winner: THE MOST SONG EVER. ok this one is abed. it will always be abed. family line i feel like is more about a hostile home enviroment and jeff implies that his was, while winner is more pain of neglect or disconnect so i feel like its more appliable to abed because of how hes shown to not be understood by his parents and feels responsible for his mother leaving and this makes me think of the line "you dont really wanna hear the truth, do you?" because like his mum loving him on paper but not actually loving who he is or be willing to accept hes different and has different needs FUCK abeds mother all my homies hate abeds mother (what im not projecting at all my parents definitely love me and accept that im autistic /s)

Do you have worries about either Envy or Nuzi being rushed and forced in the end to the audience to please certain fans? Would you be saddened if N and Uzi didn't get together in the end, despite all the development and growth the two have gotten over the season so far, especially with their friendship? I've honestly noticed lately that some Envy fans have said Nuzi is being shoved in our faces, but the same could be said for EP 5 "Envy" when they showed the past versions of N and V, and even EP 2 as well..it seems like kinda hypocritical, to me. Heck someone even went out and made an Nuzi hate account over on Twitter and it's laughable and dumb. But anyways, I wanted to ask are you worried about either ship being rushed and not given the amount of development?? I honestly feel bad that I can't like Envy as other fans do..I honestly DO wanna like it and I do kinda ship it, but I only ship and like their past versions, but it's just hard for me to really like N and V as a couple (especially present) In general when the show hasn't really given it the amount of development it deserves and the show also hasn't given me a reason to really root and make them seem believable, at least to me..maybe I'm missing something, idk. 🤷‍♀️🤔 It's sometimes scary and hard to be a Nuzi fan at times though when Envy fans and especially other fans in this fandom (at least when it comes to Tik Tok and Twitter, and even Reddit and Amino too) keep on calling Nuzi problematic and uncomfortable because of so much misinformation being spread and people thinking it's p*oship, EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT!! PLEASE STOP SAYING THIS, BTW!

But some fans are theorizing and assuming that maybe Liam is just playing around with the audience and saying that N and V might end up being the endgame couple which I cannot say, none of us knows until Liam confirms and says anything! I honestly do think there needs to be proper closure with N and V no matter if they get together or not, especially with V's treatment of N. I honestly think that V's sacrifice will affect the characters, especially N..since he and V were close and had a bond with one another!

And one more thing I wanna add real quick is this, now I don't know if this is 100% true or not and I'm just going by from what I've heard, but apparently I've heard that during a live event screening that happened back for EP 2 of the show, Liam Vickers was talking and discussing about how much he loved and enjoyed N and Uzi's dynamic (they are also his favorite characters) and he doesn't like one over the other and was also apparently asked on what his favorite ship was which he didn't say and said we'd eventually find out...I wouldn't be surprised if he's referring to both N and Uzi, since not only do they have the most developed and strongest bond and friendship out of any of the other characters, but the show has hinted at them being a item so many times, it seems sooo obvious. (I know this trope is cliche of main characters being a thing and I'm not the biggest fan of this myself at times, but N and Uzi are an exception for me! ^-^) now I MIGHT be wrong and things may change and go differently we'll just have to wait and see afterall, but even if N and Uzi don't get together..I'll still ship them because they just have more chemistry to me. 💛💜✨ But in the end, shipping isn't everything to me and I'm just here for the story, world-building + angst and the characters as well, but I'm curious to see what Liam ends up doing with the relationships and dynamics, especially since with this show..since anything can happen, especially with how crazy and insane it can be, especially with all it's twists and turns, haha!

Yep, nuzi may be semi-canon right now but everything is possible. We cant be sure what will happen to them exactly. But if nuzi really ins't end-game i hope liam gives a satisfied conclusion to them and their relantioship at least, no matter If Its happy, Sad or bitter-sweet.

Now about envy, i agre with you, i cant really ship their present selfs because of their development and their fans (they are so weird about nuzi and uzi herself ughhh) .

And if envy is going to be the end game in the full series Liam has to like- FOCUS a lot on them since they have a some things to pack up before coming back to each other. But, he has to put Uzi a litte aside for that....and i think thats something quite controversial to do since shes such a beloved protagonist and her relantioship with N is extremely special for the show (and fans)

But now that V has got some development and doesn't really hate uzi that much, envy may still have a chance of end-game.

But If they arent going to be end-game, Liam surely will give a nice conclusion for their relantioship, most probally a bitter-sweet one. (I also still have some Hope for vizzy-)

Also V's death is OBVIOUSLY going to be a part of N's breakdown Togheter with Uzi Almost losing her control and having to save the whole universe thing, Thats the entire point. No matter If he has focused on Uzi more, and getting feelings for her. V still was someone special for him (even If she treated him poorly) not even in a romantic way, if a friend of my died i would go crazy too.

