summary: austin has a strike of nerves when you take him to meet your parents.

“y/n, i don’t think i’ve ever been more nervous.” austin sighed as he finished getting ready.

“why? you’ve met so many incredible people in your life, my parents are gonna be bores compared to them. and you’ve spoken with them many times.” you said, patting his chest.

you and austin have been together for a little over a year, but you were finally taking him to meet your parents. due to the nature of his busy schedule, he had previously only been able to see and speak with them over the phone or via facetime. now that his work had finally calmed dow, you were able to take him to meet them in person.

“i know, but i feel like im going in blind.” he sighed. you took his hands in yours and squeezed them, rubbing your thumbs across the back of them.

“baby, you are a gem. you make such a good first impression on any and every one you meet. my parents already know you and they already love you. meeting them in person is going to be no different than all the other times you’ve spoken with them before.” you reassured him.

you moved your hands to his face, placing your palms against his cheeks. his fingers wrapped around your wrists as he took a deep breath, calming his nerves.

“i love you.” he said softly, smiling down at you.

“i love you.” you repeated, reaching up to press a kiss to his lips. “now, are we ready?” you asked, and he nodded.

“yes. let’s go.” he said, pressing a kiss to your forehead. you both put your finishing touches on your looks, grabbing your things and heading out. you drove to your parents home, and were immediately welcomed by hugs and kisses.

“we’re so happy to see you! both of you!” your mom said as you filed through the door.

“we’re happy too!” you expressed. you turned the attention to austin, smiling up at him before you spoke. “mom, dad, i’d like to formally introduce you to austin.”

“i feel like we already know each other fairly well, but it’s so great to finally meet you both in person.” austin said, extended his hand to shake. your mom immediately took him into her arms, hugging him tight.

“it’s so great to see you outside of a phone screen.” she said, smiling up at him. your dad expressed the same sentiment, squeezing austin’s shoulder.

as your visit continued, you gave austin a tour of your home as you waited for lunch to be served. this was the house you grew up in, and it held a lot of memories for you. it meant a lot to share them all with austin.

“i can’t believe they still have all this stuff in here.” you laughed awkwardly. your tour of the home had made its way into your childhood bedroom. fortunately it was more of a guestroom now, but there were still some of your things stowed away in the closet.

“awe, look at you!” austin giggled as he rummaged through the box full of pictures of you as you were growing up. “what an interesting sense of style.” he added, pointing out a picture of you in nothing but a diaper and a pair of shorts on your head.

“if baby y/n could see me now, they’d know adult y/n is much more sensible when it comes to clothes.” you laughed.

your tour of the home continued out into the backyard, towards the large pool where many summer parties took place.

“you see that grassy area behind the pool?” you asked austin, pointing in the general direction. he nodded and you started walking towards it. “i remember one time, i was having a graduation party, and a shit ton of people showed up. we used to have a huge tree here, and some random kid climbed onto the lowest branch, and jumped from it into the pool.”

“no way?” austin asked, eyes wide. you laughed and nodded.

“yes way. the very next weekend, my parents had it removed. they didn’t want to risk anyone getting hurt if they pulled another stunt like that.” you laughed.

“wow. sounds like it was a fun party though.” austin said, still laughing.

“my last big rager before going off to college. then i became an adult, met you, and tamed my wild ways.” you laughed, resting your head on austin’s shoulder.

“well, you’re still wild in the ways that count.” he teased. you felt his hand trail down to your butt, giving you a light squeeze.

“stop!” you giggled, swatting his hand away. “not at my parent’s house.” you laughed.

just then, you heard your dad call from the back door, letting you know that lunch was ready. since it was so nice outside, you set up your meal on the back patio.

while you ate, austin and your parents talked as if they were old friends. austin fell into conversation seamlessly, you couldn’t even believe that he had been nervous to come over.

he shared stories about his travels and his work, some memories of his childhood. you and your parents continued to share stories of you as a kid. everything was so wonderful, and you felt at ease knowing that three of the most important people in your life were getting along so well.

a little while, after your meal, you were in the kitchen with your mom helping her with the dishes. austin and your dad were outside in the backyard, clearing the table. you had a perfect view of the boys from the kitchen window, and you were watching austin intently.

your mom caught glimpse of you, and though she didn’t tell you at the time, she recognized the look on your face. it was one that she knew your father was on the receiving end of over the years of their courtship and marriage.

a look of complete infatuation over a man that you were in head over heels in love with. she watched as austin caught your glimpse through the window and waved at you. you blew him a kiss and turned your attention back to the dishes in the sink. you felt the heat rise to your cheeks, mainly because you knew that your mom had seen you blush.

“you two are too cute.” she laughed. “i’m really glad to see you so in love.”

“so in love, it’s actually pretty sickening.” you said. “i’m glad he made such a good impression on you and dad. he was so nervous this morning.”

“really? i wonder why? we’ve spoken many times before.”

“that’s what i told him! i reminded him that you both already loved him, and weren’t gonna put too much pressure on him about today.” you said.

“we do love him. he’s so great for you, and you two are so happy with you. makes both your father and i so happy to see you in such a great relationship.” your mom said, rubbing your arm. you smiled at her as the flush returned to your cheeks.

once all the cleaning was done, you and austin spent the rest of the afternoon with your parents, enjoying the company.

as the day came to an end, you and austin began getting ready to head back home. you exchanged your goodbyes, and you and austin made your way home.

“now, that wasn’t so bad, was it?” you asked as you and austin returned home.

“no, it wasn’t. i know i shouldn’t have been nervous, but i can’t help it. i know how close you and your parents are, i knew that i needed to make a good impression on them.”

“it’s not hard for you to make a good impression.” you said, smiling up at him. he smiled back and leaned down to press a kiss to your lips. you and him began getting ready to go to bed, climbing under the covers, snuggling into each other’s embrace.

“i love you so much.” austin said, pressing a kiss to your temple.

“i love you more.” you said softly. a comfortable silence fell through the room as the two of you began to fall asleep, the exhaustion of a busy day and the comfort of each other’s arms lulling you into a sweet slumber.

a sentimental rant about my time on dn tumblr bc its been well over a decade since ive been on this site and when i used to shitpost on here about it daily

there is smth very strange about being a part of peak death note tumblr back in the 2010s. like so many inside jokes that idk how many of you out there remember still (ex. lightbun) and not knowing if i might be a part of someone’s fond memories of those times back then too like some of you were for me. its very interesting and cool!! the fact that stupid edits of mine have made it onto heritage blogs now and i still get notifs on things i did a decade ago is hilarious

i still love death note and the fact that i got to meet the english voice actors in 22’ was a fever dream and even just over the weekend i still bought a l/light keychain from a convention. some fandoms just stick with you forever! i miss a few friends made back then, but i just hope theyre doing well now 🫶

im 27 now but i got involved in the fandom here when i was just 15. i made so many friends on here and had fun skype calls/livestreams/etc and it really did give me fond memories to look back on as a full grown adult. i moved out back in 21’, im getting married this year, and im into bg3 very much at the moment, but seeing dn fans still active warms a place in my heart and i dont think it will ever go away. im more active on twitter now and its so funny seeing all these new dn fan groups/circles on there and posting similar stuff i did 10+ yrs ago; some things never change and its a lot of fun to see scrolling by as an outsider.

