him fixing himself wasnt really bc of his rational mind. if anything it was a glutteral, instinctual Need that really pushed him to mold himself into a being all over again. however bc his spirit is binded with xuansu's, on top of his spirit almost disappearing bc of how much scattered, bringing the pieces of himself together took a LOT of time

by the time he took form, sqq was long dead

not sure if he shouldve been the one to end lbg, but itd be kind of cool if that was the case

and so yqy, whose entire purpose is to protect sj, roams the world looking for his reincarnation

in the background apocalyptic shit happens that leads the world to abandon and/or forget about cultivation, which leads us to the modern world!!🥳

sj still has a hard-knock life on the streets and then with the qius--can u tell im a sucker for the history repeats itself trope. he doesnt remember anything, but he Does feel like someone is missing. like someone that Should be there Isnt. its a constant feeling in the back of his mind, but he always pushed it away to focus on the now.

like what happened in his first life, sj has enough of all the abuse and kills qjl. what Changes though is that yqy is finally--after thousands and hundreds of years--on time

yqy burns everything down.

sj isnt sure what to make of this malevolent being. no one else but him can see it, though people /can/ see when it moves things around. people have always mentioned to sj that they feel like someone's watching them, though when they look around no one is looking their way

it makes people leave him alone, which is honestly what sj prefers

its (he's?) his savior and he makes him feel safe, yes, but who knows when that wrath gets directed at himself. his head is screaming at the threat yqy poses while his instinct and soul tells him hes safest with yqy. for a long time sj walks on eggshells around yqy, sometimes trying to escape his presence

his attempts always fail, though. somehow.

he eventually starts to warm up to yqy. sj has a feeling that this...thing was always meant to be by his side (as illogical as that sounds). he no longer has that feeling of a missing presence, something he'd felt since he'd developed a consciousness as a very young child

sj even finds the ghost a bit endearing, in his infinite gentleness to contrast his terrifying, sharp form. he doesnt understand why the ghost is so protective over him (the ghost once almost flew into a destructive frenzy over everything except him when he and his team went to investigate a deep, unexplored ravine that appeared out of nowhere), but that was endearing too

one day sj got tired of calling the ghost “the ghost”, so he decided to find him a name. the ghost seems to have an opinion on this, as his thick eyebrows turned downwards every time sj called/proposed to him a name to be referred to. the progress was non existent, so sj started spouting out random characters and then later on numbers. when sj gets to “qi”, the ghost very excitedly straightens up from its seemingly perpetual hunched posture.

“7?” sj snorts, finding it a little funny. who knows, perhaps spirits loose their marbles the longer they stay amongst the living. he watches “qi’s” eyes crease into happy crescents, the shadows seeping away from his form retreating back into himself. his form looks more solid: less blurry and more clearer at the edges.

“lao qi, you really are weird” sj says fondly, though is inwardly confused when lao qi seems to deflate a little. perhaps he didnt want to be reminded of his age?

"what, do you want to be called xiao qi?" qi's eyes twitch, as if weirded out. "thought so. qige?"

at this, qi's eyes widen into two happy suns, joyfully—on instinct—coming closer. but then stops himself a pace away, as if remembering himself

Thanksgiving was a little chaotic in your family, when everyone gathered together and all sat down for the annual fall meal, only this year it was your boyfriend Oscar’s first time attending it with you. He knew you got your vibrant and extroverted personality from your parents, but now that he looks back on it, he’s pretty sure your entire family played a part in it.

“Oscar when do you and my little sunshine plan on having children hmm?” your grandma asked, causing you to choke on your water

Oscar laughed patting your back gently to help with your coughing

that being said, there's definitely a vocal subset of fans who are being very Loud and Obnoxious about how much they think the show sucks. i know the translator for eigo has gotten a bit of flak on twitter for defending the show (what do you want him to do??), and there was a whole hubbub a while back about how hotaro is So Bad that toei is going to outright replace him with kamen rider legend (sure.), and it's like. this is the show you're getting Mad™ about? you really want to plant your flag as the #1 Gotchard Hater? who has time for this

it reminds me how ghost has been the fandom's punching bag since it started airing. "well, saber was dogshit but at least it wasn't ghost!" Hiii, of course u can, this is the first angst i have written in a long time so idk if it’s good or not but i hope u like it, also sorry for taking so long to answer i had to read a lot of angst to remember how to write it lol

—---- One week ago —--- 

You called for the fifty time and Carl still did not answer, you were growing tired of his behavior. You’ve been dating for two years now but it didn't felt like it, it felt like an eternity, all the fights were making you tired of the relationship, it didn't help that Carl didn't seem to care about your feelings, always showing up late from work, answering messages after a long period of time and ignoring your wishes. 

