Valetines Day Bingo: Mix Tape - Will Trent x Reader
Tumblr media

Hitting the Homemade Square on the Valentine's Day Bingo Card!
Tumblr media
Will doesn’t realise it’s Valentine’s Day, not until he finds the gift left on his desk. It’s a small midnight blue box, no bigger than the leather coaster he sets his coffee cup on. His dark eyebrows crease into a frown as his fingertips trail over the gold silk ribbon tied neatly in a bow on the top. He has no idea where it’s come from, there’s been no women in his life since before Angie passed away, certainly none who would be so thoughtful.
He's careful as he opens it, someone’s put a lot of thought into it making it look pretty and it seems a shame to ruin it. He’s surprised to find a small Dictaphone tape inside, resting on crisp gold tissue paper. It’s not one of his, he can tell from the lack of wear and the fresh green label on the top.
A puzzle, he thinks as he removes the tape from the box and pops it into his Dictaphone. He sits down in his chair and leans back, pressing down the button with his thumb.
He smiles when he hears your voice, the sweet dulcet tone in his ears as you say.
“Top Romance Songs of all time, dedicated to Special Agent Will Trent who wouldn’t know taste if it bit him in the ass.”
You’ve gone old school and made him a mixed tape; one he can listen to on his Dictaphone anytime he wants. The idea must have come from the argument the two of you had last week.
It’s the sheer amount of effort you’ve put into the gift that humbles him. Tracking down tapes that’ll fit his device, finding recording equipment to transfer the songs onto the tape so the sound is clear instead of muffled. He has no doubt you bribed someone downstairs in the IT department to help with that. Noone has ever given him such a thoughtful gift before, not in all the years he’s been on this Earth.
He's still listening to it when you get back from court later on in the day. He sees your familiar shadow through the patterned glass as you walk past his door and straight into your own office. He hears your delighted laugh through the wall and the edges of his mouth twitch up into a smile.
It’s a couple of seconds later you appear at his door, knuckles rapping on the glass as you hold up a box of baklava from Broz Bros Bakery, almost forty minutes away. Each piece of pastry is a work of art, handcrafted with tiny sugar flowers and hearts. He’d known the instant he laid eyes on it that you’d love it. He’s tied the gold ribbon from his gift around the box. His bow isn’t as neat as yours, but he thinks he’s done an alright job.
“I don’t suppose you know who dropped off this box of baklava on my desk?” You ask him as you linger in the doorway.
“Not a clue.” He says before raising to his feet and slipping back into his waistcoat, he busies himself by focusing on the buttons as he asks. “Do you have plans tonight?”
“I have a hot date with the computer in my office and this box of baklava,” You tell him as he smooths his palms down over the creases. “What about you?”
“Betty.” He says simply and you smile, that knowing smile of yours because the love he has for that dog, it’s heartwarming.
“I will leave you to it then.” You say, stepping back over the threshold.
“Camilla…” He says and you pause for a second, meeting his earnest gaze. “The man who bought you that baklava, he’s lucky to have you in this life.”
Love Will? Don’t miss any of his stories by joining the taglist here.

🍰 and 🍔 for Satenik and Melik! Also happy birthday to Mama Hammersmith! Hope she had a great day! (Gointothevvater 🖤)
🍰 SHORTCAKE — what is/are your oc's favorite sweet(s)/dessert(s)?
Satenik actually doesn't have much of a sweet tooth (a trait she passed along to her son). She loves nazook (specifically when her mom made it) because it's a pastry that isn't overly sweet.
Melik likes baklava. He grew up with the Armenian and Iranian variants (he prefers the Iranian kind because it's crispier and he doesn't like all that syrup), but he's not picky.
🍔 HAMBURGER — is your oc good at cooking? are they good at baking? which one do they prefer?
Satenik knows her way around the kitchen (both from being taught by her family and having home ec in school), but she hates cooking. Cooking for a special occasion or as a way to show love/hospitality: great. But cooking every single day, multiple times a day, no she hates that. When she was finally able to live on her own, she relied on instant meals. Her adult son cooks for her now. I don't think she'd ever attempt to seriously bake.
Melik has very basic cooking skills, but that's about it. Nothing really of note lol. He can make sandwiches.

