tsc thoughts under the cut cause i finished

i literally cannot wrap my thoughts around my overall opinion of it i feel like i absolutely need to reread it first

but also i need to reread tfc because I MISS TFC SO BAD ➡️ girl who reread it last may. i do think i spoke tsc into existence by doing this because i hadn’t looked at the trilogy since 2019 and then all of a sudden i decided to reread and found that unfortunately they still make me batshit crazy. what is in those books.

however i do like tfc better 🤷🏽‍♀️ so if i did reread tfc after this and read tsc again i would just want to read tfc again

this is not fair to say at all because tfc is a whole trilogy and this was only book 1. and i rlly need to start saying aftg instead of tfc cause it’s getting confusing because like i do think tsc is better than tfc (the first book). however i just…like aftg better? i feel like it’s more fun which is probably a weird thing to say considering it’s a lot More than tsc is. and obviously this book was more about jean’s recovery. but more happens in aftg. idk we’ll see tho

i do love jean and the trojans but i miss neil and the foxes every page. i feel like it’s harder to connect to the trojans because there r so many of them. and idk sports so the three coaches is probably normal for a team of this size i really wouldn’t know lol but i couldn’t keep the coaches straight in my head either

point is the foxes r my everything 4ever. i love jean jeremy cat and laila and i see what she was trying to do by introducing the floozy line (cute name) however i dont really have a strong feeling about them because we met them for like 5 minutes

i do love nabil tho why is he not part of the floozy line :(((((

i think cat and laila were absolutely perfect. they’re given a lot of depth especially cat and they’re so important to me. they’re better here than in fanon i think but i feel like fanon did get their personalities and relationship down mostly right. apart from cat not just being called alvarez LMAO bless neil only calling her that and fanon having no choice but to do the same because no one agreed on one single name. i remember sara was one that i saw a lot but i like catalina way way better i love cat <3 i love laila <3 their friendship with jeremy <3

also jean rooming with cat and laila (and then jean) literally perfect omg. no one ever put that in fics but i think it was the best thing to do. sorry for having to compare tsc to fanon im not trying to say one is better than the other at all but what you have to understand is how many fics about jean post tkm are out there and how many of them i read so my mind is going to go there. i wasn’t rlly obsessed with jerejean but i was (and am) a jerejean girl. and i had (have lmao) very high standards for fic so i stand by a lot of those fics WHILE still standing by everything tsc is

by which i mean i cannot get poc jean out of my head thanks to that one fic where he is moroccan. in that same fic jeremy was also spanish and i sort of adopted that into my image of them so i am trying to let go of it but i mean even the hatfords being pakistani still lives in my head despite how unlikely it is. and most of the time i pictured jeremy with golden hair (sometimes curls) so even though i think nora’s compromise being to have naturally brown-haired jeremy bleaching his hair is hilarious and iconic. sort of impossible for me not to picture him with golden hair.

however when jean was all startled and went “blond” when he saw jeremy’s hair. reader i died

english major jeremy is still a gift to me personally

kevin bargaining and arguing for his history major..my baby…the mentions of kevin and kevin’s actual appearances in tsc are everything. the postcards and magnets…kill me

every time neil showed up i lost my mind i love him SO MUCH!!!

see my problem is i wish the foxes showed up more even though it makes no sense for them to. i want kevin jeremy and jean in a room together. i will kill for jean and allison interaction especially if they talk about renee (yes i am holding onto renison still). i want jeremy and cat and matt and dan to hang out. i need laila to meet andrew. i need more renee I LOVE RENEE we did get a good amount of her though i think. she was everything.

genuinely think the way jean and renee was handled here was so perfect. i totally see the merit of it if they end the series together. i also see why jean might end the series without being with anyone romantically. but narratively i cant help but feel jerejean is what makes the most sense. the reason i liked them in the first place is their narrative appeal. and they were genuinely so good in this. so. idk. can’t think about that too much.

i have some problems with the writing like i did with the og series but um the thing is i cannot view these books objectively because they impacted me so much at a young age. i will say i wish tsc could have had a professional editor lol.

i also have some issues with the pacing tho because i did not expect it to end there at all? im so glad she started it where she did but when it ended i was like WAIT WHAT

i have a feeling the reason riko did what he did with the backliners is because he saw jean looking at kevin. could be wrong here but judging from how often jean talks about learning his lesson about looking at guys too long. well.

the main thing for me is that i don’t see how we’re going to get to championships in 2 books if this book only covered till the summer. you could argue exy games arent that important for jean’s story but i do think they are insanely important for jeremy’s story. and if he’s a pov character i want more about him!! that man is keeping his issues locked up (I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THEY R) but we can tell he loves exy and he needs to win his last year

my memory of the extra content is so dim and some of it i have voluntarily chosen to forget or just not consider plus i think some of it will/has changed. but i think i remember reading that trojans win for their last year and i Need that to happen. cause in my head it went: foxes win neil’s first year and trojans win neil’s second year and jeremy’s last year. idc for the rest i want neil to have won championships twice or at least once as captain so that’s what happens in my head.

like i need more about jeremy teaching jean to love exy again and more about jeremy’s apparently complicated family issues with exy???? jeremy let me in.

Hiii I’m Normal about Dr. Iceberg (red flag, I know) but his name being Julian is complete fanon! Idk where it originally came from, but he’s never referred to as Julian Finn in any onsite tale. The only time he’s been named on the wiki, as far as I know, is when he is called Ellis Gill in a tale called “But We Do Not Talk About That”. While last updated in 2022, was originally written in 2015. Why that name never caught on, I don’t know, but I’m kind of glad. Despite Iceberg being a misogynistic piece of shit, I’m intrigued by the fact that so much is unknown about his character.

Giving him a name detracts from the horror of his story, someone who was once a person being filed down and reshaped to fit a role perfectly, only to snap under pressure and take his own life. And then, if you go with the Resurrection canon/the calm tale, he gets brought back as a cyborg (Cyberg?) that blatantly states it doesn’t have a name. He can’t escape the foundation, even in death.

I’ll cut myself off there— If I don’t, I’m liable to write an entire novel in your inbox.

Fun fish fact (since, if I remember correctly, that is the toll for sending an ask): Lampreys have been around for 400 million years, and haven’t evolved much during that time!

The fish facts are not necessary to send me an ask but are MUCH appreciated. The hagfish is the relative of the lamprey and is another old jawless fish. It has two powers: producing LOTS of mucus, and tying itself in knots, both overhand and underhand. I'm gonna have to read more about ciguatoxins. ❤️🐟

Hey, in exchange for the nice ask and the research, here's a snippet I wrote a long time ago about Sophia Light and your guy. (I like him too! I think he's really interesting.) It's set in the Resurrection canon but back in the past, not long after Dr. Light was recruited to the Foundation. (Might end up on the site eventually but I hate to promise. If nothing else, you know, have this.)

Light shows up to her appointments on time. She’s trying out this business of being a person again, really giving it her all, and that’s one of the things she decides: she shows up on time.

She’s at the entrance to Research five minutes before her assignment today. There are other two people there: a pretty woman with waves of black hair in business casual behind the receptionist deck, and a pretty man in a labcoat whose spiky hair is bleached at the tips. They’re flirting.

No, that’s not true. The man is flirting, voraciously, draped over the desk to get closer. The woman is listening, and looks bored, and tired. She catches Light’s eye, and rolls her eyes.

Light recognizes this situation from the before-world. She knows what to do. She squares her shoulders and walks right up to them. With the energy of a woman who realized yesterday that she has permanent institutional access to every academic journal ever, and has not regretted any sleep- or non-sleep-related decisions made since then, she says, “So do you know about sail jellyfish?”

