funnily enough, i dont have an entire favorite album, but i do have a lot of individual favorites

i discovered bvssic last year when a friend showed me the data module east premiere. i had a full on crisis when i first watched it because of how good it was, so i was really happy to see a couple tracks from it got released on disciple

im totally biased because a lot of my friends worked on this one but it's still really good

also im gonna cheat and post one of my own tracks from this year

tear it down was the first time i really wrote lyrics in any capacity (i have an old ID that also has lyrics i kinda wrote but they were based on pre existing vocals so that doesn't count), we also did all of this in less than 24 hours, which proved to me that i had gotten pretty good at this!

although its not my best performing track out of 2022, it's still my favorite by far

ohh so i began paying more attention to nct bc of taeyong’s rap part in limitless (like that weird gargling noise he makes is just ahhhhhrrrfbbf) but sicheng in touch made me an nctzen (HES SO CUTE I 💖CANFHFH) i started with 127 and got attached to dream and wayv along the way <33 but !! i’d say that my ult unit is nct dream ahahfdh wayv is like a super close second (the hoe anthems >>>) but i just vibe better (?!) with the dreamies’ music.

jkghdfg slowburns have so much scope and space for character development, thicker plot (*coughs* the drama) and multiple genres so since i love stuff like that i adore slowburns. but it's been so long since i read or kept tabs with nct's writeblr bc of school 🤧 so just saying was really refreshing to read (like yangyang + comedy + college au with sprinkles of angst and loads of fluff = user jaynaur bait)

and i've been listening to 5sos on an on and off basis ever since my friend introduced me to youngblood back in 2018 and OOF I LOVE THAT SONG TO DEATH THE WHOLE ALBUM INFACT so it's no surprise i'm obsessed with just saying rn omg i can literally picture scenes from the fic in my head as the song plays out what have you done to me 😭😭 (also i'm v slowly getting into waterparks thanks to this playlist so will they be the next thing i obsess over?? hmmm)

and i personally love listening to a fic's playlist while reading bc songs have their own stories to tell and they help me relate with the fic a little better dkfj idk they just seem to enhance the whole reading experience for me so i get your obsession <33

sicheng is so cute i totally get you being an nctzen because of him<3 i started with wayv, surprisingly. i dont think a lot of nctzens start with wayv AHAHA but my ult unit is definitely dream :)) im really emotionally attached to them LMAO even though i had a slight falling-out with kpop during exams and shit and my mental health, they are still very very close to my heart. then wayv is close second as well for me,, their sound >>> no skip discography for sure. and 127 as last, i dont think i ever really got into them if i must be honest. i love some of the tracks for sure, but they're not my go-to :)

I ADOOORE SLOWBURNS. i used to not be a fan of them bc i was always so impatient but recently, i love to both read and write them:) i wrote a 40k vernon from svt fic earlier this year on my other blog and bro that... that was a ride. the character development? the mood? the atmosphere?? it was also totally unplanned and only sparked as my love declaration to this man (he's my other ult bias lord help me.) but it's one of my most, if not my most loved fic of mine i've ever written.

i don't read much fics either bc i was busy with school as well, and as i already mentioned, i kind of fell out of kpop for a while, but it makes me happy to hear that you found my fic refreshing and liked it so much :)) my other yy fic is gonna be more angsty then comedy (also i have like 3 more parts to write so im gonna be done soon :p) so i hope i don't disappoint if you decide to read it! i also have another wip with yangyang in my drafts but its been so long since i thought of that idea and i still havent managed to create a whole plot around it, so idk if i'll ever manage to actually write it.

Izone - Fiesta: another bold stance but idk, is this one as hot a take as cignature? like, fiesta’s a bop right? we’re all agreed? maybe we arent lmao but i think its a bop anyway

Loona - So What: im so proud of them!!! they got their first win this month!!! yeah idk, this song is always gonna be controversial and polarizing, but i like it a lot more than i dislike it, for sure. the choreo’s not as exciting, and the stages were empty without haseul and orbits, but the song in and of itself is good, it’s gonna remain stuck in my head all year. 

Dreamcatcher - Endless Night: this song is cheesy as hell but whatever lmao. breaking every endless niiiiiiight

Cherry Bullet - Hands Up: in my last update i said “fairly simple lol this is just a weird bop” and i stand by that

NCT 127 - Kick It: at the beginning of the month i would have put this at number 2, but i havent listened to it as much lately. part of that is me finding more comfort during this quarantine nonsense by listening to girl groups and watching girl group vlogs and other content and stuff, but also part of that is just sort of the novelty wearing off a little bit, and some minor nitpicks i had becoming more prominent and hard to ignore now. tbh i still think this is in my top 3 nct 127 songs though, easily

Weki Meki - Dazzle Dazzle: it’s really hard for me to tell where i should place this. i love weki meki to death so i want it to be high, but i don’t like it as much as some other weki meki songs. i think it’s catchy, it’s weird, it’s veeeery bubblegummy (literally lol it has popping sound effects throughout it), but it’s good. it’s just a solid weki meki track, i guess. this is the song i’ve listened to the second most this year so far, apparently, but i’m not sure it’ll stay that way.

