not to get deep but like i feel like the reason why ninerose/tenrose/tentoorose are such god tier pairings is like. there is something so unbelievably profound about how devoted the doctor is to her. he took her to see the universe. he sent her to safety and when she came back for him, he died for her. he regenerated into her ideal partner because he was literally so obsessed with her. he told satan she was his religion and if he believed in anything he believed in her. he cried when they were separated and spent years telling his next two companions about her because he desperately didn’t want to replace her. “that name keeps me fighting.” he was shot by a dalek when he was running to see her again and smiled through it for her. to avoid changing again he created tentoo and he knew that he was going to leave her with him. he knew that tentoo would give her the life she wanted, and the life he always dreamed of having with her. her happiness is what mattered to him most and that is so……. sexy

sorry but i'm feeling crazy about how special rose is to the doctor. how different their relationship is to every other. such a massive part of the doctor/companion relationship is that he has to leave them behind at some point to keep moving. he was never going to leave her behind and how that terrified him! the soft way he smiles when he asks how long she's gonna stay with him and she says forever? after the satan pit he had accepted that he is in love with her, that he will crawl up from hell for her if he has to, that he will never, ever leave her behind, that he will choose her over time and space and the tardis.

he asks her how long she is gonna stay because he knows that she is the one in complete control now, and he has made peace with that. and maybe it would have destroyed him, maybe she would have died in his arms on some planet eons away from earth in x amount of years and the universe would have suffered for it, but he was DONE searching at the tail end of s2. that's why the universe had to rip them apart, because she was at the very core of his being so deeply that they could not stay together. and that moment where she looks at him and says "i made my choice a long time ago and i'm never gonna leave you." he looks so shocked, as if on some level he did not believe her. because who stays for him? it's not the travel or whatever she wants at that point, she just wants to be with him.

the full circle from "traveling with you, i love it!" and then her realizing how terrifying and lonely it all is and can be and still choosing to sacrifice things she does want, things he has seen her want: a house and a job, her mother that she adores, the father she so deeply grieved. she would leave that all for him, and that both horrifies and humbles him. and it causes him pain because he doesn't want her to give those things up; because he was born out of wanting all of those things too. so much of his pain is that he is not human, not that she isn't immortal.

the power of tentoorose is that he somehow, subconsciously, bent the rules of what should be possible so he could stay with her. he split himself in two so she would never be left behind because she was begging him not to change, and he can never say no to her. he created a version of himself who could give her everything she wants, and he goes mad because of it, because he is tentoo as well. and he needs her, but the only thing that matters to him more than anything else is her happiness, so ten accepting that rose is happy with tentoo is the most peaceful ending they could get.

everything that made their relationship special and stand out from the rest, for the audience and for the timelord, stay forever intact. she makes him better just by existing and he never wants to leave her behind- so he never does. he gets to be human and happy in just one life, and how unhappy ten was when he was without her just serves to fortify that being with rose is what really mattered to him.

and despite the fact that the doctor almost never mentions rose after the end of time, i know that in their hearts there is corner that will always, always belong entirely to her. and i know that part of rose still resides in the heart of the tardis. forever.

So okay, I haven't seen the commentary about Fourteen returning to Fifteen once he's processed his trauma to be "reabsorbed" or whatever, but if that's how it's gonna go, then yeah. Okay, I can see why they did this.

Doctor Who has been such a fucking insane whirlwind of loss and trauma pretty much since Journey's End when the Doctor lost his lover and his best friend. Tentoo and Rose are happily married in Pete's World. That Doctor gets to actively live the happiest he's ever been every single day, but this Doctor had to keep going.

Eleven lost the Ponds. Twelve lost Clara and Bill. These characters effectively die, which is why they're mentioned directly. And exemplified by the Toymaker, these are big losses. Yaz+Co. didn't get even an inkling of a mention because, quite frankly, they weren't. They all just got to go back home like companions used to do all the time. It was kind of a big deal that so many companions had such tragic, permanent, traumatic endings. So yeah, it makes sense that the Doctor would need to take time to process this.

