and omg the potential lucas being the pla protag has when it comes to going BACK to sinnoh too....he was professor rowan's assistant and he wants to go back to BEING that but sometimes he looks at professor rowan and all he sees is kamado exiling him from the village. cynthia comes around for a visit to the professor on some business or another and she turns her head a certain way and suddenly he's abruptly reminded of volo and giratina and "STRIKE HIM DOWN!"
and maybe one day someone asks him where a particular type of pokémon is because he's the Professor's Assistant and he should Know These Things and he DOES but he spent long enough in hisui that what comes out is "oh they're found in the alabaster icelands! the avalanche slopes to be exact :)" and they just stare at him like they don't know what he's talking about and they DON'T and he realizes too late that it's because he used the wrong location names but he can't think of what they're called now anymore.
not to mention!!!! his pokémon from Before (his starter, his clefairy and his kadabra from dppt) are all still as friendly as they ever were but he and his hisuian team are used to fighting for their literal lives against trainers, against pokémon, against legendaries, and his pokémon were BORN and RAISED in the wilds of hisui besides. they retain some of that wildness that pokémon in the modern day (who are ultimately used to a more balanced world between themselves and people) don't have. and with all of that it doesn't exactly make lucas come off as friendly and unintimidating anymore.
and the thing about all of it is that lucas IS in the world he was born and raised in again. he IS in his proper time. but somehow after everything he's lived through it doesn't take much for him to feel like just as much of an outsider in sinnoh as he originally felt in hisui.

Misc Sinnoh Thoughts
Dawn goes through the E4 and does beat Cynthia but she refuses the throne of the champion, something relatively unheard of. She went through so much effort to only deny the title she worked so hard for. But she would rather have all that effort go to waste than have an end result she never wanted in the first place (her journey was because of what adults wanted from her).
Cyrus isn’t snake man type of evil outside of killing children but I can’t help but align youkoso waga tainai e ai to ego no shuuchakuten (outer science) with him. Partially cuz I think it fits him somewhat but this frame from the MV has kind of existed in my head whenever I think of the spear pillar incident (see the below).
Tumblr media
Cyrus kind of saved every admin before forming Team Galactic officially. Them being saved by him essentially causes them to be ride or die for him. They would have gone into the distortion world with him had he not stated only he can go.
Battle frontier gang play a kind of important role (mainly in helping the parents reach their children and evacuation assistance w the gym leaders) but they’re all extremely goofy. They act like a sitcom cast but they’re besties(tm). I’m not to concrete on their dynamics of personalities yet but please know for a fact that they have had to stop Thorton from running himself through Doctor Robotnik’s roboticizer multiple times. Whenever Barry comes to visit Caitlin is horrified at the prospect of two Palmers.
Red Blue and Leaf are also here! They’re here because they want to investigate the creation trio (reasons relating to Kanto style). They kind of exist in the narrative as mentor figures as well assist with protecting civilians but remain kind of uninvolved in the plot. Just think of them as like. If they were in the game they’d be equivalent to walking into Cynthia’s beach home. Super bosses.
Cynthia is favored by Arceus and has visions of the end of the world caused by Cyrus because of it. While she may be favored by it Arceus is still cruel. Arceus does very little divine intervention because it likes testing the fortitude of the human spirit, Cynthia’s especially.
I tiptoe around PLA because I have not played it. But rn my idea is Lucas is the protag but all three go. Emphasize the world is saved because of the three doing their thing in Hisui and saving the world. Have it so the three of them being there saving the world and earning the trust of the lake trio makes them the chosen three in history, therefore being them the chosen three in modern day. It’s a cycle that’s never ending that they can only break out of in the modern day by giving up the entire world. They do come back too but like. Shits fucked.
Post everything (including Hisui) the gang goes to Kalos. Part of the reason why is that Sinnoh is kind of an unlivable place for them but also they want to research Xerneas and Yveltal because while Barry is still “alive” but his revival was very incomplete. Like he can still interact and is himself (minus trauma) but his body is by far the most fucked up and is so cold it’s scary. So they want to see if looking into the legendaries could help them fix their friend. They therefore appear in Pokemashe Kalos Style but they’re kind of unimportant compared to the actual Kalos characters. Like The kanto trio, they’re moreso just acting like super bosses. They also may or may not form a polycule around this time.
CONSEQUENCES OF DISTORTION WORLD YIPPEEE:
Barry is essentially half alive (see above). Has a hole shaped scar in his head.