Flag’s Rosh Hashanah Seder Menu:
1. Matzah Ball Soup (box mix for the matzah balls, and then I add ginger to the mix. I make my own bone broth and put in an entire chicken, plus onions, dill, carrots, and celery.)
2. Ukrainian Dumplings (friend)-dairy sauce but the dumplings themselves were parve.
3. Red Cabbage Salad (friend)
4. Green salad (friend)
5. Parve and Dairy noodle kugels (my crowd is kosher style but not strict, some people didn’t care and others did.)
6. Tzimmes
7. Roasted green beans
8. Couscous dish (sibling)
9. Brisket (obviously)
And of course apples and honey, challah, etc. Dessert included home baked cookies a friend brought, cider donuts, rainbow cookies, and baklava.
My recipes were all from the Kosher Instant Pot Cookbook and the Joy of Jewish Cooking, but I improvise a lot when cooking (do not do this when baking, though; cooking is art, baking is science), so a lot of the recipes are vibes. But all sides are parve except the dairy ones stated.
Also! Many of the vegetables and herbs came from my garden!

went to the farmers market cause i was going to rot if i stayed in the house any longer.
got a tomato (for dinner) and a peach (for dessert)
one lady asked me how i could stand wearing leggings out in this heat (95f/35c) lol
another lady saw my necklace and said shalom
tried a free sample of baklava (delicious) and some instant health/energy drink stuff (not bad but not my thing)
i'd had almost nothing to eat up to that point so i got a tamale for an afternoon snack plus a hibiscus agua fresca on account of the aforementioned heat. best decision ever that was one of the best tamales i've ever had and the drink was both huge and delicious. absolutely worth going for made my afternoon

🛒~ 🍬 ~🧋 :]
🛒- grocery stores/places to get food- (dont know if grocery stores where we live r well known but) we sometimes like instant food from grocery stores(tend to use ingredients from like. idk vegetables from vegetable stalls bc more common here but stuff like pasta n wheat flour we get it from grocery stores) but we're not usually the ones buying the food bc the bodys parents do - but listing ones that may be more well known that I liked when I lived in the states - costco, walmart, harris teeter(ok mostly bc of free sugar cookies n when I was younger free balloons), lotte plaza, Patel brothers(tho idk if its still there)
🍬- sweets/candies - most chocolate stuff, baklava, most types of pudding or custard, tootsie rolls, cadbury 5 star, chewy caramels, candy corn, mars bars, twix, three musketeers, cotton candy, strawberry milky bar choo, starburst, nestle strawberry flavored chocolate bars(ok yes that is a lot now)
🧋- cold drinks - we tend to prefer warm drinks but cold ones r cool too! - milkshakes (usually strawberry, caramel, or chocolate), strawberry milk, jigarthanda (a drink made by boiling milk to make sweetened condensed milk and adding almond gum which is made from almond tree sap, sometimes mixed with ice cream), some types of fruit juice, some types of flavored water, sparkling apple or grape juice

I don't do any cooking related studies, but I am in charge of food in this household so I get my knowledge from experience and swapping instead of removing is such a good principle!! I also try to stick to this bc I mean, when talking about a good recipe, every ingredient has its purpose (most obvious example of this would be baking, think eggs flour milk etc etc they all do their thing in a dish and you can't just remove something and expect the same result)
I like messing with recipes by adding stuff I think would fit in it instead, it didn't work out 100% before but with time you get better and better at predicting how certain additions would change the dish
... okay I think I went off topic sorry 😅 cooking is something I'm very enthusiastic about :3c btw, good on u for taking cooking classes! is it just for fun or do u want to pursue cooking professionally?
Yes!! Experience is the greatest teacher, its very beneficial to experiment with changes too! Ive had my fair share of it not working out (RIP those instant noodles i tried to make a sauce for with egg and tomatoes... I added the egg at the wrong time and it just ended up scrambling with the sauce and making it solid 😔)
I do have a tendency to wing it with recipes sometimes. I remember my first time using rosemary... Didn't Google how to use it. I ate wood and was chill about it 💀
i made baklava the other day and it went good! We had leftover nuts and filo pastry that i didnt want going to waste, so improvising doesnt go wrong all the time atleast haha
Making mistakes is very important in cooking to understand why everything works together, the baking example you used is a very good one! I tried making cookies when i was younger with self rasing flour and it basically made scones
Haha no worries abt offtopic stuff im having fun in this discussion x)
Thank you!! Im taking classes mostly for my own life skill benefit rather than a career option, but it is handy to have that qualification on hand :]

