Kusakabe Atsuya A to Z
warnings: nsfw... and didn’t proofread… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
a/n: ovulating, rewatching season 2, and kinda fixating on maybe my favorite minor male character in jjk... idk i know there are more atsuya stans out here in hiding and i'm sad that there's more fic for like... idk... naoya... than him... like stand up yall, he's excellent, relatable, has a decent backstory, and i kinda wanna give him a kiss. anyway....
Masterlist
Tumblr media
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
Atsuya's disposition often reads as removed, cold, or unenthusiastic but I like to think of this in two ways: it's a defense mechanism and his job (unfortunately tied to his entire life) is conducive to him acting this way.
All of that to say he's likely the exact opposite one-on-one. Especially when he's completely disarmed by the comfort of his partner— he's the type to cradle and cuddle you, shower you in little pecks, gently move strands of hair out the way to get a better view of your face, and bury his face into your neck to breathe more of you in... You might have to kick him off of you to grab a towel before he falls asleep though.
B = Body part (Their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
For him, it’s his forearms. He’s grateful that they’re used to bearing a lot of weight and can still exert a good amount of strength. It also gives him a little endorphin rush to feel the palm of your hands grip onto his arms for leverage and support.
His favorite part of you is a 50/50 split between your breasts and the inner plush of your thighs. The sensation of rubbing against, gripping onto, pinching, and biting the delicate skin excites him, mostly because he knows that he can always get a rise out of you from those areas. Truly he's indecisive, but he knows that the soft warmth feels much better in his grasp than the stiff, weighty tsuka (the main source of the callouses on his fingertips) he's used to reaching for.
C = Cum (What it says on the tin...)
I mean there isn't anything really special about his cum (at least he thinks), but he does love seeing it streaked across your face, glistening in your mouth, running along your chin and down your neck. Guilty pleasure is seeing it in your hair, though he sympathizes with how annoying that can be to deal with so he tries to avoid it.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
He absolutely loves when you boss him around. Not that he doesn't already listen to you or that he'd be combative, but he really can't help it if his pants feel just a little tighter every time you tell him what he "needs" to do or even get a little cross with him. Oof... and you potentially praising him for doing something right? Definitely a submissive side he has yet to unpack or even connect the behavior with, though he can totally acknowledge that you taking the reins gives him a chance to step back from the big brother/instructor role for once.
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
Decently experienced and while he wouldn't divulge his past escapades with you (unless you asked), you can definitely feel the experience in how he touches you. Attentive and confident in how his hands direct your body.
F = Favorite Position (This goes without saying.)
Indecisive on this as well but he takes deep pleasure in seeing you take control. If he had to list his favorite three, it would be cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, and missionary at the very top.
I mean, he loves seeing you on top but he's a traditionalist and, efficiency-wise, he can reach where you need him most at a faster and harder pace with you under him. Missionary is also the easiest position for him to hold your cheeks between his hand to keep your focus on him.
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
Again, someone who seems more serious than not. But when he's comfortable and in a non-life threatening situation between the legs of his lover, a tender side of Atsuya shows. Of course, it takes a bit of time... multiple sessions and hours really... of cutting through his reserved attitude, but after a while you find that both of your kisses, moans, and deep, vulnerable sighs are bookended by smiles and giggles. Maybe someone pulled a funny face or decided to give up prematurely on a strenuous position. Maybe you both have a moment of realization that the perfect person is fucking you and you can't help but laugh at your luck.
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
I have a personal soft-spot for this so walk with me a bit... chest, arms, legs... perfect sprinkle of hair... enough to give a very mature (ugh... dilf-esque) compliment to the toned muscles underneath. A very charming, dark happy trail dusts his lower abs and leads to a nicely trimmed yet fuller tuft of hair above his dick.
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)
Recurring theme here... he's a secret sweetheart. Day-to-day and outside of a dangerous situation, he's a particularly dedicated, caring, and thoughtful person. There's still a reserved quality to how romantic he is PDA-wise. Hand-holding is fine, the occasional well-timed kiss— ideally away from students— is fine, he just prefers to be more chivalrous (acts of service) than overtly affectionate (touch). He's more-so worried about giving himself the ick from being a bit too forward and all over you in public (and in-turn giving you the ick.)
But... when he is all over you, the body worship makes you feel like the only person on earth. It's like he has an innate sense of how to nonverbally rectify anything you may have misread about his feelings for you (from a mix of cultivated experience and natural chemistry). Because he's constantly in minor disbelief about how you want him as much as he wants you, in bed he's very communicative, quick to learn all of your trigger points, and loves to hand out compliments:
"Mm... I remember. That spot's really sensitive... can I kiss you there?"
"Comfortable? Feel like my hands were made for holding you here..."
"Seriously don't get how someone can be as perfect as you..."
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
Oh boy... rare now since he's not away from you too often. I think prior to shooting his shot with you he had a major moment of self-discovery where you slowly became the main subject of his spank-bank.
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)
Something about Atsuya makes me think that he's generally vanilla but would be really into subtle power-play. Not committed to the full dom/sub relationship or BDSM as a practice, but loves a little touch of friendly roughness. A hand to his (or your) throat, hair tugging, a few loving slaps, maybe even a little spit-play.
I think shibari/kinbaku would be the furthest he'd go. He respects the beauty of it, the amount of trust and patience it takes to do it right, the learning process, and how much you look like you need him by the end.
L = Location (Favorite places to do the do)
Traditionalist... nothing can beat a bedroom. Though the shower is nice... keeping you from slipping gives him a great opportunity to lift. The kitchen table is great too since it offers the perfect leverage. The couch offers the same thing too for a few different positions. Well... I guess as long as it's at home...
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Your smile. It’s really that simple. Seeing you express any amount of joy, let alone share it with him fills him with a type of yearning that he can’t really verbalize. It just makes him want to be as close to you as possible.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Teacher kink... would indulge if you really enjoyed it but reminds him entirely too much of work 😭
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
He enjoys giving and isn't bad at it by any means but you swear something very repressed and primal unveils itself when he locks eyes with you on your knees, mouth open, and doe-eyed. He tries to be gentle about it at least.
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
This can vary since he enjoys almost any pace as long as it's with you. With setting a pace he really keeps an eye out for what he thinks you'd prefer at the moment. I think there's always a point where he can't hold back but he strategizes around and prioritizes getting you off... depends on how much time you both have. But hey, if the pace happens to start out needy and desperate...
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
Not against a quickie, but as mentioned, defers to your mood on how to proceed. For him, the most likely scenario of needing a quickie (because he’d prefer to just be late or cancel whatever was cutting into your time) would be on campus; a taboo that he hates to admit actually excites him.
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
He's willing to experiment with you and anyone he's had an extended relationship with, but frankly speaking the limits of his own risk-taking imagination run fairly short (apart from speculating on what places you two could get away with hooking up.) But if you can show him something new, he's likely game (though, nothing super bloody or violent... just not his thing.)
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)
He blames it on getting older but, normally, twice in one go is maybe the best he can do. Definitely exceptions to this... say someone feels particularly giving, there's a special occasion (anniversaries, birthdays, coming back from an assignment, a nice date night), or maybe you two lucked out and have a whole weekend, unbusy and unbothered, together.