Hey there anon!, I deeply understand your emotions. The hate that JM is going through is really bad and I have personally reported those accounts on twt etc. I even took a few snapshots of a tiktok video comment section... I will surely share them some day or another. Well then lets get started! I can't compare J-HOPE TO JM because they are my biases and both of them captivated my eyes, I just can't resist their flawless moves and they make a great dance unit... it would be incomplete without one of them + JK lol.

Most armies would say that JK is the golden maknae or he's the best overall in the team, well y'all took JM for granted, he's capable of doing so many things as well. Believe me or not, you should pay more attention on his facial expressions... he keeps it graceful. His fingers and angle are on point.

2. Loving member

Jimin is the member that I connect emotionally to, he's a sentimental person but he just doesn't show it you just have to pay attention on his behaviour and actions. He consoles many of the members and he provides comfort for them. The picture I attached below sets a great example.

1. BTS MAMA 2018... It was a tough year for them. They were close to disbanding, and the members were emotionally drained. My heart sank when I saw hobi breaking down in front of the crowd, you can find tons of fancams but you should take a close look at Jimin. He handled the situation very well and I love the way he gives his subtle touch of love towards the other members.

2. Taehyung grandma death announcement

I don't think that I need to explain the about the situation. Taehyung was really sad and felt guilty as he couldn't mention his grandma name. He broke down and Jimin immediately noticed him and ran towards him and just gave him little pat/huggie.

3. The Final

Even by looking at the picture you can see the comfort. You know that GCF-TOKYO song “there for you’ which implies that Jk means he will be there for jimin but "you gotta be there for me too” which means jimin gotta be there for him too. So yeah, JM just know jungkook well and he comforts Jk pretty well.It was so cute and i wished i was a part of the audience, i would have had a panic attack looking at them being so cute,fluff,intimate ON STAGE . Too bad it’s impossible now .

3.He's a badass [ athletic/ physical ]

Jimin has often talked about his experience in kendo,japanese fencing,Geomdo (검도, 劍道) “Way of the Sword” & hapkido. HAPKIDO: electid korean martial arts .It is a form of self-defense that employs joint locks, grappling, throwing techniques, kicks, punches, and other striking attacks.

.4.Academic excellence

After Namjoon Jimin has the most remarkable academic achievements in bts. He was one of the top students in junior high and was THE top student in Busan arts high school from ALL the departments. Fun fact Jimin IQ is 128! He was valedictorian too.

"When he was in junior high, he was one of the top students so Jimin's dad thought of enrolling him in a foreign language school. When he decided to go to an arts school, his teachers tried to stop him and were disappointed. He was accepted as the top of his class and attended Busan High School of Arts. He was doing really good. Then he switched to K-pop dancing and decided to be a trainee in Seoul. Teachers also tried to stop him and were disappointed. Park Jimin's life is really something.

36. Our Jimin didn't spend a lot of time preparing for the arts school. He was dancing popping when he decided to go to the arts school. He then learned modern dancing for a little over a year and was accepted at Busan High School of Arts as the top of his class even though he was a dance majorπ TT TT Every member in this group could've been successful at anything. That group is our pride, BTS.

60. Wow! If there's only one dance class, it's really incredible~ It's hard to get a top student from dance department. And it was achieved by a male student and it's Park Jimin TTTT

67. That's what I know too.. I was looking into Busan Arts School before and one class for dance is probably correct. It was mostly music and art classes that I remember. So from Busan Arts School, one out of ten classes and a male student from dance department getting accepted as the top of the class...the percentage is just incredible. I know that the dance class has about 40 students? And male students could be 25:15 or 30:10. Jimin broke through this and became the top.

Namjoon and Jimin really made a huge gamble. They could've went the easier way. Truthfully, if they went their way, they both would have succeeded. But becoming an idol and not knowing what their future will be and BTS not being successful from the beginning must have been really hard for them. But now I'm glad they're successful and they can realize they've made the right choice."

I really respect and idolize him. His personality is unique and its different.He's been through alot. Being kicked from BTS for 8+ times, the members ranking his looks as the last and being called fat and ugly, that's really disturbing. He starved and went on diets just to please the audience and to have a jawline. He works his ass of and he really deserves more. He's obviously cutie,sexy,lovely,sweet guy! He prioritize his career, family and fans before anything. He has absolute heavenly vocals (+crazyyy high notes) and he is the definition of stage presence. PARK JIMIN IS THE STANDARD. Solo toxic fans are definitely going to attack on me but this is the reality.Jimin deserves more and he's such a sweet person. He performs with his whole heart and expresses it wonderfully,he goes all out and each performance comes out from his soul. He loves to perform. I MEAN FOR THE LOOKS, JIMIN IS THE FIRST FOR JUNGKOOK~.

He once even wasn't able to attend THE GRAHAM NORTON SHOW due to his sore muscles.

TROMME - PART TWO: DEBUT MINI ALBUM [2015]

PART TWO was released on October 6th, 2015 by TROMME, the second subunit to come from Triptych. TROMME releases an EDM influenced mini album with dance-friendly beats and hype vibes. Despite the upbeat tones, their lyrical ability shines through, tackling subjects like criticism of societal norms in title track “SIMON SAYS”, “REAL MEN” and “SAY IT”, then switching to sentimental feelings in songs “LIPS” and “POLAROID”, never straying from their signature dance and EDM beats.

1] SIMON SAYS

Since their trainee days, the boys had a specific message that they wanted to get across from the moment they debuted. They really wanted to challenge society and the concept of masculinity, so they figured their debut song would be about how everyone is controlled, hoping that it would wake people up.

2] REAL MEN

The boys really went through a phase of questioning what masculinity really meant. They realized that as they were growing up, they were surrounded by hyper-masculine ideals and standards

SO they decided to use their voice to express what being a real man meant to them in this song. Mocks a lot of gender stereotypes through lyrics. They were criticized pretty heavily for this one.

3] LIPS

This song is really just about staring at your crushes lips and wanting to kiss them. There’s really no deep meaning here. Gender neutral so anyone can relate tho!! And alludes to the power of ~consent~

The first two songs were very heavy and opinionated and the boys are still young. They wanted to just have ONE thirst song okay??? LET THEM LIVE.

4] RUN IT

Another song that’s just for fun. About working hard to get where you wanna be in the world. If you wanna be something, work for it. Know that TROMME is in your corner and they believe in you AND your dreams!

Honestly they just wanna be supportive. Like they know what it’s like to have your dreams be criticized by others. They want Artychs to feel like they have the power to take charge of their life.

5] POLAROID

Reflecting on their trainee days and predebut moments, TROMME gets a little sentimental on this chill RnB track. They just wanna remember their roots and where they came from with this song.

The music video featured S.O.T and other old videos from their trainee days. Good times and good memories, you know?

6] SAY IT

All about learning how to speak your mind. They really want people to start standing up against injustices that they see in everyday life.

Discuss a lot of things like bullying and harassment, sexism and racism, and about how being silent on something means that you are taking the side of the oppressor. All bottled up in a dance-able track!

△ THIS ERA.

We got center Eli this era, which will lowkey be the last time he’s truly center because he realized that it’s too much being both a leader and a center position.