Everyone has their respective legendary’s stone ingrained into their body where they lost an article of clothing. Anything that touches it causes excruciating, burning pain.
Cyrus kind of never returns from it. Probably dead because being in the distortion world without any form of legendary pokemon watching over them is like being naked in a nuclear reactor. The distortion world distorts all including, but most especially, life.
The admins are kind of listless after this.
Cynthia is fine because again #ArceusMoment but is she really (the guilt is eating away at her)
The gang has nightmares of Dialga Palkia and Giratina haunting them.
Sinnoh’s topography is kind of fucked up too but they’re making repairs.
WORLDBUILDING ASPECT I HAVE NOT MENTIONED YET (The importance of the “apprenticeship”/How to walk among the gods):
Essentially an apprentice to the lake guardians is someone who will carry on their role. If a member of the creation trio is overthrown the lake guardian that correlates with it goes with them. So if someone were to take the place of Giratina, Mespirit would go with them. But in order to become a god you must have a retainer, someone to put you in check (according to Arceus’s rules), so an apprentice must follow with you into godhood.
There must be an living apprentice at all times, so if you die, you’ll be replaced. It’s not required for the lake guardians to approach you, so long as you are present in their mind, but they will only approach if they foresee disaster that threatens a creation trio member’s.

regarding volo
I wrote most of this out in like, spring 2022 when I was still reeling from the Legends Arceus playthough and then just. Forgot to post it. But I feel like it’s about time I gave some context to the whole “Volo exists in the modern day and might be involved in the next gen plot” thing I keep not-so-subtly hinting at so... more info under the cut since this might get long!
The brief TL;DR regarding modern day Volo is that he’s essentially a Faller. After the events of the game plot, Rei/Lucas (the “canon” PLA protag in this timeline) slowly starts remembering details of his life back in future Sinnoh. He becomes depressed and incredibly homesick, to the point of desperately trying to come up with a plan to try and return to his original timeline. Eventually, he opens up about it to Ingo, who’s been experiencing something similar. They manage to piece together enough information to realise they came from the same timeline, and decide to team up to make it back there.
Volo ends up involved in this plan, as Lucas manages to track him down and persuade him to help them get back home, due to his knowledge and because he was the one who originally opened the spacetime rift. Although things are still frosty between them after the events at Spear Pillar, Volo agrees, in part because he initially thinks, well, maybe he’ll get something out of it on his end and at least those pesky sky-fallers will finally be out of his way if they leave Hisui… but in the midst of all this he ends up getting transported through space and time as well, winding up in the present day.
Separated from the others in the rift, Volo wakes up alone on a beach in the Alola region, having lost his Pokémon and most of his memories along the way. He’s briefly taken in and interviewed by Interpol’s UB task force and Aether Foundation, but Fallers from timelines as far-flung as Hisui are pretty much unheard of, and nobody’s quite sure what to do with a guy speaking in what sounds like an archaic Sinnohan or Johtonian dialect. However, Gladion gives him one of the Type:Null being cared for at the facility, as Volo currently has no Pokémon of his own and shows a fascination with the creatures for reasons he can’t explain.
As a Faller, Volo retains his interest in history and myths, and some snippets of lore that feel important for reasons he doesn’t understand. He also remembers he was some kind of merchant before, so he just… keeps doing that, travelling from place to place collecting and trading rare items and unusual artefacts, as well as studying whatever interesting historical sites he comes across on his journey. He’s a bit of an aimless drifter, travelling from place to place without staying anywhere long or getting to know many people too closely; he does make a few friends, but tends to be seen as a somewhat lonely, mysterious figure who never talks about himself much. Occasionally people will tell him he looks like the Champion of Sinnoh and ask if he’s her brother or something, but that doesn’t mean much to him… the name “Sinnoh” does ring a bell though, maybe he’ll have to pay the region a visit sometime…
I could probably say more about Volo (in terms of his true motivations in my PLA storyline, whether his “accidental” spacetime journey was really 100% an accident, where he originally came from/whether Hisui was even his original timeline, how whatever spacetime rift he, Lucas and Ingo fell through might have something to do with the next gen plot shenanigans I never talk about, and his relationships with other characters/how he factors into the next gen plot overall) but a lot of that is still WIP so I will save it for a future post… although if anyone wants to send me asks nagging me to talk more about it perhaps I will oblige :)))

Thinking about the P:LA protag and now it’s really bothering me that they don’t return to their own time at the end. Their life gets upended and now they just have to live two hundred years in the past? What if they liked modern technology? Modern plumbing?