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
He seems like a very simple, no-frills guy. But if you have any favorites to bring to the table, that'd likely pique his interest.
U = Unfair (How much they like to tease)
Atsuya aims to please so his teasing (just light petting, groping, and sweet whispers) is typically relegated to foreplay. Beyond this, he likes to give you very simple, sometimes curt, directions to follow while he’s fucking you. He doesn’t fully restrict you (most of the time) or prevent you from chasing your high but he likes to put small roadblocks and rules to bargain on in your way:
“Hey, look at me. Don’t touch. I’ll do it if you look at me. Mmhmm… keep your eyes here. Good... Feel good? That what you wanted?”
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
Not loud, per-say, but does have a habit of moaning into your mouth, against your ear, or just against your body in general. Maybe he’s a little too shy to moan aloud and feels safer relinquishing these rare sounds to you only.
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)
Atsuya definitely has an oral fixation. He deeply misses smoking– especially a post-sex cigarette– but he doesn’t mind if you indulge. Actually, he really looks forward to seeing you have one. Over the years he’s wisened up to the fact that smoke deteriorates the body but he still finds something enticing about the act of sucking on death itself. Especially the way you do it (of course, he does want you to live a long, prosperous life…)
You always offer him a hit but he’s principled enough to look and not touch… he also keeps a few candies in a couple of different drawers around the house, so he’s covered. On the more current end of his oral fixation, he loves sharing lollipops with you. Even better when you steal a kiss with the candy caught between both your lips.
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)
Tanned shaft (that he loves feeling you squeeze against), darker pink tip (that he loves feeling you suck on), wonderful shape with a few prominent veins and an upward tilt. Girth-y and not unbearably long, but even when he's not hard there's a decent chub.
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
He would say he has a very unremarkably normal libido though you’d say otherwise. Again, he tries to reel back on PDA but when you’re both lounging around, cooking, doing chores around the house, getting dressed, and other regular daily activities he can get quite handsy and heart-eyed.
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Leaves a bit of space (let's say an hour... hour and thirty tops) for a sweet and short make-out, pillow-talk, and cleanup but otherwise ready to sleep like a swaddled baby and will most likely be the big spoon.

★ pass on ; remus lupin.
info: comfort, ghost!remus lupin x gn!reader, under 1k. warnings: ghosts, mention of dead body, amateur detective!reader lol.
Tumblr media
you live with a ghost, more specifically the ghost of one remus lupin.
if we're being completely honest, you're not even sure how you can see him, let alone live with the poor sod. he's sweet though, probably the sweetest man you've lived with, even if it's against both of your wills.
"what movie are we watching tonight, dovey?" he asks, hovering over the chipped wood of the apartment's floorboards.
he sits next to you on the sofa, limbs something akin to what a tangled mess with yours would look like. "hm, no movie tonight. maybe good omens, how does that sound?" you whisper, lazily curling into his side, well as best as you can manage, that is.
"sounds perfect. been meaning to re-watch season two by now," he hums in agreement, cheeks puffed out like a child as he exhales deeply.
"should we watch a season one refresher?" you ask with a cheeky grin and remus knows this smile all too well. it's more of a 'let's-rewatch-our-favorite-show-again-even-though-we-did-a-watchathon-weeks-ago' type of grin.
he snorts, shrugging. "not like i have much to do outside of the apartment anyways." he attempts to joke but it falls flat, his eyes drooping in disappointment at the remembrance of his ghostly being.
there's nothing that stops the frown from melding itself onto your lips, gazing up at him with an empathetic coo.
"we'll get a break in the case soon, rem." you whisper, tilting your head up to look at him with an assuring expression. you scramble to pause the intro that plays on the telly.
remus sighs, "i-i don't remember anything at all though. it's difficult to remember those last moments, let alone where my body is. maybe... we should give up, dove." his voice cracks slightly, as if about to cry but he quickly covers it up like he was clearing his throat.
"no, absolutely not. i'm not giving up on you, let alone stopping you from finally resting after all these years. you deserve it, remus." you urge, attempting to hold his hand but your very much alive body just glides right past his, your grimace matches his.
silence blankets over the apartment like a thick quilt, slightly suffocating yet so unbelievably warm that perhaps you wouldn't mind not leaving if it meant being this cozy with remus.
"i won't give up on you," you repeat.
remus catches your fixed look on him, crooked smile barely gracing his lips but hey, a smile nonetheless. "there's my rem..." you coo softly, watching as his cheeks turn a soft strawberry hue.
"i'll get you out of here," you assure him one last time.

So, awhile back, you mentioned that for your miraculous rewrite, you were considering turning some of the akumas into their villains, so out of curiosity which akumas do you think could works as their own villains?
Teeeechnically spoilers, though the fic isn't coming that soon and I guess this wouldn't really give away too many details and not everything is for sure...
Honestly, most of them, so far, are a handful of the season 1 akumas. I can't think of any akumas from s2 that stood out to me as potential villains to stand on their own, and I stopped watching around s3 so any akumas post s2 I either don't remember or just haven't seen.
Horrificator I'd vote to be a mythical creature, as in hindsight, it's kinda icky that the plus size girl is the only one with a monstrous akuma out of all girls (that I know of).
Tumblr media
So Horrificator instead may work better to be her own thing, and be an intro to other types of magic out there than just the Miraculous.
Darkblade I feel could've been his own thing, could've tied him to the Arthurian legends (maybe he has a corrupted Excalibur), or could've been tied to the Catacombs, which I don't think Miraculous has covered yet, and he could've had a magical sword that animates suits of armor. And if Chloe was to have an arc, could work off him targeting her family as he seeks to be the mayor.
Mime I could see possibility in being his own villain, the ability to mime could be it's own sort of magic and could be fun; but I do also think he was one of the better akumas in s1, having a good balance of being powerful but having limits, and a good set up for him becoming one. So he could go either way.
Pharaoh I'd lean being his own villain. Rewatching it recently, he was a very awkward akuma as he wasn't working off Jalil himself, he was like he was the actual pharaoh revived, talking about how he clashed with a Ladybug hero 5000 years ago and I'm like...
Tumblr media
Does this mean the Butterfly also has the power of letting old souls possess people in the present? Or is Jalil just LARPing as an akuma? Idk. It was just really awkward so he's be an akuma I'd vote to just go ahead and be his own thing. And it can work off classic mummies being enemies.
The last one off the top of my head is Volpina. I'm of the belief that Lila either should've come to Paris already having the Fox, or she did actually buy the Fox Miraculous from the jewelry store. This also goes in hand that I don't think Fu should've had 16-17 Miraculous with him (depending if you think he does have the Rabbit or not as that seems kinda up in the air). It actually makes much more sense that he lost more than just 2 or 3 given the chaos, and it better works off him sending out the very two Gabriel wanted if Fu had more limited options on what he could do.
This also could've had Volpina nicely reveal to the heroes that there are more Miraculous out there than the initial 3 they knew about. This also would've made Lila work more naturally as a threat if she had a Miraculous and was playing hero, competing with the other heroes for glory, and coming to side with Gabriel later. A lot better than her spending s2 sulking in her room.
