from Annapolis"  three were sick in an Annapolis Hospital, six deserted at Head of Elk on Sept. 3 (William Ewing, Joseph White, Roger Sullivan, John Smith, Michael [last name cannot be made out], and James Hopkins), six hadn't joined (John Jackson, Josias Miller, John Anderson, Morris Leary, Thomas Gibson, John Neale), three were sick in Philly Hospital (William Gillaspie, Christopher Lambert, and Patrick Charro?), and four were on command (Josiah Mason, Thomas Burke, ? Woodward, and Michael Redman), leaving a company which is supposed to be 60, of actually only 37. Service Cards confirm this, showing that John Burke and William Devine were sick in an Annapolis hospital, that John Clare deserted from Annapolis, that William Gillaspie/Gilasby was sick in Philly hospital and Leonard Smith was sick on furlough, and having records of five who deserted at "Head of Elk": William Ewing, John Smith, Michael Streeker, Roger Sullivan, and Joseph White. Also, a man named John Allison is mentioned on a return of Sept. 29, 1780 as present, but noting else is known.
[11] These men were Thomas Pendoor, James Bigwood, George Clarke, John Higgins, John Pickering, William Stewart (close, but not his pension), Daniel Bulger, John McGuire, Edward Daw, William Cox, John Maginnis, James Barrow, Joseph Floyd, John Harvey, Jesse McCarty, Henry Crane, William Curtin (related to Thomas Certain?), John Whealand, Thomas McBride, John McCoune in place of William Quinton, Thomas Maddin, John Buller, Patrick Smith, Richard Downes, John Smith, Patrick Cavenough, Thomas Shears, Thomas Ahair, Thomas Pennifield, and Richard Kisby.
[12] These seventeen others, not including dead James North or deserter John Tucker, are: Richard Whiley, Patrick Riley, John Butcher, John Robbins, Robert Ferrell, John Jones, Elijah Clarke, John Freeman, Anthony Wedge, William Groves, Thomas Elliss, Thomas Matthews, Stephen Fennell, Thomas Burch, Charles Reynolds (possibly mentioned in this pension), Timothy McLamar, and John Clayton.
[13] The list of "recruits and deserters," were acquired by Queen Ann's County officers, including William Hemsley, for the regiment, raised in July shows 2 people who deserted before joining (Thomas Fox and Valentine Saint Tee), three former deserters who never joined (Thomas Trew, Joseph Crouch, and James Chittendon), while three former deserters did join (David Willon, Thomas Terrett, and Benjamin Loftsman). Then there are the 25 regular people recruited who are not deserters: Thomas Yewell, George Duncan, Edward Legg, Charles White, Job Sylvester, Robert Legg, Thomas Gadd, William Aller, Daniel Dulany, John West Tate, Benjamin Lee, Richard Gemmeson, Edward Vickers, Elijah Barn, John Oliver (possibly him but cannot be confirmed), William Carter, John Moore, John West, Joseph Paggat, James Baver, Lambert Phillips, John Hickins, Richard Murphy, Timothy Connor, and Edward Dominie.
[14] The other 22 men are William Clements, James Bartclay, William Jeffries, Francis Rogers, Dennis Larey, John Cooper, Elisa Huff, George Plumbley, Bauer Wibb, Frederick James, Jesse Power (close but not his pension) William Hickin, Joseph Points, William Simmons (close but not his pension), Benjamin Smith (related to the other Smiths?), John Bryan, William Campbell, John Muir, William Holt, John Lewin, John Moore, and John Newton ("wounded in two instances" as a result of his fighting in the war).

it’s been a topic openly known about in fandom for years, but to read the explicit details of what Joss did to Charisma Carpenter - the abortion demand my god, is still a gut punch. Both in hindsight and while the show was on, everything she said is obvious and was absolutely reflected in the writing of certain characters. His pettiness and favoritism showed itself onscreen and he was constantly aided and abetted by his writers and fellow producers, the most egregious being Fury, Greenwalt and Minear, and probably Noxon as well - who may have felt obligation as he was a mentor figure to her.
I can only think people being surprised about this are people who are new to fandom, or were only involved in it surface wise and didn’t go too deep into the behind the scenes information and actors’ lives.
But with Charisma, Amber, Clare Kramer, and Sarah speaking out (also this bullshit about how SMG’s statement was too PR generic - get out of here. She may have been abused (and most likely was) by Joss in the same way and doesn’t need to share her trauma for approval) really shines a wider light on the abuse Joss inflicted.
Michelle, Emma, and Eliza have also come forward to support Charisma. ASH, J. August Richards, James C. Leary (Clem), and Christopher Golden (prolific BtVS tie-in novel author among other novels) as well.
ETA 2/12/21: Marti Noxon, James Marsters have also released statements supporting the survivors.