Hello, I share your indignation about the new part of MK. Everything was changed too much and strangely. Can you write down the moments you didn't like? For example, I’m not happy with this whole situation with Kuai Liang - Scorpion, Tarkata - a disease, Raiden - Liu Kang 2.0, Fujin - Raiden’s sister, who is Kung Lao’s lover, seriously?

I WILL STATE that i have not bothered to look at everything myself but hear from reliable sources of the basic information of the game so i cannot give a full and fair critique. And i will not give this game anymore attention than i already have given it since it is just NOT a mortal kombat game.

Lets talk about the reasons you listed bc i agree.

Kuai liang as scorpion and in role reversal:

I am not a fan of this even remotely being "canon" Although the idea should be explored by fans WHO UNDERSTAND BOTH KUAI LIANG AND HANZO HASASHI AS CHARACTERS ORIGINALLY. It completely disrespects hanzo as a character and erases his connection to scorpion being a "gimmick thing to slap onto someone" as a title rather than a personal journey of meaning. And kuai deserves more respect as well, originally being an assassin whose clan tried to "modernize" by removing free will of warriors to ensure obedience and make their spirits and talents disposable. Trying to fight against that. It seems ironic in the end his fate is nothing more than to be toyed with by this unoriginal and uninspiring "role swap au lolz"

The tarkatan race being a disease:

I shouldn't even have to clarify how fucked up this is. Right after in mk 11 we saw tarkatans just being another race living in outworld minding their own business, and kotal fucking up (kotal khan is a wasted character but thats for another post) so we got what was once a "bad guy evil race" to something better. AND THEN THEY FUCKED IT UP AGAIN like isnt that, at best, the most tone deaf shit after what happened in real life with a certain disease and people being uber racist??? And dont get me started on how they messed up mileena with that too. (God damn the writers fucking hate her just as much as kung lao)

Raiden role reversal:

Let me tell you as a raiden enjoyer i fucking HATE them making him a basic ass protag like they did with liu kang (i love liu but lately they just removed all personality from him) its so fucking uninspiring and boring as shit AND THEY MAKE HIM CHAMPION INSTEAD OF KUNG LAO???? THE ABSOLUTE DISRESPECT WHAT THE FUCK i love raiden but he doesn't deserve champion title, that belongs to KUNG motherfucking LAO.

Fujin being a sister????:

Listen i havent seen it but this is the dumbest ass shit i have ever seen in my entire life. As if they couldn't show how little they actually care about fujin......

And the shallow fans who care little about fujin other than a "pretty fuck toy to do teh yaois with uwu" which is also what they did to shang tsung now which is like YOU FOOLS! CARY HIROYUKI TAGAWA-SAMA IS RIGHT FUCKING THERE!!! YOU SEXUALIZE HIM WHEN HE'S AN OLD MAN TOO OR YOU'RE A COWARD AND A SHAM!

And then there's the absolute nothing plot that really shows they ran out of ideas and just slap together bullshit. The villains arent really villains and they suck, its just "stop evil shang tsung but hes not actually evil bc theres this other timeline-" ITS FUCKING LAZY AND PATHETIC WRITING it shows that they want to have it all just to appease fans to take their money. Thats it, thats all this story boils down to. A shoddy scam to bullshit a story to take people's money. I mean you cant even get shang tsung or marjory of fan desired characters without dlc and the base game is like 60-70 bucks like the fuck????

As a regular fighting game? Mid but enjoyable i guess. But as a mortal kombat game? No, thats not even mortal kombat thats just some dumbasses wattpad fanfic after they watched avengers endgame in their crusty batman shirt

I'll end this with a small side note: if my opinions offend, I'm sorry im passionate about a series that was a part of my childhood and made me appreciate Japanese and Chinese culture and kung fu cinema in general. Im sorry if the memories of playing a fun game and caring about the characters having strong bonds of friendship in a violent world designed to be a "kill or be killed" system and despite that choosing to do the right thing in their mind.

auggggggh ive been wanting to make this post for an eternity but i havent been able to because I keep trying to explain myself WELL guess what. Okay, I actually lied at the start of this post, I am gonna try to explain myself. My ideal not-boring version of Feysand that I think of when I listen to this song is like. Okay so, the structure of the story is fundamentally the same (except it takes place over a wayyyy longer timespan) with Feyre initially just kinda going about her new life as a traumatized fae and Rhysand coming to pick her up once a month, which ends up helping her because the SC manorhouse is kind of just covered in a bunch of depressing ooze rn (figuratively) and she cant really leave and Rhysand is basically giving her an excuse to hang out in a place without ooze, so its easier for her to have a good time. Rhysand is kinda awkward around her initially because hes basically like "ohhhhhh shit oh fuck, the woman that I tortured UTM as a fucked up way of coping with what Amarantha was doing to is my soulmate!!" because i really hate the fact that Rhysand apparently already knew about her and dreamt about her before she was even fae, it shouldve snapped in place for both of them during that little scene at the end of ACOTAR but Feyre has no concept of how a mating bond is supposed to feel like so shes just kinda like "huh, that felt kinda weird. anyway"