She proceeds to tell the man about them, at length, for five straight minutes. The man is confused and unhappy but apparently transfixed. The woman restrains herself from laughing and drifts back to her computer screen.

“ - So that’s why the asymmetry is actually a fitness advantage,” she says, “So that they react differently to the same wind patterns and they won’t risk washing ashore. But because that’s basically random, the evolutionary pressure maintains a 50-50 balance.”

“Cool beans,” says the man, whose eyes have glazed over. “Hey, I gotta go, I’ve gotta meet up with someone - uh, Dr. Light, I think - ”

“I am Dr. Light,” Light says.

The woman doesn’t bother muffling her guffaw. The man - Dr. Iceberg, presumably - looks uncomfortable and then flustered. Light mentally congratulates herself.

“You two are in the dissection room today, right?” the woman says, checking her computer. “Should be set up. Use the cart to move samples, do not lift large samples yourself, I do not care how strong you are, please and thank you. Decon’s ready, just go through the back. One at a time. Ice, you first.”

“Isn’t it set up for multiple people? There’s all the showers and everything - ”

The secretary shrugs. “New policy. Now get out of my sight, Ice.”

“Always good to see you, Break.” Iceberg shoots finger guns at her, as he heads to the decon room entrance.

“Drop dead,” Break calls after him.

They wait for the sounds of the door opening and closing. Break grins at Light. “Thanks for the spiel,” she says. “You got one of those locked and loaded all the time?”

“Usually you have to ask nicely first,” Light says, automatically, because affected confidence was sort of her go-to before, and it seems to be working for her so far. Then she remembers that the last thing this poor woman needs is someone else ambiguously hitting on her and feels bad. But Break just laughs.

“You know that guy?” Break asks.

“I’ve seen him around, I think? I’m - I’m bad with faces.”

“Yeah. Dr. Iceberg. He’s like that. Been a thorn in my fucking side for years. You know, the Foundation is usually pretty good about this kind of thing, in my experience. But Ice, he’s like, Gears’ special little boy, so he can get away with murder.”

Light is confused. “He’s Gears’ son?”

“No, god no - like, you know, he’s… he’s Gears’. …Doesn’t matter. I thought Ice got better for a while there, but it looks like he’s back on his bullshit.”

“Ugh,” Light agrees.

The bulb over the decon chamber entrance turns green. Break tilts her head at it. “You’re doing, like, an autopsy, right?”

“A necropsy - uh, yeah.”

“Well, that’ll probably bring the mood down, you’ll be fine. He’s not the worst, honestly. But if you need, just say the word ‘Ice’ into the lab comms and I’ll fake an evac drill or something to get you out.”

“Thanks,” says Light. She tries to figure out how serious Break is. Break’s permanent wry plausibly-deniable customer service smile offers no hint.

Maybe Light’s overconfident. Maybe this whole business of being a person again has made her cocky. Perhaps she’s been away from a normal social fabric for so long that she’s lost sense of real implications and rules. But she finds she’s not too worried. “I think it’ll be fine,” she tells Break. “I have a lot more jellyfish facts.”

Break laughs, loudly. “Attagirl.” She waves Light into the decon chamber.

Smash Tier List, Ordered By Which Characters Have Canon Last Names

i decided one fateful friday evening to make this tier list cuz i was bored. shoutout to the smash prose server for helping me iron out any kinks and retrieve some obscure information to help make this tier list reach its fullest potential (discord link for the server on my blog if youre on desktop or in my pinned post on my art account always b pluggin)

below the cut is some extra details on the tiers and character placements.

THIS IS ROUGH AS HELL!!!!! and the research and sources aren't very cut and dry throughout ;w; a tier list i wanted to make for the sillies that ended up going deeper than expected but not all the way, so it's sorta in a weird gray area of reliability. apologies for not-so-clear info in advanced 😔

Official Surname

what it says on the tin. i'd put detailed explanations of where all of them were "confirmed" but i don't know the nitty gritty of a lot of the characters and just know em from official bios. will provide detail if i see fit cuz its my post.

Byleth: "Eisner"

Joker: Civilian name is "Ren Amamiya", from the anime. Akira Kurusu is another civilian name he goes by, coming from the manga, however Amamiya is more common in official media (and kind of canonized in the PC release of Persona 5 Royal, where changing the language to English from something else will default his name to Ren Amamiya)

Kazuya: "Mishima"

Samus (And Zero Suit Samus): "Aran"

Fox: "McCloud"

Falco: "Lombardi"

Wolf: "O'Donnell"

Terry: "Bogard"

Cloud: "Strife"

SImon and Richter: "Belmont"

Donkey and Diddy Kong: So we all pretty much agreed that "Kong" is a family name :P it could be moved to the yellow canon-ish tier but idk

Peach: "Toadstool", which she signs off as in Mario 64 (So that's pretty canon right)

Generally accepted fanon surname (or exists in obscure non-canon media)

these are kinda? surnames. theyre not official like the ones above or acknowledged in the main source material, but they draw from some sort of source that fans run with. usually, it's common for multiple fanworks to use them as last names when dishing them out :P there could be multiple of these for each character. this is where a lot of handy guidance from the prose server came in, thank you very much once again!!

Mario, Dr. Mario, and Luigi: "Mario", from the live action Super Mario Bros. movie (also, "Mario Mario" is the funniest shit ever to me). Also the joke of "hey if theyre the 'mario bros', then is their last name mario?!"

Yoshi: Alright apparently in the 1993 manual for Super Mario World, Yoshi's full name is "T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas". Alright then?? I was going to put Yoshi in the "species" category, but this bit surprised me :P not sure if it's like, a scientific name or something, but I guess this Yoshi is a special case.

Ganondorf: I think in a manual or something like that (Forgive my vague language, this was just something I recalled that the people I worked with agreed with), he is given the last name "Dragmire".

Marth, Chrom, and Lucina: "Lowell" was a last name given to Marth in the Fire Emblem anime. With Chrom and Lucina being direct descendants of him, they also inherit this last name.

Zelda: "Hyrule" is generally assumed to be her last name. I'm pretty sure Zelda's father in BotW is given the official last name, though I know there's some different reincarnation shenanigans going on. Still, no one stopped me 😎 it's a common theme for a lot of "royalty" characters to be assigned a fanon last name named after their respective kingdom (though I may have overlooked some, we'll get to those later).

Ike: "Greil", named after his father. I thought it was kinda dumb for his last name to be ripped from his dad's first name but idk maybe everyone is on a last-name basis for him (I haven't progressed far in Path of Radiance to know).

Sonic: This one surprised me. Apparently in the Archie comics, his full name "Ogolvie Maurice Hedgehog". So his last name is "Hedgehog"? I suppose this means Sonic's full name could also be Sonic The Hedgehog, with "The" being a middle name :P

Captain Falcon: I was going to include this in "canon", but given that it's technically from a manual and other surnames in this tier come from a similar source, so might as well be consistent. In one of the F-Zero manuals, he's given the name "Douglas J. Falcon" (baller ass name tbh). In the anime, he's also given the civilian name "Bart Lemming".

Sephiroth: According to the Prose pals, it could be "Hojo" or "Crescent" depending on who you ask (idk I'll take their word for it. Yeah sorry this isn't a very thorough list in terms of research and sources).

Ryu: Another Prose pal said that one of the movies gave him the last name "Hoshi".

Bowser and Bowser Jr.: Heard "Koopa" tossed around, given Bowser is the king of Koopas and Jr. is his son.

Mega Man: "Light", after his creator Dr. Light.

