Aaron and Andrew
Here is a sort of guide to the twins pasts and how they met, and their relationship with each other throughout the years.
(I really hope this makes sense, do let me know if anything is confusing)
When they were separated
Tilda Minyard became pregnant after what Nicky believes is a one night stand. Once the twins were born, Tilda gave them both up to foster care a few days after they were born. Consumed by the guilt of giving her children up, she returned to the system and decided to take only one of them back. The one she chose wound up being Aaron.
Due to the fact that Tilda didn’t register the twins under a last name, Andrew wound up staying in the foster system under the name
“Andrew Doe” and bounced from family to family, none of them good, until he was thirteen. At this time, he moved in with the Spears. Cass and Richard Spear were the first family Andrew truly felt a connection to, more so Cass than Richard. Cass wanted to adopt Andrew, and he wanted to let her.
The problem was, the Spear’s biological son, Drake, started to sexually abuse Andrew. Andrew finally felt like he had a real family, a real mother, in Cass. Drake was graduating soon and he wanted to join the army right out of high school. Andrew thought that if he could last until Drake graduated, then he could have the mother he wanted and wouldn’t have to give her up because of Drake’s abuse.
Then, Officer Higgins from Oakland PD, who knew Andrew, saw Aaron who was with his mother and her boyfriend at a football game. Higgins believed Tilda was another foster parent and that the twins got separated in the system.
Higgins convinced Tilda to give him her number so he could give it to Cass Spear. She did, likely out of embarrassment and received a call the next day. Tilda told Cass that she wanted nothing to do with Andrew. Aaron, aware of what the call was about, listened on the home phone upstairs. He heard Tilda say that she didn’t want Aaron to meet Andrew. Aaron had a huge fight with Tilda but she wouldn’t budge, so Aaron went behind her back and contacted the Oakland PD. Aaron told them to give his information to Andrew’s foster family. Two weeks after, Aaron got a letter from Andrew telling him that he wanted nothing to do with Aaron, and to leave him alone.
While Aaron was trying to convince Andrew to meet him, so was Drake. Drake harassed Andrew, trying to get him to agree to meet Aaron. This was the reason Andrew refused to do it. Andrew didn’t care what happened to him at the hands of Drake, but he didn’t want anyone else to deal with it, especially the brother he’s never met. Cass convinced Aaron to try again later, and he was going to but he waited too long. Andrew decided to get himself locked up in a juvenile facility to escape Drake’s abuse. Juvie is where Andrew learned to play Exy,
With their mother
About two months after all of this happened, Tilda took Aaron and moved him to Columbia. Once Luther, Tilda’s brother and Nicky’s father, found out about Andrew, he went to interview Andrew’s foster family. A month later, Luther flew himself and Aaron out to California to see Andrew. Aaron picked up Exy in school as a way to get out of the house for a few extra hours to escape Tilda’s abuse.
Andrew noticed something was wrong and didn’t believe that the bruises came from Exy, and so he did everything in his power to get out. A year after this first short visit, Andrew got released from Juvie on good behavior, and put on probation. Luther managed to convince Tilda to take him in and so Andrew moved to Columbia. Andrew found out that Tilda has gotten Aaron addicted to drugs.
Andrew didn’t like Tilda, and made that very clear, but he and Aaron had a cautious, but somewhat friendly relationship. Andrew and Aaron made a deal, Andrew would stick with Aaron until high school graduation, and protect him from women who wanted to hurt him, on the condition that Aaron ice out anyone else. Andrew initially did this to get Aaron to stop seeing the friends who enabled his addiction. Aaron, even with the deal in place, tried to make friends and even date a few girls. One night, Andrew pretended to be Aaron and got into a fight with Tilda. Andrew made it to Luther’s house, which is how the Hemmicks found out about Tilda’s abuse. Luther called Tilda to talk but she took Andrew and left.
It’s uncertain what exactly happened to cause the car to crash, Nicky thought maybe Tilda panicked when she realized it wasn’t Aaron in the car, or Andrew did it on purpose, or if they were fighting. It is later implied by Andrew that he staged the entire accident, yet what exactly happened that caused the crash is still not known. Tilda wasn’t wearing her seatbelt and died during the accident.
Aaron believes that Andrew killed Tilda because she left him in the foster care system. Andrew says that he killed Tilda because she hurt Aaron. Tilda’s death destroyed the fledgling relationship between the twins.
With Nicky
Nicky Hemmick was in Germany when he found out about his Aunt Tilda’s death and when he came back to the states for her funeral, he was told that his father was planning to take in the twins. Nicky was miserable when he lived with his parents and didn’t want the twins to have to deal with what he went through so Nicky became their legal guardians. They got a house in Columbia and the first thing Andrew did was stock the upstairs bathroom with canned food and other supplies and lock Aaron in it, forcing him through withdrawal. Nicky got a job at the restaurant Sweeties where he and the twins were introduced to a non-addictive drug called “cracker dust” to try and help Aaron with his addiction. He found out from customers about Eden’s Twilight and got a job there by befriending one of the bartenders, Roland. Eventually he got both of the twins part time jobs at the club.
Medication
Two years before the start of The Foxhole Court, Nicky was attacked outside of Eden’s Twilight by four men because of his sexuality. Andrew stepped in and nearly beat all four of them to death. The courts rules that the violence took a step too far past self defense and Andrew’s lawyer managed to convince them to have Andrew engage in intensive counseling and be medicated for three years  instead of going to prison.
With the Foxes
Andrew was scouted by Edgar Allen University, with Kevin and Riko, but he turned them down and nearly immediately signed with the Palmetto State Foxes. He signed with the Foxes because Coach Wymack was willing to sign his brother and cousin as well as let Andrew come off his medication for Exy games. All three joined the team.
During the series, the twins rarely interact with each other unless they have to, showing a distant and oftentimes cold relationship. Aaron blames Andrew for Tilda’s death, and Andrew refuses to apologize for keeping his end of the deal they made, even if Aaron won’t.
In The Raven King, while Nicky is trying to reconnect with his parents, Drake is waiting upstairs and attacks Andrew. Neil notices something is wrong and takes Aaron upstairs to help Andrew. Upon seeing what was happening, Aaron murders Drake to help Andrew. After the attack, the decision is made to send Andrew to rehab to get him off of his mood altering medication. He comes back and seems even more uninterested in his brother than usual.
During The King’s Men, Neil manipulates Katelyn, Aarons girlfriend into shutting him out until the twins go to counseling together. Eventually, they do start going and attempting to work out some of their issues. Later in the book, Aaron uses their deal against Andrew, if Aaron can’t have a relationship with Katelyn because of their deal, then technically Andrew was breaking their deal by doing what he was doing with Neil. Andrew angrily and reluctantly agrees to end the deal with Aaron and confronts Katelyn in the library where he tells her that even though he is allowing her to see Aaron, that doesn’t mean he approves of or likes her. He tells her to stay away from him. Aaron and Neil end up switching rooms, Neil moving in with Kevin, Nicky, and Andrew, and Aaron moving in with Matt.
After the books
The twin’s relationship improves slowly over time, but eventually they acknowledge each other outside of the counseling sessions. According to a post from Nora’s Twitter, after the twins graduate and figure out they have to leave each other “Aaron catches hold of Andrew and Andrew is the last to let go.” After graduation, Aaron proposes to Katelyn right before his fifth year at Palmetto and they get married shortly after graduation. Neil manages to convince Andrew to go to the wedding but it takes two separate favors to do so, one to get Andrew to go and the other to make sure Andrew doesn’t threaten Katelyn. Aaron and Katelyn move to Chicago after graduating from Medical school and decide not to have children because of their busy careers and general disinterest in having any. Andrew lives with Neil and they adopt two cats while having successful professional Exy careers.

