Ex Bishops & Caretakers
Once brought back to life and integrated into the cult, those who were once deities themselves have been reduced to mere mortals condemned to immortality. At their side, a caretaker in charge of keeping them in line, helping with their integration and, perhaps, a punishment in itself.
Hey, now there's the complete collection! I have plans for a comic that includes all of them, so I needed a reference of their looks.
I'll add a bit of info about them below.
Tumblr media
**You can find info about Leshy, Heket and Narinder here.
The new additions, Kallamar & Shamura, "The Unwanted".
Kallamar causes a particular disdain in the False Prophet, so going to find him was not a priority until it became inevitable. The confrontation and recruitment of him did not improve that impression, really. He was assigned the clown suit to lower his ego and to work in the refineries. Choosing who would be in charge of him was the easiest, considering that the squid arrived directly to the infirmary.
Shamura is a very special case. There are two reasons why they weren't annihilated once they touch the cult's ground: their lack of memory and their siblings. The False Prophet didn't do much more than give them the golden skull necklace and left the rest to whoever wanted to take charge. It's hard to get a clear idea of what the leader really feels about the spider, but their silence and how they ignore their existence is something the cult tends to share in solidarity.
Tumblr media
Camellia was assigned to take care of Leshy as a "guide cat." Prior to this, the False Prophet had had some problems with him since he was a somewhat violent drunk, so in part, this mission was his rehabilitation. Able to confront the worm's aggressiveness and keep his spirits high, they ended up having a good relationship where they were usually seen laughing while tending to the gardens and the harvest. His grave always has fresh flowers.
Mushu was assigned as Heket's interpreter, since she was the only one who was not intimidated by her and could understand her easily. Cordial and friendly, her personality allowed their relationship, although somewhat difficult at first, to end up being harmonious. Something similar to a shadow, the mushroom girl was there at all times to help the frog communicate. Thanks to her work, the cult learned approach the former bishop and future generations were teach how to understand and communicate with her.
Crystal, the head nurse at the time, was in charge of keeping the temperamental former bishop in line, with permission to use force if necessary. Hurt ego and justified fear aside, she was the only one who showed him sympathy apart from his siblings, so it wasn't strange to see Kallamar wandering around the infirmary even when she allowed him some freedom. Crystals decorate the infirmary to this day.
Aracnia was the only volunteer to help Shamura at the time, since despite their siblings' wishes, the ex bishops weren't able care for them all the time due to their own obligations in the cult. The False Prophet accepted his wish for what it was, simply wanting to help someone in need, so they provided him with whatever he wanted for this task. After his death, it's not strange to see some followers and even disciples take care of the spider on their own. The leader just remains silent.
**Info about the Lamb with Narinder here.
Tumblr media
+ Bonus because I wanted to have a clear reference of all the clothes they have in game and yeah, I did an edit of the lamb with the closed outfit in game that I could use.

(Side note: this is a horrifically inefficient way to go back and forth. I feel like we're sending letters into a newspaper column for publishing on alternating weeks of the Post. Sure takes me back 🤣)
Anon who "soundly disagreed" with you here. You seem to misunderstand why people are disagreeing with you. It's not necessarily that (untagged) OOC fic is "disrespectful" to canon. It's disrespectful to readers. You know, the very people you claim some people want to draw in by not being honest about their liberal use of OCs?
It may come as a shock to you to know some people look for fics about a character because they like their canon portrayal. They want to read more stories about the character they connected with in canon. To them, a character is not just a name followed by whatever attributes the author felt like assigning that day. A character is a distinctly formed entity with their own personality. Even in unfamiliar situations, people who are familiar with a character should have some guesses about how that character would act. Why do you think so many fans get angry when fandom reboots change how once-familiar characters behave?
If a reader thinks your portrayal of their favored character is too off, they won't like your fic. And it is fair for them to feel like their time was wasted by an improperly tagged fic. It is fair for them to not respect an author who makes no intention to write canon characters well. If you want more freedom in how you portray characters, tag your fic as "alternative character interpretation" or (better) just use OCs instead.