There could be others, but off the top of my head, these are the major ones.

Hi, so I was rewatching Code Geass (I hope you know it? I assume you do, you seem to know everything) and it occured to me that Geass powers are very similar to PoE powers, so... what if instead of Apples there were Code Bearers (hopefully in some kind of stasis for a good portion of history)?
Because I would really like Eve to run around Renaissanse Italy (although she probably wouldn't mention just who she is before the Vault) and because Altair is absolutely the type to fully develop a Geass.
...yes, also because it would be funny if Desmond became immortal instead of dying.
I wanted to say that I don’t know everything, sometimes I check the wiki or tvtropes to help me get a grasp of the ask but, funnily enough, I do know Code Geass. Code Geass is one of the animes I watched when it first aired in Japan then rewatched the English dub to see how different it is (the English dub is so good, getting Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouch was such a top-tier choice). I should note that I only watched the two seasons and I could sorta remember the dating sim game, I didn’t watch the movies or Akito the Exiled. Oh, and I can barely remember Nightmare of Nunnally manga even though I did read a few chapters of it XD
In other words, we’re focusing on what was revealed in R2 about Code Bearers for this one XD
Now, let’s change it a bit. The Code Bearers are the Isus’ greatest achievement. They were meant to be the shepherds of the Isus’ slaves.
But Minerva screwed that up, giving them a sense of ‘self’.
To be companions.
But it was because of their sense of self that they grew to like the company of humans more than their masters.
And they revolted, using the very power granted to them by the Isus to ‘bless’ specific humans that led the charge.
The Isu-human war was not even between the Isus and the humans but between the Isus and the Code Bearers, hiding in the shadows and using the humans as their puppets, granting power to those that would later be known as Geass users.
Minerva had been spared from a death sentence by the very Code Bearer she had given a sense of ‘self’ to.
Her daughter…
Eve.
The Isus were killed. Those who were left alive were exiled or imprisoned, left to die a slow death.
Then…
The humans revolted.
Against the Geass users and their Code Bearers.
Minerva does not know why.
Perhaps one of users or the bearers had used their power selfishly.
Perhaps it is simply the nature of being with enough intelligence such as Isus, humans, and Code Bearers to turn against what they believe to be controlling them.
Minerva had been too busy…
Creating the last Code Bearer.
Her son.
The one that shall gift the most powerful Geass of all.
The Geass to control the very fabric of time.
.
The Code Bearers have dwindled in sizes and they have grown to distrust one another, believing that one of them or one of the Geass users they have gifted with the power of the Geass had betrayed them which led to the ‘witch hunts’.
This is why the Code Bearers try their best to remain in seclusion and to not change the trajectory of humanity.
Until…
Eve found Minerva’s final resting place.
An underground laboratory, half-destroyed thanks to an earthquake.
And that’s when she learned of her ‘little brother’, Minerva’s final Code Bearer.
Desmond.
And Eve sets out to find him.
.
Unknown to him…
Desmond isn’t exactly the typical Code Bearer.
Because Minerva figured the best way to create a Code Bearer that will not fall victim to the corrupting influence of their immortality and power is to change a human into a Code Bearer.
A human that had willingly sacrificed his life to save the world before.
So Minerva tweaked the timeline and captured Desmond Miles’ consciousness a second before his death and transferred it to the Code Bearer body she had prepared.
Desmond has no idea what Code Bearers are. He does know what a Geass is, the Assassins and Templars have been searching for Geass users for centuries.
He also know…
That the man who gave Altaïr his Geass was a man that looked too similar to him to be a coincidence.
A man…
… who looked exactly like Desmond.
(That’s right, this is going to be a closed loop where the Code Bearer who gave Altaïr his Geass is actually Desmond himself, having been given a Code Bearer body. Considering it’s Altaïr, it’s highly possible that he would even upgrade from being a Geass user to being a Code Bearer but there has only been one human to have ever done that… Eve’s Geass user… Adam… who disappeared a few weeks before the witch hunts begins)

Love the art!
Though I must know, why is Skybound your favorite season?
Reasons why Skybound is my favorite season.
It has stood up to the test of times, especially in my mind in the most unhealthy way possible.
It's the only season where it has STUCK to me since I was 6 and to this day it was only season that keep popping back up and the season where it pulled something in my child brain and the start of my spiral on thinking more fudged up Scenarios in my heads, alternate possibilities and more way to make the season even more messed up than it actually was and as a kid back then that watched cartoon 24/7 and watching that season of Ninjago felt fresh and something I couldn't properly understand back then and that uncertainty of what the fudge was happening made me eat up that season out of pure curiosity and need to understand what was happening, quickly spiraled into an obsession.
That even my child self became quickly aware of and never spoke of Ninjago ever again since and stopped watching but it NEVER made me stop thinking about Ninjago ever since then if I see a lego my brain would immediately think of Skybound and begin to delude myself that, that lego piece was Jay and my brain would spiral once again into my internal world of fanfics, and even when I finally first joined fandoms like undertale, mdzs etc. if I have enough time to myself, my brain would quickly turn to Skybound every chance it gets.
My obsession turned to annoyance but also began to turn to fondness once more and into acceptance, that I just accepted I will never escape Skybound, that the first ever fandom I ever joined wasn’t undertale but Lego Ninjago before I even understood what fandoms were. And Skybound will forever be stuck with me for the rest of my life just like how Jay's trauma from Skybound will forever be stuck with him for the rest of his life.
Nadakhan might've not succeeded in breaking Jay entirely, but definitely succeeded in making me give in and accept that I will never escape from Skybound in the 10 years that I been obsessed with it to an unhealthy degree but it will still forever hold a precious place in my heart, because I wouldn't be the self aware fudged up person that prefers fanfics over canon that I am today.
Thanks a lot Nadakhan :)
Also this is just the major reason why it's my favorite season. Because I have such a goldfish memory but Skybound has clung to my brain for so long that it can just become my favorite JUST because of pure resilience alone. Also because I've been fighting to forget about Ninjago but Skybound and my Brain said no so it's the season that takes the number 1 spot for me when it comes to Ninjago.
And I honestly wanna say more but also can't say more as to why It's my favorite. I feel like I need to rewatch the season after 10 years just to refresh my memory. And ask that question to myself. Just why?
And finally answer questions that my child self couldn't ask others out of fear of being too out of place and being teased and bullied for something I held strong feelings and passion towards back then and now I'm coming back to this now and of course my immediate thing that I do the moment I walk a back into this fandom is to go I went to Ao3, went to filter, and immediately typed in “Jay Walker” and “Nadakhan”
And God I never felt more happy reading fanfics of these two for the first time. In 10 years of my obsessions finally coming to fruition and I will EAT UP every skybound fanfic, headcanons etc. out there.
Also Skybound was the season that securely made Jay my favorite character. And yes I've also been obsessed with him for over 10 years ever since I first watched Lego Ninjago, like a fudging yandere that has no other reason to love their senpai just to be able FEEL something.