If you're willing to... tell me a bit about Spiderfiend!
Alright its time. So Spiderfiend in short is my Spidersona! He's very similar to me but not exactly. I changed like little details about him and also how he looks too (he's way buffer than me LMAO and his face is slightly different). For some basic details:
Name: Prince Parker Current Alias: Spiderfiend Pronouns: He/Him Reality: Earth 1408 Identity: Secret known only to Gwen Stacy Height: 5'10 Eye Color: Dark Brown Hair Color: Auburn (reddish brown basically) Family: Unnamed Birth family, Dr Odelia Octavius (adoptive mother), May Parker (adoptive mother - deceased). Friends: Gwen Stacy Love Interest: Rose Jane (RJ) Watson
Bitten by: Spiny Orb Weaver genetically altered by the scientists at OckTech Powers: Wall Crawling, Regeneration, Superhuman Strength/Stamina/Speed/Agility/Durability/Reflexes, Spider Sense, Organic Webs (come from his wrist ONLY), Retractable Claws Demonic Powers: Pyrokinesis, Extra Enhanced Supernatural Eyes (basically four extra eyes that help him see spirits and in the dark), Extra Arms (they're like spirit arms?? Idk how to describe them). Weaknesses: Salt.
Bio: Prince Parker was 15 yrs old when he got bit. It happened on a school field trip to OckTech industries, he had been separated for the group looking for the bathroom and stumbled upon an unused lab. A small orb weaver crawled onto him and bit him on the arm. What Prince didn't realize is that this spider was deceased, but currently possessed by a high ranking Prince of Hell, Mordred. Naturally after being bit, he started to feel a little sick and was taken home. When he got home, he passed out and woke up in a strange fiery throne room, Mordred's domain. Here Mordred explains that (for reasons that are unknown to himself) a number of demons have escaped Hell (Hell is just a demon dimension I haven't thought about it much more than that) and he needs a human to help him bring them back. He argues that because he has made Prince a stronger human (had to spider bite him) he owes him. He then asks Prince to sign a contract: in exchange for even more power Prince would become a pawn an ambassador of sorts for Mordred and help him return the demons back to hell (aka Mordred takes Prince's soul). However Mordred kinda fucks up his own contract (he's not the most diligent of demons) and the actual terms are basically that they own each other's souls. Prince suggests that instead they work together as partners, and that he will happily send the demons back to where they came from, and in return Mordred can help him protect the people of New York. Mordred reluctantly agrees and Prince wakes up. And thus, Spiderfiend, the spider who harnesses the power of a demon to fight demons and humans alike and protects New York!
That's the main kinda info and origin story. I'm gonna put some more notes undercut if you're interested :]
So these are the extra notes:
So I mentioned in the lil bio that May is dead. That is what Miguel would consider Fiend's canon event! When Prince was 12, he and May were coming home from a day out (idk I haven't got all the details yet ahah) and they got mugged by thugs. The thugs might belong to a group that could be important late? I'm kinda starting a lot of stuff from scratch after I scrapped my old lore so a lot of this stuff is subject to change. Anyway May tried to reason with them, thugs didn't listen and one of them ended up accidentally shooting May. The ambulance + police + Odelia arrived to find young Prince crying holding his adoptive mother who was very much dead. This death really changed Prince and its why he demanded that Mordred help him protect others, because he always dreamed of being strong enough to protect others, because he failed to protect May (he blames himself for her death).
Yes Odelia is Doc Ock. She also created the spider that bit Prince. She also knows Spiderfiend is Prince, and is aware Prince knows. Prince knows she's Doc Ock but doesn't she knows he's Spiderfiend. It's complicated 💀
I mentioned before that Mordred gives Prince rings. Basically for every demon power Prince gets, Mordred give him a silver ring. These rings cannot be taken off, as they are proof of the contract between the two. Now for most Spidermen the uncle Ben saying is "with great power comes great responsibility". For Fiend however, its Mordred who delivers the line "great power comes at a great price". That's because with every ring, Prince becomes a little more... corrupted. The corruption which would eventually make him lose his mind and go out of control, (this would happen once there's a ring on all his fingers i.e. 10 rings). It also affects his body in the form of these scar/tattoo like markings. That's why Prince only has a small amount of demon powers, because with every demonic power he gains, he slowly loses his mind (this is not something Mordred can prevent something something nature of humans and demons interacting). Also as for how the powers are picked, usually Prince will pick them based on the dire situation he's in.
The last little note is that some of the villains in my universe will be classic Spiderman villains with a demonic twist. I think the two big ones would be Lizard - Curt Conners got possessed by a high ranking demon and was transformed into a reptile like demon - and Norman Osborn aka Green Goblin - who I will say nothing about for now. There will probably be more but that's all I have for now.
Oh and currently the suit is black and purple! Black and purple being colors associated with demons and corruption and are also intimidating which fits Fiend pretty well (Fiend is only intimidating in appearance though that mf is goofy as hell 💀). If you wanna see my current draft the suit I could share it in dms I'm too shy to post it rn 👉👈