It felt like the purest lack of gratitude you've ever seen, during the relationship you tried to do everything for Carl, talked to him when he fought with his brothers, tried to get along with everyone in the Gallagher family, which led to a ritual from shopping every month with Debbie and playing games on Fridays with Liam, cooking for him, helping to tidy up his apartment and cleaning his car.

Y/n did everything but nothing seemed to be enough for Carl, you were the only one who was fighting for the relationship unfortunately, because what came from Carl's side was just the desire to have sex. 

While waiting hopelessly for Carl to show up, you started to think about the future.

"Do I want to keep doing this? Being a doormat for a guy who apparently only uses me for sex. I do everything and he doesn't even thank me"

After a long period of waiting you got tired and decided that you would call him one last time, and this time would be the last of all, you had decided, it was time to break up with Carl. 

Before you could scream the name of your future ex-boyfriend, you heard footsteps coming from the hallway of the tiny apartment, Carl was stomping the soles of his feet,

"He’s angry" you thought, Carl didn't usually get angry with you so easily, unless you complained about something about the two of you dating.

“I was getting ready, what the fuck y/n you keep rushing me, I'm coming to you, fuck” he said. 

“Okay, sorry to rush you, but we're over an hour late.” you said trying not to cry by the sound of anger in his voice. “Can we go now?”

After the date you were heading back to the apartment when Carl said "You need to be a little more patient, I always take time to get ready you know that things won't work out right if you rush me every time"

When the car parked you said, in a high tone almost screaming, almost as if you were letting out a long-kept secret "I do not want it anymore".

Carl looked at you confused, but you didn't bother to look at him, you were tired, tired of everything. 

"I don't want to keep up with this anymore, i'm tired,i don't want to be the only one who cares about our relationship, the only one who actually gives a fuck about the other" 

Carl looked at you with an astonished face. "What are you talking about? Do you want to break up with me just because I'm late?"

"It's not just that, it's because of everything, I can't take our relationship anymore, I can hardly call what we have a relationship and you know it"

You got out of the car, being followed by Carl and before you could enter the apartment you said "i will be leaving this week, im gonna grab my staff and head back to my own house"

Carl didn’t say anything, in fact, he helped you grab your stuff the entire week, it seemed like he was just acting like a robot, doing things on automatic, it almost felt like he was kicking you out of the apartment, or so it seemed.

She was there again, Carl thought to himself while he saw you walking down the street. It wasn't the first time Carl followed you, you guys had ended your relationship with great regret after all the fights, and a double-edged sword seemed stuck in his throat with all the things he wanted to say, should have said, but got stuck in the pit of his stomach and stored away in his chest.

Y/n seemed to be fine, was wearing a big blouse, which Carl remembered how you dressed when you first started dating, just a big blouse, a pair of sneakers and a headdress. You didn't really care about the way you dressed, but when you started dating Carl realized that your boyfriend always gave a little bit about what you wanted to wear, he was always like that, he didn't care about the important things about your relationship and interfered when they were banal things.

When you broke up, it didn't take long for Carl to realize that things in his life didn't fit together anymore, but it was already too late for him, for you, he should have paid more attention this two years and not now, and certainly not just one week ago. You moved on, but Carl didn’t. You were happy, but Carl wasn't.

He only realized his mistakes when you showed up in this little coffee shop smiling like you hadn't smiled in a long time.

He lost you, but you didn’t lose anything.

Anything that breaks like, maybe people in this setting dont have the same customs, but their gonna do something so you the audience can recognize it. Non literal/accurate use of colour and lighting, for mood and clarity. Breaking the physical shape and scale of things so they can appear and be readable on screen. COSTUMING COSTUMING COSTUMING. A well styled character can do soooo much for your understanding of a work, especially with large casts, and a poorly styled one can take me right out. You’re very right, he would be the perfect boyfriend for that!

I’ll just start by saying that Arthur is a very low-energy person (at least around his S/O.) He would never push his partner to do anything high effort, and he doesn’t mind doing the household chores. He’s been living on his own for centuries, so him needing your help with anything is a rare occurrence already.

But he’d never brush off your sickness. No matter how tired or stressed he is, he makes sure you’re alright first. For a while during war times, he would work as a nurse. So he knows what people look like when they’re suffering. He can tell… you’re one of those people.

