SUPER OLD RAINBOW! ART THREAD!!! Open only if you are brave enough to face teen me's cringe art...
(mostly joking but fr white Mimi and skinny Boo jumpscare below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Very first digital piece of Boo and Mimi circa 2011!! I was 14 when I drew this. Usually I'm able to look back fondly at super old art of mine but this one does make me cringe a liiiiittle bit. Mimi girl what are you wearing, why are you white. Boo also had pink eyes in the beginning, which she would continue to have for several years to come (even in the current iteration of RAINBOW! they were pink at first, I later recolored those pages) but it was only later that it was due to the color scheme of the comic and not because they were literally pink. I'm pretty sure they were meant to be contacts, because their hair is and always have been dyed rather than anime-esque natural colorful hair, so that was some crazy dedication from Boo back in the day.
Tumblr media
More 2011 art showing off Mimi's goth/scene-ish style and green eyes. They were initially meant to have pastel and neon fashion senses, respectively. The story was already named at this point, only a few days or maybe weeks into its inception, which is impressive considering it has taken us literal years to name other stories (I'm looking at you, Phantom Pains)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this one is from super early 2012! Interesting to think that this was less than 9 months later since it feels completely different to me. The first version of the comic had started at this point, and the pink and green color scheme was just starting to develop. This lineup features some characters that would later be cut. Lucian and Lily were friends of Boo, and Cecilia was Mimi's ex girlfriend. Notably Clarice is not on this lineup, and frankly I'm not sure why.
Tumblr media
A picture I drew to commemorate 50 fans on RAINBOW!'s smackjeeves page, mid 2012. Boo's outfit resembled a recolored version of her 2011 outfit, but I have no idea what Mimi is wearing. What. are. you. wearing.
Tumblr media
Chibi-ish drawings of Boo and Mimi cosplaying various characters, from early 2013. Homura Mimi is very funny to me, I really don't know why I didn't draw her as Kyoko. I assume I was trying to keep them as paired characters, but I didn't do that with the Sailor Moon or Disney ones, so I who knows why I did it with PMMM. Mimi's hairstyle changes to a shaved cut somewhere around this time, but it is much more dramatic than her current undercut, and her hair is still pretty long. Boo is wearing a closet cosplay of Fluttershy that I myself wore once. These also resemble the chibi-ish drawings on the chapter intermission pages of RAINBOW! Vol 1.
Tumblr media
A character study I did in late 2013, which would be shortly after I made a major style shift into the art style that would eventually develop into the one I currently have. At this point, Boo was meant to be fatter than Mimi, but the execution wasn't really there at all. There is also a doodle at the bottom of me and Sunny at the time (I am the one with long hair), expressing thanks for 300 fans on smackjeeves. Considering it had 50 in mid 2012, the readership was pretty slow growing back then.
Tumblr media
outfit exploration for Mimi, circa 2014. At this point I started to expand the color scheme a little bit more so that not every character would be paper-white, though she is still very pale even though she is no longer meant to be white anymore. None of these outfits really resemble her current style, and I don't particularly like any of them either. It took me a very long time to settle on a fashion sense for her.
Tumblr media
an Adventure Time-eqsue drawing of Mimi and Boo that I actually drew less than two weeks after the previous image despite the difference in things such as the way the hair was drawn. I had to include this one because it blew up overnight, which was a huge deal for highschool me, I remember checking my phone at school a lot because it was just getting hundreds or even thousands of notes over the span of the day. I think it has something like 16,000 notes. Still the post with the highest number of notes I have by far, so I guess I peaked in high school, whomp whomp
Tumblr media
More fashion exploration, this time of Mimi and Boo, from early 2015. The color scheme is starting to approach what it currently is, but much more dull since I used to be afraid of bright colors. Mimi's fashion sense is starting to get closer to what it currently is, but the pastel goth influence that was popular in early-mid 2010s tumblr is apparent. In chapter 1, Boo wears an outfit that is extremely similar to the one with the bear shirt, except it's a rabbit instead. The dress that Mimi gives to Boo is also almost identical to the depiction of it here. This drawing implies that Mimi was originally going to be present in the film noir scene where Boo finds her mom, which is interesting...
Tumblr media
Another cast lineup! This one is from late 2015-early 2016. Mimi is wearing an outfit pretty similar to what she wears in chapter 1 but with the colors altered. The execution of Boo's body type is starting to improve but she's still kind of pear-shaped. Mimi is also a little more square, and her hair finally looks like the style she has now. Clarice gets to be in the lineup this time and she is SUPER tall. I think she is still taller than Milo. And Mimi is around 5'7"-5'8", so Clarice must be around 6 foot by that logic.
Tumblr media
The original version of chibi-ish Boo riding a bike in her Kiki outfit, from 2016. I think it was meant to be a banner of some kind, possibly for tapas or tumblr. A newer version of this drawing features as a chapter intermission drawing in the physical book.
Tumblr media
The original cover for RAINBOW! from 2017. The color scheme is finally starting to get a little brighter! This is actually a redraw of an older drawing from 2014, I want to draw it again someday. Also, I was going by Rain at the time.
Tumblr media
A drawing I did in late 2017 for a class in which we were meant to try digital painting and I went for a very simple approach. I like that Mimi's legs are a little noodle-y. This is also the first drawing where Mimi's eyes are no longer green, but dark pink instead. By the language of RAINBOW!'s color scheme, that means they are brown. Boo's eyes are still pink, however.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another drawing for a class, this time from 2018. I can't remember the specifics of the assignment, but I used the opportunity to draw the playground and Max, the dog, for the first time. I like the way the trees look in this. That little snip of hair by Mimi's ear also made a reappearance here for some reason.
Tumblr media
The original version of the drawing that would become the cover of RAINBOW! Vol 1, from mid 2019! I believe I drew it to be a banner on Tapas, but I used it for tumblr as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly, Boo and Mimi outfit sheets from 2019-2020. I messed with them for a while, hence the timeframe. Boo's eyes are finally green, which I changed since I liked the idea of Mimi having green hair and pink eyes, and Boo having pink hair and green eyes, as if they are reflected a bit in each other. Outside of RAINBOW!'s color scheme, Boo's eyes are actually blue though. It took about a decade, but I finally settled on a fashion sense for Mimi.
BONUS ART!!! 💖💖✨✨ I thought these would be better grouped together rather than chronologically with the rest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
RAINBOW!'s banners from its era on smackjeeves! Smackjeeves didn't have square/circular icons but rather these thin long banners which could also be animated. I thought that was so fun, so I always animated them at least a little, even though one doesn't seem to work. It was customary to write girls love/boys love on the banner of mlm/wlw romance stories then, so almost all of them say that. I still see that trend on some comics on webtoon and tapas nowadays. They are from 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017. I don't believe the 2017 one was ever used.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And RAINBOW!'s icon throughout the years! I always refused to change it, only update it, because I thought it was really cute. They are from (approximately) 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2021.
Tumblr media
And finally, art from 2021 of Mimi with her cousin August, who will be the protagonist of our next comic, Phantom Pains. Weird to think that we'll be on that comic in foreseeable future, since it is also over 10 years old now. Bit of a passing the torch type drawing to end on. 💕 If you made it all the way here, thanks for reading! Hopefully it was fun and didn't hurt your eyes.