Accents and Syllables in Spanish
Or I’m so mad about this that I wrote an explanation of basic Spanish grammar:
First, all letters in Spanish are consistent in their sound, some consonants vary in how they’re pronounced but there are rules to this. Spanish has five vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and their sounds don’t change. I’m not going to explain the pronunciation of all letters here, so I’ll work on the assumption you’re familiar with them. So if you know the way the letters sound and know the orthographic rules I’m about to explain, you should be able to know how to pronounce any word in Spanish by just reading it.
Words are divided by syllables, each syllable in Spanish feels very individual, like the beat of a drum. Vowels are the core of each syllable, a consonant sound must always come with a vowel, the priority goes to having a vowel after, but it can also follow a vowel when there is none after it.
Respeto: res-pe-to
Vena: ve-na
Estructura: es-truc-tu-ra
Now, each syllable has what we call the sílaba tónica, that is, the stressed syllable. Which syllable you stress can completely change the meaning of a word. For example, título, titulo, and tituló would mean title, [I] title, and [she/he] titled, respectively. Luckily there are rules to know which syllable to stress
When a word ends in a consonant that is not N or S the stressed syllable should be the last one. For example: ayer (a-YER), reloj (re-LOJ), valor (va-LOR).
When a word ends in a vowel, N or S the stressed syllable should be the penultimate one. For example: gato (GA-to), marco (MAR-co), polen (PO-len).
Accent marks (á, é, í, ó, ú), signal the stressed syllable whenever it doesn’t follow the previous rules. This would of course mean that all words where the stressed syllable is any one before the penultima one would have an accent mark.
Café (ca-FE), corazón (co-ra-ZON)
Árbol (AR-bol), cráter (CRA-ter)
Sílaba (SI-la-ba), célula (CE-lu-la)
Hiatus and diphthongs
Ok, now that we covered the basics let’s move to something more tricky. Spanish vowels are divided into strong (a, e, o) and weak (i, u). Whenever two strong vowels are next to each other, each keeps to its own syllable, forming a hiatus. However, a weak syllable gets pulled in by the force of a strong vowel and becomes part of the same syllable; the same thing happens if two weak syllables are together, forming a diphthong.
Hiatus: toalla (to-A-lla), leer (le-ER), aéreo (a-E-re-o)
Diphthongs: reino (REI-no), hueso (UE-so), buitre (BUI-tre), camión (ca-MION)
The way to break a diphthong and make a hiatus with a weak vowel would be if the weak vowel is pronounced with enough strength to break into its own syllable, which would make said syllable the stressed one of that word. In this case, an accent mark is always written regardless of the usual accentuation rules.
Río (RI-o), ataúd (a-ta-UD), cafeína (ca-fe-I-na)
Acento diacrítico
That’s all on accents and pronunciation, but you may have noticed that some Spanish words have accent marks even when you wouldn’t need it to know how to read it out loud, mostly seen in monosyllabic words (which wouldn't need an accent mark in any case). Well this is what we call an acento diacrítico.
This accent mark is used to differentiate between words that are written the same but belong to different grammatical categories. For example:
Sí is an adverb meaning “yes”, while si is a conjunction meaning “if”.
Tú is a personal pronoun meaning “you”, while tu is a possessive determiner meaning “your”
I won’t make a full list, but you will notice that it’s usually the pronouns that get the accents mark. Él means him/it, but el means “the” (Él está enojado vs el carro es rojo). Compare ésta vs esta, mí vs mi etc.
Furthermore all interrogative adverbs have an accent mark: dónde, cuándo, cuánto, qué, quién, cuál, por qué.
And that’s pretty much the gist of it. Now you too can read any Spanish word you encounter!

Can I ask some advice. I was pro choice for years but recently became pro life but now I’m struggling with the realization that all my pro choice friends have really hateful attitudes towards babies and even disabled people that I didn’t notice when I was pro choice. I want to say something but doing so would admit that I changed my mind and I’m afraid they won’t want to be friends with me; they don’t have nice thoughts on prolifers and I don’t want them dismissing me as a brainwashed prude
Hello, thank you so much for your ask! Also, in case nobody else has told you, welcome to being pro life! It is extremely brave of you to make that change when everyone around you has a different view point. As far as advice for talking to them, it is definitely really tough, and I don’t have all of the answers.
My number one piece of advice is to come at it with love and remind them to do the same. A lot of times people who feel very strongly about something feel attacked when they are confronted about it, and it’s important to state out loud that even if you disagree with them, you still love them.
As someone who has been in similar situations regarding different beliefs, if you do feel like you need to speak up about it, you don’t necessarily have to start a debate doing it. A lot of times I’ll say something like “Hey, that’s a human person you’re talking about there” or “That’s not cool, how would you feel if someone said that about you,” which tends to get them to drop the topic.
As far as having a conversation about it, let them come to you and be genuine about it. Explain your points using science-- don’t use religion to convince them if they aren’t religious. Remind them (and remember) that both sides are usually coming at this out of a desire to help women, so we can agree on a lot of concrete solutions that aren’t abortion, such as crisis pregnancy centers and better care for moms. You could also point out that in a lot of ways, abortion is extremely misogynistic and does much more to hurt women-- for example, it’s much cheaper to pay for an abortion than it is to pay for the support the mother will need, so many in society would rather do that then provide women with what they need.
Another thing to remember is that a lot of pro choice woman have had abortions, and in today’s society, people tend to judge their self worth based off of the actions they have done. So if they have done something “bad” they consider themselves “bad” and they can’t fix that. It means that a lot of those women are going to be more resistant to pro life arguments because they don’t want to be bad, and because if they admit that the unborn are humans, then it means they killed their baby.
This is really tough to deal with, and there is no good answer to it outside of the Sacraments. But I would take the time to remind them that just because you do something wrong, it doesn’t make you a bad person. Yes, there is nothing we can do to undo that mistake, but that doesn’t mean that saying it isn’t a mistake is the right answer. Remind them that you love them (and if they are religious, remind them that God loves them and that they can and will be forgiven).
I know this is long, but I hope that it helped!