Roy: "Pherae", after him being the son of Marquess Pherae.

King K. Rool: I think I assumed "Rool" could be his last name, and the K. is an initialized first name. Heavily based on my own guess tho.

No Canon Surname

Yeah. Though some are Weird and probably misassigned.

Snake I could have sworn had some kind of fanon surname, but I drew up a blank when consulting with the Prose server :P any hardcore Metal Gear fans can swoop in and correct me though.

Corrin and Daisy are kinda... weird to me cuz I assumed they would operate on similar logic to Zelda, being named after their respective kingdoms ("Valla" and "Sarasaland"). But I've never seen those used in practice so it's probably negligible. They bounced between tiers a lot while I made this.

I suppose Dragon Quest 11 Hero could fall in the "kingdom last name" category but idk I'm still internally debating with Corrin and Daisy. Didn't do any research on the other Heroes and no one seemed to stop me. So sorry!! 😭

The only other thing I have to say about this tier is that I'm surprised Bayonetta, Shulk, Olimar, Alph, and Sora didn't have any note-worthy last names to speak of. Unless something slipped through the cracks!

Idk if Sheik would adopt Zelda's assumed last name which is why they are in this tier.

Title, no canon name

Pretty much a title given to the character, be it related to their occupation or status.

This was originally a "no canon first name lmao" tier, but I changed it to be more broad at the request of the Discord buddies to include weird edge cases like Dark Samus (who isn't really a species, but not really a person?) and Duck Hunt (who accounts for three separate entities in one lol so that kind of confused me, but a tier like this worked for him).

Species????

Pretty much a character that comes from a species of many, meaning they don't really have an actual name to begin with (Inklings technically count, since it's not like "Inkling" refers to status or occupation). Yes, I included R.O.B. there due to Subspace Emissary's lore :) one could argue that's not canon, but be fr does R.O.B. have any existing lore to work with? Brawl essentially made him its own OC for the story campaign and that's amazing. Anyway, unnecessary rant aside, R.O.B. is a species in my book, and he's the last of his kind (another detail originating from Smash).

Last two tiers are kind of joke tiers I came up with as the idea for this list cooked up in my brain. One could argue "Mr. Game and Watch" is a title, but I thought his own dedicated tier was funnier so I kept it intact :P

👀👀👀👀👀👀 okay okay so I'll do one for now skdkd I can talk about the other ones another time

They're from the game genshin impact, it's a mobile/PC game that's similar to things like botw, it's an open world rpg. But it's also a gacha game

First there's Diluc he's my favourite.

Let's not look at his in game model....

In the game there are 7 regions in the world of teyvat. The first being mondstadt the city or music and freedom. They worship the anemo archon but he's been absent for years in order to not push his own ideals of freedom "what's freedom demanded of you from an archon?"

So diluc is from mondstadt. He is one of the richest men of teyvat. Running the mondstadt wine industry. He owns and runs the dawn winery, and angels share the tavern in mondstadt.

In this world when an archon recomizes you Ig you would say or they acknowledge your ambition they are gifted what's called a vision. A small glass orb that allows the user to control one of the 7 elements (anemo,geo,electro,dendro,hydro, pyro or cryo)

When diluc was 10 he received a pyro vision. At age 13 he became mondstadts youngest cavalry captain. He becomes a knight to make his father proud, who never received a vision and didn't make it to the knights because of that.

He has an adopted brother named Kaeya. They found him in the woods during some rainy night and adopted him

My other beloved blorbo. They're called the ragbros because dilucs last name is ragnvindr. Kaeya idk if he ever used that but after some lore stuff it's Alberich

Their lore together is so ajsjjajs they make me ill

Everything is like all cool until dilucs 18th birthday when he has to escort his father on this mission for the knights. Uh so halfway through they're stopped by this creature called ursa the drake and it's kinda like this big dragon. It kills all the other knights that were with him on that missions and he tries to fight it off and get his father to safety but he is knocked back.

His father randomly pulls out this delusion which is like a vision but it's man made, and made of dead god remains. It usually kills the user, ages faster, takes from their life force or other unknown side effects

He uses it and it like insta kills but him the drake is gone woo ajsjs uh oh

Kaeya arrives as back up with other knights but it's just took late. It's implied in the game diluc mercy kills his dad to stop him from being in so much pain but in the manga he just kinda disolves???

Kaeya actually feels really relived that his adopted dad died because kaeya lore. He was sent as a spy by his birth father. There's this other nation we're told about called Khaenri'ah. Which was a nation with no archon. It was like the peak of humanity but Celestia (even higher up to the archons) was like nuh uh tkk dangerous look at those machines they're making. And sent the gods to destroy the whole nation. That was 500 years ago. How kaeya is from there is a mystery but he's sent to mond and left by the winery on that rainy night to be a 'spy' according to him anyway. His father told him that he was their 'last hope'

So dilucs had this terrible birthday and kaeya goes to talk to him because he feels so guilty about how relieved he was that their father died. Even if it was for a brief moment and decides to come clean about his past.

This part is very much up to interpretation because their stories don't say much. But they end up fighting. Diluc using his vision. The fanon verisons is he relases this massive fire bird which is his burst in the game towards kaeya. And that moment kaeya receive a vision. Making a sheild around him causing this elemental reaction.

You unlock kaeya sheild at c4 (you get 4 extra copies of him. gacha game moment skdkd)

Some point in the fight diluc injuries his eye covered by the eye patch. Giving him a scar. through this one event we find that he's not blind there and his voice lines say he can see perfectly fine out of it.

But he was wearing an eye patch for no reason before this. Maybe for fun?? Maybe for lore who knows. He won't tell us his lore skdkd not yet at least

They end up fighting. Next day diluc is back at the knights because they're investigating his father's death. One of them who turned out to be a traitor from the fatui (this massive army from one of the nations sneznhaya) he's like yo actually we're gonna cover this up because it's gonna make us look bad if the knights didn't fight but this rich winery owner who has no powers did. Diluc is like fuck this I'm leaving. Leaves his vision and a week later leaves mondstadt.

He decides he gonna go on a killing spree taking on the delusion that killed his father. He disappears for 4 years. Ends up in sneznhaya. Meets some harbingers almost gets killed but saved but this random organization. He joins the organization and ends up being really high ranking too and then returns to mond to run the winery. With apperently no side effects from the delusion???? Hoyo please tell us what happened. Literally the game tells you about the side effects of delusions and how bad they are yet he uses it for 4 years and nothing happens???? What are you hiding

Hes no longer a knight but he still wants to protect people so he becomes a vigilante. People in mond somehow don't know it's him but they call him the dark knight hero

Girl is not even hiding his BRIGHT RED hair. Yeah so that's him.

Personality wise as a kid he was this bright and happy person

As an adult after all that trauma he really keeps to himself. He seems very lonely tbh. Described by kaeya as in his own world all the time. Less happy, seen as grumpy and never smiles :(( he still mischievous in his story quests and is so kind.

Ouyghhhh and you see he still deeply cares about mond in his own way. His relationship with his brother is strained and a whole other thing but he still cares about him :((

I think a big reason I used to dislike dream was because he reminded me a lot of cryaotic with the “brand” and everything. The only time I’d ever heard of dream before I got into dsmp was from cry actually. On a stream a bit before the whole thing came out about him, he joked about how similar their stuff was to each other minus what they were known for.

So for a good year or so that was all the knowledge I had of dream and I was very happy to avoid him if he was anything like cry. Then I got into the dsmp lore around October last year and it’s history now. I’m pretty sure I only started to hear actual negative things about him once I joined the fandom surprisingly, and that affected a lot of my viewpoint of him before I decided to give him a shot in like December I think.

