Funky new OC! I need to throw all the brainrot and story somewhere so here's the backstory and all sorts of info below!
Backstory:
A being as old as life itself. Isaiah wandered the earth without form
nor name. His essence was overflowing with life energy, leaving trails of thriving foliage wherever he went. Eventually, he took on a humanoid form from observing early humans from afar. His ability to grant life to his surroundings translated to healing the sick and injured, which in turn caused the village to worship him. They praised him, granted him a name, and respected him.
But although his abilities granted him the power to heal, they did not grant him the ability to extend human lives beyond their expiration date.
Human lives came and went, slowly taking a toll on his sanity. These people who loved him and whom he loved had such short lives in the presence of his own immortality.
Simultaneously, a conspiracy plagued the town. If their savior could heal all wounds, why could he not grant them immortality? How come he was the only immortal being amongst them? He must be taking the life energy of the elderly for himself.
Human greed and insanity. On a darkest day of his existence, a mob of foolish townsmen ambushed Isaiah and took whatever they could get their hands on.
"A lock of his hair could prolong your life. The longer the better."
"Don't leave anything behind; each fingernail is priceless."
"These eyes will cure all blindness. Make sure to take both."
In this moment, his immortality was not a blessing, but a curse.
Isaiah was held in captivity until a plague had befallen upon the town.
Numerous townsfolk had begged for him to help, but he felt nothing but resentment and disgust toward these humans and refused to move or speak.
Over time, people slowly stopped coming to him, and as the last person in town fell to victim to their illness, laughter filled Isaiah's cage as could smell the air of death permeating in the town.
His personality:
Personality wise he is very carefree and seemingly cheerful. He does not interact with humans (willingly) and does not think humans and himself are equals, treating them as one would an animal.
Because of his lifespan and his avoidance of meaningful relationships, most things around him have lost all meaning. He does not have anything he is passionate about and lives life only seeking superficial and short-term happiness. He refuses to use his powers on anyone or anything as well. Partially because he doesn't have anyone he cares about enough to want to heal, but also because 'they'll die eventually anyway'.
He has also become quite sadistic. Humans were such entitled beings, he thought. Seeing them in anguish and pain was so much more exciting than healing them ever was.
His abilities:
The way his powers work is that he can change an organism (or part of an organism) in such a way as if it got to live in the most optimal conditions.
So, he can essentially get rid of any negative outside influences on the body. A cut on the skin would be reverted as if it never happened, a burn would disappear, etc.
Anything that was there from birth cannot be changed i.e. people who were born blind; and limbs cannot be regrown, but can be reattached if the original limb is there (even if the limb itself is dead). Though this doesn't work for beheadings.
Trying to revive a dead person or 'heal' a person who is actively dying results in the person becoming/staying conscious and the cells in their body to rapidly divide, causing irregular and bleeding growths to appear. They will stay alive and be awake for the time that Isaiah is actively using his abilities on them, but will die as soon as he stops. Dead people also do not retain their memories.
(Reviving dead plants also does not work if you were curious :) )
Lastly, Akane:
Literally just created Isaiah cause I wanted to give my other OC Akane a friend.
Isaiah is mostly interested in getting to know Akane because they also have a long lifespan. Although Akane isn't immortal, he knows that the other will stick around. Besides, he feels that the two of them are similar in some ways.
Akane thinks Isaiah is weird. Isaiah thinks it's amusing.
Also, he's not exactly a good friend. He's a horrible influence and acts as the devil on Akane's shoulder, feeding into their anger and trauma because he enjoys it (but probably also because he wants Akane to change for the worse like him). This behavior slowly diminishes the longer they know each other, although he will still joke about it.
