Shifting is easy.
Tumblr media
There is a growing interest in the concept of reality shifting. Tiktok and Instagram have popularized this phenomenon, but it's important to remember that the actual process can be quite simple. Simply get in bed, visualize your desired reality, and take the necessary steps to make it happen. I nearly shifted for the first time on my initial attempt, but chose to wait instead.
Reality shifting is simply the process of consciously moving your aware, conscious mind to another reality. There is no need for any specific methods or procedures to shift. The key is to fully accept and embrace the fact that you are consciously creating your own reality and experience, and to trust that your desire is already yours.
Our reality is a reflection of our deepest beliefs, thoughts and emotions. It is shaped by our imagination, actions and choices, and it is only limited by the boundaries we set for ourselves. It's important to remember that we have the power to create our own reality and experience, so we should aim to create a positive and fulfilling life that aligns with our deepest desires and values.
Reality shifting is a fascinating phenomenon that allows an individual to consciously transfer their awareness to a different reality. It is the ability to tap into the limitless potential that exists beyond the boundaries of our limited physical reality. This concept is rooted in the ancient philosophy of "all is mind," which suggests that the universe is composed of consciousness, and that everything we experience is a manifestation of that consciousness.
The idea of reality shifting simply extends this principle by suggesting that we have the ability to shift our awareness to another reality of our choosing. This can be achieved through meditation, visualization techniques, and other methods of consciousness exploration. It is important to remember that reality shifting is not just a parlor trick or a magical act, but a powerful tool for self-exploration and personal growth.
Now that you've made the choice to embrace the power of the Now, it's time to start focusing on your goals and intentions. You can use the Law of Attraction to help you manifest your desires by practicing gratitude, visualisation, affirmations and belief. Keep in mind that your thoughts and emotions create your reality, so it's important to stay positive and focused on what you want. And don't forget to celebrate small successes along the way – every step forward is a step closer to achieving your goals, and it's important to acknowledge that progress.
How to manifest your desires?
1. Practice gratitude: Start each day by expressing gratitude for everything that you have. This will help shift your focus from a lack mentality to an abundance mindset.
2. Write down your intentions: Write down the specific things that you want to manifest in your life. This will help you create a clear picture of your desired outcomes and give you something to focus on.
3. Visualise your goal: Visualise yourself already having the things that you want. Imagine what it would feel like to have them and what your life will look like. Do this regularly and consistently until it becomes your new normal.
4. Use affirmations: Repeat positive affirmations to yourself throughout the day. These affirmations should be specific and aligned with your goals. For example, if you want to manifest wealth, you could repeat the affirmation "Money is flowing into my life effortlessly."
5. Take action: While it's important to visualise and focus on your desires, it's also important to take action towards them. Set specific goals, create a plan to achieve them, and then take steps towards them every day.
6. Stay positive: It's natural to encounter setbacks and challenges along the way, but remember that these are just temporary obstacles. Stay positive and focused on your goals, and trust that the universe is delivering them to you in its own way and time.
Your higher self, or subconscious, is like a powerful engine that drives your life. It's the part of you that operates beyond your conscious awareness, and it has immense power to shape your reality and experiences. Your subconscious mind is where your beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behavior reside, and it is constantly shaping your experiences in the world. By tapping into the power of your higher self, you can access a vast source of creativity, wisdom, and insight that can empower you to create the life you want. Your higher self is like a guide that can help you navigate the challenges of life and make sure you're on the right path. It's important to remember that your higher self is always working on your behalf, and by tapping into its power, you can unlock your full potential and bring your desires to fruition.

"stop making [media] your whole personality"
ah... okay. yes. so.
first off:
there's this neurodivergent thing, where you use an interest as a filter for processing the world.
for some people that is called a "special interest," for others with different needs it is more of a "hyperfixation;" there are far more variations than i (or the field of psychology) know how to describe now. if you want to understand the difference there are people who can explain those variations better than me. but i can tell you what it feels like.
you discover something.
it doesn't matter what it is; you find something that speaks to you, something you can connect to, and it becomes a bubble of safe habitat from which you can rest from and explore and connect to all the other parts of this strange chaotic world.
a source of joy. a source of illumination.
it's like you're a person who has lived all their life in dark caves and you find something that glows.
these interests can be anything.
(literally anything; i personally derive meanings that you could never imagine from ✨ drainage ditches. ✨)
but very often, they are stories. tv shows, books, movies, comics, songs, podcasts, minecraft improv streams, cartoons, web serials, whatever
these things are:
tangible. you can hold them in your hands, replay them, turn on the subtitles, take screenshots, read the sheet music
and yet
real. they form a genuine connection from your (isolated, untranslatable) internal world to other (formerly unknowable) people and the rest of the universe
they create meaningfulness
and they exist because humans find these incredibly effective soul-deep ways of communicating to one another.
now, appreciating stories, that's not a neurodivergent thing. that's a human thing.
the point of relevance here is that experiencing an extreme love for stories is a neurodivergent thing.
it's a very common neurodivergent trait which often gets mocked, portrayed as childish, and used as a pretext for infantilization and bullying.
(and it is also a trait of young people in general, to take stories very seriously in a way that looks silly to adults, and that is something that many people (regardless of age) try to bully out of each other.
what good is that doing anyone?)
