I participated in the Sidgeno exchange once years ago but when the fics were revealed it honestly felt like all the big blogs that all know each other just praised each others works to the high heavens while everyone else was pushed to the back/ignored... That made it very unattractive for me personally and I haven't felt the urge to write any sid geno since

i’m sorry you had a bad experience with it! as i’ve only been around the last couple seasons i can’t really attest to the way this fandom operated when you participated, i can only speak to my own time here: when i dipped my toes into pensblr summer before last i felt immediately welcomed even though i didnt know anyone or have ~connections with any of the big blogs. i posted a fic before i even really knew who to follow here, and was almost immediately supported by other sidgeno fic writers.

my experience might not be everyone’s, but generally i’ve found this fandom to be friendly and open and excited when new people join the community.

re: the sidgeno exchange specifically, i participated last year and had a great time. coming from a very large fandom previous to this, it was a nice surprise to see how many people made it a point to read and comment on every fic before the authors were revealed. i think its natural that some writers with bigger followings will get more attention than others (that’s just math, baby), but to me that gesture spoke to the feeling of community between fic writers here.

if you feel comfortable / have the desire, i hope you might try again and see if this version of the sidgeno fandom is a better fit for you.

#I'm sorry this fan had this experience:( that's a shame #I agree with T's point though that the community is always shifting and there are always new people joining and others who move on #and while I'd never begrudge anyone for electing not to participate after a bad experience #I also think there's room for the community to grow and change #I leave comments on everyone's fics for exchanges every year and I think others also do a good job of that! #also I think the fact that we don't really have BNFs anymore helps. idk like sure a lot of fic writers know each other BUT... #I see that more as a symptom of a small community who all do the same hobby instead of something exclusionary #anyways dear anon I hope the spirit of the event reinterests you and I hope you have a better experience if you choose to participate!

Hi. I didn’t draw this for it to be ‘good art’ or ‘correct anatomy’. The only reason I drew this is so I could stare at it and daydream about my little scenarios. You’re welcome to stare at it and daydream about your little scenarios, too, if you like.

The frenetic pace didn’t change much in summers, though Sid usually tried to spend a complete month back home in Nova Scotia. That had been harder to pull off in recent years with Sid torn between Denver and Los Angeles and Montana and Miami and Europe. Settling down was a foreign language. His life had been a runaway train since he was 14. 

“Dunno,” he finally said, and Erik snorted. 

“Are you giving him much say in it?”

“Can I not?” Sid murmured, and he caught the edge of Erik’s smirk as he sat down in the chaise lounge next to Erik’s. “You’re playing with him too, come on. You’ve seen what he’s like.”

“I don’t know,” Erik demurred. “Sometimes it’s different outside and inside the home. Omegas can say and do whatever they want outside it, but when it comes down to big stuff…”
