Hello! Today I rewatched Titanic for the hundredth time, so I had an idea: https://youtu.be/EyPpMaIBgkI?feature=shared
do you know this scene in Titanic? In any case, here it is,if you haven’t seen this movie (I highly recommend it, crying every time lmao)
So, imagine that Rose is a character (Jax, Pomni, Caine/Kinger) and Jack is the reader
the reader (their s/o) begins to abstracting , the characters understandably end up next to the reader at this moment in a hope to stop the process, but then both realize that nothing helps, and before going completely crazy, the reader begins to calm down characters (just repeat lines from this scene lol) How would the characters react? I'm really interested in Jax's reaction.
P.S. If it’s not difficult, briefly describe how the characters will behave after the death of their s/o
So sorry for my English is so bad!!! I am not speaking it, hope you having a good day/night!!🫶🫶💋
Boat movie
Thank you for the request! I apologize to any Caine or Jax fans who hate how I write them. But hey you can always just not read it, and I write em how they are. Not how we all want em. From this post on I'm going to ask you all add something to your requests. When requesting either Caine or Jax specify if you want the real ones or the softer loving ones. Thanks! Caine, Kinger, Jax, & Pomni's reactions to Reader dying/abstracting in front of them/in their hands
Caine
You definitely aren't the first. And probably wont be the last. He understands that humans for whatever reason don't want to die alone so he stays with you. He stays there sitting next to you on the floor as you progressively get more and more glitched. Sadly he doesn't catch much of what you say as his mind is mainly just ready to put you in the cellar so you don't hurt anyone. Once your abstracted and in the cellar he moves on. Sure he felt slightly closer to you then with all the others digital circus's inhabitants but he'll get past it. Nothing really changes in the long run.
Kinger
Kinger found you abstracting and was about to turn tail and run to find help but you begged him not to leave. That's how you got to where you are Kinger holding you close while you gently cup his face. He listened to every word you said about how he was gonna get out of there and live his life. Have kids and die safe in his home surrounded by loved ones. He permanently searing every word into his brain. As you lean up to give him one last kiss before you fall off the deep end and abstract forcing Kinger to let go of you. He is crazy yes, but he's tough. And losing you makes him want to give up. But he'll get out of this place and live his life. If not for himself, for you.
Jax
Jax was sitting with you as you abstracted. He was just going to leave and do something else, but your pitiful glitchy voice got him to stay. He sits there staring at you as you progressively get worse not even listening to what your saying, his mind wandering to what he would rather be doing. Once you fully abstract he gets up and sprints away so he doesn't get hurt then leaves you alone to rampage about. Not his problem. Hey if someone else dies to you maybe their death will be funnier then yours.
Pomni
Pomni stayed with you. Despite every bit of code in her being telling to run and get Caine she knew she wouldn't be able to in time. So she stayed and held you gently using everything she had in her to not show how she felt. So you could have someone, have her there with you when you went. She listened to your final words and did her best to remember the feeling of you gently kissing her. Once you were gone she went straight to her room to be alone, and to write something down. In a journal Ragatha gave Pomni to try and help with stress she writes down you. You personality, your final words. And she draws you, draws you how you are (were). She isn't going to forget you. She will get out of this place. And if, no WHEN she does she's going to give you a proper burial. She doesn't have your body but she isn't just going to be the last thing she remembers of you, you or a version of you trying to kill her. (I'm feeling a little burnt out on angst asks. But I did enjoy writing this.)
xoxo, Jester

