twisted wonderland's is a japanese battle/rhythm game, at least i think so. the entire concept, character designs and scenario was created by the creator of black butler.

you awaken in an unfamiliar place called twisted wonderland, preparing to be enrolled in night raven college (an all-boys college). and then you get discovered you don't have magic and typical protagonist stuff goes by, and you still get enrolled into the school as a prefect.

as far as i know, the ppl in this game are pretty closely linked/related to the villains in disney. take riddle roseheart for example, his mother is called the "queen of hearts" and even from his overall outfit being comprised of roses, playing cards and a crown on his head,,, yeah i feel like he's definitely who i think he is.

tro (the right opinion), primink and j aubrey are pretty chill ppl who comment on what other terrible ppl did, like how tro has a 3 part series on onision (i'm sure you've heard of him) and he's able to provide a very neutral outlook on stuff like this. he does so much in depth researching on them before making a video and it really shows. i admire him a lot lol

and i have played the arcana before, like a couple years back? i haven't played it in a long time, but i was wondering more choice of games/hosted games vibe. it's a very niche(?) genre but some of the stuff they put out are insanely good. if you want, i can link you a couple demos that i think you may like? well, depending on what you're interested in anyways

why do i feel like i played/watched something like that before... ah, well it is a pretty common starting point. the thing abt disney characters sounds very cool! it’s always fun to see how characters are reimagined and portrayed in other works.

omg im showing my cavewoman side. it seems i misunderstood. i thought that the people you mentioned are like vloggers who do those pranks that are not pranks at all. i’m guessing they’re like the ‘tea’ explaining people? i personally dont indulge in that type of content but being able to learn about issues from a neutral/third-party perspective comes in handy bc most of the time, the problem party cant be trusted w accurate information. i heard of the name onision but i dont really KNOW about it. a quick google research got me kinda caught up though. god i feel so... detached from the civilization.

i cant guarantee i’ll be able to check every single thing out but yes! feel free to send in some recommendations and i’ll try to check them in my spare time

Phases/Interests the Arcana characters would have had if they were Gen Z

Asra:

Naturally, when he was young he’d have a phase for Harry Potter, only the books though, and as he got older he’d re-read them and laugh at the magical inconsistencies.

TAZ. He probably simped at some point for Taako. Perhaps just dnd in general, and he either played a Magick user of some kind or a bard depending on his level of intoxication.

*inhales* PERCY JACKSON. that's it that's the point. He even got the unfulfilling Best Years Of Your Life Depression(tm) from reading exciting, romanticised accounts of teenagehood, only for it to not live up because how could it? its chill though, he finds his own little ways to be adventurous like making pasta in the late dead of night/early void hours of the morning, and eating on the floor. Faust helps him.

Listens to sleeping at last just to feel again and Saturn is his favourite and he will dance sensually and soulfully to it, somehow.

He watches Midnight gospel because he just loves the concept of podcasts but can sometimes struggle listening when its just audio bc he will vibe himself into a mediative state and have no idea what half the episode was about, so the visuals ironically keep him pretty grounded while he watches it. (He does meditate afterwards, though)

Julian:

This man DID have a fnaf phase and he IS the MAN behind THE SLAUGHTER. (He also gets a kick outta die in a fire (obviously) but it sends him absolutely, irrevocably feral)

He 100% had an emo phase too, but in a gay way that slowly transitioned into a weird taste for aspects of cottage core but like a Seaside cottage, and jams it to bear ghost now.

I bet he also got into true crime and has many pieces of paraphernalia with the slogan “Be GAY Do CRIME”. He also knows waaaay too much about how to dispose of bodies from that one reddit thread and worries everyone by bringing it up just a little bit too often. Also! out of morbid curiosity, he's the kinda bitch that would watch autopsy videos at 3:27am and is subscribed to ask a mortician and definitely participates in vulture culture.

Ngl he probably also got roped into a SuperWhoLock phase by Asra and it just added to his trust issues and permanently damaged his Gaydar.

Probably haunted by April 13...

He can't tell whether he wants to BE hozier or if he wants to FUCK him but tbh he's not fussy. He sings his heart out to From Eden, and bops hard to cheer wine (his favourite is the live version) and you better bet he listens to the 8d audios of Hozier but its.... and his YT history is full of them.

Nadia:

She's a bad bitch, but probably didn't get into anything too obscure. She probably has liked something and tried desperately to hide it from her elder sisters, only for them to get into it too. she’d be alright about it at first, but when Nasmira starts getting way more likes on her fandom content, Nadia starts feeling a bit put down and quits the fandom.

She’s is or has been at some point been knee deep in showtunes. She liked Hamilton but isn't quite trash for it, but will wipe the floor with your ass if Dead Girl Walking comes on.

Probably had a ‘not like other girls phase’ but instead of giving her a weird, kinda toxic relationship with womanhood, she got over it and accepts her femininity and will defend within an inch of her life women's rights and choices.

She's a proud Barb and would absolutely let Doja cat step on her. She hypes up girls on their OnlyFans and will actively murder people who tries to disrespect sex workers, as she too, respects the grind.

Also likes Greek and Egytian mythology, and stans Medusa as a victim of Men aint being shit. She also can't decide whether she stans Persephone or Aphrodite more and it is a constant ongoing debate in her head. She probably supports Lore Olympus on patreon.

Lucio:

MLP but he wouldn't ever admit it, and protects Fluttershy from creeps with his liFE. he also actually felt pretty bad for Discord, and kinda related to him. (Legend has it that on cursed, cursed nights of solitude, you can hear the sounds of DiSCOrddd iM hOWLin’ aT ThE MooN~~ drift in the air, accompanied by an actually really good rendition of the lyrics).

Lucio also liked heathers and he and Nadia bond over belting it out together, but his favourite is candy store (but will occasionally bop it to Big Fun).

His experience of Gay Culture was just binge watching drag race while he was still trying to accept his mlm-ness, and gatekeeped it until he learnt eventually how its supposed to be a place of tolerance and support and will now actively encourage All drag monarchs to work it. (He realises belatedly why it felt kinda wrong when RuPaul/the show did the queens dirty and the lack of diverse identites etc). He’s a little off with some things but with a little guidance from a very hesitant Asra, he's slowly getting Woke. (Neither will admit that they bond over these little lessons by the end of it, but everyone knows it and wish they’d just chill abt it)

Liked Voltron, stanned Lotor and his redemption arc and just... does Not want to talk about it.

Felt *weird*~~ when he watched that [one] scene with Levi from attack one titan and it took him a while but Now He Knows...