The Hunt For Tanzanites
May 2023
It may sound obvious but if you don’t enjoy endless travel, there are better occupations to choose than to be an international gemstone merchant. You see, more than 80 years ago, my family resolved to only work with gemstones that were procured directly from its respective mining sites. Additionally, our gemstones must be purchased from other families that we know and trust. What was a very noble declaration by my grandfather- to create direct tracing to a particular family at a particular mine for each gemstone- has been very lucrative for the airlines. I fly, on average, 150,000 miles each year.
It's one thing to fly New York to Istanbul airport, for 10 hours and have a Turkish coffee and baklava (a favorite pastime of mine). It’s a whole other endeavor to continue on to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania on an 8-hour flight just to sit around for a few hours until you find a replacement seat for your cancelled, short 1.5 hour flight to Arusha. That’s where I find myself drinking coffee today. Yes, it’s the hunt for tanzanites.
In the gemological world, it’s a very new gemstone. It was discovered in the 1960’s by Maasai shepherds, not far from where I am sipping my coffee. Its beauty is undeniable, as even the most jaded gemstone enthusiasts find the gemstone mesmerizing. At its finest quality and unlike any other gemstone before it, tanzanites possess a deep, alluring violet-blue color. Even though relatively soft, the natural topography of the region allows these gorgeous specimens of nature to grow without many internal flaws. But even the greatest works of art need a proper gallery and marketing to achieve commercial success. In steps the retailer of the little blue box, Tiffany.
Tiffany was shown this gemstone in 1968 and fell in love with it. Always keen to introduce new gems to the world, this powerful retail entity decided to put its money and its marketing might behind this exciting, new discovery. They named it Tanzanite as an ode to its source country.
The gem world normally calls gems that are more abundantly found semi-precious. Tanzanites were initially abundantly found but several factors immediately clouded the fine line between semi-precious and precious for this incredible gem. To begin with, Tanzanites were an instant hit. As consumers learned about this magical gem, Tanzanites started to fill a void with a unique color and relatively approachable price point. They were a big hit instantly, and demand far exceeded supply. Additionally, the discovery of a new gem is usually followed by further discoveries in other source countries. To date, the world hasn’t seen a source for tanzanites outside of a small area in northern Tanzania. What was expected to be just another semi-precious gemstone soon became the darling of modern gem enthusiasts and commanded much higher prices.
Fast forward to 2023 and the tanzanite mines are being depleted and rumors are swirling about the end of time- At least for tanzanite supplies. Collectors and enthusiasts alike are in search of larger tanzanites (at least 5 carats+ but preferably 10 carats+) in top, saturated colors. Obviously, such specimens are becoming ever harder to find, and most industry experts are predicting a 50% rise in prices in the near future. The proof- for the first time in tanzanite history, gems are selling at much higher prices within Tanzania as compared to older inventory around the world. In this case, it doesn’t take an economics degree to realize the sudden increase in prices and the window closing on what the tanzanite world considered the norm.
Happy hunting! My plane is about to leave!