Hey! So ummm, I have a bit of a weird request… I don’t know if you know what League of Legends: Arcane is (if you don’t I highly recommend watching it it’s amazing!) And I was wondering if you could write something like Vi Jinx and Ekko finding a child and taking them in? Idk, I haven’t seen a lot of fics like that and I am absolutely in love with your writing style, but I totally understand if you don’t want to
I love Arcane! I’ve rewatched it like soooo many times. I’ll admit, this is defiantly different from what I normally do, but I’m willing to give it a shot at least. Although I apologize in advance if it turns out badly… 😅
Taking You In
Vi, Jinx, Ekko & Child!Reader
(I’ll say this takes place maybe a year or two before the events from the timeskip, if that makes sense)
Warning: Themes of child neglect, abandonment and abuse are present, please read with caution (if there’s anything else I might’ve missed please let me know)
Vi
You may have pushed your luck a little too far this time, but that dumb guard deserved it. You glare at the ground as you’re basically being dragged along the guards saying something about not wanting to waste extra space just for your punishment. Finally arriving at a cell, you’re a little confused when a guard exits it but don’t have time to question why as you’re tossed inside.
“Enjoy your new punching bag.” One scoffs as he walks away, you knew he was talking about you as you brace yourself for whatever happens next. You’re surprised when they start talking to you.
“So now they’re keeping kids here too? Geez, you look a lot younger then I was when they brought me in.” You look up at the pink haired girl, she defiantly looked like she’s seen better days, having a black and bloody eye and busted up lip. “So what are you in for?” She asks, you don’t say anything, unsure how to respond. “What? Don’t like talking?” It sounded like she was mocking you with her tone, but you couldn’t be sure. You slump to the ground, bringing your knees up to your chest as you try not to cry.
“Hey.” Her sudden softer tone draws your attention, seeing her shuffle a bit closer. “Are you alright?”
“Wh-what do you care?” You manage to say, and try as you might to sound tough you couldn’t hide the shake in your voice.
“I know how it feels to be mistreated, I’m here for something I didn’t even do. They dragged me away before I… never mind.” She sighs, a looking worried or scared about something when she finally sits down across from you.
“I bit a guard.” Now you’re the one pulling her attention, raising a questioning eyebrow. “I’ve been here for a while. All the guards are jerks and keep pushing me around, so I bit one of their hands hard and now I’m here.” You explain. It goes silent between the two of you until you hear quiet chuckles that quickly grow louder.
“Not bad kid, not bad.” She adjusts herself into a better sitting position and extends her hand towards you. “Call me Vi.” She introduces. After a second you hesitantly accept the handshake.
“I’m (y/n).” You greet back, feeling just a slight bit more comfortable.
“Really? From what I can tell you’re more of a Spitfire.” Vi half-jokes, you playfully stick your tongue out at her with a glare. “See, I knew I was right.”
Despite your bleak situation, the both of you had found a new reason to smile.
Jinx
You sit back and twiddle your thumbs trying to think of something to do, sitting around in one area could get boring really fast but you didn’t really know where else to go either. A loud BOOM pulls your attention over to people stuttering away from a blue hired girl twirling one of her braids in one hand and lightly tossing a small device in the other. She spots you and struts over to where your sitting, you stare up at her curiously.
“Well, hiya.” She greets with a large smile.
“Hello!” You greet her back with a smile of your own. She tilts her head at you curiously, you copy her, she tilts her head to the other side and agin you copy her. This causes her to chuckle a little.
“Most people who see me usually run the other way.” She comments, dispute the happy tone there was a slight shake in her voice.
“Why would people do that? You look fun!” You beam at her, completely forgetting about the people who ran away earlier. She seems surprised by your words, but quickly bounced back with a sly grin.
“Well thank you, I think I’m plenty of fun too. Here, why don’t you try?” She hands you the small device she was playing with earlier. You look over the little doohickey tracing your finger along the painted lines. “All you have to do is pull this pin and throw.” She points to the pin holding the divides “mouth” in place. You give it a big tug and it springs to life making a chattering sound, following her instructions you toss it as hard as you can, watching it skid across the ground a bit before it suddenly explodes a colourful cloud of smoke trailing behind. Your eyes sparkle in wonder at the display.
“That was so cool! Can we do that again?” You ask, looking at her expectantly. Her own eyes light up at your excitement.
“Yes! But first I wanna know something, why are you here all by yourself? What, did someone just… heh… drop you off and leave you like weren’t worth their time anymore? Hehe…” There was a mix of curiosity and nervousness mixed together, though not exactly directed at you.
“I don’t know, my mama and papa leave me here a lot when they’re busy and don’t come back for a long time, if that’s what you mean.” You say a bit too casually. The girl frowns for a second but brightens up again as she picks you up. “Whoa! What are you doing?” You look at her confused.
“You wanted to see more cool explosions right? So I’m taking you with me.” She says matter-of-factly.
“I do! But I’m not supposed to go with strangers.” You deflate a little.
“Well, my name’s… Jinx. What’s yours?” She looks back at you with a side smile.
“I’m (y/n)!” You chirp happily.
“See, now we aren’t strangers anymore and you can come with me.” Jinx states proudly. You nod in agreement and let her carry you away.
You were just glad you had more excitement in your life. As for Jinx, a part of her preyed she wouldn’t mess this one up.
Ekko
You limp as far from home as you could ignoring any pain you felt, stupid Shimmer making things so much worse then they already were. Once you feel you’re far enough you sink to the ground to catch your breath, coughing a little as the air felt thicker here. There’s murmuring a short distance away that gets louder as whoever’s talking approaches your location. You shuffle closer to the wall and use any trash nearby as cover from the mystery person, listening in on what they’re saying.
“We need to be fast and strategic about this. Catching this dealer should put a dent in Shimmer distribution, but we can’t…” You leaned over to hear what was being but end up leaning too far, causing your trash over to topple over and expose you. You stare in shock at the pile then slowly turn your head upward to look at several masked figures staring back at you, one steps closer making you cower away.
“Hey, hey, it’s alright. We’re not going to hurt you.” He says calmly holding a hand out for you. After a moment of not seeing any hostile movements from any of them you hesitantly take his hand, letting him help you to your feet and instantly noticing your limp. “Are you okay kid, that injury doesn’t look too good.”
“I’ll… I’ll be okay, just need to rest a little.” You mumble.
“How did this happen to you?” He asks, kneeling down to match your height. You shuffle awkwardly in place, not really wanting to answer. “It’s alright, I want to help.” He takes off his mask letting you see his face and looks at you with gentle eyes. “I’m Ekko, this is my crew,” he gestures to the people behind him who give a short wave. “What’s your name, kid?” You take few breaths to calm yourself.
“I’m… (y/n).” You finally say. “Umm you-you said something about Shimmer dealers?” You ask looking at him curiously. He raises an eyebrow at you.
“I did. You know anything about that?” Ekko questions.
“A little. My uhhh, my dad sometimes makes me pick up his… orders…” You admit, unsure why you’re telling these people this. Ekko’s face twists in disgust, not aimed at you.
“Is that why you’re hurt? Did he do this to you?” His firm tone makes you tense and shrink a little, seeing this he softens his expression. “Hey, it’s alright. We want to and put a stop to this once and for all, you could help us.” You stare at him questioningly. “You had to collect from these dealer before, right? So you could help us identify them.” He explains.
“I don’t know… they aren’t very good people…” You shudder at the memories.
“Don’t worry, from now on, we’re here to protect you.” Ekko promises, once again offering you a hand. There was something about these people that you couldn’t help but feel safer around, especially Ekko, so with a bit more confidence then before you place your hand in his. Ekko lifts you into his arms, reliving the pressure on your injured leg, adjusting you so he could carry you with one arm and signal his group to continue.
You were both nervous and hopeful to what new future awaited you.
That’s all for now, what did you guys think? Should I write more for Arcane? I’m curious what you think 😁

4. Love In The Air (I like to pretend this show isn’t from the likes of m*me but.. what really pulled me in was the immense chemistry between the four leads like.. you can’t make that up!! I enjoyed both storylines too but the raw chemistry really sold it so well)

Tumblr media
9. Not Me Series (ik you’re probably wondering why this isn’t higher on the list and it has nothing to do with the actual series bc I honestly loved it but more to do with the fandom. Tumblr media
10. Kissable Lips (we are in desperate need of more vampire bl’s and they really delivered what they needed to & you know what? I ate this one up so so much)