Wodnwkdnas I'm probably just spouting out pure nonsense, and an empty meaning and reasons as to why I love Skybound but, eh people love things for various of reasons so I might as well tell as to why since you asked, also gave me an opportunity to rant so… Thanks! ^^
Also here's a WIP for a Skybound Drawing I'll be doing, that'll maybe be posted in the future along with some of my personal Headcanon that's related to skybound, cause when you've been obsessing with a season for over 10 years without rewatching it and basing everything from you goldfish memory, make you think a lot, especially a lot of headcanons ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭

Voyager rewatch s2 ep1: The 37s
The first episode of season 2! I've always liked this one, and I still do. Is the concept of finding Amelia Earhart cryogenically frozen on a planet after being abducted by aliens a bit silly? Sure, but who doesn't want to see Captain Janeway meet Amelia Earhart? I sure do!
The scene where the crew investigates the truck they find floating in space is all kinds of adorable; impossibly brilliant science nerds from the future being mystified by a car is peak fish out of water comedy, and I laughed out loud when they all got scared of the car starting up. I don't think Star Trek gets enough credit for being funny, and they did a great job with this scene. We also got our first glimpse of Tom being a total nerd as he geeks out over the car, and I love to see it. It's such a relief when they let him be a relatable human person instead of trying to make him a bad boy, which ends up being cheesy at best, and cringe inducing at worst.
I think this episode was the first time Star Trek had ever landed a ship on a planet, which is really cool. Knowing that Voyager has secret little feet for landing on planets is so cute! The shots of the ship on the planet look great, I'm glad they filmed on location because it gives it more realism and a bigger scale. Whatever park they went to is maybe a little too Earth-looking though- you can see butterflies flying around behind the away team as they walk around lol. (But tbh, that's cute too!)
I love how it makes the ship scenes look when Voyager is parked on the planet- you can see sky outside the windows where the starfield usually is!! All the rooms are so brightly lit with the 'natural light' coming in, I didn't even recognize the Captain's ready room at first. The lighting being different changes the whole look of the ship, and makes the whole episode feel lighter and brighter. It's pretty much unique in Trek to see a starship in daylight, so that alone makes the episode a treat.
Tumblr media
On rewatch, the one thing that bothered me about it the first time around actually makes sense to me now. I used to think it was unrealistic that Amelia Earhart wouldn't choose to go with Voyager, since obviously she loves flying and adventure. But this time around, I realized that of course she'd choose to stay on the planet- if she went with Voyager, she'd never get to fly again. Presumably, the humans on this planet have aircraft she could fly around with and explore the planet with, which is what she really loves to do. In the part where Tom shows her Voyager's helm, it's clear she realizes that what he knows as piloting is entirely different from what she knows- Voyager flies billions of miles per second through dark, silent space. Amelia Earhart knows flying as seeing the sky around you and the ground below you and feeling the rattle of engines and air currents around you. She couldn't ever have that on Voyager, and she wouldn't even be the pilot if she went with them- they already have Tom, and she'd have a nearly impossible task trying to learn 24th technology well enough to helm a starship. It actually makes more sense for her to stay.
(And I'm just noticing for the first time in my entire life that Tom sits on a rolling chair at his console, lmao. Every other chair on the bridge of a starship is attached to the floor, and people are still falling out of them and cracking their skulls open and dying every other space battle. So not only do they not have seatbelts (apparently OSHA doesn't exist in the 24th century lol) but they have an essential bridge officer in the most unstable type of chair ever invented. How did he not die?! I guess maybe we're meant to infer that it's on a track or a magnet or something to anchor it to the floor and keep it from rolling across the bridge all the time, since you can see in one shot that the wheeled part is covered up with a metallic disc, but still. Even in real life, how did they keep it from rolling around on set?? I have so many questions lol.)
The scene with Janeway and Chakotay expecting to see crewmembers lined up to stay on the planet, only to walk into the empty cargo bay, actually kinda got to me. I was a little misty eyed, I'll admit. I knew it was coming, but it's just so lovely, and gosh, Kate Mulgrew sells it. I love that she lets Janeway wear her heart on her sleeve; it never once undercuts the aura of authority she has as captain, but it does make you feel for her and understand her as a person. So, so good.
Tl;dr: I love this episode. It's fun, it's different, it's funny, it's sweet, it's the heartwarming comfort food kind of Star Trek that I am here for!

mike's monologue was built on guilt...
[disclaimer: i know i'm not discovering the wheel here. most of what can be said about byler has already been said by so many people before me so none of this is new. i've personally haven't read a post addressing this but i am sure there must be tons of them i haven't run into yet. all this to say, i wanna give my personal opinion on mike's monologue based on my rewatch of season 4 but in no way i'm pretending to be the first one to have noticed this. okay, that being said...]
mike feels so much guilt during season 4 it's actually sad.
so, we all know one of mike's biggest conflicts is how he understands the love others give to him. for mike, that love is tied to conditions he has to meet in order to keep. to keep it short and simple, we know mike feels the need to be needed in order to be loved, and this specially reflects on his relationship with el since that's how they dynamic started from the very beginning. el had no one and mike took her in. el became dependent on mike and under those circumstances, they became friends and then were nudged into a romantic relationship. then in season three we see how el is growing out of that first dynamic by becoming more independent and getting to know herself outside of mike and hopper and every other male who has had something to say about her life. that independence causes issues in mike and el's relationship because it's a type of dynamic they haven't experienced before and if el who is so cool and powerful, a superhero, doesn't need mike then there's no reason why she would want to stick around at all (remember that tied to mike's misconception of love is also his fear of losing people).
entering season 4, mike finds out el has been lying to him about his life in lenora and i think that's the first bead of guilt that drops on him. after seeing the abuse el suffers in rink-oh-mania, mike understands that el has been needing someone and yet she chose not to come to him. now, this isn't something mike holds against el mostly, but i think it's something that hits him hard in the sense of even when el was needing someone she decided to not seek mike for help.
then, when they have their fight where el confronts him for never saying he loves her anymore, mike still doesn't say it and instead deflects the responsibility to others. then the moment is over, el is taken away and when mike runs after her to say he will fix it and that el just needs to trust him, el doesn't really look at him. she looks defeated and tired.
when el is taken by owens' personnel and mike reads el's letter, that's when the rest of the guilt settles in. we get verbal confirmation of this when mike opens up to will in episode four during their first heart to heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
mike knows what that thing he should've said was. of course he knows! el spelled it for him and he still didn't say it. so here, we have mike wondering if el would've needed him still, would've wanted him around if he had only said what she was asking of him. if he had, then el wouldn't be alone right now. he would be around to help and keep her safe.
guilt.
here, though, unless you read between the lines, maybe it's not so clear whether mike wanted to say that thing and simply wasn't ready to or not.
the scene in the car graveyard, though, it's pretty damning in my opinion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
what is interesting to me here is that before mike told will "if i had said that thing..." so we know he knows what he should've said. and still, here mike goes "i didn't know what to say."
clearly mike doesn't mean it in the literal sense. again, he knows what el was asking of him, he knows what she needed and wanted to hear, so the way i read this is that even while knowing what she wanted, mike still didn't know what to say because the words he could offer weren't the ones el was asking for. i didn't know what to say as in i didn't know what to say that was truthful and that could help el at the same time, which makes feel mike even more guilty because once more he couldn't be what el needed him to be.