(That and the Flux thing, apparently, which - uh - I guess falls under the same umbrella.)

Fourteen is incredibly vulnerable. He's open and raw, and he needs to be in order to be the Doctor to process these things. It makes strategic story sense to have the Doctor break in half to allow part of him to retire and process while the other part of him keeps going, because (like with Tentoo), the show must go on -- he can't actually stop.

Having David Tennant's face as Fourteen makes a lot of strategic sense, too. Not only is DT a fan favourite, but his relationship with Donna is the most familial of relationships he's had. Some fans may wonder again why Yaz wasn't who he'd go to, but it has to be noted that they made Yaz a romantic interest and that is not what this Doctor wants or needs right now. That's why they've established Fourteen as (likely) gay. That's why he's calling Rose Noble his niece and Shaun his brother-in-law. He's effectively rehabilitating with his sister, and that's kind of cool.

I do understand the tragedy of Donna's ending was appealing to many viewers, but it's been 15 years. That's long enough for her to get a better ending to her story that doesn't just involve winning the lottery. Her family and how she cares for people who need it are Donna's greatest strengths. Having Donna get her memory back but not become an all-knowing DoctorDonna hybrid is sending a kind message of hope that I think this world needs right now, to be honest.

RTD has done this, in part, to allow for the show to return to being more lighthearted and about hope than it has for a long time. It's saying that it's okay to take a break, but also acknowledges that the Doctor - as a show and as an almost supernatural being - has to carry on as well. It's a soft reboot with acknowledgement to the past without having to view it as a burden, so I get that.

I've seen a lot of people immediately compare this ending to Tentoo/Rose, though, and I don't know if I agree. This isn't a Doctor creating a version of himself to be with a lover as a human, to live the one, singular life he couldn't otherwise have. He didn't bi-regenerate out of love or fear of losing his lover. His loss of regenerations and ability to age as Tentoo is really important to their story, and this is not true for Fourteen. He's still full Time Lord - and if the commentary is true - will eventually reunite with himself. That's not at all the same. Instead, this is the Doctor many years after a traumatic experience using a magical way to get his break and travel, too.

As well, the Doctor was in love with Rose. He had to tear his heart out and leave her in a different universe to let her go. That would not have happened with a bi-regenerated Doctor sharing the same universe. The two Doctors would have had to create a copy of Rose (much like these two had to do so with the TARDIS) in order to be happy. It's not like Donna, because Donna can be a sister to two identical brothers and it's not weird.

(That's if you don't count polyamory, but that would never happen in the show.)

I hope that they use this soft reboot to help move on from past traumas in a healthy way. I hope that Fourteen with Donna does help Fifteen become more of a positive Doctor than even Thirteen was, who was secretly dealing with so much angst all the time.

I do adore, absolutely, that the Doctor did acknowledge his favourite people. River Song and Adric were mentioned as important and lost. Sarah Jane and Rose were explicitly said to be loved. It was less than I was hoping for, but also exactly what I think should happen if they're trying to use this special as a way to finally, realistically move on and start something fresh, new and positive.

So yeah, I guess I'll keep watching to see what happens next.

Were you named after anyone?

Not as far as I know. It was my late grandfather who suggested it, so he might have met someone in northern France, when he was there during WWI, who influenced him.

When was the last time you cried?

Yesterday. A TV programme called “24 Hours In A&E” had a mother agonising about watching her son go through cancer treatment, and I shed tears in sympathy, having been through that experience.

Do you have kids?

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Quite a lot; but usually to amuse rather than get at people. Hubby is the exception that proves the rule.

What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Their vibe, I suppose. Inevitably visual cues make you create assumptions about people’s class, intelligence, and demeanour; and I am very sensitive to possible rejection, since my appearance caused many nasty reactions in the past. Nowadays, most older people look like me, so it’s easier to blend in.