(this inexplicably got very long. like, 6 more paragraphs long. so much for me not explaining myself)

So yeah, Rhysand is hardcore struggling trying to figure out how to win her over despite all of the torture, but fortunately for him all she wants is to be left alone, so he does that, no putting her in unecessary danger and no asking insane favors of her even though theyve only been hanging out for like two weeks. Idrk how, but at some point they would start to get closer, this all happens very slowly, its a true slow-burn. And then one day Tamlin is like "I cant stand it, I need to find a way to break this bargain" so he collects a bunch of guys and he tells Feyre that theyre gonna go out and travel through all of Prythian and maybe even beyond in order to find a way to do it and itll probably take them atleast a few months. And then when Feyre says she wants to come along because this is about her after all, hes like "no, its dangerous and also, if Im gone then the Spring Court is gonna needs its Lady" and then he puts the shield around the manor because yeah, Im keeping Tamlin shitty in this one, sorry. This is about me trying to make Feysand good but trying to figure that out with Tamlin being in-character is too complicated for me rn so Im just gonna stick to the character assassination (thats something SJM probably also said while writing ACOMAF)

So yeah, like in canon, Mor gets her outta there and then Feyre starts permanently staying the night court except shes not going out on political errands because of the war with Hybern because honestly, this whole war plot is so stupid and it feels so unecessary like cmon Sarah girlie, I can tell youre not actually interested in writing politics, just stick to the romance and the healing journey. Anyway, during her stay she inadvertantly starts spending more time with Rhysand and realizing that he suffered too and that hes only human or fae or something like that, which helps her deal with her UTM trauma because she kinda thought of him as the embodiment of all her new trauma, so seeing that hes really not that and that hes just a person that she can make peace with helps her

Rhys is falling head over heels for Feyre because she just reminds him SO much of Cassian while Feyre is kinda conflicted but starting to develop some affection for him, and again, this happens over the course of many many months instead of just two. And after all that time, Feyre is starting feel pretty good and she doesnt really wanna go back to the spring court if shes totally honest with herself and then oops, Tamlin's back! He finds her and hes super worried like "oh my cauldron, feyre, my servants told me he just kidnapped you and they couldnt find a way to free you!! but Im here now and Im taking you back home dont worry" and Feyre feels guilty and shes basically like "yeahhhhh this was totally necessary, I definitely wanna go back... home, its just that he exploited this loophole in the bargain so had to stay here. Totally against my will, oh no it was so bad" and Tamlin tells her not to worry, theyve found a way to break they just need to get back to the spring court so they do that

At the Spring Court, Feyre gets to thinking. She thinks shes basically completely defeated her trauma by hanging out with Rhysand and shes like "well, my trauma was pretty much the main thing that made mine and Tamlins relationship not work, so now that my trauma is gone its gonna be all smooth sailing from here" and she just willfully ignores the fact that his way of coping with his UTM trauma was suffocating her and making it impossible to deal with her own issues and when she pointed it out to him he had a panic attack about it. Also, at this point it kinda hits her that shes been spending all this time with Tamlins enemy and feeling this affection for him that she hasnt really felt for Tamlin ever since theyve been back from UTM and their relationship started getting really bad, so now she feels very guilty and wants to rush into a marriage with him after all. Also, maybe by this point shes revovered enough to take a step back and start focusing on her surroundings again instead of just herself, and she realises that the people of the Spring Court would really need this kind of big celebration after this long time of turmoil and suffering, so maybe that plays into her decision to marry Tamlin as well idk

Meanwhile, Rhysand is back at the night court absolutely CONVINCED that Feyre is gonna come back to him even without the bargain or atleast send him a message or something, because of the mating bond and because by this point he thinks that Feyre loves him back, she just hasnt said it because Tamlin interrupted them or whatever. Yknow, because Feyre stopped throwing shoes at him and started to tolerate his presence somewhat, which are obviously the surefire signs that someone is in love with you. But anyway, Feyre never does get back to him because shes busy with her wedding and also trying very hard not think about either Rhysand or Tamlin too much so she doesnt simply run out into the forest to avoid dealing with all this bullshit