Muriel:

Got into Buzzfeed Unsolved and is mildly ashamed of himself but he finds Shane and Ryans dynamic really funny so he keeps watching it anyways. For some ~~mysterious~~ reason, he has had mad respect for Shane after the Goatman’s bridge episode, and immediately went to send it to everyone else, but got scared.

He likes to watch documentaries on cryptids (sometimes with Asra, or with Julian depending on how creepy the cryptid is)

His life was changed on the fateful day of 11/11/11. He has the highest logged hours on steam out of everyone ever and ProtectOrcs2020 could basically be his tagline at this point. He always adopts the kids and makes them the Best House with the hearthfire DLC. He always goes with the stormcloaks and probably simps for at least 5 of the companions.

He got into the Witcher through the Netflix series and started out being a Geralt stan, but jaskier slowly snook his way into his heart and he highkey ships them and Siri IS their child. (he would convince Nadia to cosplay as Yennefer, if he had more confidence).

Portia:

She liked dan and Phil but wasn't creepy abt it. She swore she could never pick a side but she secretly enjoyed Phil’s content more bc existentialism gives her anxiety. She did ship them but has since learnt quick that irl people ships aren't cute. She probably stays Thomas Sanders too

IF you're looking for a bitch with the nicest island on animal crossing, portia is 100% your bitch. She has Lillies of the valley for days and absolutely died when the special edition AC switch sold out before she could buy one, and compensates by copious amounts of Isabelle and the able sister stickers. Her favourite villagers are Fauna, Goldie, and Nate.

Portia is also a queen of Stardew and often passes out before she can get to bed because she just wants to get ON with her beautiful FarM dammit! She can never make her mind up what villager she wants to romance and switches faves like every week.

omg lets see if i can do this in order. i think the first fandom i ever wrote fanfic for was creepypasta LMAOO and then... fairy tail? then 5 seconds of summer, then maybe it 2017?? voltron legendary defender, detroit become human, monster prom and mystic messenger kind of overlapped, the arcana !!! then my hero academia, haikyuu, a Little bit of demon slayer... i think thats it lol

2. what fandoms are you currently writing for?

seventeen is all for rn, but i’m thinking of also writing for mha again and adding jjk!!

3. how long have you been writing?

oh wow for like... probably around 6 years? maybe 6 and a half

4. on which platforms do you post your stories?

rn just tumblr, i used to post more actively on ao3 but i havent since i started writing for kpop

5. what is your favourite genre to write?

ahhh like !!! comfort fics!!! i think theres something really sweet in those unspoken feelings during moments you think you’ll never forget... the idea of being with someone and you’re just so sure they’re your favorite person, and then warmth that comes with that realization... wahh

6. are you a pantser or a planner?

oh it depends i think. for longer fics i like to plan them out, but i really wing it with like timestamps or shorter ones

7. one shot or multi-chapter?

ONE SHOTS. my god i fucking suck at multi-chapter shit LMAOO ive only done 1 series like that and it was so rough for me lol

8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?

hm how do i explain this... anything that makes sense? however long it takes for it to feel like the chapter/fic is summed up or completed. i used to worry about word counts a lot but now i rarely pay attention to them, both in reading and writing

9. what is your longest published story? is it complete?

if we’re talking about multi-chaptered, then the color of you wins at 17k !! in terms of one shots, it’s for now; forever at 9k!

10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?

oh boy. i think... anything from the last like. 8 months? my svt stuff for sure!! i went a while without writing in between like january-late november 2020, and i was worried that my writing would suffer a lot... it took a sec for me to get back into the groove of things but i’m feeling happier than ever with the stuff i write now. i feel like ive matured about the way i approach my own writing and ideas, and how i do everything, and my fics make me really proud. ive started writing within different aus that i hadnt touched before, or talking about different feelings or ideas, etc... i really feel like ive grown with this most recent burst lol, and i love working on them! i get so hyped up when im in the middle of writing or even planning, im just so excited to share all of it hehe

11. favorite request you've have written and why (if any?)

ah its been so long since ive worked with requests that i cant remember anything LOL

12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?

yes. it is comfort and content. it is the feeling of love. it is holding hands on a walk in the middle of spring and smelling flowers. it is the sound of leaves when a gust of wind blows past. it is looking into ur lovers eyes and feeling nothing but pure fondness

fuck like somewhere around 20 probably

14. three things you have noticed about your own writing?

i really like repetition (specifically in sentences if that makes sense??), LOTS of unspoken things (even if i picture a fic with an established relationship, i dont say it within the fic; and especially concerning romantic feelings, i love when things go unsaid and are FELT full force), i think a lot of detailed rambling... i really like to try and describe emotions and stuff in the most abstract and obscure ways lol i feel like it makes things a little more palpable and honest

15. a quote you like from a published story

im gonna do a few. Lol. firstly this long one from pretend people can unlearn:

“Are you…” Jeonghan starts, and when you look at him, his eyes are still on the city in front of you. “Are you ever afraid that we’ll fall out of love?”

It never occurred to you that this was love. It’s not like the love you’ve experienced in the past, not even close. But maybe… maybe that’s why you never leave, why you hold yourself back from certain arguments like it might fix everything. Maybe love is the reason why Jeonghan still seems to believe in you. Why he promises he’ll be the best thing for you despite always breaking that promise.

(Is it love, a voice in your head questions, or is it longing?)

It takes you a while to respond. “I don’t know,” you end up saying, because you really don’t. Jeonghan turns his head and looks at you, and you half expect him to start an argument in the middle of night, out on the street like this. It wouldn’t be the first time. “Would that… be okay?”

“I don’t know,” Jeonghan answers, just like you. His voice is soft. You want to reach for his hand just to hold it. “You’re still…”

He pauses, like he’s trying to find the right word. You let him take his time, for once, instead of accusing him of the worst. “I’m still?”

“Everything,” he tells you. He looks so sad and you reach out for him because it’s the only thing you can offer. You think the worst thing about your relationship with Jeonghan is that you will always believe him when he gets like this, just like you’ll believe him when he takes it back in the heat of a fight.

ahh ok ill do a few here too!!! one is something ive begun writing, the other is one that i’ve just been working on planning out <3

Smoke blows past somebody else’s lips and partially obstructs Wonwoo’s view of you.

He hasn’t been to a party like this in a long time. It’s elegant, more of a gala than anything. He can’t remember who threw it or for what reason. It doesn’t really matter, he supposes, watching you make conversation with the partygoers. They all have old money to throw around, the symbolism stitched into their suit jackets and red-rimmed heels; remnants of it left on tables and in the contents of expensive cigars.

You play them like you are one of them, tell them the right things with a silver tongue. Wonwoo always watches, plays the part of an observer. It’s impressive, the way you float around the room like it’s nothing.

Wonwoo observes; Wonwoo knows things.

and the second one...