(And because of that knowledge, you can totally trust him to deal with your meds for you. Plus any minor injuries? He’s on it.)

You’ll basically never have to tell him when something is wrong. The longer you’re together, the more in tune he is with your health. He’ll notice when your breaths become harder, when your steps become slower, and when you struggle to speak through the pain. And when that happens, he’s immediately yanking you out of that situation. 

When you’re in public, he usually brings a few things to help. Whether that be an inhaler, pain meds, just water, whatever. He’ll always make time to be with you while you recover.  Plus, he’s very good at coming up with excuses for leaving situations. Sometimes too good. Has he been using those on you? (He hasn’t. Don’t worry.)

And on days that you’re completely knocked out by your illness, he’s completely content to just sit in bed next to you. It’s quite nice, actually. He’ll bring you food whenever you need it which, the quality is questionable, but it’s better than nothing. Which is probably what you would’ve ended up eating if it weren’t for him. And if you ask, he’ll read you some of the book that he was occupied with all day. And with that accent? If your breath wasn’t already taken away by your sickness, that would’ve done it instead.

Did I mention he is very much willing to wield his authority to get doctors to take you seriously? Because pretty quickly he’s gonna demand to join you in some appointments just to tell those doctors off for trying to minimise your pain. You think it’s too risky to prescribe something that’s perfectly safe? Sure, only if you want some thousand-year-old twink getting your entire business shut down, under orders directly from the crown!

No matter what need, no matter how much your health deteriorates, Arthur is going to be by your side supporting you through all of it. You’re not the first sick lover he’s had, you know? It doesn’t affect his view of you in the slightest. You’ll never be a burden or an annoyance to him. He loves you just as much as he would any “typically healthy” partner.

every single time without fail theres some kind of nonsensical no-stakes "fall out boy vs my chemical romance" smackdown on tumblr dot hell theres always this little nest of fans who scream and cry and go "we shouldnt pit them against each other we are friends and cousins and holding hands!!!" and it always makes me think of how this wretched webbed site was circa 2015. some of you werent active at the time so ill tell you what that was like.

abap-era fandom was like an absolute bloodbath in the worst possible ways because that's when bandom on tumblr was like still at its peak but thats also when twenty one pilots was getting enormous so we had racists swarming out of the woodwork and a lot of people who didnt want to admit they were racist and all that fun stuff. and i just really really really remember quite vividly the way that pete was building up hype for the boys of zummer tour by saying "you are NOT gonna expect who we go touring with" and ofc everyone started theorizing and going wild and pulling out whatever big name they could think of. blink-182 was one of the big ones but the other really really big one i remember was everyone saying "oh my chemical romance is gonna reform and they're gonna tour with my chem!!!" you know, my chemical romance, the band that was broken up for 2 years at this point, the band that wasn't a band anymore.

anyway they announce the boys of zummer tour with wiz khalifa and naturally, again, the racists come crawling out of whatever anal cavities theyd been sleeping in to be like MUH MUH MUH fob is touring with a rAPPER UGH can i SKIP wiz's set i don't feel SAFE in that CROWD and it was, you know, generally disgusting shit coming out of the fob fandom but on top of that we had inexplicably rly salty my chem fans ALSO piling on the racism because they built up the hype for this magical reformation that wasnt going to happen and had no indication of happening. so imagine if you will, what was roughly the equivalent of if you were trying to clean a shitton of nuclear waste out of your house that was corroding everything and making the entire place Uninhabitable and then out of nowhere your neighbors decided that that they were going to start bailing in more garbage through the window like they were absolutely fucking stone cold determined to make your home the goddamn elephants foot forcing you to deal with THAT in addition to all the other, preexisting garbage you were already struggling to deal with.

so yes, you know, sure. our bands both got big at the same time and the scene didnt fucking like them and all they had was each other at the start. and, sure, our fandoms are cousins or family or whatever because of that. but you know, that doesnt mean i want to deal with the racist cousin coming around every so often actually. maybe i dont want to hang out with the racist cousin. maybe im going to tell the racist cousin to fuck off and stop coming around unless they feel up to cleaning up their act. maybe i dont like the racist cousin, and im tired of making allowances for them.