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury reminded me that I actually do enjoy watching anime, and since I have a bit of a backlog of ones I’ve either watched a few episodes or haven’t started at all, I was inspired by this post to make a scorecard of anime that I intend to watch over the course of this year.
My self-imposed rules are I will not start any other anime before I have finished these 16 (with the exception of Witch from Mercury, see below), I will be watching them with Japanese voice acting and subs, and that, gvien my experience with watching Witch from Mercury on a weekly basis, I won’t try to binge and instead watch an episode or two each day, since that will fit better into how busy life can get, and also give me more time to really think about what I just watched before moving on.
The shows above are listed in chronological order of release (1979-2023), but not the order I’ll necessarily watch them in (I like having the freedom to pick and choose), with additional notes below:
1.) Mobile Suit Gundam (1979; dir. Yoshiyuki Tomino): A more experienced Gundam fan who is also fond of Revolutionary Girl Utena recommended this and War in the Pocket (see below) if I was curious about other Gundam shows. Since I’ve been meaning to watch some older anime for awhile anyway, this seemed like a good series to start with, especially with its historical importance to the medium. I have previewed the first episode and I think it holds up well so far. I will only be watching the 43 episodes of the original anime at this time, so not the movie compilations or the sequel series like Zeta or ZZ (yet).
2.) Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (1989; dir. Fumihiko Takayama): I mentioned that I would permit myself freedom to choose the watch order, but since War in the Pocket is a side-story set around the same period as Mobile Suit Gundam, I feel it would be better to watch the former after the latter, so that I’ll have a better understanding of the setting.
3.) Goldfish Warning! (1991; dir. Junichi Sato): Goldfish Warning! has an interesting history, in that it’s something of a predecessor to Sailor Moon: the latter would reprise the former’s timeslot, much of its staff (including the director and his assistants, among which was a young Kunihiko Ikuhara), and a similar style of slapstick comdey. As a bonus, I’m 99% certain that one of the leads, Chitose Fujinomiya, would serve as inspiration for the Revolutionary Girl Utena character, Nanami Kiryuu. I will be watching both the 45 episode anime series and its accompanying film.
4.) Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995; dir. Hideaki Anno): The thing that piqued my interest in this show was a short review that I read years ago (don’t remember when or where), and that may have been translated from Japanese iirc. The review talked about how gender roles in Eva were inverted compared to mecha shows that came before it, such as how Shinji acted more like stereotypical female characters from such shows, while Asuka acted like what you’d expect from stereotypical male characters. I don’t know how true that observation is, but it stuck with me, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for that. I will be watching the original 26 episodes as well as the End of Evangelion film. I’m debating if I also want to include the Rebuild of Evangelion films, but I’m currently leaning towards watching those sometime later.
5.) FLCL (2000; dir. Kazuya Tsurumaki): I watched the first four episodes at a con, but never finished, so I’ll be doing a rewatch from the first episode. I’ll be watching the original OVA series, but leave the sequel seasons for another time.
*6.) Princess Tutu (2002; dir. Junichi Sato & Shogo Koumoto): I needed to watch this anime after watching an amv of it titled Dance of Death (it’s got spoilers, including for what I’m assuming are the last episodes, but if you don’t mind that or have already seen it, I highly recommend giving it a gander). I watched ‘til around episode 16~ until real life interrupted, so I’m starting over and watching it from the beginning. This is the first of the three shows I’m currently watching, and up next is Ep. 02.
7.) Michiko & Hatchin (2008; dir. Sayo Yamamoto): Multiple reviewers I trust said it was good, the setting and premise sound pretty different from anime norms, and I’m intrigued by the bit of trivia that apparently the director made it explicitly for office ladies to enjoy after coming home from their shift.
8.) Star Driver (2010; dir. Takuya Igarashi): Pretty sure I learned about Star Driver from this chart tracing the work of some of the members of Be-Papas (not *everything* anime-related comes back to Revolutionary Girl Utena, but a lot of it does, yeah  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). I’ll be watching the series, but I’m not sure about the movie since apparently it’s a compilation film, so I’ll have to think about it.
9..) Penguindrum (2011; dir. Kunihiko Ikuhara & Shouko Nakamura): I’ve heard mixed opinions on this one, but it’s an Ikuhara-directed anime so I want to watch regardless, and form my own opinions about it. I’ll watch the 24 episodes, but I’m not sure about the Re:cycle films that came out recently.
10.) Mob Psycho 100 (2016; dir. Yuzuru Tachikawa, Takahiro Hasui): Someone made a vhs recording of the show’s first OP that ran on loop, and that was apparently enough to lodge itself in my brain. I watched the first season and a couple episodes of the second, until real life interrupted, so I’ll start fresh and watch all three seasons, plus the two OVAs that were apparently made.
11.) Sarazanmai (2019; dir. Nobuyuki Takeuchi & Kunihiko Ikuhara): Another Ikuhara-directed anime. I was halfway through before real life interruptions, but watching 11 episodes should be relatively easy.
12.) Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle (2020; dir. Mitsue Yamazaki): In retrospect, I slept on this show, as I hadn’t realized it was another comedy by the director of Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun, not to mention that the premise is a nice subversion of a classic fantasy trope.
13.) Shadows House (2021; dir. Kazuki Ouhashi): I dug the gothic fantasy vibe I got from the review I read. I will be watching both seasons.
*14.) Bocchi the Rock! (2022; dir. Keiichirou Saitou): Repeatedly saw the protagonist compared to Suletta Mercury due to social anxiety, and am staying for the show’s willingness to experiment with animation. This is the second of the three shows I’m currently watching, and up next is Ep. 05.
*15.) Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (2022; dir. Hiroshi Kobayashi & Ryou Andou): The whole reason I started watching this show was this post. And now I have brainrot am perfectly normal about this show. Starting with Ep. 02, I watched this show every Sunday it was out, and intend to resume doing so in April. It is possible that I might not be able to finish this show in 2023, since previous Gundam shows have run about ~50-ish episodes, and this show’s predecessor, Iron-Blooded Orphans, was initially slated to run only 25 episodes, only to reveal that the show length had been doubled in what would have been the last episode. So, I’ll finish Witch from Mercury in either 2023 or 2024.
*16.) The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady (2023; dir. Shingo Tamaki): Another lead compared to Suletta, this time due to rescuing a bride from her jerk fiance and being really gay. This is the third of the three shows I’m currently watching, and up next is Ep. 04.