"you don't know me," you respond. your voice carries no bite, just a fact, and joshua knows this

"i want to," he says after a second. "if you'll let me."

and he's asking permission to be your friend, to be close to you, something so tender and strangely polite

it makes you feel almost sad

"don't expect too much," you say, a little teasing. joshua only smiles

wahhh thank you all so much!!! when i first got into writing for kpop it was a lot different mostly because i think... i was writing stuff for different anime before, and i had built up a big following because of that and my works always did like, really exceptional in terms of notes and feedback and such, and getting into kpop... has been rough on that end 💀 but i appreciate your support thus far, even if it’s small... i’m still working towards a standard that i have for myself!!! so please be patient with me, thank you for the support !!

also please find it in yourself to leave lil comments or any sort of feedback... please..... PLEASE... any creator ever understands this struggle please always try to do this!!! for me and for any other creator you follow and enjoy content from <333

ok so im trying to avoid having emotions about the shitshow that is the local elections so i dont yknow breakdown and ive been meaning to make a post for ages abt muriel’s route i have so many thoughts. obvious spoilers ahead not that i have more than like 2 followers who play arcana game

firstly....i was kinda underwhelmed with the second half/ending of his route. disclaimer i haven’t replayed it and haven’t got the reversed ending, only upright, and my memory sucks and i played it a while ago. SO, things that I....don’t understand:

1. SUCH a massive deal is made out of muriel (and MC) having to learn to fight, the plot literally hinges on it, only for it to swing off the plot all together into oblivion and for the final showdown to be....a series of literal games.* And I wouldn’t disagree with this as an ending tbh!!!! I think it’s fucking great actually -- a non-violent resolution to further signify Muriel’s journey from violence and isolation to peace and fun and family, and tbh sort of a massive fuck you to lucio; LITERALLY RETURNING to the coliseum only to BEAT Lucio WITHOUT returning to the violence that lucio forced on him, turning it into a place of actual joy. Like fuck!! BUT with the whole first part it just doesn’t fucking fit lmao? Muriel could have faced his demons in the beginning without learning to fight at all, he still could have had that journey. Morga could have just traveled with them right? Or even better he could have refused to fight and then the ending would have been even better. We could have had a moment of Morga acknowledging their strength??? Acknowledging their non-violent victory WITH PRIDE??? Bringing her to reflect on her choices as a mother and a leader??? Devs why couldn’t we have had that :( I may be remembering wrong but the apparent necessity of Morga teaching them to fight is the biggest source of tension for at least a book. It’s the reason for his first kiss with the MC! Also yeah speaking of tension with Morga

2. SUCH a big deal is made out of morga becoming/reflecting as (?) a mother figure to muriel (which in itself is a very bold way to go story-wise)....only for her to be killed off. Again, I don’t disagree with this decision, I like her but story-wise it could fit. But I can’t help feel like it was really premature. This is something I feel all routes suffer from, and perhaps I am expecting too much from a game that can be played for free very easily, but every single route has pacing problems, none more than Muriel’s imo. Considering the maternal aspect of Morga (for both her and Muriel!) is sooooo fucking loaded and intense like, you cannot drop that and then kill her and not really mention her for the rest of the story. Her “ghost” made an appearance sometime later and a few sentences were said and that was it. Her and Muriel’s past was so brushed over and idk clearly they didn’t have the time or money or whatever to develop it which is a real shame. Their journeys could have run parallel or gone in opposite directions literally anything but Morga dying in a moment of weakness from a cheap trick by lucio :/ bc YEAH like that was not actually weakness but certainly what morga considers weakness!!! that mistake could have split her away from muriel+MC entirely OR brought them closer together. she could have been disgusted with herself and decided once and for all to let go of lucio as a son and go her own way to destroy him, or she could have woken up to what she can do differently now and work with Muriel and co and let go of lucio that way. idk man it was just a waste

Right then....onto the romance. or. lack of :( this is completely subjective, I know some people were v happy with it but like, this could not have been a drier route and im so fucking sad about it. There were definitely some sweet moments, but that was sort of it for me. I get what they were going for, but it’s personally sad to me that Muriel’s contentedness seems to have come at the expense of sensual intimacy/tension. like there was just absolutely no spice whatsoever. I saw someone describe the MC relationship as basically platonic and...yeah. Very little intimacy that wasn’t like, cuddling or holding hands, which since there wasn’t much to build on anyway just came across as nice but unexciting. It felt like it became too easy and too normal too quickly? Naturally touch was such a precious and important thing in the beginning as Muriel was learning to trust, but that just did not get explored imo. The first kiss wasn’t...the worst, but it was sort of OOC to me. They could have got so deep with that first kiss -- the opportunity, the trust, the choice. “Happy accident” scenarios can be great and definitely could have worked for his story, but for the first kiss i was like oh ok we’re here now?? and..muriel’s ok with that considering we were just uhh sobbing about his forced servitude and violence?? idk how i haven’t mentioned it yet but the way the tone was all over the fucking shop in that book gave me serious whiplash. Anyway it’s so disappointing bc c’monnnnn this whole relationship is brand new to BOTH mc and muriel. At the start every touch is a small turning point and i think they did that so well, you feel excited at the development and where it will go, but then it’s like “ok well we’re together now so everything is easy and breezy”. you can create emotional tension (the good kind) through touch EVEN if they’re both ace. which the MC is not bc its the self insert character so. yeah. i feel like im probably being a bit harsh in retrospect but this is what has stuck with me.

This leads me to Muriel himself, and what to me was the biggest opportunity to do blow everyone’s minds bc he was SUCH a mystery before his route. Dark and brooding but shy and caring, anti-social through anxiety and fear but lonely, his reluctant but consistent support of Asra and his friends. And that was all teased in the beginning! ....and then completely fell flat. Similar to my first point: they had some deep emotional development going, Muriel literally coming face to face with the past he never knew, and the past he wishes he could forget, learning to actually be around people, learning to trust people (and ngl i fucking loved the beginning stages with MC so much), and overcoming his anxiety and pessimism. He and MC literally travel together alone for weeks. WEEKS! And much of that is skipped by. We have big emotional scenes but not much in between. And then...and yknow im not sure where it changes...after khamgalai dies? (and dont get me started on that what the fuck was the point of THAT?) after MC goes to the arcane realms? I can’t remember but at some point it’s like...all tension is gone lmao. Including tension between MC and Muriel, and he becomes quite two dimensional. It was just rushed. Vesuvia is in ruins, Nadia and co chased out of the palace, Lucio taking control etc but like...it doesn’t feel like it matters? Im really not saying that his route has to be all doom and gloom at all but don’t MAKE it doom and gloom and then do a 180 yknow? I remember Julian’s route in particular being so fucking tense, even though I knew I got the upright ending, that dinner scene was...phew. (and i do get that naturally the first 3 routes are bound to be a more exciting experience bc i was less familiar w the game etc but still, there was just 0 tension).

im not even gonna talk about the MC’s past reveal bc i have issues with it in every route so whatever

so yeah i love muriel and i still like the arcana but it’s writing and pacing is just so inconsistent and it makes me sad. I will continue to fanon Muriel’s route to death.

