I like to imagine that Green and Yellow try to play a prank on their dad's by swapping clothes but Red and Duck can tell the difference between their eyes but still play along. Duck would dramatically gasp at the "twist" surprise. Red would purposely get them wrong after they swap back to their original clothes for a laugh

God I love the idea of them (when they eventually get to the point where they're autonomous enough outside of Lesley's meddling to wear more than just the overalls) switching clothes and trying to parent trap-style trick Red and Duck into confusing them and completely forgetting that A. they have 100% different haircuts and B. completely different colored eyes. Like, the whole reason Green started going by Green in the first place is because Yellow has brown eyes and Green has, well, green. Red plays along a little but Duck takes one look at them in their miss-matched sweaters and pants and is like ARE YOU TRYING TO DISRESPECT MY INTELLEGENCE???? and then goes on a rant about how identity theft is NOT A JOKE do you want the GOVERNMENT to come into MY HOME and ARREST YOU BOTH???

yeah the thing with the info reveals is that we have never directly seen what happened with Alyx and Lewis (also gonna note both those names aren’t colour based, meaning they may be from before the Great War, which would track with it being an ‘old story’), we’ve heard snippets based on the book (a children’s story, so unreliable information from the start because things would have to be simplified or excised to make the in-universe fictionalised Alyx a more palatable protagonist by removing her less than stellar moments), then Curious Cat only giving brief, contextless comments about her (for example “but she learned her lesson in the end, right?” “i’d certainly say so” <- gonna come back to that one) and now we have Jaune’s recap of events which, from an outside perspective, looks like him trying to railroad a child he knows entirely too much about along a story that he shouldn’t know, making him seem suspicious and untrustworthy, assuming that Alyx did something to Lewis at the Tree that allowed her to get out but left Lewis behind to be absorbed by the tree, while Curious (who makes it sound like they were there but didn’t quite know what happened) disagrees about the steps that led there

we’ve got multiple versions of a story and none of the narrators are trustworthy for multiple reasons (the story is simplified and excises key details, Curious won’t give information unless it’s directly asked for and Jaune’s story is coloured by his perspective and bitterness), and a lot of assumptions being made (like, for example, that it was Alyx who left the Ever After and wrote The Girl Who Fell Through the World - a connection the team seemingly only made between chapters 3 and 4 on learning they’re not specifically in the book - and that Alyx traded Lewis’s life for safe passage back to Remnant, and so on)

and i’m remembering in all of this, that we don’t know who the Blacksmith is or how they are part of the functioning system of the Ever After - only that they offered Ruby a chance to not be Ruby anymore

so, presuming we’ll see what happened to Alyx and Lewis at some point; let’s make a couple guesses:

- Alyx and Lewis fought at the Tree, maybe over who gets left behind, maybe a brewing argument over what they’ve been doing since they got here, who knows. a fight which leaves one of them dead or seriously harmed (’a young girl flees the consequence of a choice’ a story is written which leaves out key decisions made by its supposed protagonist). i’m gonna guess that it’s Lewis who survived that conflict

- Lewis gets little focus in Jaune’s story and seemed kinda quiet and withdrawn from what little we did see - Lewis may have been in contact with the Blacksmith, who is more subtle about reaching out to people and making them deals

- Lewis and Alyx fight, Lewis wins and has Alyx’s dagger now - and so, either out of jealousy or distress at what has been done, takes the Blacksmith’s offer and is remade... into the Alyx that writes the story (if Alyx is, indeed, the author of the story). a way to forget the horrible things that have been done, fleeing the consequences of a choice, but... the heart never forgets