Idk i know I’m not the only who’s probably had this experience, but as far as hating on Dream goes, I feel like people who saw the situation play out have a right to be wary when all they hear about him from the outside is how shitty he is y’know? Even the people that used to be involved with cry content wise don’t have the best opinion of him.

i never watched cry myself, but back when i was into some let's players circa 2013 i was definitely aware of his name. i had friends in those fandoms who watched him, and we stayed mutuals throughout the years, so i witnessed the fallout when everything blew up. i don't think i knew who dream was when the cry situation came to light, so i wasn't even aware of the similarities until much later. i definitely had a period of thinking that dream ought to change his branding if it so closely mirrored that of a known abuser, but at the time i didn't realise that dream made those choices before cry got outed, which lessened some of my discomfort

i do think some of the decisions dream made regarding his handle & look (ik the mask was a fanon design, not his) might have been deliberate parallels, but i also don't blame him for trying to sweep that under the rug now. it's not like the branding was created when cry's reputation was in the gutter - that would come later - so i can see why dream would want to pretend like he had little idea of who cry was at all, so as to shake those associations regardless

it can't be easy to make these subtle references to a big popular gamer in your branding, only for that gamer to be outed as a despicable human RIGHT as you're cresting that wave to stardom. i can only assume it would've put dream in an extremely awkward position - either change your whole look right as you're getting huge, or distance yourself from that situation as much as possible and feign ignorance. was it necessarily the best choice? i can't really say. suffice to say that more people will now think of dream before cry when they see the url suffix 'wastaken' or a little blank faced sprite, so dream has effectively overwritten some of those negative associations. which, i suppose, has its pros & cons as well

ultimately, i agree that it's fair that people who were more aware of (or involved in) the cry scandal would be wary of dream, as outsiders looking in. their opinions might still change if they were to give dream a chance, but i do sympathise with that kneejerk discomfort. what cry did was horrid, and it can't be easy to see someone else going around with similar branding - especially with such a huge, young audience. i would still encourage people to get informed about dream's actual nature in hopes of easing those concerns, but that's one group whose distrust i understand more than others

(however, i don't think most of the people who hate dream feel that way cos of cry - that's just something they find out about and then use as fodder for their distaste. that's the sort of thing i have more of a problem with myself lmao)

So I recently went a little... Red-string-cork-board-wild for a very minuscule reason. Namely, I wanted to try and figure out if there was any evidence to back up the fanon of whether or not Graham Folger & Oliver Banks had ever been in a relationship for... Reasons.

To start with, I decided to relisten to MAG 003 just for a lil refresher on who the hell Graham even was (emphasis on the was, lmao). Now, the statement was first catalogued in 2007, but the actual events of the statement take place on 2005; first possible hole in the theory, because, in MAG 011, Oliver, under the alias of Antonio Blake, states that his relationship with "Graham" ended 8 years previous to when he gave his statement to the Magnus Institute, which was given in 2015; which means Oliver's relationship would've ended in 2007.

Why do I point this out though?

Mostly because during MAG 003, when Amy Patel has to chill in Graham Folger's flat due to being concussed, and in an attempt to reassure her, all Graham Folger says is "no worries, I'm gay ✌️" which, okay, that's reassuring, sure... But wouldn't it have been more reassuring to say, "Not only am I hella gay, but I'm also seeing someone." Now, sure, maybe because this is '05 and they don't really know each other that well, he probably thought that would be a little TMI, but then again I feel like "oh I'm seeing someone" is significantly less TMI then just flat-out coming out to someone. Either way, later Amy spends essentially weeks or months watching this dude, and he's always. Alone.

And when she described Graham Folger's flat, it didn't sound like a place TWO (2) people were sharing, it barely sounded like there was one person living there. (And Oliver mentions that he'd been in a SIX (6) YEAR relationship, with a shared living space). A little sus, but... Amy does also say that Mr. Folger spends an awful lot of time outside of his apartment so... Double life maybe? Perhaps.

But now let's take a long look at MAG 011, where Oliver, or Antonio if that's easier for anyone? Nah, let's keep it as Oliver— anyways, MAG 011 takes place in 2015, 8 years prior is 2007; but then.. 6 years prior to that, when Oliver's relationship with "Graham" would’ve started... That would've been in 2001 🤔 now why does that particular year ring a bell? Well, that's because in 2001 is when Graham Folger's parents passed away; which would MEAN THAT, if these two had ever dated, then either it would've been just after Graham Folger had lost his parents, OR, the accident would have happened during the start of their relationship. And I do hear that stuff like that either makes or breaks a relationship, so; hey, maybe they would've had problems from the start. Doomed to end before it began, y'know.

But this is what actually made me go back and relisten in MAG 003, again; because I wasn't 100% on that because for whatever reason I had the year 2003 stuck in my head, IDK. Anyways, it was while I was relistening to MAG 003, again, that I realized my timeline... Wasn't entirely correct. Because Amy Patel, yes she first met Graham Folger in 2005; but it was in September 2005; and the real meat of the statement doesn't start until about 4 months after that initial encounter— which means Amy would've started Graham-watching in Dec. 2005 or Jan. 2006.

You know what else I found rather interesting? In the closing comments for this statement that the Archivist gives us, the apartment under Graham Folger's name was sold in... Early 2007. I wonder... How closely that might actually line up with whenever Oliver Banks apparently ended his relationship with "Graham".

But let's loop back to the "Dec. 2005 or Jan. 2006" bit, because in the supposed timeline given to us in Oliver's statement (MAG 011), he and his "Graham" started having issues a year prior to the official break-up. Maybe that's why Amy never would've seen Graham Folger's partner, in the assumption that he had one, because they was havin' issues, so if Graham Folger had a partner, maybe they weren't hanging about too much.

Alternatively, maybe the real kicker, the Real end to this, alleged, relationship, was because things just started being Different around the start of 2006; say maybe around April? April 7th of 2006 if we want to get real specific. Maybe it was after that day that the relationship got just a bit too much.

Maybe, in the last year of this alleged relationship between Oliver Banks and Graham Folger, maybe Oliver tried to make things work, but there was just something so off about "Graham" so... Not-him, and yet this is still the man that Oliver looks at and remembers spending almost 6 years of his life with. But maybe things get just weird enough that, Oliver just does some digging, maybe he's looking for some excuse some reason for why Graham seems so different but so familiar. Maybe there was an update on the accident that happened (either before or after they got together) and it's having an affect on "Graham". Let's say he does this little research deep-dive while at work too. So he's just sitting at his desk, scrolling through old news, etc. etc, maybe checking new stuff, who knows. (And assuming that even digital scans of polaroids are also untampered) He comes across an old picture that, sure enough those are the Folger Parents, but who the hell is that dark haired teenager in the picture?

Now why would this be happening why Oliver is at work? Well, because in MAG 011, Oliver states that he had a breakdown at work that required him to take leave and supposedly helped to fuel his breakup which then left him on a friend's couch. Obviously it could actually be the other way around; that the break-up was the catalyst for the breakdown at work, but this is no longer a post about why Graham Folger and Oliver Banks weren't a thing, but rather a post on why it would hurt so much if they had been.