What’s your eye colour?

Blue.

Scary movies or happy endings?

I only like scary movies that are funny, so I’ll opt for happy endings. Although I don’t mind a bit of bittersweet instead.

Any special talents?

Erm… I’m useful, because I know random stuff; or am very willing to find out on your behalf.

An East London borough.

What are your hobbies?

Mainly reading, a spot of writing, lots of telly; and plans to return to hobbies like cardmaking, cross-stitch, watercolour painting, and playing the instruments I own. I thought I might join the village choir when we moved here, but alas, my singing voice has faded away to a croak. Oh well. There’s still some possible voluntary work to keep in mind for later.

Have any pets?

Sadly, my Marvin the Martian and Tentoo (that @some-thrilling-heroics  made for me *cuddles him*) are the closest things I’ve got to pets.

What sports do you play/have you played?

I wasn’t exactly encouraged to play ‘normal’ sports, so I loved playing darts, snooker, and table tennis when I was younger. Don’t have access to any of these anymore, not even a computer game version.

The last time my height was measured it was 5′4″ (about 1.62m)

Favourite subject in school?

Favourite subjects to learn were English Literature, Maths, Sociology, and Geography. My favourite subject to teach was Maths; although I got the chance to have a go at a multitude of subjects.

I’m a bit past having a dream job, as retirement is now beckoning. There are flippant answers I could give (like: David Tennant’s bedwarmer) but to be honest, I had my dream job for many years.

Why I stopped watching Doctor Who after Ten and why I decided to get caught up

David Tennant coming back as The Doctor has given me so many feelings that it’s taken a over a week to parse them out.

These feelings first begin in the fall of 2018—4 years ago. Despite being a sci-fi nerd, I am late to Doctor Who. I know a bit about what happens from being on the internet and I decide to give it a go.

Eccleston’s Doctor is enjoyable. Series 1 is finding it’s footing. Some episodes are cheesy, some are heartfelt, and some are…not great.

Nine regenerates, and I am not prepared for my emotional reaction to Ten.

I have loved many characters over the years. I love my own characters, of course. They’re in my head and we chat all the time. I think about a character I cooked up when I was 16. He is a middle-aged, divorced, ship captain who is given the task to find a suitable planet for humanity. I loved him when I created him. I love him still.

I love my current characters an absurd amount. The librarian, the scientist, the heir. They are all in my dreams, and they are real. I hope that one day, other people will love them too.

I love other people’s characters. They leave impressions, just like people. I carry them with me wherever I go. They sink in and become part of me in ways that are different from my own characters.

Yes, I have loved many characters over the years. So many I have lost count. But I can count on one hand the number of characters I have fallen in love with.

It’s not the same thing, is it? If you’ve fallen in love with a character, you know. There’s a subtle yet striking difference.

As I watch Dr. Who, I fall in love with Ten.

It takes maybe two episodes—oh who am I kidding. By the end of the Christmas special I am in love. Head over heals, madly in love with Ten.

The big grin. The puppy eyes. The funny quips and chaotic energy. The hair. The specs. All of him. He is adorable and attractive. All my boxes are checked.

In series two he is SO HAPPY. He’s delightful to watch. Every moment DT is on screen as Ten he is brighter than the sun.

Part of that sunshine is because of Rose. Ten is so obviously in love, and Doomesday rips out my heart and then squeezes it between bloodied claws while I am forced to watch. Ten burns up a sun to say goodbye and is on the brink of confessing his love when time runs out.

God it sucks. It hurts. This fuckin’ show.

For most of series three he mopes, and then he picks up Donna in series four. Donna isn’t Rose, but Donna is his BFF and I can get on board with that. I love Donna. I’m not in love with Donna, understand, but I love her. She’s great.