1) empty cinema scene: ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED SCENES IN THE ENTIRE SHOW IM SO HAPPY YOU MENTIONED IT BECAUSE WE DON’T TALK NEARLY ENOUGH ABOUT IT!!!!! literally the proof that no one can cheer talay up and get him out of his own head like puen does!!!! talay's ridiculously fond smile as puen pretends the cinema is full of people, the way he actually plays along with it after the initial 'what the hell are you doing' reaction.... we always make fun of puen for being down bad BUT GOD TALAY IS SO SMITTEN TOO he sees puen tearing up while watching the movie (THEIR movie) and his first instinct is to gently wipe away those tears LIKE IF THAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU WANT TO BITE YOUR OWN ARM OFF AND FEED IT TO THE WOLVES THEN I ENVY YOU TBH. and the most insane thing is that at the time he didn’t even know he was in love with puen, he hadn’t realized it yet, while puen was already fully aware of his own feelings for talay. puen who, during the voice over, says "it's you. if it wasn't for you, this movie wouldn't have happened. without you, my screenplay wouldn't be this good", which parallels what he tells talay at the end of episode 4, "if it's not you, i wouldn't be able to work this well". and looking back at it, i really feel like it shouldn't have surprised me so much to learn that puen realized he was in love with talay at the glass house, because he was basically shouting it from the rooftops. "which scene is your favorite?" talay asks him. "the last scene where both of them meet again in the coffee shop," puen answers, because "i went there with you". it's you. it can't be anyone but you. i love you, i love you, i love you. IM TRULY NEVER GONNA GET TIRED OF SAYING HOW THEY INVENTED PARALLELISM ROMANTICISM SOULMATISM ALSO NOT THEM BEING SO ENTHRALLED BY EACH OTHER THEY DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE THAT UP AND AOU WERE THERE TOO PEOPLE IN LOVE ARE THE WORST

2) talay’s foggy glasses kiss: NO THOUGHTS HEAD EMPTY AND EVEN IF I HAD ANY I WOULD KEEP THEM BETWEEN ME AND GOD BECAUSE THEY SURE AS HELL WOULDN'T BE FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION. like i make fun of puen for being horny all the time but also i get it. if talay confessed to have been in love with me since the very first time we met by using a very similar line i liked from a movie we watched together years ago all while looking so warm and cuddly in an oversized sweater, i would feel compelled to kiss him senseless too. also not to be petty, but as much as people like to say jimmysea can't kiss, this is the only time i can fully believe a make out session left a character breathless, with weak knees, and a little turned on like THE FOGGY GLASSES, TALAY'S LIPS ALL RED FROM KISSING, HIS HAIR MESSED UP FROM PUEN'S HANDS RUNNING THROUGH IT, HIS EYES COMPLETELY GLAZED OVER...... REARRANGED MY GUTS MY SOUL MY ENTIRE LIFE AND EVERYTHING I EVER THOUGHT I KNEW THE SPECTRE OF THE PERSON I WAS WHEN I FIRST SAW THIS KISS HAUNTS MY EVERY WAKING MOMENT THEY REALLY DID THE MOST

3.a) grafitti library scene: PAIN SUFFERING TORMENT AGONY ANGUISH BUT ALSO THE TENSION THE UNDERCURRENT THE WHOLE ENTIRE EVERYTHING OF IT ALL I HATE TO SEE THEM FIGHT BUT GOD I LOVE THIS SCENE I REALLY DO. i just think it's such an important moment, character-wise, and it's also the first big turning point in their relationship, just like the separation in episode 6 is, because the conflict is actually functional to their growth, especially puen's. puen is already so deeply in love here, but it's so painfully obvious that he has no idea how to go about it and that he is still struggling to find himself, so he defaults to what he knows, to being puen the actor, and that's what he ends up putting on, an act, a big over the top romantic one that could have come out from a movie, but even if the feelings behind it are genuine, the gesture itself isn't, and talay KNOWS, because puen is the kind of person that quietly waits outside his university all day just to spend a little more time with him, not the one that makes a spectacle out of it. this is what makes talay finally snap, because while we see him being very confused about his feelings throughout the episode, and very doubtful about puen's too, you can see that part of him did believe in puen's sincerity ("lately, someone has done something nice to me," talay says to dol a little later in the episode, "so nice that i thought he was serious"), which is why it hurts so much to see talay's crestfallen expression when he asks puen "so all you've done is for your screenwriting?" (and since we're talking about it SEA'S ACTING HERE IS SO GOOD AND YET SO UNDERRATED IM EATING MY FIST) and puen doesn't realize how upset talay really is until it's too late, until he tries to explain and maybe even confess something ("im not messing with you. i--") but talay doesn't want to listen anymore. however this rejection is essential to make puen understand that he has to stop hiding under puen the actor and start being puen the person if he wants to be with talay. this is a long process that will only end in episode 10, when he'll finally be ready to tell talay his name, but this was the first step towards it: as misguided as the kiss in the glass house is, it's also the moment where puen stops playing a role and starts following his feelings. i honestly don't think it's a coincidence that in this episode the password used for the association is "you're not a movie. you are real."