I decided to put together some gameplay mods and overrides I use primarily for storytelling! I recently had someone ask if I had a resources page on my blog, and while I don't (yet), I hope you and others find this cool list helpful. Full disclosure: there are several lists out there of must-have-mods, these are just ones that I use in my game that allow me to tell stories the way I'd like.
Overrides:
Food Textures - Utopia Sims (this creator stopped retexturing foods awhile ago, however all of their links are still active. I will get into actual food mods later, however I find these to be boss).
Stereo Dance Override - This overrides the basic stereo dances that come with the game. I believe there are 35 different dances (preview).
Earbuds Override - I use these which replace the one that came with the Fitness Pack.
Coffee Art (works with tea, too!) - Overrides the default black coffee or tea. Only choose one.
Kitchen Sponge - Just a cuter version of that yellow blob they use to wash dishes.
Cutting Board - Overrides the default cutting board in game, choose only one (I use version 1) its the little things, you know?
Knife Override - Same as above except just a cleaner version of the knife your sims are always flipping up in the air whilst prepping food. Again, the little things.
Billboard Overrides - Just a cool replacement for billboards that make for pretty cool pics.
Illness Blush Override - Gets rid of the spots and stripes that come with a sick sim and replaces it with a body blush. Realistic touch for storytelling when your pixels catch a cold or another nasty virus.
Dirty Plate Override - Because who leaves a clean plate behind after they eat?
Ceiling Override - Replaces the in game ceilings indoors with a variety of pretty cool swatches. Choose one but keep the folder somewhere so you can switch out when you want.
No gloves while boxing - I use this for realism. One of my OCs used boxing as a way to relieve stress. But he was a beast so, gloves? Nah.
Natural Knitting - If you're tired of the rainbow yarn, this override changes that to a neutral color.
EA Default Teeth Override - exactly what it says.
Beer instead of juice for coolers - This one I made myself lol. In my story, my OC's mom lived in a trailer park and was always outside watching TV next to a cooler. Well my OC had a drinking problem so I recolored the "juice" into a heineken. The things we do for our stories... anyway, you might get some use out of it.
Tumblr media
Randoms:
No Bike Helmet (there are several of these, I use one by Scarlet but their website is giving me virus warnings now. Check lilmisssam and the guy I linked)
No ZZZs while sleeping
No Mosaic
No Music Notes
Toddler No Sparkle
Hide Lot Trait Head FX
I'll do a list of essential mods later!! Hope these come in clutch, friends!

Ok but I have seen you talk about this so many times, even referencing it in your old cartoons, so I gotta ask - when and how did you fall in love with neopets, like that?
Wait, is it that obscure now? I didn't know a single person from its inception to roughly 2010 who didn't have a neopets account. It was the single biggest gaming-esque name on the internet for years. Celebrities casually mentioned playing it, it got mainstream marketing tie-ins, it had plush toys people waited in line to buy up and a TCG made by the same company as Magic the Gathering. It's not that I especially "fell in love with neopets" like it's a niche thing but that there was a time it was almost outselling Pokemon, so it's just another huge cultural phenomenon that was a big part of everyone's lives during my teens to twenties, and hits my special interest in creature design since it has THOUSANDS (beyond the pets alone) ranging in quality from extremely creative to just plain heinous. I personally only got invested in it when they introduced the mutant pets, though, because it started out having almost like a "rule" against making any pets that were "ugly." They'd joke about it as a prank for instance, and originally only featured the mutants as part of a storyline they never intended players to actually adopt. They even had a fake alternate version of the site with fake "adoptions coming soon" and somehow didn't anticipate the userbase genuinely wanting the slime creatures.
Tumblr media
The Chia and Aisha were my favorites but mainly the chia because that kind of "scuzzy" creature was already my own design aesthetic, polar opposite of the site's established style and reminded me of if Jeff Goldblum got fused with a tardigrade instead of a fly:
Tumblr media
Is that just me? I feel like the tardigrade similarity jumps right out but I think it was an accident and they were possibly actually thinking of the rotting giant from Nausicaa:
Tumblr media
The fact that they intended its design to be unlovably ugly and were surprised anyone wanted it only made it more sympathetic. Eventually they made mutants available and I got fully invested into playing, at the time having to spend hours a day on their little flash games until I could afford a mutant after months of labor. But then a couple of years later they just abruptly decided they really didn't feel like having its design around anymore and "updated" it, which back then was automatic for all pets owned by all players with no going back:
Tumblr media
It had unfortunately been fairly common that they'd just completely, totally redo a pet like this with no warning and no user poll to make sure it's what anyone wanted. You just had to pray they never did it to your favorites.
All the other mutants in that earlier image would also get completely changed or never released at all. They still kept some of the other "gross" mutants and would make even grosser, so that wasn't even part of the reasoning. Just the random whims of mad gods I guess. I think what killed the game for a lot of people was actually when they did this to basically everyone at once, standardizing almost all the pet artwork so they could wear clothes in their new dressup system. It wasn't as drastic as replacing a sludge guy with some kind of hairy leaf guy but it did eliminate hundreds of technically unique designs from the site, and I found someone else's examples they put together so I thankfully don't have to do it myself:
Tumblr media
If anyone's not familiar enough with neopets or didn't figure that out from the last paragraph, the ones on the right are just recolors of the same exact art as all members of their species with added accessories (now wearable items) Players used to work hard to get pets they wanted based on their unique poses and personality, but you could only keep the original art for a small number of these. The customization feature kind of attracted a different new fandom, from what people say, but it never approached a fraction the site's peak, which is probably how the brand wound up getting sold to some NFT bros who aren't even involved in the site itself and supposedly never even spoken to its remaining staff outside some business emails? This is unrelated to the brief period it was bought by scientologists and the siterunners had to fight back against their propaganda leaking into it. I really didn't expect to turn this response into a mini article, I should really just make a thing on bogleech.com about it sometime. Some of my tumblr mutuals to this day are people I met through the neopets fandom and probably have equally lengthy memories/complaints.

Hi love! Your sims are GAWJUSSS. Literally breath taking. I’ve recently got back into playing ts3 and am loving it. I was wondering if you can recall the skin and/or makeup&accessories you used in Nyanaath’s makeover update here: https://www.tumblr.com/kosmokhaos/733942789751078912/i-feel-successful-now-cause-damn-ignore-the
I’ve been struggling so bad to find skins of high quality and detail that are darker hues, or eye/nose masks that don’t lose detail the deeper the shade gets. I saw that you gave a resource list of skins a few years back when Nyanaath looked a lil different, so i wasn’t sure if there was anything relatively new that you used or not. I see the pores and details in Nyanaath’s skin and am just dying to know how to get like you lmaoo
First of all, Hiii and thank you! 😁💕Happy new year! Prepare for a bit of rambling but I link to some stuff in the end.
I want to start off saying that most of my sim pics are edited to some degree, especially previous pics from the past. I'm trying to rely less on editing to make my sims looks nice, but of course there is only so much you can do in a sims game.
This is an example of what Nyanaath's skin looks like unedited. EA lighting sucks ass and looks patchy in Sims 3 on dark colored objects in general and unfortunately, sims are not excluded. I end up smoothing the discoloration and patchiness with editing 😭
Before vs After
Tumblr media
Skins as dark as Nena's have to be made dark from the start because using a pale/light based skin and trying to use an in-game slider to darken it never turns out good in any game. Dark skin reflects light and shadows differently than light skin and needs its own already-dark base.