And then Rose comes back and the show tries its best to give SOME kind of happy ending with Tentoo. But for me…it doesn’t satiate. Tentoo isn’t Ten. Ten has to stand there and watch the woman he loves kiss someone who is him…but not him (DT has commented on how much that sucks). Ten is still sad. And then, shortly after, he has to say goodbye to his BFF and erase her memories.

What the fuck, show. This is literally the worst. It’s so goddamn tragic I don’t know what to do with myself. I just want him to be happy for eternity.

No, just kidding, it gets worse. Because the regeneration is coming.

I do not—absolutely DO NOT—want Ten to go. There are so few episodes in each series. I need more. I haven’t spent enough time with him.

And then he looks at the camera with tears and says, “I don’t want to go.”

Are you fucking kidding me. Is this for real.

Suddenly, understanding comes. A lightbulb. This character, the Doctor, will never be happy. It’s impossible. They are tragic. Everything turns to ash around them and almost everyone they love must be cut off from them and sometimes people die.

I push on. I watch the first episode of Matt Smith, but I cannot do this. I absolutely cannot. My heart is too broken. The character I’m in love with is gone. It doesn’t matter if Matt Smith is great (I’m sure he is). Doesn’t matter that there are good episodes to look forward to (Van Gogh)—I can’t. I literally have to grieve Ten. And the more cynical part of me says, “why should I watch a show where the main character will never be happy?”

You might find that dramatic. But this is my emotional state at the end of Ten.

I don’t watch Doctor Who after that.

Three years later, I see on my Twitter feed that DT is filming Dr. Who. I see this picture 👇

Everyone, including me, thinks it’s a Ten special because what else would it be. Maybe I’ll watch it. Catherine Tate is filming, too. Can I bear watching Donna again? Knowing what happens? I love her. Not in love with her, understand, but I love her. And the ending she got broke me.

I’m apprehensive. Whatever—I still have a year or more to decide if I can handle watching the special.

And then this year…something unexpected happens. Thirteen regenerates into…DT? When I hear the news it stuns me. I watch the clip. He’s…back. Properly back. The teeth comment makes me laugh through my tears (yes there are tears). I watch it again. And again. And again.

I learn we are getting THREE specials. DT is the fourteenth Doctor. Something blooms in my chest. Something…hopeful. I’m going to see him again but so is Donna. Catherine filming for something that canonically takes place after Donna lost her memories means there’s hope for that wrong to be corrected. Even if she doesn’t continue venturing with him. I’m definitely watching the specials—and who knows, maybe after that, too.

I start watching clips of Dr. Who again. I’ve missed Ten. I laugh. I think…maybe I should get caught up. Maybe I can watch it now.

I know what happens to the companions of Eleven and Twelve and I know the writing isn’t great in later seasons but—he is coming back. I can do it.

I watch the first two episodes of Matt Smith as Eleven. I laugh (I didn’t laugh at all when I watched it 4 years ago). I probably won’t fall in love with Eleven, but I think I can love him.

This is a good show—even if it’s a bit tragic.

A fucking emotional scene where the Doctor finally understands how much Donna feels like shit ?! Did this person even watch the episode properly ? Everything in the episode contradicts this stupid idea !

Nothing can be clearer after a while... Tentoo is a human regeneration of the Doctor. Nothing more. Nothing less. What makes him part human is Donna's DNA / biology. She was the one who had his mind ! Tentoo is half human. Not half Donna. That's not how it works. The Doctor is his mind with his feelings and experiences coming from the regenerative energy. What Tentoo has.

Tentoo never had Donna's fucking mind. It's crazy how antis can take a quote out of context to conform their twisted vision of Tentoo's character and the end of the love story between Rose and the Doctor. Even though everything else in the episode contradicts their shitty idea / belief ?

My Wild, Off-The-Wall Doctor Who Theory

Okay, so. I've got a 60th special theory. It's very probably wrong. But I'm posting it here just in case it isn't.

What if the Doctor really, actually, for real dies. The Doctor is dead. But Donna regenerates.