So yeah, Rhysand finds out about Feyre marrying Tamlin and he gets very upset and so he winnows to the Spring Court on the day of the wedding. Feyre has just been dressed up in this gorgeous pastel pink and green pantssuit (thats very important for the story) and now Ianthe is leaving her alone for a bit before the grand wedding ceremony. At this point Rhysand comes in and they have a confrontation thats basically just the song except in dialogue-form, remember when this post was about a song I really like, yeah me neither. During this confrontation I really want Rhysand to bring up the mating bond and kinda throw it in her face and I want Feyre to basically respond "oh, so now the guy who always preached about giving me choices and not letting others decide for me is gonna get on my case for not doing what some god wants from me, gtfo" and thats basically how it ends. Then the next book is the book where Feyre hay to make the choice between Tamlin and Rhysand because its a romance series at the end of the day, so even though I would like the last book to just be Feyre ending up single and going on her own adventures, I recognize that thats not a great ending for a romance series so

I wanna end this off by saying that I was trying to only focus on the romance for this because its easier, if I were to write my ideal acotar sequel it would look different than this even if I used the original acomaf as a base. So yeah, thats it hope you enjoyed my 7am ramblings, I have been awake for three hours already writing this

ive been thinking thoughts once again (i know) but this wont leave me and I need to ramble or I will die.

before i go into my meandering thoughts, I always ask myself this: at what point in any canon did lawnji 100% decided to give up his life for w2x (the 33 elders do not count, I'll explain further), and in turn, at what point in canon did w2x give up his life for lawnji?

let me touch on the 33 whips for 33 elders thing first: when lawnji harmed those 33 elders, it was already too late, w2x had already gone mad with the resentful energy and he had reached the point of no return, no amount of "come back to gusu" woulda save w2x. and the discipline whip lashes? happened well AFTER w2x's dead, and it was something lawnji brought upon himself, he still had a strong golden core to help him heal along w his SECT LEADER brother and shufu... so there is not real sacrifice lawnji didn't risk his clan, he got out easy bc of his status as lan-er-gongzi, that's not a sacrifice, I'm sorry!

so anyways the main point of this is well, is our main couple so incredibly weak that w2x's interactions with other men (jc, really) had to be cut out or changed in order to make sure our cp stands strong? are they so weak in the canon that other adaptations had to diverge or purposely leave out instances in the source material?

the donghua added in a scene where they met as kids when w2x was still on the streets, which never happened in the novel. the entirety of cql..... lol. and the manhua, ohhhh boy. the manhua which left out the w2x&jc hug after they reunited when w2x was missing (post-back alley noncon-surgery), replacing it with a "no homo!" shoulder bump. and one of the biggest reveals was CUT OUT entirely, jc's sacrifice, all because what? to make jc look bad? or were the creators and fans so insecure of their canon couple that any little thing could rattle their supposed unshakeable foundations? i find it so interesting.

at no point in the novel, we see w2x make a huge sacrifice for lawnji, but he agreed to a 50/50 surgery, agreed to mutilate himself, cut out what is essentially a vital organ, all for his shidi. hm. and how did shidi even lose such a thing? (ntm wc bragging w2x abt how much jc screamed when his core was being melted...)

jc who saw those wen soldiers getting nearer to w2x, jc who had lost everything, who was shackled to filial duty to rebuild and get revenge, used himself as bait, to protect - uh, who was it again? oh yeah - w2x. and don't even tell me jc wouldn't have done it if it meant him losing his golden core, jc KNEW wzl aka the "core melting hand" was at lotus pier, he knew that wzl melted his parents core and killed them, jc isn't stupid. he was fully prepared to die, not just simply lose his core, but to die.

i just find it sooooooooooo interesting our main couple doesn't have anything on this scale? idk man they're supposed to be our cp (canon pairing) like cant they get some more flavour . i just find it so interesting that jc's and w2x's relationship is so intertwined, with so many layers of trust, betrayal, promises upon promises, and yet different adaptations like to pretend they simply don't exist or downplay it.... reeks of insecurity methinks.

23: "Is writing the beginning, middle, or end of the story easiest? Hardest?"

this usually depends on the fic itself for me personally! sometimes I really want to write a beginning but I have no idea where to go with it, sometimes the bulk of the story is what I really want to put out but I need a beginning and an end, and sometimes I know exactly what I want in an ending but I need to write everything to get there first

I most often struggle with the middle and the end. especially the middle. the end I can get caught up in the wording, and what the last words especially should be, but the middle is usually more of a struggle because its what connects everything and is the bulk of the story. it tends to be the area I have the least amount planned for as well, and im already pretty loose with my story planning, so I definitely run into areas where I just. cant figure out how to make the words flow, or how I want to say something

24: "How do you choose whose POV to write in?"

the first thing I decide for any fic I write is who I want the fic to be about. im a character writer before im a plot writer, if that makes sense. I approach writing fics with the mindset of I want XYZ to happen to X character, or I want to expand on X canon event with Y character, or I want to do a character study of Z