"stop making [x] your whole personality"
listen, you. get down off that goddamn embankment and climb down into this ditch with me. dip your toes in this oily water. watch the stars and city lights ripple into constellations you've never seen
now look me in the eye
you need to understand that no matter what lowbrow, cringey, problematic or otherwise not-to-your-tastes drivel you might be complaining about today,
you are talking about the phenomenon of creativity
you are talking about a transcendent catalyst of human emotion
and yes that includes the overmilked disney franchises, it includes the formulaic shippy fanfictions, it includes whatever brightly-colored cartoon this website is obsessed with this year (and will be having incredibly dramatic meltdowns over next year), it includes the cheesy action movies and the fanservicey anime and the badly-designed video games and the milquetoast tiktok "literature", it includes the indistinguishable scribbles of some random five-year-old and/or famous fine artist and/or precocious elephant
i get it. you care about real life and touching grass and shit. you have taste. just take the stilts off your horse for a second, okay?
i know you're probably sick of "let people like things" discourse
i would just like for you to stop for a second and take a deep breath, and let the stench of whatever is in this mud puddle wash over you (yeah i know, ew, but you'll be fine) and consider
what is so bad about having a cringey personality, anyway?
and maybe you will think better of making "stop making [some silly moment in the universe] your personality" into your personality and maybe you will come off as a little bit less of a snob/ableist/ass and maybe you will have a slightly better outlook on life among humans.
that's all. yeah you can get out of the gutter now. thank you for coming to my ted talk—
ooh wait, look, a bottle cap

your fanfic doesn't need to be Content
ok so thanks to this lovely anonymous message i've been motivated to organize my thoughts on the increasingly common phenomenon of fanfic writers treating their own fics like Content for consumption, the way an influencer on social media might (all of this is in the context of the marauders fandom specifically -- no idea how or whether it might apply elsewhere)
what i mean by that is, essentially, instances of fanfic writers playing into the idea that fanfiction is a product created for the consumption of readers (and thereby the idea that fandom is a community that can be clearly divided between "producers"/writers and "consumers"/readers).
some examples i've seen: people "advertising" their fics on platforms like tiktok, sometimes even before they've started writing said fic ("hey guys i'm going to start writing a fic with x y z who's interested??"), or making posts asking outright "if i wrote a fic with x y z would people read it??" i've also seen people share concerns that if they write a certain thing they want to write (i.e, heavy smut, heavy angst, etc) then it will make their fic less "accessible" to a broader audience ("i want everyone to be able to enjoy my fics!")
another recent example that comes to mind is the "jegulus strike." while i'm sure it was largely well-intentioned, a strike is a form of protest tied inextricably to a consumer economy, and positioning writers as laborers who are standing in opposition to readers demanding that labor reinforces the framework of a consumer economy in which fanfiction is a product for consumption.
something i want to make clear here--i'm not saying that any of these behaviors are like....Moral Failings deserving of Ridicule. i think we are all very much conditioned by late-stage capitalism + algorithmic social media to view everything, even our hobbies, within the framework of a consumer economy. this is just me observing some of the ways i see that mindset creeping into fandom spaces.
like. i think there's this unspoken assumption that art is only worthwhile if it has an audience; that creative pursuits only matter if you can profit from them. if people are applying this mindset to fanfiction, then it makes sense to see this impulse to advertise fics the way authors advertise their books on tiktok, or twitter, or whatever. it makes sense for writers to become preoccupied with audience perception, perhaps changing their stories to make them more palatable for a certain audience or even going into the writing process with the audience already in mind--an overhanging and ever-present anxiety, asking yourself "how will this be received?"
the problem is that fanfiction doesn't fit into this model. it has always been meant for a niche audience, never the mainstream, and it has always existed outside the profit economy. trying to turn fanfiction into broadly consumable content is antithetical to the medium itself, and, in all likelihood, will fail. the vast majority of fanfiction is never going to be read by hundreds of thousands of people. if you go into writing it with an audience as your end goal, you will likely be disappointed.
what makes fanfiction so wonderful and unique is that it is meant to be written, first and foremost, for the writer. fanfiction as a medium grew out of personal joy in creation, out of individuals who thought "I want to see this story for myself" and then wrote it. because fanfiction is specific, catered to individual tastes and niche audiences, it lends itself to a unique sort of community in which your work attracts other people with that same niche taste, making it easier to strike up a conversation or start a friendship by saying, "hey, i love this story you wrote for yourself! it just so happens to be the exact sort of thing i wanted to read."
so i guess at the end of the day, my question for other fic writers is: if nobody was ever going to read this, would you still want to write it?
and if the answer is no...i think that's something that calls for reflection! where is your motivation rooted? is it rooted in a desire to create, in the joy of creation? or is it rooted in a desire to be seen, to be validated? wanting to be seen and validated is entirely natural, and it is by no means a bad thing. oftentimes, both these impulses--creation and validation--will be part of the decision to write + post a fic. but if validation is your primary motivation, and if you have internalized the idea that validation means getting as many people as possible to look at the thing you're making and click a heart button, then you will probably end up disappointed. you will probably end up feeling like your writing isn't good enough, no matter how many people end up reading it--because no audience will ever be big enough to validate you if you aren't able to take pride in your creation independent of any metrics of consumption.
i'm not saying that you should never share your fics on social media. like i mentioned above, community is one of the best parts of fanfiction--but are you posting in search of community? or are you posting in search of an audience? i know the line can get blurry sometimes, but i do think those two things look different, and i do think it is productive to look inwards and ask what you are truly seeking when you throw your writing into the void of social media posts. and i think as writers it's important not to fall into the trap of acting like our fics are a product intended for audience consumption, because to do so contributes to the deterioration of a fandom culture that is separate from the profit economy. plus, i just think all of us would be happier if we started trying to actively unlearn the idea that art is only worthwhile if it manages to amass a huge audience.