And what about their family and friends? Assuming they are really Lucas/Dawn from DPPt, what about Barry? Did he just wake up one day and text his best friend asking to battle, and never get a response? Did he get impatient and run next door to find their mom in shambles? Bro. This is not okay. I hope that if we get a sequel, the protag gets to go home in the end. After saving the world twice, they deserve it.

i can't wait for rei to meet ingo. most pla fics have the protag latch onto ingo in some way bc they're both ppl from modern times, but i can see rei going "oh shit" once they realize ingo is from modern-day (if not sinnoh, maybe) bc if he recognizes rei as being Not Who They Seem (maybe he knows lucas and recognizes a little bit of him in rei's appearance) and fully regains his memories... that could be p dangerous! and if they (rei and ingo) really get out of hisui and back to present-day, what if ingo has bonded so deeply w rei that he wants to visit every now and then like human friends do. so i see rei being really wary of ingo (every other human in hisui, they can just leave behind and not have to explain when they go back to sinnoh!) and kinda hoping he doesn't regain his memories or leave hisui, so he can't report them to the officers jenny or whatever for impersonating someone like The Sinnoh Champion (altho they prolly wouldn't know that's who their face/body belongs to at that point) and stealing some rando's phone lol.
oh yeah i will not lie ive been looking forward to introducing ingo since before i started actually writing history offers preservation. like 90 percent of the time when ppl write the protag and ingo interacting it's like. ok we have both been eebied from a similar deeby so we gotta stick together! but here? rei's worst nightmare is someone from modern day calling out their bs. like rei knows very little of how things work in actual civilized society and even with ingo's memory loss rei is gonna freak out BIG time. its like. you know how in hitman where if you put on a disguise there's certain people who can still tell you're lying even if everyone else buys it? i feel like rei would be absolutely CONVINCED that ingo will find them out eventually
meanwhile im honestly torn for ingo's side of it... either he's going to very very easily see thru rei's disguise (i feel like he's prob dealt with a lot of zoura/zoroark both in hisui and unova so is used to pokemon trying to pass as humans. like he can't tell with rei at first glance but there's some sort of vibe that ingo picks up on that rei is very much not human) or it goes RIGHT over his head. like its not even something he's at all considering despite any and all signs to the contrary

Info Dump: Rei
Tumblr media
This info is gonna be relevant to the Misplaced Diamond verse. Depending on how this muse takes off he might get a sideblog? I don’t know.
Lucas’ ancestor. I keep forgetting how many decades pass between PLA and modern-day Sinnoh (so I don’t know how many ‘greats’ I need to tack onto Rei’s ‘grandpa’ status).
Honestly, nobody really knows where Rei came from. He’s very tight-lipped about his origins. Am I being lazy and procrastinating on a hometown, or am I contemplating recycling the idea of him being from a failed Diamond timeline? Yes.
It takes him some time to get used to life in the Galaxy Team, but once he did he was able to rise in the ranks fairly quickly.
Obviously Aevus/Dialga is gonna be involved with Rei’s backstory but I haven’t completely settled on how. Do I put him through PLA protag shenanigans or cook up something else entirely...
His team consists of a Hisuian Decidueye (Doctor), an Espeon (Astra), a Bastiodon (Horatio), an Empoleon (Reginald), a shiny Lucario (Zircon) and a Hisuian Goodra (Spinel). The fact that his team is mostly steel-types does kind of leave him vulnerable to a few things, but he doesn’t care. He makes sure their movesets can cover each other’s weaknesses, and he just thinks they’re neat!

Florence Day
"Oh, god. You're smiling. That’s not a good sign."
Florence is the embodiment of fire, in more than one ways. The first and most obvious being her flame-red hair. She can burn your with her flat sarcasm and non-existent social filter, as well as burning you with her fire powers. She has a scalding hot temper, which can lead to singe marks on the ground where she stands. But her fire doesn't always have to mean pain. She's a warm person, physically and spiritually. Her demeanor may portray her as a bitter woman who hates everyone and everything, but deep down she's as soft as the many cakes she loves to bake; it's her go-to activity when she needs to decompress. If she feels she's wrongfully punched you in the face, you can at least expect a cake at your doorstep within a day or so.
She's the daughter of a demi-god, Kent Day, and is the second youngest of four children, one of them being her twin sister. In modern settings, she works at a run-down diner as a waitress, which she eventually goes on to purchase and renovate. In Marvel settings specifically, she often spends a large amount of her childhood as one of Yondu's Ravagers alongside Peter Quill, who she eventually has a marriage and family with.