*It’s occurred to me that the reversed ending may be more violent and actually fit with where the story seemed to be going in the start, but I stand by the opinion that it doesn’t matter because it still doesn’t make sense. I shouldn’t have to play the reverse ending to be like “oh ok that was the point of that” bc it should make sense and serve purpose in both endings, which i dont think it does.

Senobia (5 star) :

Banner name : "a captain's ambition"

Weapon name : "sea divider" which comes in a set of dual claymores

Attack : freakishly fast physical strikes of both claymores at once except the 5th strike is a heavy one (the claymores combine into one)

Special attack : seno gets close to whatever opponent is near and inflicts hydro with a heavy strike of both claymores

Ult : the claymores combine and she does a spinning hit that summons a wave that can hit up to 5 surrounding opponents (4 waves at C6)

Passive talents : increases space in ur inventory, increased mora drops from mobs and no hydro damage can be taken (as well as wet status cant be afflicted) during the ult

Special dish : i have no clue what her special dish is but whatever she makes increases physical attack pourcentage

Kasto (4 star) :

Weapon name : "princess guard" a geo claymore

Attack : she spins in circle like xinyan if u hold the button but once stamina bar depletes she jumps up and spawns a huge crystal from the ground (sending the opponent flying upwards)

Special attack : traps ennemies in crystal for a few seconds and does damage (time increases with constellations)

Ult : creates a pretty strong shield while a rain of crystal falls around her and inflicts damage on nearby opponents

Passive talent : does it count as a passive if I say that she is naturally able to break the geo hypostasis's pillars in 2 hits at C1

Special dish : she can't cook im sorry

Michi (5 star) :

Banner name : "honor of the tengu" where he has a stupidly low rate of dropping unless u complete his story quest first

Weapon name : "cherry blossom blade" which is a katana with porcelain like decorations on it (also has a low drop rate unless story quest completed)

Attack : FAST FUCKING PHYSICAL ATTACKS WHERE HE JUMPS AND DODGES OUT OF THE WAY BY HIMSELF

Special attack : immobilizes up to 3 opponents in cherry tree branches and michi gets a shield that buffs his attacks

Ult : he goes into something similar as the demon mode of the dual blades from monster hunter ? He can't take damage and he can stand on moving branches that run over his ennemies (controls similar to fischl's oz)

Passive talent : u get a double of every flower u pick up no matter the region and he buffs everyone's attack

Special dish : salmon skewers that give u pyro res and buffs crit damage :)

Agnar (5 star) :

Attack : all of his attacks inflict cryo damage and he switches between physical attacks with his fists and elemental attacks with his polearm at random

Special attack : a bit like geo traveler u can aim at ennemies and drop a giant icicle on them that explodes and inflicts cryo damage after 5 seconds

Ult : summons a giant ice leopard that steps on nearby opponents (disappears after animation)

Passive talent : he isnt affected by sheer cold, his crit rate goes up with his attack combos, im sorry but if u put childe or kaeya in the team with him his number of normal attack will decrease (he'll hit less times and slower for the same amount of damage per hit)

Special dish : his own version of the pile em up dish except he makes the steak into a soup with ACTUAL has vegetables in it (stares at diluc)

Mei Lan (5 star) :

Banner name : "eery music of qingyun peaks"

Weapon name : "tales of ancient liyue" which is his fan that acts as a catalyst

Attack : his physical attacks are some of the weakest in game because he doesn't like to move a lot but basically he uses his fan a bit like a sword (throws it at opponents sometimes and it does multiple hits while spinning)

Special attack : sends water blades with his fan and legs (by hitting the ground) which has wayyy higher damage and also inflicts the wet status, it also acts as a mode like childe's blades so he'll only do that until it reaches cooldown

Ult : if his special isn't activated he'll summon a giant fish skeleton that will get rid of 2 opponents at C0, if his special is activated the area he's in floods and the opponents gets dragged under the water (99% crit success rate except he loses hp during it)

Passive talent : when mei lan is in ur party mobs dont see u unless u directly engage combat, rare liyue mobs drop rates are also boosted (u can get 4 star artefacts from hilichurls), BUT if u have wuxiang he'll have a lower drop rate on his banner and lower base stats

Special dish : absolutly nothing. He can't cook he will burn everything u give him and it'll actually decrease ur stats. He gives u food poisoning basically.

Wuxiang (5 star) :

Banner name : "immortal antique shop owner" where he has a drop rate of 40% if u have anything that belongs to mei lan or mei lan himself (he's annoying)

Weapon name : "dream of glaze lilies" which is his catalyst

Attack : fast cryo spells if u hold the button or if u spam it he'll just start hitting ppl with his hands which also does more damage

Special attack : summons a shield and throws ice shards at opponents

Ult : the surrounding area and the opponents gets surrounded by a prison of ice flowers (it doesn't affect wuxiang) and the opponents get cryo damage overtime but hitting them into the flowers just instantly kills them

Passive talent : if u have mei lan on the team he'll just randomly stop attacking sometimes my bad, same talent as xingqiu where when u purchase books u get double of them, also increases artefact quality and can pinpoint every book for the archive on the map

Special dish : he also can't fucking cook but his special dish is his version of adepti's temptation called "suspicious tempation" where the stats u get from eating it are randomized,,,,,the crit rate is still good but anything else could decrease

Junko (5 star) :

Banner name : "beast tengu of loyalty" where he has increased drop rate if noburu or noburu's weapon is in ur team

Weapon name : "destruction of timeless battles" which is his polearm

Attack : slams and swings his polearm around like a madman and it creates a mini explosion everytime and it inflicts lasting pyro damage EXCEPT he's so reckless he burns himself too so his hp decreases slowly

Special attack : he switches to pyro talismans and can make 2 big fire tornados that can mix with junko's cryo only

Ult : transforms into a big dog for a while and mauls everything near him inflicting pyro damage

Passive talent : natural cryo res he can't get cryo damage unless he's straight up frozen after being inflicted wet

Special dish : konpeito,,,,,but with like chili powder on top and it gives him increased pyro damage,,,,he's crazy im so sorry

Noburu (5 star) :

Banner name : "beast tengu of knowledge" where he has increased drop rate if u have junko or junko's weapon