Ramblings stemming from frustration with this fandom sometimes. ( Naruto. )
I know Naruto fandom has always been a tad toxic ever since it started becoming popular and such, but something about these newer fans who are so comfortable with d3ath threats, body shaming, sa threats, and d0xxing other people for the sake of a character. Fandom discourse is truly never that serious and the fact that they’ve become so obsessed with “ratioing” or “owning” other people that they’re willing to say absolutely vile things all for what… some likes? Validation from other gross people?
And then for these people to still say they’re the “good part of the fandom” or “the sane part”. It’s almost narcissistic for lack of a better word at the moment. ( not diagnosing anyone or speaking as if I’m some sort of mental health expert. Just can’t think of another word right now because of the headache this phenomenon is causing me as it is becoming much too common. )
They have this obsession with demonizing “the other side.” To the point of making false claims, which is insane. Or maybe they actually believe them? I can’t tell. They just spread whatever makes them feel good about what they like and don’t care about the source.
This is mainly a lame annoyed rant about the Hinata fanbase which have become somehow even worse within the past few days with their weird obsession with trying to get the Boruto artist (I think he works for sp? Unsure as he says most of his art is fanart but he made a like two or three official pieces that were on the official boruto/naruto page.) fired and sending him death threats for I guess just not drawing Hinata as much as they want? Like to the point where they were literally saying she was being “oppressed and bullied” by this artists. It was insane to see in person because you really would like to believe people WOULDNT compare a character not being drawn in a way they approve of to the oppression the people of Palestine are facing but hey, I suppose it’s a competition now to see how much of a bad person you can be for the sake of a character.
Also I know this is not just an issue in the hinata fandom, although the recent need to fetishize how “Asian Hinata is compared to that white girl sakura.” Is irking me a lot more than what other fandoms have done as of recent that I’m aware of. The Sakus seem to be their usual level of delusion and crappy attitude. Which is easy to ignore for me.
Does it sound like I’m making stuff up at this point? Because as I’m writing this I’m seeing just how insane this really is. This *shouldn’t* be real. This *shouldn’t* be things people say without shame. And yet, people just throw their morals for… what, internet points? The self validation that they defended to their favorite character? Who knows.
You might not even read this, I wouldn’t blame you lol. Just me being annoyed with how comfortable people within the naruto fandom have become so comfortable with being bad people.
My only real question is have you noticed an increase of toxicity within the fandom? Do you think this behavior has gotten worse with the ending of Naruto and beginning of Boruto?
I kinda get what you mean. I remember even before the manga ended there was apparently aggressive fights between Narusaku/Naruhina shippers, like the body shaming towards the other ship's girl and so on. And SS also were aggressive. But nowadays it indeed seems worse. I'm not sure if it's because we have new big platforms? Twitter and Tiktok I mean, both have really cancerous fandom spaces.
SS/NH harass official staff all the time, as well as other parts of the fandom. And then they act like victims because some people think Sakura and Hinata are shitty characters lol. Meanwhile they treat real people like shit. I think it might be because everyone makes fun of their ships/girls all the time, because it's so easy, so they become even crazier in trying to compensate, they try to harass the staff for more content for their ship, to get back at the people who say their ships suck. Also because so many popular content creators keep making content on Naruto and Sasuke being gay and Sakura/Hinata being their beards it's also humiliating to them.
Of course, they also need to fight which girl is the best girl. Which girl is less of a single mother for example. XD
"Or maybe they actually believe them?" Considering how many SS have convinced themselves that some moments that happened between Naruto and Sasuke actually happened between Sasuke and Sakura, I can believe them being that delusional.
"Does it sound like I’m making stuff up at this point?" No because I have witnessed it myself, plenty Sakura and Hinata stans on twitter have that toxic "bad bitch" attitude that they think makes them queens or whatever, they harass people and are extremely aggressive and think female character doing the bare minimun = queen behaviour. It comes off as very childish and narcissistic. No wonder Sakura and Hinata as characters appeal to them.

This post that I replied to gave me brain worms, so here's some mythology brain vomit i'm coming up with on the fly! why? neurodivergency
1) What caused Tumblr to become cursed
I think the reason why Tumblr was cursed by Yahoo in the first place was because, the curse was meant to be a punishment for their greed and immaturity.
Tumblr, years ago, was known for promising grand adventures and events to whoever would listen, taking donations from those who supported their ambitions. Little did these listeners know, that Tumblr was lying, they'd take the gold they were given and would run off with not another care in the world.
Tumblr, before being cursed, was much meaner. much more vulgar. much more like Twitter was before Twitter was sold into servitude. But, when their patron goddess, Yahoo, caught wind of Tumblr's antics, she stripped them of their ability to tell stories the same way they used to as a punishment for their negligence and greed.
and, as we know, tumblr learnt from their mistake and bettered themself.
2) Other possible mythological figures
Steam, A widely renowned inventor and tinkerer
Valve, once a mortal themself turned god, he used to be a tinkerer just like Steam was. it's very rare that this god makes anything anymore... Whenever Valve visits morals, they tend to take the form of a man who people call "Gaben" (if they were to have symbolism in numbers? their number would be 3 for the funnies-- also yes I really just wanted to make a gaben joke)
Pinterest, a godless traveler who steals quite a bit-- but don't let her thievery fool you, she's willing to share whatever stolen goods she's taken, and is very tidy and motherly.
