Part 1

Summary: You cant stop thinking about JJ after spending time with him at the kegger, so you decide to seek him out.

Word count: 1.8k

Warnings: swearing, slight smut (if you squint), i think thats it?

A/N: i am not happy with this at all but im super tired and just wanted to post it so sorry in advance for the shitty writing - it also took longer than i wanted cos i didnt know where to go with the story so that was fun. Anyway i hope you like it (and feedback is always appreciated 🥺)

You never thought that your mind would be occupied with JJ Maybank’s face as much as it had in the last week since the kegger you spent with him. To be honest it made you feel a little pathetic - it was one kiss and you were almost certain he wasn’t thinking about you as he literally is known for hooking up with girls and then not speaking to them.

The more you thought about him the angrier you got with yourself and your changing moods were becoming more and more obvious to your best friend Lily.

“What’s wrong with you?” She asked from where she was lying on your bed.

“Nothing, why?”

“Oh I don’t know, maybe it’s that you look like you’re about to rip that top you’re holding in half, you keep sighing and let’s not forget I can tell when you’re lying.” She smirked at you, knowing you had to tell her now.

“Fine,” You sighed, sitting on the bed next to her, “Remember the kegger we were at last week and how I spent it with that JJ guy?”

“Yeah?”

“Well I kinda want to see him again and I’m not sure if I’m being stupid because it was the first guy I ever really spent time with after Rafe and he’s hot but I don’t know, I feel stupid because he’s probably not given me a second thought.”

Lily grabbed your hand, “Babes, I love you but you’re a mess - you don’t know if he’s thought about you if you don’t ask, so stop torturing yourself.”

You nodded your understanding, “And so I think after our lunch today you should go and find him to ask then you’ll know .”

“I might.”

“No, you will, I’m gonna make you.” Lily laughed, jabbing your side with her finger.

Even if it was the most kooky thing to do, you and Lily often spent your time at the country club, either to eat or play golf with your dads, especially on a nice warm day like today.

The two of you had been there for around an hour just chatting constantly when a busboy came to clear up the table. You looked up to thank him but froze when you saw the face of JJ Maybank.

“JJ! Hi.”

He didn’t even acknowledge you, instead just finished picking up your glasses and left.

You turned to Lily, “Wow he really doesn’t give a shit about our fun evening then.”

She scowled at the back of him as he walked into the building, “What a dick.”

“Should I go and talk to him? Or is that a bad idea?”

“Yes you should, otherwise I’m going to talk to him and then possibly murder him as he’s hurting my best friend.”

You smiled as you rolled your eyes at her, “Please don’t.”

She stuck her tongue out at you as you stood up and followed JJ back into the building, hoping it wasn’t too upfront and that he would at least talk to you this time.

You saw him coming out the kitchen and shouted him over, he had a slight bit of annoyance written on his face but other than that nothing you could decipher.

“What do you want Y/N?” He asked, putting his hands in his pockets.

“Oh so you do know who I am,” you scoffed, “Why are you giving me such a cold shoulder? I thought we had fun.”

You were already regretting coming to talk to him, you were never this upfront or seemingly over-involved after spending a small amount of time with a guy, so it made you very uncomfortable.

“Yeah we had fun, but you’re a kook and I’m a pogue and as you said on the night we were just pretending, so what more is there?”

He began to turn to walk away when you reached out for his arm, “We might have been pretending but this week I’ve been wanting to see you again because I thought there could be something. Maybe I was wrong though.”

This time it was his turn to grab your arm as you turned away, and before you had time to speak, his lips were on yours. The kiss was nothing like you’d ever experienced, you could feel yourself melting into his arms, losing yourself in the kiss - he tasted like the sea and it was something you wanted to taste forever.

You broke apart, both smiling like idiots as you looked at each other, “That was-“ you began to say.

“A reason I shouldn’t have been such an asshole, I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine, and I wouldn’t mind making this a more common thing by the way.” You smiled at him.

“Well I’m on my break now so…” he offered his hand to you.

You giggled as you took it and he dragged you towards a more secluded corridor, pushing you against the wall and put his lips on yours, his hands on your hips as he deepened the kiss. You never wanted it to end - but you didn’t always get what you wanted.

“Huh so you weren’t annoyed at him for long then?” Lily joked from where she stood at the end of the corridor, arms folded as she took in the two of you.

You gave her the finger, not noticing the look on JJ’s face as he quickly moved away from you, putting his hands back in his pockets.

You gave him a questioning look, confused as to why he seemed nervous all of a sudden.

“It’s nearing the end of my break, I should, um probably go.” He pointed in the other direction and moved to head off.

You quickly pecked his lips, muttering to him “When are you free?”

“For you, anytime.”

You laughed, “you can always come to my house later, it’s easy to find.”

