starting HRT doesn't have to be a huge momentous all-or-nothing decision. you can just try it like you would an antidepressant you've been informed of the risks of.

there won't be any immediate irreversible changes overnight. you can always stop, change your dose, change your delivery system, decide it's not the right time. you can even microdose if you want to.

you don't have to tell anyone. you don't have to announce it if you don't want to.

stop waiting for a perfect time in your life because it won't come.

stop waiting to reach a mythical level of certainty that never comes to anyone, for anything.

you've been thinking about it long enough. if you have the opportunity, just give it a shot. you're worth the courage it takes to make a change in your life.

we are not obligated to take on your fears and traumas around testosterone as our own, nor are we obligated to let them influence our relationship with it.

we are not obligated to sit here in a world that heavily restricts and constantly threatens our access to it and listen silently as you contribute to stigma around it.

we’re already tired of watching cis society as a whole try to rip it away from us; we don’t need fellow trans people and supposed allies giving credence to their cause.

for many of us testosterone is life-saving medicine, it’s liquid gold, it’s the nectar and ambrosia of the fucking gods.

is it so hard to just let us have that? to let us believe that and say it and celebrate it without being given a million reasons to question it? is that really too much to ask?

if you can find it in your heart to let other trans people romanticize their transitions, i promise you can let us do it to.

testosterone is a beautiful thing. it makes people hotter and even more importantly it makes them happier and anyone who wants it should be able to have it because it’s so life-changing and magical and wonderful and incredibly important to so many people who deserve the happiness it offers.

Friendly reminder that medical transition isn't a requirement to be trans. There's plenty of reasons someone might not pursue medical transition: disability, discriminatory laws, personal preference, etc. Your gender is still your own to decide whether you take hormones or not.

hate that people try SOOO hard to push the narrative that taking testosterone won't make someone angry or horny or whatever. I don't know how to explain how it feels like being misgendered to be held to the expectation of being a pure and quiet saint in my transition (ie societal expectations of women) but fuck that. testosterone made me loud and pissed off and I cranked it like 13 times a day and guess what that's fucking normal and it's still my choice and no one gets to take away my autonomy for it. yeah I got stinkier and hairier and more bold in my assertions, but that's not a default negative thing, and it's not something I should have to pretend doesn't happen for people to respect my right to transition. my autonomy has nothing to do with my purity. jesus