Despite Eli being center... Teo had a viral fancam which was like... the first time a Triptych member got a ton of attention from a fandom that wasn’t artych.

The fanbase was super prepared for TROMME’s debut, so they were able to pull 8.5 million views in the first 24 hours! Which is! Crazy! Do these fans even sleep??

Because of the dedicated streaming and voting, TROMME won 3 music show awards over the course of their promotional period.

PART TWO peaked at #5 on Melon, which was huge.

The Triptych TV episode where S.O.T and TROMME were reunited after being debuted idols? Everyone teared up a little.

They got a music video for their B-Side song “POLAROID” which they got to film and direct all on their own in 100 hours (it was on an episode of Triptych TV).

“POLAROID” became a fan favorite, especially because the boys added footage in from their trainee days and S.O.T was in the video as well.

This was the era where Eli was outed as a BTS fanboy and the fandom lowkey thought it was so funny because it explained why Eli was bowing at like a 95 degree angle when he interacted with BTS at music shows and stuff.

A ton of memes were birthed from this era because TROMME are reaction KINGS. They all don’t have a poker face, so their facial reactions are relatable and raw.

Which means it was really obvious to fans that Asa and Teo weren’t getting along. Better known as The InHiko Fight of 2k15.

Basically, they were caught giving each other the stink eye as they walked towards their managers car after a schedule. Asa rushed ahead so he could get into the car before Teo. No one knows why they were fighting... but TROMME does.

Basically, Asa was a little shit this era. He really had no faith in Eli or his leadership skills. Teo defended Eli and Asa was like “damn this bitches are conspiring against me!!” so there was a lot of unnecessary tension. It all got cleared up, just like how S.O.T’s tension cleared up, but towards the end of their promotions, things were a little awkward.

△ ERA FASHION.

Back at it with the color-coded fits!!

Yes, primary colors were still mandatory for stage outfits.

And does HBH have a sponsorship deal with Doc Martens? Because that’s all Triptych seems to wear.

Their debut outfits were... ugly. They wore them a couple of times and people were like “jesus christ, can they PLEASE stop wearing that!”

But also they’re iconic in the way that NCT’s Cherry Bomb outfits are iconic. You’ll never get the image of TROMME dancing around like Crayola factory workers out of your brain.

The boys wore women’s blouses to award shows all the time. They legit don’t care. “Clothing is clothing.” - Eli, 2015.

Hair:

Eli had curly light brown hair.

Teo had a black undercut sjkdsg this is why bitches be feral.

Asa had black hair that was pretty long, like not to his shoulders but like,,, below his jaw im bad at describing hair

△ FANDOM BEHAVIORS.

Maybe it’s because a good chunk of the fanbase is made up of straight women, but Artychs started going absolutely feral or maybe it’s because Asa and Zim’s combined feral energy started rubbing off on them

Artychs literally forgot how to act this era. They started being so thirsty it was like “woah, what happened to the sweet artychs that treated S.O.T like queens?”

They lowkey sexualized TROMME so much it was gross. Like the boys are out here trying to stop toxic masculinity and you’re making thirst trap vine edits of them?

TROMME stans started beefing with S.O.T stans. The fandom was too busy fighting each other to really have any other outside beef.

On the bright side, artychs became a very dedicated fanbase during this era and showed other fandoms that they know how to vote.

Thanks! :) I’m above all extremely happy to see people on this site being so kind and supportive in time of need, it’s a human quality that will never get enough praise! I’m also really sorry to hear about your problems. :( I send you lots of love, I can imagine how difficult it must be for you, but I’m sure you're strong and coping❤️

As for your actual question - that’s some truly excellent and interesting timing, considering that I rewatched BoRhap (with @incblackbird) literally three days ago. :P It was already my third rewatch, and while I enjoyed the movie overall, I liked it quite significantly less than upon the last time I saw it. Of course, there’s been gazillion discourses about BoRhap, whether it’s genius, extremely evil, etc., but since it’s such a broad topic (and I think some of my opinions could potentially outrage certain parts of the fandom), this time I’m going to stick to purely cinematic terms.

Needless to say, the soundtrack is excellent - with music such as Queen’s you don’t really have to do much, but they made a good choice of songs, alternating between their best known hits (We Will Rock You, Somebody to Love, Bohemian Rhapsody) and songs to fit the narrative (Doing All Right, Now I’m Here, Who Wants to Live Forever, Love of my Life). It’s practically impossible to leave the screening of BoRhap without at least one Queen song stuck in your head.

The cast was overall very good, too. My personal favourites in terms of acting were Gwilym Lee (who I liked even more than Rami), Rami Malek, Lucy Boynton and Allen Leech - I think they did a great job with their roles as they were written (whether their characters were well written or not is a subject for a whole another discussion). All the side characters were well acted, too (Mike Myers, Meneka Das and Aaron McCusker, for instance, I found particularly memorable), but I must admit I wasn’t a big fan of Joe Mazzello and Ben Hardy, but even they weren’t bad. So, acting is definitely one of the strongest points of the film.

Moving on, I also think they did a great job when it comes to costumes (Brian lending some of his old clothing definitely helped) and make-up (except for Roger’s wigs, perhaps); the choreography and stage movement for the characters were super well done, too - and it definitely wasn’t an easy task!

Now, let’s discuss cinematography. I will talk about editing in a separate paragraph, so for now I’m gonna stick to other aspects. The composition of shots struck me as rather mediocre, nothing particularly exceptional in either good or bad way, it was pretty basic but rather correct. Of course, there were some shots I really liked, but if I were to start adding screenshots the post would become way too long. XD The colours I really liked, especially in the musical scenes - they were vivid and lovely, and they used a combination of colours that I tend to appreciate in cinema, like various shades of blue and red. Finally, the camerawork - for dialogue scenes it was correct; again, rather average with some use of handheld camera which served no particular dramatic purpose, but it wasn’t nowhere near very bad, also it’s quite a common thing in modern biopics I would say. Handheld camerawork isn’t bad in default, but my comment largely comes from my personal preferences: in most cases I don’t really like it, especially when it’s particularly shaky. Then, there are scenes in BoRhap which display excellent camerawork, namely Live Aid and We Will Rock You scenes. If most scenes were filmed like that, I would give the movie a higher rating.