He grinned at you, “Will do princess.”

He had already turned away, luckily as he wasn’t able to see the blush that had spread across your cheeks at him calling you princess.

You couldn’t stop smiling, Lily raising her eyebrows at you as you walked towards her, “Damn girl I haven’t seen you like this in forever.”

“I haven’t felt like this in forever.” You admitted, the butterflies in your stomach still going crazy.

Sat at home that evening, you kept looking towards the door, hoping JJ would come round. Your parents weren’t home and you were an only child so there was no need to worry about any one bothering you.

There was a knock at the door, you quickly stood up and before opening it you checked yourself out in the mirror in the hall, you nodded to yourself and moved the handle. You were met with the shy smile of the blond boy, hands in his pockets like normal as he took in the size of your house.

“I’m surprised I haven’t mowed your lawn with a house this big.” He joked but you could tell it kind of bothered him, not that you knew what to say.

“Um, come in,” you stepped back allowing him to walk through the door then headed to the kitchen with him following you, “do you want a drink or something?”

“Nah I’m good thanks,” raising his eyebrows at the large glass of wine your poured yourself.

You sat in a comfortable silence just looking at each other, unsure of what to say.

“So,” he started, “do you surf?”

He did taste of the sea so you weren’t surprised this was one of the first things he asked about.

“I used to when I was younger but then my parents decided I needed ‘other, better hobbies’, so not really, but I do miss it.”

“When you’re free I’ll happily teach you how to again.”

You smiled at him, “holy shit I’d love that! I’ll probably make a complete fool of myself but at least it’d provide you with some entertainment.”

“And I’ll get to see you in a bikini.” He smirked

“Oh I look really good you’ll definitely like it.” You flirted back.

You chatted back and forth for hours, and at some point you two had moved to the living room where you were now sitting on his lap, slowly kissing each other, enjoying every second of it.

You were interrupted by a knock at the door, “What the fuck?” You say as you remove yourself from JJ’s embrace and go to see who it is - you were met with the last face you wanted to see, Rafe Cameron.

You held out your hand before he had the chance to speak, “Nope, fuck off Rafe I don’t want to talk to you.”

“Please Y/N I want to apologise.” He pleaded.

“I couldn’t give two shits about an apology because I don’t. care. about. you. That’s why we broke up and why I don’t want to have this conversation.”

You went to shut the door, only to be stopped by his foot.

“I still love you Y/N and no matter what you say I know you love me.”

In the corner of your eye you could see JJ stand up to come and see if you needed help, you shook your head to indicate him to stop - it would only make things worse if Rafe knew JJ was there.

“No I loved you Rafe. Past tense. You made me miserable and I still loved you for so long, but not anymore, so please go.”

He stepped back, “I will get you back Y/N.”

Slamming the door on his face you muttered, “Sure you will.”

You leant against the door for a second, even talking to him for a few minutes completely drained you, how did you date him for so long?

“Hey, you good?” JJ asked from where he leant against the doorframe of the living room.

You walked over to him, wrapping your arms around his waist, “Yeah I am now.”

Removing yourself from the hug, you patted his chest, “Right that’s enough of the heavy stuff, what do you want to do?”

He smirked at you as he pressed his lips against yours, instantly wiping the thoughts about Rafe out of your mind. He lifted you up so your legs could wrap around him, your hands behind his head as he led you back towards the sofa.

You were sat on his lap and as he moved his lips over your neck you moaned, wanting him to do more.

You blushed, “thank you, you’re not too bad yourself.”

He chuckled and moved to take off your shirt - you raised your arms to make it easier before moving back in to kiss him.

It ended being one of the best nights of your life, you were so glad you pretended to be with him that night at the kegger.

COMIC TEA PARTY- THURSDAY BOOK CLUB START!

Good evening, everyone~! Our final Thursday Book Club is officially beginning! Today we are discussing Maiden of the Machine by Caitlin Like~! (https://maidenmachine.com/)

Remember that Thursday discussions are completely freeform! However, every 30 minutes I will drop in OPTIONAL discussion questions in case you’d like a bit of a prompt. If you miss out on one of these prompts, you can find them pinned for the chat’s duration. Additionally, remember that while constructive criticism is allowed, our focus is fun and respectfully appreciating the comic. All that said, let’s begin!

QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?

i think my favorite scene so far is when elizabeth and victor decide to sleep together. part in for its serious drama. theres so many questions about victor created from just the visuals, and then theres the stakes at hand of elizabeth's reputation. but then, there is also a good balance of comic relief to a degree since victor told her to ask no questions and she asks the one question that he probably didnt see coming. all around it was a pretty satisfactor culmination of their relationship so far at a juncture that felt natural.

another scene i really enjoyed was the ball scene where victor and eric are having a chat about elizabeth and then elizabeth and victor have a passionate liason. im mostly a fan cause of the dramatic convo. cause theres a deep and terrible sense that both characters truly know what their risking, what the situation is, and how they still are into each other. plus, its all very tense cause it just takes one person being in the wrong place at the wrong time to blow their cover.

honestly i think itd be accurate to say all my favorite scenes are with elizabeth and victor. romance is one of those genres i can struggle with, because theres always something missing. but oh man do i love the romance in this comic. there is nothing more i want than to see then elizabeth and victor finding a way to be together in spite society trying to kick that down at every turn.

i will give a special shout out to the scene where eric, abhaya, milo, and the cousin are meeting to discuss the affairs of the estate. i just like it because it basically shows all the characters' worst sides. abhaya is brash and reckless, milo is just kind of there, and eric is a greedy mofo. and whats worse is literally none of them thought to bring elizabeth. they may have their excuses of protecting her...but part of me still thinks thats a super dick move and shows even abhaya just kind of views elizabeth more as a pawn than a person. but all in all, nothing like money and estates to show off everyone's worst traits. it is very true to life, and i can respect that.

another non-victor/elizabeth scene i respect is the scene where elizabeth is out dress shopping and eric is like here i got you these dresses. just cause i knew eric was kind of a creep, but ho boy, he dialed the creep up to number 11 on a 10 meter scale. but at the same time, i think that really helped to erase all sympathy i might have had for him. thus paving the way for me to not really feel guilty on elizabeth's behalf for her trespasses against him.

i also like scenes with west in them. cause I like that between all the people around Victor, West seems the most honest in a scoundrel sort of way. Which that is basically what I like about him in every scene. He causes trouble and pushes the limits, but at the same time hes always at least pretty upfront about his intentions.

thats unfortunate cause its a great comic, but glad to see you anyway math!

Which kind of sucks, I like the whole concept of the kick ass ladies. Even the pirates.

Maybe I'll find time to read more in the background.

The bit I liked most of what I read I think was back in the first chapter, when Elizabeth makes the callback to when she got out of the ropes at the very start of the story. It was a nice subtle detail which I found very clever.

I'm not at your bits yet but I can see how the Elizabeth/Victor thing is being set up. Also there seems to be some question of whether Abhaya likes him... or possibly other ladies? I may be reading my own interests into that.

Also, yeah, the whole estate thing creates an interesting dynamic. That was a clever way of using the period to generate conflicts.

QUESTION 2. A large focus of the comic is on Elizabeth and Victor’s relationship. At the end of the day, do you think the two will find a way to be together? If so, how will they get over the scandal Elizabeth would face and the fact those around Victor want him to marry a titled woman? If you don’t believe they’ll find a way to stay together, what will stop them? Further, given the most recent events, how will Eric Wollstonecraft play a role in the future of their love story? How does the narration framing seen where Elizabeth is addressing her potential son affect your opinion? How do you think that future came about, and how soon will it come to pass? Last, what do you think of their relationship in terms of Elizabeth wanting to make her own choices in life?

yeah i have to say if theres one thing i appreciate its combination of progressive themes while at the same time acknowledging that the period was not the friendliest towards these things

especially in regards to how elizabeth is treated since her only purpose apparently to everyone is to get hitched to a titled guy

and i mean

thats depressing

yet also true to the period

even though we get to see elizabeth take a journey and reject those social conventions

in regards to the current question, i am choosing not to think about whether in the long term elizabeth and victor will get together for the rest of their lives. because if they dont i will cry but i could see this realistically being the case given the tone of the narration. cause that...does not sound like an elizabeth who lives in eternal happiness.

Back, sorry. Yeah, I'm usually not much of one for period pieces, but I like the narrative viewpoint. Also, pretty neat airships.

There was the point where she talked about leaving Victor behind back in Chapter 1 (I don't recall the exact circumstances) but I wondered if it was because he causes her heartache, or just because it make their lives more complicated.

Incidentally, the first thing I thought of with the name "Lovelace" was Lady Ada Lovelace. The mathematician. Not sure if that was an intentional reference to another well regarded woman.

i love period pieces but i think the steampunk aspects help twist it enough to make it a bit more unique.

i would not be surprised if the name choice was purposeful. if only because the comic has lots of strong ladies. i doubt well see any real historical figures though.

i appreciate that the comic actually kind of starts off with the airship escapade

That's a good point. Helps with the world building before we get down into some of the classic period issues.

yes. and i also kind of like it starts off more action-y. not that there isnt action bits later mind you. but more i think it helps set up the main conflict while tying in the romance. because it makes it so the romance isnt some forced subplot. rather its kind of integral and has as much to do with the whole highjacking as the rest of the story. since later on youll see that elizabeth's proximity to victor keeps bring that part of the story into the limelight

That's a good point, in terms of tying things together. Also possibly sets up a key antagonist (or at least revenge plot) in that burned pirate lady.