Weapon name : "voice of trials" which is his scythe

Attack : noburu spins his scythe 3 times around slowly and them plants it in the ground fast on the 4th strike and inflicts lasting cryo damage

Special attack : can dash for 10 seconds and leave a trail that inflicts cryo damage (very slow cooldown tho)

Ult : transforms into a big snake for a while and can either bite (inflicts cryo and poison damage) or choke ppl out u choose

Passive talent : 70% drop rate on his banner if ur team is all girls when pulling for him and increased crit rate and running speed when the same condition is met

Special dish : ice cream mochi from cryo slimes that give u increased crit damage and crit rate and increased cryo damage

Ada (5 star) :

Banner name : "the fallen monarchy"

Weapon name : "incarnation of thorns" which is their sword

Attack : in normal attacks she just hits with the umbrella mode of her weapon while inflicting electro damage (very high base elemental mastery)

Special attack : just like childe she van switch from umbrella wacking mode to sword mode where her speed and damage increases

Ult : her sword turns into a bow, the sky darkens and she just summons thunder as an arrow and can inflict damage on a whole group of ennemies

Passive talent : mobs can disengage from the fight without reaching 0 hp and still drop loot (she scares them off basically), if jean in the team she gets increased everything

Special dish : its rose flavored black tea that heals all of ur health no matter how low ur hp is :))

Jiahao (5 star) :

Banner name : "death will come before graduation does"

Weapon name : "a cat's paragon" which is his shotgun <3

Attack : it works like any bow user so he has normal shots and charged shots that make more damage just that his is pyro damage

Special attack : it locks onto up to 3 opponents and fires at high speed without the need to aim (so more like a rifle then a shotgun)

Ult : he just calls over up to 6 (3 until he's at C3) of his flying robot turrets that keep firing at the opponents (so u can switch characters and still have the turrets)

Passive talent : once u find all the volumes of a book series u can get 3 blue fates, and drops from ruin guards/hunters/graders are drastically increased and can be exchanged for other materials during his character event

Special dish : his own version of the fullmoon egg dish thats just ridiculously spicy and as a result it heals u fully and boosts ur attack as much as bennett's ult <3

Najma (5 star) :

Banner name : "oathkeeper, promise of the fool" where he has an increased drop rate by 50% when u actually go to his spot in game🙄

Weapon name : "celestial arcana" which is his personal tarot deck that acts as a catalyst

Attack : he throws cards into a circle at his opponents while levitating and inflicting electro damage, when the circle is completed every opponent in it will take an additional electro strike

Special attack : they'll pick a major arcana card at random and it'll manifest into a mascot that will distract and fight opponents while inflicting electro damage (exemple : he pulls the wheel of fortune and a wheel rolls around inflicting damage)

Ult : they do a 3 card pull and with each slam of the card on the ground opponents take increased electro damage and if they're still standing the cards in the ground will buff any other character's crit rate and damage

Passive talent : increased luck at quite literally everything whether it be drop rates with mobs or weekly bosses or gacha pulls, when mona is on the team they get extreme luck and won't take damage during the first minute of every fight

Special dish : they're vegetarian so they make their own version of the satisfying salad which is also mona's go to dish because they are simply besties

Claire (4 star) :

Weapon name : "crucifix of doom's messenger" yeah :) thats his sword

Attack : claire will either do a succession of sword slashes if u spam the button or do pirouettes and cast a series of ribbons of water toward the opponents

Special attack : up to 3 opponents are trapped into water bubbles and take damage

Ult : its called "odette's death" and he spawns water wings that close in on groups of opponents casting massive hydro damage, at C6 his ult changes and the area changes into a performance scene where they can't fight and all of his attacks get a massive buff

Passive talent : u don't take fall damage if claire's on ur team, he doesn't eat a lot so he can't get healed often with food because he'll be full in one dish

Special dish : meringue that buffs ur defense so u take less damage

Loki (5 star) :

Banner name : "make sure to get an autograph" where they have 80% chances to drop because they're an attention whore

Weapon name : "official fanclub lightstick" just a magical girl staff that acts as catalyst

Attack : alternates between anemo spells that do crazy damage or just beating opponents up with the lightstick and it gives hp to other teammates

Special attack : extra fast combo where he summons 4 blades of wind that hit groups of opponents

Ult : does a cute pose and sends opponents flying in one group except they start beating them tf up with big anemo cat paws

Passive talent : they're cute they don't need to bring u anything. If Barbara is on the team they'll make more damage, if diluc is on the team they'll make more damage except for every wack of the lightstick thats supposed to heal, diluc looses hp

Special dish : sugar cookies with their face and autograph on them that heal u and give anemo damage bonus

Brynja (5 star) :

Banner name : "vocare hostem veneno" (call of the poison foe) where his drop rate depends on the first ending u got on his hangout event

Weapon name : "annihilator of the forsaken" which is his sword

Attack : heavy. Attacks. They do the most physical damage while inflicting lasting poison damage and on the 5th attack brynja hits the opponent with a wheel of fire

Special attack : its a magical attack where they send a wave of poison at their opponent (if u do it in grass the grass will die in the direction it takes)

Ult : sets fire to the whole era who matter the type of ground and their attacks get buffed, the opponents can't leave the fire zone and get lasting damage of everything

Passive talent : brynja can teleport anywhere without the need of a waypoint and at night their attacks get stronger, at C6 u unlock astaroth's power for 2 minutes when brynja dies and he can one hit most opponents, if put in a team with xiao he will get the effect swirl on most of his pyro attacks

Special dish : vanilla fudge that heal :))

so i’m having thoughts about howl!julian and how esther would still love and cherish her sweet big birb boyfriend but also like....what if there were no reverse or upright ending, in that sense

what if things hadn’t been so rushed and all us monsterfuckers with the upright could get in on this too?? i’m gonna put this biz under a cut so like....really mild spoilers? for upright under the cut this time

what if things had gone differently in the throne room? imo the fight with the devil could have been so much more--we didn’t get a good grasp of how magic works, let alone how it works in his realm, but imagine the pain he could have inflicted on these characters if he’d wanted to, even just illusory pain. esther’s died once--literally died. he knows this. she’s had nightmares about death and fire for the past three years; in the throne room iirc you’re surrounded by ‘black flames’ for a bit there and my terrible imagination went wild.

after their run-in in the magician’s realm, the devil understands two things: one, that esther does in fact have the power to stop him two, that her magically unskilled lover would likely do just about anything if he saw her in pain. and that’s convenient, isn’t it? very much so, now that he’s got them all here, now that she’s decided to try her luck in front of all of these others, the one particular other just feet away from her; the bindings are just an appetizer, but with a bit of a push he can make them so much more decadent.