Before I move to the worst (imo) cinematic aspects of the movie, let’s have a look at writing. It is probably the most divisive thing in the fandom - people seem to either adore or absolutely loathe it; my stance lies somewhere inbetween. The first time I saw the film (I’m gonna remind you that I’ve seen it four times), I had certain objections, but the script didn’t bother me all that much; I was mostly simply having fun in the cinema. With every next watching, the experience was getting gradually worse, but even now I don’t hate the movie. Yes, some of the dialogue is cheesy, trite and makes me cringe a bit - certain parts of the script definitely end on an “overly sentimental” territory, I can’t deny that. Knowing quite a lot about Freddie, Queen and their stories, I generally think they deserve a better script; some characterisation was a bit offputting and chronology was all over the place. Having said that, I understand where some of those narrative choices come from, as scripts for mainstream movies require oversimplification of events, archetypes, and patterns. And quite frankly, I don’t think BoRhap differs any drastically from most modern biopics; it’s not a masterpiece, but - in my opinion - it’s also not bad overall. Regardless the flaws of the script, the movie still managed to emotionally affect a huge, if not major, portion of viewers, entertain and move them, and honestly? I think that was pretty much the point. Btw, there were some lines that I really loved, like “Puritans in public, perverts in private”, and I still think that their decision to cut from Live Aid performance to Ray Foster’s grim face during We Are the Champions was the funniest shit ever. XD Would BoRhap’s script benefit from sticking to historical accuracy? I’m gonna say yes, I think so - the scenes that were the closest to actual events are definitely the strongest - but this approach would require tons of changes, including narrowing down the narrative scope and probably the characters, too. Also, a lot of people keep forgetting that this is not an arthouse, niche film and therefore resorts to narrative and cinematic choice that compromise between satisfying the fans and the newbies; it’s meant to tell a (simple) story and entertain, not educate and provoke existential and philosophical debates. Still, I think the script could have been done a bit better, because some scenes (the tour “Now I’m Here” montage) feel a bit...random?

Finally, the infamous editing. I totally agree that it was one of the most undeserving Academy Awards that year, because some scenes were simply atrocious, with their unmotivated and overly fast cuts and unreasonably ridiculous face that doesn’t fit the dialogue scenes, and those are honestly the worst when it comes to pacing and editing. I think the editing is the worst aspect of BoRhap; but even here, I could point at some examples of pretty amazing editing (Oscar-worthy? Not necessarily, but definitely very good); again, I’m gonna bring up Live Aid and “We Will Rock You” scenes, especially the latter, because less people talk about it. I already mentioned that it has some really nice camerawork AND colours, but also the editing is actually really cool, because it’s cut to the music! Which makes me think: “what a shame!”, because if they went with different editing choices, the movie would be affected in a positive way. The way we have it, it’s either a hit or miss (sadly, mostly miss), and the badly edited scenes are pretty striking, so the ones that are done nicely are unfortunately a wasted potential.

Okay, this is already waaay too long, so I’m just gonna finish with a few general remarks. Well, despite BoRhap’s flaws, I still like and enjoy it. With every screening slightly less, but enjoy it anyway. I don’t think any amount of discourse will ever take away my positive experiences and memories from seeing it twice in cinema. It sparked my previously dormant love for Queen and united me with some people in the fandom and in real life; making this movie made Brian and Roger happy; as a result, I like this movie. It brings back a lot of positive recollections, which sometimes is more important than critical discussions. And boy, do I adore those - I’m often critical and I adore analysing stuff academically; but I think that not all daily interactions require those and depending on who’s asking and what about, I’m capable of switching between the two options. If somebody asks me in 25 years whether I remember the times of BoRhap’s release, I’ll be far less likely to say “yeah, the editing sucked and writing was cringy, I remember the discourse on tumblr and instagram” than “Yes, I remember that chilly evening in December when I had a really fun time and ended up with 10 Queen songs stuck in my head”, because the latter is the experience I want to remember.

Ok let's get over this.

This fucking chapter? With the heartwrenching title? This is saddest thing I've read in YEARS.

I'll do a brief commentary of every chatacter.

Reiner: he's done. So done with everything. The only thing that keeps him going is saving those kids and like Bert 5 years ago, to put and end to everything. If they manage to stop Eren and Zeke in his mind everything will be alright. That's why he fought so desesperatly until the end, reafirming his words back from 5 years ago about Eren's possesion of the FT. When he sees Falco's transformation and that Zeke is apparently out of comission, he thinks the mission is over and his last act is to try and save Falco. He's at peace with his choice. Sadly for him Porco beats him to it, and seeing Porco sacrifice himself just like Marcel is the final nail: he snaps. I've never see him like that and wasn't ever aware he possesed that kind of determination. We'll see what's to become of him in the future.

Porco: oh god Porco. Finally touching Reiner, who was touching the FT, allowed him a glimpse into his brothers memory and to at last understand Marcel's feelings and the sheer love he had for him. He manipulated the military just to spare him and even died trying to protect other people. Not only that, he realised one of the reasons he saved Reiner is bc of guilt; after all Reiner was only in that island bc he couldn't bear to see his little brother enduring that burden. When Zeke and Colt are conversing and Zeke states that he totally understands where Colt is coming from, he's deeply shaken. That's why he decides to save Falco. He has the power to, and is once and for all free of all the doubts he had concerning his own brother and his own place in the world. He could had let Falco eat Reiner, but choose to offer up himself. I shed bitter tears for him, bc it was not only very brave but also such a caring gesture; just as his brother chose to save him and later Reiner, and witnessing Colt trying to comfort Falco until the end, he decided that saving Falco was the right thing to do.

Zeke. Agh. Everything about Zeke hurt me. How can someone commit such vicious acts and at the same time remain so utterly human about his decisions? It was portrayed marvelously. Even empathizing with Colts feelings and caring about his former comrades, he still makes the choice to scream and complete his mission. His worry for Eren beyond just a part of his goals has always been clear to me, but I dare anyone to read this chapter and say that Zeke doesn't give a fuck about Eren. He loves him. And seeing himself in Colt and even Eren in Falco shook him so much. He felt remorse for what he was about to do, and decided to sacrificing them still despite of that. Zeke is an amazingly complex character and I can't wait to see what's he going to do now. Did you all see his face and his frantic attempts to reach out to Eren? The sheer sorrow in his eyes when Gabi pulled the trigger? Im devastated along with him.

Colt. I don't know what to say about Colt. Just thinking about him has me sobbing. How he begged and plead with his former mentor to please spare his brother. At that point he didn't give two flying fucks about the war and eldia and marley. The only thing he wanted was his brothers safety. He tried to appeal to Zeke, to remind him that the only reason he had joined up is bc he didn't want his family, a family of former traitors, to be titanized. And after everything he tried that exact scenerio would still happen. He even clarifies that the only thing he wants is time to get Falco away from hearing range, just a few minutes. After all Zeke would never harm children. Sadly, even though his feelings reached Zeke, it's all for nothing. He failed. And even then he spent his last seconds hugging his brother and reassurring him. If that was the end he wasn't about to let go of Falco and leave him alone. He was going to die, and Falco was about to turn into a mindless titan, but he could still share one last embrace with his little brother. After all what's the point anymore if Falco is a gonner? Excuse me I'll never stop crying about this. Colt loved him so deeply and still he couldn't save him how is this ok?????

Eren.

Oh Eren.

A quick check into my profile would tell you that he's my absolute favorite character. As you can guess this chapters been hell to me. There's no much I can say about him without ugly sobbing all over my phone, but here's a few things. Eren cares. His face when he noticed the 104th was out there fighting. His terror that anything bad would happen to one of them again. His expression when he heard Colts pleas. Im 100% sure he's gonna be alright but I didn't need to see a panel of his head getting blown up. It's the stuff of nightmares for me. I love him the best, and seeing him getting hurt like that or even terrified like in the rest of the chapter hits me ten times stronger than if the same thing was happening to any other character. I've already cried rivers over him. And I pray with all my strenght next months delivers swift answers regarding his fate bc Im physically unable to bear this anxiety and sorrow for longer than that.