This is so out of left field for what you guys are currently making content on, but have you ever seen the movie Coraline?
The answer is probably a yes, but I'd just like to say that your fanarts + your Ń̸̞●̸͔k̴̙●̷̠g̴͍ą̶́ẇ̵̠a̴͈ (copy and pasted right from your boosty my bad if it's spelled wrong) series came to mind when I rewatched the movie last night. It has a mix of color and creepiness that reminded me of your guy's ideas and art. Though obviously your stuff is a lot more mature lol.
Anyway if you haven't seen it I highly recommend, I think you both would enjoy it. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong, though.
Have a good day!!
Anon! Thank you for your kind words and for supporting our fanart AND the Ń̸̞●̸͔k̴̙●̷̠g̴͍ą̶́ẇ̵̠a̴͈ stories! We haven’t mentioned the latter on tumblr yet, I can’t believe this is the first time we’re talking about it here lol I am so happy for all the support!
(Just a note: Short stories of Ń̸̞●̸͔k̴̙●̷̠g̴͍ą̶́ẇ̵̠a̴͈ is our original horror/comedy series that we post on twitter)
Unfortunately, we haven’t watched Coraline yet, even though we wanted to for quite some time. Somehow, we always end up forgetting about it… Maybe it is fortunate though, because we’ll get to experience it for the first time, and I’m sure it’ll be fun. Thank you for recommending it to us!
And thank you for thinking about us while rewatching it; it’s such a nice thing to hear. We always wonder what kind of vibes and what kind of atmosphere our projects have. A mix of colour and creepiness sounds like a perfect combo, so I am very pleased that you think of us this way <3
Have a great day too!

been rewatching “Durarara!!” lately, and it’s one of my favorite animes (biased from nostalgia but whatever). the show is a bit complicated to explain, but to sum it up:
it follows the story of a “headless horseman” or “Dullahan” (irish mythological creature) which is basically a “headless rider” who carries their head while riding on a black horse [said to be the embodiment of a Celtic god or something like that]. anyway, it sounds crazy, but bear with me for a bit. the anime makes its own rules of course, so the headless horseman is a badass chick named Celty Sturluson (she wears a cute yellow kitty helmet) and she’s easily the most lovable character in the series who could do no harm. the premise of the story is that she’s an immortal entity that traveled from Ireland to Japan (Ikebukuro) who came searching for her missing head that she lost centuries ago. will she find it? watch Durarara!! and find out (no but she’s got super OP powers like being able to create weapons like scythes and knives out of thin air with her mysterious powers).
the entire show takes place in the restless city of Ikebukuro, Japan and there exists an online + anonymous gang called “Dollars” and you really feel immersed into the setting, because they somehow are able to make you feel involved in their online chat rooms as they gossip about city drama. i’m always a huge fan of anime shows that take place in big cities because i’m naturally a city person, so i find it very chaotic, yet rhythmic and soothing compared to those quiet, boring suburban neighborhoods.
Tumblr media
aside from Celty, the entire cast is pretty diverse, the opening theme tells you all of the main/minor characters names and you learn more about each character’s life every few episodes which build character development - tying the overall plot of the story together while giving enough context. there’s 2 openings and 2 ending songs (25 episodes total) and the first ending song was my absolute FAVORITE because it shows all of the characters holding each other in one really long image, it’s super wholesome and awesome because of how symbolic it is (it even became an internet meme template that people still love today).
Tumblr media
i could honestly go on about this anime for hours, but two of the most fan-favorite characters at the time were Shizuo (blonde) and Izaya (smug twink with fur hood jacket) who absolutely despise each other (more context will be given after you watch just a few episodes). if Shizuo sees Izaya on the streets, he starts going FERAL and chases after his little skinny ass. their relationship in itself is comic relief genius, and 100% my type of humor. i love these two. any OG anime fans will remember this - they were a cultural reset for the yaoi fangirls in 2010, their ship name is “Shizaya”. good times.
in conclusion, this anime just...hits home for me. it’s nostalgic, it had a way different/unique animation style for 2010 at the time. i’m a hipster weeb nowadays who mostly rewatches old stuff. i seldom indulge myself into newer mainstream animes due to personal reasons. however, i highly recommend Durarara!! if you haven’t seen it. it’s a /must watch/ if you enjoy cityscapes, fictional gang violence, supernatural elements, and the like.

Six Decibels of Separation: The Big Lebowski Soundtrack
I can toe-tally understand the cult mentality of The Big Lebowski, a movie that can be both adored and completely overlooked by so many people. “You want a toe? I can get you a toe. Believe me. There are ways, dude. You don’t want to know about it.  Believe me. Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o’clock this afternoon.... with nail polish.”
Forget about the fucking toe. This movie is one of my favorites and I am slowly realizing that I have probably already written a fanboy piece about this movie. This is probably due to the fact that I drink when I watch this movie and I write when I drink. This is like a G-rated Burroughs scenario and I am down for a time.
For the sake of argument, I would like to focus on the music in the movie. It is in this comfy space that I think we might all find some common ground.
undefined
youtube
Lets start out with some Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lookin Out My Back Door, a classic song, but if you only have a minute and you want something to laugh at, the video above will check those boxes.
Being a huge fan of Santana, I always enjoy the musical backdrop to the punch line of an amazing joke in the movie. If you haven’t seen it, the smashed out windshield and Jeff Bridges visual frustration aren’t nearly as comical, but this loop of the guys riding to Oye Como Va cracks me up every time!
undefined
youtube
Nobody fucks with tha jesus. You know this or you don’t, but if you’ve seen The Big Lebowski, you know that given his pedo backstory, tha jesus might not be someone you want to fuck with. In either case, I’d like the share an anecdote from my youth. To properly date myself, I had asked a friend to burn a CD for me and I asked that he put Hotel California on there for me. I ended up getting the cut by the Gypsy Kings and while I might have been pissed at first, I have come to love this version more than any other...
https://youtu.be/61NJnUL7Fcs
Arguably the intro song would have been the poetic beginning, or even end, to this foray into Musical Lebowskianism, but do you see what happens? Do you see what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass? The Man in Me is not an appropriate answer to this question, but it does make sweet ear candy for the lazy malaise of the film. Bob Dylan was a chameleon and this song is but one example.