Because we're gonna switch gears now and take a peek from Not-Graham's perspective. Because what does Not-Graham, the Not-Them, want? Well, we know they like scaring and upsetting people, but Graham Folger isn't exactly a socialite and apparently didn't have enough of an outstanding presence that made him particularly rememberable. But you know what he did have? The table. The same table that the Not-Them really wanted to have smashed up in... MAG 039, I think (IDK main plot is just an entrée for me right now, not super important y'know). So, sure Graham Folger doesn't have a lot of people in his life, but he's got this partner that he was already having a rocky relationship with, so why not make that relationship even more unbearable on the other party? Just make it absolutely intolerable, in the hopes that the partner might just get fed up enough to do something irrational, like smash a table that apparently means just so, so much to "Graham". But in the end that doesn't work, because the partner just ends up dippin' out (side note: love the idea that Oliver is petty in the way that instead of destroying something that he knows his partner is fond of, he just like, sells the fucking table off instead, send the Not-Them on another wild goose chase to find it again, because that would be funny as fuck).

Regardless, around the beginning of 2007, the two will have broken up, and Not-Graham no longer has a reason to keep that flat so it gets sold, because the Not-Them either has the table and fucks off after that, or they gotta start all over again trying to find it, and Oliver cuts ties and starts crashing on a friend's couch.

It's circumstantial, sure. But when you really look at it... The timeline does actually match up pretty well, and I think that's pretty cool.

Anyways, that's all for now. Whether or not Graham Folger & Oliver Banks ever actually had a relationship in canon, who can say.

blue i like blue but it did take a bit of growing on me djjdjhjss. i like her a lot bc i relate to her a lot, but i do think there was a lot of room for improvement. she said she wanted to see the world and make it better but how exactly.. is that a roadtrip? i mean i guess it’s a start in a way, but i think it would’ve been much better if we saw her join an activist organization.. volunteer for a non-profit or something. Also her misguided feminism ah! But I can be a bit more lenient with that bc she was still very young when the series ended so. Also she was revealed to be part tree and then like. Nothing substantial came of it? idk

Ganseyboy! I have to be honest my.. fave uwu. There is a Lot of room for improvement but I just. Optimist!! insecurities :( also he KNEW he was gonna d*e I’m. sad. RONAN O CLOCK to be honest. I. don’t have any meta or complaints I just love him. I love him a LOT okay.. very much. Big love. Sharp edges tough guy but he names his dream animals chainsaw and gasoline and has a pooping blanket for chainsaw… I can’t remember the quote but that but in cdth where he was like the point is dreamer or not if people are going to get hurt I’m going to stop it… Much to think about. Henry. Ah. This is where we get kind of controversial jdhjdfh I’m sorry but. I’m going to be honest I like him well enough as a character but I don’t care for him much I’m sorry I just. It’s because he was introduced so late. And only became an important character towards like.. the last half of TRK? I mean, I’d have loved him if he was introduced earlier, hell at least have him come into play in BLLB. The issues I have with him isn’t because of anything about him as a character though, I think it’s all about the way he was handled. I think because he came in so late, there just wasn’t enough time to do justice to the depth that he had, or give him an arc or anything, or enough time to connect with him. Also a part of me feels like he was in there just to kind of tie up Blue and Gansey’s stories and give them something to do after the end of TRK (which sucks because like… making your only canon POC being primarily to develop/give your white characters storylines… (blue isn’t white in my mind but like she was written “colorblind” and when that happens it usually means the author viewed them as white at least in the beginning jhfhgfj. but i don’t remember it too well so if i’m wrong lmk please!)). But probably my biggest problem is: I couldn’t help get the vibe that MS was facing criticism for the lack of diversity and so decided to bring in an asian character. Like, I feel that way bc he came in so late, and because of that he was so half-baked I’m.. gah. GAH. That’s unfair maybe henry is a cool dude hdhfg but I just can’t warm up to him because of this :/

Kissed noah while dating him. And didn’t even think for a second “I have a bf” :( not very cool of her to tell gansey about the kiss curse but not telling adam which I mean, I know that happened to show that they weren’t a good match but. Still yikes. Blue was lowkey cheating on adam the whole time during tdt huh :( also bro I am number one stan of the “I wish you could be kissed jane” scene but it happened literally RIGHT AFTER she broke up with adam I’m. relax <3. I wish that was kind of addressed but meh, overall it doesn’t bother me too much. I think they’re great friends :)

Ronan and adam… I can’t talk about it too much. I really can’t!! I really really can’t! the fact that adam goes to gansey like what is love and gansey is like she makes me quiet… and then adam is like “he was so still inside”.. :( omg the bit during trb when ronan is going on a swearing tirade and adam is like “they didn’t start making the civic until ‘73 <3” what a JACKASS I love him. Second secret!! --okay! Wait I have to say: while this one is not really a big deal compared to all their other moments, my favourite quote is “ and he realised that while he’d been looking at ronan, ronan had been looking at him” :uwu face:

ADAM AND GANSEY I been WAITNG for this one! Turn it up! Or maybe it’s because idk I remember ms saying she had a lot of issues while writing trk.. but still. We could have really had it all but instead I have to live with “don’t break him adam” I’m (: ok but now I must lighten the mood hjsdhf so might I add: when one of them sees the principal in his crazy funky junky hat and goes “yee haw”… when gansey is like :DDD hey ADAM guess WHAT and adam is like ? and gansey is like oh it was a fully casual problem with the ALTERNATOR of my car of COURSE it was the alternator, it was really simple and I fixed it with much ease :D and adam is like :’D felt like the had hatched a baby bird.. my uwus. ADAM! give me an idea! ALSO if anyone will allow me to venture into adansey territory…. the fact that adam is cabeswater’s magician and gansey now.. is cabeswater in a way. MUCH to think about. I still spend a lot of time thinking about the dryad au the problem is I have never been to progress past the “vague concept” stage of stories and this is why I don’t write dhfjhfdhf. But yes. I think about it often :3

So.

About that whole “Dick only met Jason once when he was Robin and its when they ended up busting up a drug lab together and Dick gave Jason his costume and phone number to call him but never spent any time with Jason other than that on panel, before Jay died” thing.....

Its not like....true. Because the issue in question is Batman #416....BUT, the thing that EVERYBODY I’ve ever seen reference this issue leaves out (and I just reread it myself this week lol)....is that the entire issue is a FLASHBACK issue. It opens with the caption: One Year Ago.

People refer to Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis continuities a lot, but the retcon of Jason’s origin didn’t actually happen DURING the original Crisis on Infinite Earths. It happened at least a year or two after. And not long before his death at all. Jason’s rebooted origin story was told in Batman #412. Dick met him for the first time in Batman #416. Then there were a couple other issues, then the Felipe Garzonas storyline and its aftermath, and then Death in the Family, in Batman #427 or #428, I forget which. But point is, alllllllll the stuff in fanfics about how Dick resented Jason and was a jerk to him at first and took out his issues with Bruce on Jason when Jason was Robin......there’s at best like, TWO pages in the opening of issue #416 that could be described that way, but other than that, its complete fanon. It didn’t happen that way and it literally couldn’t have, because there was no TIME between #412 and #427 for any of that to occur.

And before Jason’s origin was rebooted, he was like, even closer to Dick than to Bruce at times. In what’s commonly called “Pre-Crisis continuity,” that’s when Dick decided all on his own, without any prompting from Bruce, to give up being Robin and to become Nightwing....and in this version of events, DICK gave Robin to Jason personally. HE made the choice to pass on the mantle. So again, there was like, ZERO resentment or being a jerk to Jason about the Robin mantle, because it was Dick’s gift to him, not Bruce’s choice. Any reference in stories to Dick voluntarily giving up being Robin and ‘not using the name anymore’ without referring to later retcons like Bruce firing Dick because of the Joker shooting him or because he was away from Gotham too much like in NW: YO....like, it kinda sucks to pair that version of events with this fanon myth about him hating Jason because Bruce gave Robin to Jason when Dick was no longer using it, because like....that NEVER happened anywhere! Its the complete opposite of canon. In that version, there was NO bad blood between even Bruce and Dick.