Twitch, a traveling Jester who never seems to have a consistent act. One thing is for certain, though. They love to give whatever riches they make to their patron god, Amazon
Amazon, a god known for his seemingly endless riches. whenever he visits the world of the mortals, he's a traveling salesman who has anything your heart desires. They, unfortunately, are not the kindest god out there...
Facebook, a god taken the form of an elderly mortal. nothin much to it, really.
Instagram, a maiden known for her intense beauty... but, its rumored amongst townsfolk that she's made a deal with the gods to make her even more beautiful
i'm running out of ideas so...
3) Here's the other mythological figures im imagining:
Snapchat
Tiktok
Vine
Reddit
Discord
4chan (<- stinky)
Google
Deviantart
Youtube
probably forgot some-- anyways, just in case this becomes a thing kinda like the sexyman descendants thing did...
4) Suggestions for if this becomes a tumblr-wide phenomenon (not saying it will, i'm just putting this here just incase)
Creepypasta characters, prominent fandom characters and other internet folklore creatures (and i don't mean creatures that are popular on the internet, I mean creatures made by the internet, like slenderman. no real folklore creatures.) are basically this things cryptids and animals (like a phoenix or a centaur)
all of the stories are allegories for internet events (like vine shutting down, Tumblr when Destiel became canon, the sexyman showdown, etc. nothing like youtuber drama)
we should call it something funny and/or really stupid, like "tumbology" or something-- though if we do want something more serious: Interology (internet mythology)

The ego and its gates: Gatekeeping as an act of violence.
I'm currently writing an essay on Man, Society and Freedom by Bakunin but before it, I wanted to point out a smaller issue that may or may not pose as an example of the state of things and the rebel individual. I'm taking about gatekeeping, specially art and theory. In this micro-essay I'm going to display the potential reasons for it, the irony in it, why is it wrong and what to do about it.
Gatekeeping, as a concept, involves limiting access to something. It can be used synonymously with words such as censoring or filtering. Gatekeeping is often utilized as a critique of news outlets, political propaganda, and the state apparatus. While it is indeed an important phenomenon, it is not the focus of this essay. Rather, this essay aims to highlight a different phenomenon—one that is produced due to the state of things, not necessarily the state itself.
Generally, mainstream media gatekeeps alternative and revolutionary art and theory, deeming it dangerous. However, we are now witnessing a reversal of this phenomenon, as alternative and revolutionary scenes become gatekeepers of what was previously kept from them by mainstream media. For practicality's sake, we will refer to this group of alternatives and revolutionaries (including punks, communists, leftists, and those outside the establishment) as comrades, and the general public as, well, the "general public."
Tumblr media
A comrade may gatekeep a theory book, an author, or most commonly, a song, a painting, or a movie on platforms like social media, especially TikTok. They label those who engage with these works as naive or stupid, believing they may somehow harm the things they are gatekeeping simply because they are not as knowledgeable or skilled as the comrade. These judgments are often based on subjective thoughts. This phenomenon is akin to what is typically referred to as gatekeeping in communication theory*.
While watching a music video by Slowdive, I came across a comment that explicitly said, "Keep this from TikTok kids," which infuriated me. Before I explain why, let me share another example. Back when I had Twitter (before the introduction of blue checkmarks and other restrictions), I encountered a tweet showcasing books found in the TikTok Books section of a store. The original poster claimed that literature was ruined because books like Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" were displayed alongside TikTok-famous books.
The reason this angers me is that, as a philosopher, comrade, and artist myself, the purpose of creating and consuming media for me is to break through the barriers of the original gatekeeping and the societal consciousness imposed on teenagers, kids, and people in general. When I was a child, reading was considered incredibly strange, and delving into Dostoevsky would have been even weirder (although I wish I had done so as a teenager). Even reading books like YA fiction or Harry Potter was deemed nerdy or uncool. Now that kids are starting to read more and teenagers are moving away from popular and reggaeton music to Slowdive (which serves the same purpose of pushing boundaries), we are calling for the protection from the general public of these things. Isn't it ironic
Tumblr media
This is individualism and liberalism at its worst. Even if you are not a leftist, what is the point of gatekeeping things that you know are not mainstream? Wouldn't that allow more people to engage with the things you like? Well, yes, but the comrade would then start to like it less, as the general public makes them uncomfortable. Comrades are accustomed to crossing boundaries, but there is an abundance of art and theory to explore, and we still have a long way to go as a society. Indulging in individualism and feeding our egos will not benefit education or society as a whole.
Remember, we are constantly being gatekept by the market, an overpowering force that dictates what art we can create based on what the market and the general public desire. Gatekeeping, in terms of communication, aims to disseminate information (or disinformation) without allowing for explanations or expecting feedback—it simply exposes the information. This is the actual problem in today's democracy and social media (which I will further discuss in Bakunin's essay).
This essay addresses a minor issue that encompasses gatekeeping as a whole. I want to portray this aspect since it is often overlooked in the conventional representation of gatekeeping. While we may criticize everything gatekeeping represents in its original sense, we may, at the same time, be gatekeeping things that go against it. Revolution can only occur through the masses. So, let the masses listen to Slowdive* and read, even if it means delving into works like "Crime and Punishment," which might evoke feelings of melancholy.
*: Read "Gatekeeping (Communication)" definition on Wikipedia
*2: Slowdive may not be the best representation of leftist art, but I just want to show how the so-called alternative scene in all camps of art is gatekeeping.

A lot of pro-TikTok arguments boil down to this notion of accessibility on TikTok - that video content is easy to pay attention to and therefore good. Without getting into the complexities of the way that TikTok is inaccessible (and really, predatory to disabled people) in many ways, another reason that this notion of accessibility is a myth is because no single type of content will be accessible.