youtube
It is important to respect the classics. While I won’t pretend to have known the song made famous by the Sons of the Pioneers, Tumbling Tumbleweeds has a soothing nature about it and I’m here for it. Add to it Sam Elliot’s baritone twang and you’ve got the setup for an epic movie indeed.
undefined
youtube
Impossible it would be to talk about classics and not mention Requiem in D Minor, a song you’ve heard a thousand times and might not know the name. After you rewatch this movie, or based on this musical journey decide to watch for the first time, do yourself a favor and grab a book off the shelf, loop this song and shock yourself at how much better you read with this music in the background. Say what you want, but you’ll feel like a genius. For those looking only for a tune and a laugh, click to watch the scene below and enjoy The Dude’s ability to say ‘fuck it’ better than anyone (sorry I can’t post the video directly, evidently you can only post five video’s per post... probably should have learned that by now).
The Big Lebowski (clip 10) "What makes a man, Mr. Lebowski?"
Well I hope you enjoyed your journey through the musical folly and forte of the soundtrack to the cult classic Coen Brothers film, The Big Lebowski. I would highly recommend it, whether it stands the test of time or not, but at the very least I hope you come to appreciate the soundtrack.
“Look, I had a rough night and I hate the fuckin Eagles, Man.”

My Top First-Time Watch Movies of 2022
Warning: this post is super fucking long and contains brief reviews for several movies, so I put it under a read more for you. Also, the opinions reflected in here are purely my own—and I added little content warnings for films that I personally believe needed them, if you haven’t seen them yet.
1. Scrooge (2022)
I feel bad for putting THIS at the top of my list, but my autistic brain latched onto this one like a hungry leech. I am a sucker for animated musicals.
Every song in this movie is a banger. The movie is a very fresh take on A Christmas Carol, with some of the best expressive character animation I’ve seen this year! Probably my favorite take on Jacob Marley’s ghost, as well. This movie actually didn’t forget that it’s the charity and company that Scrooge can’t stand about the season, not Christmas itself, which is a trap a lot of modern adaptations fall into.
I ended up rewatching this one several times instead of going through my holiday movie list. Highly recommended if you enjoyed movies like The Greatest Showman!
Tumblr media
2. The Haunting (1963)
Now, my favorite novel of all time is The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, so the fact that this skyrocketed to the near top of the list was a shocker. But it really isn’t a shocker!
This film is an absolute gem! It has a mastery of foreboding atmosphere and “show, don’t tell.” Oftentimes you’ll come away from a supernatural experience with more questions than answers—but that’s what I love about it (and the book it was based on) so much! The cinematography feels so cold and isolating, a perfect choice. The cast is absolutely phenomenal and I adored that the film incorporated my favorite passage from the book in the script.
“No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against the hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone.”
- first paragraph of Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House
Tumblr media
3. Knives Out (2019)
Now, before I watched this, I’ll admit I love a good mystery, but I wasn’t a “whodunnit” kind of person. This film utterly changed my mind on the genre, and I hope they release like 50 more of these before me or Daniel Craig kicks the bucket.
I think it’s actually his work that makes this film such a standout for me; he’s a lovely revival of the detective character, as competent as he is “out there.” As someone native to the Southern USA, I actually find his accent rather charming and comforting—but maybe that’s part of his shtick, playing it up to make others feel comfortable. It’s a great character choice.
The mystery in the film is fantastic and, just when you think you have it figured out, the film—and Blanc—are one step ahead of you.
To the emetophobic: BEWARE. There’s no amount of looking away that will save you. I promise.
Tumblr media
4. Del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022)
First of all, damn, this movie. This was one of my most anticipated films of the year, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. Hell, the only reason this isn’t number one is that the previous three played to my personal tastes more.
As someone who grew up adoring Disney’s Pinocchio, I was apprehensive about this one, given that Disney’s, while endearing, has its own issues (Stromboli, the unresolved Pleasure Island donkey subplot, and I learned recently that sweet Gepetto was apparently voiced by a motherfucking Nazi sympathizer. Actually, come to think of that last point, it makes this film a LOVELY middle finger to that guy.)
This is a film that speaks to the sweetness of innocence but also its dangers. Whereas the original Pinocchio championed obedience to one’s elders, this film asks, “Why? But what if our elders are wrong?” I think this film will actually be such a great way to explain the concept of fascism to children and why it’s so prevalent and dangerous today. Also, this has one of my favorite interpretations of the fairy, but I won’t spoil her!
Also, let Ewan McGregor sing.
Tumblr media
5. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
I have admittedly not watched all of the Ghibli movies, and I did not have the privilege to see them in my childhood. I actually like that I get to watch these with an expanded palette, so to speak.
We watched the English dub of this movie, and it was extremely well done. I also adored the post-apocalyptic fantasy aesthetic of this movie—Miyazaki went nuts with the alien flora. As someone who started out with Howl’s Moving Castle and Ponyo, I was surprised at the more mature turn the film took, but I think that’s why it’s become one of my favorites.
Tumblr media
6. Nope (2022)
Holy shit. Holy FUCK.
This is actually the one film on this list that falls squarely into the category of “that was the best movie I’ve ever seen! Please never let me watch it again!”
This is pants-shitting.
I normally do decent with horror flicks, but this one had me squeezing my fiancée’s hand in abject terror in the theater. I won’t spoil the twist, but the marriage of the Old West and the alien gave this movie such a unique atmosphere. You’ve never seen anything like it, and probably never will again.
Keke Palmer’s performance is the greatest, without a doubt.
To the severely claustrophobic, heed my warning: this film WILL trigger you. Just take my word for it as someone who isn’t. Also, very much implied child death hell. One of the several reasons this was a fabulous one-and-done.
Tumblr media
7. Glass Onion (2022)
It’s very difficult for a film written about recent events DURING those recent events to feel timely, but somehow, this film pulled it off.
Daniel Craig doubles down on Blanc’s character for this film, and he’s as hysterical as ever. Janelle Monae’s performance, though, blows his miles out of the water. If she doesn’t get some kind of award for this film, we riot.
Also, if you hate the Elongated Muskrat, you will have a very good cackle at several parts of this movie.
The central mystery isn’t quite as good as Knives Out, but after watching it, that may sort of be the point. Make that judgment for yourself.
Tumblr media
8. Psycho (1960)
I was hesitant about this one. However, this film is such a historic landmark that I couldn’t just leave it alone. This film is sort of a proto-slasher, the beginning of your Friday the 13th series, your Nightmare on Elm Street, and so on.
Also, at the time, the Hays Code was still in effect, which did not allow certain things to be depicted. This film stirred up a bit of controversy by showing a flushing toilet onscreen, unavoidable since the flushed material contains some important clues. (This actually isn’t the first American film to depict a flushing toilet, though—there’s a movie called Going Wild from 1930 that has a flushing toilet scene, but the Hays Code didn’t really hammer down on Hollywood until a few years later, so Psycho’s toilet scene is remembered for the taboo of showing it, not for being the first. ✨Trivia!✨)
The film itself is incredibly solid. Anthony Perkins is the standout by far as Norman Bates, though, upon looking into the actor’s biography… without spoiling anything, it makes this film extremely depressing, in hindsight. He does such a fantastic job at portraying a friendliness that is perfectly empty. Still very well done.
As a not-cis person, I feel the need to warn that if you don’t know about the ending, some language and ideas about gender really didn’t age well. It doesn’t end up being the explanation, but be aware of that. It can be pretty awkward, but it wasn’t personally as bad as I was expecting it to be. People with personality disorders may actually have a harder time watching this movie because of archaic stereotypes about them. (I mean, the title isn’t exactly promising about avoiding significant ableism.) Your mileage may vary, but be aware of this if you haven’t seen it and want to watch.
A piece of history!
Tumblr media
9. Princess Mononoke (1997)
The animation and the character design for this one is solid, and the dub’s work was pretty good. Admittedly, I do not get the hype behind this one. It is very gorgeous art—but, to me, it didn’t feel like a film. The pacing in a lot of Miyazaki’s work is a slow burn, but this one left me to simmer just a little too long. I felt like I was watching a painting meander for a couple of hours. It was harder to grow attached to characters, and it was just a little too “out there” for me. I acknowledge its beauty and significance, though!
Tumblr media
And The Mummy (1932), which was absolute balls and will receive no number. You deserve nothing. The makeup was pretty baller, though.