I will seriously consider trying to throw together a skinblend for male and female skins that are dark like this because I truly think there are none. BUUUUT LOL rambling aside I do have new recommendations for makeup and skin details since that post:
1. First up is @sourlemonsimblr for makeup. Especially for eyebrows and lipsticks! A lot of their lipsticks are insanely detailed and recolorable enough that they can fit most darker tones. Their skins are lovely too and they've even recently made a dark skin which I will💗Link Here💗. I haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet but they always have quality stuff. Take a stroll through their Downloads page because it's definitely worth it. 2. Next up for skin detail makeups is @smallsimmer. They have so many good nose makes and eye/lip details that can be recolored to use on your darker skinned sims! If you ever had a skin you really liked and wanted to switch up the nose, eyes or lips, their skin detail makeup will absolutely come in clutch. They even have a few converted for child and toddler sims (something ts3 is lacking in)💗Link Here💗 3. If you want some AF skins for darker sims that are readily available and detailed, I'd suggest @annoyinglydarkblaze I learned a lot about making skins from watching their journey into skin making a few years ago. Since they aren't as active anymore and their posts are a bit scattered I will link the skins I like best: 💗Here💗 💗Here💗 and 💗Here💗 4. My next pick for more masculine/male-centered CAS makeup and CC is @nectar-cellar Their cc has been helpful as I slowly update my male OCs. The Beards/detail makeup torso muscled-torso meshes and clothing are some of the best. 5. I also suggest @simtanico for sliders and their detail makeup. I have just about every slider they've created 😂They also make really well done maxis-match kinda styled clothes for male sims too.
I'm sure there are tons of other people I'm missing but its been a minute since I've been around simblr myself so I'll try to update this list as I go.
I'll also leave you with a little tip: Do NOT be afraid to use the opacity slider and layering with makeup on darker sims. Layering and opacity is your friend!
Happy Simming! 💗✨

Fanmade Huntlow Grom Renders
Huntlow Grom Masterpost
That Grom photo from WAD has made a huntlow grom actually revelant, and I've fully comitted to milking the fuck out of that idea now. (You'll see what I mean later)
Anyway, since the photo did not show the full Grom outfits, I decided to design the full ones myself.
I took inspiration from other artist's depictions of their outfits, as well as Queen Moon from STVOFE for Willow's dress. I wanted the bottom half to be flower-like, and yellow so it looks like a sunflower. I used a yellow-brown for the dots on her frills and decided to encorperate more brown into her design to balance the colors out. I took the bow belt from her previous grom outfitt, just recolored it. The brown stockings were not originally part of the design, but I tried them out and ended up liking how it looked.
Hunter was quite a bit more simple then Willow since we saw more of his design in the photo. However, I decided to give him a ponytail because why the fuck not. I mean, the photo is a frontal view so there is no proof that he doesn't have one, and its clear he already tied his hair back in some way due to his hair strand being pulled back.
I originally had a flower pattern on Hunter's pants, but scrapped it as I was coloring because I realized I liked the plain version better. Also I gave him crocs because it's funny as fuck and it fits Hunter's goofy sense of fashion. I tried to make the crocs yellow at first, but I thought it popped too much so I made them red instead.

Yaknow as a longtime itch.io lurker one thing that makes me sad is that there’s a lot of different takes on the same theme that don’t actually try to do anything new. Usually fantasy stuff. There are so so many fantasy packs that are nearly identical…
The art is fine and a lot of effort already, but it makes the assets not… stand out. Which is understandable! The point is to make something generic anyone can use! But it’s also a shame artistically because there’s little that’s unique to them, so they fade into the background easily… Plus if I need something specific I might have five packs to look through that just don’t do what I want, because they have the same take on the same theme, so I have 7 different Generic Unidentifiable Trees and Village House With Hay Roof but say no wooden cart an ox could pull. (I genuinely don’t remember seeing that as an asset before…)
Say, let’s continue on fantasy packs. I can name like one or two of them that I remember specifically because there was a variety of themes to them— going way beyond man with sword in European forest with some village and river tiles. That’s what makes me actually want to buy them! If there’s a variety in the type of characters and body types, or the kind of places you can lead your characters into (and I can repurpose this stuff even when it SOUNDS super specific! Don’t think I can’t! I grabbed underwater atlantis ruins and made it into an aquarium zoo with themed flooring… one time I made a greenhouse out of several recolored tilesets and the only thing I had to draw was glass tiles!)
I’m not here to complain. See if I want to do something unique, I CAN draw it myself… the thing is, my art is passable, but I don’t like drawing as much as coding so it’s not a great incentive. I’d rather grab something an actual artist made! Genuinely! That’s mutual benefit! So I’m not here to complain I’m just… kinda sad tbh!
When I go look at what’s new a lot of it doesn’t do anything to stand out! It’s just more trees and villages and oh this one has a slime enemy. Well. Like 2 out of 5 I saw in the past month. And they’re all blue. Rimuru come back here
Part of it is of course because I’ve been there a while, but you’d be surprised how some stuff is actually hard to find. A 16x16 4 directions dragon, for instance? I’ve only found one. Why’s no one drawing that when there’s so many 16x16 fantasy packs? (I think it’s because they’re hard to draw, which… fair. but there’s a niche there!)
One time years ago I went looking for a giant beehive environment for a part of a game I was making, and I could not for the life of me find anything, paid or not, so I drew it myself and put it out there. Recently, I noticed someone else did it too (much better than my own lol, more detail, cleaner art, they did a great job)
But like. There’s plenty of other themes that probably never see the light of day. Say, a flesh environment like you’re inside a monster, I’ve only seen a couple float by too, and at least one of them was precisely in a fantasy pack that went out its way to cover a dozen of themes. Most folks stop at the base fantasy stuff as a starting kit. There might be some here and there but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pack intended to be set in a real city, so you can’t really make a historical game without custom assets— wouldn’t there be a lot of games you could make if you could make it look like you’re strolling in Paris in particular? There’s plenty of photo references for this stuff, but people will mostly draw something generic instead (understandably! being too specific risks not selling!). There’s a lot of gaps when everyone does the same stuff over and over, especially if it’s in almost the same way they’ve seen before.
Coz that’s what happens when you try and be generic. You match the generally accepted feel. Look at the current state of anime, you could put half a dozen isekais in the same world and the characters wouldn’t notice anything changed. The tropes barely ever vary from how they’re established. Elves are thin, pale pretty blondes with light eyes and long ears (have you ever seen a fat elf in mainstream media??). Magic is cast with mana and if you go too hard you cough blood (no one remembers tuberculosis is the origin of this trope). Young nobles all go to a magical academy (this is such a funny parody of what europe was like that it’s completely detached from reality at this point).
I find this fascinating. Not bad. Really interesting in its own way. People end up concentrating on details to be creative about and it has its own value. But it does not help anyone be super creative in the broader settings. Even the sceneries are the same, and it ends up reflecting on what you find on itch— because stories that have already been made are what artists draw inspiration from, right? It’s a cycle.
(It’s a cycle in more ways than one, the other day I saw someone compile a bunch of webtoons that re-use the same 3d model of a castle to trace in their story, because they all used the same resources to draw…!)
