Me finding out my roommate leaves early and I have the whole flat for myself the whole week

Honestly my roommate is a nice dude but he is not unaware of the world around him. And it’s so exhausting.

This night I only slept really bad, i sat down at breakfast, started reading an newspaper article about birds and their Songs. Especially a report from a Cambridge prof who is researching about a bird who imitates the alarm sound of a male meerkat and then use the opportunity - while the meerkats hide - to steal their food

He looked at me: „wow, the biggest sign you achieved nothing in your live!“

Me: „being researcher at Cambridge is nothing?!“

Him: „standing in the desert and looking at a dumb bird! We could use the money way better“

Me: you know every animal is part of the ekosytem?“

Him: you can not tell me a dumb ugly bird in the desert is important for the ecosystem“

Me, with only five hours of bad sleep, who only wanted to read her newspaper about bird signing: 🫥

Reminder - as the news talks about shortages in school bus drivers and teachers that they are neglecting the actual cause of those "shortages" in personnel was because in 2018 certain elected officials (cough, MAGAt republikkkans) allowed a conman to dismantle the pandemic response unit.

I just spent like two hours explaining adhd with my brother to my grandparents (on to side of my family that doesn’t have it everywhere) and holy shitttt am I exhausted. Like I have adhd, both my brothers have adhd and so do a few of my cousins some aunts and uncles probably my gramma and maybe as well my great uncle and probably more as that is all on only one side of my family where it’s just highly concentrated at this point. But anyways that is not the point, the point is that trying to have a conversation with two neurotypicals as two neurodivergents about adhd is so fricking frustrating. So like at times my nana would interrupt my brother or get off topic about something and my brother and I would just look at each other like ‘seriously SERIOUSLY!?!???’ because we can’t just go back to the original conversation after getting side tracked that is literally not possible for us. Or at times she would get really focus on interest and being motivated by that and we were struggling to explain how interest is a factor but now I huge part in like studying for exams for example. (please note my mum, who is the not adhd sibling of her generation, is also trying to help explain this) Or also she, still my nana, got really caught up on how it must be that we can't focus because we can't see how it will immediately affect our futures when studying, which noooo we can see we just can't do anything to make ourselves study or be interested. and my grandpa was better about not interupting he did get kinda confused about if my brother (who doesn’t have an official diagnosis, the other brother and I do) was self diagnosing and how can we be sure if he does have adhd. And at this point when both of his sibling do, at least one cousin, two aunts and uncles and probably more family has it and adhd being known to be hereditary, you kinda get to know the symptoms well and can look at someone and go  ‘oh yeah you’ve got this and this and this and oh that too and this over here and oh yeah your life had kinda fallen apart a bit after high school yeah maybe you do have adhd’ so nope we maybe be ‘self diagnosing’ but when we’re also working for a diagnosis and know it that well its really not in the same category.

(and yes I know that they don’t know about this and are just trying to understand and look out for us but despite having grace to them in conversation that doesn’t make it any less frustrating. and im also only mentioning the more annoying/frustrating things here)

So I see this happening all the time...and it’s not cool...

So tired of seeing people on the internet tell autistic people, “You can write with correct grammar and punctuation, so you’re not autistic!  You’re just attention seeking!”  Yeah...no.  First off, autism itself has nothing to do with intelligence, and second, you wanna know how I learned to write like this?  By copying the way books are structured and worded since I was a child, even though I didn’t understand the books my teachers forced me to read!  It took years for me to learn this skill, and it wasn’t natural for me.  My writing actually regresses when I’m super upset, tired, or my brain’s not working right, among many other reasons.  When it regresses, spelling, grammar, sentence structure and punctuation all completely go out the window and it’s impossible to understand what I’m saying, which is why I don’t post things online when my writing regresses, because no one would have a clue what it’s supposed to be about.  Seriously people need to stop armchair diagnosing (or undiagnosing) based on writing ability alone...

Nex Benedict's death wasn't just for being transgender, it was for being native too. 2 Spirits are revered in many native cultures and it is a native-specific identity. This wasn't just a hate crime against trans & NB individuals, this was also a hate crime against Natives of Turtle Island.

You cannot separate Nex's trans identity from their native identity - this is a case of MMIWG2S (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2 Spirits).

Native children being killed at school is nothing new, so it's equally important to talk about Nex's native identity and being intersectional, this is a devastating tragedy for indigenous people, the queer community & especially those of us who are both indigenous and queer.

Had a run in this morning with some ignorant woman who had her dog off leash.

As soon as I spot her, I immediately took pictures of her and her off leash dog because I have a feeling how this will go.

My dog spots her dog, her dog starts charging at mine. Her dog is a maybe 10-15lb ankle biter, my dog is a 60lb German shepherd, so I pull my dog close and tell the woman to put her dog on a leash (There are leash laws in my state - and a $1000 fine).

She says so what, claims she laughs at $1000, then stands by and watches as a *complete stranger* walks by and gets her dog to walk back towards the woman.

I take another picture as she quickly puts the leash on her dog.

For those wondering why I care - if her dog charges at mine and my dog bites - MY dog is the one that gets put down.

So we yell back and forth a bit. I tell the woman that she could've just put the leash on her dog and that would've been the end of it. But... she decided to act like an entitled arrogant bitch and I'm not playing that game. So...

I tell her I'm going to follow her home, and take a picture of her house number to report her to the homeowners association and to the county.

She starts calling me "angry man" and telling my neighbors to watch out for the angry man. Then she decides I'm racist and stalking her and starts telling my neighbors that.

I'm still following her and taking pictures. My neighbors (who see me and my dog all the time) give me nervous smiles as they pass. She's still taunting me, calling me names and warning my neighbors about me.

She walks across the street, I take my dog in and go back outside. I follow her through her neighborhood - warning HER neighbors that she walks her dog off leash and may be the person responsible for random piles of dog shit in the neighborhood.

She gets flustered and starts screaming at me, now her neighbors are *also* giving me nervous smiles. She hurriedly rushes into a house and I get a picture of the house number.

I call my homeowners association and report the bitch. I call the county and report the bitch.

My only regret is that I won't know if she was in fact laughing at the $1000 fine when it shows up at her house.