Well, yes. But Elizabeth also seems to be taking risks where Victor is concerned. Or at least stepping out of her comfort zone.

Certain people have certain effects on us I guess.

nah thats true. I just think Elizabeth just takes more social risks. Like not the kind that are gonna get her arrested, but more the kind that are gonna get her socially shunned.

whereas Abhaya is the punch one who is gonna get charged with assault

That seems like a valid viewpoint. It fits with their personalities when we saw them in their youth.

The cutting back and forth between the two sisters in Chapter 3 is well done.

yeah in general i like the PoV switching of the comic. because every scene is pretty well-chosen and advances the plot in some manner. and it lets us see others parts of the comic developing. cause later on you do get to see more of victor without elizabeth some and get to go "hmm" to all that hes up to.

Ha! I like Chapter 3, page 31, where all the dialogue seems to fade out as Victor touches her. Cute.

QUESTION 3. Besides romance, there is a larger plot posing real and deadly danger to the characters. Who do you think the Angel is? What are the Angel’s goals, and why is she excessively targeting Victor? Further, what do you think the source of her power is? Also, what does have kidnapping people like Ambrose have to do with her goals? Alternatively, is Ambrose there of his own free will (and if so, why)? Considering Abhaya is being sought by Amabel for help, what do you think Abhaya will do? Will Abhaya be able to uncover more of the truth, or is Abhaya just going to get herself into more trouble? How will Abhaya’s involvement affect Elizabeth and herself? Last, can Amabel be trusted, or is it possible she’ll abandon Abhaya when Abhaya might need her?

Related to those questions, I do wonder a bit if Victor has a sordid past or something. Like maybe his empire wasn't entirely built on the up-and-up... with his knowledge or possibly without it. So there could be a reason there for him to be targeted.

I've looked on the character page and I approve this ship.

oh yeah. Victor is 100% definitely a scoundrel. There is one scenes that really hints at this, but even before that i agree with you. Victor is not on the up and up entirely. I don't think he made his fortune without cracking a few skulls.

but more in the way hes done the forbidden when it comes to tech

Was he totally aware of the repercussions of whatever he did though? Because the people around him seem to like to keep him in the dark.

im sure he knew the repercussions. the people around him are more about keeping him in the dark about romantic matters. cause as was implied by one of the questions later on you find out the main thing ppl arent telling victor is that elizabeth is just there to open him up to the idea of marriage so he can marry a titled lady

cause everyone is all about those titles

In regards to the current question while you're away, I think Abhaya will help Amabel and get herself caught and get into a whole mess of trouble that for once, Elizabeth will have to break her out of. But I think it'll be a dual sword cause I do think Elizabeth's relationship to both Abhaya and Victor is gonna put her in the crosshairs. cause like, what an easy way to get Victor to show up. Get Elizabeth, tell Victor you'll never see her again if you don't show up.

as for the angel's goals, I feel shes on a path of vengence against the entire world, but particularly victor cause hes high up there in the industrialist chain

and knows something she doesnt and that she needs to bring her plans to fruition

Sounds like you think it's not personal, the Angel's path, merely that Victor is a convenient figurehead.

it could be personal, but i feel like the angel just has bigger fish to fry

QUESTION 4. Mixed in with the present drama is a lot of unsolved past drama. Who do you think Victor really is? What do you think happened to Victor based on Milo’s story that he was telling Abhaya? How do you think Victor managed to overcome this to become the person he is today? Also, what do you make of the room Victor seemed to have sealed off in his house? Besides Victor, there is also a lot of drama between Jules, Abhaya, and Milo. What do you think happened between the three of them that managed to damage their relationship forever? Will spending more time together heal their wounds, or is it impossible at this point? Further, what was Jules up to the whole time he was away with Victor? Last, what do you think Jules’ goals were for introducing Elizabeth and Victor, and why does he seem immensely conflicted about her presence?

I think Victor was some fellow servant kid who was Jules' only friend after Jules got sent away. And then Victor almost died. Although I'm changing my previous speculations. Maybe the Angel is more literal and she literally showed up, saved Victor with tech with the promise to return, and then left. So now shes back for her comeuppance. Meanwhile, Victor decided technology was great and he needed to bring it to the world cause it was what would keep him alive and save others.

as for the three, at this juncture it seems pretty heavily implied Milo and Jules were in a relationship and that Milo called off the wedding to Abhaya cause he didnt want to live a lie in regards to how he felt about Jules. Regardless of the what, while Milo i feel will legitimately forgive and forget, I dont feel Abhaya or Jules will. Abhaya cause she doesnt seem the type to ever forgive ever. And to just hold onto her hatred and seethe. Jules in the meantime I think wont forgive until he gets revenge in some way. Cause the two probably betrayed his trust big time and he kind of got the most screwed over by what happened

i think Jules wanted them to meet for the exact reason that the others implied: they want Victor to warm up to the idea of women so he can get married. However, I feel Jules now feels like a jerk who is taking out his anger at Abhaya on Elizabeth who had 0% to do with what happened between the three. and yet he knows hes in too deep to turn back now.