if we’re talking AUs, i rewatched edge of tomorrow the other day (a BANGER movie, if you ever watch another tom c movie i would highly recommend it be that one) and it got me thinking about a roomav version…not an exact AU since the characters/dynamics don’t really match up (and since you haven’t seen the movie) but i feel like a ‘time loop while trying to prevent a disaster’ premise with them would be interesting, one where rooster is in the loop and he has to keep watching mav die over and over again as they try to accomplish this mission and at first he was telling himself he didn’t care but now it just feels like he’s not good enough to keep mav alive, let alone save everyone, on top of all their other baggage…..
Yet another movie I have not seen (you would all be shocked and awed by the amount of movies I have never seen) BUT I am immediately on board for this AU. I deeply love the whumpy angst of a character having to relive a horrible moment and I would in fact offer money, goods, or services to read that fic.

Nine People I Want to Know Better!
thank you @burgeoning-ambition for tagging me :)
Last Song: Interesting enough, it appears that my last song was 夜に駆ける by YOASOBI. I do this thing sometimes where I cruise around town while playing Japanese music in my car and trying to follow the words (even if I don’t understand all of them). It’s also nice when I’m listening to a song and I suddenly realize that I understood what they sang at a certain part. It’s just another fun way I like to fit Japanese into my life!
Last Show: It’s been almost a month I last got into a TV show. I was attempting to begin Bungo Stray Dogs a few weeks ago but haven’t found the time to continue it. The last show I finished must have been The Morning Show earlier this month. It’s addicting and Billy Crudup is just really hot in the show. And before that, it might have been Banana Fish (which was so incredibly good, I highly recommend).
Currently Watching: I’m trying to push through the Evangelion rebuilds right now. I’ve already seen the first three and half of the final one before, but I never finished the last one because I wanted to savor it (apparently it’s a really satisfying ending). So right now I’m rewatching them all. As a mega-fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion, I have quite some polarizing thoughts about the rebuilds of Evangelion, but I digress. Once I’m done, I’ll probably rewatch NGE because I think I’m just back in my Evangelion hyper-fixation phase.
Currently Reading: The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. I am kind of a mega-fan of Murakami books, if you could even call me one. I’ve told myself that I want to read all of his books before I’m thirty (that gives me a lot of time). This is apparently considered to be one of his very best, and I’m quite enjoying it. I’d say I’m probably 3/4ths of the way through it. Maybe I’ll finish it on my red-eye flight tomorrow.
It feels quite funny to look back on all of my answers and see Japanese influences popping up into all of them. This is just the way I keep myself engaged and motivated to continue my studies. If I had no Japanese influence outside of my language studies, I’d probably lose interest really quickly. So it’s good that Japan’s culture and media is endlessly engaging for me.