I know, I know, I know, hear me out. 

First, from a behind the scenes standpoint. The Doctor Who marketing team has been leaning pretty heavily into the concept of regeneration. They did an hour long Youtube livestream with all of the Doctors regenerations, and everyone on the marketing team seems to be trying to ensure that everyone in familiar with the concept. Now, this could be to prepare us for why Fourteen regenerated the way he did, but it also could be that the next Doctor isn't techniclaly Fifteen. Except, one point against me, I think his theme is actually going to be called “Fifteen” so that’s maybe an indicator that I’m dead wrong, but I’m having fun with my crack theory. So anyway, Davies both hasn’t called Gatwa Fifteen *and* in a recent interview for SFX Magazine, he said that he’s going to be calling Gatwa’s first season “series one” which is. So wild. He’s starting all the way over. And that’s so funny to me. So, from a technical standpoint, there’s not much to suggest that this couldn’t happen. It’s not likely, but it could.

Second, from an in-show standpoint. What sci-fi mumbo jumbo could make this possible? Well I’m glad you asked. SO, Donna’s last episode, Journey’s End. Ten gets shot by a Dalek and is brought inside the TARDIS, where he thinks he’s going to regenerate. But, last minute, he puts all of his regeneration energy into his severed hand. Later on, as the TARDIS is crashing, Donna, who's been hearing a heartbeat, reaches out for the severed hand. There's definitely an energy transfer there, and it does end up creating TenToo, who is almost like a mix of Ten and Donna (The DoctorDonna.) And at the same time, Donna gets some attributes of the Doctor as well. Mainly, we see that she now knows pretty much everything the Doctor knows. And of course, this is what's killing her. But what if she got other attributes of the Doctor as well? 

When Ten is leaving Rose on the beach for the second time, TenToo tells her that he'll grow old with her and that he "can't regenerate." And listen. I'm not saying that all of the Doctor's attributes *had* to be split evenly between TenToo and Donna during the metacrisis. That might not be how that works. But if it did....that would mean Donna got the regeneration aspects. It doesn't make that much sense, but it's not out of the realm of something that could happen in Doctor Who. Honestly just this part (and not the Doctor also dying and Donna becoming Gatwa) makes more sense. However, the only line of dialogue we currently have from Gatwa is him saying "Is anyone going to tell me what the hell is going on?" which is a very Donna thing to say, and I just think that would be so neat. The Doctor definitely could've also said that. Especially since he does seem to be wearing Tennant's new suit (just deconstructed) but I would just be so interested in the implications of it.

Now, obviously, we have to contend with fan reaction. People would absolutely hate this. He is The Doctor, yknow. He's a British pop culture icon. He's been around for 60 years. But Davies was best, at least in New Who, at giving the Doctor well-rounded character traits. He had a character arc that he went on that went mostly ignored during the 11th, 12th, and 13th Doctors in favor of different arcs because that's kind of the nature of Doctor Who. But he's also been around 60 years, and the character just keeps getting older and older. Even Tennant's Doctor, three Doctors ago, was constantly talking about how old he felt, how tired he was. There are places you can go from there, Twelve attempted to a little bit, but he's just going to keep getting older and going through more things and at some point, especially 60 years on, that could get narratively stagnant. But what if there was a way to keep "The Doctor" without keeping the same character. They could even be called The Doctor after having dropped the Donna part from "The Doctor Donna." It would switch it up, be interesting, go new places (like, maybe an "I'm the last of the Time Lords but do I even count as a Time Lord?" arc, that'd be fun.) And also, watching the incarnation of the Doctor who famously "didn't want to go" accept his death. And a reminder that it's David Tennant, who would be the best choice to end the Doctor on, if they ever were going to do that. British people and hardcore fans might hate it, but I'd kind of love it. I've also seen the theory that Rose Temple-Noble could regenerate as well, as a result of the same process, and that's also interesting but I don't really have a narrative idea of where that's going.