GFriend - Crossroads: i cant believe i had this at number 3 last time lol. everything i said about it still stands but i just dont think that stuff warrants number 3 anymore. i think it is an emotionally affecting song that got better every time i listened to it, and i think the stages for it were always pretty good, but you know... maybe this drop just reflects my need for more fast paced hype-up songs this past month cause those lend themselves better to escaping from the outside world haha

Itzy - Wannabe: it’s itzy and they own this 4th gen “teen crush” concept (i hate that term even though weki meki coined it and own it even more than itzy does lol), so of course it was gonna be good, but i think it’s still up for debate exactly how good it is. i dont think it’s as classic as dalla dalla or icy will go on to be. i dont even think wannabe is the best song from their mini album, lol. it’z me might be the best mini album of the year so far, tbh. i mean dont get me wrong, this song is good, and of course ive had its chorus and weird noisy production stuck in my head all month

and here’s a thing i’m doing for the first time this month... here’s my top 5 bsides of the year so far! its hard to compare these with title tracks since generally i listen to title tracks so much more, because theyre just like... a bigger deal, you know? i give title tracks more thought and criticism too. i’m trying to be better about listening to bsides this year though, but even still, i dont always listen to the bsides for a comeback, so this list is gonna be even more biased than my title track list. i dont care though cause like... so what? of course it’s biased lmao it’s my opinion, of course it’s subjective. anyway here it is

Dreamcatcher - Red Sun: the stages made me love this song even more and understand its aesthetic so much better, but even without that it was still one of the best bsides i’d ever heard from a group. part of me wants a Red Sun special clip, but part of me wants them to wait till Handong is back. it’ll probably never happen, but we can dream. anyway this song kills me with how good it is

Elris - This Is Me: this song slaps so fucking hard lmao. i’m not that into the dance break in the song, it kills the momentum a little bit, but damn this shit is such an adrenaline rush, i love it

Dreamcatcher - Sahara: we all joked about this song already, but seriously that special clip made it totally impossible to take this song seriously... which vastly improved it, in my opinion. this song becoming just something you headbang to and giggle about the “ra ra ra”s and the antics in the special clip made this song 10x better, and i already loved it to begin with lol. this song is such a fuckin anthem haha, a silly, powerful, just-good-dumb-fun anthem 

Itzy - That’s A No No: this song has some of the most unique production i’ve heard in a kpop song. it’s downright nightmarish, this thing sounds like a fever dream

Izone - Open Your Eyes: idk what to say about this song other than that it’s an easy song to get lost in actually there’s a tie for this spot... this song is tied with Loona - Number One: idk what to say about this song other than that it’s an easy song to get lost in

oh its good that its not the bad type of rain, a light sprinkling can be relaxing sometimes. aww thx darl, the concern is appreciated but it went pretty well and i managed not to cough too much on stage or kill myself trying to run around to the other side of the stage in the pouring rain so thats good! oooh tea buddies! my dogs a labradoodle, but shes a bit more of a feral poodle lol not much labrador in her at all, unless its her relentless urge to hunt down every bird that has ever walked this earth smh :((( hopefully they can come back on soon, does uni have dances?

My job is to mostly to tell people when they make mistakes lmao. i work in document quality control ? for a manufacturing company, mostly check the inspection paperwork and certificates for the medical/surgical devices. and then have to be like this... is not right. fix this. currently have a lot of prototype parts going through which have some added requirements but also they keep changing the prints so then obviously the paperwork then changes and its just been annoying cuz its redo-ing a lot of paperwork.

yeah, that makes sense and that is part of it sometimes... i also think im just not in the mood for certain genres of music at times lol.

lol yeah it was so funny in the beginning she was watching some mv's and kept sending me screenshots of jeonghan with different hair styles with this message "who is this????" and every single time it was still jeonghan. i was just like lmao you should just assume that its jeonghan at this point. her defense was that he looks really different every time he changes his hair. she can recognize him now at least. the only other ones she can recognize currently are s.coups (her current favorite member overall) and vernon (her favorite rapper in their songs - she really like how vernon raps). shes more rap biased lol.

thank you.. you are only a little late lol my bday was the 11th. the last time i played bingo i spent $40 total over two days (80 games @ $0.50/game) and won zero. its a skill... i only got close to bingo (1 space away) like 3 times total. it was really tragic... at one point the lady sitting at the same table as us was just like wow... i haven't seen you even get three in a row since i've been here (which was like an hour).

