Update (five months later)

I don’t know where the time has gone? Life is a whirlwind. Since that Father’s Day where our family met, we have experienced so many milestones. My (or was it yours?) 30th birthday, moving into our apartment, and meeting more of each other’s family. Oh and of course, the best part - you proposed.

On a sunny Saturday morning in August, with me in my “hot girl walk” attire of bright blue biker shorts and fanny pack and you with your gorgeous face and hint of nerves (you admitted it!), you surprised me with the best proposal in my favorite city. And I said, “are you serious?!”

(And of course, I said “yes!” too.)

Sometimes I look over at you and I wonder how is it that I got this lucky? Because even if you drive me absolutely crazy sometimes when we disagree over inane things or even if I’m extremely frustrated with you and think you’re being a donkey, I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything in the world.

Because at the end of the day, my jaan - you are my steadfast pillar of strength, my sounding board, my calm in the storm, my spark for new adventures, my adrenaline rush, my source of endless laughter, my complementary half, my best friend and my partner in life.

I love you, darling.

Our families are meeting today. Not going to lie, getting to today was stressful. Lots of strong opinions and lists and planning — and it’s only a lunch! Definitely makes the thought of planning a wedding more intimidating…