3.b) ‘Do you want me to live with you or do you want something 18+’ unhinged daydream: PEAK DERANGED PUEN MOMENT HE REALLY SAID LET ME ADMIT OUT LOUD ALL THE ROMANTIC DOMESTIC HALF HORNY FANTASIES I'VE EVER HAD ABOUT YOU. IM PRETTY SURE THAT IF TALAY DIDN'T STOP HIM HE REALLY WOULD HAVE GONE INTO FULL 18+ NSFW XXX TERRITORY THERE IS JUST NOT A SINGLE OUNCE OF SHAME IN THIS BOY'S BODY AND YET TALAY STILL THINKS HE’S DOING IT FOR THE BIT. INSANITY LUNACY MADNESS AND PEOPLE WONDER WHY HAVE I GONE CRAZY. on a more serious note, i already said it before, but i absolutely love how the talay in puen's daydreams is just like the real talay, so much so that we could hardly tell that what we were seeing wasn't actually what was happening, because it shows that puen loves him as he is, warts and all, and that in puen's head their relationship turning into a romantic one wouldn't change who they are or how they interact with each other: they would still bicker and banter and be friends, and that's one of the things i love the most about them. ALSO ALL THE DETAILS IN PUEN'S FANTASY ACTUALLY BECOMING TRUE MAKES ME WANT TO RIP MY HEART OUT AND EAT IT BUT LET'S NOT GO THERE

4) wedding scene: I HAVE MULTIPLE ORGANS FAILURE EVERY TIME I REWATCH THIS SCENE POSSIBLY BECAUSE THEIR OUTFITS HERE ARE MY FAVORITE FOR BOTH OF THEM IN THE ENTIRE SHOW BUT MAINLY BECAUSE PUEN IS REALLY OUT THERE JUST SAYING SHIT LIKE "I SHOULD JUST MARRY A COLORIST" IN EPISODE 4!!!!!! BOY HAS JUST REALIZED HE'S IN LOVE LIKE 2 DAYS AGO AND IS ALREADY PLANNING THEIR WEDDING IN HIS HEAD!!!!!! also i adore how the writers use this specific setting to let us know the characters' current attitude towards love: puen talking about getting married and having a partner vs talay being focused on working on the video, puen catching the bouquet with no fear vs talay shielding himself from it.... THIS IS WHY I DESPERATELY NEED THE PUENTALAY WEDDING IN OUR SKYY I /NEED/ P'X TO GIVE ME THIS PARALLEL IT WOULD SIMPLY BE SO DELICIOUS. and not to be that person but fucking raw in that venue right then and there would have been less obscene than the looks they be throwing at each other while puen tells the entire room he is hitting on talay and then gives him the bouquet. jimmysea really be showing up on set every day like we're gonna display so much adoration desire yearning and love through the look in our eyes alone AND I LOVE THEM SO MUCH FOR IT

5) puen reading shojo manga: OF COURSE PUEN WOULD LOVE SHOUJO WHEN HE IS SO INTO LOVE AND ROMANCE IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE AND IT'S HONESTLY SO ADORABLE I HOPE TALAY BUYS HIM AN ENTIRE LIBRARY FOR HIM TO FILL WITH ALL HIS FAVORITE MANGA. and i think it's interesting to point out that shoujo, much like the color pink, is something that has been forcefully connected to a whole set of 'feminine' characteristics that society tells men are off-limits for them: men don't need to be caring and sweet and romantic and cute.... but puen is very much all of these things, and maybe his reticence in admitting he likes shoujo is yet another way he hides his real self away because he's scared not to be liked, which makes talay's genuine interest all the more important. also we tend to associate shoujo with romance, but the three more common narrative themes in the genre are a focus on human relations and emotions, characters that defy traditional roles and stereotypes surrounding gender and sexuality, and depictions of supernatural and paranormal subjects. i am very Tired of people ignoring how severely traumatized vi is. like ok i get it jinx is a lot more noticeably Not Okay, but r we seriously going to look at jinx say “omg her childhood was so traumatic” when vi took the brunt of a lot of their traumatic experiences in her earlier childhood?? 