Hi! It's me again.
In light of the upcoming Ultimate Black Panther 2024 coming out in Feb, "In the wake of Ultimate Invasion", in which Khonshu and Ra are doing things and then are the bad guys.... I thought it a good theme to explore Moon Knight in alternate universes. ....To which I actually know very little about. But I bet you know stuff!
I've seen Moon Knight explored in things like Arachknight (love that outfit) and alternate timelines where he's imagined in different outfits, but what about in actual Marvel time lines like the Ultimate universe or 2099 (which he is also going to be featured in briefly).
How much has he shown up in those lines and can they even be called Moon Knight or just some guys in a Moon outfit?
Thank you so much for sending this my way, because oh ho ho this is something I'm so excited to answer! :D You hit the nail on the head though in regard to how "Moon Knight" is only sometimes our beloved system of Jake, Marc, and Steven and other times it's more of a title. Interestingly, I've noticed anecdotally that many non-616 continuities choose to invent an entirely new character as opposed to doing an alternate interpretation of our favorite guy. A majority of the time, however, they still maintain key facets of the Moon Knight mantle (devotion to Khonshu, for example, being prevalent). I'll break down the major ones (and some of my favorites) under the cut, because there are some really great ones imo. :D
Ultimates (Earth-1610)
I started here not only because you mentioned it specifically, but also because it's the non-616 continuity with the most Moon Knight material and it's possibly the closest parallel to 616's Moon Knight.
Tumblr media
Ultimates Moon Knight appears in Ultimate Spider-Man (Vol. 1/2000), #79-80, #82-85, #107-110 and Ultimate Spider-Man Annual (Vol. 1/2006), #2.
He also makes some cameos in the Ultimate Fantastic Four (Vol. 1/2004), #52-53, Ultimate Origins (Vol. 1/2008), #5, and Cataclysm: The Ultimates' Last Stand (Vol. 1/2014), #5.
Sometimes I just think about this dude, because he's very recognizable as an analogue for 616!Marc Spector, but there are some major differences that receive frustratingly little expansion due to him only being a secondary character guest-appearing in a Spider-Man comic. One difference right off the bat is that it seems in this iteration the Marc and Steven identities are swapped, with Marc being the debonair millionaire frequently used as a cover identity and Steven as the scruffy operator.
Tumblr media
[Ultimate Spider-Man (Vol. 1/2000), #83.]
The other big change, in my opinion at least, appears to be an attempt at more purposefully incorporating in and acknowledging the system's DID, whereas 616 pretty notoriously meandered its way through "nah, they're just cover identities" to "he contracted 'multiple identities' after doing those cover identities Too Hard" (???? Yike?) to finally landing on something a bit more understanding and respectful. The success of 1610's attempt at mental health representation probably depends upon your opinion on Brian Michael Bendis as a writer. An honest attempt was made, but it's definitely not free of the now very dated term "multiple identity disorder" or of stereotypes, with one headmate being a little girl and the whole system being threatened by an encroaching "evil" alter developed as a cover identity (which happens to be "Ronin," another wild little element of this universe) and subsequently going off the rails.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Ultimate Spider-Man (Vol. 1/2000), #108.]
Markedly, I don't recall catching a reference to Khonshu during my read-through of these comics, which is inline with Ultimates' more "grounded" approach to characters, ig. In any case, almost all of 1610!Moon Knight's background is jampacked into a single panel (that consequently frustrates me to no end hahaha):
Tumblr media
[Ultimate Spider-Man (Vol. 1/2000), #108.]
While some of this makes sense for Ultimates' whole deal of updating characters (Gulf War vet and Navy SEAL being more relevant to the 2000's than the very 70's background of globe-trotting mercenary selling his services to any insurgency that will pay,,,,although I shall keep my opinions on SEALs to myself asldkfij), from what I recall, however, they NEVER bring up the fact that this guy is a failed super soldier ever again? Nor the Roxxon connection??? But he (or rather Ronin) does drive a bus into Peter Parker's high school, gets domed by Kingpin's goons, survives (naturally), and is quite helpful in the case to take down Kingpin, so there's that. He's also responsible for some of my favorite panels of all time.
Tumblr media
[Ultimate Spider-Man (Vol. 1/2000), #80.]
Tumblr media
[Ultimate End (Vol. 1/2015), #5]
(technically that last one's from Earth-61610, a fusion of Earth-616 and Earth-1610, but it's the panel I always think about whenever trying to parse out how Ultimates and the main continuity came together hahaha)
2099
The other continuity you mentioned by name and an interesting one because apparently there are multiple continuities associated with "2099." None of them have a "Marc Spector" (may that be because he's resting in peace after dying of old age aslkdfj), but there are some other options. Something that fascinates me though, is that none of these options come from Miguel O'Hara's home continuity of Earth-928 and most of them are women.
Moon Knight of Earth-96943
Tumblr media
I did a post on her character here and personally I think she's rather neat. She only really pops up in 2099: Manifest Destiny (Vol. 1/1998), #1, but she beats up opportunistic capitalists on the moon and tells the Watcher what's good, so again, I think she's pretty cool (and I love how all of her speech bubbles have crescent moons).
Tabitha, Moon Knight of Earth-TRN590
Tumblr media
[Spider-Man 2099 (Vol. 3/2015), #14]
Otherwise known as Tabby (!), this "2099" Moon Knight actually got to meet Miguel and appears in Spider-Man 2099 (Vol. 3/2015), #14-16 (similarly, I expand upon her character here). She's another case of a character fairly firmly relegated to the "supporting" category, but when she does get some panel time, it's a lot of fun, as she has that pretty classic Peter David wit and a big ol' sword that she uses to exorcise a demon out of Doctor Strange (and subsequently banishes it to the moon).
Tumblr media
[Spider-Man 2099 (Vol. 3/2015), #14]
Moon Knight of Earth-2099 (....not to be confused with Earth-928)
Tumblr media
[Spider-Man 2099: Exodus (Vol. 1/2022), #3.]
This one is an....exceedingly interesting case, more thoroughly detailed here. After making a one panel reference to the Moon Knight temple guardian of Earth-96943 (and implying she died RIP sounds fake but okay), Spider-Man 2099: Exodus (Vol. 1/2022), #3 and Spider-Man 2099: Exodus Omega (Vol. 1/2022), #1 establishes this new Moon Knight as the leader of a new team of Avengers. But you have to watch out, because this Moon Knight is also just straight up Khonshu animating a corpse.
Tumblr media
[Spider-Man 2099: Exodus (Vol. 1/2022), #3.]
Those times when the timeline got kind of screwy (so 616!Marc,,,,kind of????)
There are some instances where 616!Marc got caught up in those kinds of situations where everyone gets thrust into an alternate time line or a timeline that was erased for whatever reason, his involvement in which pretty much solely being due to him being an active Avenger at the time.
House of M (Earth-58163)
Marc is technically in House of M (Vol. 1/2006), #3-7, but he's only there to stand in the background of group shots wearing a fit so generic even I have worn it. BUT, however, it turns out House of M: Avengers (Vol. 1/2008), #1-5 fleshes out his character's background in this reality and explains why he gave up the iconic white threads.
Tumblr media
[House of M: Avengers (Vol. 1/2008), #2.]
Tumblr media
[House of M: Avengers (Vol. 1/2008), #1.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[House of M: Avengers (Vol. 1/2008), #5.]
(imo, I mean, look I know it was the 2000's and simple/leather jacket "costumes" were in, but the reason provided was NOT good enough for putting him in the most boring fit possible, but that's just me alskdfj Further note, looks like I uuuuuh missed the House of M: Avengers comics on my initial readthrough so I shall probably loop back around to those some point soon)
Age of Ultron (Earth-61112)
Found in Avengers Assemble (Vol. 2/2012), #14AU and Age of Ultron (Vol. 1/2013), #2, #4-5, the mental health representation isn't always the greatest, but otherwise, there's a lot I'm fond of in these issues. Natasha Romanoff is much more firmly "the main character" with Marc supporting her, but you will definitely get no complaints on that on this here blog. This reality basically boils down to "Natasha and Marc are a criminally underrated duo that could probably destabilize juntas if they chose to do so" and it's great.