And this is the continuity that was in place still when Jason teamed up with the Titans for two story arcs, first in a mission that brought them up against Cheshire, and then to help actually rescue Dick himself from the Church of Blood...at the end of which, when Dick was freed, we see him and Jason being pretty familiar with each other, and Dick being extremely proud of Jason and complimentary towards him, and zero resentment on Jason’s part towards Dick or for being compared to Dick in the previous arc. (Which did happen, with some of the Titans, but Jason wasn’t resentful there either...he basically just stood up for himself, called them out on it and said look, I’m not Dick so stop looking at me like I am and tell me what *I* can do. Also, the Titans NEVER were shown resenting or being distant towards Jason on Dick’s behalf or whatever).

But here’s the thing that makes me say that even with Jason’s rebooted origin, he and Dick still met way more than people presume.

Its because those stories, where Jason teams up with the Titans (and numerous encounters before it, like Dick stopping by the Batcave after returning from Tamaran and Jason being envious-but-mostly-just-in-an-excited-way about how Dick got to go to another world).....like...those stories are STILL canon.

Because those are the stories Jason’s referencing when he fights Tim in Titans Tower as the Red Hood, remarking that he was a Titan once too.

So Jason’s rebooted origin story, and Batman #416 only ever actually replaced how Jason came to be Robin and when Dick first met him. And later in Nightwing: Year One, when all that was retconned again....once again, its just how Dick got fired and Jason came to be Robin and their first meeting...those are the only stories actually EXPLICITLY altered by the retcons.

But in order for Jason to have ever been a Titan, even an honorary one, like he tells Tim when they first fight.....all those other encounters between Jason and Dick ARE STILL CANON. Talking pre-Flashpoint here, of course. New Earth continuity.

And in those stories? Dick adored Jason. He did not hate him, or resent him, or begrudge him for being Robin. Jason was his little brother and Dick was proud of him and grieved for him when he died, beat the Joker to death with his fists when he mocked Jason’s death, hallucinated Jason-as-Robin once as a COMFORTING presence during a near death experience, and got drunk while looking through old photos that included a skiing trip he and Jason took at one point that we never saw on panel anywhere else.

But yeah....whether you go with NW: Year One OR Batman #416 as Dick and Jason’s first encounter...either way, it was NOT their last or only encounter before Jason died, and they were closer than anyone usually credits them with being (and which is also supported by the OYL story where Jason goes to NY and when he leaves, sends Dick the note saying he still sees them as family). Both Dick and Jason have their issues with Bruce, and they’re each tangled up in each other’s issues....Dick resents Bruce adopting Jason and not him at that point in canon, being replaced and his mother’s nickname for him given away, Jason resents Bruce comparing him to Dick or using him as an emotional substitute or replacement for Dick....BUT before Morrison’s.....crap....there really was no evidence of them taking those issues out on each other, and plenty of evidence that they actually did care for each other a great deal.

No, we never saw them being as close as Dick and Tim were when he was Robin, but I hate how people take it for granted that’s because Dick was trying harder because he learned his lesson from not being there as much as ‘he should have’ for Jason. Its like....it also has a lot to do with the fact that in the 80s, Dick and Jason only appeared in Teen Titans and Batman. There WAS no Nightwing solo comic then, and no Robin solo comic. They were never shown bonding as much as Dick and Tim because like...there was nowhere to put that. Titans was an ensemble book with up to a dozen team members at some points, and Dick’s story time was usually devoted towards examining his relationships with his teammates. And Batman was Bruce’s comic, Jason appeared in the context of his own relationship with Bruce, it simply wasn’t the venue to explore Jason’s solo encounters with Dick as a regular kind of thing.

Idk, it just really frustrates me that people have created this complex fanon storyline where Dick definitely was a jerk to Jason before his death and that’s why things are messed up between them, but at the same time seems to take it as fact that like....there was no possibility that Dick and Jason hung out offpanel more than we saw, after Batman #416/NW:YO. Like, things are messed up between Dick and Jason because DC likes it that way. Not because its the only logical conclusion of canon stories where they always had issues and friction and nothing in common....because like, that simply isn’t how those stories went.

2. A songfic featuring Aubrey by Bread, studying Arthur and Eames and what their relationship might have been like before the Fischer job. The characters aren't going to resemble fanon (Arthur's closed-off persona and Eames's flirtiness). I'm going to try to expand more on what Nolan gave us during the movie (Arthur's straightforwardness and Eames's aloof/cold personality). Basically, Eames is distant and Arthur chases.

3. A fic about arthur and eames and their first meeting in the military to all their other meetings in the criminal underworld of dreamshare. not that long, i'm aiming for 2.5k or maybe 3k if i can. i wanted to focus on their totems and how eames could use forging as a totem (because if he can't forge then he must be awake, right?) but he has a totem just in case. and arthur has a totem (the die from the movie) that he uses a lot more except when he happens to be taken and tortured for some secret or another and the only thing that convinces his brain that he isn't dreaming is the way eames stands when arthur aims a gun at him? if that makes sense....

here's a little bit of what i have written so far:

he’s more surprised at the lack of surprise he feels when eames digs a poker chip out of his desk. its blood red with gold and white accents, worth five thousand dollars at the particular casino it came from, disregarding the fact that it was arthur’s shitty first and last attempt at a real world forge after he participated in a poker game eames held on base many years ago and realized half the chips in the set were fake, pocketing a one thousand dollar chip to use as a reference.

“our totems match,” eames murmurs, flipping the chip over his knuckles with a concentration a bit too intense for something he could do in his sleep (ha).

“match how?” he asks, sipping a glass of orange juice, freshly squeezed because eames wanted to use the electric juicer. he's tempted to pull out his die from his pocket and roll to see it land on five, even though he knows this isn’t a dream.

“i have something that you made, and you have something i made. also, there’s some significance with the number five.”

4. When dreamshare is first developed, no one has totems. They've always gone into dreams for short amounts of time and always with another person, so there's no chance of someone forgetting their reality. Mal's friend Pip has consistently been pushing the boundaries of dreaming, and one day she decides to go a later deeper without Mal. When Mal wakes up, she realizes that Pip is still asleep and she has to go down after her where she basically incepts Pip with the idea of totems.

5. There was a small lake behind Arthur's house. The following night, he sat at its edge and stared at the moon's reflection in the water.

Arthur turned. A man was sitting next to him.

"Hello," Arthur said. "Thank you for helping me get home last night."

The moon smiled. "How did you know it was me?"

Arthur rolled his eyes. He picked up a pebble and tossed it into the water, watching the waves ripple the reflection. "How can you be here and there at the same time?"

The moon leaned back on his elbows and stared up at the sky. "Same way I can be in the lake and the sky at the same time."

Arthur frowned. "That's not the same thing. The lake's just reflecting the light from the moon. From you."

The moon turned to smile brightly at him. "Well aren't you a smart one, hm?" He leaned in and whispered, "I'm a reflection, too. We all are, at the end of the day."

Arthur thought about that. It didn't make sense, but that didn't mean it was wrong. He looked up at the moon in the sky, then at the moon sitting next to him.

"My name's Arthur," he offered. "What's your name?"

The moon looked at him strangely. "Eames. You can call me Eames."

"I'm going to be an astronaut, Eames," Arthur said. "Then I can come and visit you in the sky."

Eames smiled again. Arthur wouldn't have thought the moon liked to smile. "I would like that very much," Eames said. "Very much, indeed."