Star Wars: Visions thoughts and discussion
Been on a bit of a Star Wars binge lately. Getting ready for the Book of Fett and the return of The Mandalorian soon, just finished playing the Jedi: Fallen Order game, and recently "Star Wars: Visions" dropped on Disney+ (not to be confused with the, like, half-dozen other Star Wars properties that use "Visions" as their title). If you've got the streaming service and haven't watched the series yet, I can honestly suggest you should do so. The whole thing is a series of very short episodes and is entirely non-canon to the setting, so you don't even need a hard understanding of Star Wars to enjoy it.
In fact, it's actually better if you don't know anything about Star Wars going in. Spoilers and brief episode discussion after the jump.
Tumblr media
Episode 1: The Duel As soon as I saw a lightsaber umbrella and a R2 droid in a hat, I knew this one was going to be a must-watch.
I REPEAT. LIGHTSABER. UMBRELLA.
Tumblr media
Solid kick-off for the short series. Dig the aesthetic, dig the classic samurai vibe (even if it's more of an homage than a direct application of the style), dig the simple story. The particular animation style they chose here was a little wonky but I quickly got used to the visuals and loved a bunch of the design choices too much to care. This one was very action/style-focused and clearly chosen as the leading episode for that reason, which I don't fault them at all for.
Episode 2: Tatooine Rhapsody I'm sorry, I don't recall giving Star Wars permission to be this fucking adorable, how dare you.
Tumblr media
The tale of a Padawan survivor of Order 66 who makes a new life for himself not with the power of the Force, but with the power of Rock and Roll and Friendship. Bitchin'. Super adorable, semi-chibi art style that's honestly ringing, like, a dozen different bells in my head for trying to figure out all the different styles it's drawing from. Good fun, if a bit bland in the end. The biggest problem is the music. The story relies on "using music to save the day", which is fine. But when you use that trope you need an absolutely face-melting banger of a performance, which this just doesn't have. An enjoyable entry all the same though. Not bad, not great, cute designs; the quirky story of how Jabba the Hutt got a new slave band to play at his den.
Episode 3: The Twins This entire episode is animated by the team who brought us Kill la Kill and that should really tell you everything you need to know.
You know how if you get a bunch of little kids together, they'll start playing make-believe games where they just invent stories and plot twists and super powers like "I have whatever you can do, but infinity plus 1 better!" shit like that? That's what this short is. It has only the vaguest allusions to the setting proper and immediately hurls every semblance of consistency, logic, and sense out the window with both hands. It is 1,000,000% style over substance.
Okay, y'know what, no, that's not enough to describe the utter insanity this episode is. All I can find online is pictures of the main villain character pulling a General Grievous impression or the protag snaring lightsaber whips on his lightsaber, but that is fucking tiddlywinks compared to where this episode goes.
Tumblr media
There is a scene in this short where the protag, who is ghost-riding the hood of his X-Wing upside down in space without a space suit, super-charges his lightsaber into a giant rainbow of FUCK YOU GEORGE LUCAS with the power of familial love and fabulousness, using said rainbow super saber to CUT AN ENTIRE STAR DESTROYER IN HALF WHILE ACCELERATING TO HYPERSPEED, all to save his twin sister's life by making her explode in a somehow non-harmful manner.
This short is utterly nonsensical drivel and yes I would like more right the fuck now, please and thank you.
Episode 4: The Village Bride Wait, we're actually trying to tell a reasonable story in this series? Sorry, I was still on a sugar high from the previous episode. Lemme sit down.
Tumblr media
The Village Bride is great. Excellent short that's just dripping with atmosphere and a slow, purposeful pace to its writing. It's short and sweet with little focus on the Force-using characters themselves, which actually serves to its credit. Even in the Star Wars universe, the Ainu people can't catch a fucking break. Easily one of my favorites in the whole run.
Episode 5: The Ninth Jedi The fact that two characters in this short have Sasuke's haircut was extremely distracting. But I actually really enjoyed this entry overall.
Tumblr media
Despite playing extremely loose with the established lore around how lightsabers work, this episode over all others really embraces the original setting and tells a slow-burn story about the potential revival of the Jedi Order. A little meandering at times, but it's a solid piece and well worth exploring. Of all the shorts in the series, this one has the greatest potential to actually continue on as a standalone series or be folded into the canon franchise. Main protag is an adorable bean and I love her.
Episode 6: T0-B1 This episode is simultaneously a love letter to Astro Boy and a giant middle finger to Star Wars lore purists.