But beyond being simply a tasty indulgence, sweets can play a very important role in cultural gatherings and personal health.
First and foremost, sweets can bring families and friends together for shared experiences. No matter if it is a gathering for dessert at a special occasion or exploring the candy creations of a local confectioner, sweet treat scan serve as an instant bonding agent. Turkish Baklava - The Best Sweet or Dessert You Can Get To Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth
Turkish baklava is an internationally beloved pastry that has its origins in Turkish cuisine. Named by the Turks, baklava can be found in a lot of Middle Eastern and Southeast European countries. Turkish baklava has a rich history, long standing traditions, and a unique flavor that make it wildly popular among international eaters and bakers alike.
In its most basic form, traditional Turkish baklava is one of the premium sweets that you can get in a reputed sweet shop online in UAE. It is made of layers of phyllo dough filled with chopped nuts and bound together with a sugary syrup or honey. The phyllo layers are often filled with walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, or, most traditionally, a mix of all three nuts. The chopped nuts are sweetened and often spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and/or clove. The syrup or honey is often flavored with orange blossom, rose, or lemon water.
When made traditionally, a Turkish baklava is first created by layering sheets of phyllo dough on a rectangular baking tray. Traditionally, homemade phyllo was used, but due to its lengthy preparation, a lot of bakers now opt for store-bought varieties. Each layer of dough is separated with melted butter. After quite a lot of layers have been placed on the tray, a layer of ground nuts is spread on top and then followed by several more layers of phyllo dough. The pastry is then crimped along the sides and cut into diamond-shapes. Before baking, the surface of the baklava is brushed with melted butter and then baked at a low temperature.
After baking, the sugary syrup or honey is poured over the cooked baklava and allowed to soak up the sweet syrup. This syrup is essential to the flavor of the baklava, as it gives the pastry its sweet, sticky, and crunchy characteristics. The baklava is then served at room temperature and commonly enjoyed with a cup of tea or a hot beverage.
Today’s Turkish baklava can differ from its traditional preparations. Nowadays, bakers in a renowned and top-rated sweet shop near me in UAE often make use of flavored nuts such butter, chocolate, or pistachios. They may also add pistachio, walnut, or pistachio cream into the layers of phyllo dough. A lot of chefsalso pair their baklava with ice cream, chocolate glazes, or a drizzle of syrup. Inaddition, Turkish bakers may also create a baklava pudding by replacing the pastry layers with a creamy pastry cream. At the same time asthe traditional Turkish baklava is one-of-a-kind, however, a lot of modern varieties have made their way into the Turkish baklava family.
No matter how many new recipes are created, the traditional Turkish baklava still reigns supreme. Its sticky crunch and sweet flavor make it a distinct standout among other pastries and desserts. From the colorful sugar skulls of Mexico’s Dia De Los Muertos to the significant role of desserts in Ramadan, a food made with sugar - often in abundance - has been seen as a way to bring joy to both adults and children alike.
Traditional and authentic Turkish Baklava has also been increasingly studied for their physiological and psychological benefits. Sweet taste sensations are believed to release endorphins and serotonin in the brain, which can make us feel relaxed and happy. Overindulging in sweets is not encouraged, but being able to enjoy them in moderation can have a positive impact on our mental health.

a night at ÑBA LEATHER/how i became a boldy believer [an article]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
On a breezy afternoon at 4 PM young fans waited in line for the third installment held in San Francisco of what was about to be the greatest, hardest, unifying, and most smoked out concert of the year (so far). When announced mid December most if not all fans (including some homies and I) were buying tickets at lighting speeds and getting ready to lose vocal cords for the main event. Some fans came in with memorabilia from previous eras others came in with their love of the artists in some form. Overall it was gonna be a long night...
Once doors opened around 8 with two separate lines across from each other wrapped around two city blocks time was only ticking before the artists hit the stage. Walking there was three different merch tables for each is own. The 1st table had a mix of earl sweatshirt merch ( a brown hoodie with his character on the front and tour dates in red on the back, a SICK long sleeve , a SICK tshirt, and a NBA leather shirt featuring the iconic Kobe championship jacket on the front with tour dates following on the back ) , 2nd table contained a combo of F**K that's delicious merch with various NBA Leather logo shirts, and last but not least the alchemist & Boldy James merch table featuring multiple 80s cult classic themed logo shirts.
So for the people who've never been The Warfield I need you to understand how small The Warfield is especially for as close to 5 city blocks of people where taken up just to get into the theater. I was lucky enough to get barrier and hold my space the whole night. First act of the night was the illustrious alchemist & all star quarterback Boldy James, who I'm not gonna lie to y'all, never heard of him before that night so trust & believe when I say this will make you a full believer in him before he even gets into the third song in his set. From DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS into the winter BRICKMILE TO MONTANA Boldy's lyricism mixed with the alchemist melodic production makes it a pair to be reckon with following a requested encore from the audience.
Tumblr media
Then Earl & BlackNoi$e came in for the second half of the event. He was everything I dreamed of just with a lot more morbid realist energy. Basically just typical Earl shit. From instant hits off of SICK! which dropped last month into unreleased tracks not even heard of by most of the audience Earl set was truly superb. For real I really can't even back track all the songs he preformed, I think it was after preforming E Coli where I zoned out and was transported into autopilot vibes mode. Thankfully I witnessed a hilarious moments where Earl rejected touching someones prosthetic leg for Coronavirus reasons. Then threw a girls phone back to her after throwing it in the middle of the stage barely missing him.
Tumblr media
Last but not least briefly seen doing reps or push-ups (either way ready to tear shit up) early during Boldy & Alchemist set twas Mr baklava himself, Action Bronson.
Since dropping Only for Dolphins September of 2020, then releasing his book "F*ck it, I'll start tomorrow" last year it was only a matter of time before Bronson came out the cave for a all star tour like this. Coming out swinging with Daringer the heavy hitter Dmtri you can feel the unity of the crowd once "Knock em out the box bronson" comes up. I've honestly never quite seen a energy like that, especially from a audience mixed of people who drove up and down the coast to catch this legendary concert. Honestly sobered me right the fuck on up only to get me faded off the pure joy of knowing I actually got to see some of my favorite artists off my top ten list before i die or at least before I turn old and get tinnitus. Low key everything else is a blur after he signed my shirt on stage.
[BTW shout out to the guy next to me who got his Palo Santo signed he was the one who passed my shirt up to him.] During his set he preformed classics like Baby Blue , Golden Eye then what the crowd thought to be the final song preformed which was Terry only then swapped out for the late Mac Miller's song featuring Bronson Red Dot Music.
All in all if you miss out on this tour then you are officially missing one of the greatest nights of your life.
Check us out Sunday for a new episode only on nah fr. - Ant