11. Haunted House AU. Arthur’s working at a popular horror maze escape place to make some extra money over the summer. It’s far from his dream job—making minimum wage crouching behind dark trap doors and chasing random couples and tourists—but at least he gets to vent his frustrations about his coworkers (who are, frankly, driving him insane day by day) by literally screaming at customers. Then there’s Eames, who finds haunted houses boring, overrated, and not the least bit frightening, but is willing to humor a friend (Ariadne?) by accompanying her. But an encounter (and some painfully obvious flirting) with the cute guy under the ghoul mask is enough to make him want to come back again, and again, and again—

FEATURING:

- Cobb as the owner/boss and the only guy who actually takes his job seriously. He probably squints a lot because sunlight genuinely hurts his eyes lmao - Mal as his wife, who used to be an actress but left to start a business with Dom. Super sweet and kind of protective of their employees. Plays the main ghost. She’s terrifying. - Yusuf doing their costumes and makeup!!!!

- Arthur getting the job in the first place because his screams are so full of rage (let! him! rest!)

- Eames blowing all his cash on haunted house admission fees so he can flirt with Arthur (who plays different roles on different days, maybe? but Eames can always recognize him, even under the masks/makeup)

- he’s not trying to be creepy, he just wants to ask if he can see him outside of work/get his number—but something always goes wrong before he can

- Arthur being frustrated because Eames is a) distracting, and b) not easily scared, which doesn’t look good for his job. And it annoys him because he has a track record of being able to freak out anyone. He takes it upon himself to make him scream at least once (I haven’t decided how he does, but he does, eventually. Eames probably jokes about screaming with something other than fear, but i am too babey to write any sexytimes)

- maybe??? mild h/c?? Dumbass Drunk College Students coming in all wanting to prove to their friends that they're the Alpha Male, picking a fight and being super violent/rowdy/destructive, + arthur getting hurt/generally kind of shaken up; that’s the first night he lets eames really talk to him outside of the job, maybe even lets him take him home (i dont know if im including this scene for sure but..perhaps)

- Ariadne getting them banned from the haunted house after reflexively slapping Arthur in the face with a rubber snake (Cobb takes the ‘no touching the actors’ rule seriously—especially after what happened^). Eames thinks he’s lost his chance for good, but Arthur finds him outside and finally makes the first move :)

12. Arthur is in love with Eames, and he's pretty sure Eames is at least interested in him back. Only problem? Arthur is ace, and not at all sure how Eames is going to react to that. But Arthur's going to talk to him about it, because the alternative is to lose even his friendship with the forger, and that's just not on.

Only the team is also determined to set the two of them up. Will that end up being a wrecking ball to Arthur's fragile attempts at making things work with Eames?

STORY OUTLINE:

Arthur is ace, and no one knows. When Eames invites Arthur to join him for Christmas, Arthur panics and says no - and spends the whole of Christmas regretting it. The team comes back from Christmas break, and everything is awkward. Arthur knows he has to say something or ruin his relationship with Eames forever, and he's going to do that at the New Year's party where Eames will hopefully be in a good enough

But unbeknownst to him, he's not the only one who's realized something needs to happen. Cobb, Ariadne and Yusuf agree that an intervention is in order. And when better to set their two friends up than at New Years? Get them kissing and surely the tension between them will resolve itself.

What could possibly go wrong?

At the New Year's party, Ariadne suggests playing a game of spin the bottle. Arthur is less than enthused, but Cobb and Yusuf both back up the idea. They play a few rounds before it lands on Eames, whom Ariadne dares to make out with Arthur.

There's an awkward beat before Eames moves to do it. Arthur reacts by freezing and shying away physically. Eames takes this a rejection and leaves the room. Arthur sits there, frozen, and then leaves too.

He goes to the bathroom and breaks down, blaming himself for being so stupid and backwards. Eames hears him, and comes in and comforts him. Once Eames realizes what the problem is - that Arthur is ace - he promises Arthur that it doesn't matter to him, he just wants to be close to him. Cue happy end credits.

14. Arthur has a goldfish which, long story short, he has convinced himself he only needs to keep alive to prove he is not a hot mess. Except now it’s not looking so good and has a weird sore on its side and he doesn’t know what to do but he can’t just let it DIE. So he takes it to the vet and is scoffed at and told it is a feeder goldfish, they cost less than a dollar, just get a new one.

Two vets later and he’s at the end of his rope when he meets Dr Eames, whose dog is introduced as his PA and goes on all his rounds with him. Dr Eames doesn’t even question it, just starts the exam and tells Arthur to pet the dog and start at the beginning while he works.

Arthur agrees surprisingly easily and sex is great, but afterwards Arthur doesn't seem happy and Eames' crush is worse than ever. The more Eames tries to get rid of his crush, the more it sticks, and the less Arthur is talking to him. After the job, Eames has some time to think and he realises that maybe neither of them really wanted for him to get over Arthur. He goes to see Arthur to talk to him about it, but they end up kissing and stuff as well.

(normally i’d go right to modern AU but i feel like because of lifespans, modern AUs fall apart with the silm unless you’re going very small-scale with them)

Favourite crack pairing/concept/headcanon?“crack” is weird in the silm because of the dubious canonosity of Literally Everything... my fav ~crack~ pairing is probably turgon/finrod but that has evolved from “crack” to “rarepair hell” for me lmao. i also really love @princess-faelivrin‘s fin-galad headcanon! and i am currently daydreaming about some way that nienor is connected to goldberry - oh and tar-miriel as the witch-king is always a good one. really, anything that keeps the ladies alive for longer!

Who is Gil-galad’s father?i’m throwing my hat in the ring for Orodreth, but that’s only when i don’t want to make it like, a Thing. i really love explorations of this uncertainty (@elvntari‘s gil-galad fic springs to mind, as does @thishazeleyeddemon‘s lalwen theory, maybe with cirdan as the dad, and fin-galad is again a blessed concept) and i’m also very fond of the idea that his parentage is “no one in particular” and that he just stepped forward to claim the throne when no one else wanted it. really i’m open to every interpretation! except fingon. i don’t think it’s fingon. i mean, it could very well be that fingon is his dad as in he’s the one who raised him and claimed him, but if we’re going biologically i don’t think fingon contributed any genetic material to gil-galad

Angbang, Russingon or Silvergifting?i mean this is a no-brainer. of course it’s russingon! i do enjoy angbang and silvergifting, but like cmon.one of these days i’d love to write a really long angbang fic detailing everything btwn them, probably mostly from mairon’s pov, from ainulindale to the fourth age but that would be an undertaking. i do have a lot of tiny ideas for them that would be fun to weave together. as for silvergifting, just...poor tyelpe. poor dude. but i am suuuuch a slut for russingon lmao.

25. What would you most like to see in a tv series or film based on the Silmarillion?i would LOVE to see a book-accurate version but like. that’s VERY unlikely. a COH adaptation would be neat but probably too dark to make it to audiences without being seriously watered down. Beren and Luthien might be able to do it, if they could condense the supporting lore around the story. that’s really the problem with the silm - it’s like a greek myth in it’s epic sprawl. there’s so much story that you can’t really take just one aspect of it to the screen without taking all of it. if you don’t know about the silmarils you can’t do B&L, if you don’t know about the nirnaeth and the histories of nargothrond and doriath you can’t do COH, if you don’t know about the sundering and the exiles you can’t do literally anything tbh.BUT i would love a COH adaptation, if it’s done right. or a very ~experimental~ take on B&L. i have a lot of ideas of how to incorporate all the different versions of that story into one cohesive canon... ok i admit it i just want to see telvido on screen!!! and also werewolves are neat!!

also i’ve said it before but a 3-act play set in numenor....HMM that would be some good hsit. really, i think the mariner’s wife would make an excellent drama, but again there’s so much CONTEXT around numenor!the 3 acts would be 1. elros’s transformation into tar-minyatur (there’s so many possibilities to explore! it’s basically uncharted waters once you get to the details!) 2. the mariner’s wife (a pretty faithful adaptation, also tar-meneldur’s monologue when he passes the scepter on to aldarion is just. WRITTEN to be performed on stage imo) and 3. akallabeth (again, lots of ways this could go. i also think it would be really neat to double cast elros and pharazon. and sauron should be double cast too, though idk who as.)