Could be that Victor was initially poor... in fact maybe he married into the company somehow? Could the Angel be his wife? o.o

I wondered about Milo and Jules. My initial thought had been that Abhaya had called off the engagement though, so that's an interesting other look at things.

Jules and Elizabeth were close too, back in the day. One wonders if he's that good at seeing how things play out long term.

nah its definitely his company. but victor was probably poor. if only cause everyone calls him new money. so it means he has no predecessor parent who made their fortune.

Jules strikes me more as the type who things hes great at planning but really, really, really isnt

and then tons of consequences come about that he has to accept and deal with

That makes sense and could explain the sympathy for West too, maybe he knows West even though it doesn't necessarily go both ways.

Yeah, Jules seems to think he's got everything well in hand but he doesn't seem to account for the human factor.

Made it to the end of Chapter 4/Act 1 now. Apparently the Angel kidnaps people to literally graft wings onto her spine. Ouch.

Interesting callback to Victor's wounded leg though.

i think even more than the human factor, Jules is just bad at making plan Bs for when things do go wrong. then panics and makes bad decisions

Maybe that thing that Victor has in the factory is a time machine. Turns out he's actually from the future, he brought back all the technology and that's why the Angel is after him, she thinks it's stolen.

I guess we're near the end... haven't said anything about the art yet. I suppose I like the shading, and I thought the sound effect use was clever.

i really love the clothes. i mean theyre simple, and yet all seem to fit within the period that this comic is trying to go for

but if they get a roomba what are the house wives supposed to do

not sit at home cooking and cleaning all day?

also about the art, i really love the steampunk designs. you can definitely tell the steampunk inspiration in them, yet theyre really unique and not really like any steampunk ive seen before

Being Home with Zach [Hope x Zach]

[Hope]

Hope followed Zach inside of the house and took in his presence next to her. She couldn’t stop herself from turning him around to her and kissing him passionately. “I missed you so much.” She said against his lips as she pressed up against him.

[Zach]

Zach could feel her turning him around and pressing him against the wall. “I missed you so much too.” He kisses her back before picking her up and carrying her to their room and placing her on the bed as he continued to kiss her.

[Hope]

She kissed Zach with all of her heart before resting at his clothes as her tongue ran over his bottom lip and his piercing. “I won’t let anyone hurt you again like that. Ever.”

[Zach]

Hearing her words he could only smile at her as he kissed her back. “I won’t let anyone hurt you like that ever again either. I promise.” He responds before deepening the kiss.

[Hope]

“I know you won’t.” She smiled before feeling him deepening the kiss. Her eyes blazed red as she released pheromones into the air. “Zach...it’s been too long. My body, I need you. Fuck I need you so badly.”

[Zach]

Zach could smell her pheromones and it turned his on as well. His eyes turned red as he pulled her closer to him and just ripped her clothes off. He removed his as well before reconnecting his lips hungrily with hers. The male then lets just the tip tease the other before he pushed himself into her fully making sure that she could feel all of him.

[Hope]

Hope claws left her nails and she flipped them over as her alpha said was taking over. She dug her nails into his skin as she started riding him. She growled as she kissed with him intense passion.

[Zach]

The male let out a moan as he felt her nails digging into his skin when she started to ride him. He kissed her cheek back with just as much passion as he made sure that he constantly hit her sweet spot with each bounce of her hips.

[Hope]

Hope moaned as he hit her sweet spot over and over as she grinded against him and left her scent all over him. Her hand wrapped around his neck squeezing lightly as her eyes flashed black. “You will never touch another girl like that or I swear I will kill her. You are mine Zach. Don’t ever forget that.”

[Zach]

Seeing her eyes flashing black and hearing her words, he nodded his head. “I won’t ever touch another girl like that. I am all yours.” He purrs.

[Hope]

She smirked as she tightened the hold on his neck, “I don’t think I heard you Zach. Who do you belong to?” She asked as her hips moved faster.

[Zach]

“Fuck, I belong to you. Only you.” He moaned when she moved her hips faster against him. Zach could feel himself getting really close as well

[Hope]

“You want to cum for me? Fill me up with all your cum Zach. I know you want to.” She purred.

[Zach]

The male could feel her digging her nails into his neck and his eyes turned red. He had been trained in breathing under different pressures so when she had her hand against his neck it didn’t phase him.

