Anyway, 1 am ramble about Thermite and Thatcher

Literally everyone on the team assumes that Thermite is the one who's submissive in the relationship, but it's genuinely the opposite.

Thermite will usually default to Thatcher's lead outside the bedroom, sure, even though they see each other as equals. He relies on Thatcher to be ahead of him when they're working a scenario or responding to an attack; Thatcher clears the way for him, he makes sure Thermite isn't going to take fire midway through a breach. Thatcher does more talking and planning. He's more likely to have something to say about someone else's ideas. Thermite's always around with a snarky comment, but he's happy to let Thatcher take the lead.

Even in training or on dates, Thermite willingly just gives up most of the control. He'll let Thatcher lead conversation and be the primary face of the relationship because it's just easier, and he likes to be taken care of, at least occasionally. One of his favorite things is to let Thatcher take care of him, and it's definitely not because Thatcher gets a sense of satisfaction out of seeing that he's doing well by his partner.

But once they're behind closed doors all bets are off.

I'm not kidding. Thatcher yields so readily to Thermite. All it takes is a pet name and a sweet word or two, and Thatcher's just melted in Thermite's hands. Thatcher's rarely if ever comfortable receiving, but he's happy to give anything and everything Thermite asks for. It took a while for him to realize how pliant he is for Thermite, how much he likes giving up control, but Thermite scratches an itch he didn't know he had.

Pet names, sweet talk, praise, and encouragement, it all feeds into something Thatcher buried a while ago. Gentle orders that he could easily reject but enjoys fulfilling. Chasing praise and touch and perhaps a low notion of possessiveness that's slightly unhealthy because Thatcher would love to get into Thermite's bones and take up whatever space is left in his ribcage so no one else can have him ( as if Thermite would ever go for someone else ).

Thatcher genuinely doesn't realize that they're in a mild d/s relationship, and Thermite knows better than to explain it. It's just better to let Thatcher go on about his day feeling better. Thatcher also doesn't realize how down bad he is, but it's- it's fine, Thermite loves him and he doesn't have to think on it too hard