To paraphrase someone in the notes "don't intentionally write bad fic and be surprised when people don't like it."

I said Wars is twenty (twenty to twenty two is my range for him) just because I feel like at the oldest he’s like twenty during the war. This part is because it’s statistically more likely lol. Anyway, I feel like he’s 17/18/19 during the war, and idk how canon it is (if jojo’s ever said anything on the server?) how long it’s been since the war, but I feel like it hasn’t been very long. Mostly just vibes, honestly, but I also like the angst because traumatizing Wars is my favorite pastime these days.
For the second part, I think Twi is just a bit older than Wars (by two years or so) because TP Link is practically canon 17/18 on his adventure, and I just get the vibes it’s been longer for him. 🤷
Just my thoughts! Saw your post, thought I’d share lol. I’d love to hear yours, too!
Ooooooh okay okay (traumatizing Wars is my favorite pastime too!)
I wanna start off by saying to everyone that anyone can have whatever age headcanon they want, that’s the wonderful thing about their being no confirmed ages, but here’s my thoughts :)
My personal headcanon is that the War of Eras lasted for more than just a year, so to me during the war he was 17-20, and I feel like it’s been a while for him since the war. Comparing him to some of the others, he definitely seems older than a lot of them, and based on his dynamic in the group he really feels like the second oldest to me, and I totally see him as being in his late twenties
Tumblr media
this is from the linkeduniverse instagram and it’s probably here on tumblr as well, i just had an easier time finding it on instagram, but i base most of my age headcanons for the Links on this :) and based on vibes I totally feel that Wars Time and Twilight are the older three of the group
I think a big reason why I started headcanoning Wars as second oldest was because the only other person who seems really close to him in age for me is Twilight, and looking at their dynamic, TO ME Wars seems older by a couple years, and Twilight to me is like 23
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i read their dynamic as obnoxious extroverted older brother who won’t leave his poor introverted little brother (who is also a little shit but just better at hiding it) alone. Like I think Time has to sit there a lot and watch poor Twilight look at him like 🥺 while Wars absolutely torments him, and then Twi gets back at him some how and Warriors makes it everyone’s probably by loudly huffing and screaming about it and Twilight again just sits there like 🥺 (he gets away with murder)
anyways I think Warriors tries to big brother the hell outta everyone, and I think he’d still be trying to do it even if he was the youngest, but to me he’s late twenties :)
thank you for sending this ask i absolutely love hearing other people’s thoughts and headcanons, and its always so cool to see how differently we all interpret the characters

So I don’t know if anyone else likes doing mer whump for Mermay, but I definitely do. This year, I decided to check out the Mermay 2024 prompts and use them to inspire my writing!
No offense/hate at all to the creators of Mermay and the people who participate, but…from a whump standpoint, the official prompts are useless. What am I meant to do with “fart” and “toe beans?” Do mers even have toes? Granted, Mermay isn’t supposed to be for whumpers, so I can understand why the prompts don’t exactly cater to us.
But I decided that they should. So here’s my take on Mermay- For Whumpers!
A few things- this is not an official event, I won’t be making a blog for it/reblogging everything/etc., I just don’t have the brain space to do that right now. This is just a prompt list meant to inspire some fun mer whump during what’s left of May. But please, if you use these prompts this month, tag me in what you make, I wanna see it!
Also, May is already a week in, so I set the prompts to start tomorrow. Interpret the prompts whatever way you want; many of them are intentionally vague on purpose! The ones for weekdays are simple and short, with multiple options; the weekend prompts are a little more involved. But also, this isn’t an event, there’s no completionist reward- feel free to pick and choose your prompts, skip around, mix them together, whatever your heart desires!
Content warning: this is a whump-focused prompt list. Some prompts are darker than others, which is also why the weekday prompts have more than one option. Please tread carefully!