“Shit sorry.” She said removing her nails and seeing the blood rushing out of his neck. “Fuck sorry I didn’t mean to do that. Sorry.” She said moving to grab something to clean up the mess.

[Zach]

Zach remained calm since there wasn’t that much blood and she didn’t hit a major artery or vein either. “You are okay. It didn’t hurt, don’t worry.” He reassures her as he applied pressure to keep it from bleeding too much.

[Hope]

“You are bleeding, so yeah it hurt.” Hope dismissed his words as she grabbed the first aid kit. “I don’t know what got into me, I really am sorry.”

[Zach]

“It’s okay Hope, really it is. I have made it through much worse than a few marks on my neck.” He tries to reassure her.

[Hope]

“Stop saying that.” She snapped cleaning his blood before bandaging the wound and standing up. “I fucking hate when you say that.”

[Zach]

“What? You hate when I say what? I know it was an accident Hope. I know it wasn’t on purpose. I am not going to hold it over your head you know. It will heal.” He explains when he hears her snap at him.

[Hope]

“God Zach you aren’t fucking invincible. You are a human. You can die way easier than I can you act like that doesn’t fucking matter. We have a family and if you die that’s it for me Zach. So stop saying shit doesn’t hurt when it does.”

[Zach]

“I am not saying I am invincible. I have been trained Hope. I have been trained to handle pain in a different way than what you are used to. I am not going to die Hope, not when I have you and the kids to live for so just trust me okay?”

[Hope]

“You would be dead. If Grace didn’t help you, you would be. So really...your word...I don’t trust it.” She said sighing as she ran her hands through her hair. “I need to shower.”

[Zach]

“I would have found another way out. I wouldn’t have given up. I would have kept fighting for you.” He responds before letting out a sigh of his own at her words. “Did you want me to join you or..”

[Hope]

“So you are telling me you wouldn’t have fingered her? Great to know.” She nodded. “Sure whatever.”

[Zach]

“I am not saying I would have found another way out I am saying I would never give up trying to find one.”

[Hope]

“I know what you are trying to say. It’s fine...I guess I know how my mom feels. She was always telling my dad that he wasn’t invincible and I didn’t understand you know, because he was...to me I never thought he could get hurt. And I’m sure Emmett looks at you the same way but I love you in a way Emmett doesn’t and I know you aren’t trying to get yourself killed but...I’m a hybrid. The first child...do you think I’m invincible? Do you think I can’t get hurt? Would you be okay if you or someone else hurt me and I said I’m fine? If that guy kept beating me...would you have looked the other way because I don’t feel pain?”

[Zach]

“No, no one is invincible but what use would it be telling you that I got beaten within an inch of my life? That would only make you worry and I don’t want you to have to worry about me. You were already going through a lot and I didn’t want to add to that stress.” He explains.

[Hope]

Hope moved to grab a folded piece of paper out of her pocket and handed it to Zach. “I was going to leave you Zach. I only needed to sign that paper and if my dad hadn’t shown me what you went through, if he hadn’t told me you got beat within a inch of your life, I would have. If you don’t want me to worry about you then sign that. Cause that will stop me.”

[Zach]

“I don’t mind you worrying about me Hope but after the stress that was already put on you and the baby I didn’t want to add to that. And if I do recall correctly, I asked you if you wanted to see what happened and you told me you wouldn’t be able to handle it and that you didn’t want to because you thought I was all over Grace. I wasn’t going to fight you on that Hope. I was going to give you time to wait until things were stable before offering to show you again.”

[Hope]

“Am I supposed to thank you for that? You giving me time had me almost leave you. Emmett stresses me out, my family does all the time, do you think I would be okay with them letting me believe something that wasn’t true? It doesn’t even matter. This is dumb.” She said shaking her head and heading to the bathroom.

[Zach]

“Letting you believe something that wasn’t true? I was trying to convince you Hope and you didn’t listen to me. You didn’t want to listen to me. What? You want me to forcefully bite you and make you see what happened? I respect you more than that. If you don’t want to see something that is your decision and I chose to respect that until you were ready to see or hear what I had to say. That is all.” He explains before running his fingers through his hair in frustration.

[Hope]

“And what part of I never was going to did you not understand? I was going to leave you Zach. That is what would have happened because you decided to wait. You act like this whole relationship we haven’t done something the other person doesn’t like. Yeah I would have been pissed you bit me but at least you would have saved me some heartache. But you seem pretty glad with the way things turned out so I’m happy for you.”

[Zach]

“Well I didn’t know you were going to leave me because you ran off and I had no idea where you went. You had your phone off so even if i wanted to contact you I couldn’t. I will keep that in mind next time you don’t want to listen to what I have to say then. No, I am not happy that you have that paper with you because that means you lost faith in me and our marriage. If you were really that upset you should have talked to me or tried to listen to what I had to say but instead you chose not to. That was your decision Hope and you don’t want me to be so controlling of you and let you do your own thing. I am not going to force you to be with me if I make you unhappy.”