Other Continuities (Where Marc Actually Shows Up)
Earth-X (Earth-9997)
This one haunts me???? Because it's one of the earliest examples I can recall of really digging into the irony of a Jewish man serving an Egyptian god as well as artfully discussing that unique tension within Marc of "alive but only just/not really" AND gives Marlene some fascinating development....all within the pages of a special event the plot of which I honestly couldn't explain to you if I tried.

[Universe X (Vol. 1/2000), #6.]
But if you want to check it for yourself (and see if your reading comprehension is better than mine hahaha), this Moon Knight shows up in Universe X (Vol. 1/2000), #0, #6-7, #10-11; Paradise X Special Edition (Vol. 1/2000), #1; Paradise X (Vol. 1/2000), #0 and #11; Paradise X: Devils (Vol. 1/2000), #1; Paradise X: A (Vol. 1/2000), #1; and Paradise X: X (Vol. 1/2000), #1 (and if you're wondering, yes, I did lose a few braincells typing all that out).....but this guy does get a cool color inverse suit!

[Universe X (Vol. 1/2000), #6.]
Battleworld (Earth-51910)
Or at least, I'm pretty sure this is Marc although we only get the last name of Spector. Anyway, amidst the Beyonders’ and Doctor Doom’s shenanigans in Secret Wars Journal (Vol. 1/2015), #1, Spector here lost his faith in "Baroness Khonshu," but at least his design is dope as all get out.

Also, he's a werewolf.

Heroes Reborn (Earth-21798)
The "Marc Spector" who is presented in Heroes Reborn (Vol. 2/2021), #5 and #7 as the sort of Hush and Two-Face to Darkhawk's Batman frankly sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth, as he's straight up described as a "schizo who worshipped the moon" and is generally just a violent criminal who ends up in Ravencroft (...not great in the slightest, all around honestly). Accordingly, the only redeeming quality of this alternate is the DOPE costume he gets when he ends up on this continuity's equivalent of the Dark Avengers.

[Heroes Reborn (Vol. 2/2021), #7.]
Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again (Earth-TRN664)
Oh goodness, please don't make me talk about this comic again; thinking about it Hurts Me. Fairly well executed but so incredibly tragic. Mr. Knight is fantastically sympathetic and a brilliant detective and it all ends horribly. If you want to read Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again (Vol. 1/2017), #1-3, godspeed.

Other Moon Knight Variants
These are some honorable mentions that I'll just have to link my posts for, because I unfortunately have pretty much hit the image limit RIP.
Mariama Spector of Earth-818
Battleworld Frank Castle as Moon Knight
And finally, since I loved the phrase you used of "just some guys in a Moon outfit," I present the ultimate "just some guy in a Moon outfit":
Friggin "Moonwing" of Earth-9602
When Moon Knight got the Amalgam comics treatment, he got mashed up with Nightwing of all characters in Bruce Wayne: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Vol. 1/1996), #1, as detailed here. Basically, they just gave Dick Grayson a past in the CIA and DID, leaving the whole moon motif a bit of a mystery.
Tumblr media
(Amalgam Comics Trading Cards, #8.)
Naturally, there are some variants I didn't mention here. Moon Knight pops up in quite a few non-616 continuities, but most of the time he's just in the background of large group shots and/or action scenes and doesn't have any lines or contribute anything to the plot. Accordingly, I attempted to include just the iterations with the most material that were expressly from different timelines (which is why I didn't include all of the historical Moon Knights from the 2019 Moon Knight Annual or Moon Knight Ravonna who are also from Earth-616). But yeah! I hope this is of interest to someone out there or at least somewhat vaguely answered your question hahaha thanks again!

Hello! I Just wanted to let you know that I LOVED the published ver. of "Don't Shoot the Messenger". And I was so excited to hear that Dale and Sana's story might get published too.
At first I was really unsure about getting the book, as I didn't want to be disappointed if the changes made didn't translate well compared to the original. BUT YOU KNOCKED MY EXPECTATIONS RIGHT OUT OF THE WATER!! IT WAS SO GOOD!!
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I'm so excited for your future projects. And I wish you luck on your future publishing endeavours because I will be buying all future published books by you. And no one can stop me haha >:D
I also wanted to ask if there's a chance that any of your other previous works will also be published? Of course it's a huge effort of time and resources to publish something. But I do hold out hope that I might one day hold Heshi's story in my hands because truthfully it's such a comfort to me and I go back to it periodically to reread. I love that snakey boi. NO PRESSURE THO. If that's not in the cards, just the fact that it exists as a story is wonderful. Thank you so much for all the writing you do.
anyway, bye
@annjo-wolfe
hi! thanks so much! i really liked what DSM actually was and focused on my own edits and that of my editors just honing it to be the best version of itself - so i'm glad that came through and you liked it!
if ur interested in too much info about my self-publishing plans, pls see under the read more
Dale and Sana's story definitely will be self-published,its just a matter of when. it's also probably gonna get more tweaks than DSM due to the length and the way the story evolved over 2 years lol
thank you so much for your support and encouragement with publishing! i'm so happy people are excited about actually buying my stories lol
As for previous short stories that getting published, the answer is yes, i do have plans to publish them as well, they're just a lower priority for multiple reasons. firstly, me and everyone wants NWWD the most so its #1.
For 'Finally Woken' i actually already have the first 2 chapters converted to 3rd POV, however, its shorter than DSM and so would cost nearly as much to have edited but would sell for less (and amazon will try to tell me the spine is too narrow lol) so my current thoughts are to bundle it with 'Selfish' (helpfully already in 3rd person) and make a Naga Novella (called like 'Tangled Up in Tails' or something lol) with both of them in it so i can release it priced similarly to DSM.
For 'Sacrifice', i actually have plans to make that a 5 novella series about different forgotten deities returning to the same town, with 'Sacrifice' likely being offered as a cheaper, first book about a month or so before the second is published to get people into the series. the rest of the novellas would likely not go up on tumblr/AO3 at all and would only be published. i'd like to use this hypothetical series to see how that sort of model would work for me. i've planned out the 5 novellas to some extent but nothings really written yet besides 'Sacrifice'. as a complete project, its very low on my list after everything i'll b posting here and NWWD publishing, so since 'Sacrifice' is tied to that, its not likely to get published anytime soon.
For 'Snapped', i'd likely do something similar to 'Finally Woken' - write another short Sci-Fi/Alien story and bundle them together for publishing. However, i dont currently have anything written that would work so that's also a low priority evn if 'Snapped' is already 3rd POV.
I'm really excited to self-publish my work, but its expensive and what I've made from DSM has come nowhere close to covering my costs and likely won't. the only good thing is basically all the costs are up-front so its easy to jsut keep the books out there and making money when ppl buy it. i have a good job and am happy to spend my money to get my work out there and hope over time self-publishing will break-even, but that will take years at a minimum so it'll be slow going in the beginning.
my goal is to get everything self-published so it'll just be a matter of time - i too want to hold a copy of Heshi's story in my hands lol
thank you for all your support and giving me a chance to ramble about all my self-publishing plans!