So, I think going out your way to do something specific makes you stand out lately, if only because there’s so much generic stuff floating around. Specific themes in a huge pack ARE often the appeal. A city isn’t just streets and doors and windows. What about bus stops and railways? Shops with their big letters out front? Parks? And every one in the real world has its own quirks too. If you draw a specific train, it’ll feel homely to someone, and like a faded vacation for someone else. A train you draw as you think about what trains look like from movies and films, or referenced as a midway point between four others, will not evoke a particularly strong feeling, it’s just the idea of a train.
Oh wow this is getting away from me. Apologies. You don’t have to post all that. Let me get back on track.
Lately on itch I noticed one artist who’s been doing a fantasy pack BUT having a fun time doing less realistic colors, and see, that makes them stand out! I actually remember them! But that’s an exception. Most don’t do that. The grass is green, the sky is blue, and winter packs (when they exist) are all white snow over forests with frozen lakes.
From my personal experience the stand out criteria for asset packs are often sheer variety/volume (not super healthy for artists but I think that’s the biggest appeal, which encourages generic takes on stuff… since you want big numbers. Still huge respect for those who actually go through with it, it’s a ton of work, especially if they do take the time to explore themes!) or personal taste (can’t actually control your audience, but say, I’ll pick up characters if I think their faces look particularly cute over more crunched up ones).
TLDR I really respect all the artists on itch but I’m sad “generic” seems to be believed to be the way to go to sell something. I’m not even sure it’s actually true. It feels like christmas whenever I find something I’ve never seen before on itch! (ouch my wallet. yes i have an asset hoarding problem.)
All that to say: I really like your art! It stood out to me from how expressive and diverse it feels! I’ll be looking at your future works~ Sorry about the ramble hahaha I spent like… an hour more on this than I intended o-O No need to post it if you don’t wanna…
Hey, don't worry about the length. I write long ass rambles, rants, and essays all the time. On letterbox'd you can see me write 10k words for movies 5 people saw. I appreciate a person who can speak at length about things and isn't afraid to follow sidebars and tangents and can and does circle back to the point effectively. Underrated skills.
This was really fascinating to read and could EASILY be reshaped into a convincing "state of the union" style essay about where things are at for this aspect of Itch. Itch does not receive much coverage the way other big internet things do, not that I know of. I have to admit though that I'm not in "the community" of itch very much. I have a weird disconnect where it's hard for me to see how and where to "join" stuff and I often find myself on the margins wondering why I can't get closer. I kinda hope the weird meta-discourse on things like Youtube never really happens to itch but if it did, I suspect reflective essays like yours here would be the higher quality material.
Anyways. It's nice to know that you appreciate what I try to do with my assets. You're bang on that "generic" seems to sell better but also comes with major caveats. I noticed there were almost no unofficial cyberpunk/scifi/future assets for RPG Maker and similar all the way back in 2001 when I first started playing with RM2K. It hasn't got much better since then and I suppose part of that may be a lack of standout, big deal indie games (particularly RPG maker games) that use these aesthetics. There is ALWAYS time for fantasy, even the generic Western Europe shit that you always see. There is also an entire subgenre of "Stardew-like" assets and games. I myself am making a take on the lifesim genre, The Hedge Wizard, but the art style is probably closer to Earthbound, Roots of Pacha, etc than to Stardew. You can see some of the material from that on my tumblr if you're keen.
My personal fantasy theme, The Nine Realms, on itch, is Norse inspired and does feature diverse characters for the exact reasons you highlight. I think the fantasy genre and JRPGs have a long history of racism, some of it very mild and some of it not at all. The kind of person who looks at my Nine Realms stuff and goes "black vikings? wtf" is a person I don't want anywhere near me or my work. They're not only factually incorrect assuming Europe was some kind of white fortress, but they're missing the point. I'm glad you get it because it means someone does. You may be interested to know that Nine Realms basically does not sell. I periodically work on it still because I have a big plan for it (including a take on elves I think you'll like) but it's a passion project. I think it would sell better if I was more holistic in my approach to what assets to include (one piece of advice I got was that it should include "farmsim" stuff and I see why but haven't been especially moved to get into that). In the very cynical and depressed part of my brain, I assume racism and "anti-woke" sentiment is part of the reason it doesn't sell too. I deliberately drew a line in the sand, a thing I do often on principle, and I can handle the consequences. Like you, I am often fascinated by these things, especially how tropes work.
At the end of the day, artists are on itch for different reasons. There's a small community of pixel artists who specifically do itch stuff and there's a split between those who buy into the hustle mindset, the personal brand, all that shit, and people who do not. I do not. I know it means I'm "less successful" but the far end of the more hustle-oriented artists are people who analyze Youtube metrics and exploit children for money (people don't like to admit or consider that the internet's demographics have fundamentally changed) creep me the fuck out and I won't be part of that.
Would love a link to the fantasy artist you mention. Always looking for people to follow on itch. I also tend to like unorthodox color choices. I played a game a while back that was basically a top down Soulslike made out of scribbles. Can't remember the title and google is of no help as usual. Haha. Anyway, that one was cool.
Last thing I'll say for now is that I do have something new coming, a new theme, that is all in b&w or grayscale. I've teased it a bit but let me know if you want the full pitch and I can lay it out. It's the thing called Retro Dead City. Might be a big enough hint right there. Haha.
Thank you for showing so much interest in me and my work. I really appreciate it and enjoy conversations like this.

Tumblr media
Shamlessly posting all my ramblings from twitter on here.
I actully like this show, not enough to break the boycott but enough to pirate it. anyways lets go through the quick list as this show has a range of good points and bad points!
1. Designs. I fucking love monsters, monsters are my Bread, my Butter, My reason for getting up in the morning, yet consistently i found myself disappointed in each of the characters and what they were supposed to be, for instance alastor and vox
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these two are supposed to media manifest, alastor is the Radio demon, yet his apperance is more around overtly edgy homestuck troll with horns i couldnt draw yet and vox is giving pyrocynical avatar. their designs are muddied because the concepts are muddied. alastor is not only the radio demon, he is the "voodoo man", the circus, the entertainer, the deal maker, the shadow weaver, the puppet on strings, and a myriad of other resume stuffers that are not needed. there is more then enough. every layer fights each other for attention, the only thing left on him that even remotly represents the radio is his staff that modulates his voice to have a radio static filter and without it he becomes a normal deer esque demon. i do not thing its good design if i can remove one aspect of a charecter and ruin it. this goes for vox as well, though i give them more of a pass because fuck me, he really do be haveing a Television as a head. but once again if i removed that aspect, what else tells me he is the television demon? his tie has a singal symbol on it, he has kinda robotic hands? but not really because he has the exact same hands as alastor leading me to belive he is wearing fingerless gloves or gloves with color blocked fingers which is a werid additon.this is ontop of the annoynce i feel at knowing that one is a recolor of the other minus the heads.