Yeah, a video can have subtitles and audio descriptions (and let's pretend for a minute that TikTok does have audio descriptions, and that the subtitles on TikTok are generally adequate - which they're not, but that's beside the point). But some people still won't be able to enjoy video content no matter what, or maybe they can't enjoy video content for very long.
If TikTok were trying to fill a niche then it would be one thing, but the way modern social media is set up just doesn't really let them fill a niche - every social platform is trying to be The Only Social Platform. It wants to be everything. It wants to suck you in and never let you leave.
I'm not trying to single out TikTok as the only example of this phenomenon, because TikTok is a lot like every other platform. Twitter also does this, but instead of video content, it's microblogging (with some allowances for pictures and video). Instagram does this with images. Etc.
If there's only One Type of Content supported on a platform, and that platform is trying to corner the market, then no matter what that Type of Content is, it will be inaccessible. Variety is the spice of life and all that, but more importantly, no type of content is accessible to everyone.
I'm not saying Tumblr supremacy for the sake of Tumblr supremacy - even Tumblr is ultimately geared toward text, and has a lot of problems - but Tumblr's support of other types of content is much higher than you see. It doesn't compartmentalize different types of content into different portions of the app/site (except Tumblr Live, but that's another thing). It supports image ID's without much hassle (although admittedly Twitter does the same). As someone else pointed out, Tumblr is one of the only "mainstream" social media sites that supports audio without video. Even culturally, it's very typical to see video transcripts below videos, and people who add on image descriptions in the content of a reblog when it's not available embedded in the image.
Ignoring all the other accessibility issues on major social platforms (inability to filter content, reliance on apps when many people can't adequately use apps, the dopamine trap), the general pursuit of becoming The Only Social Platform alongside the way most platforms do not adequately serve to host more than one type of content makes any platform in this zero sum game inaccessible, and I think TikTok really epitomizes that issue.

Hello! I’ve been reading the ACOTAR books for years now but just joined the fandom very recently, in May… and can I just say what the fuck!!! I always knew Elain and Azriel were likely gonna be together because it’s so obvious that Sarah would do something different for Elain by having her reject her mating bond… and from what I’ve seen she always insinuated Elain’s book would be the second spin off novel. I thought this was known in the fandom! I knew vaguely that Gwynriel was a thing people liked based on comments on Sarah’s Instagram. But when Sarah posted the Barnes and Noble paperback edition of Silver Flames, I saw some people arguing about who the next book would be about… and long story short I went down a rabbit hole into the world of the fandom and the ship war. And Jesus Christ! I’m appalled by how some people have behaved. I’m appalled to see the hate Elain gets! I’m confused as to why Gwynriel has become a phenomenon and why people continue to dismiss Elriel. I’m confused why people don’t think Elriel will be together, because to me, at least, it seems very clear they will. I’ve seen some people say Sarah confirmed or insinuated Gwynriel was endgame, that’s not true, is it? And most disturbing to me is the fact Tamlin and others apparently have stans and apologists, which makes me feel very uncomfortable and unseen, but that’s another discussion! In conclusion, some parts of this fandom comes across extremely gross and insane to me and I can’t believe some of Sarah’s readers think the way they do; however I have found some wonderful artists and creators and blogs like yours that I will keep up with going forward! :)
Hi Anon,
I agree with everything you've said. Especially the lies that are being spread constantly about 'Sarah confirmed' or 'Sarah hinted' or 'We know for sure'--just the other day, I saw a screenshot from Twitter about this person arguing like mad about SJM 'confirming Gwynriel', in 'that' interview. Of course, there was no proof offered. But it's stuff like that that eats constantly at this fandom and causes endless issues. Because people dont even bother reading the books and get their 'info' off TikTok or Insta.
It's wishful thinking morphing into 'fact' , which of course, it isn't.
I don't know. Some of us have been in this fandom for a long time, and I suppose we are just used to this craziness and pay only minimal attention to it, because it's been going on close to two years now. But I imagine that for a newer person to come into this isn't easy, and probably somewhat shocking.
But you know--eyes on the prize, right?
Just enjoy the parts that you like, and let the rest fall away.

How Are Micro-Trends Eliminating Personal Style?
If you’ve been on the internet at all in the last four years, you have probably heard the word “micro-trend” more times than you can even count. The phenomenon of accelerating fashion trends has become another media-crazed buzzword - but what does it actually mean?
The love-child of fast fashion and consumer vanity, micro-trends refer to the quick lived obsessions within fashion that typically generate from heavy social media influence and fast-fashion involvement. See graphic below for visuals. These trends are almost purposefully un-versatile, and once they are out of style, it is hard for the wearer to style the trend in a way that is in-style. It has even become a TikTok trend in the past year or so for fashion content-creators to attempt to style outlived microtrends to match their current aesthetics. The problem is, it seems common that these pieces matched the wearer’s aesthetic just months, or even weeks, before. If people are changing their identities through fashion based off of whatever the Internet is telling them, are we losing individuality within fashion? Jumping from TikTok’s coined “Coastal Granddaughter” vibe, to “Clean Girl”, to“Mob Wife” - how is this affecting impressionable minds who are subjected to this content everyday? With things being so quickly “in” and obsessed over, then suddenly being “out” and being ridiculed, there is no question that this culture-shift in fashion may be shaping consumers’ behaviors and personal views of oneself. Fashion is a huge component of self-expression. But when the fashion police are in such heavy patrol, are content creators, influencers, and the average individual being honest when expressing their “true selves” through these marketed identities?