Sack’s Random Kirby AUs #1: Perennial Bloom AU
Desperate to bring Sectonia back, Taranza makes a gamble after learning of Morpho Knight’s existence. Taking a bold stand, he travels to the Divine Terminus and summons it in hopes that if he defeats it he can resurrect the person he loves.
And Taranza does prove himself in battle, but Morpho Knight still refuses to grant his wish. It tells him that the cycle of life and death cannot be disturbed and that there’s nothing it can do. He must accept Sectonia’s death.
Taranza won’t, though. In an impulsive, last ditch effort, he makes an proposal that neither he or Morpho knight expected to hear:
“What if I offer up my own life!? You… you said you couldn’t bring her back because that would disturb the cycle of life and death. Could I… take her place? That way, it wouldn’t upset the balance.”
Morpho Knight, intrigued by his offer and impressed by his bravery, ends up presenting an impulsive deal of its own:
“Half of your life. Split your spirit in two and rekindle her soul. Your lifespan will also be cut in twain, but the person you love will return, having stolen much of your future from you.”
Taranza accepts, albeit under one condition:
“Return her as she was,” he pleads.
“I will remove the rot,” it responds. “The corruption will cease, but I can make no promises she’ll still be the person you remember after having experienced what she has. Her heart will return to her, but her memories will remain.”
Taranza’s frightened, but says that’s just fine. That’s… all that matters. That Sectonia is alive again, and that the curse he put on her is lifted.
As such, he willingly sacrifices half of his life. Sectonia returns.
She looks like she once did— like Joronia, that is. As she stares at Taranza, she’s frightened and confused.
She says she doesn’t know what’s going on. What… what happened? The last thing she remembers, she was…- t- there was that pink thing. She was fighting it. It…
“Killed you,” Taranza confirms. But he reassures her it’s alright. She’s back now. He’s been trying to save her for a very long time.
Staring at him, though, she’s even more confused. She remembers attacking him. She remembers hating him. Why?
He explains her corruption— just what the mirror did to her. He describes her becoming a tyrant who not only went on to terrorize Floralia but who treated him with abject cruelty. She remembers everything.
She’s horrified. Horrified, and a little angry. Why… why would Taranza try to bring her back? After being abused— seeing her become a monster? Why would he bring her back, knowing she’d have to remember that? Knowing she’d look like this again?
Fingers stretch. The shape of her eyes shifts. Fuzzy brown skin and orange horns remain, but golden wings burst from her back.
In a voice that isn’t hers, she screams:
“Why would you do something like that!?”
A pause. She freezes up at the sound of her own voice. She stares down at elegant fingers, quivering.
“What- what’s going on!? What did you do to me!?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Mage Sisters and Hyness are surprised when Taranza returns with the person he was hoping to save— they had no hope he’d succeed… and that surprise only grows when they realize he’s carrying her. She’s unconscious, and he’s screaming and crying about something having gone wrong.
Hyness’s hypothesis is that it has something to do with her nature as a parasite. For years she existed as a Frankenstein’s monster— an uncanny yet beautiful monster made of other peoples’ sewn together parts. Now that she’s ‘herself,’ again, her body has no idea what it’s supposed to be.
He, Francisca, and Flamberge take her inside to try and wake her, then calm her down. Zan Partizanne is put in charge of supervising Taranza in the meantime.
The minute they’re alone, she asks him, point blank:
“What did you do?”
Taranza plays dumb, saying he has no idea what she’s talking about, but Zan isn’t going to fall for it. She says that she’s familiar with death, and that there’s clearly more to this story than Taranza is implying. There’s no way Morpho Knight just brought Sectonia back. Taranza made some sort of deal with it, didn’t he?
He says he did no such thing. She tells him if that’s the story he wants to tell, then it’s fine, but she just wants to warn him: miracles don’t come for free.
(Rich, coming from her.)
Eventually, Hyness and the others are able to wake Sectonia, and by the time Taranza’s arrived, she’s calmed slightly. She’s still clearly unnerved, but says they explained everything to her— both what’s likely going on with her and how much he suffered in her absence. She apologizes for ‘lashing out,’ saying the last thing she’d want to do is seem ungrateful.
Taranza, of course, tells her it’s fine. He’s just happy she’s back.
…But is she happy?
Morpho Knight was telling the truth— she’s no longer cruel and self-obsessed, however Sectonia has been changed nevertheless. Traumatized and trapped in a body that’s always seeming to shift between two forms she despises, she’s not only crushed by guilt, but left with no idea of who she is anymore.
She… doesn’t deserve to be ‘Joronia’ after everything she did, does she? Taranza insists she does— that it wasn’t her fault, but it does little to convince her. She can’t stand the idea of being ‘Sectonia,’ either, though.
When he asks her what she’d like to be called, she says he can refer to her as whatever he’d like. She doesn’t care.
For the time being, they settle on simply ‘Nia.’ If she can no longer envision herself as Joronia— ‘beautiful spider,’ but also doesn’t wish to be Sectonia— ‘beautiful wasp,’ then…
Well, that works.
Taranza and ‘Nia’ return to Floralia, but aren’t able to stay long. As soon as the denizens realize the totalitarian queen has returned, they riot. She and Taranza are forced to flee to Popstar— more specifically Castle Dedede, leaving behind the only home they’ve ever known.
From there, they settle into a routine of sorts, with Nia attempting to adjust to being alive again and Taranza trying his best to help. This is easier said than done, though. Not only does Nia have the aforementioned identity issues, atrocities committed, and body dysmorphia to deal with, but she’s volatile and prone to lashing out. One moment she’ll be in a panicked rage, and the next she’s started to weep. She tries to remain stable and come across as content in front of Taranza, not wanting to tarnish his happy ending, but even that’s difficult sometimes. She’s very, very confused, frustrated and afraid.
She begins donning a mask at all times— unable to bear looking at the sight of herself regardless of which face she wears.
…Still, it’s not all bad. She starts to get to know the friends Taranza has made in her absence, and while some of them make her feel envious, she’s grateful for their presence.
She’s grateful for his presence as well, trying her best to make amends as they awkwardly attempt to repair their relationship and figure out what exactly it should be now that the dust has settled. Are… are they allowed to love each other now? Should they?
While initially Taranza’s friends are happy for him, the more of them that find out about the sacrifice he made to make this dream come true, the more he’s criticized. He’s told he’s done something self-sacrificial that he can never take back.
He says he’d never want to take it back in response, but they warn him that if Nia learned what he did, she’d be crushed. And not only that, but with the way he sometimes hears her cry at night…
Even he has to wonder if he actually did this for her or for himself.