[Hope]

“I left my phone here so it wasn’t like I went out of my way to ignore you. I forgot it while I was packing and please spare me by saying you didn’t know where I was. I didn’t even want to know but I knew where you are because you and I are shifters so you chose to give me space. Of course I lost faith in you. Was I supposed to not have? I didn’t know the truth so I was allowed to think what I wanted. I did talk to you Zach. I stayed in the house afterwards because I knew that’s what you needed. But if all that could have been solved by you just biting me regardless of anything then yeah I lost faith in you. When I took away your love for me and I came to give it back to you, you certainly didn’t want it but I didn’t give a fuck. Maybe you just sign the paper.”

[Zach]

“I was giving you space because I know you like your space if you didn’t want me to give me space then you should have told me that. You tell me a lot about being honest and upfront yet you aren’t doing that. This is a two way street you know. I can only do so much Hope. I was tired and in pain and honestly I am still in pain due to some of the injuries being a lot slower to heal than others. I don’t have the energy to fight you on this anymore because lately I have been feeling more fatigued than I should be. I love you with all my heart Hope and you know this so please stop acting like I don’t care because I do. You can feel I do even if I can’t outrightly show it.” He explains before feeling a pain in his side as he notices some of the stitches had come loose and he was starting to bleed.

[Hope]

Hope could smell the blood before she saw it and didn’t even comment on it knowing the stupid response Zach would give. She grabbed her phone and called the royal doctor before hanging up. “The doctor is coming. He can give you something for your pain...oh I mean whatever you are feeling since you don’t feel pain.” She said before grabbing one of her throw on dresses and sliding it on just to have something to wear. She cleaned up the room before hearing the doorbell ring and heading downstairs to get it.

[Zach]

“I am not saying I don't feel pain. I am just used to hiding how I feel it is how I was trained I explained this to you. Your pain meter is different than mine. Certain pains I am used to, others not so much.” He responds.

[Hope]

The alpha just rolled her eyes before getting the doctor. She led him upstairs and explained what happened to the doctor before hearing him explain the medicine Zach would have to take and then he started working on the dragon. She took a few steps back to give the two some privacy. She sat on the couch in the bedroom and looked at the two of them.

[Zach]

Zach laid down on the bed and got himself comfortable before the doctor started to work on his side. For whatever reason, it was stinging really bad and he was trying his best to conceal his emotions but his eyes were flashing different colors in distress. His body was starting to heat up as he tried to suppress it all.

[Hope]

Hope could feel something was wrong and while she knew most people knew Zach was a dragon she got up and moved to sit on the bed with him and took his hand to calm him down. She looked at him and gave him a small smile as she squeezed his hand.

[Zach]

Zach’s body started to calm down when Hope took his hand. He couldn’t help but to squeeze it back as his eyes started to return back to normal and his body started to cool down.

[Hope]

She tried to think of something to distract Zach from what was happening and she smiled as she said, “I had a doctors appointment to check on everything and you will be happy to know the doctor confirmed we are in fact having a little girl. So all that protectiveness you have in you you should be prepared to use it.” She teased.

[Zach]

“We are having a little girl?” He asks as his eyes light up and a smile appears on his face. “That means Emmett will have a little sister to spoil. First thing she will learn is how to defend herself from boys.” The male insists with a small smile.

[Hope]

“That is a horrible first lesson.” She laughed shaking her head at him. “The first thing she will learn is that her father is a very special shifter. And that her mother loves him very much. Even if she argues with him a lot.” She teased him.

[Zach]

“Yes, okay she can learn that first then she needs to learn how to defend herself because she will be a special shifter too. Our own little mini dragon..maybe.” He smiles as the doctor finished up and put the medicine on the wound before bandaging it up.

[Hope]

“Will you leave our daughter alone? If I remember correctly my dad never punished you for half of the things you did and we did...you know at the table.” She said before moving to grab her wallet as she thanked the doctor. Since Zach wasn’t royal they were charged but Hope didn’t mind as she saw the doctor out.

[Zach]

“That is true but still, you were old enough to make your own decisions. Our daughter will have the option to do that too.” He teases before thanking the doctor as well before they left.

[Hope]

Hope came back upstairs and sat on the couch before bringing her knees up to her chest as she leaned back against the cushions.

[Zach]

Zach had been waiting for Hope to return to the room but when she didn't, he got up wincing slightly at the pain before going to find her. “Are you okay?”

[Hope]

She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Zach’s voice and moved to help him sit down as she nodded. “Yeah I’m fine, sorry I was just thinking.”