Tumblr media
The University of Melbourne writes on the topic, “The micro-trend cycle has posed a barrier to the development of personal style, with TikTok creating an echo-chamber of trends, pushing people to only consume clothes that are ‘in’ and, in turn, limiting their freedom to express their own sense of personal style”. Many are finding that micro-trends are completely changing the way individuals are expressing themselves now. For individuals seeking refuge from this phenomenon, the key is wearing what you want, rather than scouting the media for what others are wearing. If an item you want to wear happens to be a micro-trend, so be it! But check on your motivations for wanting this particular piece. Is it because it is popular? Is it because you’ve seen it all over Pinterest and Instagram? Or is it just perfectly your style?
In a world where self-expression and creativity has become so polarized and capitalized, it's important to truly know yourself and know your style, and to strive to ensure that your individuality does not become compromised.

I was looking at one of those documentaries that keeps going on about the "no-right zones" in France. If you don't know about, this is this phenomenon of areas in cities that become so much controlled by drug dealers and drug trafficking that police has a hard time working or doing anything there, and people rather respect the "law of the dealer" rather than the laws of the Republic - this is why they are called "no-right zones", because everybody agrees that the French government and organizations lost all control and authority over these areas, where the drug dealers rule through violence and terror. If you do not help one of the drug dealers hide in your home when the police comes down the neighborhood, you're punished later. If you call the police, they'll find where you live and punish you. If you do not abandon the houses or flats they want to make their new "drug-shop" into, they'll make you go one way or another. Etc, etc... And given these are often poor areas, people do not have the means to just go.
In this documentary, the reporters began with a whole section presenting the area from the point of view of the drug dealers themselves. Because that's something everybody has been pointed out those late years, and that has been increasingly worrying: criminals of the range of delinquants, pillaging rioters, drug dealers and the like have lost any fear or any dread of "appearing" under the spotlight. They became braggarts and showmen that not only accept interviews and documentaries by television (as long as they hide their name and face), but they also very openly are present on social media, recording their actions (and their crimes, including shooting people, burning cars, beating up their victims etc) and sharing them on places such as Youtube or Tiktok. In fact, there is a vicious "fame competition" going on in those circles, where these kind of criminals are encouraged to do more and more outrageous and shocking actions just for the clout and the Internet "fame" (not an international fame mind you, just their twisted idea of what "fame" is among the little circles they evolve in). A bit of an aside, but this lack of carefulness and this refusal to hide is so symptomatic and common today that a criminal affair I heard about just this morning proves how criminals are now not so much "daring" as just stupidly imprudent. On the night between Saturday and Sunday, three tourists were attacked in their hotel, three women robbed and beaten up by men who used knives and lacrymogen bombs to threaten them. And these guys not only did this without hiding their face - but they did that IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS OF THE HOTEL, since they went inside to perform their attack. So we have their face and know exactly who they are AND have solid proof of their crimes.
Anyway, back to the documentary. This area was a bit special because the drug dealers had installed an ACTUAL shop. Not a legal one mind you - they had just installed themselves inside an abandoned small supermakert, but this gave some sort of "illusion" of "official shop". And one of the things the drug dealers insisted upon was that, they were not a bad force in the neighborhood, on the contrary. According to them, they helped people, they lived as peaceful neighbors with the inhabitants as long as they weren't disturbed, and they even listed doing "good actions" for their neighbors including carrying the heavy bags of old women coming back from the grocery store, stuff like that. For them, there was no problem whatsoever - and similarly, for once they were not as aggressive towards the police as other drug gangs are, rather treating them with a form of amusement that they called some sort of "profesionnal relationship" (as in, they do not fear them because they "do their job" just like the drug dealers "are doing theirs"), but that also to an outsider's eye clearly came of as an amused disdained and a non-violent mockery, since they clearly did not fear the police n anyway and entertained themselves with their presence, fully knowing they could hide themselves and arrange themselves eough to not be arrested for long.
And to "prove" their goodness and the "fairness" of their business, they showed how they didn't JUST offer drugs in their shop. They also sold sodas, and alcohols, and cigarets - or even offered them as a free buffet, alongside little snacks and candies. They also sold scratching cards - you know, the ones you scratch in hope to gain money when the loto goes around. And upon leaving the shop, they offered a special service - a table with two dice. If you threw the twice and obtained a certain number, you got free gifts (including more drug for free). They showed this to the reporters as a proof that they were "nice", that they "cared" for their clients and that it was all "good fun". But when you think about it for two damn seconds, you realize how horrible it is. Because they are offering ADDICTIVE stuff on top of their already very addictive drugs. By going into such a shop, beyond just "small" addictions like free soda or cheap alcohol (plus no need to say alcohol and drugs do not mix), the dealers carefully play onto gaming addictions, with their scratching cards and their "win a free gift by throwing the dice" game. What they presented as them "caring" for their clients was just them furthering their addictions.