the capabilities and powers that angels/demons have really confused me, especially with what we're shown in season 2. i feel like in season one it was always pretty clear what the limitations were for their powers, Crowley can do a bit more than Aziraphale can (and we now know why), but there were plenty of things in season 2 that felt like could've possibly been solved through devine or demonic intervention and it felt contrived that they weren't?
more under the cut cuz i went on a bit
i think a lot of these concerns come from the final fight, which honestly feels way too long. why couldn't Aziraphale miracle away the stairs? why couldn't he teleport away? they can teleport people as we saw with Adam (that was Crowley so maybe it's a stronger power). and with that, why did the angels believe the 25 lazarai miracle was to make the humans fall in love? and not even right away?? why could Crowley not miracle the wine bottles back together? seems like reconstruction is an iffy area but all the glass (and wine) were still there. he could've materialized more bottles as well, even if they'd be "fake." the idea of miracle blocking, let alone demons being able to do it, blocking BOTH kinds of miracles, INCLUDING a high rank like Crowley, seems CRAZY op to me.
why didn't they use miracles against the demons? Crowley can make absolutely giant holes in the ground that suck up grave workers, he can BRING A GUY BACK TO LIFE??, but he has to lie about rules of engagement to buy them time to get the humans away? he can stop time/space/individuals/whatever he's doing, why can't he do that to buy them time? you might think oh they're preventing themselves from drawing attention, but he doesn't work for hell anymore so why would he care, and they already have all the attention on them and are being actively attacked by dozens of demons right in front of a group of humans
aziraphale ended up using his halo which is taboo enough to start a holy war and yet he didn't try to do anything magical before that. they can change paintball guns into real guns AND make sure none of the bullets kill anyone purely by "chance" AND not have anyone involved notice they're no longer shooting paint, they can turn children into lizards and back, but they can't protect a bookshop more than just having vampire rules??

I believe Mahiru has Schizophrenia
(Go to third paragraph if you want to skip my prefaces and meandering. I also put a fairly simple to understand DSM-5 criteria screenshot from one of my textbooks for schizophrenia near the bottom)
Admin Saturn here post Mahiru drop, I’m sure others will have either similar or very contrasting thoughts on this but I thought I’d offer my own perspective on it as a psych major and a person with a family member who has schizophrenia. She definitely shows a lot of symptoms of schizophrenia which of course doesn’t necessarily mean this is what they’re intending to portray with her, nor a good portrayal, but I want to put my thoughts out here.
I also want to say that I’m most familiar with schizophrenia and this could very easily fall into a different psychotic disorder I’m less familiar with so I’ll be doing some research into those to either rule out other possibilities or hone in more on a potential schizophrenia portrayal.
Starting with the most basic, she’s near the typical age of onset for schizophrenia in women which is mid 20s to early 30s. (although of course theres a very broad range)
Going on to criteria A. To start there are three ‘main criteria’ that are often the most telling for people with schizophrenia. These include 1. delusions, 2. hallucinations, and 3. disorganized speech. I would say mahiru definitely meets delusions and hallucinations based on this MV.
While auditory hallucinations are the most common, and having fully formed and incredibly all encompassing visual hallucinations like the ones depicted in her MV are very uncommon, milgram depicts very specific and intriguing cases. The fact that all the prisoners hear our voices also makes it difficult to be able to tell if she might experience auditory hallucinations as well, but it’s something I’ll be looking out for.
To say more on delusions (and keep in mind I’m reporting all this in a very simplified version sans context because theres a lot about delusions within psychotic disorders. And also this is just with just a quick refresher from a previous textbook) there are a few kinds. Mahiru would be expressing erotomanic type where you believe a person is madly in love with you and you two were meant to be together. This is most often experienced in relation to celebrities but again, milgram tries to take looks at the most ‘intriguing’ cases.
The other criteria are 4. grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior and 5. negative symptoms. Schizophrenia can be thought of as having negative and positive symptoms. Positive symptoms are things like hallucinations and delusions that add a nonreal experience where negative symptoms reduce a typical experience/self expression. (again, simplified) So some negative symptoms a person could experience would be reduced affect or a lack of pleasure from everyday activities. I don’t see her having any reduced affect but I could definitely see her having grossly disorganized behavior.
Grossly disorganized behavior includes not understanding you have a problem (specifically in a lacking insight way), another thing is cognitive slippage where a person will jump from topic to topic or talk illogically. While we haven’t seen her have these symptoms recently, the deterioration of her notebook entries could be an attempt to show the audience this.
A person must have at least 2 of these 5 symptoms.
She also def meets criteria B (worsened hygiene at the very least which doesn’t even bring in how much these actions likely impacted the other aspects of her life)
I can’t say for sure with C, D, or E, however F I can say has been met.
Something important to note is that it’s hard to tell if Mahiru would meet the criteria of experiencing this for the past 6 months. We don’t know how long she was holding him captive (although I think from the wear it looks like he experienced it was longer than the few days expressed in her journal) but it’s still difficult to know. If she hasn’t, it would be important to look into schizophreniform which is a shorter version of it and brief psychotic disorder which is an even shorter version. These can have a better long term prognosis.
In regards to outcomes that people with schizophrenia can experience long term with treatment vary. Unfortunately, many people never make a full recovery and continue to experience symptoms, especially those who never receive treatment. Schizophrenia is typically considered a chronic disorder. They typically benefit most from a structured inpatient facility with good care and this is a disorder where med compliance is one of the number 1 things that can impact recovery. However, that definitely doesn’t mean they can’t. With med compliance, a good support system as well as coping skills and frequent checkups symptoms can severely lessen to almost disappear. Especially with schizophreniform and brief psychotic disorder, there are a lot of cases where a person can experience one case of it and never have these symptoms again (although it is also a very big risk factor for a later schizophrenia diagnosis)
Another thing to consider going forward in regards to being able to ask her questions would be asking about childhood and family history. Schizophrenia is highly hereditary and there are also some early flags in childhood that include atypical beliefs or some of the negative symptoms.
Tumblr media
From a personal standpoint, I would also say that my family member expresses a lot of floaty whimsical type ideas. Not quite in the Mahiru love way but it has similar vibes? I don’t quite know how to describe it because it’s such a specific mannerism but it’s just another coincidence I thought I would add.
Theres always the availability heuristic and I know a lot about schizophrenia and it’s something I think about a lot more than the average person. However, I do feel that she meets a lot of criteria and I’ll definitely be looking for more signs.