esther writhes and presses against his hold, but in the dark, false-fire, she struggles not to panic. shut your eyes. they are not real. do not think of that, do not think of those dreams-- but as she squeezes her eyes shut and grits her teeth, something seems to spark in the darkness around her and draws a whimper out of her throat. there is heat, real heat, making her skin burn and run with sweat. the black flames have become very real, suddenly, and she can no longer see the others through them. she’s on her back, now, the bindings having become not chains, but shackles locking her down in this inferno. this cannot be real this cannot be real this feels real this feels real this feels real and she struggles and her heart pounds and her eyes burn with terrified tears and she can’t reason that she was not alive for this, not truly, when they burned her, but that does not make the truth of it any less real. she died. she died on that old, filthy wooden table, and they took her away and burned what remained, and now she feels the heat scorching her skin and in frantic, desperate fear she struggles with what feels like the last of her resolve and strength as the restraints at her wrists and neck and ankles tighten and finally she screams, feeling flesh rend from bone and her body begin to turn to ash-- and then suddenly it stops.

the others are shouting for her, for julian, as they run to her, and she is in a crumpled heap on the floor, sweat-slick and panting for breath, tears soaking her face and the lightest trickle of bile soiling her chin that portia swipes away without a word when she reaches her but julian--julian is-- her hazy eyes find him at the foot of the dais, on hands and knees. immediately she fears the worst and manages to try and wrench free of mazelinka’s grasp, her voice hoarse and cracking as she cries out to him, unable to hear what the devil is saying as he slowly descends the stairs towards the prostrated man. “julian--julian no--!” julian lifts his head to the arcana standing over him, and for a brief moment she sees it there on his face, the confirmation she needs to understand what he’s done, and as the world collapses around the group of them esther can see his mouth move, can hear only his voice through the void: “i love you, esther.”

and just like that, they’re on the sandy beach of the magician’s realm again, and he is not with them.

...i might make a brief series of this just to work out some ideas and junk i had for a Fun™ ending for julian and esther. IM SORRY THIS ISN’T AN ‘IMAGINE’ (is that what you call them) I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT MY BABY ; ~; so uhhhh if yall wanna read more of this feel free to say so

Hello Cor! I just want to share my thoughts and my feelings with you ha ha because I’m so emotional right now like I dunno how to feel… It’s like im in denial but not that much? Im sad and all but the good fandom post and memes make me so happy ha ha and also, i can’t really be sad after such a beautiful chap. It’s was nearly perfect, i really loved it! (I want to say a random fact that this chapter was the longest I spend time on, 3h to read it ha ha ha) So, I have so much to say about it 😂

First, I really loved the contrast of the last two chapter covers with the B&W lycoris/butterfly and the minimalistic look, such an impact and it’s stunning!

Second, all the characters look are amazing! Hide? SUCH A CUTIE AND PERFECT BOI ❤️ (his smiley mask, i can’t 😭) Tsukiyama with his shorter hair and his hair on the side? PERFECT he really looks like a prince and/or a character from a shojo (as expected of TG XD) Nishiki with a little undercut? YASSSS good shit 👌 Urie with no undercut? ALSO VERY GOOD 👌 (he got an Ayato look :x) Mutsuki & Shinsanpei with shorter hair? GIVE IT TO ME Yusa? Still with fluffy hair! Yomo with (i hope it’s pink) ribbons? A dream comes true!!!!!!😭👌 Pleasure-chan? SO FCKING PERFECT SHES PERFECT I CANT OMFG AND KANEKI AND TOUKA ❤️💖❤️💖❤️💖😭👌😭👌😭👌 (and all the characters are perfect so many, to react to them all 😂)

Third, it was so bittersweet to see Ui, Hirako and Kuramoto seeing each other even when they don’t work together anymore and also when they visit Arima with Fura i- i just- 😭😭😭

Fourth, IM SO HAPPY TO SEE TOKAGE FUCKING FINALLY DEAD YES he really deserved it.

Fifth, Yusa grew up so much he’s so cute & hot i can’t 😭❤️ and the Qs and all at the Chateau living like a big family it’s just so perfect i can’t… My heart 😭❤️ Strong vibes from Urie being the Dad and Saiko being the Mom 😂😂😂 Urie smiling genuinely makes me so happy woahhh i love him so much (and him getting a little bit jealous over Mutsuki’s promotion was 👌) and the photos of the Qs… Like the photo Hori took way back in the first volume and the fact that Urie was making the same hand sign as Shirazu in the lastest Qs photo broke my heart… 😭😭😭

Sixth, the whole part with the reunion of Juuzou and Shinohara was too perfect for me, i couldn’t contain my tears… 😭 The page with Juuzou falling on his knees was so damn powerful and the next page have an even bigger impact with the parallel of the first part. Like Juuzou has the same expression for two similar situation… AND ALSO i broke in tears again when i saw the arcana 21 on Juuzou like… It hit me like a truck and reminded me again that it’s the end, it’s the conclusion and i can’t handle that… 😭💔Anyway, im so happy to see that Juuzou and Shinohara are reunited!

Seventh, all the marriages that happened and no AyaHina (yet) im waiting sensei ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) joking, all the marriages are so pure (Naki and Miza ha ha ha Poor Miza she really is strong and their kids are soooo cute, Nishiki and Kimi, I was really happy to be fully canon after that page in the calendar, they are so perfecttttt 💖 [but JB’s translation makes it like they aren’t married so i dunno actually] and Jiro and Banjou, so cute too!).

Eighth, the part with Rio is sad and I wished we could see more of AkirAmon but i dont really mind!

Ninth, I knew Yomo would be head over heels (well who isn’t lmao?) for Pleasure-chan ha ha and Ayato is like his uncle 😂 I laughed so hard when i saw those panels ha ha

Tenth, the new style for the Clowns is greatttt, i feel like everyone cut their hair shorter 😂 Uta is still great with that hair (Itori too) but something bugs me… Uta… Doesn’t have any tattoos anymore? 🤔 I think it’s maybe something Ishida-sensei forgot since he was in such a rush…

And CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW TOUKA IS PERFECT???????????? 💖 THE QUEEN IS PERFECT 💞💖😭👌 and the second baby Kaneki??? SIGN ME THE FCK UP!!!!! I hope it’s a boy so it’ll become a parallel to the Kirishima siblings ❤️ hu hu hu hu hu and is it me or i feel strange having all the characters infos but not Touka’s? :/