that thought is confirmed with what will says next.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hard to say how you really feel because what if they don't like the truth. and mike nods at these words because he agrees with them.
now, it makes no sense at all if what mike is so scared to say was "i love you" like he said later in the season. it just doesn't. mike agrees to be afraid of expressing how he truly feels in case they (el) doesn't like that truth, but mike knows exactly el wants to hear mike loves her. mike disguises it later as in saying he was scared of losing el and by telling her he loves her he would lose her or something? but he is actively losing her by not saying how he feels! and then, at the pizza place, he still hesitates! he still needs a push to say i love you even when he knows that's what el needs of him and that by not saying it he risked losing el forever. why. does. he. still. hesitate. then.
makes no sense. unless, mike doesn't want to say i love you because he can't because that's not what he feels for el, and that fills him with guilt and with the fear of losing el because he can't be what she needs. so, with the guilt and with the fear of losing el and with will's nudges in the wrong direction, mike monologue happens.
and mike... kinda overdoes it by saying a bunch of things that we know aren't things el needs or wants to hear because she doesn't want to be a superhero anymore, even with her powers back. and mike also starts saying i love you over and over again, after not being able to even write it. that reminds me of this post i once saw of how when you keep repeating a word over and over again, it becomes meaningless and how it even stops sounding like a word. it's just sounds coming out of your mouth. hmmmmm...
anyhow, to end this post i just have to say: mike is dealing with a whole lot of guilt during this season because of his conflictive feelings, the ones he lacks towards his girlfriends and the ones that keep surfacing for his best friend, and when the moment life or death comes, mike (in good old mike fashion) decides to sacrifice his own feelings for the sake of helping and saving el, being what she needs him to be so he doesn't lose her

I finished watching my rewatch of Never Have I Ever right in time for season 4 (the last season) of Sex Education, which I just finished watching a few hours ago.
Anyway, I'm just going to brain vomit a bunch of my thoughts, so if you disagree, please do so politely (because fandoms genuinely terrify me sometimes):
Maeve and Otis deserved the Ben and Devi treatment. No, I don't mean that they should have ended up together. Breaking up was the right thing for Otis and Maeve. And I really loved the way it was written, and Maeve's letter to Otis. But Ben and Devi's very special connection was emphasised throughout all four seasons, but I feel like they stopped doing that for Maeve and Otis somewhere along the way (though there were still some very nice scenes). But also, I have to say that in season 1, Maeve and Otis were the BEST (and I have never stopped shipping them simply because of how much I loved them back then). They were my favourite fictional ship ever, back then. I would have been obsessed with them, like I ended up being with Ben and Devi, if they'd stayed that way.
Paxton and Devi deserved the Ruby and Otis treatment. I'm just saying that because more pining is always fun for me. Of course, I wouldn't want Devi to treat Paxton like Otis treated Ruby in the last season, though. Also, I think Ruby was interesting enough that she deserved more space for her individual arc, like Paxton got.
The friendships on Sex Education are chef's kiss. None of the friendships on Never Have I Ever have ever made me feel as much. For me, Ben and Devi's dynamic outshone Devi, Eleanor, and Fabiola's dynamic. But the dynamic between Maeve and Otis eventually ended up being outshone by Maeve and Amy's friendship, in my opinion (and there were several other beautiful friendships portrayed on the show).
I think both shows do portray parent-child relationships quite well, but Nalini and Devi's relationship is my favourite.
I know a lot of people think Sex Education has too many characters, but I will say that I actually ended up interested in all of the characters. I don't think I am as interested in the side characters of Never Have I Ever.
Aimee reminds me a little of Trent, but I like her much better.
Ruby reminds me a little of both Ben and Devi (and Paxton, I suppose).
I wonder what types of conversations Ben and Maeve could have about how their parent-related abandonment issues have made them not feel good enough and have affected their relationships with other people in general, in a hypothetical crossover. It would also be interesting to see the contrast between Maeve's grief over thr death of a parent she both loved and hated, and Devi's grief over the death of a parent she practically worshipped.
Eric exploring his relationship with God as a gay man made me wonder how it would have been if they had done something similar with Aneesa.
Both shows are groundbreaking in different ways.

Rebels Rewatch: "An Inside Man"
The beginning of my endless stressed paranoia about Thrawn, also obvious reveal is obvious.
I expect this recap to be pretty breezy, I've already liveblogged this episode once.
Hoo boy I cannot tell you the amount of tension there was before this episode. The TV adverts were packaging the footage from both this and "Visions And Voices" together in order to hype up the midseason closer, before the show went on break for the winter.
So you know, the hype was real.
Let's get into it.
[EDIT: Oh screw you, Tumblr, that was a whole forty minutes of work that you just ate, this is ridiculous.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right, so that's not subtle at all.
Tumblr media
In addition to leaning heavily into the "Axis-occupied territory in WWII" aesthetic, the smog around Capital City is so much thicker, practically a new ozone layer, ammonia yellow in color. That is not sunset that is the city lights bouncing off the cloud of pollution wafting through their streets.
I haven't mentioned it before but Taylor Gray sometimes has this way of pronouncing the word "my" that gives Ezra just a little bit more of a "folksy" drawl, fitting for an Outer Rim farming planet. I do love how you can kind of "geolocate" where different characters come from by how they talk. High British or Imperial British accent? Core World. Southern American drawl? Outer Rim.
Now imagine Pryce with an accent like Ezra's and remember that every time she speaks she's totally faking her Core World accent. XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks a bit like downtown LA, frankly. Minus the skyscrapers.
Yeah no, still love this shot Ezra pulls off while balancing precariously on the speeder engine. Such skill. Much badass.
The Kanan-Ezra tag team against the walker is great too.
Oh! Just noticed the non-fanfare titlecard has a bit of the dark male chorus from Thrawn's theme. Nice.
Something nice to note, the show does multiple chase sequences on this highway and none of them feel identical to each other. They're all uniquely staged.
I rewatched a couple times and the second speeder was actually taken out by debris from the first, bouncing forward and ricocheting off something.
Fitting right in with the WWII theme, internal saboteurs at the Imperial factories is very French Resistance. I honestly didn't expect to see the Sumars again so this was a pleasant surprise. Also a bit sad now, considering what happens.
*whispers* They paralleled Mr. Sumar's first conversation with Ezra.
This attack on Lothal's factories has been in the planning for a while now, since Season Two at least I think. Even though we were driven off Lothal, it's never been far from mind, and we've been constantly trying to get back there to liberate it. To Phoenix Cell and the Alliance it's a matter of strategy, of crippling or slowing down the Empire's war machine, but for the Spectres, for Ezra, it's personal, and it's been their focus from the very beginning. (Mostly. Ezra does get sidetracked with his obsession of personally destroying the Sith. More to meta ramble about that later when we get to "Twin Suns".)
Ha ha I remember when we all thought that the "new type of weapon" being referenced here was the Death Star. And personally, as I've said before, I still think Lothal was heavily involved in the Death Star's construction, that process was spread out across multiple Outer Rim worlds, resources and materials gathered from all over the place to keep it secret.