i love neuvifuri’s dynamic and relationship. like. imo they are the epitome of “we are inseparable, we are in love in every way, we are soulmates not by birth or due to fate binding us inexplicably but because we spent those 500 years being the one constant in each others lives and weve come to know each other the best, but we are simultaneously strangers. we never truly knew each other during all that time.“
and neuvillette knew for so long furina was keeping a secret from him and it pained him to force that secret into the light, but he knew he had to in order to save fontaine, and despite that he still wanted to do it as gently as possible. to make the trial the last resort if the travelers conversation didnt work. after the final events of the archon quest, he let furina go wherever she wished, he (if im remembering correctly) gave her a nice house and enough funds to do as she pleased and live comfortably. he used his new authority over hydro to give her a vision made specifically for her, the very first vision he has given out. he has made it as clear as day that she is welcome to talk to him, to ask to have tea, to ask him for whatever or simply just to talk.
neuvillette using those actions to say “i hope you let me know who you truly are, and allow me to stay in your life for as long as you wish, but i love you so i will not force you.”

the brilliance of jay's progression in countdown is that it gives you a promise of positive character development, and then it breaks it. and it does so intentionally, in the most diverting way, to emphasize jason's inability to escape the cycle.
or, another post breaking down the series, where i repeat myself a lot but also make a clearer argument.
there are three notable events that happen at the beginning: the subtle showcase of jay's internal conflict considering his approach toward killing (the very first encounter with duela and the monitor), jay reaching out to donna in crisis ("i guess I just wanted to be around someone else who might know how it feels…"), and finally – his helmet shattering. these scenes tell you: jason's direction as a character is changing, and it seems, for the better. he's about to abandon his trauma-based (no matter how ironic, it does remain tied to his trauma) identity, he is connecting with people, and he seems to be on a brink of understanding that his moral standing does not provide easy answers or solutions either.
and for the most part of the series, we see that narrative unfolding (even if a bit non-linear, still innocently convincing way). it is, in many ways, supported by bringing up features of his characterisation from the 80s. jason remains, of course, still unpleasant in ways typical for this era of writing, and is conflicted and disagreeable, which makes sense for his utrh/post-utrh personality. however, there are also details that bring us back to his original robin run and his cameos on ntt – we see him being responsible (e.g. #43 – suggesting to bring in other superheroes in crisis, even though he clearly is not keen on the idea of working with them), determined (#16: “isn’t that your super-power, stupid boy? too stupid to ever give up?” “maybe it is”), sensitive (half of the whole storyline, really), caring for gotham (gotham by gaslight) and people-oriented (as early as #51).
the issue that particularly signals that jason is an inherently good person and externalizes his internal conflicts regarding classic heroic vigilantism vs his cynical approach is #30, where we meet batman of earth-15 –  alt jason, whom our jason attempts to punch in the face.
and on topic of batman – jason is always gravitating towards batman. in gotham by gaslight jay looks delighted to see (the foreign) bruce and suggests checking with the local bat. then, earth-51 arc arrives.
earth-51 arc (#16 - #13) is a culmination of a promise of catharsis for jason. we have already seen him as batman, as a confirmation that a different life for him is possible. and here he has a chance to come to terms with his past and overcome it. he meets a version of bruce who has done exactly what he wanted him to do in utrh: killed the joker and the rest of the rogue gallery. what is most important – he is disappointed with this version of his father. we realise that jason, deep down, has an intimate and intuitive understanding of what batman stands for; and that he shares most of his values. this is a truth that you can't ignore especially since jay is the one to inspire this hollow, cynical version of batman to go out and fight in a seemingly lost battle.
and then batman dies. right in front of him.
this is a central moment of the narrative, for many reasons, most strikingly:
the symmetry:, a premise known from the lost days, becomes literal. this "the father had lost a son, and now the son had lost the father" is a cruel parallel to a death in the family and bruce's grief. jason's death created a gap between them that jay has been desperately trying to close, with no avail – because in bruce's mind, jason remains dead. now that jason is grieving bruce, the connection closes on both sides, and there's no way for either of them to reconcile the mourning with the reality of the other being truly alive. in this sense, the arc solidifies that jason can never come home.
no good deed goes unpunished. as i have mentioned before, so far jason is established as someone good at heart, but confused; and the reader intuitively assumes that his better, honest side will win. yet, the moment jason gives in to hope, it victimises and retraumatizes him. this event, again, brings to mind his own death, when he tried his best to save sheila and ended up paying the highest price for it. so, narrative-wise, jason is always punished for his kindness.