Anyways this is probably all a load of horse shit but it's just wild enough that I'm having fun feeling like a conspiracy theorist about it. Thanks for reading!

Babbling time. I vaguely remember screaming like a dead horse at some point in your Destiny chapters because for the first time since forever, my thirst for blood and pain for my recent obsession is having a great time for what seems like -- hmm -- a very very long time suffering in the most exquisite and well written story ever ever (unlike the other fandoms I used to follow barely have any art on anatomy and all the doctor-y stuff I always wanted) and then realized a dead end when I checked latest update (when I read it back in 2020) was sometime around 2017-ish?

But I DO remember I was rolling and spitting nonsense to my friend right in the face about your story and the MASSIVE cliffhanger kicking my pinky toe and my friend was all ????? and raised eyebrows and all that shite and anyway where was I going -- oh yeah I was manically searching for your other accounts and finally dropped into your ff.net and MAN you cannot imagine the sheer tears of joy that there's actually MORE chapters there? Hello? Heaven? It's even complete!!!??!

Mad mad mad MAD, I was -- and still am -- whooping madly in love for your series. And when I finished it up to The Ten Keys of the Moirai, I would re-read them again and again (I really cried when you brought back Tentoo, wow, excuse me can I get a breather please) and honestly they give me good dreams. I love good dreams. Then you continued updating your AO3! And then Memento happened! And then the pretty insane Gallifreyan anatomy happened! And I'm just so happy (and concerned in a good way) for you! I'm so proud of you for getting back up to your feet after defeating the baddies like you always do.

Months and years go on and true to my words, I still re-read them in my free time. I hope you're not too hard on yourself tho, what you did and shared with us are just masterpieces. What the hell. Fine works of art and damn pure passion, I mean there's not enough words I could describe what you do to keep yourself out of the terrible side of boredom but I'd put you next to le Carre if that even make sense.

It warms the cockles of my little robot heart to hear such words aimed in my direction and I can't tell you how honoured I am whenever anyone reaches out to me in this way to tell me anything I create means something to them. This whole series has pretty much been going since I was pubescent and I'm now heading through the aging decades quicker than a ninja flipping in a thunderstorm, and I still can't let the infinite story of TenRose (with extra whump) go.

All creation credit for the gallifreyan anatomy goes to @fritzmetzger for the idea, which frankly was waiting to be released from my brain by someone far more perceptive than me, and from that point it was always going to be somewhat of a bible. in the event of a multi-doctor episode with (hopefully) all of the nuwho doctors, i think that the only two who wouldn’t be derogatory to each other would be eleven and thirteen. i can picture the rest of them bickering/bantering and begrudgingly trying to save the universe, while in the background eleven and thirteen just point at each other excitedly grinning like idiots. the camera pans away from them for one second and when it cuts back they’re wearing each other’s jackets.

guys remember when ten saw rose again and couldn't believe his eyes because she's all he wants in the universe so he starts running to her like nothing else exists even though the entire universe is ending bc he doesn't even care in that moment and then gets shot by a dalek and starts dying in her arms and he still smiles and says her name like this is the best moment of his life while literally dying... remember when he starts to regenerate and she cries ane begs him not to and he was born loving her so how could he deny her so he accidentally creates a seperate version of himself to avoid regeneration and this separate yet still true version of him is human and was born out of love for her TWICE and immediately offers to spend his one human life with her because the last thing he remembers is rose begging him not to change and now he never has to and of course this is painful for ten but all he has ever wanted is rose to be safe and happy and he wanted that so badly that he split in half for her; that he gives her up despite the actual physical proof that all he wants is to be able to grow old with her and yet he CANT. he's got stuck in the same immortal body; the same body that wants to be human while in another life he IS HUMAN. do you think abt how ten says tentoo needs rose because tentoo is too dangerous alone and then losing rose again causes ten to literally become insane? because he is meant to be in that parallel world with her and he knows it and he loves her too much to ever take the gift of HIMSELF from because "oh she knows" goes both ways... do u remember....