black & gold
pairing: tea shop owner levi x tattoo artist reader summary: levi thinks it’s interesting for a head tattoo artist to not have any tattoos. warnings: cursing, suggestive content (nudity) a/n: for this drabble prompt req by @bluebellhairpin
Tumblr media
The Black Canvas isn’t a new tattoo parlor by any means. In fact, Levi had walked by there daily on his way to his own tea shop, the Golden Thread. You’re no stranger to him either- sometimes you stop by his tea and bakery shop after a long day. Sometimes, you give him one of those sugary sweet smiles filled with something a little more dark, a little more curious.
But he didn’t understand how you own a tattoo parlor when you have no tattoos to speak of. The first time he saw you, he’d been somewhat surprised and had vocalized his surprise to you-
“You’d think for a big shot tattoo artist, you’d have more tattoos,” Levi scoffs, not hiding the way he lets his eyes scrutinize your appearance, “You don’t have any.” You’re fond of wearing long sleeves and baggy clothes that hide any curve or hint of your figure. It seems like your go to color is black with accents of bright colors here and there. Your ears are lined with piercings, though- a rod through your ear, two hoops and dangling earrings.
“Maybe someday you can put that hypothesis to the test. If you’re so lucky.” You say with mischief in your eyes, “Open your third eye, Ackerman.”
And then you had bounced away out of his shop with a mini peach tart and a cup of tea in your hand. He doesn’t understand you. Levi is a simple guy, if he wants something he’ll try to get it. But you seem to like seeing him flail and suffer- you always give him that look, the look that makes him think you can see right through him. Like he’s transparent.
He wonders if you can even tell the effect you have on him. He wonders if you’re as affected by him as he is of you.
Levi is often left with the sudden desire to brush the leftover pastry crumbs from the corner of your mouth. You’re a little messy, but he wants you and that epiphany makes him pinch the bridge of his nose.
Tumblr media
Eventually, the more Levi gets to know you from your impromptu visits to the tea shop and from the funny way his feet seem to carry him to your tattoo parlor, the surprise of you not having any tattoos despite your profession begins to wear off.
Even your dog, your baby Koji (a Shiba Inu), had taken an instant liking to Levi. Koji still nearly tackles Levi over when he comes to visit your parlor. Koji stays in the lounge in the back (unless you have clients that are allergic to dogs, in that case you leave him at home).
You joke that he likes Levi more than he likes you. Levi rolls his eyes and tells you that you’re probably right. To which he earns a swat to his shoulder.
Eventually, there comes a point when something shifts in your easy friendship. That point can be called back to when you had yanked him closer to you over the counter in your tattoo parlor and dropped a kiss to his lips-
Weeks of subtle glances, easy eyes and soft words boiled over to one simple kiss in your tattoo parlor as you were locking up to go home. Levi had dropped by with pastries- he was trying new iterations of beef buns and baklava. And he wanted your trusty opinion.
He knows you have a sweet tooth, and he knows you’ll try anything once.
You only look at him with wide, dark eyes, something honeyed blooming in your irises. You take the treats (neatly wrapped in a mint green box with twine tied at the top) and place them to the side.
And you pull him close to you by the collar of his shirt to shove your lips to his impatiently. You’ve been dreaming about this for days and nights, wondering if his lips tasted as good as they looked.
Levi gets over his surprise and slips his tongue into yours, pulling a sharp moan from you. It’s an uncomfortable position to be in- his torso pressed into the edge of the counter.
“Holy shit,” You exhale, “You can’t just come up here with treats and looking like that and expect me to keep it together. I’m a simple woman-”
“Shut up,” Levi breathes and walks around the counter, cradling your neck and pulling you in for another breathless kiss.
And now you’re in his apartment, in his bed, under him and pliant with every graze of his steady hands on your sides. Levi has never really asked you why you choose to wear baggy clothes, figuring that it’s your business and your business only. But now, with his hands steadily creeping under your shirt, he needs you to say you’re okay with this-
And it seems that you can read his mind easily because you sit up, your chest brushing against his, and pull your hoodie up and off.
His lips part in surprise, steely eyes wide at the sight of swirls and patches of ink painted over your skin, starting at your ribcage, spilling into your sternum  and your waist. Inevitably dipping down to your thighs. Your upper arms contain blooms of flowers and roses and thorns and Levi settles in between your legs to press the pads of his fingers to your tattoos in awe.
Reverence blossoms in his eyes and you don’t think he even realizes it. His touch is gentle, shy almost and you hold back a laugh. “You can take these off,” You murmur, tugging at your pants.
You’re half naked in front of him while he’s fully clothed but you feel no different. Because you feel safe and comfortable with him- his eyes shining with curiosity. He touches your thighs with freshly manicured hands, tracing over the spots and splatters of color here and there.
“Have you ever touched someone with tattoos before, Levi?”
“No.”
“You can touch mine. Whenever you want.”