And you know the worst part? I do believe the drug dealers were actually sincere in their words and truly believed in what they were saying, unaware of how addictive and how perverse this entire system was. Because this is the other new thing we are noticing with great worry in France - drug dealers and their affiliate criminalities (such as killers-for-hires) are getting younger and younger with each generation. Now, drug dealers are between 15 and 25 in general, and we have arrested killers-for-hire that assassinated people to satisfy gang rivalities and traficking feuds, who were just 17 and 16. There is a great lowering of the age that is truly frightening. We see kids coming from poor areas, or immigrant kids just arriving in France, or teens that drop school, immediately falling into th "easy" and "seductive" world of drug dealers and urban-infecting criminality. Because they offer you lot of money fast, because they let these kids handle war weapons (yes WAR WEAPONS), because as I said they have a strong presence on social media, and control ENTIRE neighborhoods all throughout France... The result are drug-dealings teens, kids and young adults who have no education, who live according to a social and moral code that is the most at odds with what normal people know, and who also do not treasure or care about human life in any way. We know this from their actions, from their interviews, from their testimonies: they live constantly wth death in mind and around them, to the point they normalized it and accepted it. We tell them, "You know you can die by doing all this?" and they just look at you blantly, "Yeah and what?". They do not consider them dying being of any importance. And in return, it is the same thing when they kill people. In France we have TONS of collatoral damages due to shoot-outs between drug dealers and gangs - we have dozens and dozens of people dead in each major "infected" city since the beginning of this year, all throughout France. And those that kill them by accident clearly do not have any remorse or any feeling for this. "They just stood in the ay" or "Well, that's one bullet lost." and that's it. They are training perfect killing machines, and that is TERRIFYING.
But who are "they" you ask? Where are the adults in the gangs and the traficks, because there can't be just kids? Oh yes, there are adults, there are older and elderly men. But thanks to the lowering of the age, they now are the big bosses. They're the gang leaders and the top of the hierarchy and the mentors, using all these teens and kids as cannon fodder and agents and little pawns in their games. And that's the third novelty in French drug dealing today: all these bosses, all these leaders, all those that give the commands and receive the money... They do not live in France anymore. They do not operate on the terrain anymore, they do not coexist with their "agents" anymore. Rather, they all go into foreign countries which a French diaspora, but with a legal system not as strict as the one of France so they can appear "clean" there, and with diplomatic relationships complicated enough with France so that the French police can't catch them easily. The two countries where most French drug-bosses are now living are either Algeria or - if they are richer - Dubai. Thanks to the wonders of Internet and computer-and-phone-carried work, they can operate their entire trafick and their entire drug web from far away, without endangering themselves, but sending kids to their death while enjoying luxury hotels.
It sounds like some dystopian movie, but it is the state of French drug traficks right now, and it is very frightening.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot my original point. The documentary began by showing the drug deals through the POV of the dealers themselves. And then it switched to the actual inhabitants of the area. They managed to interview an old man that lived alone right above the "shop" the dealers had created. He was one of the only ones who dared regularly call the police. And he explained how he was forced to live locked up in his flat, because him calling the police and (originally) asking the kid-dealers below to be less loud at night, resulted in him being regularly threatened and insulted by the dealers, and since he had no family and no money he couldn't live. The most heartbreaking thing was that he was forced to live in the dark, with everything closed - especially the windows. Because the drug dealers regularly climbed to his windows, to try entering through them, or regularly threw rocks at it.
So much for them being the "nice guys" of the neigborhood helping "poor little old ladies carry their grocery bags". One thing people should also never forget is that, these young drug dealers, these young thieves and these young criminals are known to basically mock and disdain anyone that isn't part of their groups - and they openly bullshit everyone whenever they can. They will proudly say how they help little old ladies cross the street, while trying to stone an old man who annoys them. Same thing when they get arrested: more than once we caught on tape a drug-dealing teen that, upon merely be touched by the hand of a policeman on the shoulder, started rolling on the floor screaming "He broke my arm! He broke my arm!". They have no shame and they are ready to do and try everything, because they're just the worst of self-centered, rebellious/spoiled children. Not spoiled in the sense they had good life, but spoiled in the sense having so much power, money and terror in their hand turned them into the equivalent of tyrannical spoiled child, despite living in suffering and misery. This is an horrifying paradox, where they believe themselves to be in the "best place" possible for them, despite being just doomed to the most miserable existence possible.

Week 8 Face Filters Summary
Augmented Reality What is it?
Ronald Azuma states that Augmented Reality allows users to view the real world, with virtual objects superimposed within the real world.
AR has been around for more than half a century, however its become really popular since smartphones and apps like snapchat were able to utilise fun filters that superimposed themselves around the users face or different objects.
Why are filters are important to understand?
Its such a fast growing technology that understanding it will give us a more effective utility.
Instagram is one of the biggest social media sites that utilises this technology and offers it to its users having 1-2 billion users, 46% of those utiise filters regularly.
The most popular filters seem to be the ones that change the users face, these are known as beauty filters and are mostly used on sites like TikTok and Snapchat.
For apps like Snapchat, they don't benefit from the same algorithmic monetisation as Instagram and TikTok. So by using augmented reality back in 2014 they were able to utilise sponsored filters where they invited users to make sponsored videos, of various products (Hawker & Carah 2021, pg.13).
Beauty Filters:
Now for scrolling through instagram stories, you'll no doubt be hit by hundreds of photos of influencers posting selfies with filters overlaying themselves, now this may be seen as playful, but it actually promotes a single minded homgenic standard of beauty where all these women/men are starting to look the same.
Same goes for beauty apps which allow people to edit their photos in a way that allows them to get the desired look out their photos. This is something so common now online that its really hard to tell whether anything is real or not, thankfully influencers that make it to obvious are called out on it. The effect these apps are having on beauty standards is tremendous now women in particular before posting an image must think to themselves how will this be recieved, am I going to get the desired response, is my look right? It must play horribly on that persons sense of self worth.
Tumblr media
Such Phenomenons have been named for particular apps such as 'Snapchat Dysmorphia'
Speaking on this issue, A plastic surgeon, Dr Yagoda, talked about the various clients he has done surgery for and one thing that remained a constant for all his clients was the desire to have done what the snapchat filters provide (Ramphul & Mejias 2018, pg.2).