vi at like 10-12 led her little sister on a bridge that was on fire and filled with enforcers and dead bodies to go find their parents only to stumble across her mothers fucking corpse (some ppl think that she witnessed their deaths but idk). bc their parents were now dead vi immediately assumed a parental role which caused her to lose more of her already stolen childhood in an effort to protect jinx. 

she held a lot of responsibility for a teenager and was assigned leader/parent to her siblings. most of what she did was to help her family and community. ive seen some people say that she kind of imprinted onto vander when they first see him meaning she adopted the kind of personality he had then. shes brash and blunt and willing to take all different manners of pain to protect her family. i would bet that theres a sense of fear of losing them because she lost her parents. vi feels guilty for really anything because she feels that leadership and responsibility with all of her friends and family. 

so not only is she putting herself in physical danger to protect her family but she also torments herself if she fails or slips up. then in a desperate effort to save her father figure who raised her and taught her and saved her, she finds out her little sister accidentally just killed their entire adoptive family. so she lashes out in one of the few ways she knows how which is physically. is it okay?? fuck no. but understandable? yeah. she literally lost everything in the span of minutes. then she turns around and finds out that the reason for all of this is her little sister who came along even though she was told not to. 

so its a matter of loss of control and a loss of family and crushing guilt because she failed to protect them. i think something that really stands out too is how in ep 1 or 2 vander gives vi the whole leadership lecture “you say light a fire they show up with oil” which is essentially “you are responsible for the outcomes of your leadership decisions” the whole effort to save vander was coordinated by vi. this rescue mission ended with her and powder being the sole survivors of her family. 

then she’s thrown into prison at 14-17 until she is in her early or mid twenties. in stillwater she is physically and psychologically abused for six straight years. her sole outlet for all her guilt and grief is anger. so she builds a reputation for herself knowing there is no end of her sentence in sight and with the crushing fear that her little sister, who she hurt and abandoned (in her mind), is dead. she brutalizes other inmates and lands herself into solitary confinement often. 

then when she’s broken out she experiences a sort of culture shock with how much the lanes have changed, the shimmer problem worsening, and the way the last drop has gone from welcoming and gruff to barred off and threatening. she expresses herself in her go to coping mechanism which is beat the shit out of other people and getting the shit beat out of herself. she learns that her little sister is still alive but is working for silco. 

there HAS to be a level of betrayal and anger in that. i don’t believe it overrides her sheer relief and hope at the knowledge of her little sister being alive, but i believe its still very much there. silco cultivated the environment in which their family was slaughtered, took over their childhood home, and corrupted the undercity with swathes of shimmer. 

i looked away from my screen and stopped hyperfocusing uh.. im gonna finish this off the best i can but im stupid and i hear every noise now.

moving beyond into act 3 where do we even fucking start. okay, her sister shooting her?? terrifying. it is very hard for vi to understand just how much jinx has changed over the years. then believing to witness her death, you can see in the council scene just how apathetic she has become. 

the tea party scene and leadup i think are the scariest scenes in the show. jinx is clearly drugged out from her slow and borderline slurring voice. she puts vi in a very vulnerable situation that demands full trust from her, while she does get that in jinx’s eyes (from my opinion) vi hasn’t fully passed the test. vi is literally forced to choose between killing caitlyn (someone she has become very emotionally attached too) and leaving jinx (her little sister who she thought was dead for years). this is so traumatic i cannot believe ppl are glossing over this. my brain is loud and i cant think anymore but like... so tired of ppl not really paying attention and seeing how traumatized so many of the characters are and instead focusing so heavily on jinx. yes jinx is the heart of the show, yes she is incredible mental illness representation, yes she is a fantastic fucking character, but she is not the only one.

On the note about how claudes writing in hopes is just fucking horrific and well feels pretty racist. i just did not like how they enforced the whole "he's actually a schemer therefore he's a backstabbing asshole" on not JUST a brown character but a brown character who's inspiration is from west asia aka the middle east which its a pretty standard stereotype used in the west