But it was great to see (and notice) that the first character we see of the TG series is Hide and that he’s the first one we see on the last chapter AND! the last one with the character info!!! I loved getting a little bit of his backstory (and even if it’s a mistranslation or smth i want Hide to have canon gay dads ha ha)! And to see Kaneki (being saved by Ayato 👌) so happy and all with his family, his friends, his loved ones, is so pure and amazing, he finally made peace and he is living. It’s such a perfect ending and im so proud of him and grateful to sensei. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ The clear blue sky page is so amazing i can’t… And the last nostalgic color page of TouKen? YES & THANK YOU ISHIDA-SENSEI 🙏❤️😭

It was a great manga that i followed for nearly four years with all the screamings, the tears, the stress, the pains and the joys and i never invested so much time and effort (even tho i remained in the shadows, lurking, of the fandom 😂) into a manga before and im so glad i found people that much invested in it and thank you Cor for always bringing the good in the fandom and let your emotions out for us, I really related to you! 😂 You really are a great person imo, so yeah, really, thank you very much for all the things you did! 😄👍 💖

(And i am so sorry for this big ass text i can’t believe it’s that long :x)

Ps : And also i forgot to talk about Kuroiwa being alive… Well im glad the Kuroiwa family is fine but i thought he was dead, and also Takeomi with his child (i hope he becomes a friend of Pleasure-chan and/or Baby Kaneki in the future) was funny and him and Urie being now bff is A+++++

Pps : Despite having being sold the CCG and endured so much, Saiko (and her mysterious brother, i really want to see his face) took care of their mother until the end…

Ppps : Last but not least, this chapter was really full of love and friendship, it was so bright and blinding, wow! Never a TG chapter felt this radiant before!

Tl;dr This chapter was amazing and a roller coaster of emotions but im so happy to know a fabulous manga like that! ❤️ And that’s all, thx for reading all that nonsense ha ha ha 😂😂😂

Ok so I've got an arcana modern college AU

Asra: freshman chemistry major (because chemistry is practically magic) that your apprentice meets at the work study job in the college bookshop. Your boss is known as the Magician because he's a senior chem major who learned how to make drugs or something idk. Asras mom was a physical therapist and dad was an engineer and thats their connection to lucios arm and maybe they are immigrants who lucio got deported or something? Too real? Idk

Muriel: Asra's roommate for obvious reasons. On the football team (b/c that's practically gladiators right?) because its the only way he can pay for college. He's a veterinary science major i think.

Julian: probably a senior or maybe post-grad, maybe this university has a med school attached? Idk but he's studying medicine and he works at the Healthcare center but you see him in the campus Cafe chugging coffee late at night

Portia: double major in culinary science and anthropology or archeology or something. She works in the campus Cafe and you see her harassing julian.

Nadia: the president of the college who graduated from the school and returned after some time to try and fix its issues. Mostly unchanged tbh

Lucio: head of athletics. Blackmails people like muriel into joining with scholarships because the teams SUCK and he promised the trustees he would fix it, his job is on the line. Tying in his death might be like a demotion to janitor or something idk yet. Used to be like a pro football player and got his arm destroyed in a car crash after partying and got the prosthetic and the department head job from his benefactor (devil obvi). Morga is a famous athlete who pushed lucio to greatness.

Courtiers: board of trustees or like the deans of the school. Still very unhelpful.

Major arcana: department heads? Id have to do a little more research but like the star gives me communications department vibes.

I have not watched the falcon and the winter soldier (dont have disney plus, did not have time to find free online) BUT I did have a dream last night where the series ended with Sam and Bucky holding hands in a very non-platonic way and I gotta say I was disappointed when Google told me this was untrue.

I once rolled a quad (or ATV) down a cliff and into a ravine when I was in 7th grade. I jumped off the quad before it started rolling but I ended up tumbling head over heels down the cliff side until a tree caught me. I had a small concussion and it messed up my back so I still have some back problems.

I’m pretty obsessed with The Arcana right now, but I’m also in love with Netflix’s The Dragon Prince.

I used to, but I realized it was toxic so I’ve gotten much better about not holding grudges.

@bundoodlesandjunk @ardens-art-blog hey thank you (and everyone leaving nice tags!!), im glad to you liked the piece!! i immediately got an ask for tarot card with teru, but im debating whether or not i will do it. i still have like eight other requests, and.... i don't know which cards to assign to which people outside reigen and maybe two other characters. i don't know tarot well enough to know from the top of my head that ah, this is them and that is them. the biggest thing tho, is that even the other card and character matches ive thought about? i have no fucking clue how to actually do them. the strong point in the reigen hanged man is how i could easily keep most of the rider waite card symbolism in, or play on it. halo of spiritual enlightenment turned into 1000% reigen aura, the tree of life into spirits and such, the potential to bear fruit into 12 tomatoes because hey, reigen has grown and learned to look at things from a better perspective. reigen doesn't hide his skill, so the gray bg turned blue for showing off wisdom in good and bad sense, but the smoke is there to convey that maybe he should (and how he does obscure things). the card isn't the only and certainly not a perfect fit for him as a character, but it was an easy one to work with. many other cards esp in major arcana.... are not. for example, seri could fit death, but i have no fucking clue how to do it, because the card has so many life and death shorthands and the danse macabre style "all classes of people are equal in the face of death" thing that leaves me "???" because yea those don't fit seri even tho the reading meanings do. so thanks again!! i just wanted to ramble out my thoughts on making a full deck so i used this for it.

Blue Reflection “Steam” Review

I wrote up a long review for a game I’ve been playing lately, and was going to post it as a Steam review until I noticed that my review went over the character limit. Since I couldn’t find a way to cut it down that I liked, I decided to post the full version of the review here. Behind a read more for length and spoilers. (Spoilers are also behind a warning to make the main review low-spoiler.)

Blue Reflection is a magical girl JRPG, a type of game I've been hoping to see for a while. It plays similarly to a Persona game, where it is split into daily life segments for getting to know the characters and otherworld segments for exploring and fighting.

The story is very character-focused, which works to its favor. Most of the story involves the main character gaining power through empathizing with others, allowing herself and those she meets to grow. This power is used to fight supernatural monsters from outer space and the negative emotions they impose on an otherworld sustained by humanity's collective unconscious. While there is an overarching plot, it doesn't get much play until near the end of the game. More information than that goes into spoiler territory, so that will be addressed later.

The "daily life" gameplay is very similar to the Persona series, albeit simpler and more streamlined. Outside of story chapters, free time can be spent exploring the school, completing side quests, or spending time with friends. There are several interesting things you can find in the school, particularly an odd collectible-like system where finding glowing spots in the school will open up new topics for the main character's IM app. Side quests involve either jumping into the otherworld to fight monsters/collect items, or simply bringing items to the person in question. While simple in design, each side quest has an interesting hook to give context to the mission, and so it's interesting to see what each student has problems with. Spending time with friends works similarly to Social Links/Confidants in the Persona series, where you get special events at certain levels of affection. During some of these events, the player may get a choice on how to respond, which changes the skill the player earns from completing that event. There is also a system where, at the end of each day, the player can decide what to do at night, which can cause certain events to play the next morning (sometimes giving stat boosts). There's no real time limit to free time, so it's possible to complete everything except for alternate scenes in a single playthrough.