I could talk about Pieck or the Military of Paradis. I could talk about Armin, Mikasa, Connie and Jean and how great it was seeing them in action again. I could even talk about Floch and how he's again the sole survivor of his squadron in the same fucking city. Even Yelena's creepy panel merits tons of analysis.

Instead of that Id like to end this post talking about Gabi.

Gabi is a character that always made me uncomfortable bc I can't bear the idea of child soldiers. It's sickening and disgusting and all manners of fucked up. Shes a brainwashed child soldier to boot. What a joy. Violence is second nature to her thanks to her enviroment and her training. Beneath all that tho, she is a selfless girl that only wants to save her people.

This chapter we see her grabbing a fucking horse to help Falco get away from the range of Zeke's scream. I teared up right then. After that she witness Falco's transformation along side with Colts death. And then Porcos death. When she sees a chance to stop the man that's the center of all this conflict, filled with grief, she grabs it. That is the same man that wrecked her hometown and caused the deaths of her friends. The same man that's right now running towards Zeke, for who she has mixed feelings bc even if he's betraying them she knew him. It's easier to pour all her pain into Eren, someone she doesn't have sentimental ties with. That's why she shoots. It's easy to understand and even if her sudden mastering of a new gun model without repercutions raises a few eyebrows, that's all there is to it. That a child is so used to violence to make the decision so quickly fills me with pain.

That's all y'all I'll be over here crying my eyes out and praying for Eren.

THE POINT IS: (two of) the physical things Marinette gave Adrien (s1) are symbolic of how she's affected change in his life up to Glaciator—they came together in one thing that’s entirely his, which he used to return her sentiments. Of course he’s the verbose one, so he actually said as much, ”You’re my best friend too.”

contrast balcony scenes with antibug (similarly about their partnership, had marinette interact w chat though he didn’t know). cn stays still, listens, even is literally stopping to smell the roses he brought on balcony; prev. very theatrical, focused entirely on giving the flower he took from a vase, presented at an inappropiate time (on the job). note the flower was not a rose- they even made a point of having lb put it in a vase of roses to show it wasn’t one.

though petals also resemble valentine, they’re sparse and theres like two layers what basic shit is that, also leaves on either side. rose has a TON of petals DENSELY PACKED you weak-ass flower. what even is that? is that a literal pansy? okay no pansies have like a dark thing going on near the centre but whatever that is is a figurative pansy. you know what it doesnt even resemble the valentine which folded out to four arcs theres three per layer. fake ass fool.

anyway the stem is symbolically tied to the charm which mari held in her left hand, the loop was to her left, the leaf is to the left, she reached out earlier on her own balcony with her left hand to chat’s right, rose is held in chat’s right—it’s like an insane rube goldberg machine of plot devices to make an indirect hand holding. take that, anime. you think you’re hot shit with your indirect kisses just cause they share a canned coffee.

favorite song from each unit?

Vocal: HABIT!! Oh my gosh i LOVED this song from the instant that I heard it. Its one of those songs (to me) that you just have to stop, close your eyes, and listen to it when it comes on. I’m obsessed.

Hip Hop: Trauma. I loved the beat and the meaning behind the words. It is a truly powerful song and it also just sounds really good. It really showcases all of their abilities very well.

Performance: Highlight. Its a flipping bop y’all. Also, the video was amazing af and I am just constantly astounded at how incredibly talented they are.

when did you know your bias was your bias?

I want to say that it was right off the bat when I got into svt. I got a good feel for all their personalities pretty quick when watching some of their variety shows and other meme materials, and I figured out very quickly that Shua was going to be my ultimate bias.

what is your most prized possession?

ooooh thats tough. I have a lot of things that I am very sentimental over (bc im an emotional mess). I have a lot of things that I hold very dear to my heart from different people that have made differences in my life. If I really HAD to choose something, I would say my memories. They made me who I am and I really treasure that.

if you could live in any of seventeen’s mvs which one would you choose?

Oh gosh they have so many good ones. I have to choose Healing, Pretty U, or Clap. I loved Healing bc it was very fun and upbeat and really showcased how close they all are as a group. I loved Pretty U bc it just looked fun af and stuff. And Clap bc I loved the design and the colors and stuff.

favorite album? (not only limited to seventeen)

Im going to do one for svt and the one not svt/kpop bc i am an indecisive person. For svt, I think it would be Al1 or Clap because those are the first big comebacks that I was here for and they have a lot of meaning to me. Outside of that, I am a very big Twenty One Pilots fan, so the Goner album is one of my all time favorites because of the relatable theme of the songs and the meaning of each of them.

what do you aspire to be?

I aspire to be better, if that makes sense. I don’t really know where I am going to go career-wise, but i know that I am determined to make a difference. I know that perfection is impossible to obtain, so I will just do my best to be a better person instead.

How often have I babbled on about the importance of keeping the romance alive in your relationship? Im not trying to be annoying or repetitive, but it is important! I am a firm believer that religiously practicing date night on a regular basis is crucial to relationship health. Let me be mores specific. But for those of us that arent rolling in the dough, these internet deals can still be a splurge. Dont worry, I am here to tell you that you can still have a date night every two weeks (or once a month, whichever you fancy) at home and on a budget. Here are some creative ways to make your date night romantic, entertaining, and low cost.

1. Living Room Camping

This is one has sentimental value to me. When my fianc and I first started dating I was going through a rough time in generally and the bad days at work didnt help. When Id had a particularly crappy day, I would come home to find a good old fashioned fort in the living room. The outside was made with sheets and furniture; inside he made a comfortable cushioned floor using pillows and comforters. We would take refuge inside the fort and forget about all of our problems. Dont knock it until you try it! Use your fireplace or some candles as a mock campfire, roast some marshmallows and tell ghost stories. How does that not sound like a good time?

2. Outdoor Dining

If youve got a nice or even just a clean backyard, use it! Set up a small table for two outside complete with candles and a bottle of wine. Put on some nice background music and have a good old fashioned backyard dinner. Its very romantic. Unlike eating on patio of a restaurant with twenty other couples sharing your moment, this makes for a very private and intimate setting. Think your backyard or patio doesnt have the ambiance needed for outdoor dining? An easy fix is to hang cheap outdoor lights. Its amazing how one detail can work wonders on setting the mood.

3. Boudoir Photo Shoot

Okay, so if you are a little more on the reserved side (cough, prude, cough), this one may not be your cup of tea, but hear me out before you rule it out completely. Date night is supposed to be all out coming together with your significant other and getting intimate. I think this is pretty intimate, not to mention fun for all parties involved. Start by choosing a designated back drop like a free wall, a hanging sheet, the bed, etc. Pick a few different pieces of lingerie to change into. Give your guy a camera (prob best if its not a camera phone, dont want these pictures accidentally getting posted on Facebook or Instagram), and let him take control of the photo shoot. Youre the model, he is the director. Enjoy (insert winky face here).