Tumblr media
The tale of an imaginative Droid named T0-B1 who dreams of becoming a hero like the Jedi he's heard so many stories of. This short gets extra credit for being so unyieldingly stylish and charming. On the surface of its presentation and story choices it seems like it doesn't know anything about Star Wars lore, but it's actually packed full of some pretty deep cuts that show the folk behind it do know what they're talking about and just don't fucking care what purists have to say. The entire thing is just "Yeah, I'm ignoring your lore, but I'm doing it in a fun way that makes the setting more interesting, and I'm so genuine about it that you can't be mad at me". I can respect that. Plus the old dude in that screenshot is an armless Jedi who's retired to be a botanist and that's just fucking cool.
Episode 7: The Elder I'm Episode 1, but better.
Tumblr media
This one. This shit right here. This is the good shit.
I'm sure y'all have heard before that Star Wars is directly inspired by Kurosawa and samurai films in general, but The Elder really digs into that hard. Where Episode 1 styles itself after a samurai tale, Episode 7 is a samurai tale. Subdued, methodical storytelling, slow-burn pace, charming dialogue amid believable characters, and a truly intimidating villain who provokes a brief but striking duel. This is my vibe. I crave more of this. Far and away the best short of the entire series.
Episode 8: Lop and Ocho Oh for fuck's sake, there's going to be so much porn of this bunny girl character, isn't there?
Tumblr media
This entry is another that kind of meanders with the story it's trying to tell and plays very loose with the lore. It reimagines a lot of what we know of the Jedi/The Rebels and Sith/The Empire into a feudal faction-based conflict akin to what you'd see in a period samurai drama. Modernization and callous industry crushing the spirit of the people and breaking apart families. A decent work overall, but nothing really all that impressive in the end. It takes too long to get going and then peters out halfway through its pay-off for some reason.
Episode 9: Akakiri The fact that I had to look up this episode's name and scenes online and still could not remember anything about it should tell you a lot.
Tumblr media
The series ends on a downer with the dramatic tale of a fallen Jedi who sacrifices himself and succumbs to the Dark Side. Turning evil for... the greater good? Wha? Had some pretty neat visuals, but I genuinely cannot remember a damn thing about this episode or its characters. Big swing and a miss in terms of impact.

@roleplayersoul has sent: 💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫 idk just everyone i guess fuck me up fa
For every 💫 I get, I’ll give you a headcanon about muse’s FUTURE! {Accepting, specify muse]
Tumblr media
// Agatha will progressively keep isolating herself from the rest of the world, at her current age she just can’t take anymore the kind of harrassment she receives from the modern world. Who shuns, humiliates, bashes at those who made their livings at the so called “dark age” of their history. She will continue hating Oak, only rarely being visitted by Lance or Morty (who has earned her trust).
Read more bc of the length!
Tumblr media
// Blaine unfortunately doesn’t get to live much after the B2/W2 events, he passes away at the age of 65- very close to the conclusion of his gym’s rebuilding. The early death is due to all the years of being exposed to harmful and dangerous substances, he will die while working and will only be found days later when people are starting to question about his whereabouts.
Tumblr media
// Pryce eventually retires from his gym leaders duties, dedicating the rest of his life to his family and his art. Unfortunately he doesn’t find anyone to train in the art of ice sculpting, but near the end of his life he decides to donate his guides, books and materials to a museum so the knowledge about this form of craft doesn’t disappear. He lives long enough to see his oldest granddaughter starting her pokemon journey, I’d say he would be around his 70 and up for it!
Tumblr media
// When Barry turns 20 (10 years after the DPPt events), he will apply himself for a position at the Battle frontier. His son will go on to take his role at the Johto region and start his own division/team there, leaving Palmer to only look after the Sinnoh region. With Barry living in Johto, his wife is capable of moving to the Battle area in order to stay close to her husband.
Tumblr media
// Juan’s son Ceasar is still trying to get him to sign the papers of his paternity, by now Wallace has stepped down from the champion position because Brendan is now the one in charge- instead he became an elite four member (replacing Drake due to his age) [either that or he has moved on to the contest scene completely- cutting his ties with the League]. Not much has changed for Juan, in relation to the League, but in the contest scene- unfortunately his popularity has dwindled due to new and fresh people joining in the scene. There is still a cult following for him, but it is safe to assume his priority has shifted away from the contest. Now he is branching out to movies (thanks to the pokestar studios) and the pokemon musicals in the Unova region.