I'll use my WIP "shades of purple and red" as an example, I wanted to write something about Charles gaining a new perspective on Hawkeye. this tied in nicely with a vague idea I'd had about how Hawkeye doesnt have a Purple Heart in canon and why that might be, so I figured I'd explore that through Charles' POV

but yeah overall it's less like. choosing who's POV I want to write in for a situation and more knowing the POV character from the get-go and deciding what situation I want them to encounter. if that makes sense

47: "Is there a trope that you��ve written before but are now sick of?"

cant say there is! I dont really get sick of tropes once I like them. if im neutral on a trope and its everywhere ill probably be annoyed by it, but if I like a trope then I dont see myself ever not liking it

this might be because I dont really consume a ton of fanfiction unless im really hyperfixated on something. I have to have a really intense fixation to seek out fic to get the feeling of consuming more content, so while I do really like fic, its not something I get into when it comes to casual interests, so I guess I dont really give myself the chance to get sick of any particular tropes- unless I already feel neutral towards/dislike said tropes

48: "Who is your favorite character to write for? Has this changed since you’ve started writing for that fandom?"

Hawkeye without a doubt. I love digging into his brain and working with his inner monologue and narrative voice. he's also just a very relatable character to me, so he's the easiest of the cast for me to write for

BJ is a close second, though. I love to look at his character arc and his emotional state and I love to sink my teeth into him and shake him around

but marius is 15 and hasnt gone thru his insane growth spurt yet (i hc it happened from 16-18 years old) and most sane professionals are NOT gonna tattoo a tiny little tyke, ESPECIALLY NOT A KID WHO IS VERY OBVIOUSLY THE YOUNGEST VON HAGEN, THEY DONT HAVE A DEATH WISH.

(bc listen, by this point in marius' life, giann is 25 and im sure hes made himself quite the bigshot in the business sphere. commanding, confident, friendly, but very much still hiding the snake fangs that everybody in his family has. fiercely protective over his kid brother, too. mess with the kid and ur gonna go bankrupt for generations.)

so yea marius is going into tattoo parlors with a facemask and hoodie as if that makes the DISTINCTIVE PURPLE EYES any less frigging noticeable. and so with every tattoo artist who turns him away, marius gets more and more frustrated and so hes like "fine!! i'll do it myself!!" and since he knows he wont be able to purchase a real tattoo machine since itd get delivered to the house and somebody might open the package (austin and giann are JUST as nosy as marius ends up being when hes older), marius just decides to fuckinnnn

which, when done correctly and cleanly, is fine!!

but marius is 15 and stupid and FRUSTRATED and he disinfects NOTHING. giann's "my baby brother is doing something monumentally idiotic" radar pings like crazy at some point, 2am of a saturday, and he just YEETS outta bed and finds marius in the bathroom about to stab himself several times with NOT DISINFECTED ANYTHINGS!!!

marius gets scolded so much and hes not taking it well because shut up!! shut the fuck up!!! he just wants this and if he cant get it he needs to take matters in his own hands and also please dont tell dad because he'll go "im not angry, im just disappointed" which sucks because disappointed hurts MORE and youre better because at least youre actually angry and----

giann, sighing: im not angry, you idiot. im worried. come on, let's go

marius: go? where?

giann: someplace where you can get a tattoo without the hepatitis

2:30am and marius is in the passenger seat of giann's car, excited but also confused because why? whys giann doing this? sure, it's a weekend but surely hes got more important shit to do than indulge his moron brother. but sometimes marius asks himself questions he doesnt want answers to (because what if giann answers "yes"? whatll marius do then but just shrink into himself so that giann never has to deal with him ever again), questions hes scared to get answers to, so he shuts up and just lets himself look forward to this.

he lets himself squawk when giann jokes around and reaches over to ruffle his hair, lets himself give giann a fucking headache by hooking up his phone to the aux cord and playing music he loves that giann cant stand (i currently have no hcs on marius' taste in music, will revisit later), he lets himself go quiet at some point. when a single red light stops them at an intersection, marius looks out the window, at the city asleep and the both of them awake, and part of marius feels like as long as he's got giann with him, everything will always work out.