2. the pace.
the story itself moves either way to fucking quickly, i do belive that it was good to end the story itself on a redemption but we dont get enough of pentious being an actul sinner and evil guy to feel as though he deserves the redemption. show us the worst traits of our guests so that we can see the progress they are makeing through out the season so that when they do finally do something heroic and selfless and make it to heaven, we the viewing audiance can also enjoy that unilateral feeling of satisfaction of seeing our fav be vindicated as a Good Guy. im not trying to woobify pentious, exact oppisate, i want pentious to have agency to be evil and i want him to have agency to be good. we get this Somewhat with angel dust as they start makeing concious decisions to better themselves, to extract themselves from things, as well as make awful fucking choices and do Bad Things because again, these are Sinners And Demons who are reaching for redemption and salvation, I do not think we should have seen heaven at all, the embassy? yes, maybe a court of angels in hell to consider charlies plan? sure, but we should have never seen heaven until a sinner could see it.
i think i just had those two but im Bad At Being Concise... anyways viv is better at writing gay people then she is at lesbians which fascinates me to no end.

Goodbye?
So this post is WAAAAAAY overdue but I felt like it was time to say something here... I’ve mentioned it on my main blog but I know not everyone who follows this is following that one.
Long story short, I’m probably never going to post here again. I don’t want to say _never _because who knows, maybe I’ll change my mind, but for over a year now I have had no desire to work on CC or even mess with anything related to it. I’ve become extremely burnt out, and I’ve even reached the point where I’m fed up enough to probably stop playing TS4.
I’ll go into more detail under the cut, but totally I understand if that doesn’t interest you. So just know that I appreciate all the love and support I’ve gotten over the years. This was an amazing era in my life and I’ll always look back on it fondly. I’ve made a lot of great friends through this process and it’s been so surreal at times. You’re all wonderful, and I wish I could continue, but I just can’t. Feel free to share/make edits to my CC as you wish.
So I guess these are my main reasons:
Burnout: It hit me HARD: At my peak I was struggling to find a job and so I had a lot of time to dedicate to recoloring. I would jump on recoloring for packs the second S4S got updated. But now I can’t even bring myself to recolor or edit anything. I was actually in a really bad place mentally at my “peak” on this blog, and my life is so different now. I’m in therapy, I’m taking meds, and I’m feeling really good. And I’m just so busy with other things, the last thing I feel like doing after work/when I have free time is to work on CC.
TS4 is Super Broken: It becomes really frustrating when every new patch EA comes out with means that people have to come to your inbox to let you know that your stuff is broken. I don’t make mods, so I always foolishly assumed my stuff wouldn’t break. But then it did. And again. And again. And AGAIN. I can’t be active enough to stay on top of it anymore. And a lot of the time I straight up don’t know WHY my stuff doesn’t work, so I don’t know how to even approach fixing it. Then there’s the issue of having to post the update, hope people see it, and try to find a way to lead people who stumble across my blog from a youtube video or blog post that’s several years old to the most up-to-date version. Its too confusing for them and for me and I kind of hate having more than one post for the same item.
I just don’t have the time anymore: I work a 40+ hour work week now, and then try to juggle my social life, chores at home, taking care of myself, and my hobbies. I barely play TS4 or get on my computer much anymore (my work is all computer based so sometimes I just want to do anything else when I get home). Its too the point that every time I’ve tried to play the game I have to update. I can’t keep up with all the changes the game is making, and I don’t even keep track of when packs come out anymore. PLUS I’m starting school again at the end of next month, and I’m still going to be working at my current job so I’m hardly going to have any free time coming up soon.
I am giving up on TS4: this is mixed with #2. The game isn’t really fun. I lasted as long as I did because I wasn’t playing, I was making CC and staging story posts. I don’t have the time to really do either of those, but I can make some time to try and play for fun. But it’s not fun. And there seems to be game breaking bugs every other week now, and while the packs seem promising, they are riddled with bugs of their own. Not to mention the laundry list of things the team has promised they would go back and fix and just haven’t, and probably never will because they have to pump out 20 new kits before the end of the year. I’ve spent more money than I’d like to admit on this game, and I don’t even find it fun to play anymore. I made the mistake of getting back into TS3 and realizing that I actually enjoy that game, which just made it so clear to me how much I don’t enjoy TS4. So I’m saying goodbye to it. I’ve complained for long enough that it’s time to really do something about it. And this is that thing.
So I think that’s it. I’m really sorry if you liked my CC and hoped I would continue. I hate letting people down. But I can’t force myself to do this anymore. I had a good run, and it was made so special by every one of you. You have no idea how much your support has helped me out through some really low times. But all good things must come to an end sometime, and I think it’s long overdue. You can still catch me at @tainoodles if you want to chat. But I am no longer working on CC. Thanks again for everything ♥

Too shy to ask on my main but I've been wondering, just how do you make those renders of your oc? What's the process? How is it made? She looks so damn good I thought she was actually in the game!!
SO... god where to even start. ITS HARD FOR ME TO EVEN REMEMBER WHERE I STARTED BECAUSE IT WAS A WHILE AGO NOW.
So I actually started her back in late May last year, and it was just kind of a "I want to make a sorta self-insert/OC based on me". So, I gathered a few different female models that I knew would work for my purposes and then took two pics of myself; one from the front and one from the side. Then I took Calisto's head since she's the closest to my appearance and sculpted it to match the photos... somewhat, with some modifications just due to the way cameras are with focal length and the fact while sculpting I had to use and orthographic view, blah blah blah, technical stuff. Eventually got the face right and modified the textures to have a different hairline, add some eyebags, slight modification on normal maps, then got to the process of adding hair, clothes, the gear. So her hair is Valeria's hair, slightly lighter, then he part was modified by sculpting and also pulling the left side behind the ear. Other parts of her include from Roze (the shirt is recolored, her boots, and then a lot of her vest gear, including radio and earpiece), Valeria (hair as mentioned before, gloves, vest, holster, and kneepad (og had one, i brought it to two)), Farah (pants and belt), and also other scraps from Gromsko, Hutch, Luna, pretty much whatever lil bits I needed!
It was a lot of work though, from modifiying weight paints to a lot more, I estimate it probably took me 80 hours give or take. It was a such a fun way to test myself honestly and I'm happy I did it and I'm genuinely so happy you guys love her too and say things like you thought she was in the game! It really does mean the world 🥹💜 because now what started as a self insert has devolped into an actual OC with an actual story that honestly? I hope to gain the confidence to share someday 💀

BOOKS I READ IN 2023: REVIEWS
At the beginning of 2023, I made a resolution to read at least one new book each month. Life got busy and I didn't always keep up with my reading goals, but since it's the last day of the year, I wanted to do a brief review for each new book I read :P
JANUARY
Martita, I Remember You / Martita, te recuerdo - Sandra Cisneros
I have been a huge fan of Sandra Cisneros for many years now and quite honestly can say she's one of my biggest inspirations in the way I've developed my own skills as a writer. So of course I was more than excited when she announced her latest novella. Martita, I Remember You is a book that had me getting teary-eyed in the breakroom at my workplace when I would read it during lunch. Such is the way that Cisneros touches the heart so masterfully, with such profound and succinct prose. It's imbued with autobiographical aspects of Cisneros's life, but it's also very much a story for anyone who has long distance friendships, the way it captures that feeling of connection beyond place and time. Can't recommend this one enough, it's a short and very worthwhile read!
The Tea Master and the Detective - Aliette de Bodard
This one was a recommendation from Nami, and a very wonderful one! I hadn't read anything by Aliette de Bodard before, and even without having read the other installments in this particular series, I thought the worldbuilding was so vibrant and captivating that I didn't find myself feeling lost or in need of explanation beyond what de Bodard showed in her writing. One of my favorite elements of The Tea Master and the Detective was the cast of strong and interesting female characters, the sly and mysterious detective, Long Chau, being my favorite ^^ This one, too, was a rather short read, yet the thrill of a fast-paced adventure and murder mystery was no less amazing than you'd expect from a longer novel. Definitely recommend this one if you're looking for a sci-fi story that strays from the typical genre framework.