But once they introduced Thrawn they kind of had to give him a personal connection to Lothal, too. His rivalry with Hera wouldn't have cut it, that can play out anywhere, in any theater. (Hera's own stake in Lothal is also tenuous, generic, halfway between Ezra's personal drive and the Alliance's practical strategic considerations.) His being there at Pryce's bequest to help quell the Rebellion there offers no personal incentive outside of serving the Empire. But putting him in charge of the TIE Defender's development is perfect, in-character and easy to fit into what had already been established about Lothal, that it was a primary location where new TIEs were being produced.
Recall that Thrawn is not opposed to the Empire's tyrannical authoritarianism but he does think it's often ineffective. Advocating for the development of superior starfighters is right up his alley. If Thrawn had had his way or Palpatine had listened to him more, the resources, materials, and labor pooled into the showy but money-guzzling Death Star would have gone instead to bolstering the Empire's naval superiority, into better faster starfighters, more Inderdictors, and more capital ships like the Super Star Destroyers. Things to counteract the Alliance's flashbang hit and run tactics.
And the Rebellion probably would have lost.
So yeah, giving Thrawn a pet project specialized TIE fighter to be developed and constructed on Lothal was the perfect narrative decision.
...I went way off into the weeds there didn't l? Lol. Where was I?
Right, infiltrating the factory.
Love when Mr. Sumar asks Ezra if has any manufacturing experience and when he admits no, Ryder laughs and says he'll fit right in. Commie-style forced labor gang-pressing yaaaaaay!
Tumblr media
Once again, the imagery is very deliberate and not at all subtle.
Ezra grew up on Lothal and he doesn't know who Pryce is on sight. This bitch been shirking her planetary governing duties for literal years, busy trying to be "hip and in with the cool kids" as it were, the perfect Imperial suck-up and sycophant.
A large part of Thrawn's effectiveness as a villain in Rebels is that you never quite know just how much he knows at any given time. Was his coming to the factories to inspect them just an unlucky coincidence or did he know Kanan and Ezra were going to be there? Is he just Dangerously Genre Savvy? How does he keep turning up in places right when the Rebels have made their move? It stressed me the crap out when I was originally watching, gave me hella Paranoia Fuel, and made his presence in every scene just that much more uncomfortable.
Tumblr media
Like right here, with this scene where they linger just long enough on Thrawn observing the disguised Ezra to make you nervous, and the feeling lingers even though he steps away, because you almost think he picks Sumar out of the line-up because Ezra's there, targeting him for execution (basically) in order to flush Ezra out.
Also, btw, love the menacing cellos that accompany Thrawn's footsteps into frame.
The absolute slow dread and dramatic irony of this whole scene. D: It just builds and builds and then explodes (literally and figuratively), Thrawn's theme coming in full strength to emphasize the horror of the moment.
See, Thrawn's not above Make An Example Of Them when he thinks it's effective. (See also having Rukh behead that one officer in Legends canon.)
Lyste, you really should start questioning when Imperial astromech droids act crazy randomly around you lol.
It's a smidge distractingly fortuitous that there's always a convenient Scout Trooper around for Ezra to steal the armor off of.
This scene between Pryce, Kallus, and Thrawn is like some kind soothing British ASMR, everyone's voices are just so calm and smooth.
Tumblr media
Ooof, Thrawn's rare displays of emotion are always a big deal, I flinched just from this tiny flash of anger.
Something else effective about Thrawn's presence is just how much more competent other Imperials start acting when he's around. Not officers like Lyste or Konstantine but the low-level grunts always seem more keen to cop on to things, just a bit smarter and more ruthless, when Thrawn's in an episode, like he brings them up to more rigorous standards of performance just by being there.
Probably why Pryce immediately falls apart and makes stupid impulsive decisions as soon as he's more than thirty feet away from her lol.
Tumblr media
So there's Sabine's wall graffiti, already pulled off the building, I think that painting is from TCW, there's Ezra cadet picture, the mosaic from the Syndulla house, and a bunch of ancient Loth-cave scribblings.
I suspect Thrawn grabbed the retaining wall for the starbird (incidentally getting the Loth-cat drawing he'd later use to identify Sabine's work on Ezra's helmet in "Through Imperial Eyes"), and the cave paintings, obviously, because ancient Lothal culture.
Once again, Thrawn's deductions are razor sharp, but not OP. He's noticed the Phoenix cell has a particular attachment to Lothal, thus they will inevitably try to return to it.
Slowed down and replayed Kallus revealing himself a couple times just to look at this fight, Kanan starts by elbowing Kallus straight in the collar. Kallus reflexively throws a punch which gets pushed aside by Ezra. Kallus almost kitten bats the two of them before Kanan pins him to the wall.
Still LOVE how utterly flabbergasted Kanan and Ezra are at the reveal and how much grief they continue to give him after it lol.
Subtle animation appreciation moment: Kallus gives his very slight double-take at Kanan when Kanan pulls off his helmet, like he's surprised to see the scarring across his eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Living for how much Ezra just casually bullies Kallus here. <3
"Or perhaps... an expected one." Lol nope, I can safely assure you, Thrawn, they did NOT expect Kallus to be Fulcrum.
Case in point about Thrawn's mere presence making everyone else more competent, the AT-AT pilots immediately question the AT-DP's presence.
This was really clever, having Ezra drive the chicken walker behind the AT-AT and use it for cover. I may have mentioned but it bears repeating.
Tumblr media
MONEY SHOT.
Tumblr media
Back when the show was airing and people were speculating about eventual defeats for Thrawn I think I was one of the very small number of people rooting for Marida Sumar to get to shoot him in the face.
Still want that AU.
TIE Defenders be no joke, people. They are fast, agile, shielded, and they have hyperdrives. They would have shredded the best the Alliance had.
Tumblr media
Still love Zeb's chagrined grimace in the background there.
Ngl, once again, the ambiguity of "Just how much does Thrawn know?" is scarily effective. Thrawn's addressing Kallus seems deliberately calculated, like he's making some kind of subtle threat.
And whew!
After the shaky quality of the last episode this return to form is quite a relief. The tension is tightly wound and palpable throughout, and there's a genuine sense of danger. Thrawn is placidly competent. We suffer an actual loss. Everything is pretty much excellent this episode, even without the benefit of seeing Kallus's turn we believe it.
Love rewatching this one. <3

I’m rewatching there seasons and I’m wondering if Troy did go with the purpose of killing Mike, what’s your opinion?
Oh god, the Mike thing!!! I'm still not sure I have cracked that one yet haha (and it's been years XD) Forever salty we did not actually get to see what happened (they always tell us Troy is bad but they never really show us. what's that about, hmm? can't really go there...?) what I wouldn't give to see it…
Anyway, to the actual question: I don't think Troy went with the purpose to kill Mike, I believe he tells the truth when he explains himself later, namely, that he wanted to talk to Mike. He does seem pretty torn up about Mike leaving in that one scene with Madison in the pantry, where he talks about his feelings (before he goes out to confront him).