3:00am they get to the tattoo parlor (and shhhh the parlor is open all hours, idk, theres a LOT of shifts) and giann has a friend there whos an artist, very lovely woman and shes like "heyyy, finally gonna get that serpent design i showed y----OH MY GOD, GIANN, THAT IS A CHILD."

marius, offended: IM FIFTEEN!!!

her: YES. A CHILD. I JUST SAID.

and giann asks her this as a favor. she'll get paid, duh, but the favor here is to just close her eyes at the fact that yes, marius is a child. hell, giann tries to do puppy eyes and they SUCK (marius does it so much better) and she rolls her eyes and agrees because it's obvious that giann just wants to give the world to this kid.

and the way marius is going through her design portfolio with a twinkle in his eye, well---and marius comments on her wonderful command of colors and how she makes sure that no matter the skin tone, the design is always striking and bold---well, that seals the deal. he's deffo somebody who understands the beauty of wearing art on one's skin.

she agrees tho on the condition that the design he picks is a simple one thatll only take one visit, tonight's visit, bc if she has a kid coming back here often, thatll be sketchy. and marius is like ok and he picks the solid black inverted triangle design we see in the linked post above. alls well and good until she asks "cool, where do you want it?"

so, context!!! ankle tattoos fucking hurt severely!!! generally, places near bones likely has more nerve endings, and thus hurt very much. less nerve endings are found in places with more fat, and thus are less painful. theres some exceptions to this rule here n there tho, so heres a nifty chart!!! (bc who knows, maybe you, dear reader, want a tattoo. i come from a family of tattoo lovers and my dad has tattoos on backs of both his hands and MANNNN the way he was in agony. fantastic shit to watch)

huh, where was i? OH YEAH. ANKLE. tattoo artist explains to marius that hes signing himself up for a WORLD OF PAIN and hes like "yeah idc" and he doesnt even have a ~profound~ reason for why he wants the ankle, he just thinks it's cool (which is def reason enough, doesnt have to be deep, with tatts, live ur life!!) so he doesnt care

giann: for the love of god, get it somewhere less painful, please

and marius watches just absolutely befuddled and awed as giann rolls up his pants cuff and settles down to get the same tattoo design in the same place with marius.

the tattoo artist is impressed and touched. shes been wanting to get giann tattooed for years, she even made him a killer serpent design, but all those years of nagging never worked. what worked was marius. because giann will always give in to that kid.

tattooing time!! marius indeed doesnt cry, where the HELL did this 15 year old get such a high pain tolerance???? giann does shed a few tears tho. and it's hilarious to marius but he lets giann squeeze his hand whenever he needs to.

when it's all done, they both gingerly walk back to the car (ankle tatts r near the bone so walking is gonna have to be gentle for a while) and when theyre in there, marius feels his question from earlier bubble up again.

why did giann do this? whyd he bring marius here when hes so busy? whyd he get a tattoo with marius when he didnt want to for years?

marius doesnt ask. hes too scared of the answer. but giann knows his little brother like the back of his palm.

he reaches over and pats marius on the head a few times and says "anything you wanna do, kid, i'll always have your back."

and so they go home and marius remembers that. giann will always have his back.

he remembers that years later when giann goes missing

and all of a sudden

nobody is in his corner anymore

(bonus: that tatt design the artist made for giann? the serpent? marius gets it on himself at some point, starting from his back shoulder blade and curling up and over to settle its head close to his collarbone. a protective kind of position, wrapped around him and close to his heart.

he gets it not as a eulogy, but as a promise he isnt going to break. hes going to find giann and giann will be okay. he needs to believe this.

because believing otherwise will destroy him)

also everyone ships race and spot which is valid but idk I just feel like race and albert have more in common?? like. spot is a great character and all of the Brooklyn Newsies deserve so much more screentime and so much more content but i just feel like the only reason people like race × spot is because of the Inner-Bourough Relations and the territorial stuff (bc the brooklyn bois are pretty spooky) but race × albert is so much cuter ?? like they're both Manhattan newsies and they share a lot more screentime and they have a lot more in common and like !! their interactions throughout King of New York makes me cry so hard i love them so much

something is telling me that if i dont learn All Of The Newsies by tomorrow i'm gonna scream

like??? we literally see race kinda take charge after the bulls bust up their strike and jack fucks off to be Emo On The Rooftop (which is still valid and i love him for it) but race steps in and lifts everyone's spirits again and god i love him for it

OH OH OKAY SO THE EMO ROOFTOP SCENE

LIKE. FUCK. people kinda got on Jack's case for leaving after the big fight breaks out and the bulls take Crutchie, but what else can he do? jack is 17. he's scared. he's dealing with his own trauma after what happened to him at The Refuge (which is never explicitly stated, but his reaction leads me to believe there was definitely some kind of ab•se (and its canon that the officers at the refuge don't feed the kids as they should)). he's seen as the tough guy, as the leader, as the father figure for all of the newsies, but he's a kid. he put his life on the line for them, but that's too much responsibility for a teenager.

jack got thrown in the refuge- a jail for kids- because he stole food and clothing for the other boys. he did everything he did for everyone else, without ever taking his own feelings into consideration; it was never a case of "what's in it for me?", it was always "will this help the guys i love?" and that is Jack's biggest quality i think.

anyway- so, he disappears after the fight because he's guilty. he watch his best friend- no, his brother- get taken by the bulls and watched the others he loves get hurt, and he couldn't stop it. again, this is a 17 year old we're talking about. his whole Santa Fe scene is the most pivotal part of the show in my opinion? like- we see Jack having a breakdown, essentially. "just be real is all i'm askin', not some paintin' in my head" is such a painful line because he's holding onto the hope that somewhere he's never seen is good enough to risk leaving his life behind for, and we see the struggles between wanting to stay and help his friends and wanting to get out and live and be able to have a life where he doesn't have to live with such a huge responsibility on his shoulders.