FEBRUARY
Dragon's Winter (1997 Uncorrected Proof) - Elizabeth A Lynn
Well, this was me cheating a little bit ^^'' I've read EAL's Dragon's Winter as well as the sequel novel probably at least ten times, as it's one of my all time favorite books. And each time I re-read it, I absorb something new - a little detail in the setting that recolors my memory, or way a line of dialogue is spoken here and there that gives a certain inflection. But when I came across a copy of the original uncorrected proof version of this novel, I couldn't get my hands on it fast enough 😆 In a way, it was like engaging with the material with fresh eyes, taking in the differences and aspects that hadn't yet been fully decided on by the author in the final draft. One aspect that I observed in the original uncorrected proof of DW is how EAL seemed to allow one of the main characters, Azil, more insight into his emotions and inner thoughts than in the final edition of the novel, which was something I relished greatly. Why she made the decision to edit those passages out, I wonder about; perhaps she intended for Azil to be more enigmatic, to have less of a POV or central narrative position in the story. I wonder about this, because I think making Azil more in the foreground of the story makes thematic sense. Dragon's Winter is, on its surface, a story about twin brothers (one a dragon changeling, the other a wizard) who go to war with one another. But on a deeper level, it's about the complicated love story between Karadur and Azil: their friendship, one's betrayal of the other, the way they must pick up and mend the pieces afterwards. They both undergo a transformation of sorts, of multiple sorts. Their relationship is the lifeblood of the story, and I felt that even more intensely in EAL's original version of the novel. As I said, this is perhaps my favorite book of all time, and so I definitely recommend this one tenfold, especially to anyone interested in queer fantasy stories!
APRIL
The Hacienda - Isabel Cañas
Oh my, how I adored this one! Isabel Cañas is probably my favorite author I've discovered this year, and I'm so excited for everything she's going to publish in the future as well ;v; The Hacienda is a book that has something to offer for pretty much everyone - gripping, graphic horror, amazingly researched history, compelling and interesting female characters, and a really nicely written romance. Regarding the latter, I was actually surprised how into the relationship between Beatriz and Andrés I became xD (like yeah, girl! get that hot priest!! 🔥🔥🔥) At its core, The Hacienda is a take on the haunted house genre, rife with the ghosts of Spanish colonization and Mexico's war for independence. I really enjoyed Beatriz as a horror story protagonist and a Final Girl; there was a strength and ambitiousness to her that made it really easy to root for her. And I loved Andrés as the parallel protagonist across from her, as well as his dual role as a spiritual guide to his community, not only as a Catholic priest but as a curandero in touch with Indigenous perspectives of curses and spirits. There was something really refreshing about the way Cañas writes them working together to uncover the source of the haunting. I will warn that the ending has more of a bittersweet mood rather than a happy ending, but overall it's a very enjoyable read!
JUNE - JULY
The Left Hand of Darkness - Ursula K. Le Guin
Wow, where to even begin. This was the first full-length novel by Le Guin that I read, by Suri's recommendation, and it completely blew me away with what Le Guin had the ability to accomplish in her worldbuilding. I truly don't think I've ever encountered another science fiction story that utilizes its genre to encapsulate such a sincere and complex reflection of humanity and society that The Left Hand of Darkness achieves. For one thing, Le Guin's background in anthropology shines in the way she positions Genly as a lens through which the reader similarly takes in such a vastly different alien culture, at times grappling to understand them and at other times seeing them as though through a mirror reflection of ourselves. Genly's dynamic with Estraven, in particular, and the way it changes over the course of the story, acting as the emotional current of their combined journeys, was most captivating part for me. I know TLHoD has sort of become more widely known on tumblr for the way it explores gender and sexuality, which it does quite extraordinarily. But I think, at the heart of it, TLHoD is a story about storytelling, the way it promotes understanding in a way that ascends scientific observation of another culture. This is certainly a book I will be re-reading many times in the future, absorbing more new tidbits each time.
SEPTEMBER
Killers of the Flower Moon - David Grann
The one non-fiction book I read this year, and what a fascinating one. Placing it in the genre of true crime seems somewhat inaccurate, as this story is so much larger than the narrative of murder and corruption, but a real life horror story of the violence wrought by white supremacy. Killers of the Flower Moon covers only part of a historical era that saw a widespread conspiracy to seize the headrights of Indigenous people from the Osage nation, who after being forcibly displaced and moved to a reservation, were found to be on land that was rich with oil. Needless to say, this is not a part of history that gets taught in American history classrooms. So I found Grann's relaying of the Osage murders to be educational as it was gripping, sorrowful, and meticulous in its outlaying of all the different factors that went into this tragedy, the disenfranchisement and dehumanization of an entire group of people, all for the sake of sating the avarice of another group of people. Since the film adaptation's release, I have seen some members of the Osage community, as well as other Indigenous people, critique both the film's and novel's centering of white characters in the story. I can certainly see how Grann spent a lot of the novel focused on the early FBI's involvement in the investigation, at the detriment of making Osage characters like Molly more prominent. If anything, I think KotFM works as an effective starting point for anyone wanting to learn more about this part of history, passing from this work to those written and spoken by Osage voices.
The Haunting of Alejandra – V. Castro
Okay so as soon as I saw the premise of this novel announced, and from an author whose other works I really enjoyed, I was sold right away. Anyone who knows me knows I'm obsessed with the ever-evolving figure of La Llorona and her tragic, haunting narrative. And this take on La Llorona, as with many of Castro's other decolonial reimaginings, was amazingly refreshing. For one thing, it blew me away how Castro's Llorona was not just a ghostly figure, but almost more of a demonic entity - only to then be revealed to be something so much stranger, an interdimensional being that feeds on grief. I also found the titular character of Alejandra to be just as refreshing of a heroine - older, anxious, in an unhappy, thankless marriage. She's worn out in the beginning, fractured by trauma and disconnected from her heritage, her family history. Castro has a way of using horror and subjects of trauma in her novels to be transformed into something cathartic, and it's no different here as Alejandra finds healing and strength in order to protect her children from this monstrous Llorona, to save herself from the same fate. I 100% recommend this one to anyone else who grew up with folktales of La Llorona and other boogeymen, this version is definitely worth the read!