Why are Doctor/Rose fans against each other? I'm seeing this everywhere. I think there's a lot of defensiveness on all sides of this weird shipping war and what's super strange to me is that it's still about how the Doctor and Rose should be together, so... it just feels silly.

In canon, the Doctor and Rose are together in Pete's World. This is canon - there are no maybe-what-ifs about it; Rose chose to be with the human Doctor, because he's the Doctor who can grow old at the same time as her. This does not mean that they're just going to not be them, though. They're still doing the exact same things they did as Ten/Rose did, just not, y'know, in their original universe. If you want to argue that it's not the same because they can't travel - go outside sometime. See how big this planet is and then tell me they can't explore it. Tentoo is still the Doctor - that's canon, too. You can't just argue against that with opinions; it's literally canon that he's the Doctor, and it's a perfectly reasonable stance to ship Tentoo/Rose happily together, because that's literally the outcome of their romance.

But there's nothing wrong with wishing Rose got to stay with the original Doctor, either, because yeah - he's also the same person. Doctor/Rose = Nine/Rose, Ten/Rose, Tentoo/Rose, Eleven/Rose, Twelve/Rose, etc. etc. etc.

Folks, if you don't get this part, you aren't getting the point: the Doctor is the Doctor is the Doctor - it doesn't matter what body he's in. He's always going to be the same person. People can argue that Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, etc. aren't the same, but really all you're noting is that the show runner changed, the tone of the writing changed, and the Doctor moved on to other romances/companions. That doesn't mean he just forgot Rose. It also does not mean that he just magically fell out of love with her. That's ludicrous and goes against everything this show is about. Just look at every instance of any past companion being mentioned. Just look at how hard it is for Eleven to talk about her, hundreds of years later in his timeline.

It's hard to see the moving part on happen, especially as a Doctor/Rose shipper, but it has to. That's the point. That's why Tentoo/Rose is so valid; she's literally the only companion who does not have to be left behind, because he created this separate version of himself that gets to stay with her.

But seeing people upset that Tentoo exists is silly because how else would they have allowed them to stay together? It's a television show. They can't make Rose Tyler immortal and have the sci-fi adventure suddenly become a romance.

And Tentoo/Rose shippers who are upset with timepetals shippers is silly because good god, people, if this wasn't a television show, wouldn't you want them to stay together?

This became a bit of a ramble, but I just had to get this off my chest: we're all rooting for the same pairing here, so why are we being defensive about how that pairing should look?

Doctor x Rose Christmas Prompts!

Here’s a list of 31 Christmas and New Year related prompts that you can use freely to seek inspiration or just a fun plot to play with while waiting for the celebration to come. 

The prompts are for all Doctors and Rose. Choose your OTP and write away!

The prompts:

Two strangers grabbing the last item off the shelf. They either have a fight about it (making up later, of course!) or they laugh about it, forming instant camaraderie.

Making snow angels.

"Red bicycle when you were twelve" prompt. How did this happen? When did the Doctor give Rose the red bicycle?

Kissing under the mistletoe. Jack might or might not have something to do with the mistletoe being all over the place.

Meet Cute: falling into each other while on a skating rink, either figuratively or literally.

The ice of the Woman Wept. Seeing beauty where it is nearly impossible to see. When do the Doctor and Rose visit the planet? Do they visit again after being there with the Ninth Doctor?

Christmas Decorations. The intimacy of decorating the tree together. Putting a star on the top. Decorating the Tardis! Some Doctors are excited! Some Doctors are grumpy (yet still feel warm and happy inside).

Christmas workshop. Baking cookies. Making glass decorations. Scrapbooking. Drawing postcards. Anything you think is suitable for a Christmas workshop. 