ALSO THE WHOLE THING WITH THE GUYS THINKING JACK IS A SELLOUT BECAUSE HE GOT MONEY FOR TRYING TO CONVINCE THE NEWSIES NOT TO CONTINUE THE STRIKE HURTS MY HEART

like Pulitzer basically said "if you don't tell them to stop this, i'll personally make sure all of them end up in the refuge" and even used Davey as a plot device, since Davey is one of the few that has folks and a little brother, and Pulitzer essentially said "you wouldn't want your pal Davey getting separated from his family, would you?"

Jack believed in the Strike, and he believed in the Newsies, but he couldn't handle the risk of more of his family getting beaten and thrown into The Refuge, and it kills me to see that he couldn't tell the others why he suddenly had a "change of heart", and that they all think that jw just gave up on them until they realize later on that Pulitzer manipulated him right where it hurt most

I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT NEWSIES AND NO ONE TO TALK ABOUT IT WITH SO UH,, IM SORRY YOU GUYS GET THE SHORT END OF THE STICK

listen i could write an entire essay over Santa Fe and i love that song and it's just such an iconic "I Want" song and !!! fuck !!!!!! it's so sad but it bops!!!!!

ive actually forgotten the original context for your asking but this is the big fella itself and i've probably had some form of it since i first started playing BotW

i like a fantasy dipped in history but i also like streamlined design. it makes me a nightmare DM for myself, but it makes me appreciate Nintendo's decision to have NO entirely useless NPCs in BotW and keep especially inhabited places concise but fleshed out, as opposed to populating a fully sized city with clone zombie models you cant interact with at all [knowing look]

i believe its a given understanding that in reality while Hyrule was decimated and beyond during the Calamity and years after, it isnt actually as sparse as it looks to be, especially given the would-be functional populations for the other races'. additionally to have people do specialised work they need to be fed by OTHER people. subsistence farmers will of course have their own material culture but people with more time on their hands will use that time to do things other than survive. this also correlates to time = value because someone else has to feed the person giving their time but thats another kettle of fish for bartering with ... then there's the likelihood of demand for whatever work is offered by the non-farming person, and at what LEVEL that demand reaches. unless to a certain degree there's a lot of people who can choose to not make their own bread, there wont be bakers. generally speaking there's probably gonna be more weavers than carpenters and more carpenters than chandlers.

if its too small to read or too maths for you to bother, tldr; those sheets there have industry listings guaranteed to exist Post-Calamity, canonical means of food production, notes on crop yields and livestock practices under ideal conditions (yarhar farm wisdom im a stealth bumpkin), the actual calculable size of Hyrule (if im not a dumbdumb its about the size of Belgium), calorific intake in grain for the average post-subsistence individual, unstated but certainly canon crops like flax, and a count i did on my mapping survey of all the animals & NPCs physically in Hyrule. Yeah. im so cool.

there's also a few sheets noting inhabited spaces pre-calamity but i may correlate that with how Age of Calamity went if its to be believed, which i believe in part at least setting-wise it IS to some degree realistic to its source, but moving on

for the most part i did it as a brain warm up and practice, but i have drawn several expanded worldbuilding pieces based on it so far, theyre just mostly not finished and/or uploaded yet lmao

the closest i have done is a 3 stage expansion map of Castle Town where i knuckled down and "surveyed" the topography of the ruins like i was doing a building platform survey in the real world using those pithy pre-Calamity cutscenes from BotW main as context .... the final like-to-like map is actually disturbingly similar to what we got in Age of Calamity but i'll need to dig it out to see for sure ... plus a couple versions where Castle Town is Bigger. I've not decided on whether to do a final version where the calculated kilometre-to-map version is taken as true or whether its as it is in a larger field yet.

and then there's the other result of the mapping survey which is where the info for colour and trees and some ruins comes from for the megamap project i've been staring down for a year now (its not abandoned life just happened) but thats a whole other kettle of fish

I'll have you know that the skull crackening made me cry until I threw up (to clarify, crying did not make me throw up, it was the head injury, and I did so quite a few more times) though to be fair the only thing about the whole incident that upset me was that they refused to let me have my birthday there, smh