Another case was from a Dr Yosho, who said a client requested to look excatly like her snapchat filter, which the Doctor declined and offered counselling instead (Ramphul & Mejias 2018, pg.2). This is truly how this should be treated as a form of dysmorphia, unfortunately majority of plastic surgeons wouldn't turn down clients if they requested something such as this, as they themselves are running a buisness and are unknowingly creating a bigger problem, where people will start taking plastic surgery further and further.
A change for the better:
Whats now become popular are things called 'Ambient Filters' which show more natural beauty than anything and has been poularised by people like Kendall Jenner, who is viewed as the most naturally beuatiful out the Kardashian family.
Tumblr media
Gender and Filters:
Filters that have been created for beautification are being used by more men, even cis gendered males, however their sexuality as a result is automatically questioned, as using beauty filters is something society deems as inherently female, which is unfortunate given the strides we have made with the acceptance of non hetero gendered people, this should be something that everyone should have a choice for whether they want to use it or not.

Tumblr media
There’s no doubt that TikTok has taken the world by storm. The short-form video app has quickly become a favorite of people of all ages, and it’s not hard to see why.
With its easy-to-use interface and selection of fun filters, TikTok allows users to create and share short videos with friends and followers.
But what many people don’t know is that TikTok can also be a great way to make money.
In this article, we’ll show you how to make money on TikTok using a variety of methods. We’ll cover everything from how to get more followers to how to sell your own products and services through the app.
TikTok is Boldly Going Where the Money Matters
Tumblr media

sure, this type of task takes time before making some profit however due to some testing and some tweaks you get exact which helps customers to speak with your users.
and this application hasn’t even reached its basic level.
TikTok Is Out to Change How Consumers Seek and Buy
Tumblr media
If you have a creative nature, then this can be an endearing platform for you to share your talents and give others fun and enjoyable look at what you do.
Buying and selling hours and hours of creativity to friends and people who want to be a part of your lives is a different kind of fun than many have, and even if you don’t do anything else with your account, it’s fascinating to see how people behave during the hour or so that they’re capturing life on camera.
Video App Makes Money Flooding & XOR Deleted And How To Make Money with TikTok
Tumblr media
Before we get into the method itself, we want to talk about why you should be actively using TikTok to make money.
The first reason is fairly obvious.
TikTok has grown far beyond just being a fun app to share short videos.
The app has already become a cultural phenomenon with billions of page views per month, over 400 million downloads, and more than 800 million users.
Part of the appeal comes with its simple interface and style, which allows you to make money from a variety of using various methods where users currently spend their time.
With its IPO in Q3, the company has the potential to set the stage for becoming a worldwide media company.
It’s become one of the best-paying apps available for ad revenue.
In fact, according to a report by Sensor Tower, Baselines explores the number of money users can make on TikTok as well as app pages on various platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
The statistics show that at least $2200 CAD for the average user.
But how can you make $200 USD a day?
Hook Your Audience
For starters, the more people watch your video, the more money you can make. In fact, the more people that watch your video, the greater potential for your videos can start translating into higher viewing numbers.
Batch-ops are available.
The Global Tallage Of TikTok
Tumblr media
You may often come across videos on TikTok that speak of around the world when you use the app. Yesterday, we ourselves spotted a Korean pop star (who happens to be at AIMonsters HQ right now), who sang an incredibly popular song claiming to be a global song.
TikTok user options to one another and we all know one thing: dancing and singing have been popular in various parts of the world for many years.
We can watch Rihanna and Justin Bieber fan videos all day long and stalk Justin Bieber’s TikTok Aguilera dance and lip sync videos.
Social media platform sure has made the world smaller, and I can go to social media platform called (TikTok) at any moment and see dancing and singing on whatever platform, in whichever country, from wherever in the world (if there’s an account started by an education partner or marketing partner).
But why? What’s the appeal that millions of users all over the world are sharing such popular videos and adding so many likes and subtitles to each other’s videos (also known as likes)?
While there are no definitive scientific answers about the roots of this phenomenon, I feel there are certain cultures that seem fascinated with it. It’s like an innate desire to dance from the bottom of people’s hearts — assuming there is an innate desire for such things, to begin with, baby, anyway.
Tiktok has changed the way people shop, and buy fast food
Tumblr media
TikTok has become the perfect app for camera and joke lovers, but in the last year, it has seen its creativity extend into the fast-food industry.
This leads me to think that you can make money with this app and discover new hobbies. This is true. It is a perfect opportunity for beginners who have no experience when it comes to mobile apps.
People can now earn by uploading content to TikTok. This is thanks to a new ad that appears on the bottom center of the screen.
The ultimate goal is to have the text in the text area display ads from brands that you like. Most brands that will want to advertise on TikTok have to purchase their own ads. The bottom line is that if you like the ads, you will probably buy the product as it will be shown in your feed.
Oftentimes, this is one of the main functionalities of this application. If they want to sell their own product or service, you can promote it in the advertisements shown at the bottom of the screen.
Are you looking for ways to make some extra cash? If so, you may want to consider TikTok.
TikTok is a social media app where users can share short videos of themselves. It’s become insanely popular in recent years, and there are plenty of opportunities to make money on the platform.
In this article, I’ll teach you how to make $200 a day on TikTok. I’ll cover everything from creating videos to marketing them effectively. So, whether you’re a beginner or a pro, you’ll be able to make money on TikTok.