Tumblr media
(Also notice how in this scene he's trying to open up/connect emotionally to Madison and how she only engages in as much as it leads the conversation towards her goals. when he goes "hard to know how to react to something like that" that's the heart of it, to him. What's got him confused, what he needs to understand. He's in essence asking for help there, for her to make sense of it or help him make sense of it and instead of doing any of that Madison goes "make sure no one else leaves" which is exactly her goal. bc if people leave the ranch, chances of winning the war are lower (or nonexistent if enough people leave)) Also, I fully believe, if he'd have planned to go out to kill mike he would've cleaned up his mess better. He's a lot of things but definitely not stupid. And you see how oh shit he is about being found out when Madison comes back with the bodies.
Tumblr media
You also see that he is unhappy with himself in that talk they have shortly after - in which he tells her his reasons for going after them.
Tumblr media
Namely, because he felt Mike owed it to him to tell him to his face (that their friendship was over). Which I also find believable. My reasoning is that in the already referenced pantry scene, he did voice his confusion over mike leaving pretty clearly. He really wanted, no, needed to know (I think that may be one of his driving forces btw, the need to know, I know no one asked me that but how can I pass up that opportunity to point it out XD). And then Madison goes "He didn't want to do that, did he?" And Troy shakes his head no, so… he must've tried to talk to Mike, to know that Mike refused to do what he asked of him.
Anyway, so yes, I don't believe he wanted to do this.
I do, however, believe that he knew it was a bad idea to follow the Trimbols. A part of him did suspect it could go out of hand - that things could go badly (he knows he has trouble keeping control when angry, I'm sure). I don't think he wanted it to go there, though. And I also don't think he felt like he could've stopped himself from going after them, again, because of his need to know (that probably feels overwhelming at times).
Thank you for the question and giving me opportunity to talk about this Mike thing!! I also had a whole thing already typed about how I tried to make sense of the scene of the crime, reconstruct what happened there, but honestly it was so rambly (and also not really part of your question) I just got rid of it hahahah
I do hope you find my answer satisfying and otherwise I'm always down for discussing things further (or for other folks to jump in and correct me/offer their own perspective)! Have a great day, nonny 🧡

Wow... 1 year filming. We are legit screwed but at least we might get new content or leaks, idk. Like idk abt you guys but i cannot wait another 2 years.
For me the first year of hiatus flew by. Vol 1 came out already about a year ago approx.? I feel like the same is going to apply to the next year.
And by that point filming will be wrapping up and s5 promo will finally start getting more ramped up. We could have a few tiny cryptic teasers by then, some episode titles. And who knows about the set/costume leak prospects...
I talked about this already, but the months leading up to it are filled with content dropping and it grows exponentially over time.
This time around will be unmatched too bc I think fans actually have a lot to go off of, more than we ever have with previous seasons. With s2-4 we were shooting in the dark. But now with s5 there's so much from s4 unaddressed that it's guaranteed to be re-addressed and so much was foreshadowed that fans have very likely predicted at least a few of the surprises (*cough* byler *cough*).
And so imagine promo that is proving/disproving a bunch of iconic theories, and experiencing that real time. Imagine smalltown boy or like lettergate being confirmed in a mere 10 second sneak peak? Cryptic instances like that along the way are the best!
We're going to be getting a lot of validation too during this time bc the Duffers will definitely want fans to go back and rewatch to be capable of appreciating whats to come for what it truly is, despite misunderstanding up to this point. I think as we get closer, they won't outright say things for certain, however, they are most definitely going to start blatantly alluding to the fact that they are smart and everything is in fact intentional. And so if we doubted them, that's our own fault, since the answers are right in front of us. Did you see all the s2 references we put in s4? Do you really think we forgot Will's birthday? type vibes without them outright saying that though.
Technically even though it could be premiering in early 2025, it's gonna feel like it's premiering in summer/fall 2024 regardless bc promo will be so fucking hot at that point that it might as well be out already. It'll a long festivity for sure. Right now we're in early hiatus, which sucks when you're in it. What we get to hope for within the next year is hints from the writers and if we get another dna board with upwards of 100 films, we might have a lot of work on our hands anyways. These ppl are out here giving us reading assignments and we are gladly going along with it. But that's not for everyone necissarily so if some people want to bow out for a year or so, I wouldn't blame them regardless.
Late hiatus right before release is where it's at, and that's honestly a lot closer than we think! It will start getting more serious next summer, so get hyped bc that's just as exciting to look forward to as the end itself!

i warched good omens season 2
i have a lot to say that doesn't really amount to anything so i'm gonna start typing at random
i liked the romantic vibe of the season and all the cute flashbacks. the dialogue between the leads was appropriately trusting and sweet. they really leaned into showing how they rely on each other. i also like that the conflict was pretty small in scale compared to season 1. it's not armageddon, but there were still some stakes if you include all the humans that almost died. although.... heaven and hell seem to know exactly where crowley and aziraphale are... yes, they fooled them at the end of s1, but wouldn't they idk. try other means? why didn't they get their names erased from the book of life earlier if that was something higher up angels could do? whatever
i like that there were real actual gay characters (lesbians even! who looked like real people!) even though I was worried they were getting together too fast, the reveal towards the end that they were going to move slow felt realistic. but them having to talk crowley into confessing his feelings felt ripped straight from a fanfiction. the lesbians comparing themselves to aziraphale and crowley was a bit on the nose. many moments did in fact feel like fanfiction. the dancing together, the "I need you!", the "We can just be us." all of that was cute and probably something i would've written idk could you do any better??? i am not immune to fluff. but also, that's a grown man. does it not take agency away from the character to have his relationship explained to him? and then they had the gall to not even show us this conversation. ideally he would've come to a conclusion about his feelings on his own-- perhaps after seeing gabe and beez fuck off to alpha centauri and going huh. i guess you can just do that. or even just through way of flashback-- oh no wait. all of the flashbacks were from aziraphale's point of view for some reason. why didn't azi get any realizations? you know michael sheen would've ate
the "i was wrong dance" well here's the thing i did clap
I thought the set of the street in london with all the little shops looked nice although there were always so so many extras walking around. is london really that crowded?
i thought they kind of wasted muriel's character. she seems to disappear for a long time before the plot calls for her to conveniently be there. i know she's meant to be a bit dim but surely she noticed 70 demons walking down the street.... ALSO i thought the book crowley handed her was going to be good omens but it. was not
looooved shax loved new beelzebub. who else. idk everyone was really giving it their all. megatron showed up for all of two episodes i think but was pivotal for the ending. what are you doing neil. gabriel is also doing. things. they wasted jon hamm as well by making him a frustrating himbo. one of the only scenes i liked with him was crowley yelling at him for trying to kill aziraphale in s1 and then trying to jump out a window and then calling crowley nice. but that whole bit felt more like a crowley scene than a gabe scene. he does get a mug with his name on it tho and hypocritically falls in love with the fly lady so all is forgiven.