Also? Jasper, Rachel, n Robert not knowing Jekyll died is absolutely horrific and I adore it. Esp f he starts showing some more obvious signs of being dead/rotting 👀. Hey did you know Jekyll made a potion that can give ghost heartbeats. Like canonically? If you count a single deviantart post from probably a decade ago canon. Though that probably doesn't actually matter in this au as he was revived by Frankenstein, and thus his organs are probably actually functioning! That'd significantly decrease rot too I believe

If it isn't too medically possible we can always use the headcanon I invented for Peppermint Rot, That Jekyll's bones are very weak due to constant transformations ❤

Goodness gracious Imagine being the lodger in that situation, like heck. Also I vote the lodgers panicking and being in tears when running to Frankenstein about the incident. Y'know what would be fun? If no one saw it, so only the Lodger/Frankenstein/Creature knows that he is dead. Maybe Maijabi too bc Frankenstein had no choice but to ask him for help so Henry would keep his memories/personality/everything else that isn't physical intact.

luke pearce comes back from his 8 year disappearance a father, for he has adopted a child

disclaimer: this idea is not up for grabs for other ppl to write it or use it. i will write this as a full fic myself, i just wanted to wordbarf ideas out first

so you cant convince me that luke "orphan boy" pearce would NOT adopt, if ever he were to have a child.

i know the whole "my parents died when i was very young" thing doesnt pop up much in luke's stories, nor does he express too many negative emotions on it, but im sure that if he ever were to make the choice to raise a kid, he'd want to adopt. he'd want to give another kid who lost their parents a life and happiness they didnt think they could get anymore.

but choice isnt really a factor in luke becoming a father. he couldnt say no. he wouldnt.

still figuring out the exact PLOT of how the child HAPPENS but it's linked to NSB stuff. maybe the kid was collateral leftover from a mission and luke was the one who did this mission (AND NO HE DIDNT KILL THE PARENTS, somebody else did, somebody evil, and luke kills THAT evil person), luke was the one the kid immediately imprinted onto and by the time luke got back to NSB HQ, the little girl was clinging to his leg fiercely, the blood splatter on both of them be damned.

"luke saved me," she said, quiet yet fierce. luke gave her his real name because there's no way he's ever going to lie to a child. "so he's mine now!"

everybody finds her adorable and finds luke's immense panic about the situation adorable but it's aaron who finally manages to get the little girl ("my name is evie," she giggles, grabbing for the lollipop aaron is bribing her with. "gimme that and i'll let you talk to luke alone!") to get some snacks from the vending machine with his spare change.

aaron is the one who watches luke have a bit of a breakdown over it all. evie said that luke saved her, and he did, and he cant even bear to think what would have happened if he got to her too late (but he has to think about how he was too late to save her parents). luke is 20 years old and this kid looks at him like hes her entire world, and right now whether he likes it or not, thats true. because her real world was ripped away from her and luke has to pick up the pieces and mend them together into something soft and safe and happy.

"the NSB will place her somewhere shitty," luke says, clenching his fists. "you know they dont give a damn about what happens to people like her. the mission is done."

"but you cant be the one to do this," aaron tells him. "at the very least, you cant do it alone."

"i cant," luke sighs. evie starts walking towards the two of them, a pile of candybars in her arms, and luke lets himself smile. "i'll need all the help i can get."

anyway long story short, luke adopts evie. aaron and his wife look after evie when luke is away on missions. something something more stuff about how basically everything is taken care of and evie lives a pretty wonderful few years with her odd family ("luke is dad, aaron is dad 2, mrs. yishmir is mom 2," evie says. then she blinks up at luke. "dad, when are you going to get married?" and luke chokes on his energy drink)

FAST FORWARD. luke is back in stellis like canon and when he reunites with mc, he's holding the hand of a little girl with bright eyes and a vibrant smile.

"my name is eve pearce!" she introduces herself to mc. "you can call me evie! im detective pearce's best assistant!"

and so everything in canon is the same but not quite

(and my plan in this fic is one HELLUVA nxx ot5 found family (maybe full polycule or platonic, still figuring it out). but yes, mc and the other nxx boys supporting luke and taking care of evie along with him and being there for him every time he has a breakdown over how hes a bad father and how he'll never be enough.

and they let him vent but also they lovingly bonk him on the head from time to time, LUKE PEARCE U R A WONDERFUL FATHER, SHUT THE HELL UP, AND THIS IS A LEARNING PROCESS, OKAY!!!! a learning process for all of them. because theyre all gonna squeeze in and do their own weird brand of parenting with luke. because nxx investigation team means family and family means NOBODY GETS LEFT BEHIND!!!

it takes a village to raise a kid, as they say, and evie is very very happy that her family just got A WHOLE LOT BIGGER. shes a bit confused tho as to who luke is going to marry, theyre all so cool, afterall!!! can he marry all of them? she'd like that. that would mean she'd get SO MANY BIRTHDAY GIFTS!!! >u<)