i feel like the fandom is trying to force the whole “nicky being the violent/feral one” just because men of color are usually depicted as violent in media, but listen up: throughout the whole movie joe is the one who gets mad all of a sudden (when he headbutts merrick, when he gets revenge killing the guy who shot nicky, when he gets mad at booker while nicky tries to calm him down) joe IS the more violent one but he’s also a really emotional and delicate character, why can’t he be both?
Hi nonnie, thanks for stopping by. I will have to disagree with you on that. I have not seen anyone trying to make Nicky the violent, feral one of the two. What people are saying is that Nicky isn’t the taciturn, soft, harmless little mouse a lot of people made him out to be just because he has a heart of gold. They are ALL violent when it comes to protecting their family or saving lives. That is what they do. They fight and they kill the bad guys.
I don’t know how you saw Joe protect the love of his life, stopping for a second to look into Keane’s eyes and say, in the most calm almost soft and gentle tone of voice, that he should not have shot Nicky and thought “hmmm looks violent/feral to me!” Keane would have died anyway, someone else would’ve killed him. Joe was just the closest to him and what Keane did was most personal to him, i.e. killing Nicky. Did you not see how Nicky wanted to lunge himself at Merrick to stop him for stabbing Joe? Did you not see Nicky running into the enemy on multiple occasions, disarming or shooting them first so that they wouldn’t hurt Joe and to give Joe more time to finish the kill? Did you not see that Nicky’s first instinct the instant he is woken up is to reach for his gun to protect the two of them?
As I said before, this is what they do, they protect each other first and foremost. Not just Nicky and Joe, but all of them as a team and as a family.
As for Joe getting mad at Booker, I think if you look at the last shot before everyone leaves Booker there, they are all mad to some extent. I know it’s easy to think that Joe pushed for the 100 years of punishment and that Nicky was against it but they both look equally hurt. I actually wrote down my thoughts on that scene when everyone is already walking away but Joe turns around to look at Booker one last time. You can read them here (please read them, I scrolled down on my blog for a long time and I don’t want that to go to waste :’) )
But Joe yelling at him? Joe looking the most hurt? Of course he was. Look at their relationship before they find out about the betrayal. They were like brothers. At the dinner table, look at that look of utter fondness Joe has in his eyes after Booker says “more like misery loves company”. Watch the baklava scene again, Joe is so happy for everyone to be back together again and although there are a lot of reasons he was laughing when Nicky lost the bet, you cannot tell me that Booker’s cheer and Joe’s laugh didn’t warm your heart. Them watching football together? Booker is shown to be the closest to Andy, of course, because they could both relate to each other’s grief the most. But also to Joe. Joe felt that betrayal so deep in his heart because that was his own brother giving their family up to Merrick.
I agree that he can be both delicate and kind and soft and warm and also violent, but that is not to say that Joe is THE violent one of them all. They are all warriors, they all cannot stand the thought of losing each other so they would go to terrible lengths to protect each other. What people were simply saying about Nicky is that Nicky is not the little bee and Joe is not the savage monster some people in the fandom were making him out to be (I’ve seen people call him a barbarian. Really? Joe?)