Tumblr media
// Tabitha has finally truly moved on from his Team magma admin past! He is living his life, nevermore running into nor hearing anything from his former comrades nor enemies. In fact, he even started to land at a few works/projects in the pokestar studios- not really as the main star but serving as the background people (You know- the ones who take part in the large crowds for movies, etc.). He may not get any recognition, but it is safe to see how things have turned out the best for him. Also he has had his own fair share of runs into Team plasma members, and in all cases he always fought against them.
Tumblr media
// Eventually Riley finds himself an even richer and way more influential partner for him, he never gets to spread nor make it known that ‘he is sir. Aaron’s reincarnation’ but he can live with that- since he is enjoying a rich and luxurious life all off the other’s expense. Of course, he doesn’t just leave just like that- he firstly leaves Byron into shambles as the guy was truly and madly in love with him. As well as effectively destroying Roark and his father’s relationship.
Tumblr media
// Brendan officially becomes Hoenn’s champion, after an extensive training and preparation provided by Wallace. Meanwhile, his photographer career takes off- thanks to Juan’s help of showcasing his work in his family’s museum. He, alongside all the other children protags are taking over, the roles they were promised all those years ago (Ethan in the Johto/Kanto region, Dawn in Sinnoh and Nathan in Unova). His life has just begun.
Tumblr media
// Rowan’s life research on evolutions has been fully completed, and has been accepted worldwidely. As well as cataloguing the gender differences in the pokemon species- with those out of the way, he is still acting on the duty of handing out starters all while preparing Lucas to take over his position as Sinnoh’s professor. Once he retires he will have to learn to accept himself, and try to enjoy his sunset years in peace- by then Oak has likely stepped down from his position as well so they are bound to get back at being closer to one and the other.

I just binged The Adventure Zone
It took about three weeks. I’m not a profession writer by any means, but I’d like to vent my experience and issues with some recent narratives. I would assume quite a bit of people share my story: it all started when Homestuck sucked. I invested 3 years into it and it all fell flat. But right from the start The Adventure Zone was different. Already haven watched a bit of Polygon and all of Cool Games Inc. I was already familiar with the people involved and it was immediately evident (although I would not like this post to be totally negative, stick with me) they were much much better at achieving the sort of narrative that Andrew Hussie had achieved. Hussie was a loose canon, running amok and being treated like everything he made made was gold (see: George Lucas). The McElroys however, had not only their audience (who they actually communicate with), but they had each-other.
The Adventure Zone is residing in a narrative style that I had never experienced before. I’m sure there have been other DnD stories, but not one to reach such popularity or complexity. What the McElroy family has crafted can only truly be defined as a Radio Drama, which some will compare to the classic Dr. Who or War of the Worlds stories (but most will think of  The Silver Shroud from Fallout 4). With the modern twist being: only one actor has a script. The McElroys in no way in invented DnD of course, but they are the first in my experience to use its unique properties in a modern narrative.
I’ve read other meta-narratives (”homestuck-likes”) which share many common elements: MSPA (multi-universe destroying demon being held back by the protags running away on a time-looping ship for years), 17776 ( the burden of having an unlimited amount of time), Car Boys ( a black blob destroying all of reality, the heroes get stuck in an infinite timeloop to save the day, Griffin McElroy is there). But most of these (Car Boys being the exception for also having this same distinction) fall flat due to stories that get too convoluted or creators who get too self-indulgent. The Adventure Zone’s unique set-up lets all the writers, the “players”, interact with each-other in an environment that stops this from happening. Where loose ends would be forgotten by a lone writer, at least one of the four McElroys would always bring that chekov’s gun back into play. Where a lone writer would become obsessed on one plot-line or character, the player-to-dm relationship requires all of the participants to be equally spotlighted. Griffin always let his players perform the actions they wanted. The character’s backstories mattered and could not be overwritten with Griffin’s retcons. A bulk of the story was not set in stone, but came out dynamically and flowed naturally. The individual characters were allowed to grow on their own and act appropriately. It’s a situation where Mary Sue’s have an incredibly hard time even existing and where every action must have a consequence.
And Griffin’s introduction of a mtf transgender character was more dignified than Hussie ever could have delivered on. And that’s what matters the most to me.
I’ll write up a more story-focused post on my thoughts and theories before the big finale, possibly on my regular blog so as not to push my art too far down the page. (Although I WILL be doing some TAZ art, its definitely touched me the right way) (In a Creative way you sicko).  There’s still time for some of that classic homestuck-like theorizing (Taako’s gonna invert his classpect ;3 )
