Yes, Galby is a dramatic whore but at least he didn't welcome Eragon into his palace by clapping his hands and showering rose petals from the fucking ceiling.
Right, Islanzadì?

This kind of dialogue is how I imagine people lying to, or rather deceiving, one another in the Ancient Language. A criminal lack of this kind of doublespeak in elvish politics tbh.
Explanation: Palpatine had a world bombarded from orbit to destroy a bunch of cloning facilities to replace the clone soldiers with other troops, but the ships got filmed doing it. This is him turning the tables and getting what he wants. How it'd work in the Ancient Language:
"I am deeply troubled by this recent revelation." statement of fact, he's troubled it got leaked rather than by it's existence though.
"My gratitude to Senator (however you spell it) for exposing a rogue element within our ranks." he's happy she and her allies outed themselves.
"Many lives have been lost. But I assure you, Admiral Rampart will face the consequences for his treachery. However, he did not act alone." statement of fact, statement of fact, statement of fact.
"The fact that the clones under his command so blindly follow orders, inflicting such carnage without hesitation, gives me pause." possibly why he wanted to get rid of them in the first place, and otherwise he might have just been surprised by how effective the indoctrination (and in that canon, brain-chips) was.
"Perhaps... it is time for a change." perhaps, then again, perhaps not :)
I imagine this is how Galbatorix convinced the Forsworn to side with him as well; pick out people seething over real or imagined slights and go Palpatine them. It's also what I expected from how people hyped up the elves as these masters of wordplay in book 1 and early book 2.

How the IC characters would handle being sick, as I’m Day 2 into fighting Covid:
Eragon: literal embodiment of 🥺🤒. Very needy, spends 98% of time cuddled against Saphira. Does not handle being sick well, cranky af if he has to do anything other than rest.
Saphira: Deny, deny, deny. “I can’t get sick! What are you talking about?” Strong, suffer-in-silence type because only weak people get sick. Hmph. How dare you suggest such a thing.
Arya: Could be dying, on fire, and wouldn’t show it in the slightest. Gil’ead was much worse. She’d be out fighting a war, making human men cry while she has fever-bright eyes and is semi-conscious.
Islanzadi: kinda like Arya, but more prone to irritability. The “but I don’t FEEL WELL” slips through her facade a little more.
Roran: Feels like shit, but doesn’t let it stop him in doing what he needs. Will complain to Katrina, but otherwise he refuses to admit to being ill at all.
Katrina: Very prim and proper, not -so-secretly enjoys having Roran fuss over her for once.
Glaedr: Like Saphira, but with additional male angst.
Oromis: “I guess this is how it is.” Proceeds to sit quietly, sipping tea, and reflecting on the interconnectedness of life.
Nasuada: Does not let illness stop her, refuses to show weakness, and often works to the point of fainting. Pretty much normal Nasuada, haha.
Elva: oh she angy. RUN.
Any and all shades: dramatic babes. Throw themselves, draped across a loveseat, wearing a silk robe and whining CONSTANTLY.
Galby: STAY AWAY, for the love of all that is good-! You do NOT want to cross him in this state.
Tag yourself I’m Eragon

A little bit obsessed with the Soundtrack of Hazbin Hotel recently and now I kinda want an AU where Arya and Islanzadi actually got to properly reconcile and duet a modified Version of "More than anything"
I know its a crack idea (i am full of those) but now I cant stop it anymore 😅

AU Idea for Inheritance Cycle
Tumblr media
Murtagh and Eragon are raised under Galbatorix's thumb.
-> Brom dies while killing Morzan and his dragon.
-> Selena is unable to escape Morzan's castle. Her childbirth with Eragon is very difficult (stressful pregnancy). So she kind of passes when Eragon is 3 and Murtagh is 7.
-> The green egg is stolen and eventually hatches for Arya. Because she is the elf princess Islanzadi doesn't allow her to reveal herself until she is fully trained by Oromis.
-> Arya reveals herself almost a decade later.
-> Galbatorix is nervous. He has to go up against both Oromis and Arya. He desperately needs another rider.
-> Finally caves to the idea and exposes the red egg to both Eragon and Murtagh.
-> Thorn hatches for Murtagh.
-> No longer needing a spare to control Murtagh he simply kills Eragon. Afterall what can be more important to a rider than his dragon.
-> Murtagh escapes with the help of someone mysterious.
-> ends up in Nal Gorgoth.
-> Joins up with Bachel.

OTHERS Eragon problems
It has been said over and over again, The Inheritance Cycle has so many outstanding issues, problems, contradictions that I've lost count.
But one that particularly sticks out for me is Galbatorix's knowledge of certain things.
All right, he's the all-powerful, mysterious king, whatever you want, but do you remember the final battle?
Here Galbatorix first spoke of the Eldunarya that Eragon had found in the Vault of Souls. I mean, Gal looked at a point in the void (where the invisible Eldunarya were) and said "Hey Umaroth wassup" as if it were nothing
h o w is that possible
Eragon went to Vroengard with only Saphira and Glaedr; he later spoke about it with Blodgharm, Islanzadi, Orik, Orrin, Jörmundur and Roran. (I assume Nasuada knew it too, but I don't remember exactly the scene)
No one else learned of this, and Eragon revealed the secret on a hill a long way from the camp, and in any case I very much doubt that all those trained people, especially the elves, would not have noticed that someone else was listening them.
Eragon also made everyone swear in the Ancient Language to secrecy.
I repeat, how is it possible that Galbatorix knew this before they even entered the Throne Room?
Theories?

I am So curious about Arya’s father TBH
Islanzadi is terrifying frankly, most of the time but the way everyone talks about Evandar he sounds like a bit of a sweetheart. Like he blessed a raven who saved him one day.
I just know him and Islanzadi were like Sunshine and Thundercloud and I think that might be why Islanzadi gets scared and frustrated with Arya sometimes: She reminds her of the man she loved who died for the same convictions their daughter has now.