[Zach]

“Thinking about what?” He asks before thanking her as she helped him sit down.

[Hope]

“Nothing it doesn’t matter anymore.” She replied sitting next to him.

[Zach]

Zach let out a sigh, “You know it is hard to try to talk things out if you don’t want to talk about them you know.” He explains with a small laugh before putting his arm around her. “What is bothering you?”

[Hope]

“Really it’s nothing Zach. It’s not about you or our fight. I am honestly so tired of fighting with you. It’s like Grace is winning every time we do. I love you Zach and I don’t know if we can move past all that happened but I am willing to try.”

[Zach]

“I love you too Hope. As long as you are willing to try that is all that I can ask for you know.” He responds before kissing her cheek.

[Hope]

Hope smiled and nodded, “But anyway, it seems my tough dragon is really injured so you know what that means right?”

[Zach]

“What does that mean?” He asks not knowing what she means.

[Hope]

“No more working, staying home, and no more sex until that heals.” She smiled looking at him. “So technically you should just stay in the guest room so you aren’t tempted.” She teased him.

[Zach]

“I thought since we made up I wouldn’t have to stay in the guest bedroom? Plus I should be in our bedroom just in case someone else tries to come after you because you know safety reasons.” He teases lightly.

[Hope]

“Oh sweetie you can’t protect me with those stitches so sadly you will be stuck in another room. It’s only until you heal.” She responded kissing him softly. “You will be fine.”

[Zach]

Zach only huffed unhappily as he pouted. “I can still try you know.” He grumbled.

[Hope]

“Oh no, nope. You could get hurt and we don’t want that.” Hope smiled having a little too much fun with this. “No sex, no cuddling, no kissing.”

[Zach]

Hearing her words, he just frowned. “You are kidding right? I will be better soon. It won’t take that long to heal…” He explains.

[Hope]

“Nope, I want you to get better baby.” She said looking at him. “So you are just going to have to focus on getting better so we can have fun again.”

[Zach]

“But I have obligations to my wife so...I think that comes first don’t you?” He asks.

[Hope]

“I have toys I should be fine.” She shrugged.

[Zach]

“We both know that those toys can’t satisfy you the way my cock can.” He smirked before kissing her neck.

[Hope]

“Hm it will just have to do until you get better.” She smirked back pulling away from him. “You need to focus on you. So no sex Zach. I’m serious.” Hope said.

[Zach]

The male just pouts and grumbles to himself. “But you have been gone for so long and I want you.” He whimpered.

[Hope]

“Aw you want me baby? How badly do you want me?” She asked looking at him.

[Zach]

“I want you so bad.” He moaned while kissing down her neck as he pulled her closer to him.

[Hope]

“Yeah...okay.” Hope said standing up. “No Zach, you will be fine. You can want me so bad when you feel better.”

[Zach]

Zach pouts before pulling her back down on his lap. “I feel fine now. The medicine probably kicked in.” He reassures her as he kisses down her neck and leaves marks as he bucks his hips up against her.

[Hope]

Hope felt him pulling her down to his lap and bit her lip to stop from moaning as she shook her head, “Zach stop, you just got your stitches in you need to take it easy.” She said pushing him back against the couch. “I’m not going anywhere, you can have me as much as you want when you feel better. When you really feel better.”

[Zach]

The dragon huffed as he was pushed back onto the couch. “But I am in pain and that means that you need to help me get better. What if it cures me? You never know unless you try.” Zach insists.

[Hope]

“How is sex supposed to make you feel better? When I could help you get into bed, make you some soup, and put a movie on for you. I think that would be better and then when you feel better you can come back into our room and I will help you.”

[Zach]

“Yeah...that works then. Cuddles, soup and movie sounds good. You will be joining me for that though right?” He asks with a smile as he gets up and follows her to the room.

[Hope]

“No, I will get you situated but then I need to get Emmett and spend some time with him. You aren’t working so we can spend time together later.” She responds taking him to the room.

[Zach]

“Fine, fine, I will take a nap then.” He responds, “But I am holding you to that then.” Zach tells her as they arrive at the room.

[Hope]

Hope moved to the side to let Zach get situated in the room. “I will be making this very hard for you though.” She teased him dropping her dress on the floor. “I’ll see you when I get back baby. I love you.”

[Zach]

Zach bit his lip when he watched her drop her dress on the floor. “Mhm...I am already very hard for you so you don’t have to worry about that.” He responds while palming himself through his pants. “You go and tend to Emmett, I will tend to myself.”

[Hope]

She watched him start to play with himself and smiled, “I can’t wait to have your cock again. We might have to send Emmett to stay with my parents when you get better because we have a lot of making up to do. It’s sucks we can’t do it now.” She pouted before leaving to go change and get Emmett.