perhaps because of the nonchalant act that jason pulls off, many readers seem to miss that everything that happens after that arc is an upshot that follows logically from it.
jason's immediate determination to leave – and later a short period of indecision that ends up with his dramatic exit, pushing his team away, makes perfect sense when you consider what intense trauma he has just gone through. admittedly, i'm not a fan of the notion that he would give up at all (i think he's always ready to give up on himself, but not on the world), but then on the other hand, if there's anything that would cause it, narrative-wise, witnessing batman dying does sound like a good incentive for that. (it also has to be pointed out that jason seems to be confident that the rest of the team can go into the final battle without him anyway; it's not like he would go back to his earth not even knowing if said earth will exist tomorrow).
it's crucial to notice that following that crisis of faith (faith in fighting for the world) is followed by him raising up for the challenge again, but now... worse and even more confused. in the final confrontation with donna, jason antagonizes the superhero community, and when we see him at the end of the series (#1) his monologue indicates that he believes the capes to be naive. (significantly, he also focuses on bruce and offends the memory of 51 earth-bruce by calling him crazy; an action that can be seen as suppression of his own guilt and invoking, once again, a cruel symmetry considering bruce's engagement in victim-blaming after jason's death). this, once again, is consistent with the "no good deed" reading – jason diminishes superhero values because he has been continuously punished for living by them. (and unlike other superheroes, he doesn't have a support system nor skills in compartmentalization that would help him deal with this trauma) every leap of hope re-traumatised him. hence, it seems to be no surprise that jason decides to abandon the mask, and in the closing scene we see him without it. the promise of the shattered helmet is pushed to an extreme – jason does not get a new alt identity. he denounces the idea of superheroism completely.
and yet, what is ultimately subversive about the ending, is that jay is not truly a civilian and he does not abandon vigilante ways. he does the same thing. we see him without a mask, but he is clearly working a case. he might have rejected the symbolic dimension of the vigilante work, but he still carries the same delusional hope for bettering the world and protecting people that the superhero community does. only now, he is even more isolated and doesn't have any identity to go by (as he is still legally dead).
as such, the ending opens a new question regarding jason's understanding of himself and vigilantism, or rather the lack thereof. is it possible that vigilantism is really at the core of jay's trauma? and why, potentially, is it something that is so destructive for him as a character specifically? (and i have some answers for that, but i'm not going to get into it here, as it's already a very long post)
so, tldr; the genius of countdown is that it establishes jay as sensitive, determined, and fundamentally good (this is what the purpose of seeing him as batman is!), and then it brutally reminds the reader that jason’s tragedy is that on this specific earth, in this specific timeline, his love doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. the story goes on as it did; one way or another, jay is trapped in the cycle of his care ironically creating rifts between him and the others, and bringing him to his own downfall.

I’m fairly new to the fandom, but I do have a question if you can answer it! Why do people ship Daigo with Aoki / Masato? I tried looking to see if they’ve interacted before, but couldn’t find anything! Sorry for asking I’m just </3 dumb AND I LOVE YOUR ART OF THEM!!! Nerd looking ahhhhhh
hi ! welcome to the community i hope you're having a lovely time so far and ty for enjoyin my stuff :) no need for apologies it's a very fair question to have :]
i cant speak for everyone (all. ten people into masadai anyway) but Personally To Me i just think the idea of them together is very funny. thats quite literally it im afraid..