The Unquiet Dead post-episode. Does the Doctor take Rose to another Christmas location and time? Do they remember Gwyneth and the way she saved the world? Do they read Charles Dickens' stories? How do they deal with the events of the episode before returning to 2005 (well, 2006)?

The Christmas Invasion. Popping Christmas crackers. Snuggling in front of the TV together. It is obvious in New Earth that Ten and Rose didn't leave immediately after celebrating Christmas. Cocoa and cuddling in front of the fireplace. What were they doing before leaving? Christmas Domestics.

Hallmark movie scenario. Create the cheesiest, tropiest plot in the shades of red, golden and green, and give us the happiest ending ever!

Gifts. Gift-giving. Gift-choosing. Gift-accepting. Gift-unpacking. Imagine how hard it is to impress the Doctor! But do you think it’s an easy job to choose a present for a one-in-a-million companion like Rose Tyler?

First Christmas together. Could be All Human AU, could be Tentoo and Rose’s first celebration together.

Boxing Day. Basking in the joy of seeing your loved one adoring the gift you chose for them. Watching your kids unpack the gifts by the fire while sleepily cuddling on the sofa, being ridiculously happy.

Christmas carolers. Christmas music. 

Christmas mass. Churches. Nativity scene. Anything faith-related because Christmas is a time of hope and happiness, of believing in salvation, of giving second chances and being kind.

Charity. Standing behind the counter in a kitchen for those in need. Raising money for gifts and a small celebration for the homeless people. Making and sellings things to donate money to support the community. Arranging Christmas presents for the kids whose parents haven’t got enough money for the things and toys those kids dream of.

Christmas sweaters. Knitting a sweater for your beloved. Or it might be about the silly-looking ones they show in the Christmas movies. 

Dinner with the in-laws. A disaster that ends in cherishing your partner alone when they get home. Or a sweet scenario when someone lonely understands they have now got a loving family. Could be All Human AU, could be Tentoo and Rose’s first Christmas dinner together with the family.

Kind, helpful strangers. Adding a lacking pound. Helping to collect the groceries that have fallen out of the bag. Lending a hand to help standing after falling on the icy road. Driving a stranger home in their car for free because it's cold and public transport works awfully because of the snow.

Warming up after a blizzard. A steamy bath with scented oils. Drinking spiced tea while hiding from the hostile winter winds.

Hurt/Comfort. Taking care of the one who caught a cold. Good old hypothermia fic. Or emotional hurt/comfort: soothing someone's soul when this time of the year is usually unkind to them.

Tree hunting.

Cooking Christmas dishes, planning the perfect Christmas dinner while watching old movies or humming cheery tunes together.

Kissing at the drop of the ball or when fireworks start as the New Year arrives.

Restoring a hopeless child's faith in all things Christmas. Sounds like the job for the Doctor and Rose, eh?

Writing Christmas cards to each other. Can be modern AU, can be historical AU (this one is provided by the kindest person ever, @rcse​!)

The Planet of Christmas. What is the weather like there? What do the buildings look like? Do the traditions resemble the Earth ones or not at all?

Christmas photo. Making pictures and turning them into cards to send them to friends and relatives later on. Imagine Rose making the Doctor pose for a picture to send it to Jack. To Vastra and Jenny, to Strax, to any of the Doctor's dear ones. Are these funny pictures? Perfectly done ones? Or are they silly?

The New Year's Ball. Because why not get the Doctor and Rose dressed up in their finery and why not send them dancing until the midnight kiss? 

It’s time for a Christmas display at the shop. Marvelling at the sweet details. Or it’s up to the Doctor and Rose to create one! What would they use? What colours? What toys, sweets, objects do they use? Could be All Human AU, could be the Doctor and Rose helping someone out.

Please, notice that these are to inspire you, not to follow them strictly: you may tweak and change them to your liking, or you may unite them into one, or you may use them as they are. The only important thing is to have fun and celebrate the upcoming holidays.