4. Wine Tasting

If you and your guy are wine-os, youll love this one. Use your kitchen table, bar, or coffee table. Set out a few different bottles of wine and glasses. Make sure to set out some food that pairs well with what youll be drinking, think cheeses, veggies, bread, etc. No food equals getting drunk way too fast, passing out early, and a nasty hangover. That being said, take your time as you would if you were in Napa on a rustic vineyard. Swirl, sniff, sip, and then discuss your opinions on flavor and stuff. Obviously I am not well educated on wine specifics, but you dont have to be to enjoy this. Its just you and your boo, no wine snobs to make you feel dumb. If you are a wine snob, great! Youll have fun with this one too and there wont be any amateurs to slow down your night. Remember to light some candles and put on background music!

5. Game Night

Game night can go one of three ways and Ill leave it up to you to try one or all three. The first is nostalgia game night. Choose your favorite childhood board games (mine are Candy Land and Operation) and laugh at the memories over a bottle of wine or your favorite beer. The second is adult game night. This includes a more grown up version with games like Cards Against Humanity. The third is x-rated game night. Go to your local sex shop or search online for an intimate adult game. There are tons to choose from involving blind folds, melted chocolate, and roll of the body part dice. Whether you choose PG, x-rated, or all three, game night with your handsome babe is sure to be loads of fun.

6. Project/Craft Night

With all of the hours we spend pinning cool crafts on Pinterest, this option seems very appealing. But please, for the love of god, do not make your significant other do something he will hate like knitting or scrap-booking. Choose a house project youve been meaning to get around to or a fun project you can both be involved in. Make sure this is an activity that interests BOTH of you, not just you and not just him. Youll also make sure this is something that is more fun than it is hard work, remember you are doing this as a date. Order a pizza or take out and of course you can add alcohol to the mix if you fancy. Put on your favorite Pandora station and get to work. My man and I did this as a date night with a painting I had seen on Pinterest. It was a hand painting in which each family members hand was in a different color and the prints were all over the canvas, overlapping each other. It looked really cool, so we tried it and of course included the dogs. It was interesting night to say the least, dogs and paint can get messy. No matter, now we have a somewhat decent piece of handmade art to hang in our home.

7. Karaoke

Yes, Blake and I have done this and it was so much fun! We didnt plan on it, it just happened. We started one night with tacos and margaritas, an hour later we were taking turns on the Play Station 3 mic and singing our little hearts out. A bit of heads up, this may not be the greatest idea if you have close proximity neighbors who dont like crappy singing and loud music. If you can, do this! Such a great way to let loose with the one you love. Not into singing? No problem, make it a dance party instead. Im not a video game person, not in the slightest, but karaoke and dancing games are perfect for this. We have Sing Star and Just Dance for Play Station. If you dont have these games but want to try them, check your local rental store or RedBox. You wont regret this one!

8. Spa Session

I know what youre thinking, my manly man wont even get in a bubble bath. First of all, that sucks for him. Second of all, he will end up truly enjoying this one if he approaches it with an open mind. Okay ladies, dont torture your men! No tweezing, waxing, or anything else that is painful and/or will change his appearance. Thats how youll send him running and screaming out of the bathroom. Instead, make this a relaxation effort, not a make over. Run a warm bubble bath with salts and scented oils. While youre waiting for the tub to fill, start with a face mask. I like the warming ones, they immediately send my mind into relaxation mode. Help your beau apply and rinse off his mask. Slip into the tub together and just relax and talk. For added romance, carefully place a few candles safely around the tub and bring a glass of wine for each of you. Just dont get so relaxed that you fall asleep, because after the tub youll want to move it into the bedroom and take turns giving each other back massages. Stop by a body shop like Bath & Body Works for some aromatherapy massage oil. Best spa session ever.

9. Cooking Class

I know I said in home and I meant it. When I say cooking class I dont mean attending an actual cooking class, I mean doing your own cooking class with just the two of you. Find a recipe from a cooking magazine, book, or show that sounds delish to both of you but neither have any experience with cooking such a dish. You will work together, sharing the tasks at hand. And I mean for you to cook an actual gourmet meal, not Mac & Cheese from a box, no matter how much you crave it sometimes. This is your date night activity, so have some fun with it. Put on your aprons and help each other chop, season, and stir the ingredients. When youve completed your edible masterpiece, its time to dig in. Sit down to a table set for two and cheers each other to your cooking accomplishment.

10. Star Gazing

Its back outside for this date night. Sometimes all you need is star-filled night sky to add that little extra bit of romance. If you have a cozy backyard (and ideally a fire pit to keep you warm), take a thermos filled with hot cocoa or spiked cider, a blanket, and your loved one to do some star gazing. Do some research before hand and make a game of trying to spot certain constellations. If you have a stable flat roof, set up some lawn chairs and enjoy the view from up there. Be careful getting on and off your roof! No back yard or accessible roof? Take a stroll down to your local park. Odds are, it will be deserted after dark and the jungle gym style toys make for great seats.

No matter what you choose to do on your date nights, make sure you are focused on each other. Make it about you two and nothing else. Hopefully Ive inspired you to try something new with your partner in crime. Maybe one of these unique date nights will start a spark and youll be truly glad you branched out. If nothing else, simply relish in the company of your loved one.

so i just finished virtues last reward and im kinda angry because now life is strange kinda makes sense

DISCLAIMER: so its been like.... what.... two or three years since i even watched someone play it? im going off of what i remember which means POSSIBLY i didnt remember an explanation or didnt pay proper attention to it, so be warned

DISCLAIMERx2 COMBO!!!: this is probably some old ass news but even in the height of its popularity i kinda came into the story late and even then i wasnt crazy about it. it was good. i really enjoyed it. but it was easier for me to kind of passively mock it for having bullshitty trumped up time logic. the reason for this AND FOR MY FIRST DISCLAIMER MOSTLY is because the game doesnt really explain it to you or why anythings happening. which is fair i guess. max isnt really a time travel geek or a scientist and short of having mr “time guardian” come out and exposition dump there wasnt much to do. maybe if warren was our protag he wouldve figured it out but i cant really blame max for NOT. especially since it was reality for her. to us we can examine it objectively and understand the rules governing it as we observe the limitations. i mean for all she knew she couldve gone back in time three times and it be over and she could never do it again ever

for my explanation ill be referencing 999 and its sequel zero escape virtue’s last reward as well as homestuck (because for all intents and purposes it makes intelligent use of time travel and with colloquialisms that make it sort of easier to digest than just abstract names.) naturally some spoilers may apply to all three as well as life is strange (obviously)

if you boil the story of life is strange to its most core element, itll start to make sense. life is strange in its simplest form is this: “max caulfield solves a murder/kidnapping mystery.” everything else that happens is just kind of extra or a direct component to that outcome.

i would often complain about how max could get mr jefferson arrested and save kate with her time travelly powers but not chloe when she couldnt have done anything about those things without her power either. i was under the assumption that her abilities were an anomaly and the universe was trying to fix itself by voiding out her effects on the timeline (ie saving chloe). but in retrospect thats kind of really dumb!! why make a story where the protagonist can travel through time but then have the story ultimately be about the universe trying to make it so that everything was the same as before??? it’s silly!! so heres the thing: it was not about that. it was about max getting the information she needed to ultimately solve the mystery (and save kate i guess. im not sure how contingent her survival was to the timeline being “alpha” but if you want to say God or the Sentient Timespace Universe [”Skaia”] were in control of the outcomes and thus dictating maxs actions mayb u could say They wanted to reward kate for being such a devout follower??? maybe her life or death was ultimately inconsequential to the outcome and it couldve gone on with or without her and max was just a good person and saved her. its hard to tell.)