We went to the same kindergarten, then i moved away and then i moved back in the 8th grade (i also have known the friend that is getting into svt for the same amount of time since she went to that same school, though her family are basically neighbors with my cousins family, and they are really close, so i saw her a lot more overall but wasn't super close to her until more recently actually, when we went to the same wedding (my cousin's) and starting talking again)

also to help this make more sense (as in why would they remember me lol) my graduating class size at that school was only 22 people, and my cousins also went to that same school. my dad went to that school, the english teacher there had taught my dad when he was in high school, its extreme small town vibes. people would literally just recognize what family i came from and just start talking to me. and i'd just be frantically trying to figure out who they were. like oh god oh god am i supposed to know who this is?? have i met this person before???

actually the wackiest thing is one of my friends from when i moved (big school), her grandma, i found out after we moved back to the small town, used to babysit my dad and her grandmas house was literally a mile down the street from us... you could see her grandmas house from our living room windows. i was just like what?? her cousins also then went to the same school as me. and then we fell out of touch but then ended up going to the same college. where she would be like "i saw you on campus today" and i was just like??? i did not see you, where are you? i haven't talked to you in like 3 years wtf?? i'm not in touch with her anymore but my younger sister is currently roommates with her younger sister in college lmao. oh other bizarre thing... one of my classmate's (from the big school) relatives bought the house we sold when i moved in kindergarten, and idk for some reason a few years after we moved we went back to the old house for something idk, and my classmate was visiting her family at my old house at the same time. we saw each other and we just stared at each other like what are you doing here?? we had moved like hour away (highway travel times) lol so it was just so random. (wow i hope these made sense lol)

the heat was worse in the beginning of summer i think... or i've just gotten used to it lol. there was all that smoke though that blew in from canada a bit ago though. but thats almost become a yearly thing now unfortunately. lol your weather sounds like how the weather is here sometimes - i live in minnesota, we are known for our wildly fluctuating weather. extreme highs and lows.

I love piano in music! I had to learn how to play piano as a kid... my grandma taught (most) of the grandchildren. i'm not very good at it tbh i never liked to practice and i havent played in years lol. we also learned how to play the piano/read sheet music when i went to the big school for music class for a year. I feel like if you are able to buy a little cheap or used keyboard it shouldn't be too hard to teach yourself if you wanted to start?? at least simple songs. I guess learning to read music would be the hardest place to start if you've never read sheet music before?? but thats what cheat sheets are for tbh. write the notes in, write them on the keys whatever works. we had a foldable note cheat sheet thing that went behind the keys and said the name of the note and where it was on the staff behind all the keys. when I was learning i'd be like b b b where is the b im looking for... ah here it is *ding* ok and now c ... c . c. ah ha *ding* and then repeat until you can play at a normal speed lol.

With time I’ve learned to literally not expect anything of BTS but also expecting it all they’re incredibly unpredictable when it comes to new sounds/experimenting so when I heard the whistling/guitar stream from the teasers I was like ?? uh ok ?  but idk I didn’t think about how that could go on (I was more immersed in visuals with teasers and bighit usually teases us by playing something completely differentso I really didn’t think about music then) NOW, AS I’VE SAID BEFORE, DNA IS SERENDIPITY’S HIGH ON LSD OLDER SISTER. how can you make two songs about the same theme (universe, destiny, love) but to make them sound completely different? And have a TOTALLY DIFFERENT VIBE? MAKE YOU FEEL SUCH DIFFERENT THINGS BUT AT THE END COMUNICATING THE SAME MESSAGE? Pure love and trusting destiny that you’re meant to be together. Bangtan did that.

Now, with that unpredictable thing I was talking about: I did NOT expect such a bubbly song. SUCH A POP SONG. Like for real they always do that, they go against the tide? Kinda? I’m so far up their ass but really I was expecting something different? Idk more serious? Harmonies – as always in bts’ songs on point – and I’m talking about those reaaaaaally deep back up harmonies you really don’t catch the first couple of times you listen to the song but they’re there and trust me it makes the difference from an okay song to a bts song

The (dubstep kinda) drop took me back to the first time I heard I NEED U and I fell in love with the contrast back then and I still love contrasts like that ;;;;;;;;;;

When spring day came out in february I kept repeating yoongi’s part in the second verse over and over and HE’S DONE IT AGAIN “I want it this love, I want it real love” that’s all I hear when I’m alone with my thoughts.

03. Best of Me: okay honestly I was prepared to not like this song. I was ready to be :/ about it…. We know why chainsmokers But I was soooooo happy with the beat drop in the chorus it’s just… so pretty? So sweet? Boys I knew you were soft but not like this. And after reading the lyrics I just absolutely love it (actually, thinking about it, I would have expected the title track to be THIS kind of sound and theme instead of DNA lmao) 

I think the chorus might get repetitive towards the end of the song but the rap keeps it balanced so as always I’m thankful for rap line. Did I mention the lyrics are literally poetry? Okay, they are.

04. Dimples:  this is exactly what I wanted when they announced the album was gonna be based in youth and love? A silly love song. THIS IS WHAT I WAS HERE FOR.