TBH, shit like Asimov and Brave New World, etc, etc combined with the HAlf-Price Sci-Fi section largely just being really terrible and often very sexist or... suggestive pulp is the reason I didn’t read science fiction outside of Star Wars for years and years.
Eventually, I found Ann Leckie, and Ann Leckie lead me to Becky Chambers and Yoon Ha Lee. From there, I finally figured out that, blessedly, we’re in somewhat of a science fiction publishing renaissance. Fantasy, too, but the sci-fi is... so exciting?
Since then I’ve added (mixed sci-fi and fantasy here): Ken Liu, Zen Cho, Seth Dickinson, Arkady Martine, Tamsyn Muir, Rebecca Roanhorse, Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant (same author with different pen names), Linda Nagata, James S.A. Corey (actually two authors writing under one pen name but I don’t know either of their real names), S. A. Chakraborty, Samantha Shannon, Jonathan Strahan (as an editor), Alix E. Harrow, Sarah Gailey, Fonda Lee, Kameron Hurley, Nnendi Okorafor, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Aliette de Bodard, C. A. Higgins, Jeanette Ng, Katherine Arden, and G. Willow Wilson.
And that’s not even counting the authors I technically haven’t read yet but have purchased or bookmarked books by and have in the TBR pile on the strength of recommendations from the above: N.K. Jemisin (although I’ve read MANY of her short stories haven’t read her novels yet),  JY Neon Yang, Amal El-Mohtar, Naomi Novik, Max Gladstone, Catherynne M. Valente, Annalee Newitz, Nghi Vho, Tade Thompson, Kai Ashante Wilson, Tasha Suri, P. Djèlí Clark, Mary Robinette Kowal, Kate Elliott,  Charlie Jane Anders, and Adrian Tchaikovsky.
I mean...
A good 85% of the writers above are women or nonbinary or trans men writers. I was raised under the misconception that mostly only cis white men wrote sci-fi and fantasy, but the sci-fi especially.  I hadn’t even heard of Octavia Butler until after college, but people sure were eager to recommend Bradbury and Asimov to me. But now I have found SO MANY authors who are not cis-men that I’m almost a little leary of ready spec. fic. by cis men because I’ve gotten used to women being written as ... people.
(Which is not to say that cis men can’t write women as people or that cis women can’t write deeply misogynistic stories discounting women’s agency and worth.  Karen Traviss is an example of the latter, etc. But you know... in general...)
And I keep thinking that if I hadn’t seen a random tumblr post recommending the Leckie novel and been intrigued despite myself...
If I had kept holding online listicles and “traditional” sci-fi fans and the Half Price Sci-Fi section full of weird fetishy or nonsensical paperbacks be my perception of the Spec Fic scene... I would have missed out on so much.
And holy fuck this post got away from me, but tldr: I hate the people who are “real sci-fi fans” because they read these “classic” male authors from forever ago and rant about what is or isn’t real spec fic... when there are SO MANY BETTER modern authors/books to read that won’t turn new readers off the entire genre.

Design on the Front Lines Discussion Series
Imagine a space where doctors and designers alike can come together and solve some of the toughest challenges in healthcare in one of the most evocative spaces in Philadelphia. The Jefferson Health Design Lab exists to bring people from different backgrounds together and promote inclusive design in healthcare. From patients to providers, everyone has the potential to accelerate change and improve lives. Fueled by traditional and modern prototyping technology and a foundation of Health Design Thinking, the Health Design Lab is more than just a maker space, but a space that will change the way we all think about the future of healthcare.
HEALTH DESIGN THINKING: CREATING PRODUCTS AND SERVICES FOR BETTER HEALTH
By Bon Ku, MD, and Ellen Lupton
As health care systems around the globe struggle to expand access, improve outcomes, and control costs, Health Design Thinking offers a new approach for designing dynamic, responsive health care products and services. Health Design Thinking is authored by Bon Ku, physician and founder of the innovative Health Design Lab at Thomas Jefferson University, and Ellen Lupton, award-winning designer, author, and curator at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, with contributions from experts in design and medicine. This practice-based guide applies design thinking to real-world health care challenges. Design thinking uses play and experiment rather than rigid rules. It draws on interviews, observations, diagrams, storytelling, physical models, and role playing; design teams focus not on technology but on problems faced by patients and clinicians. Illustrated with 230 drawings, photographs, storyboards, data graphics, architectural plans, and other visualizations, Health Design Thinking provides a hands-on manual for reframing medical education, treatment, and industry to align with everyday challenges in communities around the world.

Julia Benz, Danny Strong and Juliet Landau have all pitched in so this is definitely legit. His wife died a few weeks ago and he is now a full time parent - homeless and looking for work.