The other gameplay for the game takes place in "The Common", an otherworld that is shaped by the collective unconscious. Because of its nature, it is split into certain "zones" such as Joy and Fear. Here the player fights monsters and prepares to fight the "Sephirot", giant monsters from outer space. The basic exploration will be familiar to those who have played the Atelier games, since it involves the same kind of on-screen monster icons and the ability to find items in certain areas. Battles are turn-based, though there are some interesting systems unlocked later in the game that make the wait time between turns an active part of the battle (such as allowing the use of a special meter to heal or accelerate turns). Instead of having XP, the game uses "growth points" to level up, which are gained exclusively from story progress and spending time with friends in daily life. This reduces some of the grind found in other JRPGs. On the other hand, it's easy enough to grind growth points from spending time with friends that combat will be easy for most of the game, even on the hardest difficulty. Each character also learns far more skills than you will ever need to use, and some skills end up being redundant because of this. While there is a system for learning specific skills in the growth point system, whatever combination of level ups you decide on will end up leaving you more than powerful enough to win. This is made even easier since HP/MP is restored after each fight. Battles can still be fun once you've become overpowered, but don't go into the game expecting something as difficult as a Megami Tensei game.

The last major gameplay element involves fighting the giant bosses. These are 2-3 phase fights that involve a single large enemy with multiple parts. You can finish each phase just by killing the main part, but each sub-part you kill will be inactive for a while and cause a debuff to the main body. These fights also allow the non-magical friends of the main character to support the team, usually with small buffs or attacks that increase the special gauge (which allows for certain abilities between turns later in the game, as mentioned earlier). These fights are usually about as easy as the rest of the game, but may take a bit longer due to high HP and the need for the player to heal.

Overall, it's a fun magical girl RPG, though not something for anyone looking for a challenge. This is very much a game focused on the stories of its major characters, with the main story and battles as part of the experience (but not the focus).

A note on the PC port: The game no longer has a game-breaking crash thanks to a patch, but it still is pretty resource-hungry and can crash under certain conditions. If you don't have a pretty recent computer, it may be better to look into the PS4 version.

Now, onto some spoiler talk... If you want to go in blind, the review essentially ends here.

Note: I'm going to assume some basic knowledge of character names and such, in order to avoid making this part of the review longer than it already is.

To start with, I really like the characters and most of the story of the game. That might come into question with my later ramblings if I don't point it out right away. It's mostly how the main plot was handled near the end that gets to me.

With that said, let's start with some good things about the story. I really like most of the characters, and they all have really nice stories when you complete their friendship events. Even some characters that I wouldn't give a chance in real life ended up growing on me. The daily life main plot regarding the school festival was also a really nice way to explain why Hinako was getting so close to her classmates.

Now, something I have a problem with is the Sephirot. Aside from sounding cool, I have a hard time finding out what connections they have to Kabbalah and its philosophy. Aside from surface connections (Yesod, the foundation, being the first one fought; Da'at/Daath, the place where all Sephirot are one, being the last fought), I can't see a whole lot of how these space monsters are connected to Jewish mysticism. Now, the series everyone thinks inspired the game--the Megami Tensei franchise--also makes heavy use of mythology in every game. But those games also show their work in how everything connects to what they are named after. The tarot arcana in the Persona series are always thematically related to the people they are assigned to. The initial and ultimate personae of the leads are connected to the theme of the game. (For example, Orpheus/Thanatos are connected to Death.) Aside from Daath's sudden idea to combine all of humanity into one being, I don't see much connection between Blue Reflection's Sephirot and the real world's idea of Sephirot. Maybe this is a lack of research on my part, but it still bugs me.

The main plot also contradicts itself and becomes a mess near the end. Yuzu and Lime being ghosts is actually foreshadowed fairly early, but then gets swept under the rug until the reveal. More importantly, Daath directly contradicts things that Yuzu, Lime, and Yuri claim, and no one explains why this thing that shows up in the last twenty minutes of the game is suddenly changing all the information we were told. For instance, Yuzu and Lime claim that there are 22 singularities, each with a Reflector. This is further shown in a scene without Hinako that proves they aren't lying to her about this. But then, after they are outed as ghosts, they say there is only one Reflector at a time. Hinako never addresses this, and Daath later points out that only Hinako is a Reflector. There's a lot more I could complain about Daath, really. Yuzu and Lime also recognize it (him?) when he decides to show up in the final scene, yet never thought to mention him to Hinako before he started killing and absorbing people.

Even worse than Daath is the ending. I was mostly okay with it at first, despite not liking how many Japanese stories seem to end with timeloops or resets. (I have to wonder if Puella Magi Madoka Magica inspired Blue Reflection to use this particular trope, despite this game not needing such a plot point.) But the more I think about it, the suckier it is without making some serious assumptions. Basically, Yuzu and Lime return to being dead. Daath is gone, but apparently might come back later (he's not clear on whether he's dying or not). But everything else in the story snaps back to the opening cutscene, aside from Hinako remembering some of what happened. This memory alone seems to warrant a bittersweet, rather than downer, ending. But keep this in mind: this means that all twelve of Hinako's friends and all of the sidequest characters are back to where they were at the start of the game. Rin is back to being indecisive about her crush. Sarasa is back to being bitter and upset that Hinako stopped ballet. Shihori is back to being hated for something she isn't doing. Mao is back to being a loner jerk that keeps others at arms length. All of those problems that Hinako fixed are now undone, and now she doesn't have magic or Yuzu/Lime to help her re-fix everything. You have to assume that Hinako can befriend everyone again and help them in more mundane ways to solve their problems, otherwise the ending is really depressing. Yet Hinako is just happy that she didn't forget about Yuzu and Lime, and we're supposed to be okay with just that. I thought this game was about empathy and friendship overcoming adversity, not how everything one does in life is ultimately pointless.

There are other things that bother me, but those are the more major ones. Accidentally undercutting the premise of the story in the last half hour of the game is not really a good way to leave a lasting impression. I still like the game, but unless a sequel/spinoff fixes some of the issues, I have to mentally rewrite or re-contextualize the ending in order to be okay with it.

At any rate, I still recommend the game. It's a fun game, and the character-focused parts of the story are really good. As a story of how Hinako comes to terms with not being able to dance again thanks to her new friends, it works well. Just try not to take the self-contradicting myth arc too seriously if you don't want to get annoyed.