okay so a few people showed interest in a post going further into this topic so here goes.
Hallucination: "A perception-like experience with the clarity and impact of a true perception but without the external stimulation of the relevant sensory organ." This means perceiving something to be there, real in the physical world, when there isn't actually anything in reality causing causing the perception.
these can be:
auditory (hearing things)
visual (seeing things)
olfactory (smelling things)
gustatory (tasting things)
tactile (feeling things on or under skin)
somatic (feeling things further within the body)
Illusion: "A misperception or misinterpretation of a real external stimulus." This means that there is in the real physical world, something causing the perception, but the brain is sending signals that whatever is being perceived is something else. Examples would be seeing an inanimate object as being an animal, hearing wind blowing as human voices, etc.
Both of these are things that many people will experience at least once in their lives, for various reasons. However, if it is causing impairment to functioning/making it harder to go about your life, then it is considered to be a symptom.
sources here are the DSM-V, as well as like, personal experience lol.

Deep Dive Papers: The exceptional diversity of visual adaptations in deep-sea teleost fishes
Tumblr media
(X) | Published: October 2020
Key Findings:
This study investigated the visual adaptations of deep-sea teleost fishes, which inhabit the dark and often extreme conditions of the deep ocean.
It was found that deep-sea teleost's exhibit an exceptionally diverse range of visual adaptations, including modifications to their eyes, retinas, and behaviours.
Many deep-sea teleost's have large eyes with a high density of rod photoreceptors, which are specialized for detecting low levels of light. Some species also have tubular eyes that can rotate, allowing them to scan their surroundings for prey or potential mates.
Deep-sea teleosts also exhibit a range of behavioral adaptations to enhance their vision, such as swimming close to the seafloor or moving their eyes and heads to improve their field of vision.
The study suggests that the diversity of visual adaptations in deep-sea teleost's is likely driven by the challenges of living in the dark and often isolated conditions of the deep ocean, as well as the need to locate prey and avoid predators.
The authors finish the paper on the note that understanding the visual adaptations of deep-sea teleost's is important for conservation efforts, as many species are threatened by overfishing and other human activities such as deep-sea mining.

i think this is a good example of the situation(tm) with spain and fascism and how it's very different to other european countries like italy or germany.
Tumblr media
this news article says that the government pays more than 9000€ per year to mantain franco's tomb (and by the government it means, well, the taxpayers). for those who don't know, francisco franco was a fascist dictator (friend of hitler and mussolini) that ruled spain from 1939 til 1975. he died peacefully. in his bed. after 4 decades of ruling. this is one of the key points regarding all of this.
and you might be thinking... well, the right wing party must be the ruling party for this to happen! lol no. we are currently under a pretty left-leaning government (this will probably change next month btw, there's general elections on april 28th). this is the government who passed the so-called trans law. and, most importantly, this government exhumated franco's body from his monumental funerary monument to a normal cemetery.
this is the monument in question, btw, it's called valle de los caídos (valley of the fallen) and it was built by the people franco sent to concentration camps throughout the country.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and yes, you read that well. franco's body was here until 2019. the monument was visited (and still is visited) by tons of fascists, who would do the nazi salute, fly the francoist flag, and chant francoist chants. all while the police was just there (but that's no surprise, isn't it). now, those people just go to the new location of franco's tomb.
oh, btw, on april 24th 2023 (4 days ago as i'm writing this post) there was another exhumation in the valley of the fallen (i just found out that since 2022 its name officially changed to 'cuelgamuros valley'. sure), this time of josé antonio primo de rivera, son of the dictator of spain from 1923-1930, and founder of the falange española, a fascist organization that became the only political party during the franco regime (yes. this is the equivalent to the nazi party) that btw still exists as a political party. so that's also lovely. this shouldn't come as a surprise, as la legión española, the military faction most closely allied to franco before, during, and after the civil war, still exists and they parade sometimes. you've probably seen these guys, there's a weird thing where people thirst over them on twitter:
Tumblr media
anyways, this all boils down to the continuist nature of fascism in this country. fascist symbols are not banned, and neither is the flag or the hymn. i heard so many times the cara al sol (the francoist anthem) in high school sung by the kids who thought being a fascist was cool. again, franco's body wasn't exhumated until 2019 and with tons of polemics, delays and protests (protests!!!!). primo de rivera's wasn't exhumated until this very year (also with protests). and, meanwhile, there's more than 1000 mass graves still unearthed in spain, most of them filled by republicans who either were killed during the war, or right after it. one of them is the poet federico garcía lorca, considered one of (if not the best) writer in spanish history, and killed for his sexuality in 1936 by francoist soldiers. and, with him, thousands of people have been lost to time. in 2022 (83 years after the war ended) the government opened a 'mass grave searcher' on the ministry website, in order to look if your lost relative had been discovered.
i've talked about this before, but as another example, my great-grand father was unjustly sent to prisioner in 1939 for being a republican. he even spent some years in death row before being released after 5 years. he was officially pardoned by the government in 2017. he died in 1989.
also, something that has been particularly evident during this government, is that fascists are very much alive and have a ton of power. and politicians are either one of them or scared of them. keep in mind that spain has had multiple military and fascist uprisings and coup de états in the 20th century, it's very recent history. that, summed with the terrible job done during the transition period of not divorcing themselves with the francoists or just banning everything to do with them (that 'terrible job' happened because well. there were a lot of fascists there), makes for fascism being painfully present in spain all throughout the 20th and 21st century, so it's always been here, and very obviously so, and that's why it's so fundamentally different from other european regions.
this is what happens when fascists win and fuck up everything. spain is a perfect example of it. i love maps, but everytime i see alternative history maps (and there's a ton of them) that are like 'europe but hitler won ww2' i get the irk because 1) the person making that post is probably a nazi, and 2) that's just what happened in spain. the 'nazis won au' is just 20th century spain. and the consequences of that still ooze to this date. so yeah. that's all i have to say i think.