in homestuck there are doomed timelines. timelines wherein something goes wrong that was NOT preordained by skaia (the self-aware universe, essentially, trying to maintain homeostasis in itself) or that directly cause a paradox. one example is davesprite. an action that causes a doomed timeline is john getting himself killed (with a little help from terezi) which leads to a strand where rose and dave are stranded in their game for months. dave then goes back along the timeline to the point that determined whether or not it became doomed. although incidentally, it was the act of him going back in time to stop john from killing himself that splintered the timeline between doomed and alpha (the right one)

thus the doomed timeline was necessary for the alpha timeline to be sustained. and thereafter it ceased to be. in other doomed timelines it either disappears entirely as with davesprites timeline, or everyone just DIES like in the one where vriska and gamzee collectively get everyone killed. it’s the price u pay for not playing the part the universe wrote for u

so in order for max to go along her story to figure out mr jefferson was.... who he was, she had to slip through doomed timelines. timelines that ultimately purged themselves if they went on too long by the means of the big storm. something similar happens in 999 where a certain character gets sick if the story goes in a direction that would lead to a paradox and cause them to not have existed. and if the timeline becomes too far gone, they vanish entirely. this is basically the role of the storm. its not to eradicate the stuff max had done with her powers because she “shouldnt have had them” but because that timeline shouldnt have BEEN to begin with! max was SUPPOSED to have her powers. whether it was all morphogenetic fieldy sciencey reasoning or if “skaia” gave them to her to solve this case, who knows, but its not really all that important.

i could probably explain some of this more easily by using the name of paradoxes, but i forgot most of the official names for them and my computers being kinda silly so i dont feel like taking the time to look them up srry

anyway

max alters the timeline by stopping chloe from dying. they then go on this great big adventure where chole is the ONLY person who could have possibly helped max unravel the mysteries. which i think is fair to say she was the ONLY person to be capable of it bc of her stepdad and her rebellious attitude!

so the two go on adventures and discover what i figured out within the first five minutes of story: MR JEFFERSONS A HORRIBLE PERSON

and chloe dies a bunch along the way because while shes needed to solve the mystery, shes STILL doomed. its like in final destination. you can run from death and avoid a few attempts on your life for a WHILE, but youre still slated for death and gonna die eventually. im not sure it was the universe trying to clear her out like an antibody so much as it was... she was just more susceptible to danger. it also could have been to make maxs powers stronger. the 999 series puts an emphasis on the psychic-y powers being strengthened and honed through LIFE THREATENING SCENARIOS

now in both 999 and vlr (i havent referenced the latter nearly as much as i thought i would!) the events of the games essentially unfold because certain characters figure out that... well... thats what happens!!! so they recreate the event so that it DOES happen so that they CAN have these abilities. they hone their abilities to see and interact through time so that they can avoid MAJOR DISASTERS and fix them, all the way establishing the very parameters that allow them to do so in the first place!

so small summary:

max gets the power to swap out her consciousness from a certain place on the timeline. she does so to save chloe (as a good person and for sentimental purposes) chloe proves to be the key to discovering the mystery behind the shady shit going down at the school she was still ultimately supposed to die though so she dies a bunch along the way because thats just what she does best by working alone doomed timelines where chloe is the only one who can help unearth the mysteries (and to be fair she deserved to be there too since it DID involve her ex-girlfriend) max finally discovers mr jefferson is basically straight up evil and can go back and use the information from her travels to bring him to justice chloes still supposed 2 die tho so shes either wiped out with the timeline by means of the storm that fucks up everyone elses life or she dies unceremoniously in the bathroom because one way or another: SHE WILL DIE max then uses the information to expose jefferson. its kinda weird but i guess paradoxically makes sense that the alpha timeline dictated that for life to progress properly, max had to just MAGICALLY know it was him. (maybe it meant to import me into the game so i couldve called him out as soon as i saw him. or maybe it was only one option. like kate living or not. max can expose him and save the day OR it can go on and be terrible. but that one doesnt have any justice in it so.....) kate lives and thats important? maybe?

basically it was not about trying to undo maxs “rulebreaking” powers

but it was about ENABLING them to do the job the universe/”skaia” (not that life is strange even.... HAS a skaia, but its easy for terminology) had planned for her. which was to fuck over jefferson HARD

the only problem is that to my memory the game never explains this is whats happening. and so when chloe dies youre like “wow nothing mattered.” but the game was never about saving chloe. it was always only ever about solving a kidnapping/murder mystery

it was ALWAYS about that

chloe was never going to stay alive. ever. the final choice was whether or not to return to the alpha timeline or not stay with her as an act of love and get wiped out along with the timeline

but the game doesnt explain this. or how the time travel powers came about or how they work or what they are AT ALL (from what i remember) so it all just seems convoluted and bullshitty

but in reality there IS something driving it. it only took me playing two other games to actually understand what that was.

which is why im not sure i can actually give the writers credit for it because i dont even know if THEY knew what was up or if they just made it up and it was just convenience i was able to apply meaning to it

the fact they (again as i remember) didnt address it in the game makes it really suspect though! and it makes it hard to support them as having done something intelligent. especially when it ended up with tons of players feeling cheated because it fell in line with popular “the illuion of choice telltale style” game lines. so when the final moment came it confused them because nothing informed them that it was ALWAYS a quest of futility and despite maxs emotions or feelings about it, it was never about saving chloe. she was only a tool to achieve the goal of outting jefferson

which i cant say i totally approve of from a general point of view! especially in light of “bury your gays.” but from a time travel-esque mechanic point of view.... yeah it makes sense....

but it doesnt really leave a good feeling. because max and by proxy the player were always under the misunderstanding they could save chloe when in reality they never could.

and the entire game was just. a quest of futility. (in that regard)

but we didnt know. to make it proper, the game shouldve let us into the secret. even if max didnt know and felt cheated at the end, the audience wouldnt feel the same. itd be dramatic irony. wed feel bad but wed know why it had to happen.

anyway, as the Old Woman says in virtues last reward:

“Death was always inevitable.“

Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16184 for PC + Build 15208 for Mobile

Hello Windows Insiders!

We are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16184 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. We are also releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15208 to Insiders in the Fast ring.

What’s New in Build 16184 For PC

My People: Technology is all about making it easier for you to connect with your most important people. Whether you want to share a photo, make plans for dinner, or get an answer from a friend or coworker – My People is here to take it to the next level and bring the people you care about most to the center of your experience.

Pin your people to the taskbar – we’ll suggest some to start with, or you can pick your own! (Note: you are currently limited to having 3 people pinned to your taskbar currently.)

View multiple communication apps together and filtered to each person on your taskbar.

Choose the app you want to use to chat and we’ll remember for next time.

By now, you are wondering ‘but how do I host this party in my taskbar?’. To start with, go to the Store app and make sure you have all the latest updates for the Skype, Mail, and People apps. Then click on the People icon in the taskbar to activate the first run experience and get setup.

Note: Contact syncing is enabled by default following system settings in versions 11.13+ of Skype. If you have an older version of Skype you will need to manually enable contact syncing via the Skype app settings.