#snap chats#//twenty page google doc in the background// ignore that. it's mostly for comedic purposes#might also be my fault idk sorry about that. allegedly. idk ive had like three people tell me they started to ship them cause of me 🧍‍♂️#@mementoasts is another person who's drawn masadai and whose stuff i love and am inspod by .. i love their disneyland fic sm ...#there was another artist on twitter who posted a neat drawing of them but i cant remember who they were and i didnt bookmark it //screams//#recently there's been ANOTHER masadai artist ive started following on twitter - @wifekiryu. his account's n/s/f/w fyi before you go looking#he has a tumblr too @foxdies. i say cause i realized as much recently vjeaKLGJALKGJ#oh but I GUESS ill get deeper into why. /i/ personally ship masadai or whatever#first off they're opposing factions yet their character alignments Do Not Match their roles. stereotypically anyway#aoki who leads the 'surface' of society and is meant to be an admirable figure and someone 'just' when really. he sucks LMAO#though that's not atypical of politicians but just from a stereotypical This Is A Respectable Individual perspective of his role#daigo on the other hand leads the 'underbelly' of society- yk comprised of dangerous criminals and outcasts and whatnot#yet as we know him daigo's compassionate and considerate of his men- he doesnt treat them like tools like aoki does#if put in a room with the two daigo would be most people's choice of person to hang out with. probably open a trapdoor on aoki tbh#and i think thats really cool and epic i always love that kinda Subverting Expectations thing#theres also the fact they both started off like. edgy/angsty in the franchise and then brush up down the line#masato does a stronger 180. publicly. obviously but its still really funny they both have to get their act together#if you wanna talk about in-text reasons. there really is none LMAO I TELLS YOU masadai is pure crack#but if i wanted to pull a muscle reaching then there's daigo being on aoki's side while everyone else is on arakawa's during the funeral#im lying of course. mitsu was behind him. rgg tryna make me forget mitsu exist .... put him back in y8 ....#and ofc ichi joins that side to even out the seating but moving on another Goofy Reason is arakawa being like#'the chairman and my son are like p much the same age Surely he knows how he thinks :)'#and then i just think daigo being all smarmy about outsmarting aoki is really goofy and im choosing to interpret that as personal#they both also have issues with their dad. s. dad/s/. anyway.#tbh the google doc tag was a joke but i really could sit here and list every dumb reason why i think theyre funny together#like i started going over the tag limit so uhhhh yeah needless to say i have a lot of. dumb reasons 💀💀💀💀#one day ill use the main text for long rambles like this but todays not that day Point Is my imagination is rampant im afraid#so the short and sweet of it is I Think It's Funny. And They'd Be Terrible Together. Which Is Why It's Funny.#and the unfortunate part is anything i find funny i obsess over for a year so. //gestures to the mountain of bullshit thats my masadai tag/

this is so weird that these ppl are like "they only had 3 conversations, he wouldn't be 'haunted'" as though a whole person dying in a traumatic way isn't haunting enough by itself regardless if you even met that person?? I've cried over the deaths of people i had only seen in passing because someone dying, esp dying suddenly is haunting! the space a person takes up reverberates through their community even if you didn't know them that well. ok sorry for getting serious in your askbox and YES i know these are just fictional characters but like,, death is a serious thing and very small interactions between people can still be meaningful and affect you for life. it's ridiculous that this is causing such a huge upset it's not even that much of a hot take lmao 😭
i really didn’t think it was a hot take as well but here we are. but yes! i’m sorry to hear about your experiences with grief, and i relate a lot! i think it makes a character much more real and relatable to think about the ways in which they’re affected by the world going on around them, even if we don’t get to see those details on screen. even with other characters on the show i wonder like did robin know barb? they were in the same year at a small school and robin did tons of extracurriculars. did she mourn for her, does she still think about her? did lucas dustin and max mourn for hopper when they thought he was dead? he wasn’t a figure In their lives much but he was a constant safe adult figure during multiple dangerous events. yes the show never Shows us any of these things but part of the fun of partaking in fandom is wondering what goes on in the minds of the characters in the in between moments, and what they think about the people around them. i don’t understand the strict adherence to Only whats shown explicitly in the show and the general growing distaste i’ve seen people have for commonly held headcanons fans share. steve viewing himself as a protector and feeling guilt when things go wrong is really not a stretch to me, and i don’t really see the harm in people writing/talking about that. esp when steve’s writing gives him barely Any canon reactions to Anything!! he gets routinely horribly injured and still just runs around completely fine, but i think it’s perfectly reasonable to assume that Realistically he would be in pain. idk why ppl react so negatively towards that same concept but with his emotional wellbeing vs physical