Now I want to come back but what I find hard is to slip back into that mindspace. I want to, I just have to really funnel all of my focus into doing so and to get the ball rolling.

1. When did you first watch TGS? I watched it early April last year after a month of begging my mom to get it for me on dvd. The movie had me at “Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve waited for..”

2. Who is your favourite character? I really like most of the characters, but my absolute favorite has to be PT, idk why but I just really like how three-dimensional and “human” he is.

3. What are your canon and fanon ships? Canon-wise, I really love Phinity, they’re like a story book couple and its adorable. Fanon-wise I’m major trash for barlyle (in case that wasn’t obvious xD) and Charity/Phineas/Phillip (idk the official ship name)

4. What is your favourite TGS song? (all of them) but if I had to pick, I would go with either The Greatest Show or The Other Side (both of them are a bop and you can fight me over that)

5. Are you a content creator? Surprisingly yes (this is the first fandom I’ve ever contributed to xD) I write fanfic (mainly barlyle) and I also draw fanart occasionally. My Ao3 is nerdy-snowflake in case anyone is curious \o/

6. If General Tom Thumb and The Irish Giant got into a fight, who would win and how? In my opinion i think it would end in a tie if one decided to buy drinks for the other xD

7. If you joined Barnum’s circus, what would your act be? Uhhhh...aside from writing smut about the ringmasters, I’m pretty talent-less after that xD maybe I would work as a poster designer

8. Favourite fanfiction trope or AU? My favorite trope will always be enemies-to-friends-to-lovers and “oh no we have to share a room for x reason” and AU wise, I would say Lynxx’s wing au, dragon phineas au, my own personal aus (because I have way too many xD) and definitely vampire au (Im looking at you, discord chat)

AU proposition: Vader joins Ahsoka on Malachor

I've always been taken by something our good Saint Fialleril said, that on Malachor, the conflict Filoni gave us was Mustafar 2.0, when it should have been Bespin 0.5. I'm paraphrasing. Anyway, just imagine. It's Vader who isn't quite resigned to his fate. It's Vader who might still think that he's doing all this for the Greater Good. It's Vader who's realizing (or realized) that Palpatine is never going to make them equals, and that he's forever going to be the go-for for an old man. It's Vader who is confronted with Maul, who is the living embodiment of how Palpatine throws his Padawans away. It's Vader who sees Ahsoka--his sister/daughter figure--who did what he should have and left the Order. The only family in the Galaxy he has left. The only other person he's willing to kill and die for. The only person who is a true grey Jedi, who uses the core of the Jedi teaching and who shed the chaffing chaf of emotional restrictions. Who has learned how to love healthily (idk I enjoyed the Ahsoka book). The only person who still sees good in him--in Anakin. I think it would take some convincing, but I think Ahsoka would take the time to do it. I think she would stand with him on top of the Sith temple and say "please come with me. We can figure it out. Please." And Vader would go with her, because Anakin is still a softie who really fucking needs a hug and real medical attention. So there they all are, a la @darthnickels Black Mirror, if a little less terrifying and a little more awkward, and Vader says to Ezra "Give me that Holocron" and Ezra's like "what the fuck ever man, it's yours I can't fuckin use it" and hands it over because it's in Sith and no one speaks that. It takes him a long time because holocrons aren't small but for once Darth Hideous isn't around to show him what excerpts to read and he's in charge of his own education. So he has time to gather some of his possessions and get some initial reconstructive surgeries (Ahsoka sits through them with him. He doesn't like anasthetic.). And he listens to the holocron. And a la @flaminganakin, he learns what Palpatine did to keep him alive on Mustafar. About what he did to Padme. And of course he fucking flips because having someone kill your wife to save your self-loathing ass is never fun. So that happens, and then he's like "Dude I need some spiritual healing from the Grandmothers" (because Fialleril's head cannons are basically the fanon bible at this point) so he goes to Tatooine, and he's wandering around, caught up in memories and shit, and literally bumps into this scrawny blond kid who's carrying too many mech parts, and theyre talking and the kid is all "Hiya my name is Luke Skywalker" and Anakin’s heart skips a beat but he's like nah, it's just a coincidence and then hey his uncle is here too and what do you know it's Owen Lars. Awkward... But Beru is there too on this family fucking outing to the city, and she insists on inviting him to their home because last time they met it was a fucking shitshow. And then... well, "I'm Anakin Skywalker. I believe I may be your father." So then Anakin goes on a trek to find Obi-Wan, hiding in the sand wastes like a God damn gopher. Anakin can't punch him because his fists are deadly weapons so he headbutts him into submission. AND THEN Turns out the best custom prosthetic maker lives in Alderaan. And Bail has a fucking heart attack when Obi-Wan shows up and is all... hi could we talk for a bit?? And they decide to try to hide the whole thing from Leia but she's an established spy by now (I guess??? Filoni I'm going to ignore you unless you are convenient for plot purposes I guess??)) And she figures it out/overhears, so she's pissed and finds Anakin and is all, "Hello. My name is Leia Organa. I am your daughter" and Anakin just fucking passes out because!!!!! Two???!!!! This just bypasses so many things. Destruction of Alderaan. Vader failing to connect with his children because he's too caught up with hating himself for killing their mother. Still has the worst case of Survivors guilt on the face of the Galaxy. Still is a medical nightmare that is sewn back into human functionality via dozens of surgeries. Still doesn't really feel guilty for destroying the Order. (Because, let's face it, they were gonna fall whether he helped or not.) I just like it.

The day has come! The Second Round of Fic Claims for the Inception Big Bang is here. It's a second chance for you to work on any fics that you missed on the first round, and a chance to take on a secondary project.

Claims will work on a similar way to the last round, but we will give priority to fics that haven't been claimed and to artists that couldn't get any of their choices on the first round.

Arthur turned. A man was sitting next to him.

"Hello," Arthur said. "Thank you for helping me get home last night."

The moon smiled. "How did you know it was me?"

Arthur rolled his eyes. He picked up a pebble and tossed it into the water, watching the waves ripple the reflection. "How can you be here and there at the same time?"

The moon leaned back on his elbows and stared up at the sky. "Same way I can be in the lake and the sky at the same time."

Arthur frowned. "That's not the same thing. The lake's just reflecting the light from the moon. From you."

The moon turned to smile brightly at him. "Well aren't you a smart one, hm?" He leaned in and whispered, "I'm a reflection, too. We all are, at the end of the day."

Arthur thought about that. It didn't make sense, but that didn't mean it was wrong. He looked up at the moon in the sky, then at the moon sitting next to him.

"My name's Arthur," he offered. "What's your name?"

The moon looked at him strangely. "Eames. You can call me Eames."

"I'm going to be an astronaut, Eames," Arthur said. "Then I can come and visit you in the sky."

Eames smiled again. Arthur wouldn't have thought the moon liked to smile. "I would like that very much," Eames said. "Very much, indeed."