New experience for Gmail accounts in Windows 10 Mail & Calendar apps: Last week, we announced we’re introducing a new experience for Gmail accounts in the Windows 10 Mail and Calendar apps that brings our latest features such as Focused Inbox and richer experiences for travel reservations and package deliveries that were previously only available to those with an Outlook.com or Office 365 email address. Windows Insiders will be the first to try out the new experience as the roll-out gradually happens over the next few weeks. You’ll know the new experience is available for your account when you are prompted to update your Gmail account settings.

Changes, improvements, and fixes for PC

We fixed an issue where night light could get stuck in a disabled state.

We’ve updated Start to use the improved XAML scrollbar style announced during Creators Update development.

We fixed an issue from recent flights where dragging an app from Start’s All apps list into the tile grid would result in Start crashing.

We fixed an issue for those using Windows in Japanese, where on first login after an upgrade certain apps would unexpectedly appear at the bottom of the Start’s All apps list for an hour or until being launched, instead of the normal sorted position.

Since the preview picture in Start Settings only previewed background and theming changes, which are already available to be previewed on their corresponding Settings pages, we’ve made the decision to remove it.

We’ve improved the loading performance of the Notification Settings page.

Some audio drivers have an “encoding Audio Processing Object” feature; this is commonly known as “Dolby Digital Live” or “DTS Connect”. This takes the output of the Windows audio engine mix, encodes it (as Dolby Digital, DTS, or some other format) and sends it out over a S/PDIF optical link for decoding by an external audio receiver. An issue was introduced which resulted in this feature no longer working, which is now fixed.

We fixed an issue from recent flights resulting in Photos crashing if you opened a picture from the Collection page and then pressed the back button in the title back.

We fixed an issue resulting in Counter Strike Global Offensive hanging or freezing during game play on the latest builds (16176+).

We fixed the issue where pressing F12 to open the Developer Tools in Microsoft Edge while F12 is open and focused may not return focus to the tab F12 is opened against, and vice-versa.

Known issues for PC

Some Insiders have reported seeing this error “Some updates were cancelled. We’ll keep trying in case new updates become available.” in Windows Update. See this forum post for more details.

Double-clicking on the Windows Defender icon in the notification area does not open Windows Defender. Right-clicking on the icon and choosing open will open Windows Defender.

Surface 3 devices fail to update to new builds if a SD memory card is inserted. The updated drivers for the Surface 3 that fix this issue have not yet been published to Windows Update.

exe will crash and restart if you tap any of the apps listed in the Windows Ink Workspace’s Recent Apps section.

Insiders who use Simplified Chinese IMEs or the Traditional Chinese Changjie or Quick IME to input text will find that the candidate window doesn’t appear when typing into certain apps. If you press space, the first candidate will be finalized. Using the number keys will not finalize any other candidate. If the candidate you need is not the first one, for now you will have to enter your text into an app where the candidate window appears, such as Notepad, and copy it into the desired text field.

Navigating to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update may crash Settings app. You can simply re-open the Settings app again and it should work again.

The “Save” dialog appears to be broken in several desktop (Win32) apps. The team is investigating. This will break things such as Chinese IME, etc.

Localized apps on localized x64 Windows 10 Insider Preview builds will not work.

We’ve heard some reports that the Action Center isn’t opening as reliably in recent builds, and are investigating.

Changes, improvements, and fixes for Mobile

We’ve fixed the issue where some Insiders were unable to open both the Connect UX page and/or the “Add Bluetooth or other devices” setting on the Bluetooth Settings page.

We fixed an issue resulting in an unexpected extra ~20 sec being added to the phone shutdown process due to a deadlock if you tried to shut down soon after switching from one network to another.

Known issues for Mobile

A small percentage of devices may experience text message backup loss related to backup and recovery of the messaging database.

The copyright date is incorrect under Settings > System > About. It shows as 2016 when it should be 2017. Thanks to the Windows Insiders that reported this!

Insiders may experience random shutdowns on some devices.

In some cases, the WeChat app may crash on launch.

Community Updates

Many Windows Insiders have asked to be introduced to members of the team beyond the four of us they engage with daily on the Twitters/forums. This is something we’ll do in these blog posts and publish them on our SHINY new website that will debut in June. Today we’ll start with the Windows Insider team.

First a quick walkthrough of how our org works.

Windows and Devices Group – thousands of people who build Windows, our apps, devices and services. Within WDG are a group of people called.

Community Champs + FlightOps – Engineers throughout WDG who live and breathe customer data/feedback – these are all the lovely humans who help make flight/no flight decisions based on data and feedback from Windows Insiders. Each person is responsible for a specific area from Core UX to deployment and are the main evangelists for customer feedback for their area. Within this group are a bunch of folks you all probably know well.

Windows Insider Team – a scrappy group of six who represent the Windows Insiders both internally and externally. Here we are below left to right with our Twitter handles. Please get in touch with us if you want to know about the things we’re working on!

Dona Sarkar (@donasarkar) – Chief #NinjaCat wrangler Dona’s main responsibility is making sure the right bugs and features are being invested in by the engineering teams for this release and future releases and communicating back to Insiders. Another responsibility is engaging with all of the other community engagement programs in Microsoft and figure out how they can Insider like Windows does. A third area of investigation is figuring out how to empower Insiders to grow and use their technical superpowers to create a lasting impact in their world.

Blair Glennon (@jbglennon) – Baseball loving Blair leads the Windows Insider Program for Business sub-program and owns Insider Insights. He is the one who partners with our AMAZING data science team to understand the happiness and health of our overall community. Through both quant and qual data (cluster/trend analysis, surveys, side convos at meet-ups), he helps us determine what we need to do to better co-create Windows and the Insider program with you all.

Jason Howard (@northfacehiker) – #TeriyakiTuesday-loving Beam Master Jason leads social sentiment from Insiders to communicate to the overall WDG org. He also spends a ton of his time helping Insiders get unblocked on build issues and rolling up lists of top issues to the product teams. Tyler Ahn (@skrelnick) – Chihuahua-mom Tyler leads the Global fan programs and the Insider MVP Program. She is partnering with Brandon on the website spec and launch and thinking about how to create Insider-in-a-box so you can run Insider programs within your own organizations! She has over a decade of experience doing business development in emerging markets and has the superpower of taking an activity and figuring out how to scale it globally eg CAT-in-a-box, forums, etc. She has been an INVALUABLE asset for our team as we think about building products and services to empower EVERY person and organization on the planet to do the thing.

Brandon LeBlanc (@brandonleblanc) – Bat’leth wielding Brandon owns the main communication to Insiders. He works with the Community Champs to make sure the features and bugs are represented in our communication. Brandon is working on the Insider all-up social media strategy as well as content creation for our shiny new website.

Jeremiah Marble (@jeremiahmarble) – Global negroni hunter Jeremiah is the architect of the Windows Insider Program. He drives projects for our core audiences and projects, deciding where and how to grow our community. This year, he’s focusing heavily on global entrepreneurs and creatives. He also leads our “Co-Creating with Sub-communities” initiative, which will launch its first pilots in June. As a third area, he’s looking at ways to better connect Insiders seeking to help others. Jeremiah was a founding member of the Windows Insider Program and our current “village elder”.