OCTOBER
She Who Became the Sun – Shelley Parker-Chan
Every now and then, I come across a book that I can clearly see is good, but just not for me. I finally read She Who Became the Sun after seeing a lot of hype on social media, and plenty of rave reviews from some people I follow on here. But as much as I really wanted to like, even love, this novel, I just could not get myself into it. And as for why I couldn't get into it, I have to admit I'm still not entirely certain; you would think that a fictionalized queer drama based on Chinese history with fantasy elements would be the very essence of my cup of tea. The prose was beautiful, the dialogue flowed well. I think the major issue for me, however, lies in the pacing. At the halfway mark of the book, I still really wasn't captivated by any of the characters very much, or the plot - the latter hadn't actually moved along very much, in fact. Even at three-quarters of the way through, I was still desperately waiting for something to grip me by the shoulders and make me pay attention. Additionally (and others who read and loved this novel may disagree with me on this), I actually think much of the first chunk of the book could have been heavily edited down, or even just cut away entirely and relayed through flashbacks. Most of Zhu's time at the temple during her childhood could have been mentioned elsewhere, or visited briefly as she senses herself becoming more ruthless later on (really, the two most important scenes in that whole section were when Ouyang burned down the temple, and earlier when she thought of murdering one of the teacher monks). The way that the sudden rebellions were so quickly squashed, the way characters were swiftly and brutally removed from the story, seemed more like an attempt at shock value than actually serving to raise the stakes or move the story forward. But anyways, to conclude this off: I can see why lots of people did enjoy this novel, it certainly has all the right the elements of tumblr's next favorite book, after Captive Prince and The Raven Cycle. But I think in order for me to have liked it, it would have required a different editor behind the writing process, someone who encouraged Parker-Chan to cut down the excess and make the story flow better overall.
NOVEMBER
Guardian / Zhen Hun (Vol. 1) – Priest
I had heard of this series when it was a live action drama you could find on youtube, but reading the translated first volume this year has made me totally head over heels for the story and characters. Guardian has quickly become one of my favorite Danmei, set in a world where the mundane and the supernatural frequently collide and it's up to a paranormal detective agency to handle these matters. I especially love the way Priest balances the setting with dark, macabre subjects with moments of light-hearted humor. But amid the adventurous aspects of the story, the central conflict mainly involves the budding romance between Zhao Yunlan and the mysterious Shen Wei. The romance is delightful to read, and I think their personalities are what make them really compelling, when they're apart and when they're together. I'm excited to read more of this series when the English versions get released ^^
DECEMBER
Vampires of el Norte – Isabel Cañas
Another Isabel Cañas novel, and just as enjoyable of a read! Just like The Hacienda, Vampires of el Norte blends history and horror, portraying the Mexican-American War through its effect on hacendados being violently forced from their land by Anglos - and also being preyed on by vampires. Even more so than in The Hacienda, Cañas has a masterful way of building and sustaining suspense in this story. Despite it being a non-traditional form of horror, the danger looming all around of vampires, and also of violent Anglos, persists throughout. As someone who loves vampire literature, I was really impressed with how Cañas uses vampires here as an allegory for colonization/displacement, and the way that several characters in the novel at first mistake vampirism for a kind of susto. Furthermore, I thought it interesting how the vampires of this world are much more animalistic than the suave, intellectual type of vampire you see often in vamp literature. Rather than being evil or demonic, they're almost neutral in their methods of hunting, more like predators that are solely motivated by hunger, as one would view a wolf or puma. The way that these vampires are weaponized by Anglos almost seems to reference the way that Spaniards would train their large, European breeds of dogs to maul Indigenous peoples during the conquest - a connection that remains in line with Cañas's decolonial themes. Also like The Hacienda, the characters here are written wonderfully, their dreams and fears focusing the reader in with their emotional currents. Nena and Néstor's tumultuous romance takes center stage, the novel opening on the tragedy that splits them apart for nine years. I loved that there were so many layers to their love for each other, the sweet and innocent puppy love they had as children, the different ways they felt anger and betrayal by the parts of their lives around each other that they couldn't control, the moments of heady sensuality and heated bickering while on their journey home, and the fact that they both have to literally and figuratively fight to be with each other. I think Cañas had a lot of fun writing Nena and Néstor's relationship, and it was definitely fun to read ^^
Those were the books I read in 2023! For 2024, my main goal is to read through all the Danmei I've been piling up 🤭

Bygones: A Stammering Adrien AU Moment
Based on This AU
Marinette and Alya head to the fabric store. Little do they know they’re about to run into an old friend.
Alya: I can't believe you ran out of fabric. You NEVER run out of fabric.
Marinette: I know, and I'm kicking myself for it, believe me. Anyway, this shouldn't take long. I just need to get some pink and white.
Alya: Of course.
Marinette: What's that supposed to mean?
Alya: Girl, if you could recolor the world, it would pink and white.
Marinette: *blushing* Not true. *bumps into someone*
Socqueline: Oops. Sorry about that, I was... Marinette? Alya?
Marinette and Alya: Socqueline?
*silence*
All three girls: SQUEEE!
*all of them hug*
Socqueline: It's been FOREVER!
Alya: Girl, where have you BEEN?!
Marinette: We missed you SO MUCH!
Socqueline: I missed you too! I'm so sorry. I lost touch after I switched schools!
Alya: Don't worry about it. Just give us your new digits.
Marinette: It'll be great to catch up. I can't wait for you to meet all of our new friends.
Socqueline: That sounds... Uh oh. Heads up, girls. She-beast at 12:00
*the girls turn to see Chloé and Zoe*
Socqueline: Wait here, girls. I think it’s time I gave that brat a piece of my mind. *goes towards Chloé*
Alya: Wait! Socqueline, don’t!
Marinette: Not good. Definitely not good.
Chloé: *to Zoe* So does the fabric have to be a certain type of green to work?
Zoe: As far as I can tell, no. The software should be able to do its job.
Socqueline: Hey! Bourgeois!
Chloé: Huh? Me?
Socqueline: Yeah, you. *shoves Chloe*
Chloé: Hey! What gives?! What’s your... Socqueline Wang?
Socqueline: That’s right. And I have a bone to pick with you.
Zoe: Hey, hold on a second. That’s my sister, and you... *sees Socqueline up close and blushes*   You...
Socqueline: Stay out of this! *back at Chloé* Chloé Bourgeois, you are the absolute worst person. Ever. You've bullied, harassed, tortured and tormented me and my friends for years. I don’t know what it is that makes you think you can just treat other people like rubbish, but if you haven’t changed by now...
Marinette: Socqueline, stop!
Alya: Chloé has changed!
Socqueline: *looks at them* What?! No, th-that can’t be right! *looks back at Chloé* Can it?
Chloé and Zoe: *nod*
Socqueline: *gulp* Uh, about what I was saying earlier...
Chloé: *puts up her hand* Don’t apologize. Honestly, I had it coming. *sigh* I’m really sorry, Socqueline. I never should have done all those terrible things. To you, Marinette, Alya, or anyone else. I have no excuse. Can you ever forgive me?
Socqueline: *sigh* It’s... It’s not gonna be easy. You did a lot of awful things. *looks at her friends* But if they can forgive you, I guess I can too.
Chloé: *relieved sigh* Thank you. And you have my word. I will never bully anyone ever again.
Zoe: So, um, is that it? Because we still need to buy fabric
Marinette: Oh yeah, us too.
Socqueline: I was on my way there. Follow me.
Later
Zoe: *carrying a bag of green fabric* Who was that?
Marinette: *carrying a bag of pink and white fabric* Socqueline Wang.
Alya: Old friend of ours. The three of us were inseparable back in the day.
Chloé: I’m glad we met her today. It felt good to apologize.
Alya: You’re doing great, honey. Really.
Marinette: I’m glad we’ve reconnected. It’ll be great to hang out with her again.
Zoe: Um, Marinette? About that. Could I get a small favor?
Marinette: What is it, Zoe?
Zoe: *blushing* Could you, maybe, put in a good word with her, you know, about me?
*everyone looks at her*
Chloé: *smirks and elbows Zoe* Oh La La. Does my big sister have a crush?
