im forever gonna think about how inagaki made senku and gen’s birthdays inverse of each other because like. senku’s bday (1/4) was decided from the moment he was created and it’s an important plot point in how it plays out with the ishigami village. HOWEVER. the date that senku wakes up (4/1) was decided from the beginning and gen coming across the etching in the tree was inevitable, but we don’t know gen’s birthday (4/1) until several arcs after that moment in the observatory. we learn senku woke up on gen’s birthday in a posthumous bonus q&a but i wonder if inagaki decided that before and it influenced gen’s actions leading up to senku’s birthday, or he’s just a sick and twisted individual who wanted to bait people. i think it’s everything at once bc all the characters no matter their role are thoughtfully made. the fact that they’re coincidentally inverse is such a gen thing to overthink but the meaning within the narrative is far more complex and yet so understated. it makes my head spin

senku commits to several ways to gaining people’s trust, mostly inventing things to hopefully sway people in his favor, or oppositely, threaten them to force their hand. he takes a CRAZY gamble on gen. gen reciprocating was equally a crazy gamble but it locks them in forever. i could even argue that it was more important for gen to gain senku's trust.

You might think that Yami Bakura would be good in a fistfight on the basis that he used to be Thief King, and Thief King could definitely kick ass. However I believe that being used to fighting in a body that is completely different than the one you currently occupy is actually a detriment. You're going to keep overestimating how hard you can hit and there's zero muscle memory available where you think it should be, and all your punches are aimed wrong because your old body was three inches shorter. As such I firmly believe he would crumple like a wet paper bag only slightly less easily than his host.