this is gonna go slightly personal but i myself am middle easterner by birth and three houses claude felt like a breath of fresh air on a more positive depiction of a west asian inspired character (even though i was kinda curious if he rlly was super sus or not lol) and then seeing he's willing to call out almyran bandits who are posing as the navy in alois and shamirs paralouge just felt. nice yknow that hes gonna go and tell to their faces that "your pillaging and plundering is the reason why we're getting shit on" and he's not a bloody conquerer and more "ok i just want people to get along and not be judged from where they come from" and hes more neutral between the two lords in a sense like it just FEELS NICE because i live in a region that 2/3 of the place is in SHAMBLES and we rarely get positive rep in media. and hes kinda the reason how i slowly started to embrace my culture after years of internalized racism. plus theres some aspects in his design, his real name 'khalid' and the instrumentals of his theme "golden deer and the crescent moon" just felt so familiar to me (plus adding nader whos name means rare or unique in arabic and he just looks like how i imagine gilgamesh would look like in an anime lol its kinda funny)

so you could imagine how fucking appalling it was for me to witness this shit in golden wildfire. like "yeahhhh lets make him out of character and make him sort of appease the empire and collaborate with them" like this ALREADY gave me bad vibes. like ok im fine with him making treaties and plans that could be risky. thats how strategies goes. but going on and try to invade another nation because you forcefully want them to surrender someone you want to get rid of because itll end the war apparently. thats not the man who said something about wanting change but does not agree on CONQUERING AND UNNECESSARY BLOODSHED . like ok i get he might not like rhea too much at first but he couldve just what he does best in three houses is probably idk TALK HER ON WHY FODLAN IS SO ISOLATIONIST??????!?. like im trying to like some aspects thats making him slightly different but i just CANT. dont get me started on how dirty almyras been portrayed in hopes. like i can acknowledge VW having writing issues (its my first route and i still enjoy the interactions) but having GW as your first route because haha im biased was just "ok so we can just. oh. OH NO". and before anyone goes around saying this means i hate edelgard. i dont. nor do i adore her. im pretty neutral about her (gasp this almost sounds completely impossible to some knuckle heads) but i feel like there was prolly some restraints to her writing. and i DESPISE this fandom when they try to say "oh if you like claude like this then you like dimitri" or "oh if you like claude that way then you like edelgard".

how about shut the fuck up and enjoy the fact hes trying to be different than the two because there are claude fans that like both dimitri and edelgard and others just dont care because its not their business. stop thrusting us into this dumb shit like we're just a status type to be harassed for these two characters. theres so many other things i wanna say but frankly im too tired

Like I said, I always try to give writers/creators in general the benefit of the doubt when something like this happens, since it's entirely possible that they weren't aware of what exactly it is they're writing. But that doesn't mean that the end result still isn't something that, bare minimum, is very upsetting to the groups of people involved. I’m so sorry that Hopes made you so uncomfortable, after 3H had finally given a character that deviated from such shitty tropes.

Because, like, say what you will about Almyra's writing in 3H - how they weren't fleshed out, how they already had some uncomfortable aspects to them (like invading for literally no reason) - but at the very least they didn't actively engage in pillaging. That was never once implied to have been something that they did, so the fact that Hopes just randomly throws that into the mix is... Not Good. Very Bad, in fact. Especially when combined with Hopes lack of any mention whatsoever about the Gonerils taking Almyran soldiers as slaves to work for their household (and the abuse the Almyrans suffer while being there), and when combined with how it’s a Fodlan (white) character who has to tell the naughty little Almyran to not plunder. Say what you will about 3H's depiction of Almyra and how untouched it was, that doesn't mean that Hopes had to make the Almyran King so incompetent at his job as to be genuinely dangerous - literally anyone with Nader's favor could manipulate him into signing off anything they want like Clyde does. Shahid is an entirely new character! They had all the free reign in the world to make Shahid damn near anything (within reason), and they make him... a stupid, power-hungry, violent invader. And nothing else. Again, "attribute not to malice" and all that, but to straight up ignore the troubling new additions Hopes gives to Almyra - some, again, with NO backing from 3H to explain them at all - isn't the right way to go about it either imo.

I've talked at extensive length about the absolute character assassination Claude went through in the majority of the game, but holy fucking shit am I with you on that stupid take. "The only people who hate Hopes!Claude/think Hopes!Claude is OOC are Dimitri stans" because apparently only Dimitri stans are able to see Claude's lack of curiosity or intellect, or how his newfound proclivity to use violence first and thinking second is diametrically opposed to how he ever acted in 3H, or the inherent contradiction in "Claude's goals are to better foreign relations, now watch as he actively uses and worsens Faerghus' foreign relations with Sreng for his own gain," or how him bringing up the war between Faerghus and the Alliance that happened centuries ago as an excuse to invade Faerghus now is ANOTHER thing that literally completely goes against the entire point of his character. Claude fans would of course obviously no-brainer know that these mutually exclusive traits between his 3H and Hopes renditions could totally for-realsies surely coexist and be consistent.