i'm gonna be real with you all.. the way they filmed the kiss felt awkward. the way the camera swings around and crowley grabs him felt very....... rehearsed? a little unnatural, i think. the way crowley LUNGES. idk i need to rewatch the last ten minutes again. and it went on so long. we got like three of four angles on it like whoah. but the reaction face we got out of michael sheen. mamma mia
"I forgive you." asdejgkasdgahdgdfs when i say i paused the ep for extended laughter lmfaoooooo. clutching a wine bottle to my chest and cheering. this fucken guy. babygirl is distraught for all of about ten seconds before it's time to start the new job. i did start yelling at my screen after that point. he had no right to look crowley dead in the eye across the street and not run back to him. COWARRD. i understand why he did it but COWARD. why, after sooo long, would you think crowley would jump for joy to be an angel again... i watched all eight minutes of the credits certain that there was going to be more but nope. catch ya next time for the second coming (of jesus?? <- does not know things about the bible)
so i was pretty satisfied with that watch. i wish the season was longer than 6 episodes but tbh they had to make this story from nothing and it shows in the romcom hijinks and threadbare mystery. but it was fun and went by quickly. then i check on the fandom and they're, get this, upset for some reason about this ending. there's no pleasing some fans i guess. good job neil you've pissed off the people who wanted them to kiss AND the people who didn't want them to kiss, bravo! hopefully in a month or so everyone will cool down about it. and if not well. plenty of fanfic fodder until season 3. not that i read good omens fanfic, but it'll be there. just be happy there was a kiss alright!!!!!!?!!!1
(i just know we're going to get a flood of people calling aziraphale a big meanie and crowley a poor little scrimbly blimbo meow meow who got rejected. booooo stop that right now)

i am very ~intrigued~ by 1899 but i'm trying to decide whether the emotional devastation of not getting a satisfying ending will outweigh the joy of watching the show itself. do you think it's worth it to start it knowing it (probably) won't ever be finished?
Oof, this is a tough one - it depends on your own metric for emotional devastation, I think? Biggest YMMV in the world. Let me try and paint a picture without too many spoilers..
So, for me, while i was very annoyed at no renewal, but i wouldn't say i was the specific kind of devastated you get at an overt and unresolved network TV 'who got shot' cliffhanger? Like, spoiler-free, it does end in the way a serial story 'ends' with a Holy Shit What's Next, and not in the way a movie 'ends' with a sunset ride or whatever: it's an explicit set-up for anticipated future activity (which we'll not now ever see), HOWEVER my own feelings towards it have allowed me to start a rewatch, as opposed to rage-quitting. In my mind, any of the things i hoped for in Season 2 or 3 are still on the table, in a strange way. They won't be shown to me visually, but they're not prevented by the narrative as it exists now, and where/how it stopped. They're just out there, in the ether. I have no need for fix-it fic for the way it ended, but rather 'what-next-fic'.
It's not a spoiler to say it's sci-fi, rather than just a costume drama, but I feel it has things in common with the way Westworld HBO used to end its seasons - they were always flexible enough to act as series finales if needed. Like, they would always end on a note of 'Gasp! and what NEXT!', but also if they happened to get cancelled and stop there at the point of Dolores gaining sentience, or the hosts escaping the park, even though you'd still be hanging out for 'but goddamn i WANT to know what next', and yet it would kind of feel resolved in a way also? Something had still been achieved in each season finale, and the next season set up was laid before you, on a note of 'now what??'
Idk, I never fully watched Lost, but I feel like people got into that show in 2 ways: some folks were obsessed with the puzzle, and had to know The Exact Meaning of each weird thing and needed Answers and a sense of Guessing And Winning to feel satisfied in the show. Other folks simply became fixated on the personal dynamics, and really commited to how each characater gradually revealed more about the kind of person they were, and how they relate to each other within the specific weird boundaries of the story. You'll enjoy 1899 if you're along for the ride re: the second type, but if you're the first type, and have to Know, and value things like 'canon', it'll bug you, probably.
Like, this is possibly my own tendency to make lemonade out of shitty, bitter, network cancellation lemons, but i approach it as one very long Twilight Zone story - it ends in a way that is an Unresolved Resolution. Something was ultimately achieved, and then gently set down without following on. Like short story chock full of 'what ifs and what nexts', it presents them to you, but ultimately leaves them unexplored in full.
In this show, Hercule Poirot is never going to come out and explain it all to our full satisfaction, but if Rod Serling came out and and said 'wow did you see that! that was messed up! anyway, this has been the Twilight Zone', that wouldn't be out of place. It Ends without ending.

                                         GET  TO  KNOW  THE  MUN
Tumblr media
𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐮𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 ?
uh well...i've definitely rambled about it in the past but most of my muses (basically all of the main ones except Aurelius) are all more or less aus of my first muse on here, Joel that became more than own dudes than just "joel in a different universe" so they became their own muses unto themselves. for Joel? he came about around 5 years ago when i stumbled onto the t.wewy rpc and so i made this blog and Joel!
𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 ?
i mean besides the general kinda ick inducing topics there's not really that much else. combat/fighing based threads probably? but that's more because i'm not that great at/confident with writing those and ik i can get kinda "don't look at me" when it comes to posting types of writing/threads/etc im not confident in
𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 ?
a lot of things really! i always have a soft spot for fluff, goofy/silly/moe playful things are always fun, when u get some good angst going it's just chef's kiss. what i'm personally really enjoying writing changes from time to time but idk, there's a lot i have fun writing!
𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐮𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬 ?
i more or less play things by ear with headcanons, sometimes, with more fandom based muses (ex. Koko) it might come from some realization i had about some aspect of the universe they're from or a headcanon will form out of rambling about my boys to a moot over disc.ord or smth, or i'll get an idea that i end up building on from something i'm watching/listening to regardless headcanons kinda just sneak up on me ig
𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 ?
music 100% i find i struggle to focus even moreso without something in the background so it's normally music and/or a podcast/some other long form video i'm prolly rewatching
𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 ?
i very much wing it most of the time, i tend to get sdetracked real bad when i try to plan things out proper so 9 times outta 10 replies are me winging it and letting my muses take the wheel.
𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 ?
yes, always! not just romantic, familial and platonic ships are always great when they happen oooh, ooh! and like...hateships and the like...i've really only ever had one but that was fun

Note
“the moment” for scully was memento mori (though she kind of knew in never again). and mulder has two: when he knew (3) and when he couldn’t ignore it anymore (fight the future)
to ME!!!!!
i had a whole thing typed out and my phone glITCHED.
me saying ~oh idk what i think~ when i have well & truly stated cancer arc & when scully was abducted lmao
i think you're so right. memento mori with scully's journal to mulder, like her emails in season 9. and she's so silly as if she wasn't hopeless from the pilot but. she really just liked mulder & believed in him. she loved challenging him and being in the field with him and seeing the world through his eyes and that was enough. it took her four years & cancer & "i wouldn't change a day" & "not everything is about you, mulder. this is my life" & "i've got things to finish" (and most of those things are mulder)
i just love that you pinpoint 3 because that's one of those episodes i don't like rewatching. i love it for what it is and all things you've talked about, but i particularly love seeing it though your eyes. and after 3, he just keeps trying to get her back & having nowhere to start and then she's returned. he screams & yells at the world & wants anyone to punish for what was done to her but he gives up the chance for "justice" to sit with her & make sure she knows he's there & her life is waiting for her & she's the most important.