Hello, my darling friend! I’m sorry for my recent absence, the holidays and all that you know?
I’m not sure if you’re still on your vacation but if so, I hope you’re enjoying it! If you’re no longer on vacation, how was it? What were the highlights of your time away? I didn’t get any snow where I am! It did get down to the teens though which was cool but it’s already back up to like 60F so it was nice while it lasted and of course it’s always nice when you make it out of the unusually cold weather without any burst pipes or major power outages so I’ll take it as a win! Also, I’ve acquired Hail Mary and I’m so excited to read it! However, I’ve got to finish reading the fellowship of the ring and I’ve got 372 pages left so I dont think I’ll get to Hail Mary until sometime in January!
I am taking about j&j yes!!! I have to admit, I got a little weepy seeing the pictures of them. Jenna was/is my favorite YouTuber and has been for like four or five years and I adore Julien with all my heart and keep up with him when I can with his streams. They are my one and only “celebrity” couple and I’m just so happy for them. They both looked so happy and seeing him talk about his wedding and how he’s a wife guy now was just so very sweet. And no, I dont think I’ve ever had mango! I’ll have to give them a try when I can!
I’ve not seen Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man! I keep meaning to and I always forget! Which is so funny because I just rewatched Tobey’s Spider-Man movies! Absolute classics. I’m really surprised you’ve not heard of glass onion! I guess it just shows the bubble I’m in online but it’s the second movie technically to Knives Out if you’ve seen it! If you haven’t, I highly recommend watching Knives Out and Glass Onion! They’re mystery movies that have the same detective in them, Benoit Blanc, and in their world he’s like the best detective in the world and he’s played by Daniel Craig! They are some of my favorite movies for sure. Also the cast for both movies are amazing!
I’ll definitely send a pic of my tree and all the other stuff we talked about me sending pics of in January when im no longer on anon!! Oh, that reminds me! I’d still love to see pics of your bags when you get the chance if you’re back home! I know this is a shorter message so I hope you don’t mind! I’ll be doing a speed round then sending this off to you! I hope you enjoy the last few days of 2022!!!
Speed round: is there an era that you like more than others when it comes to aesthetics? I feel I love the 70’s aesthetic/fashion/music etc as well as the 80’s!! Which I suppose I get from my parents who grew up/were born around then!
I know this is very basic but I can’t remember if I asked you your favorite color(s) so I’m asking now!!! For me I’d say my favorite colors are brown, green and blue!
Are there any weird food combos you enjoy? When I was younger my cousin had me eat Mac and cheese with ketchup… and I did enjoy it. However I don’t really eat it anymore unless I have one of those little Mac and cheese cups and even then it’s kinda rare that I still eat that. I do like spicy stuff with something sweet like I’ll eat hot chips with strawberry yogurt sometimes if I’ve got both.
Do you tend to dream when you sleep? I used to not really dream but I think the past couple years I’ve dreamed quite a lot more than before! I know just last night I had like three separate dreams because I tend to wake up in the night tossing and turning before going back to bed and sometimes a new dream will start!
Do you have an inner monologue? I’ve seen some people say they don’t have a voice in their head for thoughts and etc! I do have my voice in my head when I read or think etc. also are you able to picture things in your head easily? Like when people say “picture an apple and make it rotate” is that something you can do? I kinda can I think? It’s always hard to explain because I picture things when I read I’m pretty sure and afterwards when I think about things I’ve read I can picture the scenes but I can struggle to when it comes to creating faces and making an apple rotate in my mind. It’s a weird thing to ask but I’m pretty curious because everyone has different answers!
What do you do to calm down/relax? I tend to take a hot shower if I’m in a mood/want to relax. Or I try to do things I know will give me a pick up. Sometimes spending time with people helps or even just time with a pet in my room watching tv.
Are you more of an indoor person or outdoor person? I like to think I’m a good mix! I really do enjoy being outside when it isn’t too hot and I’m not being devoured by mosquitoes! But that can be a struggle to find the right time to head out for some fresh air! When the weather allows me to I do enjoy being out in my backyard to read or out in my garage with the door open to just hang out somewhere that isn’t technically inside. I do spend quite a bit of time inside though and need to work on being out in nature more.
I hope you’re well and enjoying this last week! Sending love and good times! ❤️
-🎉❄️
Hiii, hun! Happy Friday!! Hope your week has treated you well thus far!!
Sadly, I’m back home in the cold. I really enjoyed my time in PR this year for the holidays. I’d do it all over again next year if I’m able to! Highlights? I’d say the concert I was able to attend as well as spending Christmas Day at the beach and just enjoying the sun!! It was really nice to see other people outside of their homes and just enjoying the holiday like any other day!!
That’s good to hear that it never got that cold in your area!! Up north, a lot of pipes froze in my area, but luckily not ours. 60°F sounds like luxury when the highest it’s gotten this week was about 35-40°F!! You’ve obtained Project Hail Mary? Woop woop!! January book club!! I have to get back into reading it so I don’t fall behind lol. I tend to be a relatively slow reader, but if I’m really into a novel, I can get through it relatively quickly so let’s see!! (One of my resolutions for 2023 is to get through the stack of books on my desk that have been staring at me for almost 4 months 😅).
You haven’t seen the Spider-Man movies with Andrew Garfield? Okay, now you have to lol!! I think they’re pretty good and the way Andrew portrays this universes Peter Parker is kinda neat. To be frank, I haven’t heard of a lot of things lol. It wasn’t until very recently, I saw multiple posts on my feed about Glass Onion and how good it was that I now have to make time to watch it!!
My multitude of miscellaneous bags? *rubs hands together* alright here we go!!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
As you can see, I have a preferred character lol. I’ve cut back on buying them only because there are still many of them I haven’t worn/used. Which, I’m okay with. Just waiting for the right day to wear them!!
Speed Round Answers!!
Preferred Era? To be honest, I don’t really think about eras too much because I don’t have much knowledge of them. I’d probably say the 90s only because of my limited knowledge of the time.
Fav. Color? It ranges between yellow (sunflower yellow) and purple; pink had also snuck its way in there!! Recently though, I’ve really liked the color orange (tangerine orange or that range between orange and peach in color)!! Idk man, I think all colors are cool in some way!! I think it’s just the artist in me 😅.
Weird food combos? Okay, so awhile ago, I’ve tried to explain this to my friends, but they think I’m weird for it. When I was younger, my mom would make what’s called “farina,” which is essentially hot cereal/oatmeal almost, but not quite. Anyways, I would have that with unsalted crackers and butter because it kinda balances out how sweet the dish would be when combined with unsalted crackers and the saltiness of the butter!! Idk how else to explain it lol. It just works. So I’d say that. Hot chips and strawberry yogurt? Now that’s a weird food combo!! But if it works, it works.
Do I dream? Oh, definitely!! The other night, I had such a weird dream about this dude that I didn’t recognize who had a crush on me and tried everything to convince me to go out with him. All while my family is also hackling me to give this guy a chance because he’s such a nice person and, apparently, I had dated him before in the dream and he wanted to prove that he had changed from the last time we apparently dated. It was a roller coaster of events and from what I can remember, he was kinda good looking so I was a bit convinced lol. This was the first time I’ve remembered a dream pretty well in a long time.
Inner monologue? Oh, definitely!! I always think about it as an initial gut reaction to situations! I want to say I can picture things in my head very well, but I find it hard to put what I think in my head as a 3D concept in front of me at times!! It’s almost like I want to make something how I initially picture it, but once it doesn’t look how I imagined it, it discourages me a little to want to keep going, if that makes any sense. I’ve mentioned it before, but going into this new year, I want to try and get back into art again without having that initial monologue keep me from doing so. It’s been soooo long.
To calm down/ relax? Hmmmm… depends on how I’m feeling. Most of the time, my go-to is listening to music/having a particular song on repeat. The monotony of it helps me fall asleep. Other times, I watch YouTube and have it in the background until I fall asleep. A hot shower truly does help to reset the body to help it relax!!
Indoor/outdoor person? When I was younger, I loved being outside!! Find any excuse to do so!! Nowadays, I’d rather be inside cause I feel like I’ve gotten lazy over the years. I want to try and be outside more and try to take in my surroundings as much as possible. There are many things I wanna do, but never seem to make the time for it .-.
Hope you’re doing good as well, love!! Send all the love and positive vibes your way!! Until the next one ✨