Although, ngl, I myself have said that it's mostly Edelgard fans that like this rendition of Claude. Not that there's no way a Claude fan couldn't at least find some things to enjoy about Hopes!Claude, but that it seems that a laaaarge majority of his fans are people who prefer the lady lord over him. And, well, it makes sense considering that a big thing a lot of Edelgard fans - not even just stans tbh - tended to do with Claude is just make him Edelgard's snarky yes-man who just mindlessly believes whatever it is she says... and, well, Clyde is either just a snarky yes-man to Edelgard who just mindlessly believes whatever it is she says, or he's getting chewed out/killed for going against her. Unless it's AG! ...where by the time Claude is having any part in the story Edelgard is no longer the actual threat anymore and is just a puppet of Thales. In the route where he doesn't ever actually directly confront her at any point. Clyde is almost a typical case of how Claude would be written in, like, an Edel///claude fic or something like that.

Man am I so glad for those leaks because if I had gone into GW completely blind like I intended to then OOF I would’ve been incomprehensibly pissed. Not just at the OOC writing, but, just, everything about it, once the second part hit - KNOWING about what happens with Faerghus and Sreng didn’t make actually sitting through it any more bearable, just because Clyde and the GD in general were such massive fucking penises to the people they were LITERALLY INVADING AND KILLING THE PEOPLE OF, so diving in without the heads up might’ve made me spontaneously combust. Without even going into how utterly against Claude’s character it is to do that in the first place, or the not-lowkey racist aspects of how certain things were handled, GW is such a sludge to play through if you’re paying even an iota of attention to the story.

I can definitely get the frustration in getting kinda the tug-of-war treatment from the fandom lmao, where Claude isn't so much Claude than he is "like Dimitri" or "like Edelgard" in this-or-that way. Now, I certainly understand - and partake in - the occasional comparison, just because there are some ways Claude is akin to/different from Dimitri and Edelgard that are genuinely interesting to me. But, like, to use your phrasing as an example: there's like, literally 0 people who ever say "if you like Dimitri in this way you like Claude." The other two aren't ever used as, like, a barometer or some shit to gauge whether you like Claude, while that is in fact how Claude ends up being used in the fandom a good bit of the time. Cuz apparently you can't, just, like, be a Claude fan or anything lmao.

In general Hopes made it... not the most fun to be a Claude fan :/ Glad I could give ya a place to vent because I know that there’s a lot to vent about lol

If you did the newest archon quest and go to the fortune teller in sumeru, and ask for the love prospect. She tells you how so many people have fallen for the traveller and it kinda drives her mental. I'm kinda sick of mihoyo catering to the traveller harem agenda. Because side relationships have so much potential. Mihoyo has such a habit of erasing playable characters from other characters stories. Such as venti in xiaos. They keep detouring and making it all about traveller. It's just a bit of an ick to me, especially considering I'm somebody who believes that they are Canon in the sense that they know eachother, and they r just dancing around right now figuring things out.

I'm really hoping their meeting does them justice. And mihoyo doesn't yet again make it all about traveller. Like the scene xiao dances In the field of flowers could super easily be made all about aether and xiao with venti on the side.

FR so tired of characters getting erased from each other's stories and suddenly the traveler is the most important person to them like stop!!! this is some stranger that 90% of them have only met a few times for Not Very Long! how the hell can they suddenly be more important than their literal savior, their most trusted right hand they've been working with for years, their family, or the estranged friends trying their hardest to help the person they love? this isnt even just about xiao, it's about literally everyone the traveler comes across--kokomi? ayaka? ei? these characters who should be strong individuals with trusted friends and family who are leading rebellions and an entire nation respectively? suddenly they're all over the traveler and the traveler is the most important person and makes them feel so much better yada yada i got so tired during kokomi's quest bc like..........why. i get that traveler is the person she doesn't have to be the Rebellion Leader in front of bc they dont rely on her but like....that could've easily been a more compelling storyline if she was able to learn to let her walls down around someone like gorou or smthn and he was able to see her as more than just their unflappable leader. not even as a ship, just as two people relying on each other during hardship

ugh this turned into a rant but yeah like. i would much prefer to see playable charas as individuals with compelling lives and relationships outside the traveler. its such a disservice to them to make their lives and stories revolve around the traveler and im sure that's not what the traveler wants either