Zoe: *blushes deeper and shoves Chloe* Chloe! Shut up!
Alya: Aw, Zoe, don’t be embarrassed.
Marinette: Yeah. I’m sure Socqueline would be flattered.
Zoe: *covering her face* STOOOOOOP!

beat Forspoken, and while I probably will write an in-depth review down the line cuz i have many thoughts, I'm just going to pointform my basic thoughts while it's still fresh.
PROS
Great designs all around, the Tantas look so breathtaking with their extravagant designs and yet it doesn't take away from their world, it fits just right in. Absolutely love it.
Good world building most questions i had were answered either through the main story or extra archive stuff. Nothing felt too weird yknow
Gameplay gameplay gameplay. The magic system is literally amazing. I dont think I've had this much fun fighting in an rpg in a long time. Theres so much fun variety so you can focus on whats comfortable for you while also looking sick as fuck. Have i mentioned how good the battle system is cuz i avoid playing mage in every game because its such a slog but here its so fast paced and hits hard. Perfect for me.
The music is soooo good, I love the main theme and find myself humming it literally all the time.
Great graphics but maybe a lil too many particle effects but otherwise really pretty.
The story is technically a pro. Like its good, not bad, not great, just good. Basically something you'd find in the YA Fantasy section, thats the kinda quality it was. Which isn't a insult I did enjoy the story and characters. It just needed polish, fix up the dialogue and trim some of the story fat and i wouldn't have any complaints tbh. Probably would do better as a book series tho ngl, not sure what game format would have saved it.
Shoutout to the accessibility options. I'm glad more games are including these. I'll never understand complaints about them though, like just dont use them if you dont want/need to thats it.
ALMOST FORGOT THE COOLEST THING. THE NAILS. I'm sorry but the idea of using nail art to inscribe magic runes to give you buffs is the coolest fucking idea ever, why has this concept not been used till now. We always see rune tatoos or written on gear and stuff im fantasy media but this is such a neat ideaaaa and im forever thankful for it. Her capes are cool too I guess, with there was more variety rather than recolors tho. Kinda wish we could also get different outfits for her tho. Those jeans probably chafe.
CONS
THE OPEN WORLD IS SO BIG FOR NO GODDAMN REASON. I honestly wish this wasn't an open world game tbh, its so unnecessary. Halfway through the game, i got so frustrated and ignored everything that wasn't story points cuz getting everywhere takes so damn long, especially early on when you dont have fancy parkour or stamina. Easily its biggest fault for me.
I understand they thought it'd do way better than what happened but planning out a story as a trilogy in the gaming industry is not a smart move. I've yet to play the dlc so idk if we get closure but the loose ends werent a great way for the game to end.
Oh, the dialogue. Its easily one of the gamest weakest points. Like the type of dialogue i was writing in my original stories when i was 13 (not that ive gotten any better tbh). Basically, it's not what you expect from such a vaunted company. Frey is great when shes excited or angry, which is most of the time, but occasionally, they'll hit me with the cheesiest line I've heard in years, and idk how to handle it. Like the stuff she says in the final chapter is honestly so robotic, there is no natural flow present. Which is a pity cuz the actress was killing it tbh, like she definitely carried the lines with her emotion. Unfortunately, it couldn't save them. Like if it was something they dropped on ps3 or wii, it honestly would have done fine. What i mean to say is the dialogue is very outdated in this age of gaming. im actually surprised how out of touch it feels. Especially since otherwise its a solid game all around. Regarding Cuff and Frey banter you do have the option to make it less frequent or just turn it off but i never really found them annoying regardless.
Maybe its just me but the control scheme feels so weird, the games makes you feel like you should be gliding most of the time but holding O while spaming all those trigger buttons feels so awkward to me. But then again I also didnt care enough to change the control scheme so.

Hello dear platasp! Do you perhaps mind to tell me how to do wcifs for.. Myself basically? Lol, I have a lot of clothes and objects in my game which I have no idea what files they are that I would like to delete. I've heard that deleting them directly by the trashcan in game does not actually delete the file and causes corruption. So I'm not sure how to actually remove unwanted cc. Thank you!
Hey anon! Here's my process (someone else may have their own way - please comment below!)
Objects - I'll drop a 5x5 empty lot and go in and start putting every piece of CC I don't want. When I'm done going through the catalogue, I'll package up the lot and exit the game. From there, I will load up Sims 2 Clean Installer and load the lot. Sims 2 Clean Installer will provide the filename + the subfolder it is located so you can easily delete its mesh and recolors 😄
CAS - These items (clothing/makeup/hair) I'll go into game and in neighborhood view I'll turn on boolProp testingcheatsenabled true. I'll then load up CAS and press CTRL + N - this will turn on debug mode. I can then hover over all the CC items and find their tooltips - if they have them. This can also be done in BodyShop, but keep in mind that BodyShop will also run through object cc - making your loading time for the program much, much longer You can also use Pick'n'Mix's Outfit Organizer to delete CAS items and preview them as well without going into the game :)
The only thing I can think of that may cause "corruption" is if you delete CC items that are loaded to your catalogue bin - I know that's not the right terminology lol. What I mean is if you have like... Castaway Stories stuff in your program files to remove the CC star and label it as BV. I don't know what it will do, but it won't be good.
Things like geneticized and townified skin/eyes being deleted can cause your sims to look funky and mess up their DNA + their future spawn. It won't necessarily hurt your game (I don't think), but it's better to either leave them or be prepared to update affected sims.
Edit: also check out decat’s reblog regarding more cc that can mess up your hood. Didn’t even think of it because I don’t play with custom food or NPCs (except aliens and I’ve had the same ones for years). Any cc that impacts memory - in my understanding - can be fixed by editing the memories of the sims.
I hope this helps!

🕴and  think that these are half and to which I pay more attention.
Favorite: Robotron Von Kleist, He is one of my oldest characters, i created it when I was 13 years old, at that time I wanted to do an animated series and he was the villain of the series, eventually (and obviously) I left the project but I kept him because  I love him design, and in the end he became my favorite son.
Comfort: Mr Blossom (funfact is my rl name), You know, imagining my 70s homosexual secret love plot with Dr Nefario gives me years of life.
Sona: Black Wolf It is the second character that i created when he just started drawing and with which i stopped doing sonic recolors, he went from being a secondary character to literally being my representation on the internet. I am very ashamed to always tell his lore, but it all boils down to "hellsing with Backrooms"
Favorite Desing: Vil Haze He became my second favorite son, and I'm just so proud of all the aesthetics and lore I've created for him.
Oldest Still Active: Mark Wilson I have this habit of making an effort with the stories of my characters and Mark is no exception, He is the main character of one of my most vicious projects, writing a book.
Newest: Haru If I had a coin for each character that I have created from my hyperfixations, I would have already paid the foreign debt of my country. The whole point of Haru is that he's an otaku...and he fights with Fanboy because Otakus vs Comics fan.
Deserves more love: Rubidio the  Fifinella, she is an oc from Epic Mickey, I create her together with my businessman smurf, its story is very simple since it is more like a comedy than something serious.
Need a rework: Hux and Hax both created for the Rayman fandom, but like Rubidio and Business Smurf they are just for comic relief and don't have a very well built lore.
Kin: Count Black Latte, The truth is that the more time passes, the more traits of myself I give to Latte, He's pretty much also like a comfort character at this point.