Movie Night!
I had my first post-pandemic movie night on Monday (like, an actual trip to a movie theater).  I think the last movie I saw in theaters was...Gretel and Hansel?  Yeah, that’s it.  Now there’s a movie with zero rewatch value!  Most of what made it enjoyable was the tension and not knowing what would happen next.  I tried watching it again a while ago, but without the air of mystery it was just a lot of boring silences and awkward staring from the characters.  But I digress.
Boy, things have changed!  No one handing out tickets, at least not where I went.  It’s all machines.  So, I took out cash for nothing, lol.  And the ticket is flimsy paper, not cardboard.  Not complaining, or anything, it was just a ‘whoa’ moment.
If you haven’t seen Avatar 2 yet, I highly recommend it!  Go see it...and bring tissues.

Hi, there! For the fic writer questions, 1, 17, 31, and/or 37, please? I absolutely adore your fics and I hope you're having a wonderful day! 💜💜💜
ahhh hi hello tysm!!!
1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)
if i had to chose it would absolutely be together, alone. to this day it’s probably one of my favorite fics i’ve written, and was one of the easiest to write tbh. also, immortal jellyfish are just!!! so freaking cool!! and i wish more people knew about them
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
i think i may have mentioned it on here once or twice before but,,,, h20: just add water amphibia au. one of my cosplay friends convinced me to rewatch the series while i was in my peak amphibia obsession so now there’s just this random doc buried amongst my wips with this whole mermaid/calamity box/mako island plot line planned out. anne is cleo, marcy is emma, sasha is rikki/charlotte,,,, very self indulgent and hyper-specific to my own interests fjdjfjsjfj
31. What’s your ideal fic length to write?
i have this problem where i start writing longer fics and lose interest at around 30/40k words, so right now i try to limit myself to just writing longer one-shots since they’re a bit more feasible for me. usually they end up being around 10k words, sometimes more/sometimes less. most of them end up being anywhere around 5k-15k if i’m including anonymous/deleted fics
37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?
it’s not exactly one of my favorites, but one last time, please is a fic that i wish had done a bit better. it’s super short and was written for yulivia, which is already a much less popular pairing, so it was pretty much doomed from the start. i’m honestly surprised that i haven’t seen anyone else writing about what may have happened immediately post-olivia & yunan, and what may have led to them becoming canon in the final episodes despite not having much screen time together, especially in-between marcy’s possession and their own possessions. it was my first attempt at writing the pairing, so it’s probably a bit awkward in that regard, but i overall really liked how it turned out

New to Disney Plus
A review of my weekend watches this holiday weekend:
Tumblr media
HAWKEYE
Adding to the other MCU shows on Disney Plus, Hawkeye dropped this week with its first two episodes (about 40 minutes a piece). I’ve watched every Marvel show on Disney Plus so far (as you can probably tell on this page). I was looking forward to this one too, and so far I’m really enjoying it. I’m liking how it feels like a MCU film in installments. I like the setting in Manhattan and during Christmas time. Hawkeye’s character has always been someone who hasn’t gotten too much of a spotlight, so a TV show with him as one of the main characters feels right. I think it’s cool that Kate Bishop looked up to him as a kid. I instantly liked Kate Bishop, and I like how the show starts with her as a kid in 2012 witnessing the chitauri destroying Manhattan. She’s a badass with a lot of cool skills, that I’m excited to see develop more. The relationship between Clint and Kate is already a fun one. I also like the call backs to the Ronin and how we have a murder mystery on our hands to solve.
Lastly, I would totally see that Broadway musical, Rogers.
Tumblr media
OLAF PRESENTS...
Another November release that I was VERY excited for. In my opinion, the best part of Frozen 2 was Olaf; from looking for ‘Samantha’ to recapping the original Frozen, he was hilarious. I thought it was genius that Disney would create a short series with Olaf introducing and summing up other classic Disney films. They go really fast, and can be watched in seconds of each other. While there are six episodes listed, there are really five shorts with the last episodes being a compilation of all five. My favorites were The Little Mermaid, Lion King, and Tangled (who Olaf confirmed is a personal friend, which means Rapunzel does exist in the Frozen universe).

CIAO ALBERTO
I know I basically have said I was excited for each of these, but I was EXTREMELY excited and anticipating Ciao Alberto. As I instantly fell in love with the world of Luca, I was thrilled that the movie was getting a short so close to the release of the film. (I know it’s been a bit since the summer, but sometimes we have to wait years.) Luca feels like a film that has a die-hard fanbase or people who have never seen it, so I was happy for some recognition.
Anyways....that’s all to say that while I loved the concept of seeing more of Alberto and Massimo’s relationship, I was disappointed. Not just in how fast it went, but I just felt sad. I wanted to see more happiness and while the moment shown above (in the picture) is HUGE and heartwarming, I wanted a little more of that rather than watching Alberto try and mess up so many times.

SHANG-CHI
This is not my first time watching Shang-Chi, but as it recently came to Disney Plus, I rewatched it with my family. It was still SO GOOD! Out of the last three MCU film releases, this one is hands-down my favorite. The characters are so easy to fall in love with, and root for. The storyline is solid, and I’m looking forward to what will come next. Highly recommend if you haven’t watched already. It’s available for all on Disney Plus.
